SEMO to the Stars and Canvas Come-Apart

This episode of Arrow on the Air, hosted by News and Culture Editor Abby Volz, iturns the first story in our newscast over to Arrow reporter Cora O’Donnell. Cora features a story about SEMO’s Astronomy club, and Astro SEMO hosted an observation event on October 21st at Vollink Observatory.
Following that, Abby covered a previously breaking news story about Amazon Web Services (AWS), which experienced a global internet outage on October 20. The related Canvas outage caused disruptions for SEMO students and faculty.

Welcome to Arrow on the Air. I'm your host Addie Bowles,
and today coor O'Donnell will be talking about the Astrosimo
observation at Bowlink Observatory.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Simo's Astronomy Club and Astro Simo hosted an observation event
on October twenty first at Bowlink Observatory. Students and community
members were able to view debreed left by Haley's comment
and commet Lemon, which was discovered earlier this year. Saturn
and its moons were also visible from the observatory. President
of the Astronomy Club, Matti Broton, hoped that students could

learn from the stargazing event.

I I mean personally, I hope that they just learned
to appreciate the sky around them a little bit more
like we're so busy here down on Earth who never
stopped to can look up and consider all around us.

November three through November seventh is Space Week, where more
events will be hosted by Simo College of Stem. For

In other news, Amazon wireless services went down in a
global Internet adage on October twentieth. Atage made several online
services unavailable such as Canvas, Snapchat, and Fortnite. It also
caused disruptions to US airlines Delta and United. The Canvas
adage caused disruptions for SIMO students and faculty. Freshman Art
major Chloe Weissenborn was unable to take a test in

one of her classes.

Yeah. Actually, my first class was at eight am and
we had a test and we couldn't take it because
it's all on the computer, so we had to move
it until Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
The outage took approximately sixteen hours to fix and was
finally resolved around five h one pm Central time. The
damage of this adage could reach hundreds of billions of dollars.
