that there are people who are payingfor air to horv of God. There
(00:54):
are people battling for their lives inhospitals. The fact that you have been
so faithful, so good to askgive you some mercy for the rest of
God. And you guide us everyday. You protect us, Father Lord,
you keep us in the shadow ofyour willes and we just want to

(01:38):
the people that they love and carefor one for themselves. May you meet
each and every need according in accordingto your prefectly and plan for their lives,
and accordse with your riches and gloryin the Mighty name of Jesus Christ
price without giving them praise in ourhearts. Amen, so our opening scriptures
coming from some one hundred and theibraries, I shout for joy to the
(02:01):
Lord all the years. Worship theLord with gladness, come before him with
joyful songs. Know that the Lordis good. It is he who made
us. We are his We arehis people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his geests with thanksgiving, andhis courts with praise, Give thanks
to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good, and his
(02:23):
love endures forever, his faithfulness continuesthrough all generations, amens. And so
I'm just in relation with the scripturetoday, I just sort of sharing something
in relation to gratitude on this isMonday. You know, I think I
was thinking about it yesterday. Idon't know. Maybe it's just me pray
(02:45):
for me, Please pray for methe days when I wake up, and
of course I say thank you.I pray, and of course I say
thank you Lord for this day.You know, you say a prayer.
We've been taught that, like sincewevery kids, you know. But then
after I just finish saying that prayer, maybe I thought of something that didn't
go right, something that went throughor somebody when I feel is prosecuting me
(03:07):
comes to my mind. And whenthat thought comes, I'm just like,
oh my goodness, God, canyou just do something about this. Can
you deal with this thing? Canyou do with this situation? Can you
do with this person for me?You know? And that now begins as
the day goes by, if thatis the last thing that I meditated on,
I get to realize that it kindof disturbs the flow of my day.
(03:27):
So I don't know if it's justme. So maybe if it's just
me, please pray for Please prayfor me. And so I was just
thinking to myself that, how butif I became so intentional about, you
know, being so grateful to Godthat even in that I focus on me
two more, even as I decideto start my day, it should be
(03:51):
the last thing that should It shouldbe the first thing I begin with and
the last thing, you know, before I start doing any of any anything
that I have to do during theday. And so I just thought,
well, how but I share aboutgratitude because I believe that this is something
that is very It's very common. We all know about it, and I
think I remember for many of uswhen you're kids, you're always told if
(04:11):
your parents buy you something or somebodygives you something, always say thank you.
And it's even become automatic just somebodygives you something, sorry, thank
you, regardless how big. WasMore Ever, it may be any sort
of gesture that I might do foryou, you say thank you. And
I just thought it's important, Ithink, especially in this day and time,
that we get to that childlike, you know, attitude of being a
(04:36):
people that are always in the spiritof giving gratitude, in the spirit of
gratitude, if I should say,and so, just before I get to
now talk about the importance maybe yourgratitude, there's also some scripture significance Bible
stories that can just help us enlightenus a bit more or what it's important
(04:57):
to be people that are always inthe spirit of gratitude. It's important for
us to understand that apart from thespiritual significance, you know, or maybe
customary significance, if I should say, that, tradition, whatever, that
it may be. Gratitude in itself. It's a positive emotion, you know.
(05:18):
So once you're able to be appreciative, you're expressing yourself in that way.
It kind of helps you mentally andphysically too. It helps you.
It has sorry let me say,it has mental health and physical health benefits.
Yes, that's what I'm meant tosay. And so before we get
(05:39):
now to the importance of that, somebody can be thinking, well, I
know about this, maybe I've heardabout this like it's something that I know,
it's autumatic, and of course probablyI'm one of those people who never
forgets to show gratitude. But thenI just thought it's important to also know,
like what impact does not, sorry, being a person who never shows
(06:03):
gratitude have on us? If yourperson who has in gratitude, if I
should say, what kind of impactdoes that have on you? So in
gratitude, according to a study thatwas done some years ago, says that
people that tend to have characteristics arebeing gratitude in gratitude tend to have excessive
(06:26):
sense of self importance, They tendto be arrogant, have vanity, they
tend to have an quenciable need foradmiration and approval, and lastly, they
tend to have a sense of entitlement, sorry, a sense of entitlement.
So it's really, really, reallyimportant that we're intentional about having a spirit
(06:48):
of gratitude because then you'll find thatone of these things are going to end
up creeping into our lives and Ithink that their days will Actually I get
to evaluate myself and if I justfeel like, oh I didn't I feel
like I didn't get this, orI know my friends, they got this
and got this when they're growing upwith my parents. The parents readed this
and this and this for them, and I think, oh, I didn't.
(07:10):
Could it be the reason why maybeI'm thinking this way, I'm feeling
this way, or I don't haveme, but I think I should be
having at that point, and youstart feeling that self of entitlement, you
not say you deserve it and youdidn't get it. But that's not the
way it's supposible for whatever it isthat we have, that we had,
that is what we needed, thatwas that is what God knew that we
(07:30):
needed, you know, for ourlives, or that's what He knows that
we need for our lives. SoI think it's just really, really really
important that we're intentional about being peopleof gratitude, because then if we are
not exercising the spirit of gratitude,if we don't, if you don't be
intentional about about being grateful people, then definitely and gratitude is going to creep
in and with it comes it comesall these things that I've mentioned, sense
(07:54):
of it, titlement, t excessiveself importance, a rogust, i'm quenscio
beneath for admiration and approve and vanity. Now moving on, we're just going
to I'm just going to sorry sharea few things the impact of gratitude on
our health and mental health and physicalhealth. It's benefits. So the first
(08:15):
thing is that it helps you tohave better sleep. It helps with a
better immunity, higher self esteem,It decreases your stress, lowers blood pressure,
less anxiety and depression. It helpsto build stronger relationships, and of
course gives you higher levels of optimism. Now I don't have this is just
like an article where I picked thisfrom. It's not like a study that
(08:37):
has been done on it. ButI think that if we're able to exercise
these things, you know, itwould definitely help. It would definitely what's
it going to say? Back upthese points to say a few of them
can actually be true. So nowgetting in we're going to continue. I'm
just going to read one of myvery favorite scriptures that are like from First
(08:58):
test Salonians, verse eighteen and thebibaries give thanks in our circumstances, for
this is the will of God inChrist Jesus for you. And I think
there are many many other scriptures thatreally encourage us and just the importance of
giving things. And so moving on, I'm going to share the first first
Bible story that is going to helpus on the importance and the impact that
(09:22):
gratitude has. So the first storyis going to come from Matthew fourteen verst
Night, and I think many ofus are very familiar with this story.
In Matthew chapter fourteen, Jesus fitsthe five thousand people, and so from
fourteen to nineteen the Biberies taking thefive loves and the two fish and looking
up to Heaven, he gave thanksand broke the loves. And then we
(09:43):
get to understand that when Jesus gavethanks to the loves, the fish and
the bread multiplied and he was ableto feed the entire five thousand people.
You know, and that is justone of the few things that shows the
importance of gratitude. You know, wake up today, think about your life.
Thank God for the many things,Thank God for the lead to because
(10:05):
it just might never know. Whatdid you be able to do for you
when it multiplies, for your community, for your country, for maybe your
career, it could be for yourbusiness, whatever that it may be.
Just give thanks to God and youjust might never know what it might do
for you. So I think that'sthe first thing that we're going to do
before we take the first musical break, is just to think back and you
(10:28):
know, meditate. What is theone thing that I think in my life
that is small, that I thinkis not enough, that I think is
significant, and just give thanks forthat one thing and you just might never
know. God might just multiply it, just like you multiplied the five loaves
of bread and the two fish tofeed the five thousand people. We're gonna
(10:48):
take the first musical break. Andthis is the song from the legendary Don
Moen, and it's entitled give thanksthey blessed you listen, Give fes with
(11:15):
a green, Give that to theball, Give that because he's par Esuscar.
This fivelan with a dream, Givethat to double give because he's bar
(11:52):
Gesusscar. This let Moe say bystar that the bull listen because of one
(12:16):
has come Kis say, scarlet, the bull listen break because of one the
(12:37):
do That's time for a grateful heartbreaks never only one. If that speakase
(13:01):
Jesus his son did that the greatof n to the one we wanted,
(13:22):
because he's did Esusscus his son,and that the movies say Scot, that
the boy say red because of potAs that the movies say, I hurt.
(14:26):
Amen. And now moving on,I'm going to read from Philippians four,
verse sixty seven. The Viberries donot be anxious about anything, but
in everything by prayer and supplication withthanksgiving. Let your request be made known
to God, and the peace ofGod surpasses all understanding. Or guard your
(14:48):
hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus. Amen. And so we're going to
move on to the next story. What to trust the significance of Excuse me
having the spirit of gratitude, ifI should say. And the next story
is coming from John eleven, verseforty one to forty two. This is
(15:09):
the story of Jesus raising Lazarus andthe bibaries. So they took away the
stone, and Jesus lifted up hiseyes and said, Father, I thank
you that you have heard me.I knew that you always hear me,
but I said this on account ofthe people studying around that they may believe
that you sent me. Amen. And I think we get to know that.
(15:33):
Afterwards. Of course, Lazarus israised his back to life, and
people around him were very astonished wordGod to people, and it was just
amazing that he was Jesus Christ wasraising the dead. And that just shows
us another importance of having the spiritof gratitude, that even things that may
(15:56):
be dead in our lives can comeback to life just by you saying thank
you. And it's really really, really really important. I think there is
nothing not I think I know forsure that with God, even the Bible
says, look on thirty seven, nothing is impossible. With him. Nothing
takes him by surprise, nothing shockshim. Like even the time when Mary
(16:17):
and Martha went crying to Jesus aboutLazarus' death. Of course he was taken
a backa it really it hurt him. But when he was addressing them,
he said that he's asleep. He'snot dead, He's asleep because for him,
he knows for sure, he knowswhat he's able to do. He
knows that he can do way beyondwhat we think. The situations that may
seem to be so hard, thatmay seem dead to us, to him,
(16:41):
may just be asleep. If Ishould say so. It's just really
really really important. Other are thingsin our lives that may seem to be
dead. This is also just reallyreally encouraging me to remind me. I
thought I was ready, but Ithink it's ministering to me even the more.
You know, it's important to givethanks because not only like we read
(17:04):
from the first story, will multiplygiving things we don't ultiply the little that
we may have in our hands, but it can also giving things can also
bring things that may seem dead inour lives back to life. Amen.
And then I'm also going to readfrom Some one hundred and three Verus two
to five, and the bibaries, bless the Lord, oh my soul,
(17:26):
and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals
your diseases, who redeems your lifefrom the pit, who crowns you with
step first lave and mercy, whosatisfies you with good so that your youth
is renewed like the egos a man. And so as we continue, let's
(17:47):
just take another musical break, andwe will have a song by elevation worship
and titled Faithful. I hope you'reblessed as you listen. When the fell
(18:14):
like the birdy was more than acold, When the whispers of worry over.
(18:37):
You never left me. You werethere. You ha faed for hush
and my heart be free. Youface. Uh, you're not called the
(19:07):
change. You must stay for fad. I was down to cold base.
(19:33):
Then you stopped in the fire likeyou to toils to Oh how convinced of
your you are low? Then inyou you are wash my hobby, you
(20:10):
husten. I know you're not gone. You mustn't go tooy tuk my god,
(21:00):
chalk it is your standing, chalk, Create is yours, jock,
(21:25):
you talk so fan create is yourchuck? Create your should not be me
(22:14):
you. I know You're not haveconsick, should not have befriend. She
(22:36):
fucked. I know you're not cominga ship, you mocker. Just the
(23:18):
stories that I'm going to make.Last one of the Mary's songs from the
Ghost of Luke Chapter one was fortysix. This is just after, of
course they encountered that Mary had withthe angel and her been given the message
of the birth of Jesus, andthen she visits Elizabeth, and of course
(23:42):
there's that interaction where Elizabeth's baby livedin her womb, and of course they
exchanged greetings. Then after she leftElizabeth, she she got to sing to
give a song of gratitude, ifI should say, which was glorifying God
over the sea situation that she foundherself. And I think, honestly,
(24:03):
Mary was just a type of womanthat I don't know, because I don't
know if I would really be thiscalm as she was giving what she was
stored and how everything was going togo, and knowing what was planned before,
knowing that she was placed to bemarried to Joseph and everything, then
all of a sudden she was goingto be a pregnant virgins Then how does
(24:25):
that even happen? But she doesn'ttake this in negative way. She goes
on to give gratitude, to givethanks to God and just surrenders herself,
gives herself in totality to whatever Godwanted to do. And I think that
is something that we can also learnfrom. You know that regardless of what
God gives, whatever instruction that Godmay give us, whether it seems difficult
(24:45):
to do, whether if you're incapableof it, you're underqualified for it,
but the moment that we gets justfully surrender our will for his and give
thanks that he knows that what he'sdoing is best, he gets to work
things out so beautifully in our lives. So I think that's the other lesson
that we can just pick up fromhere. The importance of being people that
(25:07):
are of gratitude is that it helpsGod to work things out in his way
to perfect his will in our lives. And I believe that there is one
thing or want to do to alwaysbe in his will, because if it
were out of his will, thenwell we know the impact of that.
The other story is of Hannah, and I think Hannah is also an amazing
woman whose story is quite impactful. After long years of infertility. You know,
(25:34):
she always prayed to God, trustedhim, she gave thanks She was
mistaken for a drunk woman, butshe never really backed down. She always
found time to give things to Goddespite her predicament. And I think it's
something that we can also learn from, you know, because at the end
of the day, her prayers ofthanksgiving did not got an answered. God
(25:56):
gave her a son and amazing manwho we look up to even now.
And so that is another thing thatis really really important that regardless of an
answered prayers, according to our timing, because most of the times we tend
to I think and we tend tomark probably and ansaid prayers and accordance with
(26:18):
our timing. But then we knowthat God's timing is always the best,
so and answerd prayers. It doesnot mean that God would, as say
eventually, I think we all knowthat. But it's just always important to
give thanks. Maybe if you don'teven have the strength to really pray,
find the strength to pray, justget the Bible, get into the Book
of SMS, or even just readthe prayers that other people used to pray,
(26:41):
and just use that and just beencouraged through that. The story in
look As seventeen, verse sixteen, that is the story of Jesus healing the
lepers, and we think we rememberan account of among the ten, only
one returned and he gave thanks, and Jesus told him that his wor his
faith healed him, you know, because of what he did, because of
(27:04):
him returning to give thanks to him, he found he got his healing through
that. And I think that's anotherthing that's really, really really important that
at the end of the day,we don't always have to see the results,
but we have to just be intentionalabout giving thanks to God that he
has done it and Therefore, inthat way, we show God that we
trust him enough to even do towork out our faith with his The Bible
(27:29):
says faith that works is dead. You know. It's one thing to just
say I have faith and another thingto actually work out your faith. So
that's another thing that I think wecan also just take from these stories concerning
gratitude. And I'm just going toread a short commentary about living a life
of gratitude, and it says gratitudeand know things is God's will for us
(27:51):
and is based on trusting his unfailinglove. We shouldn't base our practice of
gratitude on the circumstances of our lives. They can change in a heartbeat.
Gratitude can transform us if we makeit a way of life. The examples
that we read above can also provethat a life field with gratitude puts the
circumstances of our lives into a newcontext. Thankful for what we have,
(28:15):
that He is sufficient for us,and focusing on the blessing we have received
a man. And so now, what are the some of the practical steps
that we can do to remind ourselves, you know, to always stay in
this spirit of gratitude number one, something that I've also been trying to practice,
(28:36):
having been consistent with it, butI didn't think sometime last year.
Get a book, write things down. Your day has ended. When you
go back home, maybe you're seatedin your office, you're at school,
you're in class. Get a pen. Right, what are the things that
you've experienced? You say? ThankGod? And be intentional about missioning exactly.
Oh God, think you that today? Oh I was craving this and
somebody I hate it. You know, I wanted to eat this, and
(28:59):
somebody brought me something that was evenbetter. Oh God, I thank you
today I use public transportation and Igo back safely. Or God, thank
you today that I didn't have thisand you provided it for me. God,
I thank you that today I wentto school. My friends were happy.
We were talking about this. Itwas impactful, whatever that it may
be. But just be intentional aboutit and be able to mention them one
(29:22):
by one, because then you areable. You're calling them out that way,
the things that you can look backto, and even in days we're
feeling so low and just feeling likethere is really nothing that I can point
to, you will find that thereis something if you go back and just
read, it's more of like youkeeping track of God's faithfulness, records of
God's faithfulness in your life. Andjust in closing, let's just remember that
(29:48):
gratitude helps to block toxic emotions likeenvy, resentmentaly, great, depression,
and it can also destroy sorry ourhappiness. If we do not want to
to be people that are practicing gratitude. Remember in gratitude also is not a
good thing. So if you're notgoing to be a person who's going to
(30:10):
be intentional about living a life ofgratitude, and gratitude is going to creep
in. And earlier I mentioned thecharacteristics of ingratitude, and I just hope
that we can really try to startbeing intentional about always showing gratitude to God
and even just the people around us. Let's practice and also just change the
narrative of things in our lives peoplearound us, and also just encourage and
(30:33):
teach people around us as well.So get it. You'reing to get a
small book, whatever that it maybe. It maybe can be in your
phone, in your notes, justwrite something you're awake today, thank you
God for waking me, and thinkyou that I had a cup of tea,
it had milk, it just hadcock, or it maybe just had
plenty, or it had no sugaror had no sugar. Just say thank
you because one day you will lookback and you will really, really,
(30:53):
really be thankful to God that hehas really there's evidence that you can look
back to and trace God's goodness inyour life. And so most importantly,
don't forget to always pray, pray, pray, pray, and meditate on
God's word. So thank you somuch for listening. This is a victory
man the podcast until next time standing. Like the song by Freakie Orman entitled
(31:15):
one Moment, I hope you're blessedas we listen. Thank you, one
(31:57):
Momencity Present. It's fatter than athousand day. One moment with you Lord.
