Speaker 1 (00:01):
Come on, man, we can do better. Recently I took
a trip back east. I'm actually on the layover in
Denver right now, so if you hear some background noise,
that's what it is. For a bio. Check the link
in the show notes. Please like, subscribe, leave review, and
share with somebody who think would benefit from this. But

(00:24):
the reason I'm doing this is because I recently went
on a trip back East, which rarely will I go
back there unless it's something like going to my sister's wedding,
which I love. My sister blessed to be able to
go see her get married, and I was actually doubly
blessed to be able to perform the wedding ceremony for
my sister, as I am an Orbaine minister. But a

(00:48):
few things just struck me in the face, just slapped me.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Because this is the final border.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
Because I generally run in a certain circle, and that
circle is fairly in shape, armed dangerous when it's called
for healthy adult males, a lot of them survivalists preppers,

(01:21):
one because I have that kind of prepper group and community,
and two because of the nature of the major money
getting job that I do, which is not this podcast
which is private security contracting for the federal government, different agencies,
different locations, just the prerequisites of that job. You have

(01:42):
to have military law enforcement background, quite a bit of it,
and I tend to associate with like minded people. And
the area that I like to live in, that I
live in on purpose what I would call the wild
West one Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, maybe you could throw in

(02:05):
northern Utah in there, places that are still wild and free.
I live there on purpose. Many of the men that
live there do the same, and for many of the
same reasons. They like to hunt and fish and forage
and be outside in wild, rugged places. Well, I don't
know how much of this is going to be because

(02:26):
I went to the East coast or just because I
got out of my influenced group, but let's start off
with a big one. Big men, and I don't mean
big in a good way. The amount of out of
shape adult males east of the Mississippi and I was
particularly in the Baltimore area, but the amount of out

(02:47):
of shape adult males was really sad. I'm not here
to shame anybody or anything, but we can do better.
We can do better than that. You're not just in
shape by accident. The kind of food and the amount
of food and the portions pushed on the average American mail,

(03:08):
it's atrocious.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
But that's no excuse. Don't just let life happen to you.
Don't just let.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Diet happen to you. You as a man, should have
control over that. And you're just not going to be
healthy by and large in a post industrial Western society
with the amount of exercise you get in your regular
day to day life, you have to go out of your.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Way to exercise. And right, I've done all episodes on that.
But you go for a walk, go for a ruck
with a pack on, go for.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
A run, go to the gym, be creative, get a bike,
get a rowboat a rowboat. Ride to work, you know,
on a bike or something.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Just start somewhere, walk to work if you can.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
The amount of exercise the average American mail gets is insufficient,
and the amount of food and the type of diet
the average American mail gets pushed is way inappropriate. There's
a lot of other things that go into health. But
you know, calories in has to be equal to calories

(04:24):
going out. If you have more than that, you gain weight.
If you have less than that you lose weight. It's
a simple mathematical equation. You make all the excuses that
you want, but you can't get fat if you don't
eat surplus calories.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Period.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
There's two parts of that equation, the amount of calories
you take in and the amount of calories that you burn.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
But men, we can do better.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
A lot of these observations are not scientific, but they're anecdotal.
But just walking around the airports when I got back East,
the the amount of men, like not even like young men,
teenagers trying to be cool, like middle age adult males
that were smoking on the East Coast, in like.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
The Baltimore area. I was not used to that.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Now. Don't get me wrong, men men smoke out West too,
but it's it's nothing like back east. I mean, you
have just like middle age regular males just smoking.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
I don't know why that is now.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
I again, the circles I run in, especially the people
of work. They are required to have a military law
enforcement background.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Many more of them have a law.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Enforcement or many more of them have a military background
than a law enforcement background. And it's rare me being
one of those rare, you know, rare exceptions that didn't
smoke in the military didn't used to back when the
military many many, many people in the military do, but
most people.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
I work with don't. They stopped.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
I don't know what the correlation causation is for that
East versus West. Maybe it's just that there's there's a
store everywhere in the East. Like you're gonna there's gonna
be some store.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Within five miles of you.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
So I guess if you're trying to quit, it's easier
if there's no store around where you can get stuff.
Maybe that's I'm just spitballing. I don't know, but something's
going on because just the amount of people that smoke
on the East Coast, and especially in that mid Atlantic
tidewater area, just it was I mean, do what you

(06:32):
want as a grown man. I'm not saying the government
should ban it or anything, but if that's what you
want to be doing, but if not, you know, we
can do better.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
The other thing that struck.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Me in again, I know, maybe I'm fairly unique in
the circles that I run, but the amount of men
that walk around unarmed, well, let's start off with knives.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
The amount of grown men.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
That walk around without a knife, I just it blew
my mind, Like what kind of man walks around without
a knife.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
I went to uh, I went to, well, you heard
about the wedding.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Actually, my family is not super affluent and not very opulent,
so we did a lot of the prep ourselves, food prep,
you know, decorations, setting up, tearing down.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
I guess you could add.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
A florist to my resume now, but we did a
lot of that stuff ourselves. And one of the things
I carried back was a multi toool. The amount of
times I used that multi toool, like use the hammer,
use the pliers, use the knife, and I had other
I had other knives like that was in addition to
my my knife that I carried. The amount of times

(07:40):
I used that was staggering of women, but also men
asking if I had a knife, like why don't you
have a knife. You're an adult male past puberty, Like
why do you not have a knife on you? And
then that goes to guns. I know that Maryland is
not the most gun friendly state.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Thankfully, my.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Sister's new husband, he's in the guns and he has
this carry permit in Maryland, and he he was carrying
and said that he carried on a regular basis, I
have no reason to doubt him. He carried kind of
a kind of an older antiquated gun, but hey, at
least he was carrying, at least he was packing. But
the amount of men that just walk around unarmed on

(08:26):
a daily basis, I don't get it, especially you know,
in places less restrictive than Marylyn. Maryland's one of the
worst states in the country, I would say, period, but
also in regards to gun laws and knife laws and
things like that. But again, men, we can do better.

(08:49):
You know, if you're an adult male and you're not
a pacifist, you're not anti gun or something, which if
you're listening to this year, probably not. I'm just gonna
go on on a limb. Why are you walking away
without a gun? Why why would you even do that?
I get there are certain circumstances where you might not
be able to do. I'm at the airport right now,

(09:10):
but I paid the extra money to bring a gun
with me, and I'm not telling.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
You what to do as far as laws and stuff go.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
But laws going over right, God's laws number one, And
then I would say, the highest law of the land
for the United States is the US Constitution shall not
be infringed. Sounds like a pretty good carry permit. Then
you do what you want with that. So I don't

(09:41):
want to be too down on anybody, but but just
just some things that just slap me pretty hard. Just
maybe I don't know how much of that was being
on the East Coast, being in a people hive. I
don't know how much of that was geographical, cultural me
just getting out of my unique circumstances that I live in.

(10:06):
So with that, the tactical tip of the day, if
you are going to a wedding or I would throw
in any other big event, think about taking a multitool,
a leatherman in addition to your EDC gun, in addition
to your EDC knife, your EDC GIT, maybe a leatherman.
The amount of times that came in handy I can't
even recall. But having some kind of and I say

(10:29):
leatherman like people say AR fifteen, right, even if it
wasn't made by Armilite, Just some kind of decent multitool.
Consider that, if you're going to a wedding or something,
be the guy that has the solution, not the guy
that has to go to somebody else for the solution.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
If you don't have to. That's your tactical tip of
the day, your tactical verse of the day.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Since we touched on it, Jesus himself said, he who
has no sword, sell his cloak and buy one. Thanks
for listening, and have a blessed day.
