We’re going to look through a beautiful passage of scripture from Matthew.

Joseph Accepts Jesus as His Son - Matthew 1:18-21

18 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about[d]: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet[e] did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[f] because he will save his people from their sins.”

THE FIRST CUT IS A TEST…..

- I can’t relate much to a lot of things but if you want to talk about having a Professor issues , I’m going through that now. Want to talk about broken friendships, I’ve been there. Talk about failing whether school, personal goals, etc I’ve been there….
- But what’s important?

Imagine throwing in the towel at every seemingly difficult turn? You’ll clog the world because harsh times/ days are inevitable but it doesn’t nullify, instead only magnifies the “God factor.”

✨ Listen in and Be Blessed. And of course, if you have a different narrative please feel free to leave a comment or send an email 🤗

I'd pray that you are not fast, not forget to be good,
that the love and care make themat your appointed step and just be putting
to perfect for them and before intheir lives. And give us my stam
to thanksgiving and crazy. Amen.So I'm going toribute from some mouche as

(02:21):
an open scripture and the biberies.I lift up my eyes to the mountain.
Where does my hope come from?I hope comes from the Lord,
the maker of heaven. Ever youwill not let your foot sleep. He
who watches over you will slumbers.Indeed, he who watches over Israel world
neither slumberer sleep. The Lord watchesover you. The Lord needs your shade

(02:44):
of with your right hand the sun, the Lord your old f You will
watch over your life. The Lordwatches for your coming and going, both
mouth and forever more away. Ihope this will pr to somebody as you
start the day and start to wakethat God is on your side, but

(03:07):
everybody is that you need to watch. That you may need just look up
to you and you will be thereto guide you and to lead you through
everything. So, yeah, it'sMonday, and honestly, if I had
it my way, I will wantto just stay in bed, watch some

(03:27):
Nollywood, it's some popcorn, maybedo some reading, listen to some music
and repeat. Honestly, because Mondayis for me. I get to work
with my professor. And yeah, for people that are close to me,
they know that I've been having alittle bit of some wonderful experiences if I

(03:51):
should call with my professor. Andso this is actually like one of the
reasons getting to workain to talk abouta particular I think it's a saying from
a song that I've also heard likea numbered number of times, and it
just crossed my mind some time ago, but of course in a different light.

(04:15):
So the particular statement we're talking aboutis the first cut is the deepest,
you know. And so, justlike I mentioned earlier, mondays,
I work with my professor and it'sa little bit challenging. She's the vice
president of the hospital. The expectationsare high. I'm the only foreign doctor,
not just like foreign doctor working withher, and the only foreign doctor

(04:38):
and African in the entire hospital. So yeah, you can imagine it's like
you're the only what can I say, Maybe you're the only sheep among cows.
I don't know which ones reached, what kind of description to give,
but anything, you're the only mangoamong govertries, just something like that,

(04:59):
Just imagine need anyhow, But yeah, I'm the only I'm the only foreigner
in the entire hospital. And thenmondays for her because she's Monday's outpatient is
VIP for her, so high classpeople that come. It's all these special,
special people. Twin pregnancies, triplets, multiple pregnancies, so the expectation

(05:23):
is also high. But anyway, moving that aside, I think I once
I once talked about a particular experienceI had when I just started. I
think the first day reported for workand the kind of I think reception for
the lack of a better term, the kind of reception that I received from

(05:44):
the doctor who was my teacher forthe first three to four months. So
when I arrived, it wasn't asas good as I expected. She was
well, she was busy. Ididn't know she was busy. She had
a meeting and knowing to me,I didn't know she had meeting until like
the following day. So but anyway, I went and she didn't receive me

(06:05):
so well, at least the whyI thought i'd be received. She didn't
talk much to me. The afternoon. I went there bit late because there's
so muching to do regards like registration. So I went and then I was
a little bit late. By thetime I was like, I think one
pm. She had so many patientsthat morning and they actually went through into

(06:28):
her lunchtime, and then she hada meeting after that. So I just
went there, sat for a fewminutes and it was lunchtime, and she
just told me to go and seeand like do with another doctor in the
afternoon, and it just broke me. I was so sad. I was
always another thinking, oh my goodness, I think I'm going to make it
like three to four months with thiswoman, Like just the day when she's

(06:49):
really throwing me. She doesn't evenknow my name. She didn't even ask
for my name, know, likewhere am I from. But then of
course I think, like I explainedin the previous podcast, that wasn't the
case. She was just busy. And yeah, right now she's like my
favorite, top top favorite. She'sthe one person that I run to whenever
I have issues in that hospital. But anyway, that's the way we're talking

(07:10):
about. So now, the firstcat is the deepest. It just came
to my mind when I thought aboutthe statement, and I just began to
think that is it possible that wecould see the statement in another light,
that the first cat is actually notalways the deepest, but the first cat,
the first cat could be a test, you know. So yeah,

(07:33):
I would like to it's not debate, you know, but I missed debate
in secondary school. This would bea good motion to a debate about So
the first cat is not the deepest, but the first cat is a test,
or the first cat could be atest? Is I think similarly to
the story I've told you about myself. Yeah, Like I was thinking,

(07:56):
imagine if I decided, like onthat very day, because of my experience
with my teacher, I decided, you know what, let me change the
teacher, then give me somebody elsewho I think maybe Mary sue me better.
You know, if I decided,oh I can't do this anymore,
maybe switch my let me go toa different outpatient, then come back to
this one later, or just complained, you know, if I just maybe

(08:18):
lad a complaint, a complain ofa complaint about her, Sorry, Like
what would have happened? I don'tknow what would have happened. So if
I had thrown in the tower, like I just think back, if I
had thrown in the towel, itwould have happened to me? Like was
that a test for me? Liketo test my patience? Or like what
exactly was happening? What exactly Isay was God trying to teach me in

(08:43):
that time, you know, LikeI said in the previous podcast when I
talked about this particular incident, andI think I made a statement saying we
should learn to give ourselves and otherpeople chances because sometimes it's not always as
it is. I think we knowthe statement. It is what it is,
but I think I also stend toargue on this one, and I
think we'll bring it back and justtalk about it too. It's not always

(09:07):
as it is. You know, there's always the flip side, you know,
to your coin. It's just notone stidy. You can flip the
corners on the other side and you'llget a different light to it. And
now with that said, we're justgoing to read the past to scripture that
I think it's also going to helpus see another light to it. And
it's a very very interesting and verycommon story from Matthew chapter one verse ourself

(09:31):
from verse eighteen, and I thinkI read through to twenty one and the
subheading is Joseph accepts Jesus as hisson. This is how the birth of
Jesus Emeside came about. His motherMary was placed to be married to Joseph,
but before they came together, shewas found to be pregnant through the
Holy Spirit. Because Joseph, herhusband, was faithful to the law and

(09:54):
yet did not want to expose herto public disgrace, he had in mind
to divorce her. But after hehad considered this, an enngl of the
Lord appeared to him in a dreamand said, Joseph, son of David,
to not be afraid to make marryhome. Sorry, to take Mary
home as your wife, because sheis what is conceived in her is from

(10:16):
the Holy Spirit. She will givebirth to a son, and you are
to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their
scenes, you know. And Ifound this story very, very, very
interesting regarding the statement the first cutis a test instead of the first cut
is the deepest. Now, Iwouldn't want to say like in this aspect

(10:39):
because mait me to also maybe justgive a few meanings or definitions to the
statement the first cut is the deepestbecause I think even I only got to
understand what it really meant. Ithink in my late ten years. Before
you just hear the song and justsing along, you don't even know.
But because anyway, it's trending. So you're just saying, so, just

(11:01):
two definitions that I found, andI think it's one is a definition.
One is like a comment from somebody. But I think this resonated with me
more and the understanding is very simplefor anyone. So the first cut is
the deepest simply means the first timeyou experience something, it's always the most
meaningful and remarkable time because you havenever experienced it before. And the second

(11:26):
one says the first cut is thedeepest means the first time you have been
betrayed by someone you love and trustis more, is much more painful than
the subsequent betrayals. You build uparmor after the first betrayal, and that's
hard to restore that level of trustever again, even in a new relationship.
It's a lucky soul that never hasto feel that cat. That is

(11:48):
why people should never stoop that law, like never stoop that law to fall
in four, the statement the firstcut is the deepest because then you get
to miss out only a whole lotof things that might be there for you
to see after that first cut.If I should say so, now with
regards to what you read about Josephand Mary in the situation. You know,

(12:11):
Joseph wouldn't really feel betrayed by Mary, because like the Angel came and
told him what is coursi of devicethe Holy Spirit, And we understand that
the Bible clearly states, like there'sa testimony of Joseph been a faithful man.
So any if he has any sortof right to feel entitled, if
he wanted to, and if hewants to maybe play the blame game and

(12:33):
want to feel betrayed, he'll probablyfeel he would say God has betrayed him
maybe and he would feel like Godhas hurt him. He had planned to
marry this beautiful girl. She wasa virgin. I'm sure she was loved
by many, but she chose him, and she like he probably had big
dreams for them. And now thisis happening. She's going to be carrying

(12:56):
a baby. And then what wouldhis family say? What do people say,
is you're going to be able tosee the child as his own,
will be able to love this childas his own. You know, I'm
just thinking that probably all this isgoing through his mind, you know,
because remember it also says later thathe had planned to divorce her. Quietly,
and imagine if Joseph actually, like, even despite the Holy Spirit having

(13:20):
to come sorry, the Angel havingintervened, if he still decided to go
ahead, because if feel so hurtor feel so betrayed because the one woman
that he really really loved, youknow, the time you have planned to
marry, the marriage it was probablypostponed. Sorry, And now there's the
nine months of pregnancy, there's givingbirth, there's healing time, and there's

(13:41):
all those things, you know, and he has to wait a little bit
longer. He would have thrown inthe towel, you know. And it
just got me thinking, you know, like daily daily, we face a
lot of this throw in the towelsituations, you know, maybe dealing with
the really tough professor like I am. I don't want to Kata. I
think it's just I don't know,we just can't see things in the same

(14:03):
light. I don't know. Youmight be dealing with maybe a classmate that
you guys never see things in thesame direction. It could be a room
mate, it could be a friend, it could be a spouse whatever that,
it may be a family member. But then if we had to continue
maybe and try to just prey sohard and get to understand that know things,

(14:24):
understand them better, or maybe getto know things better or try to
see things in a different life.Is it possible that some of these things
that come that seem like, oh, like this hurts so bad. I
don't think I ever want to havea friend again. I don't think I
ever want to love again. Idon't think I want to continue with school,
you know, because I've had anexperience that has really just discouraged you.

(14:46):
I don't want to ever set newgoals for myself and new targets because
the first time I tried, Ifailed and I felt so bad. I
made an investment. It was abad investment. I don't ever want to
do it again. Like it canbe anything. Is it possible that maybe
we try to do certain things,we try, we try for certain people,
whatever the case may be, andit doesn't turn out that way,

(15:07):
and it hurts us so badly andwe just want to let it go and
just give it up, when actually, if we can just continue to pick
it up, if we can justtry and forge your head see what's on
the other side, we could actuallyrip something that is way better, you
know. So yeah, I thinkI've talked to a lot, so let
us take a musical break, andthe first one is coming from Mercy Me

(15:30):
and it's entitled even if be blessed. As you listen, they say,
sometimes you win, so sometimes youloose. So run now, run now,

(15:56):
I'm losing stood on this. Staytonight after night, reminding the broken.
It'll be all right, but rightnow, all right now, I
just can't. It's easy to seewhen there's nothing to bring me down.

(16:27):
What will I say when I'm fellto the flame like I am? Ride
now? I know your regable aline, though you can't save the fire,
and your almighty can many if youdon't. My is it you alone?

(16:56):
They say, it only takes alittle fame to move a mountain.
See little faith is all I rideup. God, will you choose to

(17:17):
leave mountains unfable? Oh, giveme the strength to me able to say
it is away with mine? SoI know you're any more. Line know
you can say through the vialume withyour MINEY had money, even man,

(17:42):
you don't min I know sorrowing.I' know the hurt would all go away
if you just say the word. But you know mean you don't really know

(18:07):
you've been say you all my days, Jesus, sid will clean to you,
come one man, because I knowyou're able, I know the care,

(18:33):
I know you're abe, I knowyou can say the mord. You
don't know it's so, I know, don't know the way You're just saying

(18:57):
the word, well will my soit is a well it is well with

(19:40):
my soul. A man. Amen. This song just resonates with me so
so so much, and I hopeit just encourages somebody that even if regardless
your hope, still remain in Jesus, he should still remain in God because

(20:04):
He's able to do above and beyondanything, you know and everything. So
at the end of the day, honestly, what I'm just trying to say,
as the weeks starts, as you'regetting into Monday, can you are
you dealing with a tough boss?Could it be somebody who you think is
always throwing shade at you, aclassmate, a friend or colleague, whatever

(20:27):
that it may be, whatever challengethat might come, what that has been
there. Don't throw in the towelyet, you know you might not know
what God is trying to do.You could be building patience in you perseverance
in you, and sometimes not thatit's always for you, could also be
for the other person where you're receivingwhatever, if it's persecution from you know,

(20:51):
and it would also be that you'retrying to do it for the good
of somebody also's coming behind you.Maybe there's somebody who is watching you,
the somebody who's who, there's somebodydepending on your resilience, if I should
say, And I would also justwant to quickly read from Matthew twenty six,
and I think this is a storythat well, if maybe I'm talking

(21:15):
about Joseph, somebody can be like, oh, well, like Joseph was
Joseph, he was just he washuman like us. But I wanted to
also look at Jesus the moment whenhe almost also threw in the tower,
you know, but he didn't.And the stories from Matthew chapter twenty six,
verse thirty nine, this is whenhe was in the garden of Gethsemane,

(21:37):
and these thirty nine reads going alittle further, he fell with his
face to the ground and prayed,my father, if it is possible,
may this could be taken from me? Yet not as I will, but
as you will, as the regentssay not that mine, but you will
be done. Amen. I thinkit should be an encouragement, and they

(22:00):
prayer for each and every one ofus. It's not always going to be
easy at all, you know. But the more that we were striving,
don't you're striving, we are thriving, uh huh. The more that we're
thriving and wanting to be better people, wanting to do better things, be
it for ourselves, for people, for community, for society, whatever it

(22:23):
is. There's always going to belike things that will stand in the way.
But those things should not be obstaclesbut opportunities. They shouldn't be stumbling
blocks, sorry, but they shouldbe stepping stones. So hold don't to
God regardless of the situation, andyou know that our God is able to

(22:45):
do exceedingly and abundantly above all wecan ever think or imagine. The Bible
in Matthew are read again. Thisis Matthew twenty nine. So in Matthew
nineteen verse twenty six, very veryencouraging a passage Matthew nineteen verse twenty six.
And the barbaries, then Jesus lookedat them and said, with man,

(23:07):
this is impossible. With God,all things are possible. And I
think it's similar in Look one, verse twenty seven to twenty. I think
look on too, they seven saysit a little bit shorter, for with
God, nothing is impossible, SoI think nothing not. I think I
know that nothing is impossible. Youknow, nothing is impossible with God.

(23:27):
So imagine, let's say Jesus decidednot to go to the cross, you
know, imagine Joseph, despite theangel coming to talk to him, he
decided not to take Mary and Mary. Imagine Mary going on that journey all
by herself on the donkey. Idon't know. Probably God I've had another
God would have had another plan. But just imagine. And then I asked

(23:51):
myself to like, I imagine ifthe day, like I said earlier,
if I just said, you knowwhat, I need a change of a
teacher, give me somebody else toto you know, and to be with
to teach me. Because that woman, she's been any and everything like I've
never had I think for my entirehow many years now, Okay, maybe

(24:14):
it's the entire roughly seven years, like having a teacher like who is so
caring like her. Of course thereare many others that have come back for
her. It's different, like sheswitches and she knows when to be my
teacher, she knows when to beauntie, she knows going to be motherly,
if I can call it that way, and I mean it like I
mean this in every ramification, thatshe's just just there and when I look

(24:38):
back, like, what would beof me really if I decided that day
that I didn't want to be withher anymore because the moment when I go
to the office, I didn't getthe reception that I wanted, you know.
So I think it's just really reallyimportant that we try to say things
differently. And yeah, like Isaid earlier, I want this thing to
think in. Really the first catis a test the deepest, It's a

(25:00):
test. There is something good comingahead, and I really just hope we
can hold on and just wait topartake of the good that's coming ahead.
So I'm going to read a fewmore things that can just help us stay
resilient. But I think before Ido that, I also want to read
is there for to one verse ten, which is another very very encouraging scripture.

(25:26):
So as are for to one verseten, the Bible reads, so
do not fear, for I amwith you do not be dismayed. For
I am or God. I willstrengthen you and help you. I will
uphold you with my righteous right hand. So no matter what I think.

(25:47):
The day when I came back fromthe hospital, of course I complained more
than I pray, but as likeGod, when I woke up tuesdays like
today be better. And I rememberthat morning. I think the first few
the first one hour thirty, shedid not like allow any patients to come
in. She talked to me.We talked, she asked me like,

(26:07):
she just asked me about myself. We talked and talked and she's like,
okay, and that's when she madethe decision that will not be using English.
Like she wants to review learn herEnglish again. And she's quite She's
not very odd, but she's likeway older and it's not something that you're
living with the younger doctors like wantingto review and maybe relearn or remember the
English medical terms. No, andfor her just wanted. She she came

(26:30):
with the book she was writing.I say something, we translated she's writing,
you know, and that was it. And it's been like that till
now. So yeah, I hopethis encourages somebody you know as you started
to wait the police, don't throughin the town. Don't do it just
yet, you know, allow Godto take the wheel. And so we're

(26:51):
gonna take the another song and thisis carry and the wood with Jesus take
the way. I hope you're blessedas you listen. She was driving last

(27:14):
Friday, on away to Cincinnati ona snow white Christmas Eve, going home
to see your mommy and Daddy withthe baby in the back seat, fifteen
miles ago. When she was runninglow on faith and gasoline. It had
been a long, hardy She hada lot on her mind and she didn't

(27:37):
pay attention. She was going awaytoo fast. Before she knew she was
spending on a thin black sheet offlats. She saw both the lives flash
before her eyes. She didn't evenhave time to cry, and she was
gold scared. She threw her handsa b the air. Jesus take the

(28:03):
week taken from my house. BecauseI can't do this all night, I
go to get in one on chatstinging from his throne. Jesus takes the

(28:27):
weeds. It was still kidding, called her when she made it to the
shoulder and the car came to hishood. She cried when she saw that

(28:48):
baby in the back sat sleep andblack a rock for the first time in
a law time. She bought herhead to pray, set up sne for
the way happened. Mala, Iknow I've got to change. So from

(29:10):
now on tonight, Jesus is goingtake it from I can't do this,
ally, go give me on mychests. Gear me from this dom James

(29:40):
Jangle, go get on chocks, gear me from Jesus. Chat from a

(30:41):
man. And so, just towind up, I'm just going to share
with us a few things or maybethe reasons we should never give up.
We should never throw in the tire, we should never tiwe well not tile,
we should never throw in the howand reasons why we should see the

(31:03):
first cut as a test, yeah, and not it being the deepest and
so Number one yeah, So whatare some of the benefits or qull them.
Benefits of seeing the first cut asa test and not the first cut
as the deepest. Is number one, the first cut, It will eliminate

(31:25):
your fears number one. Number two, new opportunities for creativity will open for
you. Number three, you willdare to try other things. People are
afraid to do. Number four, your desire will be ignited. Number five,
your emotional intelligence is improved. Numbersix, you will never believe that

(31:45):
any You will believe that anything youcan perceive is possible. Number seven you
become prepared for everything. Number eightyou develop effective work ethics. Number nine,
never given up leads you to happiness. And then number ten you learn
something new. I think these arequite amazing facts and things that we can

(32:08):
run with as we start the week, start the day. And yeah,
I think conclusively the main thing thatI'd just like to share is done through
in the towel. Yet don't giveup. The first cut is not the
deepest. The first cut could justbe a test. So be encouraged to
go for whatever it is that youknow you deserve. You know everything that

(32:30):
you wanted to do, whatever desires, especially the things that God has put
in your heart to do, goforth and just do them because you just
might never know who is watching, who's been inspired and of course the thing
that what is going to do foryou as well, both internally and externally.
So thank you so much for listeningin this is the Victory Mandy Podcast

So if anyone knows, he understands, have a friend, he understands.
He understands. Yeah, and Ifound a friend in the o freends who
