a wonder I had a wonderful holidayseason. Um. Maybe you watched him
stay by the bell man. Idon't know, Maybe he did, maybe
he didn't. All right, umstay by the bell Some Christmas episodes too,
they do, I don't really rememberthey do. Uh there's one where
um Christmas sweater in the in theparty yet so Zach helps a homeless girl,

remember now, and he's very insensitiveabout the fact that she doesn't have
a home. Wow. Yeah,good, I'm happy about We're talking about
the reboots, right may remember we'rerunning a mom um if you want to

do that. Yeah, we're talkingto say without the Bell. Season one,
episode five of the reboot called Brantto Mom and it it's time for
our for a segment. Hey,hey, hey, what is going on
here? I love that guy?Uh, we are gonna break this episode

(03:06):
down just acuase you haven't seen ityet, or maybe you have and you
and you forgot, maybe you watchedit back in November when it came out.
Um, Dan, Uh, Daisy'sjust stressed. She's stressed, she's
anxious over well, yeah, becauseof her schedule. Uh, she didn't
have time to finish her homework.And Mac is there to save the day.

(03:27):
Yeah. Mac pulls out a bottleof pills says these are gonna help
you concentrates. Now, my guessis that Mac's not taken caffeine adderall.
I think that. But uh,but that doesn't stop Jesse from showing up
and saying caffeine pills are bad.Throws them. It's a classic cold open,

(03:51):
Yes it is. Uh, itis about as on the nose as
this show has been. It belongsin the cold open. It doesn't belong
in the actual story. That's that'sjust how that that works, that's right.
Um. And so they made itfor the trailer. They made it
for the trailers. That's why theydid. It had to be done.
Um. So Jesse invites her toher office later. She's the guidance,

(04:13):
So it gives her some guidance.Yeah, that's kind of what she's gonna
go for there. Um. Meanwhile, the bayside A football team is bad,
real bad. They care about thefeelings and the hugs. They don't
want to tackle. They're losing onehundred and seventy nine and nothing. Now,
Jamie, for reasons unknown, asthe backup quarterback, is the one
who gives a team um, anduh, this is a weird it's a

(04:36):
weird pep talk because he's like,just for you know, remember that the
other team has feelings, go outthere, tell him they're doing a great
job. Um. And so theygo out and they just get just get
killed. Just wax, yes,yeah, um. And so Ayesha is
like, what what are we doinghere? Like this is a horrible pep

(04:58):
talk? I hate losing. Um, I should be the one to give
the pep talk as the quarterback andcoach. Coach Schlater is like, well,
I can't take it, ja Ialready took the spot from Jamie.
I can't take away. And soI us just like, you know what,
I'm gonna figure this out my self, right. Um. Back to

(05:19):
Jesse's office and Jesse has some news. Yeah. Well, first she says,
stop doing everything she's in every club, just to just back off some
and then go to this eight prestigiouseight week summer thing that you know,
it's all expenses paid, and itwill help you and that will look edge
in all these clubs and stuff.The Flat Earth Club's not gonna do My

(05:41):
Flat Earth Club's not gonna get itdone. But she's worried because her mom,
you know, she's constantly doing thingsfor a mom, because her mom
works several jobs and she's you know, keeping his kids, and so she
doesn't think her mom's gonna go forit, and she's trying to figure out
how to make that happen. That'sexactly right, the classic random moms say,
it's classic random mom situation. Um, Aisha confronts Jamie about his speeches,

(06:03):
her thought processes. If I can, you know, tell Jamie like,
these speeches aren't working. You seesome sparks here, We see some
sparks. We see some sparks.Now, Um, Aisha becomes more and
more angry because Jamie's not quite gettingyeah, and um, finally Jamie gets
so annoyed that she's yelling at himthat he throws his soda at Principal Toddman

(06:30):
down. Toddman's in a bit withuh, what's it? I can't remember
his name? Now, Yeah,Todman's in a bit with Devanta. That's
just like a stinger bit all episodewhere he wants to wear DeVante's cool shirts.
That's yeah. And she realizes thatif you make him mad, maybe
that they'll have a better chance.Tom that he throws a perfect spiral right

(06:53):
in the old numbers of Toddman's right, right in the Toddman numbers. Um.
And so she goes to Slater andsays, hey, if we make
everyone angry, this will be goodfor the team. It is and says
Slater's like Bengo, Bengo gotcha,I got youa UM. So they go
into the locker room and they justthey destroy it. They write messages on

(07:15):
the lockne messages to all the players. Yes and uh, funny bit about
this kid saying that he only toldSlater it's about his parents divorce. How
did they know? H. Sothey go out, they play the game.
They still lose, but only byseven seven and the team's all very
happy, but Asha still mad thatthey're losing and refuses to go to the

(07:40):
Max for pizza. Pizza, Pizzaat the Max Pizza interspersed through that is
Daisy, you know she forged yoursignature on her mom's signature on the application,
realizes her mom's too busy to reallycare about this, and then talks
to Lexi and Mac and realizes thatSpan has called mom and left a message.

(08:01):
She's going, yeah, and ifyou knew anything, you'd know that
they always called it always called becausethey don't want the parents to get mad.
That's right, helicopter helicopter parents.Yeah, And so she needs help,
yes, and so they they picturethe Jiraffes Gambit's gambit. It's a
it's a scam where they basically rentan actor to play yes the mom,
the mom, and they do thatand they do it and so the the

(08:24):
act the actor comes to meet withSpano says, Hey, I'm the mom,
you can tell and let's go fora walk. And so they go
for a walk. Daisy sneaks inbecause um, her mom is going to
call Jesse back, and so sheintercepts the call. Um and there's a
book on the on the tape onthe desk, and it's like, uh,

(08:48):
everything, I tell your mom everythingall the time, And so she
starts to feel very guilty. Shegets up to go to leave, and
she hears Spans coming back to Spano'scoming to hide under the desk, yes,
and so she hides and um Jessecomes in, sits down, does
a little video chat with her husbandwho's away on some sort of writers writers

(09:09):
meditation the three yeah um and finallyuh she starts, you know, Daisy,
she's she's not the bad kids,She's still like she feels bad about
lying and so she finally pops outof the is going oh yes. But
she pops out and Spano's still there, and so they have a heart to

(09:30):
heart. She comes clean, comesclean. Spano also comes clean, and
Spano knows about the arrass gambit.Yeah she was yeah um and so um
they you know, they talk andconvinces Daisy to talk to her mom um
about the placements and it's very veryvery sweet times so um. At the

(09:52):
end, Slater goes out to findAyisha on the football fields getting the throzeen,
getting the getting the getting the repsand they talk and later explains how
she's really turning the team around,right. She deserves pizzas, but so
piezzas not for let's pieces pieces forwinners. Um able to convince her finally

(10:15):
to go to celebrate with the team. Um, and Daisy has the courage
to talk to her mom, andher mother agrees you should do this later
with Spano. Which what's going onthere? Boy, that's it's too much
for my heart right now. Thingsare the things are starting to heat up
there and that's for sure. Um, and that was exactly right. We're

(10:39):
gonna take a quick break. We'llcome back with our other segments to write
this episode down even more. Umhere on back to bay side. We
want to be back. Yeah,let's do it. Let's do it.
Now we're back and it's time forour next segment. It's a good clips

(11:05):
for this one. I'm so excited. I'm scared, spared show where we
talk about how he felt about thisepisode. Did we love it? Did
it excite us? Did we notlike it? Did it scare us?
Dan excited or scared? I hatethe fact that there are shows that like
every episode or like like there arepodcasts out there that they simply exist to
just keep telling like the thing thatthey're reviewing, how good it is.

(11:26):
I hate that. I want tobe honest and give honest takes. Um.
This was my least favorite episode sofar, but I still had a
great time. And I hate that. I want there to be a couple
that I just don't like, andI'm not there yet. I still like
early on, I was like,this isn't working. A football centric episode
did not work at all for me. Too much Jamie and Aisha not.

(11:48):
The other thing I'm realizing, andthis is crazy, is that I think
you really need Mac on the screenmore. Yea. And the first time
I was like, man, Ihope he's just like a d character.
And now it's like when Mac andDaisy are together, that's when the show
really is propelled. Not nearly enough, not nearly enough Mac, not nearly
enough. Lexi Um still had fouror five moments that made me laugh.

(12:13):
That that saves it into the I'mSo excited category. Least favorite of the
five, still enough for me togive it the thumbs up, though,
that's where I am. I agreewith you one, Dana least favorite of
the series, still fun Um.I love the Mac. I need more
Mac. Mac. Mac and Daisyare are what I'm hoping for. I
can't believe that I said it,because that's the first episode I remember.

(12:35):
I remember, you know, andI still am waiting for that Davante storyline
that matters, Um. But I'mreally excited for the sparks of Slater and
yeah and uh and Jesse. Nowgranted that uh involves Jesse. She's a
married woman. She's married, sothat that that part of me is,

(12:56):
I don't do it. But Imean he's also gone, you know,
he's been gone, and he doesn'tseem to care, and so what what
do you do? What do youdo there? I don't know, but
I imagine we're gonna find out.So yeah, overall, I still had
a good time, but just mylead's favorite um of it. Um,
you know, and I like,I like, I like Ayesha, and

(13:16):
I like uh like Jamie. Ilike that whole storyline. But um,
I think the bit of the footballteam being starting to wear things. Yeah,
and so I'm hoping that this isstarting to turn the corner of them
actually taking football seriously, Ayisha reallybeing the star there. Hopefully that's great.

(13:37):
Yeah, we're all. I'm allthere for that time time out,
time out of Spider Show. Wetalk about things that didn't make sense or
made us laugh or whatever, umthat made us say time out when we
were watching It's dan I got threeis the football game happening in the middle
of the day because we get uh, the Toddman shirt gets ruined. He

(14:00):
paid twelve hundred dollars for it.He gets ruined. Then they do the
locker room speech. In the lockerroom speech happens, and then they go
back and Todman is wearing a Baysidesweatshirt because his shirt has still been ruined
from the same day. And thenthey go back to the game. There's
a different game, no, becausethe first the first game, he gives

(14:22):
a speech and they go out andthere's one hundred Watch this show again,
you will notice that the speech I'mtalking about is after they've decked the locker
room. Okay, so the rememberthe shirt gets ruined by the slushy.
Yes, then they had the lockerroom scene, right, And then they
go to Toddman who's wearing a sweatshirtbecause his shirt was ruined. Oh yeah,

(14:43):
yeah, right. Is the footballgame happening in the middle of the
day. You wouldn't get it becausethey keep and then here's the thing is,
throughout that football thing, they keepcutting to people doing stuff in school.
Yeah, and it is bunkers tome. If you did it during
the first one, you'd be like, all right, the game was a
wreck. But they did it duringthe second game where they only lost by
seven. Didn't make any sense atall, Like none, Um, they

(15:07):
serve pizza at the Max. Thatwas news to me. That is that
is like a that's a game change, game changer. The Max already has
magic and burgers. You just throwa pizza in that mix. Forget about
it. Man, I'm not goinganywhere else. I war in that school
restaurant even when I'm at school.Yeah. Um. And then lastly,
it's starting to feel like Elizabeth Berkeleylike filmed all of her scenes in one

(15:33):
day because she is wearing the exactsame thing in this in this episode that
she's warning a previous episode. AndI think they just screwed it up because
I feel like she was maybe onset for a day or two and they
shot all her scenes because she's neveraround a big group of people and she's
just doing these random scenes with oneperson at a time, and she's wearing

(15:54):
the same clothes, and I don'tunderstand it. I understand why they did
it if she didn't want to beon the set all the time, but
it's just feeling weird to me.That's feeling weird. Those are my time
outs, Um, The thing Inoticed that I've never noticed before is that,
you know, the producers of thisshow. You got you got Tiffany
Thiefson, who's been in thirty secondsand maybe so far. Uh, you

(16:17):
got Mark Paul same bit. Ofcourse, it's not surprising that um uh,
Mario and Elizabeth are producers. Butthen also the girl who plays uh
Lexi is a producer's wild so theproducer credits, I just had no idea
how how involved is Tiffany, Butalso what has Tiffany seen this shows through.

(16:41):
No, it's a contractual thing.You get that producer credit, you
get more money and more royalties.That's what it's about. Which it's weird
that the girl that plays Lexi,she's not even like the store of the
show, and she gets a credit. But I wonder if it was just
was it just for this episode,like it's the first time I've noticed it.
No, I think producers are forthe show and necessarily or while the
show's like the show runners, sothe show runner will change, so the

(17:03):
same producers won't make every season.But I think that I think you can
have episode really episode episodic producers couldbe the episodic producers were gonna look it
up. I saw them live.They're great, really good. Um.
I thought Slater reading the Bible wasjust a funny bit weirdest but like so
unnecessary but funny, like Slater's readingthe Bible. If it wasn't a public

(17:25):
school, I could tell you allabout it as that's the whole punchline.
That's it, and it's worth everysecond of it. And it's just like,
yeah, I loved it. Iloved it. It made me laugh.
Um and then I you know,I know it's for for for funnies,
but I wish I could have seenmore of how a football team got
one hundred and seventy nine points.Yeah, yeah, like even if they're

(17:48):
not playing another team, I feellike that's a lot of points if they
reverse to tackling you. I meanyou still you're talking about that's impressive.
Yeah, it's impressive minutes of football. One hundred seventy nine points is getting
it done. Yeah. So Iwish we could have seen some clips.
I want some football clips. They'renot gonna show any want Uh, you're
right, Uh, it's time farour last segment. It's time to talk

about um ah an og who Idon't think it's a producer cretic. Okay,
and it's Lark Larks. Yes,now Lark is gonna make an appearances.
What we keep hearing on the show, okay, and it is uh,
it's come out. She's done aninterview. She did an interview a
few weeks ago, and she saidthat the say by the bell cameo um

(18:34):
helped her with his schizophrenia. Whatshe says that going back on set,
she says, quote, Um,I had a wonderful, wonderful exposure on
the on the say by the bellUm and wash. It's just it's helped
ever since then my schizophrenia since Iwas on set, Wow, did any

(18:59):
tangible ways or she just said thatthat was it. That's that's really,
that's really. It's so much progress, is what she says. So much
problem. Maybe they need to haveher on there more often. Yeah,
maybe I'm interested to see her.I'm interested to see if she can even
like feel, if it even feelslike Lisa anymore, because I'm just not
seen her in any like all ofthese other characters like Mario Lopezlizabeth Berkeley,

(19:19):
Tiffany Thieves, and Mark Paul Gossler. I've watched them in other things.
I've never seen Mark Voorhe's in somethingelse, and so I'm interested to see
if she can still, like,you know, muster up the Lisa.
I don't know if she can doit. You know she I think she
thinks that acting is what she's supposedto do, and h the schizophrenia has

(19:40):
made it hard for her to dothat. And so to be able to
do something that you think that youwere born to do in helping her,
Yeah, with that and so interesting. You know she uh wasn't originally she
like didn't get invited at first.Do you remember this? She went to
doctor Oz, she talked about it, and here she is. So we'll

(20:00):
see how much she's actually on thescreen. No producer credit though, from
one Lark for Lark. We'll getthere. Though it's exactly right. But
