Pass with Victoria Henley on the FCBRadio Network. Hello everyone, and welcome
(00:29):
into another episode of Backstage Pass. It's Victoria Henley here and we are talking
to a very special guest today. This is Honey Jabriel. She is the
overall design winner of our spring MagnifiqueFashion Showcase. Honey, how are you?
I'm Nia. How are you,Victoria? I am doing just fine.
So, Honey, we just hadthe pleasure of meeting each other working
(00:52):
together last month at the Magnifique Showcase. You're from Canada, you have a
beautiful design label. Tell us alittle bit about that's all you've got started
and what inspired you? Yeah?Sure? So this Honeyco Fashion is a
friend store that empowers women about selflove through fashion and beauty. So how
(01:12):
we're starting about doing this is basically, we know that being a woman has
so many expectations and you know itcan be lonely sometimes, so you know,
why not do it together? Sowe aim to inspire women to come
out of their cell and be thebest version of themselves by empowering them up,
(01:33):
lifting women through motivational quotes, relatableexperiences, and just being vulnerable because
you know, we want to leteverybody know that you are not alone,
and we want to inspire them tolook deeper within themselves to know that they
are already beautiful and just to believeit, because if they don't, then
(01:53):
who will. So we are hereand that's how Miss Honeyco was born.
Absolutely, we love that. We'reall about that. I couldn't be prouder
of your overall design winning title. So when you found out that you were
selected, you know, we hadabout sixteen different designers from all over the
United States. What was your reactionwhen you found out that you had won?
(02:13):
I was ecstatic actually because I literallyjust you know, landed in Canadian
soil and I get this message fromyou saying that we have won, and
I literally screamed in the car, thinking, oh my god, we just
won an award. This is thefirst award for Miss Honeyco. So we
are so grateful and blessed to youknow, take part in this amazing show
(02:37):
with you in the production. Sothank you so much, Victoria. Of
course we'll thank you. We weresuch a so honored to have you there.
Honey, take us, Take usback to the beginning, when you
were a little girl. Did youalways know you wanted to do this?
What was what was the goal ordream? Initially, very funny question because
(02:57):
yet actually I don't even remember whenI started being in love with fashion.
I've always been something that I've been. I have directed to redirect it to
I've tried to stay away from it, you know, I want to move
on to like, you know, going in an office job and things like
this, but it always came backto me. So I knew that its
(03:19):
keep coming back to me. It'sit's a dream that I needed to pursue,
and it was just to to like, you know, unreal for me
not to pursue it. So wedid in one thing after another, and
here we are. That's great. So, honey, you talk about,
you know, being a woman entrepreneurand empowering and uplifting other women. Could
(03:44):
you share a personal experience or maybea number one reason why that, uh,
you know, mantra is so importantto you and to your brand.
Yes, it's important because I haveworked with in the retail industry and I
have seen women that come in andout and not feeling confident about themselves and
(04:04):
not really you know, loving theirbody in the clothes because they're thinking that,
you know, the closes and fitdown and things like that. And
I've always wanted to be the onethat tell them that they're already beautiful and
just having you know, the clothing, the pieces that make them feel more
confident is what Miss Hanicle is allabout. So I have worked with pageant
(04:29):
women all over Canada and the USas well, and the messages we receive
all the time is that you helpme brought out my inner confidence. You
helped me styled the pieces I woreto the pageant a week and I feel
so much more confident in my outfitbecause you know what we go through.
So we go through a whole stylingsession with we curate their collection and it's
(04:53):
a very one on one, caseby case basis with every person that content.
So we don't just have an onlinestore, but we also do a
lot of styling with women and empoweringthem and letting them know them reminding them
that they are beautiful just the waythey are. That's great. So let's
let's talk about inspiration and influence ifyou could pinpoint one overall designer adelaid retailer
(05:17):
who has really inspired you? Whowould that be and why? Ah,
that is a good question. Ican't think of anybody on the top of
my head right now, but Iknow that he's not a woman entrepreneur.
He's not a woman designer. ButMichael Costello comes to mind only because he's
(05:41):
so inclusive. He's so active onsocial media and he's always, you know,
all about also empowering women. AndI follow him on social media and
I admire him for what he does, and he's so talented, and you
know, I aspired to be likeone day. And I know he started
off as well on a reality TVso it can happen, of course.
(06:08):
Of course, So let's talk about, you know, any public figure,
as celebrity or otherwise that you coulddress. Who is your dream celebrity client?
Oh? I have not thought aboutthat because I always thought it was
a real far fetched too to do. But I would love to, Um,
(06:30):
see who would I dress? Um? All right, you're putting me
on the spot, and I gotanybody at the moment, Well, I
love I would learn to dress HeidiKlum. I mean she is beautiful and
you know, I've watched her showsas well, and I think that you
(06:51):
know, somebody like her, Iwould I would love to dress She's the
first person that came to mind nowthat you asked me, you will,
will put it out in the universeright now. I could absolutely see that
with your line. We will tagHeidi when this interview comes out. But
yeah, you're truly your line.Um what I what I love about Honey
and Company. You make the womenthat wear your clothing, I certainly know
(07:13):
I did feel like stars. Imean, it really is a beautiful,
very empowering line. So, Honey, tell us the future, Yes,
absolutely, the future of Honey andCompany talking you know, five ten years
down the road, where do youhope to see yourself and the company?
Um, Globo, I want womenall over the world to know who this
(07:35):
Honey Koe is, and I wantwomen to be more um, you know,
together and empowering one another. There'sbeen a lot of changer in the
world, I think, but I'llhave a lot of work to do and
I think that if we can doit together, the better. So being
(07:56):
just a global fashion icon, Iguess abolutely. So, Honey, how
