studio Sunchild Wind Spirit. First ofall, we would like to welcome you
to the show. Thank you forall of your creative works. I want

(20:33):
to talk to you about not onlyyour creative designs that you've won awards for.
I want to also talk about thenew partner that you're working with there
on your design team that you allhave, the mister Swerving from Tennessee.
And I want to also dive intoyour book, that coffee table book,

(20:56):
which I do have and I love, so I guess first I will start
there. What was your inspiration behindyour coffee table book and how is the
best way for others to get it? Of course I got mine from Amazon,
but can people get it anywhere? And yeah, yeah, let them
know about your coffee table book, the inspiration behind it, where they can

(21:18):
get it, all that good stuff. Thank you for having me. Always
a pleasure to be among such greatpeople. But of course I and thank
you also to the listeners of ArticulationRadio. I appreciate you all and your
time as well and your energy.Thank you. But yes, my book

(21:40):
is titled Black Ladies, Girls,Queens and Goddesses. It is a coffee
table book. It's available in paperbackand hardback and people are able to purchase
it from any book retailer worldwide.Yes, they can get it from Amazon,
they can get it from anywhere. All they have to do is men
the title and Arthur. Of course, Arthur named sun Child Wind Spirit.

(22:03):
Yeah, forename sun Child Wind Spiritbecause that's who I am, you know,
That's what I am, you know, So Sunchild Wind Spirit. And
of course the book itself is BlackLadies, Girls, queens and goddesses,
and I do plan on doing onefocused around the black men, but I

(22:26):
want to have it to wear firstto of course, you know, with
this one, I wanted it tohave it to wear people have what I
call a piece of the journey throughthe Black experience, and with it,
at least so far, the feedbackhas been positive. I'm thankful I was

(22:47):
one of the first people to startplaying around with AI and able to help
train it to be even years ago, had even but anyway, but yeah,
thankful who have been on the forefrontof the AI and this book shows
where, yes, you know, there's still some kinks to be worked out,

(23:10):
but beautiful. Different scenes represent blackwomen from a lot of different backgrounds,
with a lot of different experiences anda lot of different situations. So
it literally shows that in a lotof different statuses. So it's if you
can think of the type of blackwoman, chances are I have an image

(23:32):
of her or someone who looks likeher, or that situation they're in the
book. So definitely some of everythingrelated to Black Ladies, Girls, queens
and Goddesses, the Voyage through theBlack Fantastic. I say, you know,
and I misspoke earlier, but yeah, black Ladies, Girls, Queens

(23:57):
and Goddesses part of the first installmentof the Voyage through the Black Fantastic.
And that hardback is definitely what youwant to do. That's well, you
can get the paperback if you want, but yeah, that heartback is definitely

(24:19):
worth it. That's what I got. I love it. You all did
a great job, you and theteam. I know that your work is
published through be published dot org,and I already know you've released as far
as your work with your apparel andeverything that is through Jefferson Taylor dot Club.

(24:40):
So tell me a little bit aboutthe awards that you've won for your
fashion designs. That's available there atJefferson Taylor dot club. And for those
of you tuning in, of courseyou are listening to Articulation Radio, I'm
talking to sunchildwind Spirit. She's anArthur, she's an artist, she's a
and had art exhibitions. She's createdsome wonderful apparel and footwear that you can

(25:07):
get. It's very high end andexclusive. If you're looking for a new
black label to support Jefferson Taylor DotClub is definitely it. But Sunchild Winn
Spirit, tell me a bit aboutyour awards that you've won for your footwear
designs and your peril designs, andalso talk to us a bit about your

(25:33):
artwork in general, and even likewhen you first did your first art exhibition,
so you know, throw those thingsout there at us. Okay,
well I'll answer them in reverse.First, talk about how I got started
being an artist. Literally, itwas back in what like two thousand when

(25:56):
I was laid off from a recruitingjob and the people were so apologetic,
and I'm like, no, youknow, I've been wanting to draw and
paint and I don't know how,and this is perfect. So that that
way, yeah, I can headover to Michael's now and get my supplies.
And so that's what I did.And by the time I would say
I came out of my trance,I had my first sketch and my very

(26:21):
first painting, and those are actualthings that are still available today. I
have they're still even can be seenon my website. But but I it's
under construction, so I won't sharethat right now. So don't even I
see, you know, but no, no, no, But later I'll
come back and do all of that. But as far as my artwork,
I do have some on apparel, you know, different things from robes,

(26:47):
togas, dresses as well as ofcourse, then from there went into creating
my own little line of apparel thateven includes like denim jackets, t shirts,
things that I want to win,and of course like wearing things that
are comfortable but high quality and thatyou know, bear my own brand and
logo, and of course and thenand that's when I was of course through

(27:12):
you know, after Jefferson Taylor, everything was in place. That was when
I had gone through and created theshoes, and yes, was able to
win nine different design awards for myfootwear and I was very pleased with that
and have even sold several different ofthe designs, not all nine of them

(27:36):
have well I have a to wellanyway, not all the shoes or clothes
that i've sold or that I haveavailable, have people actually purchased, but
definitely enough to wear. I'm thankfulfor those who have and everyone is very
pleased, and even I am especiallyhappy when there are moments I'm wearing my

(27:56):
stuff and people are like, oh, I like those shoes or I like
that, and I'm like, oh, thank you, it's mine, you
know. Jefferson Taylor Line, Idesigned it myself. And oh. In
the art exhibitions, I used todo them when I was in Dallas.
I now live in Chicago, butwhen I was living in Dallas was when

(28:17):
I first did my art expo,my first art exposition, and I had
even partnered with another artist, andwe were the ones who had actually started
the I don't know if you remember, like in the early two thousand,
Starbucks did this campaign called the Artof Coffee, and it was myself in
Goops Sun Chow Win Spiriting Goops thatactually kicked that off. And it was
because of the work that we weredoing in Dallas doing our shows. We

(28:41):
were renting out different venues, evennightclubs. We would have them rented during
the daytime, having our exposed. We would have them in parks, all
kinds of things, we would joinin with other people doing their thing.
You know, we made it apoint, to my apology for that,
we made it a point to notonly set up our own events, but

(29:03):
also to get involved with other eventsas well, and to network with businesses
in the community. And that's howwe were able to connect with Starbucks,
and after us doing a series ofshows under that name, it somehow,
I guess got back to the corporateoffice of Starbucks and so that's when,
Yeah, the Art of Coffee endedup going nationwide. So yeah, I

(29:29):
would encourage anybody who you know,if you have that interest or that desire
in you is probably because that giftor that talent is in you too,
So go ahead and explore it,go for it. You know, most
death, most death all around. And so and let me ask you this.

(29:52):
And I love that you went intoand answered every lesson one of those
for me, because yeah, thatsaved me from having to repeat the question.
And because you know, I'm takinga page out of god to Sage's
book, Toriz, like, Iain't gonna let you skate around with question,
especially being that I don't get achance to interview people off and you
know, because I'm usually just spendingthe records. But let me ask you
this real quick now, when youwent through and did the designs and your

(30:19):
first few people gave you feedback, what was that like? What were some
of the things that you heard?Well, a lot of different things,
is what it was like, becauseat first I was honestly surprised that because
I'm not used to people, youknow, despite the fact, well you'll

(30:40):
probably know how it is. Youknow, when you help a lot of
people do things for people, peopleusually aren't there to support you and be
there for you like that, youknow, even when you put it out
there and give them a chance. So yes, I was so surprised to
see that there were people who supportedit, not only people I knew,
but then surprised again for people thatI didn't know to give my products a

(31:03):
chance and give me a chance onthat level, and then to have it
to we're on top of that,to hear the feedback where they received product,
they enjoyed it. One person waslike it even helped him to be
able to walk better, things likethat. It yeah, it was very
therapeutic and that you know, andhe has this certain but it's just yeah,
definitely thankful, you know, surprisedat first, even more surprised after

(31:29):
that, and then overwhelmed with gratitudeand thanksgiving. And that's when, of
course, you know, I waseven more eager, like, you know,
I haven't had my stuff, sothen there was the moment where I
was anxious, you know, soyeah, and then once I got mine,
it's like, oh, I seewhat they're talking about these do they
look good? They feel good? You know, So definitely thankful for being

(31:51):
able to connect with the companies thatI did to put out the high quality
products I have. And and thenof course there was also a few people
who were like, oh, theseare priced so high. I only spend
this kind of money for this certainbrand, and I let them know what,
that's fine, you know, andmaybe eventually one day you will feel
like my stuff is worth your spendingthat amount on me too. But I

(32:14):
understand, you know, I haveto be around for a while, and
you know, my products keep evolvingand or even just stand the test of
time. And then those people whofeel like it's not worth what it's listed
as and they don't want to giveit a try, then no problem.
But as we know, those peoplewho money is not a factor for and

(32:35):
they want to support you or youknow, people who can just afford it
in general, you know, oryou know, whatever, it all works
out. So everything has been good. It's it's all been good. And
as you see, I'm just cheesingso wide, so happy, like yeah,
I'm thankful. I'm thankful. That'sso lovely to hear. And now
tell me about this other designer whoyou all have added to the team there

(33:00):
at Jefferson Taylor Swerving from Tennessee. That's suburbing, irving, yes, yes,
suburban. Let me tell you aboutmister Swerving. Now, this creative
does some of everything from like interiordesign to fashion design, but it is
of course for his fashion design thathe's added to the team there at Jefferson

(33:24):
Taylor. And when I tell youpeople head over to Jefferson Taylor dot Club
right now, because yes, youwill be able to see his ethnic centric,
ethnic centered bespoke items and definitely afrocentricthings that are African American field spirit

(33:45):
filled items you know, placed withdenim. And he has dresses, he
has pants sets, he has thingsthat are you know, not not everything
is denim, you know. Hehas some things that are you know other
fabrics as well, even linen, you name it, he can create it

(34:07):
for you. It is. Andhe has already from just the start,
has already gotten so many orders towear no exaggeration, even though twenty twenty
four just started. His plans wereto come to Chicago for fashion Week,
and you know we were going toand thus you know the whole fashion week
thing, you know. But yes, any products that anyone decides that they

(34:32):
would like to get from Jefferson TaylorDot Club, they do still have time
to place those orders. But onlythe things that are currently available through Swerving
would you be able to get.No bespoke orders will be able to be
placed for Swerving this year. Notuntil January of twenty twenty five will he

(34:53):
start taking new orders, because he'sall ready yes, he has already gotten
filled up with custom orders for apparel. So he's already booked for the rest
of this year. And so definitelygo back to Jefferson Taylor Dot Club sign
up, even shoot messages. Wemay even have to have it to where

(35:16):
we start a waitlist, and we'llalways let you all know whatever the fee
would be to get on that weightlist so that you can be among the
first people to be able to getsome of the twenty twenty five bespoke pieces
that Swerving will be creating for theclients that come through. But of course
we do have it to wear hispieces that are already available, as well

(35:38):
as the pieces from myself that areavailable. You can go in and place
those order now, from footwear toapparel. You'll be able to get some
of everything right now from Jefferson TaylorDot Club and those items that will be
ordered from our company if you choose, if you would choose to pick them

(35:59):
up instead of to have them delivered, then that's when they will be shipped
to myself and I will have itto where I meet you down at fashion
Week, and we will just setan exact day and time that we will
gather there, and that's when ourexact meeting place there will be discussed.
And yes, I will have yourstuff with me, and yes you can

(36:20):
pick it up during Chicago Fashion Week, your designs from sun chowin Spirit as
well as Swerving. That's what's upright there. People, you heard it
