and mister Vincent is a savvy senior. He has released a book titled

the world that you would like, whomever is your favorite book retailer. You
can order that book right now andget your copy. But we do have

(27:15):
mister Benson here with us. MisterVincent Johnson, how are you doing today?
Oh, I'm doing greedy. I'mreally you know, on top of
things, and I'm feeling good. How about yourself doing well? Of course,
on behalf of the entire staff hereat Articulation Radio, I want to
take the time to say, notonly am I got in stage proud of

(27:37):
you, Milwaukee man is proud ofyou. Our entire staff, our listeners
are all proud of you. Andmy very first question for you is how
old are you and how are youable to be age defiant? That's interesting,
Well, in nineteen forty sixth Januarysecond, my mother brought me into

(28:03):
the world, so that makes meabout to turn seventy eight officially on January
second next year. And one ofthe things, well, part of what
I do on a regular basis isto pace myself. You know, I

(28:30):
still work my body physically. Ido push ups most of the time.
In the morning, I ride stillride my back. I do a lot
of walking. I drink a lotof water. I consider myself a super
square, which I define this way, someone who likes to get along,

(28:52):
does not mind helping others, watchingwhat I eat and drink uh and miss
see what else, and and learning. You know, I'm like this,
uh, this great man. Hisname is Nearly Fuller. He's in his
nineties now, and when they askhim how is he doing, he said,

(29:17):
I'm still learning. You know.I'm trying to imitate his voice,
but I'm pretty much the same way. I see life as a continual opportunity
to learn. I don't think that, yeah, and probably that's partly why

(29:37):
I am the way I am.I don't think age. Yeah, age,
Frian, I don't think in termsof age. My favorite line is
this, as long as I can, I will, all right, And
that they do. And I understandthat you have for your very first book
that number one. You know,we often hear where people are like,

(30:02):
oh, yeah, you know,I've been working on my book X number
of years blah blah blah, AndI understand that you have quotations. Your
first book is book of quotations, and that you're currently working on your second
book, which is a book ofpoetry, but from your first book that
is released, the book of Whatyou Know, the book titled What My

(30:22):
Apologies, What Them Honors All Truth? By Benson L. Johnson. Now,
with that, I understand that prettymuch, even though it's decades of
work, that when you actually startedyour publishing process, that you were able
to get your book literally finished ina matter of I would say days,

(30:45):
you know, a couple of weeksmax, like a week and a half,
but that you've already had your booksigning here back on December ninth,
that your book came out in October. No, No, you had your
the e book in October, theprinted book in November, and you had
your first book signing at Uncle Julio's. You had a private dining sign event

(31:11):
and art three events I think itwas, what was it called Summertime?
Yes? Yes, yes, Anddo you have any other events because I
know that of course, you knowlisteners will be hearing this and I'm even
talking to you past the event. So do you have any upcoming events for

(31:32):
twenty twenty four that people can maybekeep their ears and eyes tuned for well,
I have some different places. Thelibrary here on the north side,
located on Division Street in Orleans andDivision. I'm thinking about doing an event

(31:52):
up and there. I haven't yetfigured out exactly how I want that to
go. Also, I have otherpeople who want me to do a book
signing. One of the places isa senior place located on lair Ba.
I'm not sure, okay, Soa couple of places, a public library,

(32:17):
a senior facility. So I'm asenior residential complex. And so for
anyone else who wants to, youknow, say, have you to come
and you know, not only haveyour signings there, but to even read
some of your quotations from there,or even if by that time you have

(32:37):
your second book out, they wantyou to come and you know, read
your poetry. Is it your websitehurtlep dot com. That is the best
way to reach you, Yeah, that's the best way. It has my
phone number, my email address, yes, okay, and I can be

(33:00):
reached at any time if anyone caresto get in touch. A great and
did you have any I would say, when it comes down to because I
know that with your having lived awhole seventy seven years and I'm about to
have a whole seventy eight years completedand start on your seventy ninth year.

(33:24):
What is there that you see thatis a pressing matter today? And well,
my second party question, I'll say, what is there today that you
see as a pressing matter? Andwhat message would you like for people to
hear from your heart on how theycan address that and move forward and be

(33:46):
them and achieve their goals no matterwhat. Because you know how a lot
of people are like, oh,well, I want to do a book,
but you know it's once I getthis done, or once this happens,
or once I get this money,or once I get this time.
You know, it's always something. So what would what is there that you
see that may be holding people back, and how would you encourage them to

(34:08):
push through that? I would simplysay to not let anything discourage them,
regardless of what it is. Ifyou have something in your heart or in
your mind that you would like toshare with the world, regardless of how

(34:30):
unseemly things may be, okay,to not let that discourage you. To
go full speed ahead, as thatold saying says, and just stick with
it. And a lot of timesin the process of doing that things will
come together. None of us knowhow things are going to happen. But

(34:54):
as long as we don't give upon ourselves and what we have committed our
self else too, I think alot of times, uh, we will
find that things will work out.Of course, there's no guarantees, but
I say, using myself as anexample, Uh, I uh just followed

(35:16):
my spirit. You know, Icontinue to write, and I'm I'm still
writing and uh. And you know, I got fortunate where I met the
right person at the right time, and I had the book already set and
ready to go. So I'm justsimply saying, to make a long thing

(35:37):
short, Uh, don't give upon yourself, regardless of the criticism or
the or the disappointments, uh,whatever it may be, to not give
up on yourself, to you know, to stay determined. Uh. And
and and that's that's about it,you know, regardless whatever field is in.

(35:58):
And another thing I would like toadd, right, it saddens me,
well, okay, it saddens mewhen I think about as a people.
When I say as a people,I'm speaking of all so called black
people. I say so called becauseyou know, there are different questions about
that. But nonetheless there is originalindigenous Hebrews or like whatever person identifies as,

(36:22):
but anyone that's part of the Africandiaspora. Okay, yes, well
put and one of the things thatI mean, there are many things that
saddened me, but one of themajor things that saden me as a people.
We have people who have been fortunateenough to come into large sums of

(36:44):
money or whatever, and yet whenI look around me, there are no
food sources. We don't have controlof none of our food sources. And
that's just not right at this latedate, so to speak. I know,
when I was coming up as aboy, we had all kinds of
grocery stores and other kind of businesses, and now it seems like, uh,

(37:07):
there's not the kind of interest thatit ought to be in those areas.
Is what we are hearing right now, like a little tidbit of what
may be a book three where it'llbe your first book of pros and we'll
get to hear about, you know, some of your commentary on you know,

(37:28):
not only some of the problems thatplague our communities, but also some
solutions for them. Because I'm surethat just like you've identified that give them
a taste real quick of just somethingright off the top of your brain that
you know could be a solution toremedy the problem you just identified with the
lack of food resources healthy food resources. Okay, Well, I'm gonna quote

(37:52):
the late great Kwami two a whochoose to be known as Stokely Comade,
though before he transitioned he put alot of emphasis on organizing. Okay,
Uh, if people are interested enough, we uh should have a way of

(38:14):
coming together and organizing, I meancoming together and discussing the matter or considering
different solutions, ideals, whatever youknow, and and out of that come
up with something that would be uhworkable in that direction. Okay, yes,

(38:37):
yes, I agree, I agreedefinitely, and so so can we
expect? Then after the the secondbook, that book of poetry, a
book of prose from you or amI kind of you know, going in
the wrong direction there? Well,I wouldn't put it past me, but

(39:01):
you know, I must admit,I must admen I'm avoided individual and uh
it may be some poetic probs okay, and now, and I understand too,
because the reason why I couldn't helpbut kind of go down that tangent
and I know your time is tight, so yes, sir, you know
we will be wrapping this up shortly. But I know that you know well

(39:23):
I heard, and you know youcan hear anything you know may or may
not be true, but usually somesome kind of truth up in it.
But I heard that you are alsogoing to be starting your own podcast soon.
Do you if that truth? Andif so, do you already have
a name for your podcast? No, that's true what you say, but

(39:47):
I get to uh figure out aname. I haven't yet settled upon name.
Stay tuned, go, stay goingto turtlelip dot com, t U
R T L E l I Tdot com. And my apology for those
of you who are just tuning inyou are listening to Articulation Radio. My

(40:08):
name is Goddess Stage and I knowI should have long said that, but
again my apology. You know I'vebeen on a hiatus. You know our
staff has been. We've been ona hiatus. We've enjoyed it. But
we're back people, We're back. And thank God for those of you who
are loyal listeners, who were likewho literally were calling, sending emails,

(40:30):
even dropping things on other things onFacebook, saying you know when is the
next podcast? Let me know youknow when is Articulation Radio coming back.
So we are back and thank youall so much for the love, and
we love you so much, loveyou so much, Soul that when we
came back, our first episode backwas making sure that you knew about mister

(40:51):
Vincent Johnson, the author of WhatWisdom Honors All Truth? So head on
over to Turtlelips dot com to youR T L E L I P dot
com. Or if you're like,oh, well, you know I get
everything from such and so and soand so, go to such and such
and so and so and get wh A T by Vincent L. Johnson

(41:13):
Wisdom Honors All Truth. They're gonnahave it too. It's published worldwide.
You can get it from Amazon, you can get it from your corner store,
your corner bookstore, you can getit from anywhere. You can especially
get it from turtlelip dot com,the archer's own website. And he is
a Sabby senior and an active senior. When I tell you, mister Vinson,
tell him how many push you didthis morning? I did eighty straight

(41:37):
push ups real and I didn't cheateither. I did mister Yes, tell
him. Tell them like when you'renormally on a nice day, if someone
sees you out and about, areyou catching a bus or taxis or are
you riding a bicycle? And probablywe're going to be going from North Chicago

(41:59):
to South Chicago on the trail,no doubt the bank. You know,
it's more than like you. Moreoften than not, you will see.
I'm telling y'all, y'all want somebodyit's this man, mister Benson. Before
I ask you my very last question, I would like for you to just
give them some nuggets. You know, read anything that you would like to

(42:20):
Just give them a couple of littlequotations, you know, one or two
whatever you know your eyes fall onand give them a taste of what.
Because people when I tell you thesequotes and even the way he's organized them,
this is what you want. Likeif you especially if you're a person
who you know you're like motivating peopleand encouraging others. And even if you

(42:42):
find that you're giving the same messagesto other people, you really want to
give up on them. You ain'tgot to give up. Baby whip out
this book. He even has it'swhere it's organized to where if there's a
certain type of topics. There arequotes that you can head straight to for
there. It's like what like twohundred and three hundred and something close.
But yeah, he's gonna share. So, mister Vincent, whatever you're led

(43:06):
to share with them, you know, just share you know, one or
two of them with them and thenI'll I'll move forward for you and let
you enjoy the rest of your evenings. Okay. Uh, just off the
top of my mind, and tellingjust with our self. Discipline is like
ignorance in disguise, okay. Andthat's one of the things that I have

(43:28):
lived by for many years. Okay. Also, and they're cable, read
one of the ones from your bookand let them know which number it is,
so that that way you know thatthey'll know. So read a couple
from your book and let them knowthe number. Okay, Well, I
can do one. It's a littlebit. It's number thirty eight. It's

(43:53):
one of the favorite ones I doa lot of times when I'm out and
about. Let no outside force ordistraction or any kind of flat become a
source of negative action that holds youback. The others fall short and play
you. For sports, try notto falter, flee or take flight.

(44:13):
Try not to alter what you knowto be raised. Let COmON sense give
you pause to find the strength toback your cause so you can maintain and
not complain. Let also, whateveryour level of self worth and peace,
know that demon or devil schemes nevercease. That sometimes you find kind is

(44:34):
not kind who smile in your face, but not in good taste. So
God your words like a treasure withself reserve and good measure, always on
part and ready to base the warrioryou are to make your case. And
that's verse thirty eight in the Inthe book I wrote, Also, and

(44:55):
people, you know you want somebodythat it's not us enough you somebody you
want somebody ask what w h At wisdom honors all truth by Vinson L.

(45:17):
get your copyright now. You wantthis, you need this. I got
mine, you know, and againanother one of those quotes from Mississippi.
I got mine. It's up toyou to get yours, you know.
So anyway, people, you wantthis turtlelip dot com my very last question
for you, mister Vincent Johnson, who I love calling now he's now my

(45:40):
uncle Vinnie, y'all. So,Uncle Vann, is my very last question
to you. What is there thatyou've not had an opportunity to express to
the listeners of Articulation Radio that you'dlike to share with them? Now?
Oh wow, oh let's see,Well that's I would like to I would

(46:12):
like to say that more of ushow to take a or give how we
eat and drink some thought, becausemany of us wind up prematurely ill as
a result of the way we eat. We have been programmed to eat a

(46:36):
certain way, which is understandable whenyou look back at some of the things
that have taken place over the yearsand this society as a whole, it's
constantly encouraging us to eat the wrongway. And I think more of us
should really be more thought for aboutwhat we eat. I know a lot

(47:01):
of these different foods. They tastegood, look good, smell good,
all that stuff, you know,But is that what we really should be
eating or drinking? You know? And where creatures are habit by nature,
I understand we can become addicted toanything, okay, but I put emphasis

(47:22):
on that because I see so manypeople who have come up with me who
have fallen prey to to to thebad eating and drinking and all the rest
of it. And I think thereason I'm able to do the amount of
pushups I do because I practice astrict discipline over myself as far as what

(47:45):
I eat and drink. I'm nottrying to dictate anything to anyone. Everybody
do like they want to do.I got that. But at the same
time, if you really care aboutyourself, as you say, then it
should be more attention, okay,in what we put in our bodies.

(48:07):
So it's not only for the physicalthings, you know, but even you
know the things that you have toreally be careful what you listen to,
what you watch, what you eventhe people the company that you keep.
You know, and I know we'reall raised different ways and we believe different
things. But despite how you wereraised, if as an adult you see

(48:32):
that there is a deficit in yourlife and you know that there are ways
that you can fill the gaps, then it's incumbing up on you to have
that business for you. You canno longer blame your mother, your father,
whomever raised you, or whomever wasnot around or whatever you did or

(48:55):
didn't get, you know, asan adult, it's your job to make
sure that you get what you're supposedto get and that you give what you're
supposed to give. And mainly you'renot supposed to be expecting any more from
anyone than what you're willing to give, not only to that person, but
mainly first to yourself, because atthe end of the day, it's how

(49:17):
you treat yourself is what is goingto be the standard of how you allow
other people to treat you. Andif you have it to where you already
are denying your self things because ofwhatever reason you say, because of whatever
outside force, that means you're nottaking control. You're always supposed to do

(49:38):
what you are able to do,just like Benson Johnson does. So if
you want to have a result likeBenson Johnson, you want to have a
life like Benson Johnson. You wantto be able to be your best at
no matter what age, and beable to have to wear the same things
that you were able to do whenyou were younger than now that you can't

(49:59):
even do right now because you hadn'tbeen taking care of yourself and you haven't
been fully expressing yourself. You cando and you can have that same life
like Vincent Johnson. But that meansthat you're gonna have to walk that same
walk like Vincent Johnson. That meansyou're gonna have to take care of yourself.
You're gonna have to have it towear. Whenever there's a message you've

(50:19):
been assigned to share, you gotto share that. You can't keep having
it to where you're like, oh, I can't affoid it. I ain't
got time. I got so yetyou want what other people have, but
you're not willing to put in thework that they've put in. It's time
out for that, time out forthat. And yeah, I know I've

(50:42):
never gone in on you all likethis before, but the hiatus was for
a reason, all right, Soit's time for everybody right now. You
choose what side you're gonna be on. You walk the walk you're gonna walk,
and just know that if what youchoose to do is contradictory to what

(51:07):
someone else chooses to do, youare in violation if you try to make
them accept your lesser life instead ofyou rising up to their greater life.
So either you're going to do itor you're not, but for those of
us who are doing it, wegonna keep celebrating. You could call it
bragging, you can call it narcissistic, but we understand that you will say

(51:30):
anything to make yourself feel better aboutnot doing what you know you need to
do, instead of celebrating the factthat we're doing what we need to do.
But we don't need you to celebratewith us because we're not those who
need any outside validation because we doeverything because we're connected. We know who
we are, we know who weare, we know what we're here to

(51:52):
do, and if you are apart of us, you're already there too,
so we celebrate you too and allof your achievements. Mister Vincent,
thank you so much for coming ontoArticulation Radio. You know you family,
Uncle Vinnie. You're welcome here anytime, and whenever you release your second work,

I know I've gone way over time. Mister Vincent, thank you so much,
Uncle Vinnie, for your time andfor your wisdom, for your work,

(52:34):
for pushing through, for investing thosedollars I know, especially in your
budget. You know it was moreof a sacrifice for you than it is
for the people who claim they can'tdo it, but yet they can go
in every week by whatever particular thinginstead of actually investing the funds into doing
the things that they know will helptheir family, help their lives. But

(52:57):
you, thank you for becoming andimmortal and establishing your legacy and making sure
that even when you are not hereto speak your words, that for generations
to come and for hundreds of yearsthousands of years to come, people can
always access your exact words. Youhave a legacy that is irretractable. And

(53:19):
congratulations to you, and thank youfor coming on to Articulation Radios. And
before before you let me go,I'd like to cap off what you just
said with two little small quotes. There's no greater prison but the one we
live in that blinds our vision beforewe even begin. And then the other

(53:43):
one, knowledge of self opens oureyes. But discipline and logic makes us
wade. Okay, yes, yes, people will get some of this.
Head over to turtlelift dot com rightnow and reserve your copy of W A
