Speaker 1 (00:20):
Look back to American Doc Radio. This is Mike Phillip.
We're gonna talk about tithing today. Not a popular topic
in some circles, and an overly popular topic in some circles.
I've taught on tithing many times, many many times. But
today God gave me something very different to bring you today.
(00:47):
There are people you give money to and there are
people that you don't. There are times when you accept
money from certain sources, and there are times when you
do not accept money from certain sources. And I've got
Old Testament and New to back this up. Okay, tithing
(01:10):
is something that you're going to find throughout your Bible.
Now there's also people out there that are unscrupulous shisters
who are just looking to fleece you. Now that's in
the world as well, okay, and the Bible does talk
about this. Now. It's really funny because there was this
(01:35):
band called Suicidal Tendencies. I used to like, I'll give
you two examples. They had the song called send Me
or Monday, and it was all about televangelists who would
get rich off of people, which was definitely a scourge
still is. But at the same time, I just got
(02:00):
to point out that suicidal tendencies was not throwing free
concerts and giving away free T shirts either. Okay, they
wanted their cut so they could point the finger at
somebody else. All they wanted, but they they got. They're
still probably getting royalty checks to this day. Metallica had
(02:24):
a song called Leper Messiah, and you know, the chorus goes,
send me money, send me green Heaven and you will reap.
Make contribution and you'll get a better seat. Bow to
Leper Messiah, Raise Lord. Well, Metallica is one of the
richest bands out there right now. They got theirs, you know,
(02:47):
so you hypocrites in the world. You can talk about
how much hypocrisy there is in the church world, but
you better look in the mirror because they get T
shirt sales, royalties and they expect that. In fact, Lars
Ulrich was suing people for downloading their music when they
didn't get any money. You need money, I need money.
(03:13):
I have bills to pay. Speaking with a bishop with
forty years experience pastoring, and he flat out told me
only twenty percent of the church usually tithes no matter
where you go, about twenty percent, he said, that's just
something I've learned now The other thing I've learned is
(03:37):
that there will be tithers that will do it not
out of their goodness of their heart, but out of
a sense of obligation. God does not want this. God
does not want you to feel obligated or grudging about
your giving. God wants a cheerful giver. The Bible says
(03:57):
that God loves a cheerful giver. Now think about the
antithesis of that statement. There were people in the Bible
that were giving out of their abundance and God didn't
respect it. God I heard it preach for one time,
and I never forgot. God doesn't need your money, you
(04:19):
need his blessing. And that prompted me to start tithing.
And I did not have the money to pay my
bills that month, but God blessed it. I spoke with
Mike Bloom a little bit on this subject, and he said, yeah,
wholeheartedly endorsed tithing. And he gave me some scripture and
(04:42):
a little bit more perspective, and I told him that
in my experience, in my experience, people that faithfully give
in the church are usually more state of a Christian
(05:03):
and there they have a maturity. Not always, but usually
the other thing too, is that there are people that
will want to come for a free meal and not
pay for it. I have a lot of those. That's okay,
that's okay. I don't require you to pay me to
feed you the eternal things. I do have a small core,
(05:28):
a very small core of regular Tithers, and I've noticed
maturity in them. Okay, We're going to talk about this
and more today. The other thing I want to say
is that Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. I've
(05:49):
had people in the church that there was a time
in their life where they had to pay out the
nose for cocaine every single day. They somehow found three
hundred bucks a day to pay for blow. They'd paid
for hookers, they would they would shell out for rock concerts,
they would I have a friend that was in a
(06:09):
bike gang. They had church, and you had to pay
dues to be in the gang. If you miss church,
they would find you. If you left the bike club,
they would take your motorcycle, find you thirty grand and
you have to take a beating. Don't tell me that
(06:31):
ten percent to the work of the Lord is a burden.
It's a light burden. When Israel wanted a King God said, okay,
but he's gonna want twenty percent, and you still got
to pay your tithe He's got and so I and
I live in Canada. It's one of the most taxed
(06:53):
countries in the world, hands down. Like Canada is just
really okay, very expensive to live in Western Canon. I
live in Alberta, which is more of a republican conservative province.
Were kind of known as the Texas of Canada, and
(07:15):
Alberta is considering leaving Canada right now for many very
good reasons. But I want to talk about tithing now.
Like I said earlier, there are inappropriate times to take money.
There are inappropriate times to give money. Did you know
there are certain churches that Paul would not take money from.
(07:38):
He would take money from other churches. There's a cat
clawing up in the back of my chair right now.
I bet he's gonna climb up here. You'll probably see him.
There was churches that were so colonel and immature that
Paul would take money from other churches just to come
and evangelize to them. He loved them, he wrote long letters.
(08:08):
He never stopped dealing with them, but he wouldn't take
a dollar from them because they were too carnal, they
were too worldly. It would put it would be a
stumbling block. Paul would take collections from them because there
(08:30):
was a famine going on, to take back aid to
the believers in Jerusalem. He would do that, but he
wouldn't personally take any money from them. Now we find
the same thing with Abraham. We find the exact same
thing with Abraham. You don't want to take money from
somebody that's appointed to destruction. And I'm going to show
(08:51):
you that Jesus said, give and it shall be given
to you. Since I have purposed in my heart to
tithe and give offerings, we're appropriate at the behest of
the leading of the spirit. I have never gone without
the blessings of the God, include that you will lend
(09:16):
and not borrow. I have not had to borrow money
from anybody in six years, nobody. I've lent lots, I've
given lots away I have had. I have not phone
nobody hat in hand to ask for a mulligan or
a freebie. Let's say a quick prayer and then we'll
(09:37):
get into the word of God. Tithing is for mature
and stable people, Okay, and I just I'll give you
a scenario. If there's a widow that doesn't have enough
and comes to me, I'll tell her don't worry about it.
We should be helping you. You understand. Let's say a
(10:04):
quick prayer, Madeline. I saw your text before I went
live today. Thank you. I love you, sister. You are
beautiful in the eyes of God. We love our widows.
Lord Jesus, Almighty God. I pray Lord that your word
would go forth with power and anointing. And I pray
(10:26):
that understanding would enter into the hearts and minds of men,
and that they would meditate on the things of You
and your word. And I pray Lord that they be
doers of the word and not hearers only. And Jesus' name, Amen,
Praise the Lord. Yeah, you think Paul was going to
(10:46):
the church in Jerusalem and demanding ten percent when they
were in a famine. Throw me to Genesis chapter teen.
Remember that the children of Israel, when they came out
of Egypt. God caused the Egyptians to give them gold
(11:10):
and silver. They came out rich, but they went into
the wilderness of sin. They had all this gold and silver,
and they had to drink water from the rock. They
had to gather manna every morning. Amen. They so they
(11:32):
had possession, but they were going to be moved into
a place where they were going to be given everything.
I was talking to Mike Bloom and the years ago
there was a man that he taught on tithing, and
this guy just got in his heart in the church
and started tithing. He's a millionaire today and he attributes
it to tithing. Okay, I am kept in a place
(12:00):
where money does not stay here. Okay, I'm just gonna
be frank with you. It flows through. Money flows through here.
I always have what I need, and if I have
an extra expense, go I will give me that too,
and I make sure that he has what is his. Okay,
I'm not getting wealthy off of this, but those of
(12:22):
you that do tithe and those of you that do
give offerings, what you're paying for is to give me
the ability to spend hours on the phone with people
that don't spending hours on the phone with people. But
we've also had people that they only come here every
time they're in trouble. Then they're gone and the church
(12:47):
will bail them out. And man that called said Mike,
I've got three million dollars in bitcoin. Oh, Mike, you're
never gonna have to work again. You mom will buy
you a building. Well, that same man, he went yapping
about it at a party one night to the wrong
(13:09):
people and they told him, okay, give us your US
speed drive. We're going to kill you. So then he's
calling me, Oh, I need help, Pastor, I need help.
I said, don't worry about it. I had to get
(13:33):
back to Alberta here from Ontario, had no money, So
don't worry about it. We're gonna pray and God can
get you out of this. We prayed. God totally bailed
him out. It was miracle. Came for one service. You
never heard from him again. I know that's not true.
(13:56):
About six months later he called me and Mike, Mike,
you've got to help me. I'm homeless. I'm sleeping outside.
Can I come and stay at your place just for
one night? And I was like, no, sorry, no, you can't.
(14:16):
I know if that sounds cold to you, but I
was connected to the vine that day. No, you need
to spend a little more time on the street because
you're not faithful, you're not stable, and you only come
around when you need something. Bishop Darrell Green again, Pastor
(14:40):
in forty years said there was a woman in the
church and she would say, I'm going to win the lottery,
and when I do past her, this church is never
gonna have want of anything again. Guess what she worren
forty million dollars and God God. Pastoring is an interesting job.
(15:06):
So Genesis thirteen, he's Lord. Yeah, Peyton, that's a good attitude. Yeah,
just don't think about it. Don't think about it. If
you're connected to the vine, you're not gonna be worried
about money. You just won't worre you stress. Stress is
(15:28):
the opposite peace. Tilers have peace when it comes to
their finances. Genesis thirteen one, and Abraham went up out
of Egypty and his wife and all that he had,
and a lot with him in to the south. Abraham
was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
(15:48):
Now Abraham had just gone into Egypt and told the
Pharaoh that his wife Sarah was his sister. Pharaoh took
curR In as his wife, and God plagued them, and
so Abraham was no liar. She was his half sister. Okay,
(16:12):
we read in Genesis twenty Abraham was his Sarah was
his half sister. Abraham was not a liar, he was afraid,
which I guess could be a mark against him. God
still blessed them. Came out of Egypt with silver and
gold lot's cattle. But then in the very next chapter,
(16:38):
a bunch of kings ganged up on Sodom, where his
nephew lived. And Abraham took a band of men and
slaughtered those kings and set the sodo Mites free, let
them go home. And there was a great spoil. Now
this milk deck if you go to verse seventeen of
(17:02):
chapter fourteen of Genesis. And now this gets into when
you give or when you take, and who you don't
take money from. There are times when you do not
take the money. King Sodom went out to meet him
after returned from the slaughter at cheddar Laomer, and of
(17:22):
the kings that were with him in the valley of Shabba,
which is at the king's dale of Melchizedek, King of Salem,
came forth, brought forth bread and mine, and he was
the priest of the Most High God. He blessed him
and said, blessed be Abram of the Most High God,
possessor of having an earth, and blessed he blessed be
(17:42):
the Most High God, which had to deliver dyne enemies
into thine hand, and he gave him tithes of Awe
gave him tithes. Tithes just means tenth tenth of what
he had. Remember, he was rich coming out of Egypt.
Abraham is a very wealthy. Then we don't see Abraham
(18:03):
every even owning house. Abraham was rich. He could have
gone in Sodom and had himself the time. But Abraham
was also willing to give the Son of Promise of
his old age if God required it. Luckily, God doesn't
(18:25):
send other people to spill their blood or do his
dirty work. But listening to this, right after this, he's
offered the spoils of that battle. Remember he just saved Sodom,
just saved the king of Sodom. Verse twenty one. The
(18:50):
King of Sodom said, unto Abram, give me the persons,
and take the goods to yourself, to all yours. Abraham,
you earned it. Abraham said to the King of Sodom,
I have lift up my hand unto the Lord, the
Most ti God, the possessor of heaven and Earth, that
I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet,
(19:15):
and that I will not take anything that is yours,
lest thou should say I have made Abraham rich, save
only that which the young men have eaten. In the
portion of the men that went with me and Eska
a memory, let them take their portion. Solom was slated
(19:35):
for destruction. And there are people out there that you
don't give to because it's not free, or you don't
take from because there are strings attached. Abraham knew what
the Sodomites were like. His nephew lived there. Okay, my
(20:00):
friend Joe was with a friend of his near a
certain Indian reserve and they stopped to help some change
a flat. This year's go. One of them offered him
a beer. His friend looked at him and said, don't
take it. He said, why not, guys just being nice.
He just wants me to give me a beer. He said,
(20:24):
you'll owe them something. This is how they operate. That's
not free. There's a string attached, kind of like a
pimp talking to you, young girl. Would you like a
fur coat? Would you like a gold ring? Maybe a
ride in my Bugadhi? And she's thinking she's living the
(20:50):
Disney princess lifestyle. And old prince Charmy just come along. No,
he's going to get it out of her. Oh yeah,
he's going to get it out of her. It's an investment.
Abraham would not take money from the king of sodermn
mm hmm. Now this is a precedent all the way
(21:10):
through the word of God. This is a precedent all
the way through the Word of God. I'm gonna give
you new testament for this too. Raise the Lord. There
are people out there you do not take things from.
In Genesis twenty, remember Jesus said, given, it shall be
(21:31):
given unto you. We have the same situation where Abraham
goes in into Uh. He goes to the south country.
He's dwelling between Cadess and Sure and so Derned and Garar.
And he told his wife, tell tell the a Bemlek
(21:53):
king that you're my sister. And God plagued their house.
God came to a Bimelec in a dream and said,
you're a dead man. That that woman she's married to
a prophet. You're a dead man. And ben male like
said I didn't touch her. I'm innocent. God said you
(22:17):
didn't touch her because I didn't let you touch her.
You don't come to me talking about how righteous you are.
And so in verse fourteen, be Malead said to him,
why did you do this to me? Why did you
(22:39):
do that? Abram said, well, there's no fear of the
Lord here. I thought you'd kill me to take my wife,
and she is technically my half sister. He explained it
to a bimelec non of verse fourteen, look at this,
and a Bimelec took sheep and oxen and men's servants
and women's servants and gave them to Abraham and restored
(23:01):
him Sarah his wife. He made him rich again. He's
already wealthy. Amen. Abraham took that see said was going
to be destroyed and you and you find this many
times in the Old Testament. So hang on to that
(23:23):
principle for later on. Okay, because there are people that
don't know when to appropriately take a gift or turn
it down. There are people like that where you work.
There are people like that in your family. Possibly, there
are people if you if they do something for you,
it's not out of love, it's grudging, and they're keeping track,
(23:46):
they're keeping a list. I had a guy come church
here long time ago. He uh, never did give anything.
We gave him food, we prayed with him, we talked
them through hard times, turned on me, stabbed, being back,
left in huff. But he did give me a Canadian
silver dollar once out of about a year. And then
(24:11):
he texted me, said, what about that doll I gave you.
I said, well, if it's an issue, then you didn't
give it to me. And you furthermore, you didn't give
it to me. I thought you loved the church. I
thought you were giving out of the goodness of your
heart because Jesus said to give this guy just tuck
(24:32):
and tuk tuk, Praise God. Now, Paul would collect money
from the Corinthian Church to bring aid to the disciples
in Jerusalem because there was a famine in Judea at
(24:54):
the time. He told them, way up every week so
that when I get there, you're not scrambling around, and
I will take it with me to give to the
residents of Judaea that are starving. But he would not
personally take offerings from the Corinthian Church. And I never
(25:20):
noticed this before. This just came to me while I
was praying and studying this morning. He loved them. He
spent lots of time praying for them. He wrote more
to them than I mean. You find things in those
letters to the Corinthians that he didn't bother pointing out
(25:41):
to the Ephesians him bother getting into with the Colossians.
Do you know why? Because the Corinthian church was divided
and colonel and immature. I'm not taking no offerings from you.
(26:03):
It'll be a stumbling block. You're not in it. You're
not ready to be blessed in that way, you understand.
Praise God. I got an amen from mattal and she's tracking.
Turn me in First Corinthians nine, and I'm gonna show you.
(26:24):
Paul firmly believe that a preacher should live off of
the work of the Gospel. He taught that the Law
taught a precedent in it. He even told them that,
and then turned around and said, I I'll work while
(26:44):
I'm here. He said, I robbed other churches just to
be able to come to you, so that you couldn't
say that I was getting rid of you. And they
turned around and said, and there are false apostles coming
around wanting your money, and you're giving it to them.
Ye see, it would have been inappropriate to take from
that church in the in the in the the shape
(27:06):
that was.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
In Hello, Firse Corinthians nine. He's he's talking about you.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Remember in eight he was talking about meat offered to idols. Right,
so if it if meat makes my brother offend, I'll
eat no flesh while the world stands lest I make
my brother to offend. And it was all about bearing
somebody else's burden with Paul. But then he starts to
defend his apostleship. He says, am I not an apostle?
(27:41):
Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ,
our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?
Some of you listening right now, you are my work
in the Lord, he says. If I be not an apostle,
and others yet doubtless I am to you who listen
what he says here for the seal of my apostleship.
(28:05):
Are you in the Lord? Madeline? You are the seal
of my apostleship that I was sent into your home
to tell you the more perfect way. Bo you are
my seal of apostleship. Peyton, Matthew, Chat Peter. And he says,
(28:34):
my answer to them that do examine me, is this okay?
You're examining my if you're questioning my cred within the church,
Have we not powered to eat and to drink? Have
we not powered to lead about a sister and a wife,
as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of
(28:55):
the Lord and Cephist that's Peter or I only and Barnabas,
have we not powered to forbear working what he's saying?
We have the power to just do ministry. We have,
(29:19):
he says, who goeth the warfare at any time, at
his own charge, out of his own pocket? Who planteth
a vineyard and eaten not of the fruit thereup? Who
feeds the flock and eats not of the milk of
the flock? Do I say these things as a man
(29:40):
or saith? Not the law the same? Also? So I'm
going to show you in the law where there's this precedent.
For it is written in the Law of Moses, thou
shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth
out the corn, that God take care for Oxen? Was
it about Oxen? Or say, if he had all together
(30:02):
for our sake?
Speaker 3 (30:05):
For our sakes, no doubt this is written that he
that plowe should plow in hope, and that he that
thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
And you plow to get a yield. You raise the cattle,
to get the money, raise God, or to eat the
meat or drink the milk. We all have a friend
Nick down Michigan. He's got cattle. I think Nick should
(30:41):
be able to eat a steak once in a while
after feeding and looking after cattle all day. Should he
get paid? Does he have expenses? Yeah? I get a
kick out of these people that think that business owners
are just rich peopleeople that hate them and they are greedy.
(31:03):
It's ridiculous. I was a business owner and there was
months where I didn't get paid, so that my all
the payroll went out to everybody else. I watched my
brother and sister do the same thing. He said, if
we've sown onto you spiritual things, is it a great thing?
(31:25):
If we shall reap your kernel things, is your money
so great that it's better than eternal things that we've
given you. He's saying this to a New Testament church people, says,
if others be partakers of this power over you are
(31:47):
not we Rather, you'll pay other visiting preachers Nevertheless, Paul says,
we have not used power, but suffer all things lest
we should hinder the Gospel of Christ. They couldn't handle it,
(32:13):
and Paul put their needs above his own, and so
he got a job. Because they were the most immature
carnal congregation. That was the whole reason for the letter.
Right off the back, he says, I hear there's division
among you. Were you baptized in the name of Paul
(32:37):
Christ divided? And where there's division, there's every other wicked thing.
He said, there's people in that church that there was
one guy sleeping with his stepmother. There was there. He said,
you've committed uncleanness, but there was homosexuality, there was, And
(32:58):
it all started with a vision over doctrine and source.
Every wicked thing will be where there's division. That's the
reason for the letter. And he's like, I can't take
an offering from you for myself, He said, I robbed
(33:20):
other churches just to come to you. I would take
their offering. Why, because they're more mature than you are.
Do you not know that they which minister about holy
things live of the things in the temple, and they
which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar.
(33:41):
Even so had the Lord ordained that they which preached
the gospel should live of the gospel. But I've used
none of these things. Neither have I written these things
that it should so be done unto me, For it
were better for me to die than that any man
should make me my glorying boy. Now let's move on,
(34:02):
he said the exactly so. Then he writes he's writing
to a preacher who is pastoring at the Ephesian church
in emphasis right, the Book of Ephesians, that Epistol one
Timothy five, One Timothy, chapter five, he's writing to a
young pastor. And in one Timothy five, verses sixteen and seventeen, sorry,
(34:32):
seventeen and eighteen. Yeah, I was looking at the wrong
I was looking at Daniel in my notes, says yeah,
One Timothy five, seventeen eighteen. Let the elders that rule
well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who
labor in the word and doctrine. That is what I do.
(34:55):
I labor in the word and doctrine, and I passed people.
Pastoring is just shepherding, leading them the right way. I've
got to be connected to the vine. I have to
pray in the morning. I don't know what's going to
be on the other end of the phone when I
(35:16):
picked it up. I recently had a phone call. I
took it, and the first thing that was told to
me was, I had two choices to call you or
nine to one one because I was about to kill myself.
You better be full of the Holy Ghost for that.
Call those of you who think you're a pastor or
(35:38):
one to be one one day. Read that again. Let
the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor,
especially they that labor in the word and doctrine. For
the Scripture saith, thou shalt not muzzle the ox that
treadeth out the corn, and the laborer is worthy of
(35:59):
his reward. It's telling Timothy the ones that are full
time for the work of the church need to be paid,
and the church needs to be ready to give too. Amen.
We don't spend a lot of money on bells and
(36:20):
muscles around here. I don't have it. You know, if
everybody listen to the show and put ten bucks in
at the website like once a month, I wouldn't know
what to do with it all. Maybe I don't know
(36:41):
spend on advertising or something. And you know what, we
have a lot of people that don't, and you know what, don't.
I'll still be here for you. I'll still put out
my email address. You can contact me, and I'll do
whatever it takes to help you navigate out of the
(37:02):
situation you're in. As I'm led by the spirit of
Jesus of Nazareth, and there ain't no such thing as
a problem to him. See, that's the other aspect, is
that I can't do it for the money. You understand
(37:22):
the people out there, and the early Church was dealing
with this. Turn to Second Peter. Turn Second Peter in
your Bible. Second Peter, chapter two, verses one through four. Okay,
you want to see where the Bible talks about unscrupulous
(37:44):
money grubbing televangelists or a merry church preachers that are
just all about the wealth. Well, guess what the early
Church was dealing with that too. There were men coming
into the church teaching other doctrines while the apostles were
still alive, Peter writes, take Peter two one, two, four.
(38:13):
But there were false prophets also among the people. Let's
talk about the Old Testament, even as there shall be
false teachers among you who privilege shall bring in damnable heresies,
even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon
themselves swift destruction. Many shall follow their pernicious ways by
(38:34):
reason of whom listen this, by reason of whom the
way of truth shall be evil spoken of. So here's
a picture. I tell somebody I'm a pastor. They say,
pastor from a pastor? What I'm Christian? I teach about
(38:56):
Jesus And they say, do you know how many people
the Catholic Church is murdered? Not Catholic totally different doctrine
or no, you just want money? Why? Because there's so
(39:22):
many to do? And that's what I deal with sometimes?
Can you find that? Tell people you're Pentecostal or an Apostolic?
So why they do they lump you in with denominal
trinitarian paoc Pentecostals. Nothing could be further by reason of
(39:48):
whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of?
Why through covetousness for what money, women whatever, shall they
be with feigned words make merchandise of you, whose judgment
now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation
slumbereth not. For if God spared not the angels that sinned,
(40:11):
but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into
chains of darkness to be reserved unto judgment. And spared
not the old world, but save Noah, the eighth person,
the preacher of righteousness, bringing the flood upon the world
of the ungodly, and turning the cities of Solomon Gomoor
into ashes, condemned them and with an overthrow, making them
an ensample onto those that after should live ungodly. And
(40:34):
he goes on about that. He says, Lord knows in
verse nine how to deliver the godly out of temptation,
and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment
to be punished. But chiefly them that walk after the
flesh and the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. They
(40:55):
despise church authority. They don't like pastoral authority. They'll go church, church, church, church,
and at everyone. They will find something wrong with it,
and they'll call you pastor. Bet you ain't their pastor,
And inevitably they will find a fault in you and
(41:17):
walk out in a huff, but not before they kick
something over and try to wrack your work. That's okay, God,
knows who they are. Told your pastorings an interesting job.
There's times when you don't take the money. Okay, Turn
(41:39):
me to Daniel Chapter five. Daniel, Chapter five. We're gonna
go Old Testament and New Testament on this. Praise God.
Everybody enjoying this word. It's all quiet over in the chat.
Are you tracking? Are you? Are you? Are you step
(41:59):
Are you? Are you smelling when I'm stepping in? Are
you smoking when I'm growing? Pastor Mike Uh Daniel chapter five,
King Bels's art. He Uh flagrantly made a mockery of
(42:26):
the things God. Okay, the previous king had made it
illegal to say anything about Daniel and his God. He said,
if anybody speaks negatively about Daniel or his God, his
his him and his family be killed in his house
will be made into a pile of crap. A dunghill,
(42:47):
it says so. Next King, young Punk looking after the kingdom,
second in command under the real King, who was in
the inter house at winter City through a party and
defiled the vessels from the House of God. Hand came
(43:08):
and rode on the wall in the plaster many a
tech galu farson waiting bounce and found wanting God has
number your kingdom. You are finished. See when the king
saw that, nobody could interpret it, nobody knew what it meant.
(43:35):
So King in chapter sixteen or sorry, chapter five, verse
sixteen says, I have heard that thee that thou can'st
make interpretations and dissolved doubts. Now if thou canst read
the writing and make known to me the interpretation thereof,
thou shalt be clothed with scarlet and have a chain
of gold about thy neck, and shall be the third
(43:58):
ruler in the kingdom. Wow tainted gold. Third ruler. Daniel
said before the king. Yeah, I'll let your gifts speak
to yourself. You're not going to have any of that.
(44:21):
Come morning, I'll read writing to the king and make
known the interpretation. You know what Daniel always said to
his predecessors in Babylon or in Uh yeah, in Babylon,
Oh king lived forever, Oh King lived forever. He did
(44:41):
it to Darius when he was in the lions. Then
not this time, Yeah, you keep your gifts. Well they
did give it to him anyway, and you can read that. Uh.
After he interpreted the thing and it said your kingdom
is You're done. See what belshes are. He couldn't believe that.
(45:04):
He couldn't know. No, this is We're a world empire.
Will always be tap dog. My grandpa built this and
then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel scarlet and put
a chain of gold about his neck and made a
proclamation concerning him that he should be the third ruler
of the kingdom. And that night was Belshazzar, the king
(45:30):
of the Chaldeans slain. God wasn't his God put the
gold in the ground. God created gold. He can lift
you up or put you down. I'm convinced that there
are some people that are kept down due to their
(45:52):
own immaturity level. I'm convinced that there are people that
cannot handle having a lot and still go to heaven
and God keeps them right where they're supposed to be.
Maybe that's the case with me. Huh donell. Maybe he'll
give me a promotion someday. Who knows, But you know what,
(46:13):
I'm not praying for it. Uh ah, Lord, Please give
me this day, this day, what I need. Praise God.
I had to pay my rent yesterday. Today's second I
had to pay my rent, didn't have it. I was
(46:34):
like four hundred bucks short, five hundred and fifty bucks
came in. See, I don't think about it. That's what
tithing has done for me. And it's not even about
the money. It's about the promises. It's about whether I
have faith in God's word or not. And I am
(46:55):
responsible for what I know and where I'm at. Okay,
there's more required of me than there is of you
when it comes to uh, I teach Bible. I am
expected to behave a certain way. You understand that I
(47:17):
wouldn't expect of, say, young Dexter, Praise Lord. Although new
Christians are dynamite, you know who wins souls. New Christians
they're not afraid to talk about Jesus anywhere they are.
Event And your brother Derek, he just brought a young
(47:39):
man in church from work, got baptized Jesus name filled
with the Holy Ghost. Derek. When I when my phone
makes a little signal that I got a message, and
I look down at it and says, well, God, it's Derek,
and I know he wants to talk and I know, oh,
(48:00):
he's got a good report. Derek Nicholson in Lantin, Georgia
always has a good report. Cheerful givers always have a
good report. I've also noticed, see it's the ones that
aren't committed. I love the Lord that God, but all
(48:21):
my heart, all my soul and all my might. And
God's done so much for me. But you bye bye.
But but no, I'm not I'm not tithing. I'm not giving.
(48:43):
He's the Lord. H It's it's Peyton says, a tremendous
responsibility on pastor Mike. It is. It is a big responsibility.
But you know what, the burden is easy and the
yoke is light because I love what I do and
I I love you guys. Praise Lord. You guys have
grown so much. And then Second King's Chapter five, Second
(49:05):
Kings Chapter five, see King Belshazzar was going to be
dead before morning, but he figured he was going to
be promoting Daniel and and and God even told him
you're done your your your kingdom is numbered. And that
number just came up now in First King, Sorry, Second Kings,
(49:32):
Second Kings. Second King's Chapter five. Naman is Assyrian captain.
He hears from a Hebrew slave girl that there's a
prophet in Israel. Naman is a big, strapping man. He's
Valiantine warfare. He's he's a tough boy, he's a warrior,
(49:55):
but he's got leprosy. This little slave girl tells him
there's a prophet in Israel with power. Go to him.
So he writes a letter to the king and Israel.
The king thinks he's trying to pick a fight. The
king goes, what am I a prophet like I'm supposed
to heal people of leprosy? Now, he writes back, go
(50:19):
go to the prophet, talk to him, not me. So
he does. He goes to Elicia. Elia tells him, who
dunk yourself seven times in the Jordan river? And man,
he brings a big reward with him. Right, brings this
big reward from King Syria, and praise God. He came
(50:49):
back to give him the reward, and the prophet didn't
want it. The prophet didn't want it, he said in
verse fifteen of Second King's five he returned to the
Man of God, he and all his company and came
and stood before him, and he said, behold, now I
know that there is no God in all the earth
(51:11):
but in Israel. Now therefore I pray THEE take a
blessing of thy servant delicious, said, as the Lord liveth
before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he
urged him to take it, but he refused. They even said,
(51:34):
shall there not, then I pray thee be given to
thy servant two mules burden of earth, for thy servant
will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice, unto other gods,
but unto the Lord. You know what he did. He
had to go back to Syria, and he knew he
was going to have to go and pray in this temple.
You know what he did. He took soil from Israel
(51:57):
to put on the ground when he would get down
to pray in that temple. And he would go back
and pray to the God to Abraham as Isaac Jacob.
Because he obeyed the Man of God in Israel and
was cured of his leprosy. God healed him flat out
to see Alicia in that instance wouldn't take a reward
(52:21):
from him. Now he had a servant named Ghazi, and
in verse twenty, but Gahazi, the servant of Milition of
the Man of God, said, behold, my master has spared
name in this Syrian in not receiving in his hands
that which he brought not but as the lord Eliabeth,
I will run after him and take some lot of him. Oh, Gahasi,
(52:48):
there's a reason why the man of God did what
he did. So Gahazi followed after naming and when name
and saw him running after he lighted down from the
chariot to meet him and said, this is all, well,
what's going on? He said, all's well. My master has
sent me, saying, behold, even now there be come to
(53:09):
me from Mount Ephraim, two young men of the sons
of the Prophets. Give them, I pray thee talent of
silver and two changes of garments. Now he's lying, David said,
be content, take two talents. And he urged him and
bound two talents of silver and his bags to change garments,
(53:31):
laid him on his servants in me bear them before him. Well,
he got back, and Unlessen knew exactly what he did,
because the Holy Ghost was there the whole time watching
it all, and told his master, you don't get away
with stuff with God, even if it looks like you did,
(53:52):
you don't get away with nothing with him. Verse twenty seven.
The leprosy therefore of nam and show Cleveland into the
seed forever he went out from his presence as a
left or white as snow. Well, Praise Lord. You took
a reward that didn't belong to you for God's work,
(54:14):
and you lied about it. You underminded your master. And
now the curse that's lifted from the Syrian is on
you and your seed. Why because he took an inappropriate gift.
(54:35):
It's like Daniel, Oh, you just keep those gifts to yourself, King,
Praise God. There are people out there that will give
because they're saving it up because you owe them someday,
or they've got something in mind already that they are
(54:55):
buttering you up for. It's just a simple fact. Now,
let's look at some New Testament about this. The New
Testament church had the custom of selling all their positions
and giving it to the church. Okay, they didn't have to.
They didn't have to, And i'll prove it to you.
(55:18):
Throw me to Acts Chapter five. Acts Chapter five. Now,
Gahazie received a reward wrongly, and Anonius and Sapphirah gave
a reward wrongly. Gahazi lied to receive a reward, and
(55:40):
Anonius and Saphirah lied to give a reward, and they
didn't even have to. They weren't even required by the
church to do it. I'll show you acts five certain
man named Anonius and Sapphira, his wife's sold a possession,
(56:01):
kept back part of the price. His wife, also being
privy to it, and brought a certain part, laid it
at the apostles feet. But Peter said, and as why
has Satan filled your heart to lie to the holy
ghost and keep back part of the price of the land.
He says, while it remained, was it not your own?
And after it was sold? Was it not in thine
(56:23):
own power? You didn't even have to do this. You're
just lying. Why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart?
You have not lied to men, but unto God for nothing,
(56:45):
well for a few bucks, I guess, But like it
could have just told him. You didn't even have to
tell them what the price was. You didn't even have
to tell him what you sold the land for, because
said here ed, this is an offering, it's yours. Use
it for the work of the Lord, feed the widows
or something. And I was hearing these words, fell down,
(57:09):
gave up the ghosts. Great fear came old them that
heard these things young men rose, wound them up, carried
him out and buried them. And it was about the
space of three hours after when his wife, not knowing
what was done, came in and Peter answered her, tell
me whether you whether you sold the land for so much?
(57:29):
And she said, yay, for so much. You said, how
is it that you have agreed together to tempt the
spirit of the Lord? Behold the feet of them which
have buried thy husband at the door, and shall carry
the out. And she fell down straightway at his field
and feet and yielded up the ghost. See they were
(57:50):
doing it for recognition, and they were liars, and God
was watching them the whole time, just like a hazie,
just like Belshazzar, watching the whole time. Jesus said the
(58:14):
sermon on the plane, and Luke six said, give and
it shall Let's go there, Luke sicks, Praise God, Luke
six thirty eight. Given, it shall be given unto you
(58:35):
good measure, pressed down, shaking together, running over shell men,
give into your bosom, For with the same measure you
meet with all, it shall be measured unto you again. Now,
just on principle, because Jesus said it, I would say
ten percent is a really good baseline, wouldn't you. I mean,
(59:02):
the world and Satan will steal way more from you
than ten percent. Heck, even the bidens know you give
ten percent to the big guy for the privilege of
playing in the pool. Not that that's a good comparison
in this aspect. That's the other thing. Democrats and Republicans
(59:23):
and liberals, and they take care of each other. They
understand that they need money flowing in order to do
what they do. They reward each other. Amen. They understand
that it takes money to do certain things, and Jesus
(59:47):
will give to you if you are a cheerful giver,
and ten percent is perfect. And then there's offerings on
top of that. Now, I also know of churches where
they'll have a committee for gifts for the past, and
they'll have special collections and hand them twenty one grand
and the guy's already loaded, while there's people in the
(01:00:08):
church that are barely able to pay their mortgage and
have been tithing the whole time. That does not seem
appropriate to me. Sorry, it just doesn't. That's their custom.
They can do whatever they want. Have I ever demanded
that you set up a committee to take extra collections
for me. No, I will ask you to give. For
(01:00:31):
the work of the Lord. This church is the Holy
Ghost has saved lives through this church. There are people
that have never paid a red cent to this church
that God has saved them thousands of dollars in business deals,
saved their life, saved their children. And I still keep
(01:00:53):
dealing with them, and I don't even begrudge them. That's
my That's what I'm supposed to do. And God always
make sure. I you know, with my wife not having
a job for two years and need go in full
time ministry, I had to rely on God. I learned
(01:01:18):
to walk by faith. I learned to take no thought
for the morrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself.
I learned to give in order to receive. And when
you're when you're a giver, God gives back more. Press down,
shake together and running over. Okay, if I have an
extra expense come up, I take it before God. I
(01:01:41):
get it not always the next day, but at the
right time. And He's always on time. Amen, there was
a oh man, I didn't write it down. I got
one more scripture I got to get to and I
can't remember where it is. Now I got to google it.
(01:02:01):
How embarrassing thy money perish with thee Acts eight twenty
Acts eight twenty uh, Peter was offered a reward by
a man that was a sorcerer, Acts chapter eight. So
(01:02:25):
Philip had gone down to Samaria and he was preaching.
There was this this Simon the sorcerer there, and he
was doing miracles and healings, and unclean spirits were coming
out of people. And these are Samaritans, half Jews. Right
(01:02:46):
when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the Kingdom
of God in the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized.
When you believe the right doctrine, your baptized in Jesus name,
both men and women. And then Simon himself believed also,
And when he was baptized, he continued with Philip and
wondered beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Now,
(01:03:11):
when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria
had received the word of God, they sent undo them
Peter and John. This Peter again just like an an
ass the fire, when they were come down, praying for
them that they might receive the Holy Ghost, for he
was yout for as yet he was fallen upon none
(01:03:33):
of them. Only they were baptized in the name of
the Lord Jesus. I've heard people say that that, oh,
you just you're filled with the Holy Ghost as soon
as you confess with your mouth. Rom how come Luke,
the writer of the Book of Acts, said they were
baptized in Jesus' name. But Peter and John need to
(01:03:55):
come down and pray that they'd be filled with the
Holy ghost. Was some kind of a sign that they
were looking for had to be. Then laid their hands
on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. Now and
Simon saw, listen to this. Okay, Yet there was a
(01:04:15):
visual a sign that somebody had been filled with the
Holy Ghost. Because Simon offered to buy it. And Simon
saw that through the laying on of the apostles hands
the Holy Ghost was given. He offered the money, saying,
give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands,
(01:04:36):
he may receive the Holy Ghost. Peter rebuked him. Peter
said to him, your money die with ya, Because thou
hast thought the gift of God may be purchased with money.
That gift was bought with blood. And you think you
(01:04:58):
can offer mucho arrow to that which was purchased with
the blood of God. Praise Lord. So in conclusion, stay
connected to the vine. Stay connected to the vine. Pray
every day. If you have not received a gift to
(01:05:21):
the Holy Ghost Yath, ask God for it. If it's
inconclusive in your mind, pray about it with faith. If
it is in your heart to give, give you will
(01:05:43):
not regret it. And you got to do it out
of faith. If you're doing it to be seen, If
you're doing it because you think it's going to pull
sway with me, like I respect you more now because
you gave to the church, forget it. If you're gonna give,
do it strictly out of obedience. And God did lay
(01:06:06):
down the pattern of the tenth. I've had people say
to me that was just for Israel, that was just
under the law. No, the first time tithing is mentioned
is before that there was such a thing as Israel
or a law. It was Abraham, are you the seat
(01:06:27):
of Abraham? Do you do the things he did? Now
that cuts out for four or three. He said to
the children of Israel, Well, a man rob God. You're
gonna rip off God? Then you say, how say we
ripped off God said, tithes and offerings. You haven't told you.
(01:06:49):
We haven't brought tithes and offerings for my work. He
stole from me that tide belongs to him. I'm just
a steward. I'm not gonna be here forever, and I
can't take it with me. So I just don't see
the point in getting wealthy. You got you got guys
like uh. Young men are idolizing Andrew Tait because he's
(01:07:12):
an MMA fighter and he built a small fortune by
ripping off guys by having girls making sex videos on
the internet. Andrew Tait is not a role model for
anyone lots of money. I hope he repents, but if not,
(01:07:35):
I'll see at the judgment there is no respect to persons.
For those of you that have, those of you that
have faithfully given, thank you. It is because of this
that I have been able to vote, so to devote
(01:07:58):
so much time. I'm an attention to God's people and
the study of doctrine and the delivery of the bread
of life. It's because of you, and because of you,
I'm able to spend a lot of time with people
who don't contribute, and I will continue to do so.
(01:08:22):
Then if you want to reach out to me to
speak talk you Canada. American doc Radio at gmail dot com.

(01:08:44):
couch and tell me to do what I do. They
charged by the hour. Except I got the Holy ghost
and I'll actually have God lead me to something that
worked for you, unlike people that are always going to
count and psychologists and psychiatrists. Oh that's shall hope for that.
