Speaker 4 (02:36):
What's going on?

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Chris glad to be here on Sports This is ninety
two point one and joined you guys for another episode
of Around the ATM.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
I want to give a shout out to my guy
John Weaver listener Bars who's lived in Georgia but now.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Lives in Vegas, but he still keeps up with Atlanta
sports by Around the eight.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
But that being said, sir, let's talk about these Atlanta sports.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
So first and foremost, we're gonna talk Atlanta Braids baseball.
Now their schedule that I should say, their record has changed.
They're two and eight to start the season. Jordan, what
do you have to say anything about the Atlanta Braids
right now?

Speaker 4 (03:19):
You go.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
It's been a very tough start, Chris. Obviously, he faced
two very good teams the first two series in the Padres.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
The team that eliminated us from the postseason.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Last year, and then the all billion dollar payroll Los
Angeles Dodgers that basically have assembled the All Star team
from the best All Star team that money could buy
onto a roster. But yet it's still, you know, you
hope to take at least, you know, two or three

(03:54):
games or at least three really out of those first seven.
Unfortunately it didn't go that way.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
And seven.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
The starting pitching actually wasn't bad in those two series
for the most part. It was really the hitting was
it was not coming through at the bullpen let us
down tremendously. As we mentioned last week, we've had some changes.
Ector Narris has been let go, Jesse Chavez has also
better let go, and so that has led to.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
A little bit better performances from the ball pim And.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Thankfully the Braids were able to get a win against
the Marlins, but then turn around and got shut out
by the Marlins the next game. And I you know,
honestly was happy to see that the third game of
that series was rained out and reached helped him for
a later date because I'm hoping the Brads will be
playing a much better ball at that later date when
that makeup game comes around. Now, hitting the Phillies steven

(04:51):
to By was definitely a positive especially considering that Chris
Sale gave up five runs you know in the game,
I mean just all trying to.

Speaker 5 (05:01):
Ramp back up, but certainly beating a Philly's team that
is seven and three including the loss to Atlanta, what's
a positive development, don't you think, Chris?

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Yeah, I mean, well, we try to take every little
positive because right now we need it. You know, it's
a very disappointing start to the season. That you needed
to have a better season than last year for sure,
and you know, no matter what the time frame of
Strider and Acuna coming back is, we need to play
better overall, and I think all the players realize that.
But two and eight we're not there yet. So we'll

(05:35):
see what happens next. Let's go ahead and get into
our next team in Atlanta, the Atlanta Hawks, now the Magic,
the next the Philly Philadelphia seventy six ers that is,
and the Magic. Those are the four teams that the
Hawks were going to be playing the end the season.
The Hawks, if they won all four, would have won
the division, clinch the seventh spot in the East, gotten

(05:57):
home court for the playing against the Magic, and if
they beat the Magic again in the play in they
would have played the Boston Celtics to defending NBA champions.
If they don't make the seventh spot and fall the eighth,
they still have to beat Orlando, but on the road,
then play the winner of the nine to ten matchup,
then finish as the eighth seed, and then have the

(06:18):
Calves in the first round. And I've said that the
Hawks could win a first round playoff series against Boston
or the Cavs if everything goes right. They can't miss
easy shots, they can't give up sixty five points in
the paint. They can't give up twenty eight fast break
points or twenty five threes in the game. Obviously right,
and they have the pieces, but everybody has to be consistent.

(06:39):
I've said this, right. You can't have a double digit
game one night and then have six points in another.
It can't work.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
But guess what.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
The Hawks lost that first game against the Magic that
I just mentioned, another loss by seven points or less.
As Tredyon has twenty eight and ten, but Congo has
thirty and fourteen. But we get eight points from Reacher,
say we get six points from Moji, we get nine
points from Niang. Terrence Mann played thirty minutes and gave
a zero points, but worse than all of that. Worst

(07:11):
in all of this now, people Snyder keeps proving he
cannot adjust to what's happening in a game, and I
have pretty much given up on that. I think it's
time at the end of this season we have to
make a move. And since somebody let go of their
NBA champion head coach today, let's get Mike Malone up

(07:32):
in here and see what he can do with the
Atlanta Hawks. That's just my opinion, Jordan, what do you think, sir, Well, I've.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Kind of torn when it comes to Clint Stutter because
on one.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Hand, the Hawks have not had a great history of
incredible head coaches, and so while he may be one
of the better ones we've had in recent years, ultimately
when you look.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
At the results, the results just aren't. There. Were yet
to finish five hundred and we are.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
We'll failed to finish over five hundred again this season
under Quinn Snyder, and when I just look back in hindsight,
I honestly think that we hired the wrong guy. I
was listening to a comment from Houston Rutgets coach he
made your Doka, who basically said that he coached his
team to play physical.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
Played russ and you make the referees adjust to you.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
And as you know, Chris, this is always a philosophy
I've had and I've said this, you know, throughout the
years on around the at L. If I had a team,
I would have him come out the first game of
the season playing as aggressive as possible.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
And yes, you may get it filed trouble the first
few games.

Speaker 6 (08:40):
You may have quite a few a few guys file
out the first few games. But e mention that the
rest are gonna call every foul you they're gonna just
you're gonna get the reputation from being a physical team,
and and and that's what.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
They was just to that mantra. Accordingly, So I do
think we got the wrong guy.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
As you mentioned, you know, Trey, you know you can
playing great against Orlando.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
In addition to the stats you mentioned, a Congo also
had four assists.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
And three steals, but he didn't have any blocks trade
with his two assists only, I only turned it over
three times, but yet we turned it over eighteen times.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
As a team. Unfortunately, Sir, I think that Zachary Rechiche.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Has kind of faded away at the wrong time and
has probably lost the record of the year raised to
Stephen Castle with this performance over the last three games
or so.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
And you know, Dyson Dyas, he was decent, but he
only had one steal.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
I did block two shots, you know, but that's two
steals below his average. And like you said, just not
enough production up and down the line of thirty minutes
playing time of zero points. It's just horrendous, like we
cannot afford that with the team we have currently. So
I ain't the say Chris, but our chances of being

(09:59):
the SA up.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
To see and getting a whole playing game.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Our own life support sir. What we need to happen
now in order to get the seventh seed. We need
to win out, which would be against Brooklyn, against the
seventy six ers, and against Orlando, which and the Orlando
game is in allowed, So it is possible that we
need Orlando to lose out, which would be a loss

(10:24):
to US, a lost to Indiana, and a lost to Boston.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
Now Dastan's perfine can happen.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
So it's not over it yet, but one more lost
by the Hawks that it is over, and one more
win by Elendo and it is over.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Chris and see my thing is with this sports vision
is ninety two to one fl Thanks for everyone listening
on the tune in app and make sure you subscribe
to the IMT and Worldwide Radio YouTube channel. Is this
was a must win game, and our coach can't get
everybody on board in a must win game to be like,
where's the sense of urgency again? You know you're gonna

(11:04):
get twenty five and twelve out of Trey Young O
Congo has been steady the whole month and a half, right,
where is everybody else? You mentioned Zach basically losing probably
the Rookie of the year opportunity there. But Terrence Man
was zero for five tonight. Niang was four of ten tonight.
Lavert was four of eleven tonight. You see what I'm saying.

(11:25):
I mean, at a certain point we fit was one
of two three points just the other night he was
balling away from three, wasn't he? And then we get
three points tonight, You see what I'm saying, and stuff
like that. It's and then it's like, well, why can't
you figure out the lineups enough to say we gotta

(11:45):
get production out to start and line up every night
at the power forward position. What is it with that position?
But the other thing that you mentioned I believe was
and it kind of goes back into the sense of
urgency as far as preparing people to play and adjust
against what you are doing rather than vice versa. Because again,
all teams double Trey Young. We do on double team nobody.

(12:08):
We just let them do whatever they want. How many points.
I'll go ahead and tell everybody. Paolo had thirty three points,
twelve or twenty four shots, Wagner had twenty two points,
eight of twenty shots. Willndol Carter Junior had seventeen points tonight,
and then out of nowhere KCP had fifteen. He wasn't
doing nothing the whole game, and all of a sudden

(12:28):
he ends with fifteen points and we lost this game
by seven. It doesn't make any sense anymore. And as
you mentioned, yes, it looks like we ended up getting
the wrong guy. Unfortunately, it is what it is. It
is not because Trey Young is a coach killer. It's
a matter of we can't get an actual NBA head
coach that can coach. And this is why I keep

(12:49):
saying we need better bench coaches.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
Why can't we have.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
A defensive coach on our team. Why can't we have
a big man coach who is our shooting coach? Again,
I don't know, but at the end of the day,
we don't have a staff, and all these other teams
that are winning half bonafide staffs up and down, the
up and down, and it's just so frustrating and see
all this talent being wasted. Yes, we've had injuries, but

(13:15):
injuries are no excuse. For a period of time, the
sixth spot was in our grass. It was there, and
we've lost it, and like you said, we're barely hanging
on with a thread now. So it's just disappointing how
this season is kind of wrapping up. But the season
is not over, okay. Like I said, whether or not
we finished seventh or eighth, we could still get in

(13:35):
and we still have a shot to win a seven
game layoffs series. As much as this looks bad right now,
we have had the Knights where we can blow out
anybody in the NBA right and we have the record
of the Eastern Conference. We have our games against teams
five hundred or better to prove all of that. So
it's just upsetting that we lost this game as we

(13:56):
did go ahead, Jordan.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
It just seems like we played great against the hot teams,
especially in the Eastern Conference, but the teams that are
closer to us in the standings, the Alandos, the Miamis,
even the Chicago's at time, we don't seed to play
as well against. And I just can't quite seem to
understand that. And the other thing is, I am just
absolutely perplexed by Quinn Schneider's rotations at times. And like

(14:25):
I mentioned, Zachary recent shake kind of fading out. But
today he actually wasn't that bad. I mean, he scored
eight points. He was three out of six from the
field and two out of three from three point range.
I mean he did have three files, but that's only
half way to filing out. And he was a plus
one and the plus minus was high, with which hide

(14:47):
for the team leading.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
But yet he only played sixteen minutes for the entire
ball game.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
But you leave Terrence Mann out there for thirty minutes
to go over five, it's scored zero points.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
It just I can't of the loss. Is that. I'm
telling you that's a fireable offense right there, sir.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Yeah, I just can't figure out the logic, cut of it,
of it at all. So, you know, we gotta find
some consistency in these last three games.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
We need to run the table. We need to give the.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Fans of Atlanta home game, and he's playing to try
to check this team on, you know, to the playoffs.
But unfortunately, you know, if we have to play on
the road, I don't have confidence then we'll win that.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
First playing game. Now that could work in our favor.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
If we lose the first playing game, they'll turn around
and win the next one, which would be in Atlanta,
and we do finish our eight and then then we
would end up claiming the eighth seed and playing Cleveland
rather than Boston, because I've been honest with you, I
much rather see Cleveland that doesn't have a track working
of success in the playoffs versus the you know, the
defending champions. But that's also playing with fire though basically

(15:59):
winner go home playing game as well.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Two more things before we get to our half halfway
point of the show. On Sports Vision's ninety two to
one FM, the Atlanta Hawks shot forty one to three
tonight thirty four percent. We hit fourteen of them, and
just to prove that O Congo should have been starting
a long time ago.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
He was seven.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
He was eight of eight at the free throw line
tonight at fourteen rebounds, four assists, three steals, and he
was four to seven from the three point line. Clint
Compella can't do any of this, folks.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
What are we talking about?

Speaker 3 (16:33):
We were wasting time. It's just disappointing. We might come
back a little bit later and talk a little bit
more Hawks as we get ready to.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
Orlando, one of the worst three point shooting teams in
the league. To make fourteen out of thirty four for
forty one percent, it's just unacceptable.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
And at one point late in the third quarter around
the fourth corner, they were shooting fifty twelve or twenty
four from three. We've got to do better off the
defense and tighten up that three point.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Line exactly, and one person can't do that, has to
be the whole team. So as we get ready to
go into our second half, we have a little bit
of college basketball to talk about, as well as Atlanta
United and Atlanta Vive. So don't go anywhere. This is
around the at L on Sports Visions ninety two one FM.

Speaker 7 (17:23):
You're listening to around the atl with Chris and Jordan
will be right back with more Atlanta sports talk, and

(18:07):
we are back.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Thanks for everyone joining us on the tune in app
on Sports Vision's ninety two to one FM. This is
around the atl as we go into our second half
of our show. So college basketball season is officially over,
but let's go ahead and talk about what happened previous
to that. The Auburn Tigers, their season tragically came to

(18:28):
an end last week, eliminated by the eventual national champion
Florida Gators seventy nine to seventy three. Florida really outplayed
the Tigers in this game, but the Tigers don't have
anything to hold their heads down on. They've they finished
thirty two and six. They were right there all the
way down to the bitter end. Jordan, any brief thoughts
on the Tigers season.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
They had a great season. They were the number one
overall seed in b NCAA tournament.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
If I remembery serves me correctly without looked it up,
I believe they were fifteen and three. He played for
the season at the toughest conference possibly the history of
college basketball.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
So you know, they had a great season.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Unfortunately, they failed to the Gators and Walcher Clayton Junior
was just spectacular for the Gators. Albert actually led that
game at halftime forty six thirty eight by eight points.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
The Clayton junior scored thirty four points.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
And he was the first player with thirty point games
both in the Elite Eighth and the Final Four since
Larry Bird did it for Indiana State in nineteen seventy nine,
according to ESPN Stats. So that's quite impressive. I you know,
I'll be honest, I am a Gator hater because I

(19:42):
am a Georgia Bulldog fan through and through.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
I still hate the Gators from the days of the
old ball coach Steves.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Burrier, you know, just terrorizing and just you know, talk team,
you know Georgia and the Georgia fans.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
But you know, the SEC's team did take.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
Home the title, and that's kind of fitting thing that
the SEC was clearly the best conference in college basketball
all season long.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
Christian, Yeah, it would have been a big disappointment if
one of the SEC teams didn't actually win at all.
So shout out to Florida, even though I don't really
want man, I really hate saying that right there. Anyway,
let's move forward for something bad. Has the Atlanta Vibe
now again a reminder, in the very near future, we're
going to have the MVP of last year in the

(20:29):
Pro Volleyball Federation for the Atlanta Vibe, Leah Edmund on
around the atl We're working on it still here on
Sports Vision's ninety two to one FM, So all the
volleyball fans out there make sure you tune in for that.
And actually, as of tonight's broadcast, they're actually on the
road tonight in San Diego against the San Diego Mojo.
They remain in second place fourteen and eight in a

(20:51):
massively successful season. Their next home match will be April
twenty six at Gas South Arena in Atlanta, So if
you still haven't been, is not too late, make sure
you go. Jordan, let's talk to Atlanta United Soccer.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
Yes, Chris, and first of.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
All, you listened to the Sports Business ninety two point
one f them. Thank you for joining your folks on
around the ATM butt shut out again. The Southern Classic
transportation whereandam the streets is if you call them, they
might just put up on you in a twenty twenty
five as you beat Oh that's that's what I'm here.
That's what I'm here out there. That being said, sir,

(21:29):
Atlanta United FC and FC Dallas had a one to
one draw miguel A Maroon for the second straight game.
For the goal, this goal came in the seventeenth minute.
The very defensive match only shots on goal was two
apiece for each team and the total number of shots

(21:51):
was eleven for Atlanta United and nine for FC Dallas.
And I mean, the fact is Brad Guzan only had
one say because he only shots on gold, one he
saved and one he didn't. And that draws Atlanta United
record the two wins, three draws and two losses. And

(22:13):
so next week they will play Philadelphia United to get
Atlanta be nice to get or win and bounce back there.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
To get some momentum going.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Sir.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
Yeah, it sounds like they're right now, still in the
middle of the pack. Is still an early season though,
and if anything, there they're much more competitive than last
year bar none. So I'm excited about how this season
could end up with everything new with Miggie being back
and new management and everything like that. So we'll see
how that turns out. Atlanta Falcons Football now sneak peek.

(22:47):
We do plan on having an NFL draft show very soon,
But what I wanted to talk about is the offer
being re signed. So question, is this more proof that
the Falcons are having their worst off season of all
time or will all the moves and non moves made
this offseason prove to be genius moves and will end

(23:08):
up with the tenth best defense for twenty twenty five Jordan,
what do you think.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
Sir, Well Chris, I think the parallels between the Hawks
and the Falcons oftentimes are just uncanny because oft the
times with a lot of Hawks we see.

Speaker 4 (23:23):
A lack of moves.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
But we're told that what's gonna make us better is
the players we already have are going to improve internally
and that's what's going.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
To take us to the next level.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Well, that's the same thing we're hearing from Raheem Mars
and the Falcons currently that.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
These guys we drafted last year and didn't get.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
A whole lot of run, like rook of row Road Road,
who showed a few flashes but didn't play a lot
early in the season, then got injured like Brandon Dorless,
a defensive tackle, a lot of Morgan defense attack of
slash defensively out of.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
Oregon who didn't hardly play at all last year.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
You know, these are probably two of the most privent
names we're hearing, we're expecting a big improvement from.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
And I'm just not confident in it. I am confident that.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
The offense will be good with Michael Pendicks Junior and
John Robinson and Tyler l Jeer and Drake London and
Darnelle Mooney purposely not gonna say Kyle Pits, but I
just don't think this defense will be even average to
offset that or to compliment that offense, I mean, rather

(24:29):
than offset.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
And so you know, fortunately it's not be hard to
win it, because defense does still win championships. You know,
defense does still matter.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
But unfortunately for US, defense just doesn't see the matter
very much, and especially past brush he offers struggle pretty
mightily last year.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
Maybe some of it of a scheme that I don't
think the Steam's gonna change very much when.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
The head coach is a defensive guy and he's gonna
have a bager say in what we run.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
Defensively, Chris, and that's a scary thing, you know, Can
we rely on our offense to score thirty five points
every game, because that's basically where we would have to
be to have a chance to win on a regular
basis as of the moment. And like you said, the
concentration of not building a defense has been going on
since Matt Ryan years. So why are we gonna duplicate

(25:20):
that for a second year quarterback who's really actually good,
but we're gonna leave him on the hook to have
him be blamed game after game after game from not
being able to win games because our defense can't get
a stop. It's gonna be kind of worry some and
that's what I'm afraid of this year, that we're just
gonna have another waisting season. Go ahead, Jordan, real quick.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
Note that I have heard the rumor out there that
the Atlanta Falcons are thinking about trading up to select
Jalen Walker out in Uga in the first round.

Speaker 4 (25:53):
I would love for walking the ball to.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
Atlanta, but I've skeptical of trading up for a rookie
pass sure if it's gonna cost us next year's first
round pick, because I honestly don't want to end up
giving away a top five or top ten or even
the top.

Speaker 4 (26:07):
Fifteen pick next year. You know, just to get a
guy that obviously you know he's got to hit.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
If we do something like that, I think there's enough
good pass Russus that we could get one if we
stay put at fifteen. But I'm also concerned because I
keep hearing about us working out and talking with the
offensive lineman Kevin Banks Junior. And last time we heard
about a major workout and meeting with the prospect at
the last minute, it was back of Pennix and we

(26:34):
end up trapped to them.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
In the first round.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
And if we actually don't go defense in the first round,
really wanted to end, but I'll take a defensive tackle
or even a corner. It would be such a disappointment
to me, Chris.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
Because at this point we'll be going even further.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
Than timas de Metrov did when it comes to building
an offense heavy roster. And unfortunately, that's the type of
team the Foutans have had most of my lifetime. And
with the sumption of that defense that went to Super
Bowl in ninety eight, you know, they had big Chuck
Smith to pass rush Guru and that front forward us
to our boat and Travis Hall and those guys, we

(27:16):
really haven't had a formidable defensive line majority of my life, Chris,
and I'm sick of it.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
It gets to a point where it just doesn't seem
like winning is important in Atlanta. And when we do
our draft show here on Sports Vision's ninety two to
one FM and also on Around the atl on the
IMT and Worldwide Radio YouTube channel, you'll see some of
that because we'll go back in time, way back in time,
and we'll show some of these draft picks over the

(27:42):
years and moves that weren't made that could have been
made to make this team a lot better than it is.
Because guess what, the Falcons still don't have a Super Bowl.
We have two Super Bowl appearances period in history. It's
not good, y'all. So as we wrap up tonight's show,
we want to say thank you again for everyone who's
