Good morning, fantastic, How are you well.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
I'm fired up and ready to share a conversation with you, guys,
because you could not ask for a more down to earth,
real holiday movie. A Christmas movie that deals with the
NFL and the Buffalo Bills, who are having a pretty
good season this year.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Yes, they are really well.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
I know we had a little bit of a blip,
but I'm jack. I feel like we can still go
all the way.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
I'll tell you the one thing that I love about
this movie, Holiday Touchdown, is the fact that to me,
it's a movie about fans, and especially when it comes
to Bills fans, because I don't think there's anybody more
loyal to their team than a Bills fan. And when
you have a relationship that's built on this, Oh my god,
this is so in touch with reality.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
It really is being in Buffalo. You know, I'm not
from Buffalo.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
I'm from New York City, but you know, I always
sort of know about the Bills fans, but being here
and seeing it, You're absolutely right.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Bills fans are probably the most devoted.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
They probably live the hardest for their team of any
fandom I've seen for any sports team, certainly in football.
And I'm all here for it. It's infectious. I'm all
Bills this year.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
I'm all in. Now.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
The two of you being that close to the Bills
fans inside this movie Holiday Touchdown, let me ask you
this question. The Bills have a special hot dog? Did
they cherish up there? Did they give you one of those?
Did you get to enjoy one of those? Because it
seems to be the big thing down here in the
Carolina is because there's Buffalo bill fans everywhere.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
It's this hot dog. We've had it. We've had all
the things. We've had all the things. I haven't had
the hot dog, Holland if you had the hot you
haven't had the hog.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
I've got pizza loa be fun wet loganberry drink. We
just found out about the pizza.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
All the wings you can eat, But tell me about
this hot dog. I want it.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Well, it's just one of those things where they because
we have the Carolinas, have become the breeding ground from
anybody from New York, Anybody's they're all moving down here.
And so then we've got the Bills fans, we've got
the Giants fans and stuff. But everybody is bringing their
regional food with them and the Buffalo Bills. Man, they've
got some food and some tailgating food that it's just awesome.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Oh yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
The tailgating up here is crazy, and the cooking up
here at the tail getting Holland you love the file cabinet,
smoked meats home.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Man, you got to.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Get a filing cabin with some.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Ribs in it, right, And then they have the Buffalo
Bills on the movie set with you. What was that experience?
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Like, Oh my gosh, just seeing when two industries collide
that have such enthusiasm with the people who are involved
with it. It is such a unique flavor ball like you're
never going to experience this again. So that's not lost
on us. And so Buffalo felt like a really big hug.
(02:54):
Hallmark feels like a really big hug, and the players
were fantastic. They were so funny. Mar Hamlin walks in
and talks about his I asked if he had any
acting experience, and.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
He said fourth grade Peter Pan.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
And that was the feeling that took right off, Like
I always like, I want to see fourth grade Peter
Pan and he just everyone came alive. Dan Dawkins, his
joy is buites off the page. Yeah, Jehan McDermott. We
had the Hall of Famers to the present team, Joshua, Palmer, Dawson, Knox,
Ray Davis and so all of them did.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
A great job and all of them got a laugh.
That's great.
Speaker 1 (03:31):

We are back with Holland and Matthew. Well, the pacing
of the movie itself is so amazing because you know,
it's so easy to just go in and rush a
relationship together, but that doesn't happen in this You build
it up, which gives you the opportunity to share the

story with the viewers. And then this way we can
take it in and embrace it even more and get
deeper into the storyline. I mean, Hallmark has nailed it
when it comes to the page seen of a great story.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
This is so interesting that you're saying this because it's
exactly what I heard quite a few people talk about
last night. It was the thing I noticed when I
watched the film was the pacing was really incredible. I
was very impressed with that final third of the film.
Sometimes these uh, these kind of films will get it wrong,
they won't quite nail the you know, the timing when
the first kiss happens, or if it does and or
you know, where all the love story progresses. And it
(04:24):
was perfectly done. I was incredibly impressed with the pacing.
It's exactly right.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
As a great job director.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
With the moving of the camera. The fluidity of the
camera movement is a big part of the reason why.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Yeah, because we're also used to seeing these these these
things that are showing up on TikTok and stuff. We
want that movement, we want that reality to happen. So
what you're right, when when I'm sitting there watching this
movie and I see a camera move I'm going, oh
that that feels like a moment where I'm just sitting
here watching just a reals video on Facebook.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Yeah, well there's a there's a camera device they kind
of I think in built Sashian vent called the scissor
jib and that created like a techno crane that on
a much cheaper budget, much leaner budget, that we were
able to get some of a lot of those.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Like swinging shots, and so that was that was the
justin special.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
If you if you liked the pacing of your of
your social reels and whatnot, I think this movie can
can can get your attention.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
You'll like it. It keeps it moving.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
It feels like I'm stepping into your world. It's not
like you guys are trying to bring a movie to me.
I feel like that I've stopped in and this life
is going on and I just happened to start participating
with it. And kudos to the writers as well as
the actors and directors on this because for you guys
to set that up you had to work together.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
We met the writers at the end and there were
two women that they also said we didn't know a
lot about football. We did we make it?
Speaker 2 (05:50):
I said, I thought, I thought.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
You all would have known a lot about football. And
so they do a lot of research and came out
and visited before they wrote the script, so they came
with a fistful of knowledge before they re wrote it.
It was not.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Taking extensive research and a crew that was cared about
what they were doing. And we filmed in Buffalo, so
we were focused on actually doing it right. And I
think that all the pieces came together in a really
effective way. So you gotta you gotta give credit to
the Hallmark, You gotta give credit to the crew and
to the writers.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yeah, it was. It was a great team to work with.
Still really great actors.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Am I a freak to think that this would make
a great Valentine's Day movie as well? Because I mean really,
I'm sure there's there's that Christmas vibe to it, But
I see love, I feel emotion, I feel community, I
feel I feel everything Valentine's Day as well as Christmas
in this movie.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yes, absolutely love Story. Yeah yeah, when do you don't
want to love Story?
Speaker 4 (06:43):
What do you don't want to love Story's family that
has hey, has a little bit of sports, has fandom
in it. Come on, that's the stuff that makes our
hearts pump, you know. And Valentine's Day, Christmas whatever, I'm
about it.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
You guys have got to come back to this show
anytime in the future. The door is always going to

The Burden
The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm.
