Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Arrow On the air, I'm your host Cora O'Donnell,
and today Abbi Bolds will be talking about Wi Fi
issues that have been impacting cemo's campus.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Students across campus have been experiencing ongoing Wi Fi connectivity issues.
These problems are severely impacting students' ability to do exams
and finish coursework. Sophomore Advertising and public relations major Madeline
McCord said that she struggled to stay connected to the
school's Wi Fi.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
I started off like everything was perfectly fine, like I
got right in, got my username password, plugged in, and
then I would go to my next class and it
would disconnect. It would not let me in, or it
would say, oh, like you're connected, but there's no internet,
and so I couldn't get anything. And so I was
trying to flip back and forth from Southeast guests to
the Southeast Secure and neither one of them would work.

(00:46):
So I'd spend the first twenty minutes of a forty
five minute class period trying to connect and get on campus.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
While Wi Fi issues have been frustrating many students, it
manager Todd Williams said that the beginning of the year
is always filled with Wi Fi issues. However, many of
the problems that students are facing could be related to
overloaded Wi Fi access points.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
The more devices that are connected at that time at
any given time can add to those sometimes struggling. And
what they do is the way access points work is
if one in this area that serves, like say this classroom,
gets overwhelmed and can't respond, then it reaches out to

(01:27):
one of the other access points that are nearby and
it takes some of the load. And sometimes when that happens,
someone might drop off and then reconnect because this one
can't handle it, and so this one takes over, and
so there has to be a little bit. It's not
completely seamless.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
With the amount of traffic that Semo's WiFi has, the
IT department is constantly updating to handle the demand for
air on the air. I'm abbe foles.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
In other news, Blake Shulwalter will be previewing Simo's War
of the Wheel game versus SIU on Saturday.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
A tradition that began in twenty eighteen, with the route
dating back to nineteen oh nine continues this Saturday, September twentieth,
twenty twenty five, as the Southeassouri State Red Hawks face
off against the number eleven ranked Southern Illinois Salukies in
the War for the Wheel. The wheel currently resides at
the Red Hawks after reclaiming it via thirty eight to
twenty one victory last season, increasing the Red Hocks lead
in the series five games to three in sima's favor. Now,

(02:22):
the Red Hawks look to claim the Wheel for another
year in front of a packed house stadium during a
Simo's Family weekend. The red Hawks are coming off of
a bruising forty one to fourteen loss to the number
one ranked North of Goota State Bison. Despite an ugly
box score, the Redrocks had a handful of positives. Stay
home Jack's oorow will looks sharp against the formidable Bison defense,
passing for one hundred and forty five yards, a touchdown
and no turnovers. Wide receiver Calvin Gilbert had a great

(02:45):
game through the air, making the most out of his
two receptions that went for sixty seven yards and a touchdown.
As for Southern Illinois, they're coming off a big win
against OBC rival U. T. Martin, beating the Skyhawks handily
by a score thirty seven. To ten. SIU quarterback d J.
Williams had a big day, but not necessarily through the air.
Williams punished the Skyhawk defense with his rushing ability, racking
up one hundred and twenty eight yards in three touchdowns

(03:06):
on the ground. The SAU defense continue their dominant start
with twenty twenty five season, forcing two turnovers against the
Skyhawks to bring their total turnovers to eight on the air.
Heading into this weekend's matchup, Siamo's biggest concern lies on
the defensive side of the ball. After surrendering a staggering
five hundred and sixty four yards of total offense to
North Kota State, the Throadocks will need a major turnaround
to contain a high powered SAU offense that averages three

(03:29):
hundred and eighty six point three yards per game. Leading
the charge to the Slukies is a dual threat quarterback
DJ Williams. Williams contains the ability to punish opposing defenses
through the air and on the ground, racking up six
hundred and forty six yards through the air with an
additional one hundred and sixty five yards on the ground,
accounting for ten total touchdowns this season, Cimo's offense will
most likely once again try to center around its rushing attack.

(03:51):
The Sau defense has found success in stop in the run,
allowing an average of just one hundred and thirteen rushing
yards per game. But for Semo, they feature a talented
trio in the backfield featuring Peyton Brown, Cole Ruble, and
Brandon Epton Junr, who have a mass two hundred ninety
seven yards so at the first three weeks of the season.
If the red Ox can keep the chance moving by
controlling the trenches while limiting us I use offense possessions,
their chances of steering Saded and dance game in their

(04:13):
favor will greatly improve. From the Southeast Arrow, I'm Blake Showalter.
