Speaker 1 (00:22):
Sus and Good morning everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Welcome to the aired podcast. Happy Halloween, Happy Friday. We've
got rain showers and kind of a kind of a
scary forecast for the trigger treaters tonight, if they're even
gonna be out winds and rainsh I think it's beautiful though.

(02:17):
I love looking outside right here on the sidewalk North
Main Street and Berry and just seeing a I don't
know it's a rainy day, but we need the rain.
We need it so badly. I'm jumping in this morning.
We have a lot to get to, a lot of
things to talk about. I've got a special guest, Steve

(02:39):
Cotton is standing by. He's going to be on with
me in just a little bit. We're talking about what's
going on with the FED cut and how that may
or may not affect your wallet. But I'm jumping in
this morning to sports because first and foremost it is
the sports world right now is just on fire logan
loose with me. Good morning, Bud, Good morning JD.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
How are we today?

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Brother? I couldn't be better. World Series decided tonight between
the Blue Jays and the Dodgers. Where it's in Toronto,
Man Stand, standing room, only tickets you want. You want
to stand tonight. You don't even want to seat, you

(03:23):
want to stand and watch the game. It's a thousand
dollars ticket bud.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
That's insane. But I mean for starters, I wouldn't want
to stand, especially if there's a chance that we could
have eighteen or nineteen innings. Again, not like it. He
has a stand for eighteen innings. I think I would
go insane.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
But and listen, if you want to be behind home
plate tonight, there's a few seats left. You gotta get
them fast before they're gone. But it's gonna you need
to open up your wallet, Logan because they're twenty grand.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
Yeah, I can't say I'm surprised, honestly, it's the world's series,
especially like over in Toronto.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Yeah, not surprising, but I mean it's ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
It's probably ridiculous, you know, absolutely not. You know me,
You know that I always root for the underdog. You know,
I've been like kind of rooting for the Chase this
whole time. Man, it's like this, we got to talk.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
About, well, we got to talk about specifically for the
Blue Jays. We got to talk about that, uh picture kid,
the twenty three year old Lestrange. Yeah, he plays on
the blue Jays' backup. He got sixteen strikeouts?

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Was it sixteen strikeouts?

Speaker 2 (04:33):
I don't know, man, I just know he's damn good.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
Yeah, he's a good and he's he's young, he's good,
and he's he didn't have like much of a postseason,
you know, up until the playoffs, and so you know,
seeing him play like like this is probably a big
deal for him, and in general, it's a big deal
for the Blue Jays.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Because yeah, hell yeah, uh who are you? Are you
going for the for the Chase tonight?

Speaker 3 (04:57):
I think, yeah, I think I am with you. I
think the underdogs for sure.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
I mean, the Dodgers can still turn this around, but
it would be nice to see the Blue Jays pull
it off.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
I think blue Jays could pull it off, especially with
that comeback against Seattle in the Championship round a couple
of weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Yeah, I think. I think hopes were a little dampered
a few days, you know, a few days ago with
the with the Jays. But man, they have they have
come back strong, and the team wants it. The fans
wanted thirty two years Logan, Oh yeah, no, thirty.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Years is making it's a it's almost you know, it's
almost in the same level as when Chicago the Cubs
finally broke their fifty year curse and the Cubs broke
their careers.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
A couple of years ago.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Uh, let's talk football. Look at the lineup. Oh my god,
it is soft announced man.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
Oh yeah, no, we got a lot of We got
a great set of games this coming week. Honestly, last
night Lamar Jackson stunted on the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Though, yeah, yeah, six amazing.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
I'm looking at I'm looking at this list and I
feel bad for Giants right now.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Giants aren't doing too well. They got so many injuries,
so many injuries. They're like a very beat up team
right now.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Who else was who else was playing last night?

Speaker 3 (06:20):
In terms of football, Well, it's just well, in terms
of football, it was just one game.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
But if we're talking, you know, we had the Boston Bruins, Yeah,
won in overtime last night against the Sabers.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
That was a huge, huge win, huge win. They needed
that for sure. They're doing they're actually doing okay, Like
they started off hot, kind of went downhill, but they
kind of came back.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
So they're kind of in a good comfortable spot, I
would say right now. But and then in terms of
like if we jump over to our friends over at
the NBA, I mean we had Spurs and Heat, San
Antonio being the Heat twenty oh seven.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
To one oh one, Bucks and Warriors game.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Bucks beat the Warriors one twenty one ten. Uh, Thunder
play the Wizards one twenty seven to one oh eight.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Thunder one that one.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
And then the Magic beat the Hornets one twenty three
to one oh seven. So the NBA is also really
doing well right now.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
His a lot going on there too, going into.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Games like five and six so early in the season
for sure.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Yeah, uh, what else? Anything else?

Speaker 3 (07:20):
I mean, the one big.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Topic I guess we could talk about is like we
could talk about Austin Reeves on the Lakers. How Austin
Reeves came out of nowhere and has been helping the
Lakers keep a steady pace with Lebron James and Luka
Doncic both being injured and so Lakers have actually kept
themselves pretty well for being you know, missing their two superstars. Celtics,

(07:42):
I mean, Celtics aren't doing too well right now without
Jason Tatum.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
He's still out for the whole year due to his
care last year he.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Had during the championship, he had that tear, and so
he's gonna be out the entirety of the season.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
He's not expected to return until next season, which that's
a long time. That's a long time without your star player. Yeah, man,
And there's also the question of.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
Like when he comes back, is he gonna you know,
how bad is this injury gonna impact him?

Speaker 3 (08:08):
You know, is he going to have.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
You know, is he gonna come back and play as
good as he was or is he gonna come back
and end up like what happened to Derrick Rose.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
You know.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Now you're gonna be You're gonna be on the air
tomorrow morning.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Oh of course, I am JD. You can find me, Actually,
you can find me tomorrow Athletics. Ten am. I'll be
live here on aired.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Out sounds great, man, look forward to it.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
Awesome. Thanks forward to as well. Thank you, thank you
so much. You guys have a great day.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Yeah. The lineup on Sunday, look at this forty nine Ers, Giants, Chargers, Titans, Vikings, Lions, Falcons, Pats, Colt, Steelers, Broncos, Texans, Bears, Bengals, Panthers, Packers, Saints, Rams, Jaggs, Raiders,
Chiefs and the Bills. That'll be one to to not miss,

(08:58):
and the Seahawks and the Commander's incredible. Yeah, we have
some Fremont news to get to. We got some headlines
that I promise we'll get to. We'll get to all
of it. There's a there's a lot of stuff going
on this morning that we're gonna get to. Get in
some comments here, A little bit of disappointment in your

(09:21):
host of the Aired Out podcast this morning myself that
that I'm not not wearing a Halloween costume. I have
to I have to tell you that's actually an intentional decision.
Yesterday Bob Ross came in here and really shook things

(09:43):
up and not only scared me, but he scared my
co host yesterday, and he scared some some folks out
on the sidewalk. And I'm just trying to decompress, frankly,
and just relax and get it, get it in check.

(10:04):
I mean, Bob Ross, the subject of so many nightmares. Listen,
the Federal Reserve has ah cut borrowing costs for the
second time in a row. They did this on Wednesday

(10:27):
and This decision has come amid intense pressure from President
Donald Trump, who has repeatedly called on FED shared to
her own Powell to drastically lower rates, arguing that it
would make it easier for businesses and consumers to borrow

(10:49):
and boost the economy. This has been, for some kind
of a big story that we've been paying attention to.
Cotton is a financial strategist who has a multi faceted
career and investments in business and government and public affairs

(11:09):
for more than forty eight years. He's the president of
Cotton Wealth Management Associates. Steve, Good morning, Good morning Steve.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
Here are y'all man?

Speaker 2 (11:20):
You know, I am so so honored to have you
on this morning. Does the rate cut provide a psychological
boost to consumers in the stock market? Do you and
do you think that some media outlets are making this
a bigger deal than what it really is?

Speaker 5 (11:42):
Well, it is a big deal. It would normally be
a big deal if we were in more normal times
and we weren't amidst the government's shutdown, the FED has
basically pivoted from a focus on fighting inflation to a
focus on sustaining, you know, stable employment conditions in the country,
and we've seen a softening in the employment base. You know,

(12:05):
we've not seen any indicators we're headed for a recession
at all. But the Fed has now cut rates twice
in a row. They're going to have another Federal Open
Market Committee meeting in December. The betting is they will
cut another twenty five basis points, which is a quarter
of one percent, maybe taking our federal funds rate down

(12:26):
to about three point seventy five to four percent. This
is good in all circumstances. It helps reduce borrowing costs.
It's not good for people that are sitting in CDs
or have cash in bank checking or savings accounts because
the banks lower their rates what they pay for those.
But it's good for business borrowing, for consumer auto loan borrowing,

(12:51):
things like that. But the thing that offsets what would
normally be very positive action is this government shutdown that
persisted thirty five I think, and so it kind of
offsets some of that good news of the rate cut.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Yeah, it's everybody's talking about this this morning. I mean
everybody and their brother. Credit cards one of the main
sources of unsecured borrowing that so many of us have.
Sixty percent of credit card users carry debt from month
to month, according to a March report that just came
out from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Are

(13:29):
you surprised to hear that?

Speaker 5 (13:31):
No, not at all. And I think with the government shutdown,
you're going to have more and more people. They're about
seven hundred and fifty thousand federal workers affected directly or
indirectly by this shutdown. And we're heading into the Thanksgiving
travel season, the Christmas buying season, vacation planning season, and

(13:51):
a lot of people have to resort to credit cards.
But the thing that concerns me is if people are
a day or an hour late on in their monthly
credit card payments, the credit card companies have systems that
jack them up automatically into a penalty rate that's just obscene.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
Yeah, mortgages probably less impacted by the FED, but still
though making up the lion's share of consumer debt. Steve,
how do you think that'll be affected here?

Speaker 5 (14:26):
Well, there is not a direct one to one correlation
between the Federal funds rate that banks charge other banks
for money and thirty year fixed mortgage rates. It's an
indirect relationship. When the FED cuts rates that does help
the environment for the interest rates on long term mortgages,

(14:48):
But there are so many other factors that influence mortgage rates, demand, supply,
all kinds of things. But generally speaking, federal rate cuts
a good thing. They're helpful. The Fed is sustaining the
momentum we're seeing toward lower borrowing costs, and that is positive.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
All right. So I think what you're saying here, to
wrap up in a nutshell, is maybe a little bit
of a positive ripple effect, but nothing that we should
be celebrating too much about. Right now.

Speaker 5 (15:24):
Well, I think the government shut down will be end ended.
It will either end because the Democrats will conclude this
is a loser for them, or it will end because
the Senate Republicans decide to change the Senate rules and
do away with the filibuster in these kinds of situations
so they don't have to get the sixty votes needed

(15:45):
to pass a clean cr It will end. And beyond that,
these federal rate cuts will be in that positive yep.
And I think we've got another one coming in December, hopefully.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Just got a comment here saying I sold most of
my box and bought treasuries stocks and crypto have been
high and will likely retreat. So I have been buying
on the dips. What do you what do you say?
Let's say you about that.

Speaker 5 (16:10):
Well, I think it's good to buy on the dips.
I would not be liquidating good stock positions in the
diversified portfolio because I think all of the things that
we have seen President Trump do in terms of these
these ginormous trade deals, the tariff policy, lowering tariffs on
our goods, you know, all the things he's done to

(16:31):
get countries to lower their non tariff barriers to our
market entry into their markets. All of these things President
Trump has done, the reauthorization of twenty seventeen tax cuts.
All of this is one hundred times bigger in terms
of positive economic impact long term than anything Ronald Reagan
even ever did.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
Wow, damn Steve, what's that now?

Speaker 3 (16:59):
It's that bit?

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Yeah, that's fascinating man. Listen. We we appreciate your time
so much. You got a website? What what is it?
What can we check out on you?

Speaker 4 (17:09):
I do?

Speaker 5 (17:10):
We have clients all over the country. My website is
www dot cotton c O T T O n w
M a dot com. We have clients all over the
country and overseas, and we just love helping people and
being good financial stewards.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Man. I appreciate your time so much this morning. I'd
love to think you back on at some point if
you're if you're up for that.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
Thank you, Steve. It's an honor to be on your
program always.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
You got it, You got it. That's Steve Cotton right there.
We appreciate it so much. Great stuff, amazing stuff. Uh.
And I'm so glad that he was able to share
a few minutes with us this morning talking about this.
He don't forget November fourth. Uh, that's that's coming up.

(17:57):
That's like right around the corner. Man. That's that's Tuesday.
That's your time, that's your opportunity. That's your chance to
exercise your civic duty and get out and vote. If
you haven't done so already. I know a lot of
early ballots have gone out and people have been voting

(18:17):
early on this bound vote right here in the Granite City.
A couple of things here. Article one, the two point
four million dollar infrastructure to support the Stevens Branch apartments,
the big housing project that everybody's talking about here in
downtown Berry City. And Article two, three point three million

(18:41):
bucks needed to make sure that the public works building
is completely coded, outright, built and ready and modified to
be just that, a public garage. So get out, vote,

(19:02):
don't forget. And of course the Central from my Career Center,
I'd be remissed if I forgot to mention that, because
we've been talking about a whole hell of a lot
over the last couple of weeks. Jody Emerson's been on
with us, We've chatted with Nicholas Starelli Castro about it.

(19:22):
That's a big one. CVTCC dot org slash future if
you want to have a look and see what's being proposed.
More than one hundred and fifty students are turned away
each year because of capacity not being able to provide

(19:48):
for them over at the Central from my Career Center.
Price tag one hundred and forty nine million dollars before
all is said and done with. And I know that
a good number of you have spit up your coffee
when you heard that number. It's a lot of money.

(20:09):
It's a lot of money. What's your tax rate going
to change?

Speaker 4 (20:13):
To?

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Hop on cvt CC. They've got a bar graph right there.
Break down in Washington County Town by town of how
your tax bills can be affected. So here we are
on Halloween. We have chaos in the airports right now.

(20:40):
Maybe I shouldn't say chaos because I'll get accused of
fear mongering. We have a lot of delays. We've gone
from two hundred and eighty flight delays as of six
o'clock this morning to just about eight hundred two hours later,

(21:07):
and that was an hour and a half ago. I
can't even imagine what it is right now, but I
am so glad that I am not headed to an
airport right now. I'm telling you you've got the aired
Out podcast. If you're just joining us this morning, Thanks
for streaming, Thanks for listening to us, whether you're on

(21:29):
YouTube or Facebook, anywhere you get your podcasts, or on
the web at airedoutvt dot com. Birthdays. Let's see you
have a few here. Nate Desk, Champs, Ronda Willette, Scott Herring,
Marley Pomeroy, Melinda Woodard, Chris Robertson, Pat Ratt, Sharon Donahue,

(21:52):
Eric Alexander, Jess Beauvaire, and our friend Chris Massey who's
got his haunted garage up on Upper Prospect Street. All
ready to go for you tonight, whether your trick or
treating or not. No matter how old or young you

(22:12):
well maybe not too young, but no matter how old
you are, get over to Chris Massey's house. Where exactly
is that? Just trust me. I think it's three thirty
eight Prospect. But just trust me, You're not going to
have any trouble whatsoever finding Chris Massey's house tonight on

(22:36):
Upper Prospect. It's decked out. It doesn't matter that the
rain is coming down. It doesn't even matter that the
wind will be whipping tonight, because things are going to
be scary as hell over Chris Massey's house. He turns
his garage into pretty haunted. I think last year it

(22:57):
was like a meat factory, meat processing plan, and it
was all kinds of stuff hanging from the ceiling. It's
a lot of fun. Just go tonight and tell my cension.
So those are the birthdays. How about the forecast, and
I'm going to tell you how my night was last night,
which I can hardly wait to tell you. The forecast

(23:21):
is calling for rain showers, and I think most of
us know this by now, that it's coming down and
it's going to continue to and it's going to be
windy and the temperatures are supposed to be What was

(23:42):
it that I saw last night? Thirties, thirties, thirty six
well often on rain showers today fifty one. But yeah
it's tonight, Yeah, mid thirties with some snow late tonight
through the overnight rain showers for the trigger treaters. Between

(24:08):
thirty and fifty percent for most of Vermont tonight, depending
on where you are, between thirty and fifty percent, thirty
five thirty six degrees for the bottom out load tonight
with higher elevation snow showers will stick. I don't know.

(24:29):
November one, tomorrow on Saturday, cloudy and forty two and
then Sunday mostly cloudy and around forty five degrees daily.
Does that feel good? This morning? You know, I was
thinking driving in a mike, what can we talk about

(24:49):
that's local and good news? And I just I just,
you know, I was thinking about a couple of different things,
and I'm like, you know what I'm going to go
with this this morning, because it's right on the tip
of my tongue. It's on my mind and I want
to say it into the microphone. I came home last night,

(25:12):
and Lily, who's a little under the weather right now,
not feeling great, was so happy and excited because at
eleven years old, when she gets something in the mailbox,
it's a big deal. And a lot of us have

(25:33):
forgotten what that feels like, or we're too young to
you know, we'll get a text from someone or whatever,
but to get something in the mailbox is pretty special.
It's pretty cool. And she got a Halloween card from
her friend Barb, who is a lady who lives right
here in Berry City who always mails her Birthday and

(25:59):
Halloween cars and it's just so kind to her. And
Lily was just so happy last night to get a
card from Barb. And I was just like, you know what,
I'm going to talk about that sporting because this a
feel good thing for me. I love that we went
trigg or treating last night. We had some fun. We

(26:22):
had a lot of fun. There's a an area in
in our town that has kind of made it a
tradition to do trick or treating the night before Halloween.
And I don't know how long this tradition has been
around for a couple of years, I'm guessing, but we
went last night and we had such a great time.

(26:44):
Lily is a Harley Quinn for those of you that
are wondering the kid's version, because there's no way in
hell that she would be wearing the same shorts that
Harley Quinn herself whares. Ever, so she's got the kid

(27:11):
version of those shorts, thank god. But uh, you know,
we had a great time. We you know, we we
saw some There were some really cool decorations. Some blood,
some gore, some dismembered bodies, some batstickers on the windows
that look like mustaches, some novelty gravestones. I love the

(27:35):
rest in pieces tombstone. Have you seen that one?

Speaker 4 (27:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (27:43):
It was just awesome.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
Man.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
I just you know, even as an adult, you get
out and you're with the kids who are trick or treating,
and you feel like a kid again. The cobwebs, the
skeletons in the in the wacky poses, the giant skelleton
from Home Depot, the creepy clown heads. It's just so

(28:06):
much fun. By the way, the sports betting site Action
Network just crunched the numbers to find the odds of
each type of candy that is going to be landing
in your kid's Halloween bucket tonight, and they took the
stats from Instacart, door Dash, and a few other candy

(28:31):
sellers and compiled it all together. And they also took
into account population density across America to figure out how
many houses the average trick or treater would be visiting.
The ten most popular here they are, and the odds

(28:54):
of getting at least one of them tonight. Number one,
first and foremost on the list My favorite, and you
already know what that is. It's the Reese's Peanut butter cups.
Sixty seven percent chance of getting at least one. I
would have guessed more like ninety percent. But listen, if

(29:16):
your kid doesn't deliver at least one peanut butter cup
to your face, they have failed Halloween. Last night, Lily
took a couple out of her Halloween pumpkin bucket and

(29:37):
gave them to me, And yes, I accepted them. I
am not going to say no to a Recei's Peanut
butter cup. Ever, don't try to make me because I
won't say no. Number two in the list peanut m
and ms. Love those sixty five percent chance of getting

(29:58):
them tonight when you owe in the little yellow bag
of the peanut Eminem's. My recommendation is that you throw
them all in your mouth at the same time. None
of this one at a time thing, and then the
the you know, the the green gets on your fingers. No,
you just tear open the thing, the envelope, and get

(30:21):
them all in there at once, just an explosion of
peanut goodness. Number three regular eminems. Not a big fan.
I'll take them because they're chocolate, but sixty two percent
likelihood tonight that your kid's gonna get, you know, the
brown envelope there. Number four kit Kats love them sixty percent.

(30:46):
Number five stickers fifty eight percent tonight. So all of
the top five are chocolate. Have you noticed that. Number
six here's something I can pass on. Fifty five percent
chance that you're gonna get sour Patch kids tonight. Not
fan at all. Number seven Hershey's milk chocolate bars. Fifty

(31:08):
percent chance that you're going to get one tonight. Try
to give Sherylyn some Hershey's milk chocolate and see what happens.
She's British. They're not fans of Hershey's, They're fans of
Cadbury or Sherilyn says Cadbury Milky Way forty five percent

(31:34):
chance you're going to get one tonight. Twigs at thirty
three percent love twigs and number ten gummy bears at
thirty three percent. Also something that I'm not a fan of.
Gummy bears. They get stuck in my teeth, They get
stuck between my gums and my teeth, and then what
happens is Sherylyn and I will get into a fight

(31:58):
because I'm going, well goosh for the next hour trying
to get that gummy bear out from underneath my gums,
and she's getting frustrated. Will you stop talking like that
when you just get it done, get it out of there.
And it takes me like a good hour to get
that gummy bear out, So no, I pass on those.

(32:23):
Let's talk about the good old days. The box of raisins,
the toothbrush, the pencil. You remember this, don't you. There's
a two percent chance, according to the same study, that
your kid's going to get a toothbrush tonight. I know

(32:47):
the odds aren't high, but still the odds are there
two percent four percent that they're going to get a
box of raisins, twenty three percent chance that they're going
to find some candy corn in their back. Not a
fan of candy corn, never have been. Yes, Rex is

(33:13):
not able to make it today. One of the things
that I wanted to tell him, and I'll still get
a chance to, is that China has just introduced a
new rule requiring influencers to have official qualifications before discussing

(33:35):
sensitive subjects such as medicine, law, education, or finance, on
social media and politics. Let me say it again. If
you live in China and you want to get online,

(33:56):
you want to get on social media as an influencer
and talk about any of those subject matters, you need
to now have an official qualification. I don't know what
that qualification because I don't know if it means you
have to go to some course get a degree. I
don't know what it is. But Rex and I both

(34:19):
are happy that we don't live in China. See that Salem,
Massachusetts is overwhelmed right now with reckless tourists visiting for Halloween.
I was just down there a couple of weeks ago
with the girls. We had an absolute blast. We did

(34:41):
see some unusual behavior, Actually, we saw a lot of
unusual behavior. And this was the first weekend in October.
It was a while ago. I have had people say
to me, Oh, you've been to Salem during a Halloween.
How close to Halloween?

Speaker 5 (34:57):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (34:57):
A month away? Oh well that's that's not that's nothing.
And I'm like what, Oh yeah, man, if you really
want to ramp it up, you got to go, like
right right up against Halloween or even Halloween itself. You
want to see some whacked out shit. You want to
see people just freaking out, that's the time to go.

(35:20):
The police department has in Salem has just made the
announcement that they are tripling, tripling fines for illegal behavior.
And yes, public drunkenness is one of those behaviors. So

(35:45):
whatever the fine is. If you're hammered and you're taking
your clothes off, or you're fighting in Salem, Massachusetts, or
walking down the street with a running chainsaw, tonight, triple fines.
Be careful. Have you seen Has anyone seen this? The video,

(36:10):
the ring cam video of this woman gleefully punching Halloween witches.
I'll post it up for you. This is here. I've

(36:33):
got it right here. I might as well just share
it with you. This is so I don't understand stuff
like this. Look at that. It's this. It's the same woman.
She's jogging by. She's like, no, I see it, I'm
gonna come back. I'm coming back and I'm gonna do it. Bang,
what is this?

Speaker 5 (36:54):
Here?

Speaker 2 (36:55):
She comes coming back for another one? Holy look too,
here she is at night. Now she's gonna do it.
She's looking Oh God, say it isn't so she couldn't
resist slow hit one, two punch, took out two and

(37:18):
one punch and then the third one a little bit
of trouble with but got him down. I don't is
what's the deal with people? Why would someone do that?
And she's got a grin on her face. She thinks

(37:38):
it's funny. I'm gonna have to link up this story
here and put it on so maybe we can get
her name. Greg says Walnut Street and Berry m Haunted
house in the rain is rain or shine tonight. It's

(37:58):
not gonna be shining, Greg. No toothbrushes or raisins, but
Greg Tobin Davis Walnut Street. And for those of you
that know Greg, you cannot say Greg Tobin Davis without

(38:22):
saying the word Halloween immediately afterwards. This guy lives and
breathes it year round. Sadly, so does Massy. I mean,
the guy's birthday is on Halloween. And then there's Brian
Nichel and Tracy up in Berlin, right up at Berlin

(38:49):
four Corners, the Nichel Haunted Grounds. What a bunch of sickos,
great people, a stupid criminal file. This morning, we have
a woman in New York. I'll put the story up
for I'll put it up right now because here's why.
Because you're gonna say, JD, come on, you're making this

(39:09):
shit up that that can't be true, that doesn't actually
make the news. I just posted it up. There's the
link right there. This woman in New York arrested after
vandalizing a car with condiments, a condiment criminal. From my

(39:39):
understanding in just a quick glance at the article last night,
it was no Relish involved. However, catch up mustard and
mayonnaise and a couple of eggs, just to you know,
get everything permanent. And I don't know if she knew
this person's car, if if she knew whose car it

(40:01):
was or not, but she got busted. How embarrassing to
make the paper in your hometown that you got busted.
Squirt and ketchup and mustard and mayonnaise on somebody's car.

(40:26):
There are other things that you can use other than condiments.
It doesn't have to be ketch up. The link is
there if you would like to read this story. I
will admit, however, I'll take this opportunity right now that

(40:52):
when my brother and I were kids, which some would
say that I m but when we were kids, we
we would go into McDonald's with mom and dad and

(41:12):
we would grab a handful of the little ketchup packets
and we would try try hard to sneak out of
McDonald's quicker than mom, and get out to the car
and take that handful of McDonald's ketchup and jam them

(41:39):
underneath the uh, the back tire, knowing that Mom was
going to reverse, and we would hear the pup and
we would have a good laugh about that. Am I

(42:01):
admitting this on the area? Sam? Does that make me
a bad person? That's up to you to decide. Today
the thirty first, I know the weather's not going to
be great, although it looks like the sun is trying

(42:22):
to poke through and the rain is still coming down
here in Bury, but it's a bright, sunny rain right now.
At least the weather's not going to be great. But
Berry City Main Street trick or treating. It's this afternoon
starts at four o'clock from four to five. A lot
of the businesses up and down North Main Street here

(42:44):
are going to be given out candy pack an umbrella
for the kids. It's I think it's it's intentional that
they're doing this before it really gets like super dark.
Four to five is not bad at all. Still afternoon,
not dark yet. But if you have a kid who's
going to be out trick or treating tonight, umbrella or

(43:06):
no umbrella in the rain and in the dark, cover
them with some you know, glow sticks or something flashlights,
just and listen. If you're out driving tonight anywhere, slow
the hell down and be careful, okay, please. Tomorrow, Saturday,

(43:29):
November first, couple of things in the community calendar, brought
to you by the World, Central Vermont's favorite weekly newspaper,
Vtdashworld dot com, National Lifecraft Fair. Read about that on
the front page of the World. It is free and
it's tomorrow and it's going on like all day again Tomorrow, Saturday,

(43:54):
November first. Also the eleventh annual Granite City five K
starts at nine am tomorrow morning. Capstone Community Action is
where it gets started. I know that you probably think
I'm going to be running. I will not. I will
not be running in that um looking ahead here, and

(44:18):
it's just a couple of things. November fifteenth the annual
Glitz and Glam gala at the Elks seven o'clock. That's big.
A lot of people go to that and have fun time.
I want to ask you this morning, and please, if
you know the answer to this, please help me and
let me know. Does anybody know anything about the sox

(44:41):
sale going on in Northfield. I know it's been an
annual thing. I think that the only year that they
ever missed was was COVID. But I'm wondering about the
sock sale. Haven't seen anything on that, and I'm concerned
because those of you that know me know that I
love I collect socks and I have bins, bins, large

(45:06):
totes of socks at home. I'm talking hundreds of pairs,
and I don't want to miss the sox sale this year.
Sherilyn will will absolutely not let me go, so I
if I do go, I will have to sneak, which
I've done before the last time I went to the
sox sale. I'll tell you right now, it's two hundred

(45:29):
and twenty five bucks. And some people say, JD you seriously,
you have a sock problem. And I know this. It's okay.
I like dry warm feet. November twenty second at the

(45:50):
UH Barry Oaks Lodge, the annual hoop shoot in high school.
Ten am doing this in conjunction with the Elks National Foundation.
I want to make sure I get that on the

(46:11):
air too, and I'll be posting up that graphic too,
so be paying attention for that. What else my community calendar,
That's what I'm showing this morning. What else do we

(46:31):
have this morning? Some of these creepy clown heads that
I've seen that are kind of jumping out on online.
There's like these little things, you know, you, oh, look
at this, and you're watching it, and you're you're getting closer,
and you you're you're distracted, You're paying attention to something,

(46:53):
and all of a sudden it explodes with this big
clown that jumps out at you and you scream. Some
of you have sent me some of those on messengers
on Facebook Messenger, please stop. Uh. Last night I let
out a scream and some gas at the same time.

(47:14):
When that when I saw that we don't need that anymore.
Facebook Question of the Day, here's one that I'm gonna
post up here in just a little bit, and I
want to see what you have to say about this.
The and it's a kind of a two part question.

(47:36):
I really want to see some comments here about this.
The Medicare telehealth coverage it has uh are are you
a Vermonter who relies on this? It has ended? Do

(47:57):
you know someone who relies on this Medicare telehealth coverage?
It's done? And I wonder what the impacts on this
are going to be. I can only wonder. Tens of

(48:21):
thousands of Vermonters are going to lose their Medicare advantage
option next year. That's huge, and I wonder if you're
one of them. And if you are, I would love
to hear from you. I would love for you to

(48:47):
come on the air and talk about that. Of course,
I could reach out to someone under the Golden Dome
and have them in here too, maybe say everything that
you want to here, But I would rather hear from
the average Joe. I'd rather hear from the Vermonter who's

(49:09):
going to be impacted by this. I'm going to post
this up as soon as I got off the air
this morning, up on the Facebook page, and I want
to see what you have to say about this. There's
some real concern here and it's intense. The Vermont Eboard

(49:36):
has just approved a plan to fully fund SNAP benefits
during the government shutdown. The Vermont Emergency Board. Yes, they
approved state funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program also

(49:57):
known as SNAP despite the ongoing shutdown. What do we do?
I've lost I've lost count thirty two days, thirty five days,
something like that. I'm going to talk about the airports
here in just a little bit, lie Heap. The Low

(50:21):
Income Home Energy Assistance Program is moving forward as scheduled
as there's been enough funds to appropriate it. According to lawmakers,

(50:42):
SNAP or three squares Vermont going to be funded by
six point three million dollars from a state emergency fund
right here in Vermont that was included in the previous
Were you aware of this? The emergency fund is made

(51:06):
up of roughly fifty million dollars. I was reading this
on PTZ last night. This is the first time it's
being used this year, fifty million bucks and we're pulling
six point three out of it. If you thirty one days,

(51:34):
thank you, Mary. If you read the article, it will
tell you that the money will fully fund the first
fifteen days of the November SNAP benefit fifteen days, and
we'll support the approximately thirty eight thousand Vermont households enrolled

(51:58):
in the SNAP program that includes a total of about
sixty five thousand people. Fifteen days. Will it be long enough?
Will our government be open? Then? Will Congress get the

(52:24):
memo that it's their fundamental responsibility to take care of
its people and do whatever the hell they've got to
do to keep our government open. And as I said
last week, we're headed headfirst into the holidays, Thanksgiving, one

(52:45):
of the busiest travel times of the entire year, if
not the busiest. And look what's happening in the airports.
I'll talk about it a little bit. The Department for
Children and Families Economic Services Division is going to be
distributing the funds for SNAP benefits on or before November seventh,

(53:07):
using your existing EBT card. Brian is reminding me. I
wasn't aware of this, but he's he's reminding me to

(53:27):
discuss the Melissa Martins story. The Vermont teacher high end
cocaine at the Barrytown School. The police cam, unedited police

(53:49):
bodycam video of that has reached, according to Brian, one
point two million views on the Law and Crime Network,
which was released. Was it two nights ago? Yeah, not
last night, night before and I posted it up and
it's you know, it's exploded. I didn't realize it was

(54:14):
over a million views though. Incredible And if you haven't
had a chance to see that, and I know I
haven't talked. I didn't talk about it yesterday. I know
Bob Ross was in here being a pain in the ass.

(54:34):
I haven't really talked about this lately and and I
probably will next week. But after watching that video, there
were a lot of feelings that I had, And there
were also a lot of feelings I had after I
read Melissa Martin's post on Facebook, the whole different set

(54:59):
of feelings, yes, but it was the full game between
concern sadness, frustration, a lot of a lot of feelings
after watching that that video And if you haven't yet,

(55:19):
it's on the aired out page, scroll down you'll see it.
It's alarming. It's alarming. Uh. This morning I was I
stopped off at the Waste River store and grabbed a

(55:40):
cup of coffee and could see that they were they
had a collection for nonperishable food items for the community.
And I'll post a pictures up here in a little bit.
But I love seeing stuff like that. I love to
see community helping our community so great. One of the

(56:07):
headlines that I saw last night, and I know there's
a lot of stuff about the whole snap thing, is
the foodshelves and the meal services that are bracing themselves
more than ever before. Partly and maybe even mostly because

(56:33):
of the government shutdown, but there's other reasons. Man, listen,
if you're kind of exempt from inflation, you're really lucky.
I mean, everybody's feeling it. I would like to get
meals on wheels. On the air with me, we're going

(56:57):
to be talking a lot more about pack the pantry
which is coming up really soon over at the Price
Shopper parking lot, and the effects that that has on
our community. Yes, staying right here in Central Vermont. Everything donated,

(57:20):
there's never been. I know, it's like maybe last year
we said the same thing, there's never been, but I'm
saying it now. There's never been more demand. There's never
been a greater need. Everybody needs help right now and

(57:40):
allowed that karma to come back into your life. If
you can find a can find a bag something and
donate it, goodness will come back to you. At least
I believe it will. There's a lot to be said
about that. We could talk about that every single day

(58:04):
on the air, but I'll post something that I read
about this last night, the effects of what's happening right
here in the Green Mountain State. There's a few stories
that are still buzzing, that are still picking up momentum

(58:25):
here in Vermont. The Vermont State Police discovered human remains
well searching for a missing migrant up in I think
it was j Jpeak area. This all happened Wednesday, big story,
frea key. The Supreme Court is dealing with Vermont's voting

(58:48):
policy still, which allows legal residents to vote in local
elections regardless of citizenship status. What a mess, especially with
November fourth right in front of us. Williston's new ice

(59:09):
facility is offering a fifty thousand dollars sign on bonus,
and they're looking for new employees to staff their call
center right now. Fifty thousand dollars sign on bonus. You

(59:29):
know what, that screams to me. Nobody wants to do
that job. Chittenden County's years long backlog of criminal cases
is still getting the attention of lawmakers and those in
the criminal justice system right here in Vermont. Still, that's

(59:55):
a subject that I have been talking about into this
microphone for years. They don't have a handle on it.
Zach Waite and Sarah George are going to be very
busy for the next few months, and Governor Scott will

(01:00:20):
make sure that they are. They have got to get
a handle on it. It's just listen. I don't have
the answers. I don't know how to even begin to
figure out something like that. But jeez, man, holy shit,
you get in trouble today and you get to the

(01:00:44):
uh to the bottom of the list, it's called to
me a long time before you're in front of the judge.
By the time your number comes up, they will probably
be forgotten. I don't know, man, I know it's a
little outrageous, but it's just this is this is insane. Insane. Tomorrow,

(01:01:09):
November one, the resignation of Northfield Police Chief Pierre Gomez
will be official. I don't know if you've read the story.
It's got some pretty pretty deep roots. There's a lot
to be said about that story, a lot to be

(01:01:34):
said about Northfield. I mean there's thumbs up and thumbs
down about every freaking town in this entire state, Okay,
and I've heard all kinds of things about Northfield, good
and not so good. I would say probably more good. However, mhm,

(01:02:01):
I love Northfield right now. With what they're doing in
the with the construction in Northfield is an absolute shit show.
If you can, uh, you can skirt around. There's some detours,
but man, it is there. What they're I don't know
what the hell they're doing new sewer lines, what do

(01:02:24):
they think? The entire road is ripped up. It's a mess.
If you're in a rush and you need to get
through Northfield, guess what you're gonna be late. But anyway,
I have reached out to the chief, Pierre Gomez. I've

(01:02:45):
asked him to come on the air, and at one
point it looked like that was going to happen, and
I suspected that he was going to tap the brakes.

Speaker 4 (01:02:59):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
But with his resignation effective tomorrow, and I think his
intention is to move back to Pennsylvania if I'm not mistaken,
but I would hope that he might be willing to
share a microphone with me and tell his side of

(01:03:25):
the story of why he's resigning, and I'll leave it
at that. That's some of what's going on and from
mount right now, it's just a little bit. Multiple airports

(01:03:50):
are experiencing and expecting ground delays because of staffing shortages,
mostly the controllers. And last night I was chatting with

(01:04:12):
a friend who is going to be trying to fly
out of Logan today and I'm not sure that they're
going to be getting off the ground. I don't know
if you've got travel plans in the near future, but
if you do, especially if it's a vacation, you might

(01:04:35):
want to double check and make sure that you got
the insurance. I'm not sure what's going to happen. No
one knows what's going to happen. But the FAA National
Airspace System Status page is showing that ground delays are
being experienced everywhere all major airports, and there's a advisories

(01:05:00):
everywhere due to the ongoing government shut down. Air traffic
controllers and other staff are being impacted. You think they
completely missed their paychecks on Tuesday. According to my calendar,

(01:05:26):
today's Friday, Tuesday. They didn't get a paycheck. I think
some folks in the government got partial paychecks, but the
air traffic controllers, many of them got zero dollars. Stop

(01:05:51):
and think about that for a little bit. Let's hope
that if they're married, that their spouses are not being
impacted and there's a little bit of money coming in.
There was this one father that was interviewed saying, and
I think it was Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy along with

(01:06:16):
the head of the controllers union, where talking about this
one father who was saying that his little girl is

(01:06:39):
sick and that her medication is pricey. This was at
the news conference a couple of days ago at La Guardia.
And I don't know if you heard the sound bites
where Sean Duffy said, and I'm quoting here, and I'm

(01:07:01):
watching air traffic controllers go into work. I'm getting the stories.
They're worried about paying for medicine, they're worried about paying
for food. I've got a message from a controller that
says I'm running out of money and if my daughter
doesn't get the medicine that she needs. She'll die. That's
the end these A lot of these air traffic controllers

(01:07:27):
are saying, I've got to find another job quickly. The
president of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, guy of
the name of Nick Daniels, reminding us all of the

(01:07:52):
pressures that these controllers are facing, they have got to
be one hundred percent focused, one hundred percent of the time.
In the meanwhile, the FAA is restricting the number of
flights landing and taking off at airports everywhere because of

(01:08:16):
the shortage of controllers to ensure safety. There's no way
to predict when and where delays might happen. Some of
the delays are, you know, thirty minutes an hour, some

(01:08:37):
are two or three hours, and some have had to
stop all flights temporarily. What are they doing circling around
for hours, burn and fuel because they can't touch down

(01:08:59):
because not enough air traffic controllers. This what an absolute cluster.
The longer the shutdown continues, the longer the in, the
more intense the pressure will be on Congress, which so

(01:09:19):
many of us are imploring to open the government. So far,
Democrats and Republicans have really shown little sign of reaching
a deal to fund the government. And now we've got
the filibuster being brought into it now and immense pressure

(01:09:45):
coming from Trump. What else is going on national headlines here?
Oh yeah, this is great. World's largest food company Nestley
cutting sixteen thousand jobs. Why automation and technology aka robots?

(01:10:10):
Two Mississippi sheriffs and twelve officers charged in drug trafficking
bribery scheme. Wow. Jet Blue passengers hospitalized after emergency landing
in Florida. Did you hear about this? Credible? The New

(01:10:34):
York governor declaring a state of emergency because of snap
benefits being affected by the federal government shutdown on Thursday.
They announced yesterday they're committing an additional sixty five million
bucks in state funding to provide emergency food assistance, sixty

(01:10:59):
five million to support food banks and food pantries that
distribute and estimated forty million meals a month. We got

(01:11:23):
the story about the California activists who took chickens from
some of the plants at the Purdue Farms. Jury convicted her.
We have this story about and I'll post all of
these up if you want to read them. About the

(01:11:44):
teacher who was shot by a six year old student.
Six year old student who brought a gun to school,
took mom's gun out of the top dresser drawer, brought
it to school and shot her teacher. She's alive, but

(01:12:08):
she's testifying in her forty million dollar lawsuit against the
former assistant principal who was given a warning about this
sixty year old actually having the gun. But poo poo.

(01:12:28):
Did We have a three star general who's been pushed
out amid tensions with Pete Hegseth Lieutenant General Joe McGee,
the director for Strategy, Plans and Policy on the Joint Staff,
not getting along with Pete. He's done. I'll have that

(01:12:51):
story for you, three charge Street, three star general. Unbelievable
uh in the world, President Trump's nuclear testing, comments of
bending decades of US policy, global concern here anyone. I'll

(01:13:17):
post that up for you. Also, going to be posting

(01:15:57):
for black Phone two the Paramount, go to a movie tonight.
When you when you answer your door, make sure the

(01:16:20):
kids are saying trick or treat. A lot of kids
and I saw, I've seen this. The kids will just
stand there. They won't say anything. Make your your child
or the kids that you're with, say trick or treat

(01:16:41):
and thank you. Halloween candy is up fifty seventy three percent.
I thought it was fifty it's up. It's way high.
This year. People are spending a lot of money, So

(01:17:05):
make sure that your kids are at least saying thank you, okay,
and give them some love tonight. They're out in the rain.
They're going to be out in the rain. If they're out,
gives them some positivity. Say wow, look at that. Oh

(01:17:26):
my god, you look amazing. I know so many people
do that, make a big deal about their Halloween costumes. Okay, tonight,
have some fun with them. Keep your porch light on
until you run out of candy. Have some spooky music

(01:17:49):
playing in the background. Give them a smile. They're out
there in the in the rain, in the wind, all
for a candy bar. Again, have fun with them tonight,
all right, and make sure you're taking care of whoever

(01:18:14):
you're with, that they can be seen, that they're not
running across the street, that they're safe, they're happy, they're visible. Okay, okay,
I'm a fantastic rest of your Friday. Happy Halloween everybody,
TGIF and good luck to all the trigger treaders that

(01:18:37):

four o'clock. It's going to be a lot of fun,
even if it is raining. Have fun tonight.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
