Speaker 1 (00:00):
Creativity is an addiction unplugged because we will always say
yes to creativity, totally uncut because we all make mistakes,
so turn it into a tool. This is arrow unplugged.
I had to ask a question this morning, why do
we crave hot, steamy coffee every morning? Now, as much
as I was hoping for a miracle answer based on
a daily comfort, all fingers are pointed toward our love
(00:24):
and need for caffeine. It's said to be a habit,
psychologically dependent guilty as charged on this which I can
connect to my past, dating all the way back to
my first radio job in nineteen seventy nine. I always
grew up thinking that a cup of coffee was that
thing that adults did and kids. If you had one,
it's like, oh my god, I broke the adult rules.
(00:47):
Only the older people got to enjoy that full flavor
mixed with cream and or sugar or whatever else you
put inside your coffee. And look at how coffee has
survived the times. The first power drink, Believe it or Not,
was introduce to the world in nineteen forty nine, but
they didn't become a real hit in the world until
nineteen ninety seven with the introduction of red bull. I
(01:08):
have done them both, preferring the heat of the coffee
over everything that makes a rush take place. But I
do wonder though, Like bananas, I always wonder if the
world suddenly had a shortage of bananas and coffee, how
would the world react? Heyzara, this is the daily Mess,
(01:28):
a chronological walk through an everyday world. I am a
daily writer, a silent wolf. I'm watching the world. I'm
studying everything that's going on. Research it and then come
back here and have a conversation. It's the daily mess,
making our way through each and every new day. How
do you embrace it? Did you plan for it? Or
will the next twenty four hours be improv on ice?
(01:51):
I recently shared a conversation with my wife about how
as kids, we always had something to look forward to.
That's the reason why things move so slowly. We couldn't
wait till school was over, but it wasn't moving fast enough.
We wanted new malls to shop in, to maybe fall
in love, to get a car, to dream and win win, win,
win win. But as adults it can be a serious
(02:13):
negative to share what we're looking forward to. Most of
it is based on if we can afford it, And
if we can't afford it, what are we willing to
sacrifice to get it? You know it's bad when your
neighbor keeps putting beautiful furniture and workout equipment out on
the street. It's sitting there, nobody is taking it. I mean,
he's looking forward to a less cluttered life, while the
(02:35):
rest of us are driving by going I wish I
had the room, but I'm sorry, I'm not adding that
to my space. As we make our way through another day,
your journey, your process, which becomes progress. Are you still
connected to something you're looking forward to. That's one of
(02:57):
the reasons why we got an RV and we go camping.
It gives us that opportunity every single month to look
forward to camping, and it feels like forever to get there.
But for so many people around the world, we're waking up,
our bodies are going through its every day motions to
get the work day done, come home, have dinner, watch
some TV, go to sleep, get back up the next day,
(03:21):
making our way through the day, locating those things we
can look forward too, which I think is one of
the reasons why people love Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and
Super Bowl Sunday, because it gives us four things that
we can look forward to, and it's going to take
a lot of time to get to. But once Thanksgiving
is over here in the States, you better hold on
(03:42):
tight because it's going to move very quickly from that
point forward. And then when you get on the other
side of Super Bowl Sunday, the only thing that we
have is to look over our shoulder to see what
we did. And so many people go into depressions because
of that, because it's like I didn't do anything. We
look forward to taking vacations. I'll sit down with people
and say, well, what did you do? I just sat around,
(04:04):
I didn't do anything. Are you disappointed with yourself? Yes,
what happened. I just didn't feel like doing anything. So
we look forward to doing absolutely nothing. One of the
goals that I have with my wife on a daily
basis is to find out what are your plans, because
I want our plans to work together so we have
something to look forward too. For instance, like we just
(04:25):
took up pickleball, we haven't gotten onto a physical court
yet because we're still learning how to handle the paddle.
Who wants to go to a pickleball court where all
the pros are to see two little beginners over there
on the right hand side. Now we want to learn
it first and then we go forward and start playing
the game. It's something to look forward too. So that
should be your challenge on a daily basis. What is
(04:46):
your intention when you put focus on things that you
can look forward too, like maybe looking forward to going
to work. Think beyond just collecting a paycheck. Think into
the realms of who is this prom product actually reaching
and how can I reach that consumer even more to
build up a relationship to look forward to being with
(05:09):
that consumer. I'm Maril and that's the daily mess.
