in our co host for tonight show, longtime Atlanta sports fan,
past sports writer, as I mentioned last week, and the
current Atlanta resident. His name is Jordan Jackson. Jordan, how
(02:04):
you doing tonight, sir?

Speaker 5 (02:10):
Glad to be on Around the atl on Sports Visions
ninety two point one f them, and I'm just excited
to get into talking about the good.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
And the bad of what is Atlanta and Georgia sports.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Sir.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
I heard you there, man, So again, if you're watching
the live stream, you're cheating a little bit. IMT and
Worldwide Radio on YouTube. You know, we usually do it
to our show. We talked Falcons, Braves, Hawks and United
Dream and the Vibe. We taught college sports Uga Georgia, Tech,
Georgia State, Clark Atlanta, other HBCUs in the state. But
now we're going to also talk about high school sports
(02:45):
and also sports in Columbus Georgia with the Columbus Lions,
the River Dragons, the Klingstones, Columbus State University, and so
on and so forth. Tonight, in particular, though, we're going
to do another thirty minute episode on Sports Visions ninety
two to one, and also for the next few weeks
and tonight specifically, we're going to talk college football in Georgia,
the Atlanta Hawks, and we're going to include some high
(03:06):
school in football and basketball. So let's get started. So
with college football, we kind of mentioned this last week
in regards to the University of Georgia not making the
college National Championship obviously, and this was following a year
where they got snubbed to give themselves a chance to
three p hint, hint, right, and after winning back to
(03:30):
back national championship games, and we know how this season
ended with bet getting hurt. We got eliminated from the playoffs.
Will Kirby be able to find a quarterback for twenty
twenty five? Well, we have enough on offense and defense
to compete, Jordan. How long do you think it would
be before Georgia gets back to the National Championship Game,
especially with the official playoffs now being here.
Speaker 5 (03:54):
Well, I'll say it could be as soon as the
next season. Did Georgia Bulldogs get back to the National
Championship Game. They have the number two overall recruiting class
coming in and they're just absolutely loaded had all positions,
especially on the defensive side of the football. One of
the issues Georgia had his past season was a lack
(04:15):
of playmaking at the receiver. Of the past catcher positions,
we missed Bruck Bowers and lab McConkey, who both had
great rookie seams in the NFL big time. But Kevin
spart and crew have done everything they can to try
to rectify that problem.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
They have brought in.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
Several transfer players into the portal, including wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Zacharayah Branch out of UFC.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
Also, his brother who plays safety, is coming with them,
and one of the big recruit coming in from a
freshman perspective is Taylan Taylor, a wide receiver out of Geneva, Illinois.
They also got transfer wide receiver out of Texas Tech,
a big six foot six kid by the name Noah Thomas,
(05:04):
six foot six, two hundred pounds. So Juddans should be
much better in that area, which I feel it was
a big It was a big part of the problem
because what would happen is Carson Becker Baby's beautiful passes.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Guys would drop the ball and then he would get frustrated.
One ball twig.
Speaker 6 (05:20):
Note.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
As far as quarterback goes, I was quite pleased with
Gonna Stock this play in the bowl game.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
I just thought we didn't help him out.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
We thun with the ball too much, We dropped passes,
and we gave him a kick return. Otherwise we could
have very well deet know the game and advanced at
the college football playoffs.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Sir well, I'm encouraged by the players that are coming,
and of course with coach Kirby, we should be straight.
But it's just disappointing how this season ended. At the
end of the day. Now Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech, they
went three to nine in twenty twenty one. Five and
seven in twenty twenty two, seven and six in both
twenty twenty three. In twenty twenty four, they did make
(05:57):
a ball game last year they lost to Vanderbilt close
game thirty five, twenty seven. Now, I know we usually
don't talk yellow jacket jackets on this side of the spectrum,
but will there be a time where Georgia Tech can
get to be a threat in the ACC again on
a regular basis?
Speaker 5 (06:12):
Jordan, Well, I'll be honest with everybody, and all of
our loyal listeners know this. I am a Georgia Bulldogs fan,
grew up bunch of the Dogs with the TV on
mute and listening to Larry Munson do the commentary. But
Jordia Tech is on the come up. The quarterback Haynes
King is an absolute baller. They came Georgia all they
(06:35):
could handle in after this past year with the Bulldogs
finally coming out on top after eight overtimes, and you know,
I just think it's best for the rival when both
football teams are good.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
And one thing I love about this.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
Rivalry is the fact that you have a Georgia Bulldog player,
Kirby Smart coaching his ALM. A lot of the Bulldogs,
and you also have a you have to take player
Bret Keith coaching his all out of the Yellow Jackets.
So I just think that really does add something to
the robbery, sir.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
That's definitely a unique point, definitely not lost among the fans.
I bet you. Georgia State University, they did not have
a good year three and nine, and this is after
having a seven and six record the previous year. But
this was the first season for Columbus's own Georgia former
of Georgia Bulldog actually del McGee who has been coaching
(07:30):
for the Bulldogs as running backs coach and was there
for back to back national championships right and in eight seasons,
he had some of the best running backs in college
including Nick Chubb, Sony Michelle, DeAndre Swift, Elijah Holyfield, Zamir White,
James Cook, we go on and on. He was also
named National Recruiter of the Year in twenty eighteen with
(07:52):
the number one class. And as a head coach in
Columbus Georgia, he coached the Carver Tigers and seventh straight
seasons he led them to ten wins a year and
he also won the title in two thousand and seven.
He also went to my high school, Kendrick, so I
would give him time to build that program up from
the bottom, and I think they're gonna do very well
(08:13):
in that Sun Belt Conference. Jordan, do you have some
of the HBCU schools in Georgia that you can talk
about a little bit?
Speaker 5 (08:21):
God, yes, sir, I do, just real quick to add though, Yeah,
begin is one of the absolute best recruiters to ever
come through Athens, and I do think he will build
that program up. And they did beat Vanderbilt, who beat
Alabama and beat Jordana Tech. So I'm just saying, but yes, sir.
One of the schools I'm looking forward to, of course
is my school that I went to, the all but
(08:43):
the State Golden Rams. They were six or four last
season with a conference regular six and two, had some
big wins. What their biggest one was a huge blowout
victory over Warhouse College. One of our a lot of
HBCUs and probably there were lost was to Valdosta State,
another Georgia school that's always has a very good football program.
(09:06):
We also have the Clark Atlanta Panthers who have done
who have done very well. I have one of the
best seasons in quite some time at seven, three and one,
six and two in the conference. And they did beat
my team's rival, the Fort Valley State University wildcasts forty.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Five forty two for one of their bigger wins.
Speaker 5 (09:29):
And also they had a huge win at Bethune Cookman
University thirty eight thirty seven. Also, we have Morehouse College
who had a tough season, finished at one and nine,
one and seven in the conference. But they have some
facility of grades. By the way, all of the state
did beat them fifty two to six. They have some
(09:51):
upgraded facilities.
Speaker 6 (09:52):
They have a new field.
Speaker 5 (09:54):
Author Blank, the facus owner has never contributed to new
fields for Woehouses well as Clark and so I haven't
been a facilities always helps you here recruiting and so
hopefully for they'll say that will help them start to
getting ship turned around.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
Sir, Well twenty twenty five, it looks like it's gonna
be a big year for everybody there, and we will
look forward to watching some of their games later on
this year. Let's go ahead and transition to some professional sports.
Now we're going to talk some Atlanta Hawks. Now we
know right now JJ is hurt again, Zach is just
coming back from being hurt, but he was gone for
(10:30):
a while. Hunter has been out for a while, and
then also he's been in a shooting slump. Bogie he's
been in a shooting slump. Trey has had some bad
turnover games lately. Nothing is going right, but yet we
haven't had any moves from the front office. And at
twenty two and twenty three, technically twenty twenty two and
twenty four right now, the Hawks still have a better
(10:51):
record than this time last year, where there were basically
eight games under five hundred and no shot at anything. However,
when full strength, the Hawks has shown that can be
any of the teams in the East. So will the
organization really waste another season? Just because I want to
note that Raptors game a little bit. Trey had four
sists in that game, but thirteen of his passes two
(11:15):
players went for zero points. We left thirty four points
on the board from wide open layups, wide open jumpers,
a lot of those unfortunately from Bogie, and twenty one
of those points were in the fourth quarter alone. So
don't you think that score would have been a little
bit different if the wide open threes were hit, the
wide open dunks, the wide open alley ups, the floaters
(11:36):
and everything that happened in that fourth quarter, just that
fourth quarter alone. And mind you, Trey Young leaves the
entire NBA and potential assists a game at twenty one.
There's a reason for that, okay. And again, he did
have some bad passes in that game. He said he
had some just terrible just brain freezes or whatnot. But
some of those passes were actually in the hands of
(11:58):
players and they just did something else and they attributed
that to Trey. I don't really like that, but it
is what it is. But he did have some bad
turnovers in that game. Now, in that Raptors game, Nats
was two of ten from the field, Bogie two of
twelve to six from three. Garrison won of five from three.
Trey was one of four from three to five to twelve.
(12:18):
For the game, Hawks gave up fifty four points in
the paint and twenty fast break points, even though both
teams turned the ball over twenty times. You see there
was a difference there right now. On the positive side,
VI had a better game twenty points, seven assists, three steals,
and two blocks. O'congrew had another good game nineteen points,
eight boards, five domes, four steals, and Dyson had thirteen points,
(12:41):
six domes and five steals. But again, can we make
a move to win or is it all just a
waste of time? Jordan? If Trey keeps passing the ball
and not and we can't hit those shots, are we
supposed to be cool with that? What can change? Give
me what you think, Jordan, Well, I love the fact.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
That Trade comes out and tries to get his teammates involved,
and I fact that's the way to go early in games.
But if it's a situation where guys just our ice
cold or just don't seem to have the energy, I
would like to see Trey has sert himself a little
bit more and take over offensively. Unfortunately, he just had
his streak of over two hundred games with five or
(13:23):
more assists come to an end recently, so there's no
pressure to keep that streak going. Obviously, he's gonna pass
the ball anyway, that's what he.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
Loves to do most.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
But if that's a game where he needs to step
up and take more shots and score thirty forty fifty points,
I'd like to see him do whatever's needed for us
to win.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
We know he's capable of doing that. As far as
moves goes, there's hurting some moves out there that couldn't
be made.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
Shout out to Brother to the Knight, Roy who suggested
after the Olympics that we should have traded bog Bogdanovich.
I agree with him at the time, he had pete
trade value at the time with as well as he
played in the Olympics, and unfortunately he just has it.
He seems like he left, he left all he had
on the floor for his country and doesn't have a
(14:10):
lot enough to help the Howks. And so I think
the Hawks need to be aggressive. I think they need
to make more moves. Certainly, we need more depth, and
we just need more consistency overall from the top to
the bottom of the roster. And so though I've been
impressed with the improving on defense, namely because of Dyce
(14:31):
and Daniels being able to guard the best guy that
allowing everyone else to slot and guard the matchup that's
better for them, I do think we need to add
to this team now.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Granted, I will admit it's hard to win without your.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
Second best player Jaylen.
Speaker 5 (14:47):
Johnson there he has been hurt, but a team like
Toronto who does has only won.
Speaker 6 (14:52):
Twelve games this season.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
You think you should be able to beat them even
without your second best player, sir.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
So for those and again thanks for everyone who's listening
on Sports Visions ninety two to one FM. If he
watched a live stream of Around the atl last year
on the IMT and Worldwide Radio YouTube page. You know
that I've done full game reviews of several Hawks games,
and you know I started showing, actually how many points
we were leaving on the floor from wide open dunks,
(15:21):
layups and missshots generated from passes from Trey Okay, we're
leaving twenty five to forty points a game sometimes, guys.
And that's a lot that changes your game total, your
game win loss totals right there, right, And today, Trey
Young has only had twelve games where he shot the
ball twenty times or more. So, just like Jordy mentioned,
(15:42):
he's definitely capable of doing it. He just hasn't been
because he's been passing the ball thirty times a night
or more sometimes, right, I want the Hawks to get
Vujevich and Malcolm Broadnan. Vujovich is a twenty to ten
player who shoots forty percent from three. His defensive rating
is one thirteen, so he can't be that bad on defense,
and again his offense will make up for that. Right
(16:04):
got o on the bench back him up. I think
we'd be a force right there. Brodden gives you fourteen
and four every night, four assists, and he get hit
thirty eight percent career from three. So not only can
he get you assists and get you boys a game,
because he also gives you four boys a game, he
can hit jumpers when you need, so when trade comes
off the floor, you have continuity of offense at that point.
(16:26):
But again Jordan mentioned, we haven't been consistent all season.
We've had too many games where we got three starters
who don't even score double digits. That's not good. And
you only have like Trey having twenty and JJ having twenty,
or Trey having twenty and the Hunter having twenty, and
that's just not been enough. This year, the Hawks are
scoring one to sixteen a game and giving up one
hundred and eighteen point nine a game, so basically one
(16:48):
hundred and nineteen we either have to score a few
more points or give up less. By the way, one
last note about that Raptors game that we lost against
a team that doesn't have any wins barely. Dyson gave
up fourteen points in that game, Vin gave up twenty one,
Okongu gave up nine, Garrison thirteen, Roddy three, Bogie seven,
(17:09):
Trey six. That's fourteen, and Clint four. Did Trey Young
give up more points than everybody in that game?
Speaker 1 (17:15):
No he didn't.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
So again that narrative that Trey Young is the reason
on the defensive side again continues to not be true.
Bouche had twenty three points off the bench. Who's guarding him?
Because Barnes had twenty four and Barratt had twenty three
and Trey wasn't guarding neither of those guys, unfortunately for
some people out there right now. Again, sometimes you give
up points because of who you're guarding, and sometimes you
(17:40):
give up points per how many minutes you have on
the floor, So keep that in mind too. Sometimes it's
just a matchup thing. But again, we need to do something.
We're past that point of no return. Really, we can't
just let this team just kind of go into nothingness
again and waste another year of talent.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
Agreed, Jordan, absolutely, absolutely, and ultimately I think the guy
who's has the biggest audition right now is on Jacka Congo.
He started these last five games. Unfortunately we've lost our five.
That's certainly not his fault that we've lost all the games.
But I think we're kind of set long term at
(18:18):
point guard obviously, at shooting guard with Dyson, that's small
for with either Richa Shane and DeAndre Hunter, at power
for with Jaylan Johnson. And the only question is are
we sat long term at center with the Congo or
do we be the look elsewhere to solidify that position
long term?
Speaker 1 (18:36):
And only time will tells.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
So as we transition on Sports Visions ninety two to
one FL, we're gonna start talking about some high school
sports in Columbus Georgia. The Carver Tigers, after a seventeen
year span since winning their last championship, won the Class
two A state championship with a fifty two to fourteen
win over the Burke County Bears. I mentioned Harvard earlier
with Delle McGee. He was the coach at the time
(19:00):
the last time they won the championship, so congratulations. They
actually have a championship block party scheduled on February first,
from twelve to four donation entry. By the way, visit
the Carver High the Carver High School Facebook page for
more information on it. But again, congratulations to them. Got
a couple of high school basketball scores by the way
(19:21):
program Note, I'm gonna go to the actual schools to
get some of these scores because on the websites that
are floating around, they're not updating the scores as quickly
as I would like, So be in tune with that.
Over the next couple of weeks, Columbus Highs destroyed Hardaway
sixty to thirty one. Recently, the Kendrick Cherokees wallop Jordan
(19:41):
High School seventy seven to forty two. I'm always happy
when my alma mater beat somebody in basketball. Carver beat
Shaw seventy seven to forty two. Jordan. I gotta get
used to these scores. Man Spencer was beat by Wesley
eighty six to fifty three on the road, and North
Side High School was be in ninety to fifty six
by the Jonesboro Cardinals. Now for the ladies, Columbus High
(20:05):
lost to Hardaway eighty one to forty two. Shaw loses
the Carver seventy two to fifty five. Spencer lost a
Sumter County in a close one forty four to thirty eight,
and Hardaway beat Marietta sixty seven to fifty one. Jordan,
do you have any scores that you might want to
add to that?
Speaker 5 (20:22):
Absolutely and all least chorus it would be from yesterday
South forsythe sixty four forsythe Central sixty South Gwynette sixty.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
One, Newton fifty nine. The close game there.
Speaker 5 (20:36):
You also had Rayburn Rayburn County ninety one, Elbett County
sixty four, chelul La Falls fifty nine, George Walton Academy
forty two, Brooklyn School.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
Fifty three, Thomasville forty six.
Speaker 5 (20:52):
Another score there, North Cobb Christian seventy three, Ringo fifty one,
as well as Mill.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Creek fifty six, Bequla fifty four, uh Man.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
So those are some of the Atlanta area scores on
what board for you you Ford sixty three, Central Gwennett
fifty one. So those are some of the metro Atlanta
area scores from the all four scores. In this case,
I will get bored to the lady scorers from Atlanta
as we move along in the weeks of around the
EGL Home Sports Vision ninety two point onefl.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Appreciate that, Jordan So another transition in the show, Hitting
it Quick here, Hitting It Quick Atlanta Vibe. They win again,
this time three to one against the Vegas Thrill. They
are currently three and two so far to start the season.
Lea ed Men, last year's MVP of the Pro Volleyball Federation,
led the team with twenty points and had three aces.
Their next match is January thirtieth against the San Diego Mojo.
(21:54):
That's an interesting name, Fyi. You can actually watch the
live stream of games on the Pro Volleyball Federal YouTube
page and that's at Real pro Vias and Victor Beas
and Boys so Real pro VB and you can watch
all of their games. The Columbus River Dragons they played again.
They played the Athens Lobsters. They lost one to zero
(22:17):
in a shootout. Believe it or not, Sammy Bernard had
thirty one says, but it wasn't enough because the goaltender
for the Lobsters, Rosenwig, had thirty eight. They both faced
eight power plays, but they kept the game scoreless in regulation.
Hate to lose something like that. That's not a good
way to win. I mean, lose This game is January
thirty first against the Binghamton Black Bears in New York.
(22:41):
So again, this is our second show on Sports Vision's
ninety two to one FL and we hope that you
are continuing to enjoy on a weekly basis. And again,
if you're in Atlanta, Columbus, you're in Texas, you're in Australia,
you're in London, I want you to tell people that
they if they enjoy it on the sports and enjoy

first part of the story about Around the ATL coming
about I used to use something called blog talk radio,
the free service. I used to interview models and actors
and musicians and music video directors and magazine publishers because
I used to be a talent manager years ago, and
(25:22):
so that's what I was doing. And then years later
I started just talking about sports kind of blindly, just
in general. I did a thirty minute show just talking sports,
and a friend of mine, Jamal Price, he also started
doing the same. So we would call into each other's show,
but we also would have other people from Facebook call
into the show. We just chopped it up about sports, Okay,
(25:44):
I hadn't named it Around the ATL just yet, And
there's a reason why. And next week, if you stay tuned,
I'll give you a little bit more of that story.
So Jordan, as we get ready to close out, any
last words for you, sir, Well, so you know I.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
Wouldn't say this thirty minutes.
Speaker 6 (26:01):
Goes quick, so you know we're quick hitting.
Speaker 5 (26:03):
With this Around the at l U Bill look out

longer two hour shows as well, because we can really
get more in depth and really take.
Speaker 6 (26:15):
More calls and talk to you.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Guys about these a lot of these Georgia sports. But
you know, as always, I just want to thank you
guys for joining around.
Speaker 5 (26:24):

I want to also give a shout out to my

and she's you.
Speaker 5 (26:43):

And last, but not least, I just want to thank
