Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello and welcome. Today. I'm gonna be talking about walking
the line between two things we are told to do
as followers of God, as following the Bible, that they
are not mutually exclusive, but they are hard to do

(00:20):
at the same time. The first one watch and be ready.
Watch and be ready now. In the Gospel of Matthew,
Jesus talks about the end times. He says, but he
who endures the end will be saved. And he also
says there will be great tribulations such has not been
seen since the beginning of the world till this time,

(00:44):
nor ever shall be just quick as I we don't
know what that is. I'm not telling you it's tomorrow.
I am not a false prophet. There are pretty stiff
penalties for false prophets in the Bible. Jesus himself says,
but of that day and hour, no one knows, not
even the angels of heaven, but my father own. So
anybody that tells you they know, Jesus themselves says, they're

(01:07):
only God knows. But what that means is we're supposed
to watch and be ready. Preceding these words, talks about
this in Matthew twenty four. He says, watch therefore, for
you do not know what hour the Lord is coming.
And then also he says, therefore you also be ready,
for the Son of Man is coming at an hour

(01:28):
you do not expect, he tells us very plainly. Then
he tells a parable about the ten virgins. Some are
prepared and some are not. And towards the end of
that parable, he says, watch therefore, for you know neither
the day nor the hour in which the Son of

(01:49):
Man is coming. We are called to watch and be ready.
We are called to watch and be ready. And call
me what you want, a survivalist, a prepper, whatever that's
I would own either one of those titles. That's not
the most important part of watching and being ready. The
most important component is a spiritual component. None of us

(02:12):
is guaranteed tomorrow, so we should live for God today.
I don't apologize for that. We're also called to watch
and be ready, right, and that accounts for physical stuff too.
Jesus himself said to his disciples, let he has no sword,
sell his cloak and buy one. I'm a man that

(02:34):
carries a gun. I carry a knife. Made my way
in this world with a bible and a gun for
a long time, and I don't apologize for that. We
are called to watch and be ready, watch and be ready.
We are also called now we are also called to

(02:55):
not be anxious, not be in fear. That is the
second part that I was going to talk about. That
may seem like they can be mutually exclusive, but they
are not. Just as we are called to watch and
be ready for we don't know that they or the
hour the Lord is returning becomes today, becomes tomorrow, becomes
in a thousand years, whatever day that is, we should

(03:16):
be ready. And we also know there's a great tribulation
coming that makes many people anxious. But we're not called
to be anxious. We're not called to live in anxiety
and fear. You have to balance those things. Bible says,
be anxious for what, Be anxious for nothing. Be anxious

(03:37):
for nothing, but in everything, with prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving,
Let your request be made known to God. And the
peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your
hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Be anxious for nothing Jesus.
In the same Gospel of Matthew says, therefore, I say

(03:57):
to you, do not worry about your life what you
or what you will drink, Nor about your body what
you will put on, is not life more than food,
in the body more than clothing. Look at the birds
of the air, for they neither sow, nor reap, nor
gather into barns. Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are

(04:18):
you not of more value than they? Which of you,
by worrying, can add one cubit to his stature? So
why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of
the field, how they grow. They neither toil nor spin.
And yet I say to you that even Solomon, in
all his glory, was not a rayed like one of these. Now,
if God so close the grass of the field, which

(04:38):
today is and tomorrow was thrown into the oven, will
he not much more clothe you, O, you of little faith. Therefore,
do not worry, saying what shall we eat, or what
shall we drink, or what shall we wear? For after
all these things the gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father
knows that you need all these things. But seek first
the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these

(05:00):
things shall be added unto you. Therefore, do not worry
about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. So we're
called to watch and be ready for end times, for
great tribulation, for persecution. Right, those things are going to happen.

(05:22):
But we're not called to live in fear. Do not
be afraid. The Bible says that so so many times,
do not be afraid, do not be afraid. So here
we are to walk this line between watching and being ready,
being prepared, but not being in fear, not being anxious.

(05:46):
And here's the thing about worry and fear and anxiety,
they're not helping you. If there's something you can do,
do it and don't worry about it. If there's nothing
you can do, then don't worry about it. There's nothing
you can do about it, but worry and anxiety and fear.
That's not a state God wants you to live in.
About tomorrow. Don't worry about tomorrow. Do you not trust

(06:07):
in God that he'll take care of you? Yes, be prepared, Yes,
watch and be ready. You know, if you're called to
carrious word, curious ord like Jesus commanded, be good with it.
But the thing about fear, anxiety, a lot of times
those can in their worst state paralyze people literally, like
there's flight or fight and then there's freeze and freeze.

(06:31):
A lot of times due to anxiety and fear, people
will literally freeze. Now that can be an acute thing,
but it can be like a lifelong condition for some people.
You people can get so anxious and so afraid of
what might happen, they don't do anything. That's not a
state we're called to live in. Now, you gotta walk
this line too. I think it's less crucial because most
people have this in them. But you know, when Jesus

(06:53):
is led I was just reading this morning when Jesus
was led into the wilderness be tempted by the devil,
by Satan. And one of the things he tempts it
was he's like, throw yourself down, for it is written
he will bear you up LEAs you dash your foot
against the stone. And Jesus replies, you shall not put
the Lord your God to the test. Right, don't do

(07:14):
something for no reason that puts your life in danger.
If it's not to save somebody else's life or something
like that. Don't be foolish, but also don't live in fear.
A lot of times that paralyzing. Fear and anxiety can
stop you from reaching goals that you're supposed to have.
God gives us talents and tells us to use them
right the parable of the talents. Don't be so paralyzed

(07:35):
with fear and anxiety. That's literally what that wicked and
lazy servant does. He's paralyzed with fear because he's afraid
of what might happen, So he hides the talent in
the ground, and he gets chastised for it. It takes
it away from him and gives it to the one
who has more talents that used them. So don't be
paralyzed by fear and anxiety. Yes, we are called to
watch and be ready, and some people don't do that.

(07:57):
Some people just pretend like everything's gonna be fine all
the time. They don't prepare at all. Of which case,
I would point to the verse on looks the aunt
you sluggard. Well, these are all things that we have
to balance, and of course weigh in on all God's
other commandments. You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery,

(08:19):
you shall not steal, You shall not bare false witness
against your neighbor. You shall not covet your neighbor's house.
You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant,
nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey,
nor anything that is your neighbor's. His commandments just six
through ten. We're called to balance these things. Here's the thing.
Nobody said it was going to be easy to be

(08:39):
a Christian. You remember when it says who builds a
tower without first counting the cost? There is a cost
of being a Christian. It's a beautiful reward, and it's
totally worth it, but there is a cost. And sometimes
I'm not gonna lie. It's a hard path. And Jesus
himself says as much. Narrow and difficult is the way.

(09:06):
Now we read when we opened a little bit from
Matthew six Matthew seven. Therefore, whatever you want men to
do to you, do also to them, for this is
the law. And the prophets enter by the narrow gate.
For wide is the gate, and broad is the way
that leads to destruction. And there are many who go

(09:26):
in by it. Because narrow is the gate, and difficult
is the way which leads to life, and there are
a few who find it. Beware of false prophets right
because narrow is the gate, and difficult is the way
which leads to life, and there are few who find
it right. Narrow and difficult. We have to walk that line.

(09:50):
We have to walk that narrow path, and nobody's perfect.
We don't take every perfect step. But hopefully when we
veer off that path one way or another, getting too anxious,
still back on the right path. When we get too
wax and not watching and being ready as if a
God could come today or tomorrow, watching and being ready spiritually, mentally, physically,

(10:13):
using the talents we've been given, then hopefully we correct
on that path back to the proper, straight and narrow path.
Narrow and difficult is the way. Jesus promises so much
eternal life, salvation, living water, the bread of life. He

(10:35):
promises a life and a life abundant. He promises an
abundant life, but he doesn't promise an easy path. That's
for the many. If you're the few, the chosen, the
holy Kadash, be better walk that line, walk the difficult path,

(10:56):
one of watching him, being prepared for the Savior to return,
living your life such a way that if Jesus comes
back today, you say, Holy Holy, Holy is the Lord
God Almighty, who was and is and is to come,
the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.
You're you're happy to see a joyful return. You should
be living your life in such a way as you're
joyful at the returning of the Lord, when many other

(11:19):
people are going to be in fear. Not Oh he's
coming today. Why I had better get my life in
order because I'm not doing what I'm supposed to do.
And again, nobody's perfect. I'm not perfect. That's why we
need the blood of Christ. They're called to live our
life in such a way that if Jesus comes back tomorrow,
we are happy about it. Right when the day of

(11:39):
the Lord returns, when we see in Revelation, that's not
the day to get your life in order. From Revelation
twenty two. Let the one who does wrong continue to
do wrong, and let the vile person continue to be vile.
Let the one who does right continue to do right,
and let the holy person continue to be holy. Watch
and be ready expect the return of the Lord. But

(12:01):
don't be anxious about it. Don't be in fear, don't
live in fear. Don't live in anxiety. Don't be anxious
for tomorrow. Walk the narrow, difficult path, realizing that you
have a good shepherd. A good shepherd guides his flock.
We have such a good shepherd. He laid down his

(12:23):
life for his flock. With that, thanks for listening, and
have a blessed day.
