twenty twenty four countdown. Hello Andrew, Hello Catherine, Hello Matthew,
Lady gentlemen, Hello Michael.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Stop what's going on? Happy dude.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
It feels like it's been quite a while since we've
all been in the same room together recording an episode,
like probably a couple of weeks at least.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
My vocal courts Field refreshed, right right.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
We haven't spoke since then? Oh wow, silent vowl silence. Yeah,
just sick a week. Yeah, But I know we obviously,
you know we we talk pretty much every day in
our group threat anyway, sometimes multiple multiple times a day,
yelling about fantasy football or football gambling or horror movie
physical media releases or whatever else.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
I know. No more fantasy football.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Congratulations to the shine Through Fantasy shine Through Social Club,
Fantasy League Matthew Audette. Yeah, taking down our friend and
former guest on the show, Craig Keller and a absolute
ass ramming of epic proportion is pretty close on actually,
but I wanted to make it sound worse for Correig
was a nail bier, congratulate grat mad he got paid, baby,

(04:10):
May got paid.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Nice. I had the fantasy football and the fantasy baseball
win this year. So dude, look at you. That was
a good year.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Fucking big man on campus. Uh So, I know, we've
all talked. But yeah, everybody had a good Christmas season. Yes,
happy New Year to.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
Wall it's over over, God's down.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Everything's organized in the house. Like we got some new shelves,
we set up all the stuff with toys, and like
we got a nice late Christmas present with being fired
Yeah yeah, absolutely always good asshole. Yeah everything, so that
annoy I know.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
I wish they would have fired him a week earlier,
so it would have lost the game and they'd still have.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
The first pick.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
They should have fired him that morning because then the yeah,
they would have lost.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
So I don't know, but I don't know.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Hopefully greener pastures ahead for the New England Patriots. Yeah,
I'm so happy that the fucking New Year's here and
uh the holidays are behind us.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
I am.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
I am fucking beyond all set. I trying to erase
any details, any Christmas leftover decorations and everything. I think we
managed to get everything. I think everything and.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Just like oop, oops, you forgot about this one.

Speaker 6 (05:16):
Like snowmen and like trees and like winter themed things.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Yeah no more, No more ho hosts in this house.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
Baby snowmen more like ho hose, no.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Ding dongs ho hose, oatmeal cream pass hose, ding dongs,
little swirly thing on.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
The top of the little like I think those are
ring dings?

Speaker 7 (05:43):
Are those ringings almost like a hexagon, the little white
swirly thing on the top, Like, Yeah, I used to
be like snack Wells, devil food cake, my mom, those
are the best.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
My mom used to get the pin wheels, ocolate cookies,
marshmallow those the way, Yeah, oh yeah, baby, those are
what Now. It was like a little mood and it
was like a chocolate like cookie crumble on the bottom
and then marshmallow on top of that. But then it

(06:19):
was all encased in like chocolate pint pin wheels.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
I was looking for a good cookie cookie recommendation.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
That's a good cookie. That's a great cookie.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Cookie recommendations right here in America's absolutely hill.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
The opinions, absolutely well.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
There will be a lot of opinions flung around to
and fro tonight.

Speaker 8 (06:43):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
And I do not want to waste any time because
I know this episode usually does run a little bit longer,
considering that we we cover a lot of different movies,
a lot of different topics, and hopefully maybe not that much.
I mean, we have we haven't really consumed that which
alcohol at this point, so I don't know if we'll
I don't know if we'll be rambling as muchs we
usually do, but I guess we'll see before we do.
So I want to Matthew, you have a little bit

(07:06):
of news you'd like to share.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Correct I do, yep. So Sarah and I have a
bit of stuff up in the area now. We're both
trying to get some new jobs. So that being said, unfortunately,
I'm gonna have to take a little bit of time off.
This isn't you know, This is not goodbye to see
You've seen the situation. But I'll have to take you know,
the next handful episodes here and there more more so

(07:29):
I'll be on maybe once a month a little, just
a little less frequently for right now, until we get
our schedules figured out. But until then, you know, we
have our twenty twenty four right now.

Speaker 5 (07:42):
Yes, yes, to celebrate tonight more, absolut absolutely well.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Like Matt said, this is not goodbye. It is just
a little bit of a little bit of a break
as he gets through his busy time. So hey, Matt,
you know you are always gonna be more whenever you
want to come back, you know, but just pay we're recording,
come by, pop on, do whatever.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
You know, you're always here.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
So so that being said now might be a good
opportunity if you're out there listening. I know there's a
few people that we have we have potentially tossed around.
Is coming on as a as a as a guest
voice here and there. If you're out there and you're interested,
hit us up and we can talk about something fun
and spooky and uh, you know, bring some different voices
on for a little bit. Take advantage of this, uh

(08:24):
opportunity to maybe try and uh, you know, talk about
some different stuff.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
I'm also still gonna watch all the movies. Oh absolutely, Yeah,
I'll send you guys in my review. We're gonna hold
We're gonna hold you to that. Yeah, I can.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
I can read your review a little Matt segment. Yeah,
you can also still make recommendation, still make picks too.
We're still rot like if you want, I can.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
I would just feel bad not being here to talk
about Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 6 (08:46):
We can get a little.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Doll like yeah or the say not just not just
a little doll from the shadows, just a little.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
I can bring the clown that my sisters.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
So we can do.

Speaker 9 (09:03):
Like loss of stuff animals. I know she found it
on eBay, the one I lost to me. I was like,
that's really thoughtful.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
And also I'm horrified because this is the scariest thing.
It's like a cloud. I don't want this in my
apartment now, like as a child is.

Speaker 6 (09:18):
Now.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
I'm like, I'm scared. It's like mister mar marvels.

Speaker 10 (09:22):
If I didn't think it could potentially be possessed, I'd say, absolutely, well.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
That's I don't know who the I don't know who
the previous owner.

Speaker 6 (09:28):
I don't want you to bring that into this house. No,
absolutely not.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
I'm like, one of my sister in law has got
Laila Ferbie for Christmas, so that's battery.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
List right now. I didn't realize that Ferbies are still
a thing.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Oh yeah, really, they're really creepy.

Speaker 6 (09:41):
The government banned them for a while because.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
They talking without their batteries. Fucking really weird. It's weird. Ship.

Speaker 5 (09:48):
I didn't know that's why they were talking without their batteries.

Speaker 10 (09:51):
They were and they were recording things. They were being
used to recording made China. Yes, China, Okay, now that
makes sense China.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
So it's not like they were for a little bit
when we were kids.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
I don't remember that either, idea.

Speaker 11 (10:06):
Oh yeah, I never owned I never had you had
two fbies, Yeah pretty much?

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Oh my god.

Speaker 6 (10:17):
Oh yeah, yeah that explains a lot.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Yeah yeah, Jesus Christ, Well, my child.

Speaker 6 (10:25):
Things to keep me busy, play with Matthew.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
It'll be a bum or not have you over here
every single week. But when we do have you, we'll
make it up. We'll make it an epic occasion when
you when your you do come back hopefully, hopefully, once
we got our schedules kind of narrowed down and Viera
gets a little older, I'll have a little more like
lenience to.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Breakaway for yeah you do, you might be able to
come back sooner if.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
We if I'm able to do the zooms again to okay,
so cool, I'm sure we can figure that out.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Are all right, cool? Good stuff.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
I think, just in terms of, you know, time to
say this, for the sake of time, I should say
we should probably uh just jump right into the episode.
No news, no watch lists up. Essentially, this whole fucking
episode is watchless. Last in between time. Yep, that's when
we're here we've been watching. Yeah, I know, right, So okay,
set it up front and if you saw the episode title,

(11:25):
you know we are doing our countdown of our top
ten horror movies for the year twenty twenty four. Uh.
This is our third time doing this and uh it's
I think my favorite episode.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
That we record every year. I love doing this. It's
like a big shortage sh mortgage board. I love saying
that word.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
Great eas But hey, listen, I know there are a
lot of movies that came out this year. I know
people have very busy schedules. I definitely saw a fewer
movies this year than I have in years past, just
with with my daughter getting older, me and Cat's daughter
getting older, it's just tough for enough fine time to watch.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
As many movies as possible.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
With that being said, I still logged quite a few
on Letterbox, and I am I'm pretty confident and pretty
happy with my list. And I did go back in
preparation for this episode and listen to last year's episode
our top ten and twenty twenty three that too. Yeah,
that was our second time doing it. It was grasping
a podcast. I'm all caught up. Yeah, but I think

(12:25):
It just reminded me overall that last year was just
a really down year aside from like a few solid movies,
a few very good movies.

Speaker 6 (12:33):
I would say, would you say they're still bouncing back
from like COVID and the writers'.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Strikes probably are, Yeah, I would say that's definitely.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
I think they're fully back now.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
They definitely like are back banger year last year there
was I think last year was a victim of that. Yeah,
for sure.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Yeah, last year was a really down year, I thought,
And just like I was looking at like through my list,
and you know, I think there are probably like three
or four movies that I would consider from last year
to be like awesome movies, and everything else that was
on my top ten was like it was like pretty good,
like pretty good, like but not like an all timer.
Yeah that said, I think this is this year is
a year full of all timer's. I think you could

(13:10):
make the case that you know, for a good five
to six, maybe seven movies that are going to be
kind of.

Speaker 5 (13:16):
Top fifteen this year. It would have been easy. I
had trouble getting down to ten.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Yeah, I had a tough time too, But yeah, massive
year at the movies for the horror genre. You know,
unless you've been living under a rock, this is no
surprise to you. I had almost thirty things logged on
letter box for this year. And then you know, amongst
some of those movies that we're talking about here, there
were a number of indie horror films that made that

(13:43):
did massive numbers and had massive success for their labels, like,
for instance, I know Neons the biggest year that they've
ever had that that horror label. They had the biggest
movie in the most I think their most profitable release ever,
which is a movie I'm sure will come up in
conversation at.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Some point in the U.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
We also cut some massive smash hits from massive, huge
horror directors like Fenney Alvarez and Robert Eggers, amongst many
many more. And horror also just continues to dominate at
the box office. I pulled up the numbers for this year,
the year twenty twenty or last year, I should say,

(14:22):
the year twenty twenty four over eight hundred and sixty
eight million dollars gross ticket sales for horror movies at theaters.
Last year top grossing horror movie the year, by the way,
A Quiet Place Day one one hundred and thirty eight mil.

Speaker 5 (14:38):
That movie was terrible.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
I didn't watch to Look at, didn't see PG thirteen
year You.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Open It Up, You Open the Doors for the Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
Followed by a good one, two, three, like five movies
that will definitely be talking about tonight Speak No Evil
remake actually did pretty well. So there's like, dude, there's
a lot of movies that did that made a lot
of money this year. So big year at the movies
for horror, and I just think this is a massive,
massive return to form after I think a down year
in twenty twenty three. So, guys, what did you think

(15:07):
of this year overall?

Speaker 2 (15:08):
It was? It was definitely the so much better than
last year. Twenty twenty two is super fucking great. This
year is right up there with it, in my opinion.
There are some truly fantastic movies that came up this year. Yeah, Andy,
my boy, this.

Speaker 5 (15:26):
Is probably the best year I can remember in a
long long time. I don't know if I remember year
that had this many just like it wasn't so much.
There was a few like absolute bangers, but there was
just everything. Like you a lot of times you go
and watch a movie and you're like I was probably
gonna disappoint Nothing really disappointed me this year, most unless,
like I try to stay away from movies that I

(15:47):
know we're going to disappoint me because I'm like, I'm
not gonna like this anyway, I'm not gonna watching it.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
I did that this year.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
So doing that my types of movies that I enjoy personally,
every one of them. I felt like it like it
got real tough, like getting my last two of my
top ten because there was like eight and I was like, ugh,
I'm still torn. I just changed my number ten three
seconds ago.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Yeah exactly. I Also I agree with that.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
I don't think that there was anything that I had
high expectations going into that.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Really let me down. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
I think everything that I was really thinking I would
like and potentially love I did either really like or loved.
So that was that was a refreshing thing because I,
you know, think that you know, when when stuff can
get over hyped, it can kill the movie for me.
And so I alos think some stuff was under hyped.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Oh for sure.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Absolutely my number one movie, I feel like I didn't
even know was coming out until like a couple of
weeks or a couple of months. Beforehand, so like no
promotion for it. Now it's you know, it's I'll leave
it at that because I don't want to give away
with what my number one movie is for this year. Uh, Catherine,
now about you? What do you think of the year
twenty twenty four in horror?

Speaker 10 (16:52):
I wish I had more time to watch more movies
and to get to the movie theater, et cetera, et cetera.

Speaker 6 (16:57):
Because even like I want to go see.

Speaker 10 (17:00):
Wicked, and like even just I don't know about myself,
and then I'm like, I don't know who I can
go with, and no, I'm not going with you because
you are going to make fun of it the entire
time and it's not gonna fly.

Speaker 6 (17:10):
So I'm probably gonna unfortunately, you have to watch it.
It probably would watch it streaming, which is unfortunate. But yeah,
I just don't have the time. And when I do
have time, like I don't necessarily want to watch a
heavy horror movie, I want to like watch like Great
British Baking Holiday Cookoff for some stupid I've.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Been watching trailer.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Yeah, watching I will say I have to omit nos
Faratu from my options because I have not seen it
yet so if I do like it, and when I
do see it, we'll throw an asterisk on it. Yeah, maybe,
but that'll definitely come up later. That sounds you can't confirm.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
I also to be Yeah, there's a few big ones
that I haven't seen as well. I still haven't seen
Heretic said. I wanted to see that one pretty bad.
I still didn't get a chance to see Red Rooms. Yeah,
so you missed Red Rooms, Hertic?

Speaker 2 (17:56):
Did you?

Speaker 5 (17:57):
Is there anything else? You didn't miss anything else though, right?

Speaker 2 (17:59):
I mean there was. Yeah, I'm trying to think what
you might have missed. We'll get to it. Yeah, we'll
get around to that. But yeah, I mean, hey, it's
gonna make for a more open.

Speaker 5 (18:08):
Discussion I think we should have. The other thing is like,
oh no, that's very common. So I'm talking to myself
in my head with no one knowing what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
So there you go.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Okay with that being said, though, you did get a
chance to see a few horror movies this year, some
that you I think enjoyed a little bit more than others. Right, Yes, Okay,
I'm excited to hear what your picks are.

Speaker 6 (18:28):
A bunch of I just actually I just rearranged them
because then I forgot the order. And when you were saying, oh,
remember what we did last year, I was.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
Like, yeah, you're going to.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Like, oh I need to arrange No, no, no, no no, I'm.

Speaker 6 (18:43):
Still looking at them like I might need to make Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
So I think I'm just gonna run through.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
So last year and the year before we've done just
additional quick hitting categories, just you know, kind of I
guess the America's Hometown Horror Awards for the year, each
of our opinions on these typical things.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
I like these. I like doing this too, you know,
actually want to talk about a lot of different stuff.
Shout out Demi Moore for winning a Golden Globe for
the subject.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
Yes, yep, absolutely huge moment for horror.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
That's awesome. Yeah, she gave a fucking awesome speech. Yeah,
it's worth watching.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
Yeah, it's telling you that's and that's I know you
still haven't seen the substance. You need to see that.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
No, but I want to sure. Oh yeah it was
on last night. Last night, I was watching The Out Seriously, dude,
what is stomping? That was?

Speaker 1 (19:28):
That was a disappointing game. I thought it'd be a
lot better too. But yeah, so why don't we run
through these categories here really quick and we'll give our
opinions and then we'll go into our top ten list, baby,
and then we'll get going. All right, So first topic,
we changed this around. I think last year was the
first year we did it. We're not gonna say.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
The worst horror movie of the year, because there's a
lot of work that goes into making movies.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
A lot of people do things, and I don't think
anyone intentionally goes in trying to make a bad movie. Uh,
So we're gonna call it our least favorite horror movie
of the year. Uh And who would like to go first?

Speaker 2 (20:03):
How do you want to do this one? You don't know?
How do you have one?

Speaker 1 (20:06):
What do you have a least favorite horror movie of
the year?

Speaker 6 (20:09):
Yeah? My number ten?

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Okay, so we'll skip you, all right, So we'll skip that.
So all right, why don't we Andrew, why don't you
go first? We'll go and then literally ten movies.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
Okay, No, My favorite is.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
Tough because I usually one movie I should never have
watched was Trapped. The m Night channel on that movie
was Josh. I thought it was so dumb. Like there
was like eighteen twists for no reason, just a bad
just just not a type movie.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
I think it was PG thirteen, to be.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Honest, it was. Yeah, it was sore.

Speaker 5 (20:33):
Shame on me for even watching that. But I love
I think I like mn chuml on. I'm just hoping
it comes out with a good at some point.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Again.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Yeah, so that's the disappointment.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
And then I watched like thirty minutes of Abigail.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
I hated that movie.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
So I know you guys love that movie.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
I couldn't with that movie.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
Yeah, I Doug Abigail. Actually that's very I'm sure fine.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Yeah, no, I'm just saying that was for me. Those
are my least Hey, listen, this is opinion based. I
don't program folks saying that those movies were bad. Just
like fair enough that Trap was bad. I will say, Matthew,
your least favorite horror movie of the year.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
I just watched this the other night and it was
actually directed by Max Eggers and Sanegres I believe are
Robert Brothers. This was the Front Room with Brandy. It's
an A twenty four release. Oh I did, I did hear?

Speaker 1 (21:22):
It was just it was kind of cheesy. It was predictable.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
It's about a pregnant lady, Brandy and her husband and
they they have her the husband's like stepmother who's like
ultra religious come stay with them, and it's just it
wasn't for me.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
It's very slow too.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
And I don't mind is slow burn, and this was
like too slow, and it was just like you kind
of see everything. I'm not gonna say too much about
in case people do want to go watch it, but
it was just I was like, Wow, what a fucking
absolute bomber of a movie. But this is like Brandy,
like the.

Speaker 6 (21:57):
Singer I gonna say, I'm like okay because that and.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Like the no, none of the acting was bad, Like
it's just the story was just like kind of stupid.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
I was just like, okay, this was a.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Nothing burger of the movie. So that was probably the
other one I didn't really like was that History of
Evil that came out early this year on Shutter. It's
like this every it's like a dystopian future and everyone's
trying to take refuge and they go to this house
that ends up being like an underground railroad thing. It
was like it was fucking weird. I was like Okay,
this isn't where I thought this was going to go either.

(22:29):
Those two were definitely my bottom ones. The Devil's Bath
was another one that I was pretty disappointed in. That's
a full core. It just didn't do it for me.
I was just like, wow, this was not This didn't
hit as much as I thought it was going to
a lot of people on their top ten. I feel
like too, I didn't people liked it, and I was
kind of surprised because I do like full Corps. But

(22:51):
I was just like, yeah, no, this isn't really it
was just very boring, so I just I didn't keep
my attention, So okay, I know you really like folk R.
Yeah that was I was actually pretty mean something.

Speaker 5 (23:02):
I think you said something about them when I was like, yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
I was pretty I was pretty bummed out. I was like, man,
like I thought I was really gonna do it, but
it's like over two hours long, like substantially over too,
and that's a movie. For a movie that starts with
someone throwing a baby over a waterfall, I was like, okay,
like start right and then but yeah, just it just
was really not what I thought it was gonna be,
and just I was just like, yeah, okay, all right, so.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
I have to one is kind of like a just
a had to bring this up because it sucked so bad.
I think it was easily the stupidest movie I saw
this year, and that was Ghostbusters Frozen Empire.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
Oh man, I.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Mean it's just the prime example. You watch. I like Ghostbusters,
I like what I like, but so I of course
I had to check it out. It's it's on that
without it's on Netflix, and it's just the prime example
of like when the nostalgia train just runs off the rails. Dude,
it's just too much stuff, and it's like the whole
thing was fucking member berries the entire time, and and

(24:00):
the studient Okay, yeah, so it's just they're just they're
gonna keep sucking making these movies, and it's just, you know,
maybe I just let my love for the Ghostbusters ride

(24:23):
off in the sunset, But I mind, you would have
done that after the other one I liked, after Life
After Life, I actually did not mind. Maybe it was
just nostalgia reasons. I'm sure if I rewatched that, it
probably pokemonion holes. But my real answer, and this this
really pains me, is because it's just another horror movie
with podcasting in it, a movie called Monolith. I don't
know if either of the other guys saw this. I

(24:44):
like them, So I was just disappointed. I feel like
the concept was so weird and out there and so
right up my alley, and it just it just didn't
do it for me. This was minimalistic, minimal I think
it's like the whole thing takes place in a house,
like in a couple of rooms, with like one actress.
I think you only see one actress the entire movie,
and the rest of the stuff is just actually, no,

(25:04):
that's a lie. There's there's a few there's only a
few actor actors in the actual movie. And it's about
a podcaster. It's like a kind of a disgraced true
crime podcaster that stumbles onto this internet story about this
these alien brick artifacts and that that cause people to
kind of like go insane. It was a very cool concept,
but it just where it ended up. I was just disappointed.

(25:26):
So that's that was my least favorite. It does.

Speaker 5 (25:28):
It just kind of just there was really it was
like one of those just up for interpretation and what
I like, Oh, well that's yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
See.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
Yeah, sometimes sometimes the ambiguous stuff is okay, but I like,
I like when I get to finit advancers. Sometimes I
would have liked all right, best horror TV of the year,
Andy my boy.

Speaker 5 (25:47):
So I don't watch generally much TV in general unless
it's like Seinfeld. But Uzumaki, I know, Mike, you watched that.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
That was very well done.

Speaker 5 (25:56):
I know a lot of the issues that stem from people,
like when they complain about the show is that the
animation was kind of lacking after the first episode, because
I guess they were really rushed to do it in
this type of animation seems very well. It's it's like
extremely time consuming, so there's parts where it's like you
can go, oh, yeah, that's kind of but that didn't.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Ruin the show for me. I thought the show then
the show's fucking fucked ending was a little kind of
man but like just in general, like it is one
of the creepiest like cartoons, really well done.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
I think what Adult Swim released Adults Swim Dude to
all places due Adult Swim like stuff. But yeah, dude,
it was a MOCKI rocked.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
I thought.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
I didn't think the animation suffered at all.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
It was really good, Like.

Speaker 5 (26:36):
The close ups it was like when they did like
the distance scenes, like when they showed the lake, like, yeah,
it's kind of looks like, truly.

Speaker 6 (26:43):
Is this a horror anime?

Speaker 1 (26:45):
It's a horror anime that was a lot of four
episodes on Adult Swim and so you can stream it
now on on Max.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
It's like a movie.

Speaker 5 (26:53):
It's like two hours I think total. Yeahs.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
And so basically it's a it's a really it's a
really well know gingio anime.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
Yeah. I made a movie about.

Speaker 5 (27:03):
It, I think, yeah, for like fifteen minutes, and I
was like, this is I think. The problem was like,
it's really hard to make that story like live action. Yeah,
I feel like you can really only do it justice
with animation. And dude, I thought it was fantastic. It
was really creepy. It was so so Yeah, it's worth
checking out for sure.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Kat. Did you have a favorite horror TV show this year?

Speaker 6 (27:26):
Didn't I released? Were we watching the last step of
the season of What We Do in the Shadows?

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Yes, that's also very good.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
We haven't finished that yet, but the final so far
yeah yeah, I mean the whole the whole thing is
out now, so you know, the series finale is I
think we should finish the finish that.

Speaker 10 (27:42):
But that, I mean, so far has been really good.
It was like, besides that, I don't think I've watched
so many horror TV shows. Okay, that's like my go
to fair.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
I love what we do in the Shadows. So good answer.
I'm glad somebody brought it up. Thanks Matthew.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
I really enjoyed on Shutter Horror as greatest documentary style yep.
Episodical thing where each episode they take a different horror
trope and then they kind of take a bunch of
movies that kind of adopt those tropes and have them
in them, and they it's just any kind of like
documentary style thing where they just talk about a countdown
of movies. Is It's gonna be a yes in my

(28:16):
book every time? Same, Like, new season just started. The
second episode airs tomorrow, so yep, what's that one on?
Shut it? No?

Speaker 1 (28:24):
I mean like the first one was like an animal.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Yeah, the next one I think is supposed to be
like love interests or like romance and horror or something
like that. Okay, I'm sure we'll get to Mike Brida
Frankenstein and sweet Love that cool yep.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
And then I had Uzumaki as well as my favorite
thing that I saw. So next category, uh so this
is I call this one favorite horror grab bag of
the year, which basically can be anything. Uh So, it
could be a book, a podcast, a physical media release,
a haunted attraction, something you did that is Halloween or
horror or involved this year. And we had a lot.

(29:03):
If you murdered someone and you want to disclose that
information on this podcast, you can also go into detail
on that.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
That's hard themed.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
All right, Andrew, would you like to go first?

Speaker 2 (29:14):
Sure?

Speaker 5 (29:14):
So Matt recently got me into collecting a Blue Rays
and I'm now obsessed with it. One of the first
movies I was looking to find out Blu Ray when
I started the subsetment back and like June was Creep
and they didn't have like really there was it wasn't availables.
But second site actually just released a limited edition Creep.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
So I've just purchased that.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
Just wait for that.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
Very excited about that. So cool collecting Blu Rays.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Baby, look at you go, my friend. I know you've
gotten really into that. I'm happy for you.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
Yeah, it's it's actually it's if I need to settle.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
With it, I am the collector.

Speaker 6 (29:51):
I do yes occasionally.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
I mean I don't know I've taken them.

Speaker 5 (29:55):
Out, i've watched them. I mean I haven't watched all
of them because it's it's hard to watch movies. Like
the good thing is like I'm just curating my own
personal favorites so that I can because I don't. It's
something different about just taking it out of a case,
putting it into the Blu ray player, and watching it.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
Having it's it's.

Speaker 6 (30:13):
Like reading a book versus exactly you own you own.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
I'll save you money in the long run with the podcast.

Speaker 5 (30:18):
When you guys are like, oh, you got to rent
this movie for two ninety nine, I'm like, well, I
paid fifty dollars.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
I paid seventy five dollars for this fraud.

Speaker 6 (30:29):
That was a great release, one of the old school ones.

Speaker 9 (30:34):
A big popcorn No, unless that's the movies. I never
have popcorn. I used to have a problem. I used
to have a problem with smart food, but I've tamed
that obsession. I've been doing good. I haven't had any candy.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
I've only had like.

Speaker 5 (30:51):
Two sodas, and like since like Christmas, I haven't had
fast food once.

Speaker 6 (30:56):
Like ten days straight. It's great graduations.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
Impressively, I had the draw just trymcdonald's just yelling into
the ether what I would do for Ash Brown? I
want a spicy make chicken. I know he's avoiding hashbrows.

Speaker 6 (31:16):
I know, all right, that's fair.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
You know what for you?

Speaker 6 (31:18):
Very happy for you. Yes, and your resolutions nice.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Not even a resolution, just I didn't want to be
a fat.

Speaker 6 (31:25):
Fun for potatoes. You can still eat potatoes, but just
don't eat hash Browns. But potatoes.

Speaker 5 (31:31):
Yeah, potatoes, roast potatoes are fine. There's a lot of nutrients,
potasto and I always eat the skins.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
You eat the skin, baby, eat that skin.

Speaker 6 (31:38):
Love skin potatoes twenty twenty five potatoes.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Ye tell you, I like it.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
Cool potato talking. Gafrin favorite horror grab bag of the
year could be anything.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
You act as if I didn't send these questions for everybody.
Also like.

Speaker 6 (31:58):
I'm hearing these for the first time right now.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
So it can be anything.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
A book, a podcast, a physical media release, a haunted
attraction that you went to, something you did are related.
I always hoping somebody would bring that up. Yeah, as
I had that on my list of things as well.

Speaker 6 (32:17):
Yeah, that would be.

Speaker 10 (32:17):
My grab bag. I thought it was great. I thought
we had a great vibe this year. I mean, despite
the raid, it actually made it better. So everyone's kind
of on a one roof.

Speaker 6 (32:24):
Remember because we had remember remember our special guests were awesome. Yeah,
every everything was great.

Speaker 10 (32:33):
I thought it was a very successful event overall, and
better than last year, and we can only go up
from there.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
Yeah, we can only hope to improve each and every year,
and I thought this year was definitely improved, an improvement
over last year and last sorry two years ago was
was a real success as well, So I.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Think that, you know, we can continue to improve on that.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Getting to mean John John Cassierra was pretty fucking awesome,
along with Chris and his wife Melissa and John comp Piano,
all great people.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
So that was a hell of a time.

Speaker 6 (33:02):
Yeah, it was awesome.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Cool, it's my bag, Maddie grab Bag. I'm gonna also
do a physical media release. This was the All the
Haunts by Hours Volume two, companum of Full Court. I
got this this year and I have the first volume
as well. There's like easily between like shorts and full
length features, like probably forty movies on there between the two.

(33:25):
Between the two of them, it's like ninety hours of content.
That's sick. Yeah, no it is. It's a lot of
deep got a lot of stuff from a lot of
different countries that were previously unreleased. These are both Severn releases.
Shadowt Andrews for the Severn hoodie.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
Oh yeah, we should also finish your thought.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
But I was gonna say, and I'm still working my
way through the first one, but I know that this
one has some bangers on it because I was looking
at the movies that are in it.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
I was like, Okay, this is fucking rad.

Speaker 5 (33:51):
So that's a phenomenal deal there because I saw that
on I was on Severn when I was looking for that,
and I was like, look at how much crossing.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
I was like for that many hours though.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
Yeah, that's that was my Christmas present from Sarah.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
That's a great deal. Thanks more than that. Andrew didn't
give us all Christmas presents too. When we stir right
right before we started recording this episode, I'm Mac got
a sweet Severing hoodie from Andrew. Andrew also gifted me
an awesome xenomorph hoodie which I can't wait to rock.
And I get a Twisters Twister how Twister?

Speaker 6 (34:19):
Yes, I was thinking, and I was like, oh, no,
I got you something like that ghost. I wear it
like in Halloween and stuff. But it's not like I
could wear.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
That out Like, Okay, I might.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
I might have given him a little bit of input
on that what you might like. So yep, thank you, Andrew,
You're the best buddy. And Mary Christ Mary Chrysler, all.

Speaker 12 (34:39):
Right, so Mary Chrysler, Harry Christ, grab bag for me,
Vine the Vine I miss fine, very much.

Speaker 5 (34:51):
Simpler time when you have the vine so much better
than TikTok.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
It's made me feel good about myself. I was like,
six seconds.

Speaker 8 (35:01):
As good as my ten get your juice?

Speaker 6 (35:08):
Well, no, TikTok's like, you're just like, what am I
getting myself minutes? Is this going to be worth it
in the end?

Speaker 2 (35:14):
No? Watch ye another rabbit hole?

Speaker 6 (35:19):
Wait too long?

Speaker 2 (35:20):
Ye? All right?

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Grab bag for me I had. I also had Hanson
hops on there. I also I was really this year
very happy with the way that we kind of expanded
our reach a little bit and started branching out and
doing some different live events and doing more of them,
which is something that I, yeah, something that I would
like to continue to do in the future, you know,

(35:43):
under the right circumstances and the right parameters. So mainly,
you know not, I think we did the most horror
trivia this year than we've ever done. We did multiple
We did Halfway to Halloween trivia at Mayflower. We did
trivia at Mayflower the week of Hans and Hops. We
did trivia at Mayflower the day of Hants and Hops.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
We did a.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
Trivia at Second Wind in October a few weeks later.
And then have to mention the live podcast that we did.
Not only obviously we did a live podcast at Hops
and Hops. We did a live podcast opening up for
our friends at Hometown ghost Stories at Barrelhouse, ce and Weymouth.
That was an awesome experience to get to do that,

(36:21):
great crowd, huge crowd, awesome experience. That was a lot
of fun to do. I'd love to do something like
that again. So yeah, looking forward to doing more of
that in the future if we can't so. And then
I also just have to give a shout out. I
know I sing the praises of this podcast quite a bit,
but I feel like the season of radio rental the
if for some reason you haven't heard me talk about

(36:43):
radio rental on this podcast. Yeah, So it's a it's
a horror podcast. It's spooky true stories that are told
by the actual people that experience these events themselves. It's
a lot of supernatural stuff like near misses and just
just getting away from confirmed killers are like serial killers,
that type of stuff, glitch and the matrix type stories.

(37:05):
A lot of like people that you know, almost got
human trafficked, like that type of stuff. So it's a
it's a good mix of different type.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Of art stories.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
Short this season was it was short, That's my only complaint.
But the stories this year I think were some of
the strongest ones they've ever had. A couple of them
that like still give me chills. But yeah, that's a
great show. Definitely check that out if you haven't already.
So that's what I got my crab back, all right,
he has a big one, Andy my boy, best performance
in a horror movie. Don't feel like you need to

(37:34):
stick to just one if you want to hit a call.
I think there's I think we've already heard of one.

Speaker 2 (37:38):
Yeah, I mean that might be her best performance of
all time. Yeah, biggest.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
She doesn't even have that much dialogue, No, she just
chan she channels her more was Yeah, it's we're gonna
talk about it a lot more later, so that more
perfect runner up Grant and he was heard that too.

Speaker 5 (38:05):
Phenomenal played that. It's he played it so well that
I wonder if he actually is doing those things. So
usually he's just like a you think Hugh Grant and
you think of like the family guy's catch with his
big teeth, but like he's actually a phenomenal actor, and
he really he really shows it in this movie.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
So he was really good in that.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
There was a show, a mini series he did on
HBO that we watched a couple of years ago where
he's marrying Nicole Kidman Hugh Grant probably and marring Nicole
Kidman and he's accused of killing somebody, and he's very
good in that as well.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
He plays a really creepy character.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
So it's definitely, yeah, I forget it too, but it'll
come to me eventually. It is also surprising underrated performance.

Speaker 5 (38:51):
I wasn't expecting Dennis Quaid the substance, Oh dude, he
was in general and he played that.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
So I mean you could just say everybody that it
is the the undoing. That's yeah, that was that was
a good show. But I mean the trio of Margaret
Mark Qually to mean more and Dennis if we had
the biggest babe of the year.

Speaker 6 (39:11):
It was like you said. I was like, it wasn't no.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
I was saying, she channeled her and her Gold, Sarah Gold. Yeah,
that was.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
All right, Andrew. Good calls, Catherine. Did you have anybody
listed for the best performance in a horror movie this year?

Speaker 2 (39:28):
You know?

Speaker 6 (39:29):
The one that really sticks with me is the guy
from Long Legs. It's like, had.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Nick Cage on my list as well?

Speaker 5 (39:39):
Uh, you don't let me.

Speaker 2 (39:41):
I'm going to come back not.

Speaker 8 (39:45):
But good Cat, like you think that was really oh good?

Speaker 6 (40:00):
I was like, who is this? It's Nick Cage?

Speaker 1 (40:03):
Is like, what you didn't know that? No, she just
doesn't listen.

Speaker 6 (40:06):
I don't pay attend.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
Honestly, I feel like it uh be tough to get
through this category and not at least mentioned Nick Cage.
Just an absolutely unhinged, fucking batshit Banana's performance some would
say over the top.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
I thought it was fucking great.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
So I'm sure there'll be more on Long Legs coming
up in the in the next several minutes.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
Cool, good call, Catherine, Maddie, I have Willa Fitzgerald from
Strange Darling good Ye lights out because she's all over
the place, and that's a movie that is going to
come up later. And then I also have I have
to look up her name because it's an interesting name.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
Juliette Gary Eppie from Red Rooms.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
Holy fuck, that is the most chilling performance I've seen
in a horror movie in years. That is the most
horrifying subtle character arguably I've ever seen in a movie. Yeah, fantastic, Yeah, yeah,

(41:09):
those they they were just chef's kiss, brilliant in both.

Speaker 5 (41:13):
The next year, we should do nominating.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
We should nominate, nominate people.

Speaker 5 (41:17):
Last episode before this one, we all nominate. Have our
nominations ready, the.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
Hometowns, the awards, sir.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
It's a toilet. It's just just toilet, just me wi.
All right.

Speaker 1 (41:36):
So I got a couple of year that I have
to mention. So shout out will for the.

Speaker 2 (41:44):
Blood, for the Blue Blood.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
Shout out to Michael Keaton for effort, effort less slipping
back into the Beetlejuice role. He was the best part
of that movie, very very I didn't see that.

Speaker 6 (42:06):
It was great. You didn't see it.

Speaker 2 (42:09):
It was fun. It was fun movie.

Speaker 6 (42:12):
It's good.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
Yeah, it's fine.

Speaker 1 (42:13):
I mean, just Michael Keaton's great as Bettle Juice stay stayed,
and I'm sure, yeah, I have a feeling we're going
to be talking about Beetle Juice Beetle Juice a little
bit later on, so I'll save my thoughts. I didn't well,
nobody can see that. Well I haven't seen you.

Speaker 2 (42:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (42:28):
I also I thought the combination of Bill Scarsguard and
Lily Rose Depth and No Fau were both absolutely phenomenal.
Has definitely grown on me a little bit since seeing
at theaters, and I'm sure that'll be talked about as well.

Speaker 5 (42:42):
It was fantastic, and I have.

Speaker 2 (42:46):
To mention David.

Speaker 1 (42:47):
This is the best that David Howard Thornton has ever
been as Arthur Clown in Terrifier three, so he absolutely
deserves to be mentioned. He's just I feel like this
is his character now and it just he's so.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
He's fun.

Speaker 1 (42:59):
He was really funny, really funny. I really wanted to
go with my number one performance here of David Johnson
playing Andy the Android in Alienlus very List, because he
was we'll talk about that movie again later as well,
but yeah, great, just the way he turns on a dime.

Speaker 6 (43:23):
A couple of we got a game.

Speaker 1 (43:25):
Everybody needs to get their road to me. Best performance
of the year made the movie. I love the movie anyway,
but it's the first time that I've really seen him
step into a lead character role. And it's David Dasmalchian
in Late Night with the Devils. Fantastic, fantastic performance. He
was great in it. And that's another movie that we'll
be talked about later. So there's best performances in horror.

Speaker 2 (43:43):
I just wrote.

Speaker 1 (43:46):
I think it's das malchi and I think it's how
you say it.

Speaker 2 (43:48):
I have no idea.

Speaker 1 (43:49):
Okay, new category for this year, as suggested by our
friend Andrew, I'm calling it Welcome to Die. Do you
ever played the X Men video game The Nine Chickens?
You ever seen Magneto say X Men, Welcome to Die.
I didn't know that die was a place, but welcome
to it anyway. So best kill category, Andrew, your best bill.

Speaker 2 (44:11):
Of the year.

Speaker 5 (44:12):
I mean, it's gotta be the yoga girl killed uh
in a violent nature.

Speaker 2 (44:17):
I had that as well.

Speaker 1 (44:17):
I've never seen something.

Speaker 5 (44:20):
And it's like I shuddered watching it and I was like,
I can't watch while it was happening. Yeah, and then
rewatched it like five times again. Yep, because it was
just so well done. I don't think I've ever seen
an execution like like to execute a death that good,
where it's just.

Speaker 2 (44:36):
Like the movie was mine.

Speaker 5 (44:37):
Yeah, I'll never forget about that never, never, never, the
rest of my life forget about that kill in that movie.
And I will show unsuspective, unsuspected, unsuspecting people that just
to get a reaction.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
That's that's cruel.

Speaker 1 (44:50):
That's a cruel thing because it has to be one
of the most imaginative kills that I've ever seen. It
was so fucking far out of left field what they
do with that girl. It's a fucking finishing move and
it is Immortal Kombat fatality. Yes, I don't and I
don't think you've seen it. Cat this this this kill
part afterwards. Yeah, absolutely, Catherine. Did you have a favorite

(45:11):
kill for this year? Yeah, you want to talk about.

Speaker 6 (45:13):
It was the the shower scene with the U.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
I had this one too.

Speaker 6 (45:18):
Is this terrifying?

Speaker 1 (45:19):
Three three the shower killed.

Speaker 2 (45:24):
Up and the Yeah.

Speaker 10 (45:27):
God, I was like, I was like, Oh, he's going
He's putting it chains on his button.

Speaker 6 (45:32):
I was like God, and they just kept going. I was, yeah,
that's the thing.

Speaker 2 (45:38):
They just keep going.

Speaker 6 (45:39):
They just kept going and just see him and I'm like,
oh my god.

Speaker 2 (45:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
I mean, I just feel like with the Terrifier movies,
they're just trying to up the anti on these.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
And just curious to see how much higher they can go.

Speaker 6 (45:50):
Yeah. I don't know, I don't roll up.

Speaker 13 (45:52):
A bunch of little kids with the pipe. That could
be your best too. That's a person that was I'm
remember in theaters. I was just like, I was like, man.

Speaker 1 (46:02):
Dude, geez, okay, could call cat I'm the Terrifier three
shower scene. And I also had that one written down, Matthew.

Speaker 2 (46:11):
I like the girl that births the humanoid xenomorph at
the end of Alien Romulus was fucking extreme. That was
also a really good one.

Speaker 1 (46:19):
I remember that being like.

Speaker 2 (46:21):
A whole league. Fuck. See, that was Bette Avas just
getting his fucking tentacles all over that fucking movie.

Speaker 1 (46:29):
Dude.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
We will be talking about that.

Speaker 1 (46:31):
Movie later on, I'm sure as well. Uh so, you
guys kind of took all the ones that I had
written down, but I do have to give a shout
out here too. Seriously, Winnie the Pooh too, Winnie the Pooh,
Blood and Honey too.

Speaker 6 (46:43):
Because dude, the kills pretty hard.

Speaker 2 (46:46):
We're fucking gnarly.

Speaker 1 (46:48):
I didn't end up checking that one out, I guess,
so I watched the original one after we did the
top ten last time. Yeah, so I didn't really enjoy
the first one that much. This one is unquestionably better.
I mean it's yeah, acting list, you're watching Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, piglet,
and owl and owl killing people, and there's a there's

(47:12):
a basically at the beginning of the movie, Winnie the
Pooh finds a bear trap and he carries it around
the rest of the movie, killing people with his bear trap.
There's a there's a kill that basically the shotgun blast
of the face. That's just absolutely awesome practical effects. You
should you should definitely tell you so the bear trap. Yeah,
there's a there's basically there's a kill in the first

(47:33):
ten minutes of the movie where Winnie the Pooh breaks
breaks this woman's yeah right, he breaks both of her arms,
breaks both of her legs, and then so you can't move,
and then forces her face into a bear trap and
kills her. It's pretty fucking nuts to it's wild.

Speaker 5 (47:53):
I think I have to watch it because I didn't
see it because I was like, I got too many
movies and I'm like, this isn't gonna be in my
top ten.

Speaker 6 (47:57):
Yeah, I kind of regret not watching.

Speaker 1 (47:58):
It's not my top ten. It's not my top ten,
but I had to give some love to it is.

Speaker 6 (48:04):
I'm sure it's one of the ten movies.

Speaker 1 (48:08):
So all of the all the victims of those kills,
I say to you, welcome to die. All right, Next topic,
best non horror movie of the year. This is the
second to last one. Yes, Andrew, what was your favorite
horror movie?

Speaker 5 (48:22):
Favorite non horror movie of the year was probably either
Monkey Man by Dev Patel.

Speaker 2 (48:28):
Movie was fucking bonkers. Love that movie.

Speaker 5 (48:32):
Or I also really like Love Lies Bleeding by Rose
last that movie was also bonkers. Both phenomenal movies. I mean,
I don't really watch a lot of Yeah. Same, So
those are the two that really just those movies rocked.

Speaker 2 (48:47):
Okay, Catherine, I think I'm gonna go.

Speaker 6 (48:50):
With Well, I mean it's on my list. Spoiler alert.
Twisters was awesome. Twister is my favorite movie by far
this year.

Speaker 1 (48:56):
Yeah, Twisters is good and we saw in theaters, Glenn Powell,
good looking guys, Glenna Scream.

Speaker 2 (49:06):
Matthews. Yeah. I had a tough time with this one anyway.

Speaker 1 (49:18):
I will say I'm kind of off the Marvel movie train,
but I did actually kind of enjoy Deadpool and Wolverine.
It was pretty good anytime seeing rated Wolverine stuff. I like,
I like the X Menz. I kind of dug that
movie a lot, But I just saw this one recently.
It just dropped in price to be able to rent.
And this is the type of stuff with like stunt
casting that I absolutely love. And it's the it's called

(49:39):
Saturday Night. It's directed by.

Speaker 2 (49:41):
The US say Night Yes.

Speaker 1 (49:44):
So it's directed by the son of the guy who
directed Ghostbusters. But it's basically about like it's the week
leading up to the premiere of Saturday Night Live. So
there's this is an actor of that plays Chevy Chase,
and there's like a bunch of people playing different characters
and just a really cool thing.

Speaker 2 (50:00):
Like a lot of.

Speaker 1 (50:01):
It's like, oh yeah, it's that person playing you know
this person, it's that person playing Milton Burrow. It's like JK.
Simmons plays Milton bar I saw.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
That one scene. Yeah, yeah, talking show. Yeah that's awesome. Yeah,
it was great.

Speaker 1 (50:12):
So yeah, I actually I enjoyed it quite a bit.
I feel like it did. It was disappointing in the
box office when it came out, so it didn't really
get much fanfare. But I actually really liked a lot,
so it's worth checking out. It's called Saturday Night. You
can rent it. It just dropped from twenty bucks to
like five bucks if he read before, so we thought
that was cool. All right, last topic before we get
into our top ten, Andrew your most anticipated twenty twenty

(50:33):
five horror movie or show.

Speaker 5 (50:35):
Uh So, I was gonna if you don't have anything
I like, I got too many. I got so twenty
eight years later. One percent The Monkey by Oz Perkins.
That movie looks fucking nuts.

Speaker 2 (50:43):
Have that on my list?

Speaker 5 (50:45):
Rabbit Trap that's a it's it's starring Dev Patel and
the guy from Monkey Man, So I'm really excited that
the Companion. I just saw that trailer with Jack Quaid
and Sophie Thatcher. Yes, that looks good, but the number
one is Peter Pan's never Land Nightmare.

Speaker 2 (50:58):
Never Land looks it.

Speaker 5 (51:00):
Could be absolutely fucking wild if they do it right.
An expansion of the the Puniverse. Basically, Wow, Peter Pain
essentially is kidnapped or no is kidnapping people in his
White Man, so he's it just looks bonker or something like. Oh,
that's a weird way to go about it. You're going
to Neverland. You're going to my basement. It's like Jesus.

(51:22):
It's coming out in a week two. So that's awesome
to watch that. Catherine, did you have.

Speaker 6 (51:27):
Anything There's a Bambi movie coming Yes.

Speaker 1 (51:30):
They're calling the Recording the Puniverse. Yes, the Reckoning Bambi,
the recording Baby.

Speaker 6 (51:35):
Is there a Five Nights of Freddy's two coming out?

Speaker 1 (51:37):
There is next year? Yep, that you're that's yours.

Speaker 2 (51:41):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (51:42):
I didn't know anything.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
I didn't know.

Speaker 6 (51:44):
This is the thing, you know. I'm like, we can
come back, you know, Well, there was I forget what
movie it was. There's a movie for two coming out
twenty eight.

Speaker 5 (51:51):
Years later, the News one.

Speaker 1 (51:53):
No, I know they're doing They're doing a sequel to
The Black Phone next year.

Speaker 6 (51:57):
They're doing it.

Speaker 1 (51:59):
There's a new Citious movie coming out next year, the
final movies coming out, Happy Gilmore too.

Speaker 2 (52:06):
Yeah, I mean that.

Speaker 1 (52:07):
I'm excited me too.

Speaker 10 (52:08):
I'm excited about it, right, Yes, I guess looks pretty.

Speaker 6 (52:13):
I mean I didn't know that it was going to
be a thing, but I'm excited to see that.

Speaker 1 (52:16):
Yeah, makes very fun bumbhouse, you know, kind of spooky
creature shop. Yeah, Megan too, Pue No thanks, yep, Matthew.
Do you have a most anticipated twenty twenty five horror
movie or show?

Speaker 2 (52:30):
Yeah? I have twenty eight years later, I have the Monkey,
I have Companion I have there's the Jordan Peel project
coming out, which is called Him. Yep, that's being kind
of kept under wraps. Those are I kind of haven't
looked too much into what's going to be happening to
Marlin directing. I think, so, yeah, wow, because we talked

(52:51):
about that earlier. Yeah, Peel produces it. Yeah, so uh
those those are on my radar for sure. Twenty eight
years later is probably as of right now that I
got it into. I gotta dig deep into my like
little indie circuit and see what all the foreign movies
are gonna be. But that's that's right now.

Speaker 1 (53:08):
That's my top companion is the produced by Zach Kraiger
from Barbarians, right, Yes.

Speaker 6 (53:14):
It's yeah, so Saw eleven is coming out.

Speaker 1 (53:17):
I'm sure they're doing what we do with that.

Speaker 6 (53:21):
That's crazy. And there's another win who won three.

Speaker 2 (53:24):
Yes, they're gonna make like eight thousand of these movies.
They're gonna be feel like.

Speaker 6 (53:27):
They're coming out so fast.

Speaker 1 (53:28):
I know they're trying to make money. Steamboat Willy, Steamboat
Willie Billy. That's another hormone. Do wait?

Speaker 2 (53:34):
Was that?

Speaker 6 (53:34):
I saw that as twenty twenty four, but is.

Speaker 2 (53:36):
That now it's gonna come out? I think in like soon.

Speaker 6 (53:40):
That looks pretty cool.

Speaker 5 (53:41):
As long as they don't just make them all fucking slashers,
that'll be cool. Yeah, because if you just make a
slash because I saw a pro for another one that
just oh it's Popeye, Yeah, a slasher.

Speaker 6 (53:50):
Get the fuck?

Speaker 2 (53:51):
Like? How many like if we have a different idea.

Speaker 6 (53:55):
For there's another ritual coming out.

Speaker 1 (53:57):
Different, I think it's just a different.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
I heard the talk to Me Too is coming out
this year too, okay to me talk to me? Uh?

Speaker 1 (54:06):
So I also had twenty eight years later, I had
the Monkey uh as well, because I think those I'll
see anything that os Parkins does now, so I'm excited
for that. I also Another one that's coming out very
shortly is the new Wolfman movie, directed by the one
El So. He did The Invisible Man a couple of
years ago and that movie was fucking awesome, so Universal
should just keep giving him Bobster movies.

Speaker 2 (54:26):
The trailer looks pretty fucking solid. Yeah, I think it's
I think it could be interesting.

Speaker 1 (54:30):
I'm very excided to see what he does with it
because The Invisible Man rocked.

Speaker 2 (54:33):
I love that movie.

Speaker 1 (54:34):
Also pretty stoked to see Predator bad Lands the new
Predator movie about that, So I think that one is
actually going to get a theatrical release. Theatrical release as
it fucking should, so don't send that ship straight to Hulu.
The Last Frankenstein, Yeah, Del Delros Frankenstein directed by Maggie
Oh Yeah, The Bride, Yeah, The Bride, what's your face?

Speaker 5 (54:57):
From Men Buckley and Chris Bales playing Frank and ye.

Speaker 12 (55:02):
Sick.

Speaker 1 (55:03):
Yeah, So hopefully I think, ye, that's all that we
know and.

Speaker 5 (55:08):
A lot and think of how many movies you don't
care about, like they're just that's the hanger movie graph
or skin graft or whatever.

Speaker 2 (55:15):
This was becoming a shutter on Friday. I guess it's
supposed to be pretty fucking gruesome. Okay, forward to that
cool cool I'm ready.

Speaker 6 (55:22):
What now it's like movie season, Like, it's like, what
are you're talking about? No, I mean the summertime.

Speaker 2 (55:28):
I want to be January February. You get the kind
of a lot of duds.

Speaker 6 (55:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (55:32):
Well yeah, I watched like at least like one movie
every other day.

Speaker 6 (55:35):
I can watch my twenty twenty four movies. Now you
all right?

Speaker 2 (55:40):
That's gonna do it for our categories.

Speaker 1 (55:42):
We are now officially gonna jump into our top ten
films of the year, folks. But hang on real quick,
We're gona take a little break a word from our
quote unquote sponsors. We'll be right back to drop our
lists on your stay tuned.

Speaker 14 (55:59):
It's official critics decision is his Spooky World spook Chaculate,
Enter the New Black Hole or the New Horror House

next door to the Abington Airlos Parens Haunted Mansion. Eat,
drink and be scary. Go to bh mansion dot com.

Speaker 2 (56:58):
All right, we're back.

Speaker 1 (56:59):
It's the moment you've all been waiting for. With baited breath,
here we are with our lists, our top ten lists
of the year. And I will say so this is
pretty straightforwar. We're just going to start from ten countdown
to one. We're all going to go around and circle
the same order that we were doing before, and we
do this thing that the Colors of the Dark podcast does.

(57:20):
I like it a lot, where if one of us, so,
if let's say, somebody has a movie at number ten,
another person has it at number seven, we will table
the conversation on that movie until it reaches the highest
point on the list, so that we can all just
talk about it together without spoiling lists. So if somebody
mentions a movie and it is lower on your list

(57:41):
or higher on your list. I should say, just, you know,
give it a little hand up. Nobody will see, but
we'll know that somebody has it higher and we can
just table the conversation until we get later on.

Speaker 2 (57:52):
Okay, just testing it out?

Speaker 1 (57:54):
Cool, all right, Andrew your number ten.

Speaker 5 (57:58):
My number ten is going to be Eight Eyes, which
was an American film. It was the first movie I
think that was fully produced by Vinegar Syndrome, which they do.

Speaker 2 (58:10):
A lot of cool releases. Matt turned me onto them.

Speaker 5 (58:14):
It is a newlywed couple that is visiting the former
Yugoslavia on vacation for some reason. I don't know who's
going there for vacation, but okay, so there and they
run into this local guy seems really nice, who knows
He gives them like an authentic tour of the former Yugoslavia,

(58:36):
like I'm saying, like sleeping like outside in like a
like a worn torn building. Very cool, slow, slow burn,
last thirty minutes, or fucking bonkers.

Speaker 2 (58:49):
I'd say.

Speaker 5 (58:51):
Seven parts Texas Chainsaw massacre, two parts hostile, one part
speak no evil.

Speaker 2 (58:59):
Jeez, I know, okay, I gotta check this one out.
I'm it's like slow slow.

Speaker 1 (59:04):
Burn, a lot going on, very I think it is
a spider movie. Yeah, no, it's a fucking wild movie.

Speaker 2 (59:10):
Yeah. Eight eyes.

Speaker 1 (59:11):
Yeah, I'm standing this stuff on my nasty Where did
I watch that? I feel like I rented it, but
I may not have. According to this, it's on shutter shutter,
that's right. Yeah, it's on shutter correct.

Speaker 5 (59:23):
Eight Yeah, that's snuck in, like that's the one that
just snuck in like five minutes ago, because it was
like ten, A, ten, B. And then the more I
thought about on these movie find rocks, gotta give it
some flowers.

Speaker 2 (59:33):
Sorry eight eyes.

Speaker 1 (59:34):
Okay, I'm mad that's my watch list because I definitely
want to see some of these movies that I haven't
seen yet. So okay, andrewid number ten with eight eyes.
Catherine your number.

Speaker 6 (59:42):
Ten, late name with the Devil, Well.

Speaker 1 (59:45):
Yep, that'll certainly be talked about a little bit later.

Speaker 5 (59:47):
Oh yeah three sorry, yep, okay, we were doing that
late Devil.

Speaker 1 (59:52):
A ten Matthew number ten, all right.

Speaker 2 (59:54):
I have Curry Barker's short film Milk and Cereal. Okay,
this was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. Basically,
it's a found footage thing. You follow these kids that
are kind of YouTube people and they do pranks on
each other. And basically they stage a prank where someone
comes into a birthday party for Milk, which is his name,

(01:00:17):
the main character who's also Curry Parker, and it goes
out of hand and somebody gets shot. But you find
out that it's a prank, YadA, YadA YadA. It starts
off with them kind of buying a fake gun, so
Milk turns the table and tries to restage another prank
on his partner and it gets out of hand, and

(01:00:38):
as it delves in, you're realizing this kid is not
really kidding, and he's been hurting people and killing people
off camera and on camera and recording it, documenting it
for quite some time, and it just it really leads
into a pretty crazy, hectic twist, is how it all

(01:01:00):
plays out. I thought this was fucking brilliant. This was
done so well. It was dead fucking serious, and it
was super uncomfortable. Shout out Curry Barker. I cannot I
fucking hope he.

Speaker 1 (01:01:18):
Makes a full length movie.

Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
I can't wait.

Speaker 5 (01:01:20):
Is he the guy that does like the impressions of
what's his name, Frank kellyendo.

Speaker 2 (01:01:28):
Of him? I don't know, but I know that I
guy you're talking about. I don't know if he looks
like him, because the other day I forget the kid's
name that is the other main character. But they have
a page on Instagram. It's they're actually do sketch comedy. Yeah,
and it's very funny. Like they're very very good at
what they do. But they really showed that they have
the chops to write and produce and direct and edit

(01:01:50):
and everything.

Speaker 1 (01:01:51):
Cooper Tomlins, Yes, that was play sevens to the other
characters name.

Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
Yeah, this this movie was fucking and it's only like
an hour and seven minutes on YouTube. I was blown
away by this. I was so happy with it. I'm
so happy for them this this really immediately, I was like,
there's no way this escaped my top ten.

Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
Yeah, this just just missed the cut for me. But
I really liked this one as well. I think it's
just a testament to how good this year was just
a matter of taste for my list, because there's a
few that that missed my list that I'm like, oh god,
I gotn't know, I just made it. I just made
a last minute change to my list.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
As we were just recorded, So like I really liked
this a lot. It reminded me a lot of creepy.

Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
So if you're into that type of thing I mean,
and again, if you're a found footage completionist.

Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
Like I am, you got to see this one.

Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
Create more free stuff on YouTube, that is free horror
films on YouTube and making an hour long fucking awesome.

Speaker 5 (01:02:42):
I know this movie is good when Matt likes it
because he doesn't really like that.

Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
Yeah, no, I love this. Yeah, this was shocked. Yeah,
hell yeah, dude, Milk.

Speaker 1 (01:02:53):
I'm glad somebody got Milk and Cereal on their list
because I was. I felt a little bad leaving it off,
but I was like this other movie Milk and Cereal
as a serial. No, not like that, just walk in
here and start saying dumb ship. All right, So Milk

(01:03:14):
and Cereal at ten for mister Odette, all right, my
number ten Damian Leon's terrifier three.

Speaker 2 (01:03:22):
Yeah, all right.

Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
I had a feeling that would be a little bit higher.

Speaker 5 (01:03:24):
And I notice how I didn't raise my hand. I know,
what does that mean? Not on your list on my list?

Speaker 6 (01:03:32):
Shock?

Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
Shock? I was really going back and going to.

Speaker 1 (01:03:37):
Have the deep.

Speaker 5 (01:03:39):
Not too many actually, so a couple.

Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
I did some soul searching with this one. With this movie,
because I really wanted to think about if it's just
a showcase for disgusting practical effects. But I actually kind
of really enjoyed the movie as well, So I ten
I as I have to put it on my list
because I really liked it. Unfortunately, VHS Beyond was knocked
off at the behest of art the clown. So Terrifire

(01:04:04):
three at ten for me, Andrew, you're number nine, My
number nine is Red Rooms. I had a feeling, so
I'm so bummed I didn't get to see this one
before we recorded this.

Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
So I had this one almost didn't make my top
ten because I was trying so hard, and I was like, well,
you could see that this maybe isn't hard, but it's hard.

Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
There's parts of it that are so horrific, horrific. Yeah,
So as much as I wanted to take this on
my top ten just to.

Speaker 5 (01:04:26):
Have room for say Terrifier three or something, I was like,
I can't movie fucking bangs.

Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
Yeah, I can't wait to see it, Okay, Catherine, Red
Rooms at number nine for Andrew.

Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
By the way, Catherine, your number nine, my.

Speaker 6 (01:04:38):
Number nine is It's What's Inside?

Speaker 2 (01:04:40):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
I actually, yeah, I'm glad that you you put this
on your list.

Speaker 5 (01:04:44):
It would be a scary movie.

Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
Who's inside? Who's inside?

Speaker 1 (01:04:48):
My mouth?

Speaker 6 (01:04:51):
It was just it was just a weird movie. And
it was like, I don't know, like I mean, obviously
it's the thing where you know, you get me all
your friends together and stuff and like before you get married,
and you're like, oh, let's do some weird ship and
like all of a sudden, they put like probes on
their heads and they're swapping bodies and like, people.

Speaker 5 (01:05:11):
No, what is this movie?

Speaker 6 (01:05:13):
It's What's Inside on Netflix. It's a good movie.

Speaker 2 (01:05:18):
By my body was saying that he really liked.

Speaker 6 (01:05:20):
Yeah, it's really good. It was cool.

Speaker 2 (01:05:22):
It was definitely cool.

Speaker 6 (01:05:23):
Maybe it's very creepy.

Speaker 1 (01:05:25):
Yeah, it's just it's kind of like one of those
movies where the concept is really out there and strange,
but it's cool and you know a lot. It's like
people that have like friends from college that haven't seen
each other in a while, and you know, some of
them might have some ulterior motives or some shit, and
like people people might not be who they seem and
might have some you know, some some harbor some ill
will towards some of the other people in the house.

(01:05:46):
So it's like kind of one of those things. I
thought it was a pretty movie, like.

Speaker 10 (01:05:49):
You swap a body with one out of like six
eight people, and like you don't know who anyone is,
but you say you're this person, but you might not
be that person.

Speaker 6 (01:05:57):
Yeah, but you encounter someone else. It's weird. It's weird.

Speaker 1 (01:06:01):
Definitely one that kind of skirts the line of horror.
I think too a little bit more sci fi horror,
but I think that this qualifies. Yeah for sure. Okay, cool, cool,
It's What's inside at number nine for Catherine. Okay, Matthew,
you're number nine.

Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
This is the second classic series that Alvarez has dipped
his toes into, and that will be Alien Romulus.

Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
Yep, that'll be talked about, I think tabled for a
little bit longer. My friend fed Alvarez is Alien Romulus
at number nine from Matthew. All right, my number nine.
This is a movie I had to include on my list.
It was one of the most pleasant surprises of the
year for me, and that would be a movie called

(01:06:45):
Frogman directed by Anthony Cousins.

Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
Anyone that was that movie?

Speaker 1 (01:06:53):
I had a feeling that it might not make anyone
else's list, which kind of gave me a little bit
more insenttive talk about because I had. I absolutely loved
this movie. I think it is one of the coolest,
most ridiculous found footage movies that's come out in recent years.
And it has everything that I love in it. A
weird local, uh strange paranormal cryptid legend that is the

(01:07:19):
basis for the story, along with some love crafty and
ship some culty stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
It was just really really cool.

Speaker 1 (01:07:29):
The creature effects were cool, and the ending is absolutely
insane as well. And I Matt, have you seen this yet?

Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
And Kat you didn't see it?

Speaker 6 (01:07:35):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
Frog Man? I think me and Andrew are the only people.

Speaker 1 (01:07:38):
Who lives right. I got the Frogman hanging out?

Speaker 2 (01:07:43):
I love it. I love it.

Speaker 1 (01:07:45):
Yeah, So I I this is I feel like one
of the most criminally underseen movies in a year. That's
very good for horror.

Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
So I would. I would.

Speaker 1 (01:07:52):
I would challenge you, listener, go watch Frogman. Stream it.
It's gonna be out there streaming somewhere right now. It
was you could definitely, wasn't it. I don't think it
was on Frogman I don't think it was on.

Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
I wasn't. It is on scream Box.

Speaker 1 (01:08:10):
If you have scream Box, that's the bloody disgusting streaming service. Uh, Andrews,
would you, I'm assuming you you also really talked that
was That was in.

Speaker 5 (01:08:19):
My top ten for a long time. But then it's
just like you couldn't stay there any longer. As much
as I wanted the Frogman to be there, that movie
was fantastic, one of the best found fudotage movies I've
seen a.

Speaker 1 (01:08:27):
Long Yeah, it was such a really cool concept and
it's it's like, it's kind of funny too.

Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
Yeah, it was grenny.

Speaker 1 (01:08:32):
Yeah, Cryptid Lovecraft called murder Mystery thing. I'm like, yeah,
fuck yeah, dude, let's go. And but yeah, when Frogman
does appear, it is glorious, my friends. So yeah, Frogman
at number nine for me, which brings us to number eight.

Speaker 5 (01:08:46):
Mister Andrewanda, I had stopped Motion Anyone.

Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
Is another one that I still have not seen.

Speaker 5 (01:08:53):
H So that's a British horror film. Basically, it's about
this woman who lives with her mother. Her mother is
like a renowned stop motion icon filmmaker, one of the
best that there is, but she's lost the use of
her hands. So basically she's instructing her daughter how to absolutely. Yeah,

(01:09:16):
she's she's very demeaning, demean.

Speaker 1 (01:09:20):
Yeah, like on how she wants it, and she's just overbearing.

Speaker 5 (01:09:23):
She's a bitch. I don't blame this girl for having
the PTSD and whatever comes from that afterwards, because you
guys have seen it, so I don't want to give
it away. But she starts just say like her mother
dies whatever. Cool, So she starts making her own films
and she just gets in this really weird mental place
because obviously I feel like if you're that type of
filmmaker that does stop motion, it's a fucking creepy art form.

(01:09:46):
Super yeah, something really weird to be really good at.
Like it's dedication, like that's your life. Yeah, so I
can see how you get lost in it. But she
starts using like parts of like dead animals and like
rotten meat and like in her short film, and it's
it like goes back and forth, like it's almost like
you have like parts where she like blacks out, and
it's it just shows you, like the stop motion film

(01:10:07):
that she's making, like what's happening in that which is.

Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
Really fun, but it's like almost like a unreliable narrator
because you're like, are they on their own? Yeah, she's
like unable to separate herself from that. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:10:20):
And then it ends the climax that movies it gets
fucking gets super That's a very violent like end to
a movie. I thought that movie was fantastic in every
aspect and weird, just another great.

Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
Like indie kind of fucking release. I think that was
an I have set to shutter.

Speaker 1 (01:10:36):
Yeah, that's on shutter right now too. I'll definitely check
that one out. I'm pissedating it to watch that one
before we recorded this one. Either sounds a little sounds
a lot like her Hereditary with the plot a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
No with the with the you can yeah I know
you mean yeah little house that she build them like
oh yeah in the bad relationship with the mother at all.

Speaker 1 (01:10:56):
Yeah, Like she's using that as expression to yeah, yep,
okay cool stop motion at number eight for mister Andrew
Catherine Number EIGHTHO Night Swim, Night Swim.

Speaker 2 (01:11:10):
I didn't know that you saw this movie.

Speaker 6 (01:11:11):
I did.

Speaker 1 (01:11:12):
Yeah, I didn't know that anybody wanted to see that movie.

Speaker 7 (01:11:14):
Why?

Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
Oh terrible?

Speaker 10 (01:11:16):
Oh you got this pretty high in your list's Well,
actually I actually mixed up my my nine.

Speaker 6 (01:11:20):
I my my little crack in my phone. It has
a crease on my phone, and I was like.

Speaker 10 (01:11:27):
Oh wait, oh, this was actually supposed to be nine
and the one I said for I'm supposed to be
But it.

Speaker 6 (01:11:32):
Doesn't matter because none of you have on the list anyway.

Speaker 10 (01:11:35):
Yeah, but this reminded me of It's like a retired
baseball player they started new life.

Speaker 6 (01:11:42):
They buy this house. What they buy this house has
the pool, Weird things happened at the pool. It reminded me.
The reason I liked this as my number nine some
eight either wore was because it reminded me of that
Are You Afraid of the Dark? Yes, yeah, episode literally
to a t, like all of a sudden, you're looking

(01:12:04):
like it's every fear you have in a pool with
seeing that episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark
coming true, Like all of a sudden, people get grabbed
and they're like pull into the pool, or there's like
a weird voice or whatever, and like you instant fear
because you're like over your.

Speaker 10 (01:12:20):
Head and you're like, what, oh my god, is there
someone out here like that? Whole aura of like just
that aloneness in the middle of a body of water
by yourself, like it's horrifying.

Speaker 6 (01:12:33):
So yeah, night swim, Yes.

Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
Night swim.

Speaker 1 (01:12:38):
At number eight, can I switch those though?

Speaker 6 (01:12:41):
Okay, so it doesn't really matter, but I mean, yes, cool.

Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
Yea, So I should say it's what's inside at eight
for Catherine. Kay, technically fair enough. Okay, Matthew, you're number eight.

Speaker 2 (01:12:56):
I have Damien McCarthy's oddity. I also had that at.

Speaker 5 (01:13:01):
Eight, me too, but I haven't higher.

Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
You have it higher.

Speaker 1 (01:13:04):
Okay, so we'll table the conversation on audity. Nice eight,
nice nice eighth. Pick there, Matthew. Uh yeah, so Andrew
your number seven. My number eight was also audity.

Speaker 5 (01:13:18):
Yeah, wait a minute.

Speaker 1 (01:13:22):
The substance, Yeah, it'll be obviously, it'll be a little
bit later on in the discussion. I would say, okay,
the substance excuse me at number seven for Andrew, which
brings us back to Catherine for her number seven.

Speaker 10 (01:13:34):
Maya is Winnie ex funny how I'm gonna read it
the way I wrote it because I was writing this
past Winnie the Pooh, Blood and Bunnies too, blood and rabbits,
but two as.

Speaker 1 (01:13:47):
In t o O, Like, well, Rabbit's actually one of
the only characters one Rabbit.

Speaker 5 (01:13:53):
Rabbit would be the one that I would think would
be killing people because Rabbit hates and.

Speaker 10 (01:13:57):
Like, I mean just general horror senses of like the
Easter Bunny. I mean, Rabbit would make a natural crazy villainy.

Speaker 6 (01:14:08):
Well, there's that Blue Holidays thing where.

Speaker 10 (01:14:13):
And I mean, if you go to Mexico, are very scary.
So we yeah, we've been to Mexico around eastern and yeah,
it's horrify.

Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
The costume choice for the Easter Bunny that we saw
was was not not not a good one.

Speaker 6 (01:14:32):
But yes, Winn of the Poop Blood ninety two did
not disappoint. As Mike mentioned earlier, it was carnage upon
carnage upon bad acting. But it was awesome because like,
you go into this with the zero negative ten expectation
of like, I'm going to hate this and it's just

(01:14:52):
funny in a weird way.

Speaker 2 (01:14:54):
Too to hate it.

Speaker 6 (01:14:57):
Well, I knew I liked the first one, but a
lot people like are just like, oh, this movie they.

Speaker 1 (01:15:01):
Had a much bigger budget, so it's going to be
much better.

Speaker 6 (01:15:03):
Oh yes, yes, yeah, the kills were great. The practical
effects were awesome. Like the way it ended was perfect.
It was great.

Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
It was awesome. Yeah, it's it was fun.

Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
I definitely, Like I said, I I didn't make my list,
but I did see it with Kat and it's it's
a big improvement over the first one. I will say
that it's absolutely not a waste of time at all.
Are the costumes, the masks still the same, just corny
like plastic.

Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
They look way better.

Speaker 5 (01:15:34):
Do the better.

Speaker 6 (01:15:35):
They're not a lot different from the first one. But
like owls wouldn't do that. Owl can talk.

Speaker 1 (01:15:41):
They all talk, except for Winnie the Pooh.

Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
All of them talk.

Speaker 6 (01:15:44):
Yes, So that's that's start they started. Like there's more,
it's it's a little.

Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
Yeah, I can get down with them.

Speaker 1 (01:15:51):
Yeah, worth your time if I watched the first one, as.

Speaker 10 (01:15:55):
You absolutely if you want to watch segment the man,
we'll get some We'll get some candy and McDonald's and
red slurpes.

Speaker 2 (01:16:03):
Just get high.

Speaker 1 (01:16:04):
The ending scene.

Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
I won't mean something, You're not spoiling.

Speaker 1 (01:16:10):
I'm just saying there's there's a scene at the end
where there's a bunch of characters at a reeve in
an old warehouse, and all the characters show up and
just starting murking people.

Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
And it's insane inside that pretty cool.

Speaker 6 (01:16:23):
A lot of a lot of.

Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
Yees there are.

Speaker 6 (01:16:29):
Winning the po movie.

Speaker 9 (01:16:30):
There's boobs, body boobs and boobs and blood, blood and boobs,
blood blood boobs.

Speaker 6 (01:16:37):
That really would have been a better blood and boobs.

Speaker 2 (01:16:41):
That's probably maybe. That's pretty good.

Speaker 6 (01:16:48):
Nice, that'd be funny, that'd be really funny. They'd probably
make more money because you would be like, what is
I'm going to see? I'm winning the Pool movie tonight? Okay,
have fun m hmm, what's out? What's up in the
movie right now?

Speaker 1 (01:17:04):
And love it?

Speaker 2 (01:17:08):
That's what it was. Love it.

Speaker 6 (01:17:10):
I mean you'll see I.

Speaker 1 (01:17:11):
Will Okay, Winny the Pooh Blood and Whinny the Pooh
Blood and Honey too. At number seven. Let correct number seven. Okay,
uh Matt, you're number seven?

Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
All right. I have a film by Scott Beck and
Brian Woods. This is heretic. I haven't seen it my list, Okay,
there's so many.

Speaker 1 (01:17:32):
The floor is yours.

Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
We have Hugh Grant giving an absolutely fantastic performance, and
then we have Sophie Thatcher, who is also brilliant. I
don't have the other girls at the top of my head.
She was really good to them.

Speaker 1 (01:17:43):
They're all good.

Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
So basically, you have two Mormon girls going and doing
their door to door kind of spiel, and you get
into Hugh Grant's house, which is very interesting looking and immediate, yeah,
something's up with it. But they go inside and immediately
they're like, we need to see your wife that way.

Speaker 1 (01:18:02):
We know that's like our rule, Like yeah, that's actually
like a religion thing.

Speaker 2 (01:18:05):
That's the same with that's yeah, And he's like, oh,
she's in the other room making a pie like you wife.

Speaker 1 (01:18:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:18:12):
They're like, we can't go in the house, and he's like, oh,
she's out back, but he's like, I'll go ask if
she wants to come out. YadA, YadA, YadA. They trust
that she's out back, they come inside, and from there
they're stuck in this house with you Grant.

Speaker 1 (01:18:26):
It goes from there.

Speaker 2 (01:18:27):
They have a lot of dialogue in the front of
the movie, a lot of theological talk, not really debating,
but kind of baiting like questioning, and it leads to
certain you know, oh like kind of questioning their own
faith and this, that and the other thing, and leading towards

(01:18:48):
you know, what is right.

Speaker 1 (01:18:49):
And what is wrong, what religion is actually real, what's not?

Speaker 2 (01:18:52):
And from there it goes into they realize they need
to get out of the house, and then they realize
they're locked in, and it gets pretty fucked up. From there,
you realize there's no wife to Grant is trying to
harm them, and they go into uh a dungeon and

(01:19:13):
I'll leave it at that.

Speaker 6 (01:19:14):
So I put that on my add to list.

Speaker 10 (01:19:18):
I just googled it really quick, and like the few
pictures I saw, I was.

Speaker 6 (01:19:20):
Like, oh, absolutely, I'll watch it with you for sure. Yeah,
I want to see it.

Speaker 2 (01:19:28):
I like you.

Speaker 6 (01:19:29):
Grant anyway, he's great.

Speaker 2 (01:19:31):
He's a bastard Boston.

Speaker 6 (01:19:33):
He's a master.

Speaker 2 (01:19:36):
Bastard man.

Speaker 1 (01:19:37):
Because Hugh Great is a bastard man. Okay, Harry tik
number seven from Matthew uh my number seven is g T.
Mwlner's strange darling.

Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (01:19:48):
I figured that might be a little bit higher on
some people's lists. All right, Andrew give us number six.

Speaker 5 (01:19:54):
So my number six, Robert Eggers knows.

Speaker 1 (01:19:58):
Robert Eggers knows, FATU is also my number six. We
just talked about talk about.

Speaker 2 (01:20:08):
And Mike and Joy and I stay at the theaters a
nice Mattinee.

Speaker 5 (01:20:10):
When we saw this movie together on your birthday, Mike
purchased popcorn box.

Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
It's like, I didn't even know. It doesn't suck you
it does. It does not suck.

Speaker 1 (01:20:20):
Unfortunately, it's still in the work truck, by the way.

Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
I gotta get that back back.

Speaker 6 (01:20:25):
How is it?

Speaker 1 (01:20:26):
It's like what I was driving the work truck that day.
It's an actual just sarkoff.

Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
Actual it's an actual sarcophice.

Speaker 5 (01:20:33):
And the person I murdered is actually in that we
need to get rid of that body.

Speaker 1 (01:20:38):
And this your most anticipated horror movie of the year,
because I know you were. You were really rare to
go see this.

Speaker 5 (01:20:42):
Like so, I don't know if it was was it
was it announced that it was coming out in December
early on in the year. I think it was the
potential for it to be pushed back because I think
Long Legs was my most anticipated. Yeah, this was up
there as soon as I found out whatever it came out,
knowing Robert Edgars, because Robert Eggers, I mean, this is
Robert Aangers as absolute peak performance. Like you take the

(01:21:03):
Witcher and the Lighthouse and you put those together and
then you add in Dracula or mas Faratu, whatever you want.

Speaker 2 (01:21:14):
A banger, such a good gothic horror film.

Speaker 5 (01:21:18):
The shots, the cinematography is more beautiful as always, the
all knowing just dread that's just draped over this movie.
Lily Rose dep The opening scene in this movie sets
this movie up so fucking well. I don't understand how
people don't like this movie or think it's pretentious. I
just think that they don't understill stand not film, just

(01:21:38):
Robert Edgars, This is Robert Edgars.

Speaker 1 (01:21:42):
They probably were like, I'm gonna go see a Marvel movie.

Speaker 5 (01:21:43):
And I did watch the Werner the Vanner Herzog remake
from seventy eight, and his is fine, it's not that great.
And he also he uses all the names of the
characters are from Dracula.

Speaker 1 (01:21:54):
Yeah, use the Dracula names.

Speaker 6 (01:21:55):
That one.

Speaker 5 (01:21:55):
Most people complain with the monster design, the Nosatu design.
I think after initially when I started, I was like
a little.

Speaker 1 (01:22:03):
Ooh, taken aback surprise by what I was looking at.

Speaker 5 (01:22:05):
But then when I read more about it and how
he was using like actual, like Vladdim Paler and like
folk yep, yeah, like actual, Like this guy does he
studies everything to it.

Speaker 2 (01:22:15):
He's very smart when you think of it that way.

Speaker 1 (01:22:17):
The creature designed the monster sign.

Speaker 2 (01:22:19):
Yeah harf. And he's like in his like late thirty.
Yeah he's young. He's not young.

Speaker 5 (01:22:24):
He's got more and more to come, Like he hasn't
come out with a bad movie.

Speaker 1 (01:22:27):
I believe he grew up in New Hampshire going to
going to Plymouth Plantation or Plymouth Protexit, whatever it is. Now,
that's how we got the inspiration to do The Witch
or one of the reasons. And can you just say
Dracula again? So that was my biggest hesitation walking out
of the theater immediately after seeing nos Faratu was the
look of no s Faratu himself. And I remember we
were walking to our cars, Andrew and there were two

(01:22:47):
other guys that walked down to the movie and they
were walking near us and we started talking about the
nose Faratu design and they were like, yeah, that was
a little strange, right They just like turned around, they
were like, yeah, that was kind of strange right now.
I was like, Okay, good, I'm glad I wasn't the
only one that initially thought that. Buteing him do interviews
and stuff like that, I understand much more why he
chose that look, And I think that that is the
part of the movie that has grown on me the most.
But everything everything else about this was spectacular. Do you

(01:23:09):
think it's the best Robert Egger's movie?

Speaker 2 (01:23:11):
Why?

Speaker 1 (01:23:12):
Okay, so Northman, I've only seen half of the Nord.

Speaker 2 (01:23:14):
I actually finished The North Mand.

Speaker 5 (01:23:16):
It kind of it was one of those I wasn't
that excited to see it as a movie in general,
so it kind of dragged on a little bit of
me and I didn't really get too into it.

Speaker 2 (01:23:24):
You know, I have my girl in it, but that
was when she was looking weird.

Speaker 5 (01:23:27):
But uh, this is I think his best I like
this ten times better than The Lighthouse.

Speaker 2 (01:23:33):
The Witch has.

Speaker 5 (01:23:34):
A very safe spot in my heart. Yeah, so it's
closed there, but it's better than that. I also, I'm
convinced that Bill Scarsguard is indeed a skin walker. Yeah,
because his voice in this movie, Like I know, there's
a lot of prosthetics with the monster. Yeah, his voice,
how he does all these different is insane.

Speaker 1 (01:23:52):
So did you did you have you? Have you heard
how he actually got his voice to that point?

Speaker 2 (01:23:57):
I don't think I did.

Speaker 1 (01:23:58):
So he trained with an o for a singer Coach
to take his voice down a full octave when he
did the voice, so it doesn't sound anything like he
did with Penny Wise or anything else that he's ever done.
It was really cool. The whole thing is extremely well done.
Everybody in this movie is acting their fucking ass off.
And you know who steals the fucking movie is Willem

(01:24:19):
Dafoe because he is just dude. Robert Eggers loves him
and he is just he is chopping at the day.
Oh boy, we got a motion picture going on here.
He's one of the best actors to ever.

Speaker 2 (01:24:30):
He's just so much stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:24:32):
I would say he's probably the best character actor exist.

Speaker 1 (01:24:36):
Yeah, he's up there, and I mean he's awesome in this.
Speaking of your girl on your tailor, Joy, did you
know that she actually was supposed to get there?

Speaker 2 (01:24:43):
She was supposed to I think.

Speaker 1 (01:24:44):
I think Lily Rose depth now whatever she was, she
was great.

Speaker 2 (01:24:47):
So she was great, fantastic.

Speaker 1 (01:24:49):
Nicholas Holt, I feel like it's a little bit underappreciated
compared to everybody else in the movie. He was really
good and it kind of carried the entire movie, but
it was. It was awesome.

Speaker 5 (01:24:58):
I loved how Will the whole time when they were
like talking about this movie, like doing like all he
could talk about was how great the rats were to
work like two hundred Like it was like they were
so like I was worried that I was gonna like
step on.

Speaker 2 (01:25:09):
The Yeah, it's like, I love you's awesome. Yeah. I
thought this movie was awesome too.

Speaker 1 (01:25:15):
The more and more I get away from it, I'm like,
I really like that movie and I really want to
watch it again.

Speaker 5 (01:25:20):
This is one of those movies that I'll stand on
a fucking hell and be like, fuck you if you.

Speaker 1 (01:25:23):
Yeah, it's it's good. It's very very good. And this
is what like, dude, this is It's it's kind of
rare that you get a horror drama movie, which this
is with such a huge budget, like huge production budget,
and it like did well at the box office. So
like it's it's great. I can't recommend that enough. Definitely
try and catch it in theaters if you can. If not,
when it comes to streaming, watch it immediately. It's really

(01:25:43):
really good.

Speaker 5 (01:25:44):
Now did I almost fall asleep a couple of times
in this movie because it was such a dark movie
and it was just there's parts where it was a
lot of conversation, and it was in a matinee.

Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
Yeah, and you're just sitting in there just because it's
not like it's it's not it's not constant action.

Speaker 6 (01:26:00):
It's a it's a.

Speaker 5 (01:26:01):
Roberts, it's a Got the car Or Tale. It's gonna
have like some wall in it, so be ready for that.
And I'll be like, there's morely stupid. There's too much
dialogue and it's not enough people. There's no Marvel character.
You're looking at me, No, look at the wall. Yes
is essentially yes, exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:26:20):
So at six for Andrew, also at six for me,
which means that we are going to Catherine for number six.
Now you'll love no Saratu. By the way, I think
you really like it a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:26:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:26:30):
Yeah, I think you'll actually really like it too.

Speaker 6 (01:26:31):
I know.

Speaker 5 (01:26:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:26:32):
Actually, the more you talked about it, I was like,
you know what, I'm gonna add that on my little
little way.

Speaker 1 (01:26:37):
You little cue, Yeah, my quick way, my way.

Speaker 6 (01:26:40):
Uh, Abigail is my number six?

Speaker 2 (01:26:42):
Okay?

Speaker 6 (01:26:43):
Did you have an I know song.

Speaker 1 (01:26:45):
I didn't have it on mind either, but this justice
I didn't hate it, though I know Andrew hated it.
I also thought This was a pretty god damn good movie.

Speaker 2 (01:26:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:26:52):
I liked it obviously, for like the dance references in
the point and the ballet things, just to like the
little girl Bellerine I was I danced.

Speaker 6 (01:27:01):
For a long time. Yes, yeah, yes, yes, But overall
even I'm not a big vampire fan. I think besides
what we do in The Shadow is because it's comedy
the nose for I mean, and I guess I liked
Renfield too.

Speaker 2 (01:27:21):
But.

Speaker 6 (01:27:23):
Overall I don't do the vampires and the twilight and
the weird.

Speaker 2 (01:27:28):
I don't.

Speaker 6 (01:27:28):
It gets a little bit no, But I mean like
there's a lot of.

Speaker 10 (01:27:31):
Vampire things that I don't really like like, so I
don't normally associate something that I like in horror with
like a vampire.

Speaker 6 (01:27:37):
But I actually did like this movie in terms of
a vampire movie, which says a lot.

Speaker 1 (01:27:43):
I feel like vampire stuff is a lot like zombie stuff.
For me, it has to be different and good enough
for me to actually appreciate it, and I thought that
they This is directed by the Radio Silence guys who
worked on the VHS movies in Southbound and did the
two stupid Scream sequels that came out the last couple
of years, and I like this way better than those
screaming Oh yeah, I thought, Yeah, it was really cool,

(01:28:04):
great ensemble cast, really cool. Dan Stevens is very good
the I believe it's the final on screen performance of
that kid Angus Cloud who died a couple of years ago,
the guy from what's that show you watch on HBO?

Speaker 6 (01:28:19):
I love that guy too?

Speaker 1 (01:28:20):
That Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't call him beautiful, he's no,
he's a he's a lovable character guy.

Speaker 5 (01:28:30):
Oh not the guy that was insult and that everyone's like, oh,
not very Jacob Alordi or whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:28:38):
Oh yeah he is. I think he is. Actually I've never.

Speaker 5 (01:28:40):
Seen the show, so Jacob. He's the tall guy, tall
drink of water with the curly hair, the nineteen tall drink.

Speaker 6 (01:28:51):
I am. Yeah, I know the guy this guy from died,
so this was he said was his last? Yeah no,
but yeah he was really good for you too. Yeah,
but yeah, I really liked this. It was what am I.

Speaker 1 (01:29:08):
Dan Stevens is in this too, really good. He's good
and everything. A bunch of good character actors in this too.
Catherine Newton plays like the main character and that she's
been in a bunch of stuff too. I forget what
else but Kevin durand not Kevin Durant, the basketball player,
but he's also in this movie. Rom Sean Carlo Esposito
is in this He's pretty good in the limited screen
time that he has. So it's a cool movie. It's

(01:29:28):
worth checking out. I feel like they almost kind of
they did this movie a disservice in the marketing by
revealing that it was a vampire.

Speaker 2 (01:29:36):
Movie, Like they really do that. It could have.

Speaker 1 (01:29:39):
It could have been a bunch bigger surprise to people.

Speaker 10 (01:29:41):
I was gonna say, because if I didn't really know
what this was, you just make it be.

Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
Then they kidnapped the girl and her father's yeah some
big hit boss or something.

Speaker 6 (01:29:51):
Yeah, that's literally what I thought it was going into it.
I didn't know it was a vampire movie.

Speaker 1 (01:29:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:29:55):
I think you mentioned that.

Speaker 10 (01:29:56):
You watched it at one episode and you're like, oh,
it's really good, and I was like, oh, yeah, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:30:01):
The cover of the movie is like a vampire, Like
why are we doing that?

Speaker 2 (01:30:05):
Like why Like when they marketed from Dusk god on,
I don't think it was marketed as a vampire.

Speaker 5 (01:30:10):
Should never market the movie for what it is unless
it's like a romantic comedy. Sure, you can't confuse people
too much. You don't want the wrong love story.

Speaker 2 (01:30:22):
Oh god.

Speaker 1 (01:30:24):
Yeah, but well, I think one one thing they kind
of like they kind of paint themselves into a corner
for a little bit as well, because the working title
for this was just uh an untitled universal monster movie
from Radio Silence, which is kind of okay. When you
say that, you kind of know it's going to be
a certain it's it's a horror movie. So thrill didn't

(01:30:45):
make my list, but I did. I did, Like Abigail,
I know, Andrew, it wasn't really your cup of tea,
but I thought it was. I thought it was pretty
goddamn good. It missed the cut for me.

Speaker 2 (01:30:53):
It was close, though.

Speaker 1 (01:30:54):
I think I had just like, I'm sure I give it,
should like it more than I did.

Speaker 6 (01:30:57):
I just didn't like.

Speaker 5 (01:30:58):
I hate that idea, that's that style.

Speaker 2 (01:31:01):
Yees. Yeah, it's okay.

Speaker 1 (01:31:02):
You don't have to addie game at numerou Cities for
Katherina Katharine.

Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
Okay, Matthew, I have six at number six. Perkins long Legs.

Speaker 6 (01:31:15):
Too, probably five to five because I was like, wait,
so we all have it for nothing. Don't give away
that I just gave it.

Speaker 1 (01:31:28):
You know, that's okay, because it's it's higher than five
on another list, So we'll talk about it. I just
want to reader it's higher. Yes, I give you. So
that was a lot of back and forth. Your number
six is long legs, long legs from six was for me,

(01:31:49):
which means that we're now onto number five, which means
long legs.

Speaker 2 (01:31:53):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:31:54):
And his number five was long legs. We'll talk about
that a little bit later on. Now we're back to
My number five is yep? Okay, holy ship, look at this?
Back to me, back to Matthew number five?

Speaker 2 (01:32:07):
All right, Cameron Karens and Colin Karen's Late Night with
the Devil Tire higher. Wow, that's shocking. There was too
many shocking shocking.

Speaker 1 (01:32:21):
Uh. My number five was Parker Finn's smile too higher okay,
which means that we're now to Andrew.

Speaker 12 (01:32:33):
You talking about higher Andrew the rules?

Speaker 1 (01:32:37):
All right, Andrews number four, we're flying.

Speaker 5 (01:32:42):
So I had a French film by David Morrou called Mads.

Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
Okay, this didn't.

Speaker 1 (01:32:49):
I did not get a chance to see this before.
I desperately want to watch this as.

Speaker 2 (01:32:54):
It's a one shot means they just they just shoot
it and then that's they just follow the people one
long shot, which to me is wild. I think there's
a couple questionable parts in it where I go there
probably was a break Mads m A D. S.

Speaker 1 (01:33:11):
Mad's French film.

Speaker 2 (01:33:13):
Basically, this guy's going picking.

Speaker 5 (01:33:15):
Up drugs from his dealer and he's like, not this
guy like this, Like he's probably like twenty, looks at
home with his dad. His dad clearly got money, a
lot of money. Well, he's a guy, he's not a boy. Yeah,
he's some guy, some fucking guy, Romaine let us, he's
his name, Romain vegetable. So goes home. He's on his
way home from his drug dealer. Suddenly some fucking bloody

(01:33:39):
he takes.

Speaker 2 (01:33:39):
A crazy drug. He takes a crazy well.

Speaker 5 (01:33:41):
Yeah, he's like fucked up on like like loosers, maybe
acid or something. He's driving along and then this fucking
woman comes running out of the woods who's like all
bloody him whatever. So he picks her up and she's
like all over him. He's like all right, and he
gets back to the house, his dad's house. He's like,
she kills herself. I don't want to do two much
into it. She kills herself. Blood's all over him, all

(01:34:03):
over the car. His girlfriend's coming over to pick him
up to go to some birthday, like his birth it's
his birthday, so they're gonna go to some party, get
fucked up due drugs. So it's basically it's a heart attack.
This movie is absolute fucking like cardiac arrest.

Speaker 2 (01:34:20):
It's up down, NonStop.

Speaker 1 (01:34:22):
Madness is happening.

Speaker 5 (01:34:23):
They go to the party, someone else gets like this
blood just keeps getting transferred.

Speaker 1 (01:34:27):
So basically the blood.

Speaker 5 (01:34:28):
From that first woman is getting into their pores or whatever,
and it's like a zombie movie. And it's probably my
favorite zombie movie other than Twenty eight Days Later.

Speaker 2 (01:34:39):
Like and the music of the sadness, I did not see.

Speaker 5 (01:34:42):
The silences that that might be probably up there, but
the music was very similar to Twenty eight Days Later,
not in like actuality, but like tone and just how
it was done and just the fact that like this
is one of the more it almost reminded me of
the first episode of the Last of Us, Like how

(01:35:04):
how something like this could happen, and how quickly it
could happen, and how fucking chaotic it would turn in
the blink of an eye. What's happening? It's just bonkers movie,
and it's I mean it's an hour and a half.
I think hour in twenty eight minutes. Yeah, it feels
like it's forty five minutes. It's just okay, balls the

(01:35:25):
walls the whole time.

Speaker 2 (01:35:26):
I mean, I'll be watching Mike.

Speaker 5 (01:35:27):
Matt told me about that movie, and I was like,
I might put that and I'm glad I put that
on my list because serono as I watched it, like,
I fucking.

Speaker 2 (01:35:32):
Love this movie. It was a little lower on my
like total list, but I did.

Speaker 1 (01:35:36):
I did enjoy it.

Speaker 2 (01:35:38):
Okay, Matt's man that's also on Shutter right.

Speaker 1 (01:35:42):
Oh okay, Shut Bangers, Shut dude, Banner Year for Shutter.

Speaker 2 (01:35:46):
Yeah, yep, well we need to run through a bunch
of that.

Speaker 1 (01:35:49):
We're gonna talk about another Shutter movie here then a
little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:35:51):
But uh okay.

Speaker 1 (01:35:52):
Number four is Mads for Andrew, which brings us back
to Cat for Her number four.

Speaker 6 (01:35:57):
My number four is Smile too.

Speaker 2 (01:36:00):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:36:00):
I don't think anyone else had on their list.

Speaker 2 (01:36:02):
I had it.

Speaker 1 (01:36:03):
I had it at number five, so you have it
the lowest, which means that we can now talk about it. Yes, yes, okay,
Smile too is yours?

Speaker 6 (01:36:11):
Well? I mean I love Smile one.

Speaker 2 (01:36:13):
Yeah, we all did Smile, and.

Speaker 6 (01:36:17):
This was this was a great sequel to it.

Speaker 10 (01:36:19):
I mean, obviously you know the premise going into it,
but you're like now reliving the whole thing and seeing
all the carnage and the weird, creepy faces and the
it's just kind of it's a good Like I knew
what I was getting myself into the second one, and
I think it lived up to its expectations for me anyway.

Speaker 1 (01:36:39):
I think I think it completely surpassed my expectations. I honestly,
I thought when Smile came out it had no business
being as good as it was the first one. And
then when they I was like, okay, they're going to
make a sequel to this.

Speaker 6 (01:36:51):
You didn't like the first one?

Speaker 2 (01:36:52):
No, no, I love the first one.

Speaker 1 (01:36:53):
But I'm saying, like, how good because Craig says that
that would probably stupid because the whole marketing in paying
with people that like the baseball games. And then I
was like, holy yeah, yeah it's insane, dude. This one,
I feel like you kind of it takes it to
a completely different place, where like Smile, the first one's

(01:37:13):
kind of a more contained story with like one like
just an average girl that's like, you know, this is
the circumstances are happening to her. The shift with this
one is that the Smile world is now, uh, it's
a big pop star that's experiencing all of these things.
So I would like pretty much like I would always
compare it to like a Miley Cyrus type character, Like

(01:37:35):
she's at the beginning of the movie, she's coming out
of rehab, very like a very big tragedy happened to
her in her life. I won't well, actually, you guys
have seen it, so yeah, you see the movie. Yeah,
So I mean yeah, so basically her she gets into
a car accident with her boyfriend and they were fucked
up on drugs, and the boyfriend dies, she lives, goes
into rehab. Yeah yeah, and then basically like the Smile

(01:37:57):
stuff starts happening. And I thought it was just a
really cool way to expand the lore of the whole
Smile curse. Yes, sickness whatever. It is so cold open.
Oh he's starting into a scream king yeah kind of dude.
But yeah, so like pretty much. The first ten minutes
of Smile Too picks up exactly where the first one

(01:38:19):
left off with, with Kyle Gollmer's character the cop basically
going to this like this drug house to try and
exterminate this Smile curse. And it's a fucking awesome cold open.

Speaker 5 (01:38:30):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:38:30):
Needless to say, he's not really in the rest of
the movie afterwards, But I just thought, yeah, yeah, exactly,
but I really like this. There are some crazy scares
in this movie. Jump scares don't get me like they
used to, but the Smile movies have awesome jump scares.
There are times I jumped. This one was like uncomfortable. Yeah,
I'm like, dude, I'm like, I like felt bad. I'm like,

(01:38:53):
we're just watching this poor girl have like a fucking
like mental crisis.

Speaker 17 (01:38:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:38:57):
I think what made it so uncomfortable the first one,
you didn't really know what you were doing.

Speaker 6 (01:39:02):
You know, you're gonna you know how the demon worked.

Speaker 5 (01:39:04):
When you know how the demon works, so you knew
that a lot of the stuff that was happening might
not actually Yeah, but it got to a point where
it was like in your hand, You're like, no, He's
like when it got to the part where she got
picked up in the car after she like murdered, like
killed her mom in the hospital and then went to
the car and her friend picked her up.

Speaker 1 (01:39:20):
I thought that was I didn't never it's like you
have because it was all over the place, and I know,
I read me the fuck out, just like the psychologist
in the first one where she gets the phone call
when she's in the session with the therapist and then
all of a sudden, therapist is just smiling that that
fucking freaked me out.

Speaker 5 (01:39:37):
And then when she's on stage that event reading the
teleprompter and it's.

Speaker 1 (01:39:41):
And then Jack yeah, and so the biggest friend, Yeah yeah.
The boyfriend character her her dead boyfriend is played by
Jack Nicholson's son, who looks exactly fucking like him, and
the smile that he has is just ripped from the shiners,
like the July fourth, like yeah, yeah, so talk about

(01:40:05):
talk about a stunt cast. That was a really good,
really good choice for that role. And I just thought
the reveal of the creature, like the smile creature at
the end when she's on stage was fucking phenomenal.

Speaker 5 (01:40:17):
It's a se popping into the top ten. Who would
have thought that.

Speaker 2 (01:40:21):
Top top five.

Speaker 1 (01:40:22):
I have hop five. I have two sequels online. This
is Terrifier three two twos. I have a not a sequel, but.

Speaker 10 (01:40:29):
Yeah, yeah, it's it's I mean, the Smile Holes. If
we're going to call it like a sequel franchise kind.

Speaker 2 (01:40:36):
Of thing, it's gonna be a one.

Speaker 6 (01:40:38):
Yeah, almost like they piggybacked on it follows but made
it more extreme.

Speaker 1 (01:40:44):
The version was very very much.

Speaker 6 (01:40:47):
And then there's another likes that.

Speaker 5 (01:40:49):
Come out that comes out this year, that comes out
this year too. Thought it follows. I remember, I believe
it's called It's swallow.

Speaker 1 (01:41:00):
You said that so many times and we did that.

Speaker 10 (01:41:05):
If I would die, well it swallowed, it swallows, would
be like, that's it.

Speaker 1 (01:41:11):
That's it for me, famous screenwriter.

Speaker 2 (01:41:15):
There you go to takeover and it swallows. Yeah, and
there's two director directorial features.

Speaker 6 (01:41:20):
Wait coming out.

Speaker 2 (01:41:21):
Yeah, it's called the follow to It.

Speaker 1 (01:41:24):
Yeah, I think I think it's coming up that I
will confirm, but yeah, smile to Rocked.

Speaker 2 (01:41:31):
So all right, smile too.

Speaker 1 (01:41:32):
At number four for Kat, which means that we are
onto number four.

Speaker 2 (01:41:36):
For Matt Damians Terrifire three. I okay this year all right.

Speaker 1 (01:41:47):
Number four for me is Cameron and Colin Carnes directing
Late Night with the Devil, which I think I have
at the highest on my list. Let's talk Late Night
with the Devil. I am shocked that this did not
make it onto your list nor your list. Yes, my
number five, that's right, sorry, five, five, number ten, ten say.

(01:42:10):
I think I'm more so shocked that it didn't make
its list. So we did do a full episode on
this movie, and I it was the first major horror
movie I saw this year. We went to the Alamo
Draft House in Boston to go see it. That was
an awesome exure.

Speaker 17 (01:42:23):
Popcorn Baby and uh this after six the other after
after don This did.

Speaker 1 (01:42:31):
Really well at the box office and is now also
streaming on Shutter, which is a sick physical release.

Speaker 2 (01:42:39):
Oh yeah, I love come to the vhs of like
just the straight cut of the show. Yeah that's really yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:42:48):
I I walked out of this movie knowing it was
probably gonna be somewhere in my top ten. Is a
matter of how high I think it was. It wasn't
my number one for a long time, and then some
other stuff just kind of knocked it down a little bit. Uh,
but again, David Desmalchian was awesome in this movie. I
thought it was a really cool concept. Basically, if you
haven't heard of this movie, it is he plays a

(01:43:08):
guy named Jack Delroy who is essentially like a Johnny
Carson or like a Jay Leno, hosting his own late
night talk show. There's an awesome cold open with this
that's narrated by Michael Ironside talking about his rise to fame,
his kind of fall from grace, and his involvement in
the Grove. What was the name of Groves the Groves,

(01:43:29):
which is like something Grove something Michael Graham, Groves, medidamchallic. Yeah,
but it's basically like a Hollywood like secret society thing
that may or may not like actually exist.

Speaker 2 (01:43:41):
So that's a really cool way to introduce the movie.

Speaker 1 (01:43:42):
And then the rest of it is is kind of
found footage and not kind of it is and then
it basically like, yeah, unearthed footage. It was really cool,
really well done, and it's basically him trying to get
his show back into rating success with a Halloween special
where they do an exorcism live on air and fucking
ship just goes bananas.

Speaker 2 (01:44:02):
It also has a hilarious amount of Production Company opening. Yes, yes, yes,
it's like the Family Guy. Literally. I remember watching it
in theaters and after like the seventh or eighth one,
I started by laugh.

Speaker 1 (01:44:16):
Yeah, you gotta being if.

Speaker 2 (01:44:18):
They were all animated, like you're like all right.

Speaker 1 (01:44:22):
No, he okay, it keeps going, just keeps going. Yeah,
seeing this on the big screen was a really cool experience.

Speaker 2 (01:44:27):
It was. It might have been one of my favorite
favorite things that we did this year was going to
see this movie.

Speaker 5 (01:44:30):
I loved how they had like the behind the scenes
yeah footage, which made it feel like like you're watching
like an MTV or a VH with like behind the
scenes or love I love everything, like a Twilight Zone
episode too, like the ending phenomenal movie. I don't know
how that found its way out of my top ten.

Speaker 1 (01:44:46):
Was so happy that it was still planted in my
top five. Yeah, because I still fucking love that gravy.
And again this again an incredible year for Shutter. Between
getting this movie Mads, which also came up on our
list in a violent nature stop motion stop motion the
HS beyond eighty eight Eyes they do they had so
many audity uh, the creep tapes like Lootle.

Speaker 18 (01:45:09):
Track, did you ever watch Luke track. No, did that
never end up? That's a movie you should check out. Okay,
I'll check that one out for sure. But yeah, I
loved Late Night with the Devil. There just happen to
be three movies that I loved more than that particular one.
So yeah, Late Night with the Devil at number four
for me.

Speaker 1 (01:45:25):
And obviously go back and listen to the entire episode
that me, Matt Andrew did after we saw Late Night
with the Devil if you want to hear what we
thought about it in further detail.

Speaker 2 (01:45:33):
All right, we're in our top three. Andrew, what's the
number three?

Speaker 12 (01:45:36):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (01:45:36):
Fetti Alvarez, Alien Romulus feeling I have it higher?

Speaker 1 (01:45:41):
M Alien Romulus at number three for Andrew. Catherine, what's
your number three?

Speaker 6 (01:45:45):
Mine is Beetle Juice.

Speaker 5 (01:45:51):
It was awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:45:52):
It was great. You don't have to laugh.

Speaker 1 (01:45:54):
I mean I I honestly I like this movie too,
just not enough to be on my top ten.

Speaker 6 (01:45:57):
No, it was awesome. It was a great sequel sequ
I guess yes, Oh, I like that. All of the
original cast was awesome in it. Yeah, Catherine Harris phenomenal writer,
was great. Michael Keaton was awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:46:18):
I mean, Jenny Ortega kind of fits perfectly into that
world writer's daughter.

Speaker 2 (01:46:23):
She really does.

Speaker 10 (01:46:23):
It's weird how she morphs from one character to another
so perfectly in every movie she does.

Speaker 6 (01:46:30):
I feel like she hasn't really gotten a.

Speaker 2 (01:46:32):
Role that like, she's been bad at No, she's solid.

Speaker 6 (01:46:35):
Yeah, she's been solid.

Speaker 2 (01:46:36):
I don't know, like The X where she plays like
a really I forgot.

Speaker 1 (01:46:40):
She's a dude person in that too.

Speaker 2 (01:46:41):
She's not like as.

Speaker 6 (01:46:44):
She's a lot of.

Speaker 2 (01:46:45):
Hard stuff, lots of it.

Speaker 6 (01:46:46):
Wednesday, Yeah, she was.

Speaker 2 (01:46:47):
Wednesday Adams in Prey. No, she wasn't in Prey. She
was in No, she was in both. She was in
the two most frequent screen movies.

Speaker 6 (01:46:56):
What in p No, I thought, just like jenns Yeah,
but I know what you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (01:47:03):
Yes, big eyes, eyes like dolls.

Speaker 2 (01:47:07):
Dolls, but whatever.

Speaker 6 (01:47:10):
I thought it was awesome. I thought it was a
great sequel. I wasn't disappointed when I watched it.

Speaker 1 (01:47:16):
Also another movie that is Borderline Stolen by Willem Dafoe.

Speaker 2 (01:47:21):
Fucking great in the movie was awesome. Like nine movies
in the last two years, Need Money does seem like
a gambling Actually I don't know, but.

Speaker 1 (01:47:30):
He's he love the art, just loves the art of acting,
my friend. He so he's just he plays like a
like a private investigator in the nether world.

Speaker 2 (01:47:38):
He's a really good to start doing his like six degrees.

Speaker 6 (01:47:43):
Honestly, that's that's a great episode.

Speaker 2 (01:47:47):
That so he was great.

Speaker 1 (01:47:49):
This is definitely like old school throwback Tim Burton, like
all practical effects. There's there's a really cool stop motion
sequence in this movie that's pretty cool. Uh, good practical
effects with like this and worms, like all the beatlejuice
stuff still still kills. And like I said, I think
I've said it before, but I was worried they were
gonna have too much beetle juice in this But it's
kind of just it's.

Speaker 5 (01:48:09):
There's a certain actor that isn't in this there's a.

Speaker 1 (01:48:12):
Certain actor that is not in this movie, and his
his absence from the movies acknowledged very much so, and
that is the stop motion sequence is how he is
no longer involved in the story, which is a very.

Speaker 6 (01:48:25):
In the movie. Interesting.

Speaker 1 (01:48:27):
Yeah, it's it's very jeff Jones, Jeffrey Jones so very
very meta.

Speaker 2 (01:48:31):
Waited to do it, but it was cool. Interesting.

Speaker 6 (01:48:33):
I'm surprised they even did that.

Speaker 1 (01:48:35):
Yeah, that's impressive. And I will say so Justin Throw,
who's a pretty good actor that's not in a ton
of stuff, but he plays a great slime ball that
is dating of No so alcohol the other guy, yeah, Jeffrey,
the guy who plays the dad.

Speaker 2 (01:48:59):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And and Alec.

Speaker 1 (01:49:06):
He's not he's not a little rusty with No, he's not.

Speaker 2 (01:49:10):
So Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:49:11):
I thought I thought Beatle Juice. Bele Juice was very cool.
It was, and they absolutely set it up for a
third one. Whether or not they'll make it, I don't know.
If it is that we're going to be called Beatle
just be just Bail would imagine what it should be.

Speaker 2 (01:49:21):
And you know what's going to be called candy Man.

Speaker 6 (01:49:25):
I feel like they have to make a third one
and they have to have Michael Keaton in it and
just and then just end it like that's that's the
whole point.

Speaker 1 (01:49:35):
The only thing I would say it is a detriment
to this movie. It's it kind of does that thing
a lot of like the big sequels do it. It's
trying to do a lot and not all the plot
threads kind of connect, but it's still it's still absolutely working.

Speaker 10 (01:49:45):
I think and I think that the way that they
put this together after having so many years apart the
first one was good.

Speaker 6 (01:49:51):
And I think if they were to come out quickly
with a second a third one.

Speaker 5 (01:49:55):
Well, I'm surprised you didn't talk about this movie.

Speaker 2 (01:49:57):
Is your most exciting movie.

Speaker 5 (01:49:59):
Gets it's coming out with a third part next year,
you know, because Pocus or the Chokeer is right.

Speaker 2 (01:50:07):
Yeah, the third focus focus, I don't say number two.
They're gonna wheel, just wheel.

Speaker 12 (01:50:15):
Farting and.

Speaker 2 (01:50:17):
Being serious.

Speaker 6 (01:50:19):
This will be this will be.

Speaker 1 (01:50:21):
Yeah, just farting in the CBS, which actually happened in
focus focus too.

Speaker 2 (01:50:26):
It's unbelievable. Is just the lady that works? Yeah, we
have you can't. Oh my gosh, I'm.

Speaker 1 (01:50:31):
Just walking around CBS with a shopping basket like a
total asshole. If you shop at a CVS with a
shopping card, you're an asshole.

Speaker 2 (01:50:37):
I hate not a baskets. I can spend I can
spend nine dollars on the box of This is like Grandy.

Speaker 10 (01:50:44):
This is like Grandy from Scream and he's like saying
the rules. It was in the second one, I think
after he had died, and it was in the second one.
It was the third one, No, it was a third
one came back. But then the third one when he's like,
you know, if you're watching this one a dead whatever, blah,
you know, you don't what the three Scream three and
Scream three and Randy again, and then he's like, unless

(01:51:04):
all the rules don't All the rules always apply to
every horror movie, except if you're dealing with a trilogy.
And then it's like, I could see Hogus Focus and Beetlejuice.

Speaker 5 (01:51:14):
Beetle Juice and Winning the Poo three.

Speaker 6 (01:51:15):
And trilogies, no rules apply and done. I that's my prediction.
I bet ten dollars that I'm correct.

Speaker 1 (01:51:27):
Park is just the keeper.

Speaker 6 (01:51:34):
I think I think all three of those focus will
end on trilogies.

Speaker 1 (01:51:40):
Okay, all right, so Beetle Juice, Beetle Juice at Numero three?

Speaker 2 (01:51:45):
Yes, well, good one.

Speaker 6 (01:51:48):
Wow, when to pound it?

Speaker 2 (01:51:53):
Here's your Okay? My number three is JT. Millner's Strange Darling. Okay,
table that conversation for a little bit. Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:52:08):
My number three is Oz Perkins Long Legs. Did anyone
have it higher?

Speaker 6 (01:52:14):
No, it's fine.

Speaker 2 (01:52:15):
No, I.

Speaker 1 (01:52:18):
Remember that another movie that we did an entire episode
on after seeing at the theaters. Uh well, I watched
this the second time, which was Kat's first viewing of
this movie, and I think it still works extremely well.
I heard a lot of people say that, you know,
they don't think that Nicholas Cage performance kind of held
up beyond the initial viewing, but I thought it was
a very creepy, very effective, well done riff on like

(01:52:42):
seven not seven, but like what's like Silence of the Lamps,
but with Supernatural Ship.

Speaker 2 (01:52:47):
You just have to take his performance for what it
is and just be like, this guy's out of his
fucking mind, like a statue? Is it over the top?
Character the top? Is this movie over the top?

Speaker 6 (01:53:00):
Fuck?

Speaker 2 (01:53:00):
Yah? Is Nick Cage just in general over the top?

Speaker 6 (01:53:04):
Yep?

Speaker 2 (01:53:04):
Yep? Fuck Yeah, Like this is exactly what you want
Nick Cage to be doing.

Speaker 1 (01:53:09):
Yeah, anyone that has a probably that performance is.

Speaker 2 (01:53:10):
Stupid, no patience. I loved Long Legs.

Speaker 1 (01:53:13):
It was so good and I also I think we
we obviously mentioned Nicholas Cage in it, But I also
think Mica Monroe is great in this movie. She's another
one that's been in a million scary movies.

Speaker 2 (01:53:21):
And everyone really good. Yeah, everybody was good.

Speaker 1 (01:53:24):
H the guy that plays her boss. That the actor's
name is Mother's great phenomenal. Yeah, she's great. Yeah, yeah,
I thought, but this movie rocks. And it's a really
really cool serial killer religious this year. Yeah, I mean
I think that's more and more every year. Yeah, it's scary.

Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:53:42):
So I mean again, if you long Legs was awesome.
We did a whole episode on it.

Speaker 2 (01:53:46):
I loved it.

Speaker 1 (01:53:47):
I think this is the prime example of a movie
that lived up to the hype this year because they
own they the hype was extreme when it was coming out.
Better vibes and the fucking opening of this movie. This
the opening give the beggest fucking hard on him, Like, Oh.

Speaker 5 (01:54:00):
It's like it just looks so seventies or so eighties
or whatever, early nineties, whatever time period was Like if
when you can do that in a movie like Nail
the time period so it feels like you're in that
time period, that to me gives it like you're already
starting at like a baseline six.

Speaker 1 (01:54:16):
Yeah, you're starting at Yeah, it just only goes up
from there.

Speaker 5 (01:54:19):
And then you added serial killers, nick cage dolls, creepy dolls,
yell a bait, a lot of kids getting killed.

Speaker 1 (01:54:27):
Yeah, everybody. Yeah, this is a huge win for horror.
That movie just awesome stuff, and Long Legs loved it,
absolutely loved it. Also, I feel like we didn't talk
It didn't get talked about in the best kill the
welcome to Die category. But Nicholas Cage smashing his own
face out on the table was fucking intense. And hell

(01:54:48):
another one too, but I meant to bring it up.
We were talking about Smile too, but when the drug
dealer smashes his own with the bar bell, holy fuck
that wild, fucking ruesome, insane. So yeah, Long Legs at
number three for me, which means that we're moving into
our top two.

Speaker 5 (01:55:06):
My number two is J T. Mulner Strange Darling. All right, Uh,
this is just everything I want in any movie. I'm watching, nonlinear,
fucking serial killers, phenomenally acted, beautifully shot, Like before we

(01:55:27):
get into this, Giovanni Rabisi, here's your fucking flowers for
the cinematography.

Speaker 2 (01:55:31):
Is this his first first one ever? Think that?

Speaker 5 (01:55:34):
I was like, Wow, you fucking killed and I wanted
to give him his flowers because he first off, I
love him as an action Can.

Speaker 2 (01:55:41):
We talk about him and Ted Ryan phenomenal?

Speaker 1 (01:55:46):
Yeap, just even gone in sixty seconds. He's good in that,
good in everything, good character actor.

Speaker 2 (01:55:56):
Mike As this movie.

Speaker 5 (01:55:57):
I was blown away by it, like you well, you
had wella Fitzgerald best performance in the She was Kyle
Gollner phenomenal.

Speaker 1 (01:56:06):
I love how so first off, vibes, How's that Jack built?
Gave me those vibes just by the chapters, the way
that they did it.

Speaker 5 (01:56:15):
I also had this movie being competitive, different than where
I can pulp fiction. This movie also took a complete
one on you, like it had me going in a
certain direction. And then as soon as I realized that
it wasn't what I thought was happening, which.

Speaker 2 (01:56:29):
I think, yeah, you're like, oh, I was like, I
was like, oh fucking Then I was like.

Speaker 1 (01:56:33):
Oh, I'm like they're doing it together. And then I
was like, oh, oh.

Speaker 2 (01:56:36):
He's not doing anything.

Speaker 5 (01:56:38):
He's just he's She's a fucking lutatant and she was
fucking phenomenal.

Speaker 2 (01:56:45):
Like the the opening, the cold opener of this movie
and the like the reveal to being like, oh, it's
the electrically like oh fuck dude, like she's been well.

Speaker 5 (01:56:55):
They fucked it up because they If you watch it
in subtitles, like I watched Anything Get It, ladies, and
then you have the demon and I'm like, well, if
he's the demon, he's clearly the bad guy, and they're
like nope. Then you have the hippie couple make the
most delicious breakfast I ever seen.

Speaker 2 (01:57:12):
Made I want to eat them.

Speaker 9 (01:57:14):
That was so much.

Speaker 2 (01:57:15):
That was so much futter in those frieda eggs.

Speaker 9 (01:57:17):
I was like.

Speaker 1 (01:57:19):
And also that guy was in Curry Enthusiasm. I can't remember.

Speaker 2 (01:57:21):
He's also the dad from uh in Pineapple Express. Okay,
he's a phenomenal loser. Oh yeah, he's awesome and everything. Yeah,
strange Darling was great. That was a really good I
mean I was very surprised. How could that? That was
the most Andrew movie you can have. That's what This
movie was excellent, And like I said, it would not

(01:57:44):
hold weight. Played in chronological having not even not even
was it like backwards or anything, but like the chapters
were like completely jump.

Speaker 1 (01:57:53):
It was just if you did.

Speaker 2 (01:57:54):
Cocaine and then watch the movie. They do a lot
of drug academy.

Speaker 1 (01:57:59):
The role playing sex scene in the hotel too fucking insane,
absolutely insane.

Speaker 2 (01:58:04):
Wild.

Speaker 1 (01:58:05):
Yeah, that was wild.

Speaker 11 (01:58:07):
Just like.

Speaker 5 (01:58:09):
When the cops show up and like and then like
the whole ending of the movie, like, it's so, what
is the ending of the movie your mind remind me
of an in violent nature when the girl, the woman's
driving away.

Speaker 1 (01:58:18):
Yeah, and then she gets in the truck and the
whole time you're just waiting.

Speaker 2 (01:58:20):
You're like, she fucking oh fuck Jesus Christ. That's cool.
I was like, Oh love this movie. Yeah, And you're
waiting for her the whole time she's in the passenger seat.
You're like, oh, man, does she have enough to pull
because you know she's got another gun. You're like, is
she gonna get the gun out? And she just can't
she's too weak. Oh man, dude, that movie was fucking oh.

Speaker 1 (01:58:46):
Perfect, Chef's perfect, Strange doll and baby everything. I wanted
perfect number two for Andrew Strange Darling. All right, Catherine,
what's your number two?

Speaker 6 (01:58:57):
My number two is terrifire three.

Speaker 2 (01:59:00):
Awesome. I'm glad that you love this.

Speaker 1 (01:59:02):
There's the highest. Yeah, awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:59:05):
Talk to us about where.

Speaker 6 (01:59:06):
Did you have the only one?

Speaker 2 (01:59:07):
But you have it? Honorable mention, honorable mention. Yeah, I'm
telling you it's weird. Gear.

Speaker 6 (01:59:14):
I went with my I went with one, yes, yes, no,
I mean, I love the Terrifier movies. Art the Clown
was phenomenal in this.

Speaker 2 (01:59:22):
He was terrible to also the most fucked up he's
ever up. Funny.

Speaker 1 (01:59:29):
He makes me chuckle all the time every time. Well,
this whole these whole movies, just.

Speaker 2 (01:59:32):
The mall Santa scene is. Yeah. What I was like,
I went to that, I felt like we're watching I
was like, they're not going to do this.

Speaker 5 (01:59:43):
Each other, dude, We're like it kids on wrapping the
President and were like, okay, domestic terrors.

Speaker 2 (01:59:50):
Yeah, it's like if then it is like the Gritol Christmas.
But he just commits active. Yes you can.

Speaker 1 (01:59:59):
You compared clown to kind of like mister Bean, and
I think that, Yeah, it's it's it's like the the
analogies work.

Speaker 2 (02:00:07):
This movie is fucking crazy crazy. It's the opening scene is.

Speaker 5 (02:00:12):
But even like the music, the everything terofire Christmas fucking bang,
it's it's a laugh.

Speaker 2 (02:00:19):
It's it's like you can't help but laugh. You're just like,
oh my god, dude is going on. Yeah, it's so ridiculous.

Speaker 6 (02:00:26):
But even like so you see like tiktoks, did you
see any of them over Christmas? When it's like showing
my mom Grandma like.

Speaker 2 (02:00:37):
To watch.

Speaker 6 (02:00:37):
Yes, and you watch all of them because you're just like,
I need to see what like people's family things. They're
not like, they're like half the people left the Room's
parents might get.

Speaker 2 (02:00:49):
With it, but your parents would lose their minds. My
parents would be My mom immediately be like, this is
what are you putting? Yeah, they'd be yeah, he David
know that I was off to something. Sarah would call
it out to She'd be like no, no, no, She's
like less break Yeah, Chris, No, that's this.

Speaker 1 (02:01:16):
This, this is this makes you feel like you want
to make your balls hurt for a while, that scene.

Speaker 2 (02:01:23):
It was a movie. Yeah, the tube shoved down the
mom's throat. That even got me a little bit worse.
I was just like, he's macrating her hands with The
worst part is when he's killing one of the electrician
guys and she's masturbating with.

Speaker 5 (02:01:39):
The I was like, I can't.

Speaker 6 (02:01:45):
You're wonderings and I was like, is she really shoving
that up right now?

Speaker 2 (02:01:50):
I was like, whoever, Victoria, she's like a coreliner and
she just keeps getting so much more fund up looking at.
What I love about this movie is where the fuck
is this going though? Are we going to hell? And
I think we're gonna get I think we're gonna get
like a like.

Speaker 6 (02:02:08):
A we're gonna be like.

Speaker 1 (02:02:12):
In health fighting.

Speaker 2 (02:02:13):
I think it's gonna be part of that. But I
think we're gonna get some backstory. I like that.

Speaker 1 (02:02:17):
Victoria's character and then she's kind of the vehicle for
his like personality, like she talks.

Speaker 2 (02:02:25):
Yeah. So another great death the Dad on the fucking Wall.

Speaker 1 (02:02:30):
Yeah, oh yeah, so that was it, Like I almost
they almost lost me at the end because I kind
of almost felt that Art was kind of playing second
fiddle to that character, Like it was almost like she
was the main machine.

Speaker 2 (02:02:42):
Is like you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (02:02:43):
I know that's which is what's so wild that he
speaks through her. Yeah, when you figure that out, it
makes it even more fucking insane. You're like, oh, that's same,
just talking through like because there was the same thing
with the little girl and the other one.

Speaker 2 (02:02:56):
Yeah ye child, Yeah, Okay.

Speaker 6 (02:03:00):
Terrifier three, maybe four, we even find out.

Speaker 2 (02:03:04):
Terrif Yeah, I'm just curious where what do they come
up with next?

Speaker 5 (02:03:09):
The last one?

Speaker 6 (02:03:09):
Great to have a franchise that you actually enjoy Geather.

Speaker 2 (02:03:12):
They're all good.

Speaker 6 (02:03:14):
Great.

Speaker 1 (02:03:15):
I So it's it's it's incredible. It just speaks to
this year and horror again because this movie made so
much money as an unrated movie being released in theaters,
and it made millions upon millions upon billions of dollars.
Let me see if I can actually find out how
much it was. Uh, the sixth highest horror movie the
box office made fifty three point nine million dollars.

Speaker 2 (02:03:33):
Wild in that movie Art the Clown Baby.

Speaker 5 (02:03:36):
When you look at and you go, there's no chance
this is on television, let alone in theaters.

Speaker 6 (02:03:39):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:03:40):
Also also a big rumor that Art the Clown and
the Terrifier films are coming to Halloween Horror Nights next
year in Hollywood and Orlando. So we'll see if anything
out saying maybe.

Speaker 2 (02:03:52):
Yeah, maybe we can go, we can go. We'll see.

Speaker 1 (02:03:54):
I don't know, get my hopes, so maybe we'll see.

Speaker 2 (02:03:56):
All right?

Speaker 1 (02:03:56):
Number two Terrifier three for Catherine Matt what's your number two?

Speaker 2 (02:04:04):
Pascal Plante's Red Rooms.

Speaker 5 (02:04:06):
It's been a bit Yep, that's a big number two.
That would have been my number. That would have been
my number a lot earlier. But it was a late
addition because it's like I was trying to keep the name.

Speaker 2 (02:04:16):
Yeah. So this movie follows a murder trial of three
young girls who are captured, kidnapped, and brutally murdered by
this man. And it opens with a twenty five minute
long shot of a deposition in court in French Canadian.

(02:04:42):
So it's a slow start, but if you pay attention
and you listen, you're getting all the nitty gritty details
of everything that happened, and it is awful. And so
that being said, you have these two girls who are
just showing up at the trial and watching. They're obsessed

(02:05:07):
with this trial. And so one of them, the main character,
is like in on the dark Web. Now, what she
does for fun is plays online poker, and she's very
fucking good, very good at it, and so and they
play with like bitcoin and everything. So it's like there's

(02:05:28):
a lot of money at stake. And so as it
goes on, they find out that they have these taped.
This guy recorded himself on tape killing these girls. They
have two of them, they do not have the third.
And this family is at the court and they're trying to,
you know, figure out the thing of what's going on

(02:05:50):
and everything.

Speaker 1 (02:05:50):
I'm like trying to, you know, react.

Speaker 2 (02:05:53):
You can't really see him in the videos and stuff,
and it's their obsession with trying to get a hold
of that tape on the dark web, and it is
so fucked up the way that they go about doing it,
and what the main character ends up doing is the

(02:06:16):
most out of fucking control ship. Dude, Like, I was
so caught off guard, but the reason she does it, yeah,
it's just wild.

Speaker 1 (02:06:28):
It's it's like, dude, you are catch of your seat
for a movie that nothing happens, right, There's no zero
zero on screen violence. You don't see, there's no blood.
You hear the videos and those are you see.

Speaker 5 (02:06:42):
Them watching the videos, so their reactions to the videos
are just as horrifying.

Speaker 2 (02:06:45):
The sounds of the videos are awful, got wrenching, and dude,
it is the most twisted fucking movie I have seen
in a long fucking time. I'm talking martyrs, I'm talking
inside like, this is quintessential French extreme by doing the

(02:07:09):
absolute least possible, and this movie was fan fucking fantastic.
Sounds like a really heavy watch. So but like I said,
there's it's just when you realize what she does mind
and how it all plays out. It is like you're
just gonna be like, oh my god, it's like constantly watching.

Speaker 5 (02:07:33):
It's the most uncomfortable so watched, You're going to be
like they sit out, like they sit out in line
because only they leaves outside of the court side so
they can get in to see the opening statements and
all these positions in the and it's like, how fucking
twisted are you? It's like those people that loved fucking
Jeffrey Dahmer.

Speaker 2 (02:07:55):
But dude, no, but how how it all comes into
like kind of play and a third act is just
the most batshit fucking crazy ship easily that came out
this year. Okay, most terror fire can blow up little kids,
this movie has the most. This is almost this might
be worse. Most tense scene in a movie this year.

(02:08:18):
When she's playing.

Speaker 5 (02:08:19):
Poker to win enough money so she can buy the tape. Yeah,
while they're waiting outside because you're not like the dark web,
like there used to be a thing on YouTube bastill time,
but like dark web stories and like people that were
in red rooms and like he immediately like destroyed his
ib candres all that efforts because he was like, there
they know where I am.

Speaker 2 (02:08:38):
Dude, it is. It's the most I would never like.
It's don't do that, absolutely fucking horrific.

Speaker 1 (02:08:45):
Okay, so high praise, gentlemen, high praise.

Speaker 2 (02:08:49):
So you just have to get through that opening scene.
But I think it's so it's important, but it's just
very long and it's very As someone that likes to read,
you'll love this, Okay, Cat, probably not, Nona.

Speaker 5 (02:09:03):
You really have to read, like the dialogue and the
subtitles are the most that's that's your life blood.

Speaker 2 (02:09:08):
It's that arguably the most demented character in a horror
movie this year.

Speaker 1 (02:09:13):
Yeah, wow, saying something for sure any year that we
had Arthur Clown and several other defended characters. Yeah, okay,
red rooms at number two rooms, So Matthew, my number
two is fenn Alvarez's Alien Romulus. Absolute fucking banger, the
shot in the arm the Alien franchise needed, and it

(02:09:36):
made the Alien movies scary again. I believe we also
did an episode on this movie. I think I did, yes,
because we all saw it together, right, Uh no, you
guys saw it. I think I saw it after and
you saw it again with me. We did this episode
with that's why went hard on Alien. Oh yeah, alien stuff.
Oh man, I just I love the Alien franchise as
a whole. I think it kind of lost its way

(02:09:58):
a little bit, even though I do really like Prometheus
and Covenant. I I think we're gonna get more Alien
movies now obviously, but this one, I just thought everything
about it was great. Betty Alvarez was the perfect choice
to direct this movie. The practical effects were awesome. The
creature at the end, my fucking word, Holy Jesus Christ.

Speaker 5 (02:10:17):
One of the most horrifying things I've ever seen. Like
it's like slender Man mixed with like, just.

Speaker 2 (02:10:24):
Yeah, a monster.

Speaker 1 (02:10:26):
And if you see the person that they they actually got,
I think it's like the tallest guy in the world.
The guy from it follows, Oh okay, I didn't know that. Yeah, yeah,
So it's the fact that they actually there's a guy
that actually is that tall and that creepy looking. Then
they just did him up in practical effects and that's
the creature. It's fucking insane. I thought the acting and
this was great, especially David Johnson. That guy believe that

(02:10:48):
believe his name as Andy the Android.

Speaker 2 (02:10:50):
I think it was a John J.

Speaker 5 (02:10:55):
O N S. S.

Speaker 12 (02:10:56):
O N.

Speaker 1 (02:10:57):
He was awesome as the Android character. But I thought,
you know, there was a good mix between you know,
some world building stuff and some really effective scarce, really
effective gore. It was just an awesome alien movie and
that's exactly what I was looking for. I love the
Alien franchise. In this is another movie that had a
lot of height, and it lived up to it. For me,
love this movie, absolutely loved it.

Speaker 5 (02:11:14):
Kaye Spainey was really good to Keay spain was great.

Speaker 2 (02:11:17):
She's good. I've seen her a couple of things.

Speaker 5 (02:11:19):
She was very good.

Speaker 2 (02:11:21):
She was also in a Civil War, right, I think
Civil War That movie was fine, but she was excellent. Okay, dude.

Speaker 5 (02:11:29):
The action scenes, yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:11:31):
The face huggers all storming, Oh yeah, that was that
was holy.

Speaker 6 (02:11:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:11:37):
And then when they're in that room and they're like
they can feel them and they're trying to move slowkey.

Speaker 1 (02:11:41):
Yes, and they're all just like sitting there with giant
spiders like on the like all over the place. That
was fucking nuts. The shootout with zero gravity unbelievable. The elevator, yeah,
scene phenomenal.

Speaker 2 (02:11:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:11:54):
I mean I know they stole a lot from the
other ones like they paint homage to it. But the movie, yes,
like the just the whole premise is that's what I
need to rewatch because I only watched.

Speaker 2 (02:12:03):
I only say that once.

Speaker 1 (02:12:05):
I got to rewatch.

Speaker 2 (02:12:07):
So yeah, Alien Ronmuls was number two for me. That
was another one that I thought could end up at
number one, given the.

Speaker 1 (02:12:13):
We all have the same number one. No Well, Andrew
number one, number.

Speaker 5 (02:12:19):
One, Damian McCarthy oddity Wow, number one and Well. When
I saw that movie, I said, after I said, I go,
this movie generally genuinely, genuinely scared. Some of the best
scares in a movie. Like the general premise of this
movie is very simple. It's like a husband and wife
and they're like redoing their dream home. He's a doctor

(02:12:42):
and she's at home a lot. And like opening the movie,
she gets murdered by some like escape patient from his hospital.
Very cool, very freaky. That guy's freaky. The whole that
house is fucking very creepy, very British, very weird. It's Irish, Irish, Irish, Yeah,
but I think it's like I think there Istish Scottish. Maybe,
well it's Irish, but I think they're in Scotlar Okay

(02:13:02):
either way, fantastic job by the Twins.

Speaker 2 (02:13:07):
What's her name?

Speaker 5 (02:13:07):
Carolyn Racken. She plays Darcy and Danny, the two twins.
So one of them owns, well, one of them was
murdered yep. The other one owns like an out of
these shop, Like there's a bunch of weird fucking ship.
She's also like some sort of weird psychic. She can
see stuff and it's just live like long mistery, like
kind of like a mystery story. She just shows up

(02:13:29):
out of nowhere, and then you got this weird like
token or whatever or what's the like, yeah, like a
tote him to Yeah, who just shows up? But like
everything that's like he's like this weird big fucking wooden
puppet fuck things.

Speaker 2 (02:13:46):
Just wandering around the house fucking weird.

Speaker 5 (02:13:49):
And she's there like trying to like just reconnect with
her sister's husband, and really that's not why she's there.

Speaker 1 (02:13:59):
She figures along the way like what actually happened and
this another wild just like weird story, like just this
is like another movie with a great twist.

Speaker 2 (02:14:08):
Great twists.

Speaker 5 (02:14:09):
Yeah, end the movie scary, very scary, but like just
seeing that weird thing move around and like it's just
really it's just such a bizarre story that takes place
literally and pretty much one spot. It's like the hospital
in that house.

Speaker 2 (02:14:27):
Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 5 (02:14:28):
And there's only like two people on seen it once.
There's nothing. It's a really basic movie, but it's so
well done, so fucking it's general. It's just terrifying. It's
dread upon dread And then I thought it was scary
for a weird movie.

Speaker 1 (02:14:43):
Absolutely scary, very scary movie. I'm like number one, I'm
I'm very surprised it was.

Speaker 5 (02:14:50):
It had been lingering there for a long time throughout
the year. After I watched that movie, I was like,
this movie is so fucking weird and just so well done,
and like it it I was, I was scared.

Speaker 2 (02:14:59):
I was like if I'm and that like wooden thing is.
I had the the bell hop at the end was
fucking laugh. That was almost like really we're doing this
last thing, but like the writers and directors are like
laughing in your face, like like he's not gonna be

(02:15:20):
right there, and you're like, oh, that's really being still
It's still. Yeah, it was great, but that was it
was more like just like the ominence.

Speaker 1 (02:15:32):
Ominousness. Nice all right, Andrews. Number one is by another
one on Shutter by the way, I think we mentioned
that earlier, but banger for Shutter Catherine entering numero.

Speaker 6 (02:15:48):
Twisters Twister. Yeah, that's gonna be my pick for number one.

Speaker 2 (02:15:54):
I didn't see it.

Speaker 5 (02:15:54):
Sorry, you didn't see it.

Speaker 6 (02:15:56):
You didn't see it? Why wouldn't You didn't see it either?
Are you serious? What's the matter with you?

Speaker 2 (02:16:02):
Guys?

Speaker 6 (02:16:02):
You watched all these other porn films.

Speaker 1 (02:16:04):
You a girl watched Twisters.

Speaker 2 (02:16:08):
I thought Twisters was really good. I took Cat on
a date.

Speaker 1 (02:16:12):
We got a babysitter to go see, go to dinner,
and then we went to go see Twister.

Speaker 2 (02:16:15):
You wouldn't have went by yourself? Oh I wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (02:16:17):
I probably would have seen it, didn't know, didn't make your.

Speaker 2 (02:16:21):
U didn't even even render a thought in your mind.

Speaker 1 (02:16:25):
I gave it a three and a half on letter
Box out of five.

Speaker 2 (02:16:27):
I thought it was good. It's not horrible. It's it's
it's a horror movie.

Speaker 1 (02:16:32):
It's it's cat scary, scary weather stuff. Yeah, but it's
another one of those sequels where they're essentially.

Speaker 6 (02:16:39):
Well, they're redoing.

Speaker 2 (02:16:40):
Yeah, they're redoing.

Speaker 1 (02:16:42):
Yeah, they're redoing Twister, but with like new technically.

Speaker 6 (02:16:45):
New technology, their younger crowd.

Speaker 2 (02:16:47):
They're kind of a good, fucking weird little guinea pig thing.

Speaker 6 (02:16:52):
He looks kind of like a squirrel.

Speaker 2 (02:16:54):
Yeah, he looks like.

Speaker 6 (02:16:56):
I'm like, I'm like, I look at him and I remember, like, oh,
it's this hot guy.

Speaker 1 (02:16:59):
What I was a Maverick topic.

Speaker 6 (02:17:00):
He looks fake. He doesn't look like a real.

Speaker 2 (02:17:05):
Glen pal He's an AI generated version.

Speaker 6 (02:17:07):
I mean, he's handsome, but he's supposed to be handsome,
because that's what I'm seeing. But he said Julian Edelman, looking,
she's like way too much. You know, It's just I
don't know if he's too much.

Speaker 1 (02:17:21):
He looks like he has extray.

Speaker 2 (02:17:23):
But he's good.

Speaker 6 (02:17:24):
He's good. He's good in his role in this movie.
Everyone was awesome. I thought it was great. I was
very excited.

Speaker 10 (02:17:31):
I love that they're redoing all these old movies, Like
I can't wait for Billy Madison too.

Speaker 1 (02:17:37):
Gilmore too?

Speaker 2 (02:17:38):
Sorry are they doing a Billy Madison Amazing? Like Ronnie
Dangerfield just post shows up. He's like back to school?
You know what?

Speaker 6 (02:17:58):
H sean that because we just patented that idea.

Speaker 12 (02:18:02):
There you go.

Speaker 6 (02:18:04):
Just wrote a screenplay, Billy Madison.

Speaker 1 (02:18:06):
To so we have to bring Rodney Dangerfield back from
the dead.

Speaker 2 (02:18:10):
You wouldn't make anybody, now bring him, James. You can
take anybody back and make anything.

Speaker 6 (02:18:15):
Well, Elvis is not dead. As I went down the
TikTok rabbit holes Kenny Rogers or whatever, Yes, yes he is,
he's someone, He's someone. But yes, no, Elvis is not dead.
I'll watch these TikTok Yes, but let's continue. Twisters was

(02:18:36):
my number one.

Speaker 1 (02:18:36):
I respect, I respect your commitment to being you, my friends.
That was the most CAT number one pick of all time.
I think it was winning one last year and now
it's Twisters the best.

Speaker 6 (02:18:46):
Movie because it was the best movie that I saw.

Speaker 10 (02:18:48):
True to You very much, True to You awesome. I
loved it every minute of it. Okay, and I'd watched
it again.

Speaker 2 (02:18:55):
Twisters.

Speaker 1 (02:18:56):
There's more of them Number one for CAT. I think
it's streaming now somewhere.

Speaker 6 (02:19:01):
Definitely.

Speaker 5 (02:19:01):
Yeah, really good, fre Twisters.

Speaker 1 (02:19:04):
Frito Twist, Oh yeah, the honey Bar one really good. Sorry, Well,
I think Matt and I have the same number one film, Matthew.

Speaker 2 (02:19:12):
What's your number one? Forego is the substance.

Speaker 1 (02:19:14):
Yep, bang not surprising buddy's buddy, I told you, yeah, banger.

Speaker 2 (02:19:20):
Yeah, I don't know how you pronounce your name.

Speaker 1 (02:19:21):
Coralie f for Fargo, forego, okay, French French woman, Yeah, Faberge,
Breeze for breeze. I fucking loved this movie.

Speaker 6 (02:19:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:19:37):
I watched it three times three.

Speaker 1 (02:19:40):
I wow, that's that's what I should have That was
movies movie.

Speaker 2 (02:19:43):
Yeah, the movie. I watched it on movie once, rented
it when it was five dollars, and then watched it
twice in forty eight hours.

Speaker 1 (02:19:51):
Damn son, that's why it's number one.

Speaker 2 (02:19:54):
This I feel like I needed to make sure because
Red Rooms was number one and I watched that twice
in twenty four hours, and I was like, I gotta
give this substance another one I need to make.

Speaker 1 (02:20:05):
I was like, I was like, exact to make what's yeah, cat,
this is a movie you need to see.

Speaker 2 (02:20:11):
I know, yeah, for sure.

Speaker 1 (02:20:12):
I comin Sarah that she should watch it, and she
agreed to watch if. It is absolutely disgusting, but it
is awesome. It is so good. It's horrific. Yeah, dude,
it is horrific. And it's also like the fact that
it's directed by a woman. I found to be so
interesting because it is shot the male. But yeah, it

(02:20:34):
is shot like the horniest guy in the world.

Speaker 2 (02:20:36):
Made this movie.

Speaker 5 (02:20:37):
But also so just so we're clear, put it this way,
whether or not it's a woman in that situation or
a man in that situation, it's very easy for men
to be like I wouldn't. But if you were given
the option, like film a movie like No, No, No,
to take a little to sacrifice yourself to be the
better version of you the most, you know, I could
just be a big boss man ripped out in my mind,

(02:20:59):
a Swarzenegger type. Obviously I'm gonna do that. Yeah, I'm
going above that. But would I let it carry on
to that point? That's what's interesting about it. Yeah, this movie,
to me was absolutely the best movie of the year
until the last twenty minutes fucking ruined it.

Speaker 2 (02:21:14):
Why this movie was so and this movie was so
fucking just like over the top, Like when she comes
out looking like fucking don't.

Speaker 5 (02:21:25):
Hump back him day, I'm like, what are we doing
with her face taped to her front?

Speaker 1 (02:21:32):
But it was just it was it took it from
like highbrow.

Speaker 2 (02:21:36):
It like plays on how tone death Hollywood and consumer
like just people that watch that kind of ship are Yeah,
it was just so wild and the lack of people.
I loved her, starved to the star at the end,
it was fantastic. Well, it's like the lack of people
that are willing to be like this person looks bad

(02:21:57):
because they don't want to like be like offensive. Like
it's like, look at like Ariana Grande. You're like, dude,
like we all know something, like she's got something wrong.
Eat a cheeseburger or like you know what I mean.
But it's just like something's wrong. And it's like you
read the comments and like on social media and people
are like there's still people that are like, look, how
miserable you are that you're commenting on a woman's body.

Speaker 1 (02:22:18):
It's like, cheese looks unhealthy. I'm just trying to help
her out.

Speaker 2 (02:22:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:22:21):
So the basic the basic premise for this, Yeah, yeah,
you do your mo So the basic prence for this
is that Demi Moore is playing an aging actress in
Hollywood that has her own fitness show and on her
is it her what's what?

Speaker 2 (02:22:35):
Say? What her birthday is?

Speaker 6 (02:22:37):
I don't want to know.

Speaker 5 (02:22:40):
She's basically like like like your dog and the guys
like your spine looks like it's beautiful for this injection.

Speaker 1 (02:22:49):
No, no, she well, she's she's a she does a
fitness show and she gets fired from the fitness show.
Who plays an all time scumbayres great, there's then like
this is like this is just this, this is within
the first ten minutes of the movie. And essentially she
gets offered the opportunity to take this thing called what
they're calling the substance that will transform you into a

(02:23:10):
better version of yourself. And she is depressed because she's
an aging actress in Hollywood.

Speaker 2 (02:23:14):
She lost her job and she's.

Speaker 1 (02:23:15):
Kind of willing to do anything to get her job back.
And what the substance does to her is insane. And
there are rules that you have to abide by when
you take the substance, and if you don't follow those rules,
just bad shit can happen, and bad shit does happen.
This I think.

Speaker 2 (02:23:34):
You basically build a second body out of the most
beautiful part of you, birth.

Speaker 5 (02:23:38):
Yourself at its best. Yeah, and which was that I
wasn't even expecting that. Finos like oh.

Speaker 1 (02:23:45):
Gross, yeah, that.

Speaker 2 (02:23:49):
Zippery. This is like.

Speaker 1 (02:23:53):
So I mean, I think probably one of my favorite
body horror movies. This is meet a lot coming from me.
I hold this up there within the Body hard gen
with like David Cronenberg to the Fly. I think it
is as effective the thing. Yeah, it's like dude, wild
and it is just it's so gory, there's so much nudity.
It's fucking an awesome movie. It's like you, you want

(02:24:16):
to know what's going on the whole time in the ending, dude.

Speaker 2 (02:24:19):
The middle part of the movie to me was almost
my favorite, Yeah, because you're really watching it all unravel
and you're like, dude, when Margareta.

Speaker 5 (02:24:27):
Was on the couch and that guy like bang yeah,
and you can start to.

Speaker 1 (02:24:34):
Chris Well and when the middle of the movie when
she stays in her other self for way too long,
and you know something, it's gonna something's gonna hit shit,
It's gonna hit the fans. So I don't want to
say any more than that, because I know Kat has
not seen it yet, and there might be a lot
of people out there that have not seen this movie yet.
It is it was kind of hard to find for
a while, but you could. You can pay to rent
it down r you.

Speaker 17 (02:24:54):
Said, yeah, it's so well, absolutely looking like a fucking
falcon that was like exposed to radiation.

Speaker 2 (02:25:01):
But it's it's so it's so disturbing, dude. So all
it is is just the hell bent desire to just
be beautiful and like acknowledge, yeah, all costs. And so
the other thing I have to say is that this
movie borrows directly from two movies, and they're The Shining

(02:25:22):
by Stanley Kubrick and Requiem for a Dream by Darren
Aaron Yea. They are directly pulled from that. And what
I was saying earlier is Demi Moore channels her inner
Sarah goldfal It's that scene where she's like just keeps
cooking fucking.

Speaker 1 (02:25:38):
Food and she's just going nuts.

Speaker 2 (02:25:40):
Her hair is gray, and like every time, like Margaret
Qualley keeps stealing because you have to switch back every week,
and she keeps stealing time, literally stealing time from her
her life. Yeah, you're trying to rotten flesh. Yeah, and dude,
it is just so badshit crazy. But like the way
it's shot, the way you get those like the shy
lens views of everything, You're like, dude, this is literally

(02:26:03):
like I was like, this is like exactly like the
storyline of Sarah Gould, far from requiem for for dream
and her just hell and desire to just be fit
and get on TV and the fact that like anybody,
any person would do this, they wouldn't.

Speaker 5 (02:26:20):
You can't be like, I can't believe you didn't like
the last twenty and so it was it was very
end he was fine with sun Star cool, but like
it just like you got It was almost like it
was almost like supposed to move a toxic eventure kid,
but you're like, you love Like Society. I love those movies,
but like this just was like it felt forced. It

(02:26:42):
felt like it didn't need to do this. To me,
it was like it was almost like the end of
Like Mother, Like it was like way over the it
is way over the top. But to me, I was like, Wow,
I respected a leap.

Speaker 2 (02:26:55):
I respect it, But to me, it didn't it just
and normally I love that for her to like two
and a half hour movie, for her to play all
this out to lead up to that, I was like, well,
based on her back, the designs, she throws up the
tit when she comes out of.

Speaker 5 (02:27:17):
The when she comes out of the elevator and she
got her face. It's like a piece of baby. I
was like, what that's it was phenomenal and you laugh.
I did laugh at it, and I thought it fit.
But it could have I think it could have been.
It went from being like a ten out of ten. Yeah,
this was my number seven.

Speaker 2 (02:27:39):
Ok. It went from being the best WEA I've ever
seen to like very very good. Yeah, this is brilliant.
I'm so happy that mean Moore got.

Speaker 1 (02:27:49):
The fact that this movie contains the things that it
does and it's being nominated for major awards and winning awards.
I think it's a is outrageous, is well deserved? Is
like the she's like the new Margaret Robbie of like Wolf.

Speaker 2 (02:28:06):
Yeah she is just.

Speaker 1 (02:28:09):
Yeah, she is gorgeous in this movie. Yeah it's uh again,
it's it's shot like the horniest it's shot. It's it's
not shot by the horniest man alive.

Speaker 2 (02:28:18):
It's not even her like being like gratuitously shown like
naked or anything like that.

Speaker 1 (02:28:22):
It's just her just in general, Like she's just beautiful.

Speaker 2 (02:28:26):
Yeah. So the substance number one for me and Matt,
I think, well, well, well deserveed. But smirt you for that. Okay, cool.

Speaker 1 (02:28:35):
Uh, I know we're getting up against it time wise. Here.

already talked about. Yeah, first Noman Cuckoo, the Vordillac loop track.

Speaker 2 (02:28:59):

first Omen and then smile too. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:29:05):
I was going to just bring up Immaculate and in
VHS beyond as well, which I think VHS continues to
put out good movies, and there's another one of those
coming out next year, VHS eight coming to Shutter should
be really cool.

Speaker 2 (02:29:14):

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
