Rather than looking at a rainy day as being another reason or season to mope around... Take the time to find interest in the animals in your park, neighborhood or while visiting your back or front yard. They never come across as being depressed or a Debbie Downer.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ernie. Yeah, Ernie, my blue Crown conyer. For over thirty
two years he has overlooked his forest right here in
South Charlotte, North Carolina. I mean every day Ernie sits
in his beautiful home, overlooking the trees, the nearby lake,
and every bit of wildlife that is peacefully strolling through
this amazing piece of land. Ernie and I share the
same vision. It's this forest. We both look into the

(00:21):
trees and study the earth below. There's just something very
spiritual here. The lyrics to Ernie's Forest, we both receive
an amazing amount of energy. I put all my trust
and skills as a student into what he is willing
to share with me. These aren't my words, these are
the lyrics from Ernie's Forest, chapter number four hundred seventeen.

(00:42):
March ninth, twenty twenty four, a late winter Chili rain
blankets Ernie's forest. I was amazed to see the deer
gathered in a circle of warmth and natural community. Now
normally they're missing from the story. On a day when
the sun is decided to call in sick. Today they
serve as a rem to stay strong during whatever storm

(01:02):
has been captured inside our heart. I often think of
my household birds and if they could survive outside those windows,
overlooking the array of trees, a slow moving stream, and
a nearby lake. The doves are so gentle, while the
blue crown conyer Ernie is louder and more expressive than
the hawks and the owls. The crows would be all

(01:24):
over Ernie, not because of his eighty bitty size, but
the volume of his bird calls and need for companionship.
He'd probably hook up with a tiny squirrel whose eyes
would constantly roll each time Ernie makes a command, a
shouting match. Oh yeah, another rainy day in Carolina. How
often do you pay attention to those moments when the

(01:46):
sky is gray and it's filled with water. I've always
called it liquid sunshine because we can all learn from
moments such as this. It's part of the transition. It's
the different stages that we all face in our everyday world,
and Mother Nature plays right along with us. But when
the deer, the hawks, the owls, the crow, they all
decide to come into your play as well, What do

(02:06):
you do? Do you think their pesky birds? Get them
out of here. I don't need them anymore. I don't
do that even when the blue jay stops in for
its migrating moments. You sit there and you study the
behavior of what animals are doing during your time of assumption. Sure,
these digital devices that we have in our pockets, they
can attempt to predict the weather, but these animals know

(02:29):
the weather. They speak to each other. I'm so fascinated
with the way that the squirrels do talk to the
red cardinals, who talk to the crow, who also then
goes on to get the owl completely out of here,
because that's a bird of prey and that's not too fun.
Who's the bird of prey in your life? Who are
you warned about, day in and day out, paying attention

(02:49):
to all things around you. It could be in a
city park, it could be in your neighborhood. Don't ever
take your eye of everything that's moving around you. I'm errow.
These are not my words. These are the lyrics from
Ernie's Forest.
