Speaker 1 (00:00):
Those old saints. You know, phrases, idioms, those things your
family and friends would usually bring up from out of nowhere,
and most of the time it just didn't make sense.
They had to start somewhere. Who, what, where, why, when
and how. Some of those old saints are not only ancient,
but still carry a powerful punch today. In fact, I
live by one of those old saints. My mantra winning

(00:21):
is a choice. The goal of these episodes is to
help preserve not only a language, but lessons in life.
My name is Arrow. A few sandwiches short of a
picnic Ooh wow, could be the powers of assumption here,
But I can only wonder what this one really is
all about. And I'm wondering if I'm wrong. A few
sandwiches short of a picnic in my heart says you

(00:44):
aren't all there? But am I right? The phrase actually
started in the nineteen eighties, appearing first on the BBC's
Lenny Henry Christmas special. It was later used by the
legendary magic duo Pen and Teller in nineteen eighty five.
And it's exactly what I AM assumed it meant. It
describes someone who is in short supply of common sense.

(01:05):
Another term or phrase that's been used over the years.
You're a few xes short of your y construction, a
few bricks short of a full load, a court low,
or the infamous three cards short of a full deck.
So this idea that it's okay to call someone mentally
short during these modern times, can we still use something

(01:26):
like this with something that was actually introduced in Australia
in eighteen fifty two. Openly telling somebody your a shingle
short is what they said. No, this kind of talk
by mental experts is not acceptable. The phrase is woke.
Using such a phrase can get you in trouble. It's

(01:46):
due one hundred percent to respecting people for who they are.
I mean, come on, we're all one sandwich short of
a picnic. Something our parents would say,

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
