(00:02):
This is a Bramble Jam podcast.Oh boy, this is Back to Bayside,
(00:28):
Back at Home edition. Yeah,I'm at home. I'm in um
Can. I'll be transparent, youknow. At on Gavel, I said
I was in a closet and havingthe closet that's not Did you say that
on Gavel or did you not?I think I think I just I think
I just told you. I'm notin a closet. I'm in my bathroom.
(00:48):
You're in your bathroom kind of likea closet. So my desk is
kind of right above a toilet, yeah, kind of how I have it
set up right now? Wow?Uh pretty awesome? Yeah yeah, yeah,
I'm pretty cool. I'm pretty Butit's you know, because my room
is directly adjacent to my ten monthold who is napping. Yeah, And
(01:15):
so I wanted to be able tospeak freely. Yeah, you want to
get your words out there. Idon't want to be like did you see
what? Did you see what?Slater did? I want to be like
Slater, dude what and just feelgood about that. So that's what we're
doing. And you're back in theyou're back in the studio, you're running
I'm on the studio. I'm runningpoints. I'm a pro by now.
(01:37):
It's pretty straightforward. I don't seewhat could possibly go wrong. Nothing could
go wrong, nothing could go wrongat all. Um, except you know,
maybe we do the Friends Forever segmentfirst or something, but whatever,
Yeah, we would never do.Um we are we are talking about a
team line. Yeah, team linewhich halfway through the new reboot and team
(01:59):
line is you know, ah,they keep doing these like winks to the
to the original because you have theteen line is just a different type of
team line U and they are muchdifferent. Um. Team line originally November
twenty fifth, twenty and it's time. It's time for our first segment.
Hey, hey, hey, whatis going on here? Hey? What
(02:22):
is going on here? It's well, we break down the episode, tell
you what happened, just in caseyou didn't see it. Maybe it's been
a little while for you. Um, I'm excited to talk about this one.
It's the most like farcical episode we'vedone so far. Like, yes,
the least based in the real worldof any episode that we've done.
(02:43):
Yes. Um. It starts offwith the musical, so we're there.
Um, we get just a littlebit of it. We get DeVante singing
a fascinating song. Um, andhe's doing great. You would think that
the musical would have been the endof the season, and it just kind
of is thrown in in the middleand you get a half a scene that's
(03:04):
right, yeah, talking about Nazisand whatnot, very upbeat jingle. Um
and uh. It seems to gogreat. Everyone's there, everyone's loving it,
cheer and wo woo woo. Um. But the next day comes around
and Lexie tells Davante, Hey,Tanner's review is coming out today. That's
(03:28):
right. Tanner is the big highschool musical reviewer. Um. And what
he say says matters deeply. Healways just crushes him. He always just
actually rings him through the mud everytime. That's exactly right. Um.
And so they're waiting for that tohappen now. Principal Todman, Uh,
(03:50):
he's in a meeting with the teachersand whatnot. What she's been a part
of many times, Dan, howdo you how would you gray Todman's approach
to you know, these meetings. This is the scene that most people probably
didn't care about, and I lovedbecause I ran those meetings. And he
is running this meeting as poorly ashe can run it. But it looks
like a jump start meeting. Itdoesn't look like a faculty meaning, looks
(04:12):
like a before school starts. We'regonna have a quick pow wow about the
day. And he got injured atthe play, and so he's just going
in, just just bobbing, andwe even through this meeting and he just
decides, like on a whim,no cell phones, Like cell phones are
done. Like the reason, youknow, the reason he banned cell phones
is because at the play he cameout to do some announcements afterwards fell off
(04:35):
into the orchestra pit into a tubaand there's video, and so he doesn't
want the kids sharing the video. But he gives like, this is excuse
about how kids need to be moreyou know, face to face and blah
blah blah. And Jesse brings upthe fact that you know, you're blaming
phones for all this bad stuff, but there is some good things. You
(04:58):
know, team pregnancies down, youknow, because of phones and uh stuff
like that. And so she's like, don't blame phones for everything that's bad.
There's some good to them, andwe'll see if that comes to to
transpire in this episode, but nophones, and so homeroom or first period
or whatever, the teachers are goingaround collecting phones. Um, Lexie and
(05:23):
Daisy are having a conversation. Daisy'stexting, UM, texting, I'm sorry,
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'msorry. Um Daisy. Uh,
what's what's her name? Why don'tI have you here? Yeah? I
know that's the thing that I wastrying my best to get as quickly as
I possibly could. Oh, Ayisha, I'm so sorry. So Jamie and
(05:46):
Ayisha are flirting, texting back andforth all that's going on, and Ayisha
clearly likes Jamie UM, and Daisy'sgiving her a hard time about it,
like why don't you just tell themhow you feel? Blah blah blah,
and I like, she doesn't likehim as much, like he's a dummy,
dumb dumb dumb, right, andso she literally says, you know,
he's hot, but he's dumb. And instead of just you know,
(06:10):
saying it, her hand was accidentallyon the voice record button on her phone,
and it records and sends to Jamie, right and right as that happens,
the teacher's going around collecting the phones. That's right, So she has
no way to you know, taketakes me back seas, which you couldn't
do anyways. But you know, they also don't know if Jamie heard it
(06:34):
yet. Yeah, the last texthe sent her was meet me in the
hallway and he spelled hallway wrong.Good great man, but he meet me
in the hallway, So she's gotto meet him in the hallway, not
knowing if he's read this or heardthis voice to text or not. That's
exactly right. Um. She doesgo to the hallway and Jamie's sitting there
like flowers and signed by the locker, and it's like, let's you know,
(06:58):
let's get dinner, and she's trying, you know, she doesn't want
to wait because at the end ofthe day they're gonna get their phones back,
and so hey, let's just getlunched together since so we can actually
go on a date before you hateme forever. Essentially is what's going on
in her mind. Now, Machas a second phone, second cell phone.
(07:19):
That's right, of course he does, and he has come up with
a new scheme, and his schemeis to charge a quarter of minutes for
usage of said cell phone. AndDaisy keeps telling him that he's like it's
a pay phone. And he's veryadamant that it is not a pay phone.
(07:41):
He's an inventor. It's not apay phone. And so M Davante
and LEXI want to read the review. The review came out. They can't
read on their phone, so theygo in. They pay the corner.
They look up the review and Tannertrash is them thrashes the whole thing just
not good, not good, notgood. And so Davante uh alesa going
(08:03):
to talk to him and you know, kind of what like what he's talking
about, it wasn't bad, andhe tames giving him all this stuff,
and uh, Davante, I believelike kind of accidentally brushed by him,
you know, and he goes flying, flying like he's you know, flopping
on the basketball court, starts beatinghimself up, puts himself on a locker,
(08:26):
does this whole thing to try toget Davante in trouble um, which
he you know, you know thathe will. He'll call his mom and
and and that'll happen. Um souhAisha Jamie. They go on the date.
They're having a wonderful time and Ithe lunch day at the Max,
you know, the ones, andshe's like, what if we did this
(08:46):
day like it was our last dayever, what would we do? And
he was like, I would spendthe whole day, you know, doing
romantic stuff with you. So theygo back to school. They have a
couple of a couple of scenes. They have this one scene where they go
into the science room and they turnon the showers, the safety shower.
They you know, they're having likethis you know, sexy time. Uh
(09:07):
and the shower. It's very funny. Um. So Uh, Tanner calls
his momb and it's like, hey, uh, you gotta come up.
We gotta come up here. Yougotta get this guy in trouble blah blah
blah blah. And so they're gonnahold a trial essentially, uh, just
to see what comes of davante um. And so the trial happens and Tanner's
(09:33):
mom brought up hired some actors forrecreatements. Yeah, recreatement Uh. And
it's very you know, obviously different, very over the top, um blah
blah blah. Uh. We goback. We see Mac back in the
closet. He has attached his phoneto a chord and wrapped out around himself
(09:54):
because trying to steal the phone. That's exactly right. And he also has
a little zipper pope kids, andhe overhear you know. Uh, Daisy's
like, hey, you, uh, you're selfish. Of course you're capitalizing
on this. You're not doing youwould never do anything for anybody else,
blah blah blah. But he overhearsan information about Tanner. Tanner was out
(10:18):
with a girl at the Kanye Westconcert the night of the musical, so
he was not a musical exactly right. So uh so they decide that they're
gonna, uh, they want totry to get grandma, right, Yeah,
they want to try to get grandma. Davante doesn't want Grandma to come,
(10:39):
but they think that he needs anadult present. Um, And so
they go and they try to breakinto the phones, get the phones.
Grandma says, I'm withdraw exactly right. So they called call him. She
comes down, Um says I'm withdrawinghim, and that's the end of the
trial. While they're also with thephones, though, um, Daisy finds
(11:00):
Jamie's phone and he's just like,oh, that's my phone. You can
you can go on it. Andshe's like, you're you're not like worried
about me going onto your phone, and she's like and he's like, no,
uh, if we're starting something,we should never lie, we shouldn't
hold anything back. And that's theguilt trip she needs. That's the guilt
trip. And so she plays theaudio for him of her calling him dumb.
(11:22):
That bumps him out and he leavesdefeated. That's right. But they
say they find the evidence. Theyfind a picture of the girl with Tanner
at the Kanye concert. They goto you know, show it to him
and he's just like, oh mygoodness, this is uh you know,
I'll i'll, i'll, I'll fixit. And at that point, uh,
(11:46):
they're they're trying to to to stallessentially. So they go to Davante
and they tell him, hey,you got to fight to kind of make
the trial longer so that we canyou know, find Tayner shown the evidence.
Blah blah blah. And so shehe goes to Grandma. They say,
okay, we'll fight even though we'regonna lose. Uh, come come
back in and Tanner, you knowwith Jaws, the case says he overreacted.
(12:11):
Um, and you know it isyou know, everybody, everybody wins
there except for Tanner small. Essentially, she's bummed as she's like, I'm
gonna keep fighting because they don't likethe the Douglas kids there. They think
it's bad, bad das um anduh Jamie and I hia Jamie. Jamie
comes a Diosha and it's like, listen, you know, I am good
(12:33):
looking, I am hot. SometimesI'm dumb, but it'd be dumb for
me to let that stand in theway of us. Wow. And they
kiss, and they kiss. Theystarted making out, and Toddman is walking
down the hallway as the episode endsand sees just a school and despair.
There's fires all because apocalyptic people. We're just making out and like asking for
(12:54):
change to use the phone. Yeah, there's been like trickle of this the
whole episode, but at the endit's just full like we gotta have the
phones back. That's exactly right. So he clearly, you know, he's
come to terms of the fact thatphones helped make schools run okay and not
burned to the ground. And thatwas teen line. That's exactly right.
(13:18):
We're gonna break it down even more, share how he felt about it.
We're gonna take a quick break andthen we'll be back to share our feelings
on this episode. Here on backto bay Side. Welcome back to bay
Side. Good to be here,Dan, thank you so much. Um.
(13:39):
We're breaking this episode down teen lineand it is time for our next
segment. I'm fed scared, I'mso excited. It never does I'm so
excited. I'm so scared. Asa part to show what we talk about
whether or not this episode excited us, we liked it, scared us,
we didn't like it so much andexcited or scared so excited. Uh.
(14:03):
This episode did not have nearly asmany Quippi one liners in it. Um.
It didn't feel like it was likethat normal joke a minute pace.
But the the gags that are inthis episode really landed for me. Um.
The mac bit is my favorite Macbitum. At one point, he has
a giant bag of coins with agiant dollar sign on the outside of it
(14:26):
that's very easy to carry. Um. It is just pure Vald Bill kind
of stuff, and it's really reallyfunny. Mac just crushes in this episode.
I thought the Jamie and I Eastastuff was really good. Um.
I don't know if I like itas much as the episodes because this episode
is just so farcical like that there'slike literally dumpster or like like oil drums
(14:48):
just burning in the hallway. Itvery much is fantastical, and so for
that reason, it's maybe not myfavorite episode, but I loved it.
I laughed a lot the it weregreat Todd men lands a few times in
this episode. Two Uh, itreally worked for me, and I felt
like the gang was all together, which was new and different. They all
(15:09):
were there working together, so thatwas cool too, So excited for those,
um so excited for me, andI think it is my favorite episode.
For for what you said there atthe end, I felt like all
the characters. You know, there'sthree storylines to a certain extent going on
during this episode, and those threestorylines all come together at one point towards
(15:33):
the end. It all comes togetherto work together to kind of sum the
whole episode up right, And forme, it was the most complete,
the most whole episode you have.Every every characters has their their mark and
that is all kind of leading tothe conclusion of the episode. And so
for me, it was the mostcomplete. Every every character felt like they
(15:56):
actually mattered in this episode, ifthat makes sense, And I agree.
I think Mac it was Mac's bestepisode, but the bit, the pay
phone bit was just so funny. They kept getting funnier, and I thought
the line towards the beginning where she'sHe's like, that's going to be a
(16:17):
quarter and she's like, do youthink we just carry around quarters? And
he goes, what's the point ofa perth? I thought it was very
funny. Matt crushed in this episode. I think it's the most complete episode,
so it's my favorite. How aboutthe sign at the end that says,
uh, in search of metal money, Like they didn't even know that
they were coins? Did you seethat in search of round metal money?
(16:41):
I felt like, yeah, Ifelt like they're to your point. There
was less jokes, but there wasless bad jokes. I felt like the
jokes that were there, for themost part landed, really landed. Yeah,
they really I felt like it wasthe most well rounded up. This
is a really cool way to makefun of the fact that, as we
recall from the original series, thereis a pay phone in the hallway right
(17:03):
right, and this was the mostlike exorbitant way to be like this is
the you know, this is whatit is. And I found that to
be really really humorless for sure. And you know, and you know,
I they they're they're not being shywhen it comes to their political messages and
their show so far. And Ithought, you know, Lexie and DeVante
(17:27):
were working really well together and kindof this, hey, like the systems
against you, but you got tocontinue to fight, um and you know
you have friends now that are allcoming around you as well, and so
that whole thing worked. I feltlike, yeah, no, no,
I'm in I'm in on it forsure. Great episode, great episode.
It's time for our next segment.Have you done this before? From far?
(17:52):
I will send next episode is goingto keep going. We'll go from
there. We'll go from the timeout for the time Out. It's the
show we talk about the things thatmade us laugh, confused us, whatever
it may be, Um, thatmade us good time. How while we're
watching it, Dan, Yeah,I gotta shout out mister Dewey. Mister
Dewey. They don't say him byname. Mister Dewey is back in this
(18:14):
episode and it was awesome. Theguy's name is Patrick Thomas O'Brien. He
was mister Dewey in the original Savedby the Bell like he was in an
episode that aired in nineteen eighty nine, and he's back for this episode just
doing the same thing, and heis exactly the same and it's like this
guy's been teaching for thirty years andhe couldn't be more over it. And
(18:37):
it was Yes, yes, itwas so perfect and we all had that
teacher. Yes for sure. Itwas just there getting his paycheck, waiting
for his pension and it is.It was pitch perfect. I love that
aspect of this, no question aboutit. Um. I find it hard
to believe that Mac it is forthe bit, so it's hard. But
(18:59):
Mac is the only guy at Basidewith two cell phones. U. That
was a weird when or everyone's justso trusting that they just hand their phone
over immediately. I mean, wehad a no cell phone policy at the
school where I worked, but youhad to you had to put him in
the beginning to collect him at theend. Kids of class kids would try
to skirt that policy. Everybody inbase Ide just immediately handed their phone over,
(19:21):
no questions asked. I had anissue there, Yes, that was
my big issue with this episode isyou know I worked at summer camp and
I worked at school that's where youhad the phone policy. And all it
takes is a kid saying I leftit at home or I have one,
and like you can't like show thekid up against the wall, like I
know you have one. I knowyou have it. And so yeah,
(19:42):
but I did think that, youknow, Max reasoning for having to do
the phones was funny. It wasgreat he pays a kid to take the
phone that his parents are tracking.Uh. I thought that was great.
He almost everything he says in theepisode's goal is he really is funny in
this episode? U lastly, isSlater not paying rent? Um Slater?
(20:03):
There's a bit I don't remember theexact line, but it's basically like tell
that to my landlord is what hesays, and the and the inferring,
the like the intimation there is ishe's not paying rent, Like and I'm
just worried about Slater in general. If he can't afford rent on his salary,
where is he living? What's goingon there? It was a funny
(20:23):
line, but like, is thisguy like about to be homeless? Like
what's going on with Slater? Right? Yeah? Yeah, those are good
questions. I have a couple oneI I want to you know, Tanner
obviously wasn't there for this play.I want to know has he ever been
there for a play? Yeah?Because this review, you know, Lexie
(20:45):
points out as you know, he'sa hard reviewer, and this was very
you know kind of what he writes. Has he ever been to a play?
Well, I don't know if he'sever been to a play or not,
but I do know. My questionwas he knew a lot about out
the play. Yeah, Like hehad specific songs that he talked about,
and he was he going. Itseems like he put in more work to
(21:08):
miss the play than he did ifhe would have actually just gone to the
play. Yes, because he hadto be going to practices. He had
to be like, he had toknow the song list, he had to
do research. And I but maybethat's what he does for every play if
he rips all may and I andI just I want to know more about
this play because it you know, what we saw was Davante surfing, singing
(21:34):
in a very upbeat manner about killingNazis and an army outfit. Yes,
surfing in an army out an armyoutfit, coming home to see his girl.
And so I just need to knowmore about about the play because and
his boys are crying in the audience. That's there's a lot there, a
lot, a lot there. That'sexactly right. It's time for our last
(21:55):
segment. Well friend forever. Thisis UH. This is a tough one,
everybody. This is a tough one. It is. We got some
Dustin Diamond news this week. UM. Dustin Diamond has been diagnosed with cancer.
His team shared the news officially onThursday. UM. He was hospitalized
(22:19):
for a serious but unknown reason.UM. But now they can confirm that
Dustin does have cancer. A messageon Dustin's official Facebook account reads, Dustin
will disclose more information ones it's availableand plan on moving forward in his recovery.
They asked for privacy, UM,which I don't think anybody was knocking
(22:44):
on the door of Custin Diamond tobegin with. UM. But hopefully there's
some more information and if you wantto send a card, they put this
in the information could be sent. That's right to Insurance King care of Dustin
Diamond, one two seven North AlpineRoad, Rockford, Illinois, six one
(23:08):
zero seven M. You can alsoemail if you need Pink Daisy Entertainment at
gmail dot com. UM. Theyjust asked for no autograph request at the
time, because that's what that's notfor Pink Daisy at gmail dot com,
Pink Daisy Entertainment. UM. Soif you're they are saying, you know,
(23:30):
only send cards and stuff to theemail, don't ask for autographs money.
I will say the weird part ofthat article to me was it says
he has stage four cancer, butwe don't know what type of cancer it
is. Yes, and so stagefour could mean a lot of different things.
Um, yeah, he doesn't.They don't give that information. In
(23:53):
the official announcement UM that came outat recording the seventeen hours ago, it
just says we can confirm that Dustindoes have cancer, um, and we'll
disclose more information once it is available. So I think the stage four was
was rumored, but we don't havethat official information. We don't want to,
we don't want to want to,we don't want to spread in misinformation.
But we do want you to knowthat if you want to send a
(24:15):
MCCARTI can send that to Insurance King, Insurance King or Pink Daisy. And
please no, we're not trying tomake light of his situation, just who
he chooses to do business with.We did it. Everybody We're going to
be back next week with another episode. Until then, get back that class.
(24:49):
You know, Brian can't come inthe studio and I certainly can.
What is a what's pants? Uh? And somehow he still gets a producer
credit on this dumb show. Unbelievable. It's hosted by Brandon Dan. Get
back to the studio, get takessome tail, and I'll shake it off.
I'm I'm fine. I'm trying toI'm trying to keep things and Dan
(25:14):
and trays healthy. No, no, I smell a lot, a lot.
You'll never get it. You'll neverget a producer credit. How dam
are you? You'll never get agirl already married. Fade out, please,
