line with us today. People. We have the Arthur, Aaron Ryan and
you all already know Aaron, SoI'm just gonna toss this out. If
you're on Facebook and if you havejoined or interacted with some of these premium
Arthur and Writer groups, especially thegroup that's called Writers and Arthur's that's Ryan's
group. You know, Bryan. You know mister and you know him.
(23:00):
You know him, so definitely showAaron so support. Okay, people,
he has this exciting new project.Matter of fact, this is a trilogy.
Yeah, it's a trilogy. Hehas a trilogy already planned, he
has the coverage design. His veryfirst book is already out for the end
hit New Year's twenty twenty four andit's Dissonance, Volume one Reality And you
(23:25):
all want this. This a newdystopian fiction novel full of three to old,
full of suspense. I mean, this is what you want, Aaron,
Ryan. Before I get to talkingmore about this, how you doing
today? I'm doing well, thankyou. It's a busy Wednesday full of
writing and marketing and marketing and writingand then also some writing and marketing,
lots of it. And but that'sjoined bubblegun for you, that's what you've
(23:49):
been doing. So first, letme ask you, first off, when
you first started the writers in Arthur'sgroup here on Facebook years ago. But
tell us, like, because I'msure you already had in mind, you
know, yeah, you were awriter who wanted to graduate to Arthur.
You wanted to allow people to cometogether, share ideas, share encouragement things
(24:12):
like that. Tell me what wasit like for you? How was the
group able to help you with fulfillingyour dream? Because how long has the
group been often yeah, yeah, fell us in on the group itself,
how long it's been existing, andhow as the creator it was able to
(24:33):
serve to assist you as well.Well. I have to back up a
little bit and just give credit wherecredit is due, because it's not my
I didn't start the group. Ididn't create that group. It was created
by author Evy Ryland, and she'screated that many years ago. I think
that Emy just kind of found thather time was becoming more demanding, pulled
(24:55):
in different directions, and running asuper large group on Facebook requires you to
navigate a lot of different issues withyou know, posting from different authors,
blocking spammers and scammers, encouragement, engagement, facilitating all that stuff, and
it takes a while to do.It takes a lot of management to do.
(25:15):
So she I've joined the group maybea month ago, and I saw
a post from her that said thatshe was backing off and she wanted a
new admin. I stepped up andsaid, I'm an author, I would
love to be part of this group. And the admin team and what do
you think? So we talked andshe elevated my privileges as they were,
and I love it. I've justbeen engrossed with kind of facilitating engagement every
(25:41):
day. It's a really good communityfor getting authors to talk about their projects
in a safe space. Beautiful, beautiful, and tell the listeners of Arsitulation
Radio about your particular journey. Howdid you even come up number one?
How did you come up with Iwould say, such an intriguing and in
(26:03):
depth premise for your first books? Not you didn't just come up with one
book. You came up with atrilogy. So how did that come about?
And how did you find the courageto start taking the first few steps
in manifesting this big meaty baby. It's a big meaty baby, for sure.
Well it's not my first book.I've been a voiceover artist for many,
(26:27):
many years and I've published six orseven books on voiceover business, so
I'm very familiar with the publishing processas far as the self publishing process goes.
But I'm also a musician. Itried to return to music in twenty
twenty three, and after that dreamkind of died. Just it's a different
landscape from when it was in thelate nineties. I decided, you know,
(26:51):
I've got to do something. Ihave an itch to create that I've
got to scratch. What can Ido? And I was really pulled back
to author novels. I love readingdystopian fiction. I love reading, you
know, sci fi mystery thrillers thatare compelling and engaging and captivating. And
(27:11):
a big fan of like Suzanne Collins, Hunger Games, Marie Lou's The Legend
series, Shade Owens, The ImmortalOnes, and just so many more.
I thought, if they can doit, why can't I, And so,
being a big fan of dystopian fictionand of cinema, I just kind
of took a lot of elements thatI've appreciated from both over the years,
things that inspired me and terrified me, and things that I would want to
(27:37):
create in my own world that wasn'tso far fetched and far removed from the
realities that we face today, butwas just projected forward into the future by
eighteen years. It's an alien invasionthat happens in the year twenty twenty four
or sorry, twenty twenty six,and the book the first novel is set
in twenty forty two, sixteen yearsafter the alien vision, and it took
(28:00):
a lot to just to kind ofenvision what that world would be and see
what life would be like, ekingout an existence in the shadows. Yes,
and with that being I know that, yes, you know, you
had previously, You've done plenty ofbook works, so to say, but
moron that we would say, theprofessional technical end. And with this being,
(28:22):
you know, like you mentioned thefirst time diving into you know,
not only that fiction realm, butI would say even you know, playing
around with a bit of sci fi, you know, because you have aliens
going on in this first work, you know, and I'm sure you probably
even maybe even introduced new technology orthings like that, you know, so
definitely even this is kind of amashup of different genres. How and I
(28:48):
know that you said that, yeah, you wanted to, you know,
of course, include those things thatyou appreciate that you've seen in other people's
creations. But was there any partof you that you had to I would
say, where you had kind offace of fear or get a new realization
or release limits off yourself to belike, no, you know I can't
(29:11):
do this, or no, yeah, I thought it was hard. But
once I learned to do this, then that what was that thing that you
had overcome in order to manifest thisand how did you overcome that thing?
Well, those are really good questions. Ultimately, a book writing process is
extraordinarily organic, and it has toevolve and you have to kind of let
(29:33):
the storytell itself. Sometimes in thatprocess it requires you to actually kill off
a character. You have to bewilling to part with someone that you have
created, that you've burst and givenlife to, and you have to be
willing to move forward in the storywithout that character if it doesn't serve the
overarching plot of the story or theprotagonist's journey. It also necessitates for that
(29:59):
author or that sort of that protagonistsget stretched. The protagonist has to evolve
himself. But man, my fingerswere flying off the keyboard during that chapter.
I was a miserable wreck. Ibecame disassembled. I was bawling,
and it was hard to move throughthat, and you kind of regret this
path that you've taken for just abrief moment, but then you realize this
(30:23):
is the stuff of life. Isthis kind of stuff happens and it's outside
of your control. The protagonist doesn'texist in an ideal, sterile, vanilla
world. They asked to navigate andthread their way through there is just like
you do yours. So there wasthat aspect of it. But the other
side of it is that this isnot in a sci fi world set on
(30:45):
another planet where the rules can bebroken, because the rules are completely different
there. I had to, yeah, I had to envision a world that
was the same as ours, justwrecked and a bit forward in the future.
What that involved was, actually, you know, aside from envisioning the
(31:06):
huge mishaps and cataclysms and tragedies thathave happened and taking place all over the
world, you have to use alittle bit of Google mapping the you know,
the aerial view and follow your protagonist'sjourney and use real street names,
real cities, real monuments, realactual things that were there or could still
(31:29):
be there, and make a sievea level of their similitude. That way,
a level of reality that people cango, yeah, he's he's either
been here or he researched it well. So it took a lot of planning
and successfully working my way through it, and that definitely makes any kind of
fiction, whether it's mash up ornot, it definitely makes it more real.
(31:52):
And as we know, that's thestuff there, the best fiction,
the stuff that seems like nonfictions, you know, where you have to constantly
remind us of you know, thisis you and you yes, yes,
and you're also of course plays on, you know, cause some dystopian works,
you know pretty much play on.I would say, you know,
(32:15):
the lone survivor or the few survivorsscenario. But it's more so about Okay,
how will you, as an individual, you know, maintain your sanity
and be able to stay in hereand hang tight? Whereas it seems like
yours fits along with those that arelike okay, not only will you the
individual, but how will you beable to maintain these relationships? Look out
(32:37):
not just for you, but foryour friends and family, make sure you
put things in place. How willyou restart society? As well as helpful?
So and I like those that aremore broad based, because that,
to me seems like what I wouldenvision it would be. It won't be
the widow it's just a handful ofpeople. No, it's gonna be you
and other people, and you allhave to look out for each other.
(32:58):
You're not going to be fifty millionmiles apart and not knowing who's No,
you're gonna know, So ye tellthose listeners about for you the importance of
relationship and why it needed a placein this new world that you've created with
your work with Dissonance Volume one.Reality. Sure, well, with any
(33:22):
story when you've got a protagonist, well actually not just a single protagonist,
but you've got your own homeland, your own planet that's that's been ravaged and
is you know, desolate and forlornand completely annihilated eighty five percent of mankind.
It's tragic enough already, and youdon't, I mean, no one
wants to read just to kill joystory where there's life, no no chance
(33:44):
of emerging out of that victorious. So yeah, they're banded together in groups.
There are silos of survivors here andthere dotting the land, but they're
living in the shadows. But theydo have a closer bond now because they've
seen the enemy, they've the problemsthat they're all facing. They all face
a common challenge that they have toovercome. And the problem, though,
(34:07):
is that is that with this story, and with any good story, humbly
speaking, you have to have.Any good story has two stories, really,
So you've got the problem that yousee, but there's also a subterranean
problem that's kind of a subtext andis running is a running narrative below what
you're actually seeing or reading, andthat ends up becoming the real problem or
(34:29):
the real threat. And so Idon't want to give the spoiler or destroy
any of the the steak around thebook, but you'll find that as you
go along, there are forces thatare working to undermine our protagonists. So
he's now faced with the dichotomy oftrying to face off against these actual tangible
(34:50):
predator aliens that have infested our world. But then he's also got to deal
with just some human versus human stuff, which is so hard and emotionally hard.
It's it's kicking its toll on him. But you have to read on
to find more about that and people, and you know you want to do
that right. And for those ofyou who are just tuning in my apology,
you are listening to Articulation Radio. My name is Goddess Stage and I
(35:15):
am interviewing the Arthur mister, AaronRyan, and we are talking about his
brand new books. It is calledDissonance Volume one Reality, and this is
part of a dystopian sci fi thrillertrilogy. Okay, and you can head
on over to his website right nowas a matter of fact, because I
know some of you are like,we want the website. You should have
(35:37):
said it already. My apology. You all know sometimes I can be a
little slow. Okay. The websiteis Dissonance V Series dot com. That's
d I S S O n An c E t h E S E
r I E S Dissonance V Seriesdot com. And you'll be able to
(35:57):
not only grab up your copy ofthe big first listing, the very first
release from this trilogy, which isDissonant Volume one Reality, but you will
be able to stay abreast on whenthe other releases are gonna be coming out
that are part of this trilogy. You will also be able to not only
connect with Arthur Aaron Ryan, butanything else that he happens to because you
(36:21):
all can already see he's a vessel, so he's gonna be able to whatever
it is that comes to his spirit. He's gonna crank this out, so
who knows whether you will get somethingelse in between these other ones coming out
so head over right now to dismissthe series dot com. Dismiss the series
dot com sign up. If there'sa way for you to sign up for
(36:42):
a newsletter, sign up, dothat. Otherwise, keep checking back,
make sure that you stay on topof this. Be among the first people
to get the books when they comeoff the press. This baby don't get
no more VIP than that. Andyou know you want to know whenever he's
gonna be around so that you canget your books. Auto crowd Aaron,
when are you, mister Ryan, when are you going to be having any
(37:04):
event or something next? Because Iknow this book just came out here New
Years, But do you have likea book signing or any events that are
planned? Yeah? And then thanksfor asking, And they can actually go
to Dissonance the series dot com slashblog and they can actually enlist or sign
up at the blog to be ableto receive an email or when volume two
is released or any other news regardingit such as Yeah, such as the
(37:30):
book signing party. I'm going todo a book signing party tentatively scheduled for
March seconds. It'll be here init'll be north of me in Federal Way,
Washington, but if they go visitthere, if anybody's been in Washington,
they're able to travel there. It'llbe in Cedera way tentatively March second.
They sign up on the blog atthe website, and they'll be kept
up the date on that date orany date that actually becomes set on.
(37:52):
Yes, yes, yes, yes. And what about if Cyprus is some
one is like, hey, Iwould love to have you to come out
to my spot and do a reading. Are you available where they can negotiate
travel right now? Or is itthat you know for a certain period of
time you won't be able to traveloutside of Washington State. No, I
(38:15):
would absolutely love that. In fact, I just finished recording the audiobook.
I'm also a voiceover artist, asI mentioned, So yesterday afternoon I finished
recording the entire book. It isnine hours unedited, Aaron, I know
it took a while. It definitelytook a while, but I love the
(38:36):
audiobook format and so those will bereleased probably in the next month, and
live readings will probably mimic the stylethat was used in the in the audiobook
version as well. That'd be greatif anybody's interested to be greatly yes,
yes, that is lovely, right, there and now, And definitely I
always try to get people to givetips to people because you know, a
(38:59):
lot of times there are people who, you know, they see what you're
doing, they want to do thesame thing, but they're like, oh,
I can't do it because of this, or oh one day when I
get this, then I'll do it. What would you say to those people
who feel like, hey, youknow I have a gift, I have
an interest, I have a talent, but I can't act on it right
(39:20):
now because of whatever it is?What would you say to help them see
that that whatever it is really isnon existent and how they can still do
what they want to do if theyjust decide to overcome that whatever it is.
So what advice would you give themto get rid of that whatever it
(39:42):
is? Yeah, that's so critical. So like I love I'm from Seattle,
So Seattle Seahawks. Russell Wilson, the former QUB here he quoted on
several Yeah, he's quoted on severaloccasions. His dad having conversations with him
when he was a kid, andthe quote that came from his dad that
he'll always remember is is why notyou? Why not? Now? So
(40:07):
everybody has a dream or an aspiration, and I actually narrate several audiobooks.
I don't do a lot of audiobooks, but I do do them for a
particular author named Tibo Malise. He'sFrench and he writes He's got a lot
of books out on ACX and Amazonand Audible, and he writes self help,
(40:29):
inspirational, organizational, motivational books. And one of the things that he
always mentions in his books is ifother people can do it, why can't
you? And that rings so true. All you have to do is look
around at the plethora of artists thatare out there, the plethora of authors
that are out there. If there'sa craft that you're deeply desiring to do,
(40:51):
do it. I love the phraseby Oscar Wild that says, be
yourself everyone else has already taken. So as you go into it, don't
miss mix somebody to the point of, you know, turning your own personality
obsolete or rendering yourself in obsolescence. You have a unique and specific story to
(41:12):
tell, and you might really besurprised how many people out there genuinely want
to hear that story. We're allcreating different things, and the people who
receive those are all wanting to takepart in the creation that you have made.
They may not want fiction, theymay not want dystopian fiction, they
may not want business books, theymay not want this music, that music,
(41:34):
this type of movie, whatever. But there's a huge portion of humanity
out there that's waiting to receive yourstory. So do it. In twenty
years you'll look back and you'll go, should it would have? Don't do
that? Do it now? Yes? Indeed? Indeed? And what about
those who are like, oh,you know, I would love to get
into voice over work? What tipsdo you have for us? So for
(41:58):
those who are like, oh,I want to like the cartoon or I
want to do the audio books likeyou, what tips do you have for
them on how they can get started? Yeah, I just say look for
a local voiceover coach because the coachcan introduce you to the world of voiceovers
and they can share with you whatyou need to learn and know what kind
of equipment you'll need, what kindof further training you'll need. Beautiful Aaron,
(42:22):
you rock. And my very lastquestion to you before I let you
go. I know your time istight and everything, but what is there
that you would like to share withthe listeners? Of articulation radio that you
have not yet had a chance toexpress. Boy, wow, that's so
over. Then I would just kindof like going back on what I said
(42:45):
earlier. I have a powerful storyto tell. I wrote this book in
three weeks time. I just gotoff a zoom call with a colleague.
No, I'm not kidding. Igot off a zoom call maybe a few
hours ago for a colleague in London, and he wrote his book over six
(43:05):
years time, or actually seven yearstime. I don't know what the difference
is. I just I had astory to tell and it flew out of
me. And in particular, therewere chapters where I just my fingers were
absolutely flying off the keyboard. Ifelt like this, and as I was
writing it, I was thinking,I want to write it in a proper
narrative form, but I'm also thinkingcinematically. I'm thinking screenplay wise, how
(43:30):
would this book translate onto screen? So I think that's actually good advice to
give and to receive that if youare writing a novel, if you're focused
on writing a novel, treat it. You have to step into the world
and you have to envision it theway that or write it. Sorry,
in a way that people can actuallyenvision it on screen, because that visual
(43:51):
representation is what everyone needs in orderfor your book to come to life,
whether it's on screen, whether it'sin their mind. Write it from the
standpoint of looking at it on thebig screen, and then everyone will be
able to understand it so much moreclearly that way. I agree. I
agree, you know, making surethat what it is that you're seeing or
(44:15):
feeling or thinking that you're making ita point to convey that on the page.
Don't just assume that people will assumeit's there. And I also want
to touch on too real quick Aeronwhen you mentioned you know that for you
it was just flying out and youdon't know the difference of why it took
you just a few weeks versus yourgreat friend you know it took some years.
(44:37):
And I think that it's the wayit is with all of us creative.
Anything that you consistently work on,you will complete faster than something you
work on then put down and thenstep away from it for a while,
then come back to it a coupleof months later. Whereas, no,
you didn't give yourself that luxury ofoh, i'll pick this back up later.
(44:58):
You were like, no, Igot to get this out is I
gotta let it come on out now. And that's the thing. People give
yourself, that permission to express andto be and to let it be the
way you see it. And yeah, and like he said, don't try
to sound like someone else, youknow, do your story in your way
and in your voice, because whoelse is the best person for you to
(45:20):
be other than you, because that'sthe only person who you have a chance
to truly master. So definitely justbe you and do you. And now,
Aaron, I know I claim thatwas my last one, but sometimes
I'm such a liar to you know, but like here is my last one.
I'm brothers, Like, where canpeople because I know I told them
about the website, you know,Dissonance the Series dot com. But tell
(45:44):
them how much your book is,whether it's available in paperback and hardback,
because you know some people only theylove the hardbacks, So let them know
whether they can get hardback and theprices and all the other places too they
can go. Absolutely, yeah, thank you for asking. So definitely head
to dissonanceth Series dot com. Whenyou go to Dissonance the Series dot com
(46:05):
at the menu bar up there, you'll see shop. You go to the
shop page, and the shop pagehas links for all kinds of different versions.
It has paperback direct for me autograph, or you have hardcover direct from
me autographed. The other thing youcan do is, of course go to
Amazon and then get it through Kindle, which is Kindle actually is on sale
(46:25):
right now for ninety nine cents throughSunday, So if you want to get
a Kindle version at a really goodprice, you can get it for ninety
nine cents there, or you canget it on paperback or hardcover through Amazon
KDP as well. Coming up soonagain, I don't know exactly when,
but because I have to run itthrough ACX is when I've finished editing the
audiobook, I need to review itand then we'll upload that and that will
(46:49):
be ready probably i'd say by beforethe end of February, so then the
audiobook version will be available as well. But you can also you can go
to the website, sign up onthe blog all I'm very prolific on social
media. You can go to dotdot cards slash author Aaron Ryan and find
all of my social media links tostay up to date on any news and
(47:12):
developments there as well wow, yes, Aaron, Ryan, you rock so
hard man. Oh so I'm gladwe had a chance to connect. Yes,
yes, yes, and I amso thankful for the great work that
you've put out. Not only willpeople be able to get new works that
they can read and enjoy, butpeople will also get that new fire lit
(47:35):
under them and be like, yes, see, you can do it too.
Ryan went ahead and crank hiss out. He got some more where that
came from. So go ahead andlet yours join his as well. Finish
your works, babe, And ifyou happen to need something to I would
say, give you an extra littleinspiration, and you know, to give
you that encouragement, go ahead. You can order your autographed copy of the
(47:58):
book. And even if you're like, look, that book is taken too
long, you know I want itnow, you can also go over and
get the kindle and that way youcan have the e book version you can
be looking at until your autograph copythat you get from me, I'm arrived.
But you know, no matter whereyou get your book from, always
go back drop a review. Letthem know exactly what you think. Because
(48:19):
yes, we authors and creatives lovethe support, but we especially love that
feedback too, And we're not justsaying only if you like it, No,
we want all honest feedback, Ipromise you people, we want it
all right, right right, missRyan, that's very absolutely I love the
feedback I do. I genuinely wantto hear what you think of the story,
(48:39):
what you think of the characters, what you think of the developments that
happen they're in. And the goalis, of course, to render something
in book form that you read andyou it just leaves you craving more so.
I actually have one hundred and fiftypages so far on volume two.
I'm so excited to release the nextbefore the midpoint of this of this year,
(49:02):
and it's going to turn into agreat trilogy. It's just got some
beef to it and meet and heftto it. You're gonna love it,
like and so with the entire trilogy. Will it be that with this year
in twenty twenty four, all threeout in twenty twenty four, or is
it that maybe the first two, like you know, we know New Years
was when the first one came, and then you said the second one will
(49:24):
probably be me ad year. Sothat makes me think, can't licking the
fingers in the fall, we getthe start of what's your plan? No,
the plan is definitely all three thisyear, just in a single year.
I don't like to make people waittoo long, but I also I
hate waiting, so I'm just Ilove to create number one, number two.
(49:46):
I want to see a finished copymyself of the entire saga and know
how it ends. So I'll beworking fevers on my end. But short
of maybe a literary agent telling me, you know, we need to paste
this out, space it out, whatever, it should all be released this
year, all three of them.Yes, yes, yes, we love
from Aaron Ryan. Y'all want toget y'all some head on over to Dissonance
(50:09):
the Series dot Com. Dissonance theSeries dot Com. Grab up your copy
of the very first release from thistrilogy, from this dystopian fiction thurriller trilogy
that's going on, Dissonance, Volumeone Reality by Aaron Ryan. You can
(50:30):
and of course, as you know, he did say, it's available worldwide,
and you can even get it fromAmazon and stuff too, but as
you know, the best place toget it is with that autograph, baby,
and that's at Dissonance the Series dotCom and head to the page that
says shop you know, and thenyou'll be able to get everything. Mister
