Speaker 1 (00:00):
As a podcast listener, where do you go to get
those stories that you can tap into on your time?
You know, having that power of choice. That's the reason
why I created a r Roe dot net ero dot
net so that you do have a power of choice.
Maybe you don't want to talk to a footy expert today,
Maybe you want to talk with an ia author. The
(00:20):
power of choice. Enjoy the exploration. Hey, welcome to Missed Opportunity.
I love sharing conversations. Hosting them requires show prep. My
podcasting platforms feature thousands of guests. Now what you don't
have access to are my missed opportunities. That's when you
did the show prep, it was one hundred percent completed,
but the conversation didn't happen. I keep all of my
(00:42):
notes mainly because I believe that paths will one day
cross again. Let me explain missed opportunity. It's my questions
and statements without their answers. I'm leaving that door open
for them to slip in their answers and send back
the sound. Missed opportunity is a lost piece of history.
Like a message in a bottle, it has been tossed
(01:04):
out to see and hopefully it will locate its destination.
This week, we're putting focus on my missed opportunity with
singer songwriter che Che Sarahi. Okay cha Chi Sarahi, first
generation Nigerian American whose full name means God's wish. She
started writing songs at the age of thirteen, but never
(01:26):
saw music as an option, So she made her way
toward college to study medicine, of all things, and then
it hit her music is where she really truly wanted
to be. We've all gone through this to create that transition, though,
would prove to be tough. I mean, after all, she
lived in Michigan. The journey to be recognized in music
was far from being an overnight sensation. But things did
(01:49):
change though when cha Chee started opening up for the
legendary Brian mcnight. Okay, now you've got my attention. The
invitation to share a conversation, which jch Sarahi, came on
October twenty fifth, twenty twenty three. The one on one
conversation would be October thirty first, at nine to forty
(02:09):
a m. A twenty minute conversation. She was part of
NBC's The Voice, a four time Emmy Award winning musical
competition series Season twenty four was judged by Reba McIntyre,
Niall Horn, of One Direction, John Legend, and Gwen Stefani.
I wanted all the singing contestants from NBC's The Voice,
(02:30):
to which the producers replied, I'll start figuring things out
and email you the time slots. This would be the
first of three weeks. Hey, coming up next, my questions
my statements with ch Chi Sarahi from NBC's The Voice. Hey,
welcome back to Missed Opportunity. This is my missed opportunity
(02:53):
with Chi Chi Sarai from NBC's The Voice, Season number
twenty four. What is the one lesson from The Voice
that you have embraced and grown with even though there
are some challenges, you have embraced it and you're starting
to see some fruit on the vine. Come on. Opening
(03:13):
up for Brian mcnight outside Luther Vandros. I mean he
is the king of soul, making that transition, that decision
from the world of medicine that you studied to be
a part of and now you were headed back to music.
Aren't they one in the same. Don't they have to
work together with harmony as a songwriter in today's world.
(03:37):
Are you trying to reach fans on TikTok or is
this something that you're planting out there and allowing it
to organically grow forward to be so musical? Yet it
didn't sound like the option you wanted to chase as
a young adult. I absolutely love what your Nigerian name
(03:59):
actually means. God's wish. Now you have to live up
to it. Right thirty two years old living in Los
Angeles where the music scene is constantly evolving, how does
that play with your imagination? You were at the Grammys
with Lizzo. What a brilliant opportunity. What do you take
(04:22):
from something like that? And there you have it, another
missed opportunity, a lost piece of history. You now know
the questions and the statements, so let's locate the reactions.
The door is always going to be open. If you
are or no ch Chi Sarah, please reach out to
me at arroc at gmail dot com. That's a R.
(04:43):
R oe c at gmail dot com and as always,
be brilliant
