Episode 4: Hiding in Plain Sight

This place will whisk you back to the future with its roaring 20’s feel. Whether the wooden décor, bar seating, and tall tables downstairs or the sofas and comfy chairs upstairs, Hiding in Plain Sight is filled with charm and character. It’s located near Oosterdok and open ‘til 3AM on the weekends. Great for hanging out late with friends after dinner or if you’re on a date. The aromas coming out of this place will have you following your nose all the way to the bar where you’ll find, what looks like, an alcohol laboratory. Loads of spirits, homemade syrups, herbs and other ingredients in jars and shakers line the bar.You’ll want to get there early or call ahead and make a reservation because it gets a little busy on the weekend. House rule, you have to have a seat to be served. Once seated you’re offered water, complimentary olives and nuts to go with your cocktail. If you’re in search of a trendy, stylish crowd, this is the place you want to go for cocktails! The staff makes you feel like they have known you for ages which can have a down side once you get your tab. The drinks can be a bit pricey but they are worth every penny. You can order from the menu or one of their talented bartenders can make you their own creation or create something just for you. You can have something as simple as a Whisky Sour or as crazy as a Walking Dead which, incidentally, is served in a skull glass mug with a grapefruit on top. The grapefruit is sprayed with a flammable powder that is lit right at your table. Drinking doesn’t get any better than this!
