Speaker 1 (00:10):
Hello everyone, and welcome back to another exciting edition of
Amazing Women and Men of Power, Legends and icon Yesterday, today,
and tomorrow. I'm your host raven a talk show MABN
and today we're diving into one of the wildest, most
hilarious social experiments on TV where reality isn't quite what
(00:31):
it seems. Imagine stepping into a competition believing you are
going for a hundred thousand grand prize, only to find
out later everyone around you is an actor, the challenge
or outraging and the whole thing is an elaborate hoaxt.
That's exactly what happened to our guest today. He's the
star of the reimagine hit the Joe Schmoe Show on TBS,
(00:54):
a show that has audiences laughing, gasping, and just wanting more.
So if you're stand and sit down, and if you
sit and stand up, because we have our amazing guests,
you're gonna love him. I can't wait to get to
know him. And so without further ado, let's give Vincent's.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Oh and yay Ben for Zone.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Welcome to the show. You amazing man, empower you.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
How you doing, I'm feeling good? How are you and
thank you for having me.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
You're welcome. You're welcome. So, first of all, you're officially
Reality tv most beloved prank victim. How does that feel?
Speaker 2 (01:39):
That feels amazing? That's got a good bring.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
It does, doesn't it? So what made you want to
say yes to this? This is me? It feels good.
I want to do this.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Yeah. I mean, you know, I'm a goofy guy and
I figured, you know, i'd be a good reality personality.
So that's that's basically what made me say, you know,
let's go for it.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Mm hmm. You just seem like right fit for you, right, yeah?
So what can you tell us about what we can expect?
I mean from absurd challenges to dramatic twists. You know,
what can you tell us about this that's going to
make us just say yes, we want to see this,
We want to see it.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
It's absurd challenges, you know, crazy twists like you said,
and crazy characters, backstories, you know, wholesome pranks and always
with you know, judge no right on their heels or
depending how you look at them, right on my heels.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Yeah. Yeah. What the entire production, actors, crews, hosts had
to work over time understand to keep you in the
dark looking back, Are there moments, I mean moments bands
where you can now spot the little clue that something
is off?
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Yeah, so you know, looking back, you know, hindsight is
twenty twenty, as they say, But there were things that
were going on there on the show that I knew
then something was a little funky with like the token.
You know, I could never find a token, no matter
how hard I tried. And I even said when I
(03:25):
was on the show Man, They're gonna make a little
bit and play music about it. To me looking for
these tokens, I knew someone, right, you could feel that, right, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Your reactions throughout the show were what really understand? One
people over, you know, and that's always a good thing,
right You want to win people over for sure. When
you were doing this, did you feel like, Okay, I've
got to keep people excited. I can't just go through
(04:00):
the flow. I've got to figure this out and you know,
find these clues and keep the audience on the edge.
Did I ever come to your mind as well?
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yeah, I mean, you know, the whole time I'm on
the show, you know, just like I imagine most people on
those competition shows you're really trying your best to be
your best competitor. And you know so I was, you know,
always looking for a token, always trying to think of
you know, strategy, and you know, trying to get a
(04:34):
one up on the competition.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
I love the way you said that, right, because that
is what you're trying to do, right. You got to
keep that and grab that one up when you handle
the unexpected chaos with with kindness and humor. Where do
you think that natural positivity that you have comes from?
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Probably my family, you know, just how they are, how
they raised me. You know, my mom and dad. They're
always you know, upbeat, you know, in a good mood,
out to help people. So uh, probably from them. Yeah,
my family, my upraising.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Oh that's good. I always love when people give credit
to their family. For sure. Did you ever think you'd
be doing anything like this? No, one of those surprises
in life?
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Right, Yes, this is the craziest thing to ever happen
to this, Joshmo.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
For sure? Are you looking forward to doing more things
like this?
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Oh? Yeah, for sure. You know I say all the time,
I want to go as far as you know the
jo Shmo will take me. If I get to you know,
stay on with like TVs as like you know, the
shmow and do other stuff that'd be amazing, you know,
just to continue the journey.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
I think you're going to get it. I think you're
gonna get it. Then, you know, when you're in natural,
it's so easy for people to just want to give
you an opportunity, you know, because it's not a lot
of hard work for them. You know, they know, okay,
this this person isn't natural. They're gonna they're gonna land it,
which you did. We look forward to seeing you more. Okay.
(06:21):
Been with the Joe Schmost Show being a modern take
on two thousand and three original, what's it been like
seeing the audience embrace this version and your role at
the center of it all.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
You know, I'd say largely heartwarming, and it's rewarding everybody
that says, you know, they love the show or you
know they love watching me on the show or my
reactions you know, so you know, the support has been
five far more support than other weird comments. So it's
(06:56):
been great.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Yeah, yeah, Okay, now the secrets out, you've been in
the spotlight. Then what's next for you? What are you
looking for? What are some things that you aspire to do.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Gosh, uh, you know, I always like to just grow
as a person, right, I want to learn more constantly.
Now I'm kind of I have an older I have
an older truck now it's a it's a historic truck.
And I've been working on that and like learning new
things about mechanical work. Okay. And yeah, and I rebuilt
(07:35):
my motorcycle engine. So I've been I've been doing a
lot of engine work actually. And then me and my dad,
you know, we got we got our boat fired up.
So we're gonna get ready to do fishing, you know,
with the weather getting better.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Now, Oh and where do you live? What state do
you live in.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
I'm from right outside of Baltimore in Maryland.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Okay, good fishing.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
So we fished a day a lot.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
That's awesome. It's always good to do something that that
you love, you know, other than your work. I think
what it does is kind of re energizes you, doesn't it.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Yeah, you know, it's you know, it's a it's a
personal passion. M h.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
I'm just curious for those people that are tuning in
right now, what would you suggest to them if they
wanted to, you know, get kick off and you know,
some type of acting or or be part of a
reality show, especially one like yours. Any tips with strategies
you can.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Share, Yeah, I mean, I guess I'd just say, if
you want to do it, you just got to go
for it. You know. There's really never a perfect right
time for anything, you know, so if you want to
do it, you got to go for it and just
go for it. Just do it. And if you if
(08:50):
you don't know how to do it, you can fake
it until you start making it. And that's kind of
what I've been doing actually with the engines. Like I'm
not a mechanic, but I've been tearing them down, building
back up and now I'm starting to learn a little
bit so to jump just jump on in.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Yeah, is this the mechanic thing? I feel a passion
behind that, not just an interest, but a passion. Is
that something that you that you want to always continue doing?
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Yeah, you know, I it just falls right in line
with like fixing stuff, Like I just like I'm a
fixer guy. I like to fix things, you know, I
like to learn more about how things work and all
that all that stuff. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Yeah, you are very very very motivating, very inspiring for
for sure, and what you were just talking about just
you know, go for your dreams and fake it till
you make it. That sounds like that may have been
a lesson that you also learned from your dad, was it.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Yeah, My dad is honestly the greatest guy I've ever met.
He'll probably listen to this. H him and my mom,
they're super supportive. I have the best parent you know,
you could you could ask for, really, so I got
really lucky in that department. And you know, my brother
is you know, just a super loving, wholesome kid.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
So that's awesome. Hey, you know what, I'm glad you
shared that because the world needs to hear things like that.
You know, we need to get back close with our families,
right especially during these times. Yes, it's very important time.
What else could you share that maybe we haven't talked
about yet, that you feel is important for the audience
(10:33):
to know about the Joe Schmoe.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Show, Yeah, I guess i'd have to say. You know,
you guys got to see a lot of it. You
guys got to see the you know, the show for
the most part, and but there's always, you know, there's
stuff that happens there's so much stuff that happens in
those ten days, you know, with individual characters and their
(10:58):
backstories and conversations that didn't make the air, you know,
So the characters are even crazier than you know. I
think some people see them as you know what I mean,
like because I was constantly talking to them, you know,
they were in character the whole time, and yeah, yeah,
(11:21):
it was nuts. There's a little bit of the madness
to the characters that I think will get left out
for some of the viewers.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Wow, it's going to be I can't wait to see it.
I have any chance to see it, so I can't
wait to see it. And I want to say to
the listeners being that reality TV does meet the ultimate
hoax in the Joe Schmost Show on TBS, one contestant
at a time and the entire cast of actors in
a game show that's totally fake. But he has no
(11:51):
idea When I say, hey, I mean Ben, don't miss
the Laugh Out Loud season finale, premiering next Tuesday, March
twenty fifth, at nine Eastern Yes on TBS. Been you know,
I don't know. I've got the feeling that there's so
much waiting for you.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Is there any.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Any TV show, any actor that you said, oh, I
want to cast for that curious?
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Yeah, I don't know. That's a frequently asked question. And
I have been watching more reality shows now that I've
been on The Joe Schmore Show. But you know, so
we still got the season finale and there's still a
couple of twists and turns left in there for everybody,
believe it or not. I'd like to gosh, if they
(12:46):
did the season two of The Smow Show, I would
really like to be involved in some weird, funny way.
But I don't. Yeah, I'd love to be on other
you know, other reality shows, you know, Deal or New Deal.
I am hot, Traders is hot, you know a lot
of them.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
See, Yeah, yeah, that'd be a good one.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
I don't know, I'd be I'd be pressing if they
made me a Trader though, that would be no good.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Oh my goodness. What about any big movie roles? Do
you first see yourself diving into any of that soon
or you want to stick to the reality side, you.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Know, I don't know. I would do all of it.
I would love to make some cameos essentially, if something
was filmed like in Baltimore, like in and around Maryland
like that'd be you know, that'd be cool to like
do a cameo for that.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Yeah, but oh my god, oh my goodness. Well, Ben,
this has been such a blash. Your journey on the
Joe Schmos Show has definitely been nothing short of legendary,
and it's been incredible. You know, people are loving you.
People are loving you being that's for sure, and they
want more and I think it's gonna happen. So I
(14:02):
would to encourage the audience again to watch The Joe
Schmoe Show this coming Tuesday, March twenty fifth, on TBS.
You won't believe how it all ends.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
You know.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
I think I'm gonna binge watch the whole thing. I
don't know, I don't like watching the end. I gotta
watch the whole thing. I want to see you go
through everything, you know. Yeah, Ben, it has been such
a pleasure to talk to you, and I just want
to give you an opportunity to let people know where
they can follow you, how they can get more of you,
(14:35):
because I got a feeling they're gonna want to. Ben.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Yeah, you can. You can find me on Instagram. It's
you can find me at my name Ben Perzone. You
could also find me through TBS's Instagram page at TBS Network.
I'm tagging all their videos and through their page so
you can find me for them. You know, we're also
you know, we got a huge we got some huge
(14:59):
surprises at Still coming Tuesday in the season finale. Good uh,
everybody tune in. You know it'll be great. It'll be great, all.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Right, Benfitz, thank you very much. Everyone check it out.
Thank you, Ben. You are awesome.
