Our Seculation Radio is very pleased to have with us today.

Speaker 21 (23:10):
People.

Speaker 28 (23:10):
The Arthur the Poet, Chicago's bicycle poet, mister Vincent L.
Johnson is on the line with us today and we
will be talking to him about his brand new book,
Cycling Through Systems. It is his very first book of
pros and people, if you're like, well, you know, I
would love to support him. I know he's a wonderful senior,

(23:30):
so exemplary, but I'm not into poetry. He has a
quote unquote regular book for you and it is giving
you the messages that you wanted. We're going to dive
into it. Mister Vincent Johnson, how are you doing today?

Speaker 21 (23:43):
Ah, it's gonna be expected as we see.

Speaker 28 (23:46):
Yes, sir, and tell us real quick because I know
your time is very short. But the listeners want to
know about this Cycling Through Systems. This is your fourth book,
it's your first book of prose. And tell us about
some of the messages that people can expect. What systems
are you helping them to cycle through, and what are

(24:07):
some of the tips that you give them in this book.

Speaker 21 (24:10):
Well, the main tip I can give anyone is to
be themselves, regardless of whether it's in approval with other
people or not. Be yourself. Do not go out of
your way to try to be something that you know
you're not. It never works out for the better when
you do that. Just focus on whatever you can to

(24:35):
improve who you are.

Speaker 6 (24:37):
And.

Speaker 21 (24:40):
When there's times to when there's a time to do
things that can help other people to do so. Okay,
now not all of us are going to be on board,
as we know, but we don't need to worry about
that though. Just focus on what we're trying to do
and be true to yourself in the process. That's what's happening.

(25:04):
I know that even at my age I'm almost eighty
years old, I still find myself making improvements because I
always feel like there's something I can do better, something
more I can learn, something I can be a benefit
with other people. I'm always doing as the sun itself does. Okay,

(25:31):
the sun never takes any time off as far as
I know, all Right, it's there, and that's the way
I try to be. I try to pattern myself after
the sun. There are many things that go on in
this life that's natural, as we know, the way things grow,
we grow, and there's things that we can learn from

(25:54):
it that can be a big help as we find
ourselves faced with all respected challenges, when we're going through
times when when that happen, to not be in our favor,
and to not let these things become an obstacle, you know,

(26:15):
to always look for the posity the other side, something
we can do that can make a difference eventually. And
and keep in mind, as we say to each other,
no one is perfect, all right, So if we mess
up now I nen okay, all right, you know, all right,

(26:37):
but it happens, all right. But we don't have to
let that become a constant, you know. It's just like
anything else that goes on in life. Sometimes the weather
is a certain way and we'll please and sometimes it's not.
But I've developed a philosophy that allows me to to,

(27:00):
uh take everything in stride, Okay, whatever is going on,
I try to be positive and whether other people are
in a quarter or not, to not let that uh
influence me into something negative. All right, that's the thing,
that's the challenge, that's the constant challenge. Uh. And uh,

(27:24):
something more I think we need to pay attention to
is our health, what we put in our bodies, what
we drink, what we eat, because that has a great
deal to do with our our whole disposition. Uh. Sometimes
we don't make that connection. We don't acknowledge that the
way we should, especially in a society that's constantly uh

(27:51):
gifting us with different smells and tastes. Okay, I mean, yeah,
you know a lot of this fast stuff. It's very tasty,
very attractive, but it's not no good for us now
if we want to be true to ourselves, to take

(28:11):
more responsibility, to try to be stronger about resisting these temptations.
I don't mean to get carried away with it, because
each on us have our own journey, and just because
we don't do it the same way does not necessarily
mean it's wrong. We each have our own way of

(28:32):
looking at things and doing things, and hopefully we don't
feel any less significant or as far as who we
are just because we don't have a lot of possessions
or we've been a lot of places with it. It
doesn't mean that we any less than anyone else as

(28:53):
far as I can tell, right.

Speaker 28 (28:57):
And with Cycling Through Systems. And for those of you
who are just tuning in, my name is Goddish Stage
and I am interviewing the Arthur Vincent L. Johnson. He's
a poet in Chicago. He's also an avid cyclist. He's
known as the bicycle poet in Chicago. And his first

(29:21):
three books were released. They are under the What series
W H A T. And you can find not only
those first three poetry books, but also his fourth book,
which is his first book of prose there and it's
titled Cycling Through Systems. You can find it on his
website turtlelip dot com t U R T L E

(29:44):
l I P dot co O M turtlelip dot com.
You'll be able to find all four of these great
works and not only will be able to learn lessons
from them, but will also have things that you think validated,
things that you think and even do questioned. You'll have

(30:05):
it's so much, so many. There will be moments that
you can read things you will literally laugh, You literally
will experience the gamut of emotions when going through reading
his poetry. There is wisdom in every single poem as
well as throughout this work Cycling Through Systems. And even
though it is not a work of poetry, the prose

(30:29):
does include a few poems in them, and some of
them are poems that have been included in the What
Favorites that third book, But there are a couple of
poems that are in there that have not previously been
published in any work. So you'll be for those of
you who do love the poetry and you're like, well,
I gotta have some of his poetry, you're going to

(30:50):
be getting that in Cycling Through Systems as well. And now,
mister Johnson, let me ask you real quick. Now, I
know there are some people who are like, well, it's
just so much on me, all these different systems, all
these different things that I'm having to fight through. You know,
it's too much. It feels overwhelming, and you know, it's
hard to stay positive, and it's hard to stay focused

(31:13):
on my goals, or it's hard to find people who
can help me do what I'm trying to do. You know,
they have all these different reasons why they cannot just
take that time to themselves and perform that introspection and
sacrifice that time or you know, whatever it is to
get what they need for themselves. What is there that

(31:36):
you would say to those who feel like they're not
quite ready yet to cycle through systems? What would you
say to encourage them to go ahead and grab this
book that it is for them too and can meet
them no matter what level they're at and help them
grow well.

Speaker 21 (31:52):
If they are looking for positive messages, design to uh
encourage uh uh to to to not give up uh
it just because things are not going our way. Uh

(32:16):
I know I'm being general about this, but uh sometimes
we get discouraged because someone we were counting on let
us down, or something we were trying to achieve or
didn't turn out the way we were looking forward to.
Uh to somehow remember that if there's always more to learn,

(32:39):
there's always more to notice as our as we go
through this life that we can make of in some
way or another that will benefit us in the long run.
I hope I'm not being vague about this the way
I put things, because that's the poet in me. I

(33:00):
have a tendency of putting things in a way that's
not something people normally here put.

Speaker 28 (33:05):
Okay, now it's understandable exclusive Okay, So what I do
I can only see for myself. Of course, when I
find myself a little down, I.

Speaker 21 (33:21):
Just you know, I go to that place, my spiritual
world I call it, and I trust in it. I
just know somehow that as long as I remain righteous,
things are going to work out. That's the main thing.
To not let the terrible things we sometimes experience become

(33:49):
an obstacle of any kind that blocks us from, you know,
going ahead, keep keep moving ahead. I don't know if
I'm addressing her question correct greet As far as the
cycling through systems, uh, it's basically saying the same thing
I just got through, saying, whatever kind of situation we

(34:12):
find ourselves in, uh, to always look for a positive
way of dealing with it. But for example, UH, sometimes
you get down on people who are very rude, very inconsiderate, Okay,
Rather than to be drawn into that in a negative way,

(34:34):
to somehow maintain a discipline that allows us to not
uh become unsettled, UH, to somehow be able to keep
our cool uh and and politely uh disengage our feels

(34:56):
uh without losing any dignity in process. There are times
when no one, as far as I can tell, have
the answer all the time. Sometimes some of the best
of us are not at a loss for words, so

(35:19):
to speak, sort of like I am right now and so.

Speaker 28 (35:26):
And for some I know that your book has already
captured their attention because they are feeling, like you know,
they're quite frankly ready to do that very thing that
you just said, where you know, they've gone through that
barrage of negativity. They just want to disconnect from from
it all. They want to disassociate. But it's not just

(35:49):
a thing with people and the different it's the entire
system itself, the way it seems that the government has
different things, not just the government, you know, even private corporations,
That there is this system in place to deceive people,

(36:09):
to destroy people, to get them to deceive themselves and others,
and destroy themselves and others, And that there are some
people who are like you know, they like the whole
notion of being able to not just negative people, but
the whole negative system itself and carve out their own weight.

(36:33):
Does your book kind of touch into that as well?
For people who want to you know, for those who
I would say for lack of a better terms, go
off grid, you know, create their own system, whereas just
with their own network, their own family, their own beliefs,
their own eating habits. Does your book cover ways to
help people do that? If they want to, really, like,

(36:56):
you know, cycle through all the systems, even the biggest system.
Will your book a system with that as well? At
least give them some kind of guidance?

Speaker 21 (37:05):
Oh yeah, ain't no doubt about it.

Speaker 22 (37:06):
Uh.

Speaker 21 (37:07):
There are parts in the book, all through the book
that addresses ways, different ways that we can handle ourselves
and and be better for it. One of the things
I stress on a regular basis is discipline. Attitude and discipline, Okay,

(37:28):
regardless of what it is or who it is, to
somehow be able to stay our course, not giving in
just because someone else is weak. We become weak too.
No no, no, no, no, that's not what's happened. There's
the main discipline intelligence with our self. Discipline is like

(37:50):
ignorance in disguise. That's one of my favorite sayings. But no,
no matter as she was saying about the system or stuments, Okay,
this from what I've gathered in my different experiences, Uh,
this system number one, Uh, it's not representative of me

(38:16):
and those I consider my people, because we are a
good natured people basically unless we become somehow influenced by
these negative things that this system is made up by. Uh.
We are spiritual people, very spiritual, okay. And uh, this

(38:37):
system it really cares nothing about that, not really uh
and uh. And they use the word justice. Uh, it's
just a word because it does not reflect in society
as a whole, not really. When you look at how

(38:57):
we are done, so called black people, and the way
that other people are favored over us, how can you
dare tell us about justice? You murder one of us
cold bloodedly, and then you go through this system, which

(39:19):
is full of shenanikins. Okay, that break it down in
such a way it almost makes you wonder did that
person actually murder someone in cold blood? Because after they
get to it, their shenanikins, they make it seem like
nothing really happen. See they In other words, this system

(39:40):
is stacked against us. Some of us are under the
assumption that no, that's not and all, yes it is.
It's stacked against us. And they are periodic times when
this comes to the fold where it's undeniable. We see
this without any kind of doubt. We see what's going
on in our own ways, and it's difficult. I'm referring

(40:05):
to us as a people to existing it because it's contrary.
It goes contrary to our natural system, as far as
our nature and our spirit. Okay, this is not a
reflection of us. If it were, I think a lot
of things would be a lot better. A lot of

(40:28):
people would never become the way that they are some
of us. Yeah, and so I always keep that in mind.
This system is not our system, but there are things
that we can do in our own lives that can
make a difference for the better. And I think that

(40:50):
just like I say in this little piece I wrote
called the Message, if I might be able to add
add the owner, is it okay, young lady?

Speaker 28 (41:02):
Sure, yeah, go ahead, and people, we will allow mister
Johnson to go through and share one of the poems
with you that is exclusive to cycling through Systems. And so,
of course you already know some of the different titles,
the different topics. Rather that he covers some of the
different tipsy gifts. So now you are about to be

(41:25):
treated to the message by Vincent Johnson, one of the
poems that will appear in Cycling Through Systems for the
first time.

Speaker 21 (41:34):
Now, keep in mind, this peace is a reflection of
pretty much how my life has gone. When I found
out who the real crooks was, my knowledge of self
begin to stir. I stop following their guidelines, and more

(41:57):
or less would.

Speaker 7 (41:58):
My world define.

Speaker 21 (42:00):
I made a complete shift of seeing blind to someone
with an open math. This is what drove me to
see what it means to be free, not possessions, but
positive lessons. Something that opens my eyes is that which
is wise, like the unity of our people on all

(42:22):
fronts in terms of basic needs and once how personal
efforts apply to rid ourselves of a big life that
keep us at odds with good guy fasards and other
people's gods, that we can change the range of our
views and triumph over doubts and faulty news.

Speaker 28 (42:45):
Okay, so I'm just fingersnaps and lit lighters.

Speaker 21 (42:51):
I'm just basically saying, you know, once we have developed
a maturity that allowed us to really see this system
for what it is, we will recognize that no wonder
I have gone through what I have gone through. You know,
at first I thought it was just me, But now

(43:13):
that I break things down analytically speaking, the more I
discern the differences in certain situations, the more I see
that this stuff is all by design to keep me
tripped up. But I'm not gonna fall for it. I'm
not going for that. I'm gonna steal rise above this.

(43:35):
This is the attitude we need. Yes, okay, we're not
gonna just give in. And unfortunately many of us we
wind up on drugs or or some other thing that
we do to escape the reality of our uh situation, and.

Speaker 28 (43:53):
In which I don't really just set us up even
more because even if the person it's like, oh, well,
go shopping, but yeah, are you even setting it up
to where even though yeah you're shopping or yeah you're drugging,
or yeah you're doing whatever, but are you setting back
that same amount of money to position yourself to be

(44:14):
better off financially and to not be relegated to you know,
being in a position where you get behind and now
your world is worse because now you're looking at eviction
or you know, foreclosure or whatever.

Speaker 21 (44:28):
You know.

Speaker 28 (44:29):
But yeah, yeah, so it's like, yeah, whatever it is
making sure that you are applying the lessons that you
learn here in psychling through systems, because like you said,
it does require not only taking that time out to
see things the way they really are, but to have
take on that personal accountability and to go in and

(44:51):
and act some self discipline, you know, to learn what
needs to be learned to but yeah, to make the
steps and to take the steps that you need to
take in order to make your life the way you
wanted to create those systems that benefit you better than
the ones that are already bogging you down. And tell
them your website again for them to go and get

(45:13):
all part of yours.

Speaker 21 (45:15):
Yeah, turtle Lip t U R T L E l
I P dot com, turtlelip dot com. You go on
that website and there are various things in there that
you can uh uh follow if you care to do so.
Uh And also the books that she speaks of are

(45:39):
also there and all and Amazon carries you know these
books as well, and you know if you want to
take advantage. But there are also some things in the
website that you may find interesting. Oh yes, because you do.

Speaker 28 (45:57):
Have some great videos there and people you don't have
the chance to on his website turtlelift dot com. You
can grab up the books as well. As you can
check out some of his videos. You can check out
his interviews things like that, but especially his videos where
he's actually going through and reciting the poetry. Because for

(46:18):
those of you who like myself, love to do the
poetry slams or I've been the past, have gone to
the poetry shows and you'd like to see people recite
their poetry life you will be able to see the
Arthur the poet. They're reciting his poetry and so yeah,
and he even has some songs. So yes, people definitely

(46:38):
go to turtlelift dot com. You gotta treat yourself to
turtlelip dot com. Mister Johnson, I so thank you so
much for your time. I know it's tight, but this
is my last question for you. What is there that
you would like to share with the listeners of Articulation
Radio regarding cycling through systems that you've not yet had
a chance to share.

Speaker 21 (46:59):
Oh oh, that's a good question there.

Speaker 7 (47:03):
Uh well, uh.

Speaker 21 (47:08):
There, that's a great question there. Now because thank you,
many things come to mind.

Speaker 28 (47:17):
Uh and I know you have shared so much with us,
and I know, yeah, I can't ask you to give
away the book, so yeah, So I thank you for
even because you've already given a lot more than what
most would give. And I so thank you. So I
guess then your final words and then would be to

(47:38):
remind them to go and grab that book there from
turtlemos dot com.

Speaker 21 (47:42):
Well, let me pull this in there too. There's a
brother over in Africa's name is Imbraheen Triory. Okay. He's
a great leader over there, Bertido Fasso. That's the name
of the country, okay. And if you work, yes, he is,

(48:04):
and he's representative of all of us across the globe.
And if you have any interest in unity and dignity,
then I encourage you to check him out. His name
is spelled I b r A h I m m

(48:25):
like in man im Beraheen Triory. That's g r a
O r E. That's that's how his name is spelt,
uh Im Behem Triory okay. And the name of it
Bertino Bertina Faso, that's spelled b u r j I

(48:47):
n A Fasto f a s o Bertino Fesso. That's
the country over in the So I recommend that you
get on board check him out. Ou oh and uh
if you have any interest in uh the dignity of

(49:08):
us as a people and the unity per see.

Speaker 28 (49:11):
Okay, yes, and definitely those of you who have been
looking forward to making your first trip or next trip
to Africa and you have not yet settled on places
to go, you know, definitely, you know, I always recommend
Mali among the places to consider, but for Kina Faso,

(49:33):
you know, definitely put that at the top of your list,
make that number one at this point. Those there are
people connections you can make because there have already been
people who have gone over and have helped build schools,
put in wells, established solar put in the solar electricity poles,

(49:55):
helped to I mean a lot of different different work
has been going on. So yeah, with the a great
time to get involved, to get there, also to stay
on top of things and to send up prayers of
thanksgiving and protection for all of the great people doing
the great work, especially those who we see who like

(50:20):
mister Ibrahem Treory or you know, I like in my brain,
you know, I have him like deferred as president try
you know in my brain, so you know, but yeah,
definitely send up prayers of protection for him, especially because
we know the great risk that he not only has

(50:40):
been taking these past few years, but especially this year,
the highlight that is truly on him because of this
new initiative. So you know, definitely send up those prayers. People,
go out, get Cycling Through Systems. Head over to turtlelipt
dot com right now, turtlelipt dot com. Grab up your

(51:01):

or this system is dead or the man is this No,
you have a way now. Even if before now you
did not know a way, couldn't see a way, after

(51:21):

not only see a way, you're gonna see multiple ways,
and you'll be inspired instantly to come up with ways
on your own that you know you will be able
to do what you need to do and feel called

a nigger.

Speaker 4 (53:12):

Speaker 29 (53:15):

kind or too soft or too quick.

Speaker 4 (53:21):
To go off. Whatever I am to me, it is.

Speaker 29 (53:24):
Clear I am not always when I up hear. However,
for those who find me hard to figure, I am
not a traitor, not a nigger figger. However, for those

(53:47):

not a nigger. For those who find me hard to figure,
I am not a traitor, not a nigger. For those
find me hard to figure, I am not a traitor,

(54:09):
not a nigger. However, for those who find me hard
to figure, I am not a traitor, not a nigga, no.

Speaker 7 (54:43):

let that slide. After hearing God a Sage and Vincent
Johnson talk about his songs. So yes, you just heard
Hard to Figure, written by Vincent Johnson and performed by
various artists. And up next, I'm gonna play for You, God,
I Pray and Up to You, both songs written by

(55:06):

and you're thinking dumb like words without action. It deprives
you of human compassion. It's like ongoing spells. It shows

(56:29):
and it tells. Even the error around you smells.

Speaker 11 (56:35):
So God, I pray.

Speaker 30 (56:38):
That those who are full of confusion and bitterness will
take notice and honestly consider this, because it's not my ignorance,
it's theirs.

their bondage, and get beyond this break from overcome the
role of a hostage called counting, pettiness and gossip.
