(00:24):
Welcome back to Bartalk. I'm yourhost, Abby Scilby. We're excited to
be back with another episode of bearTalk. I hope everyone is having a
great first month back at MJ.With us recently entering the new year,
I wanted to review a few thingsthat we all can look forward to in
twenty twenty four, and after thatBella will be back with Bare Beats ending

(00:44):
out with Bella giving you your weeklyupdate. With the help of Google,
I have found twenty four things tolook forward to in twenty twenty four.
First things first, I'm sure you'veheard, but if you have not,
twenty twenty four is going to bea leap year. So look forward to
that extra day in February and setaside some time to watch the movie Leap
Year. It is a heartwarming melodramathat is a must watch on February twenty

(01:10):
ninth. Another thing to watch isthe upcoming Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Paris,
France. Breaking or better known asbreak dancing, will debut as a
sport this year and it will bethe first time that male and female Olympic
athletes will be represented in equal numbers. Four movie watchers, we have a

(01:30):
few theater dates you don't want tomiss. On March first, June Part
two will be coming out, andon June fourteenth, Inside Out two will
be making its debut. Speaking ofdebut, four astronauts will step on the
surface of the Moon. This includesthe first black astronaut and the first woman
astronaut ever to do so. They'lljoin an elite club of just twelve people

(01:53):
to have walked on lunar ground. If you are interested in following along in
their journey, they are scheduled tolaunch in November. Speaking of the moon,
there will be a total solar eclipsecast over the United States, Canada,
and parts of Mexico on April eighth. For sixth thing to look forward

(02:14):
to, we have Steamboat Willie.Initially this may sound unexciting, but Steamboat
Willie was the show that Mickey Mousedebuted back in the nineteen twenties. Because
of current public domain laws, thecopyright on Steamboat Willie and therefore Mickey Mouse
is now in the public domain. As of January first. In Brazil,

(02:36):
there was a big public health breakthroughwith mosquitoes. In this ten year startup
program, scientists will be releasing modifiedmosquitoes that carry a bacteria that stops them
from transmitting diseases, which could potentiallysave millions of lives. Number eight.
Researchers are getting closer to solving theissue of long COVID and we might see

(02:59):
some new vaccines emerge in the nearfuture. Number nine, a new vaccine
that is supposed to fight against malariais expected to be distributed to several African
countries in twenty twenty four. Also, Mexico will be seeing its first ever
female presidents soon, with two womenrunning against each other to be the country's
next president, a historic first. The Catholic Church is making big moves in

(03:22):
twenty twenty four with its periodic meetingcalled the Synod of Synodality. These assemblies
were requested by the Pope himself. As for event number twelve, we have
Amazon turning thirty years old. Okay, so we're only halfway through my lists,
so I wanted to make the lasttwelve a little bit of a speed

(03:43):
round Already. Bridgerton will return toNetflix for Enticing season three for a Game
of Thrones enthusiasts. House of theDragon will be back on HBO for a
fiery second season. This is oneof my personal favorites. The Bear will
be serving up its third season onHulu as well this year. As for
music, we have plenty to lookforward to because Jennifer Lopez is releasing her

(04:06):
first studio album in over twenty years. Green Day will release their fourteenth studio
album, Savior. Taylor Stoft willbe touring in Asia and Europe next spring
and summer, before returning to NorthAmerica for more shows in the fall.
Hopefully this time I'll get my era'stour ticket. Speaking of iconic tours,

(04:27):
Billy Joel is touring, Stevie Nixis touring, Blinkwin eighty two is touring,
and Bruce Springsteen is touring All intwenty twenty four. George Strait and
Chris Stapleton will also be hitting thestage together this year, and finally,
number twenty four of all the thingsto look forward to in twenty twenty four.
You might think it's a little sillyor wholesome, but the new year

(04:48):
brings a sort of psychological clean slate. While there may be some bad news,
there is a lot of good tokeep us going. Although we can't
control everything that goes into our busylives, we do at least have a
bit of control over our perspective onlife. We are more resilient than we
think, and no matter what twentytwenty four brings, will face it together.

(05:12):
Be sure to tack us at MJUnderscore, Bear Talk in your socials
with the things you're looking forward toin twenty twenty four. I'd be really
interested to hear what keeps you goingagain? That is MJ Underscore Bear Talk.
And now to Bella with a newsegment of Bare Beats. Hey everyone,
welcome back to Bear Beats. Today. I wanted to talk a little
more about the Nashville rock scene witha garage rock band called The Clutters.

(05:34):
The Clutters are a little older thanmost artists have talked about so far,
getting their start back in two thousandand one. Since then, they've released
three albums, their debut album TNCin two thousand and five, Don't Believe
a Word in two thousand and seven, and Breaking Bones in twenty eleven.
Since then, there haven't been anynew releases, or none that I can
find. At least I try tolook them up on almost every platform I

(05:55):
can think of find any sign ofnew music. But the most recent thing
I could find was a Twitter orI guess account that hadn't been updated since
twenty fourteen, So I think it'spretty safe to say that there won't be
any new music anytime soon. TheClutters are originally composed of three longtime friends,
vocalists and guitarist Doug Lehman, bassistJake Rosswog, and drummer Stephanie Brush.
In two thousand and three, AllieTom was added to the group,

(06:17):
playing the organ. She remained amember of the group until late two thousand
and seven, later to be replacedby Todd Kemp on the electric piano and
guitar. In two thousand and eightand around twenty eleven, Lehman and Brush
split out from the group to forma duo that they called The Mystery Twins.
The Twins kept the same garage rockfeel that The Clutters pioneered, but
added their own grunge folk kind oftwist to it. Their releases are a

(06:40):
bit more recent, releasing an EPtitled Love Is Strange in twenty twelve and
an album titled Ghosts in the Groundin twenty thirteen, five singles under the
title I'm Not Like Everybody Else intwenty fourteen, and two singles under the
title TV Talk in twenty sixteen.Their Twitter also has not been updated for
a few years, since twenty seventeen, to be exact, so I'm fairly
sure there will be no new musicfrom them either. Back to the Clutters,

(07:03):
I have nothing but love for theirmusic. I listened to their first
album, TNC, and it's easyto say I'm in love like I don't
know any other words. I know. I say good things about every artist
I review, but they might justbe my favorite. Yet I may be
biased given my love of garage rock, but we're gonna move on. The
first song I listened to was atrack titled rock and Roll. Before knowing

(07:23):
anything about the band, I thoughtthis was gonna be a little play on
words, like they were gonna namethe track rock and roll and it would
be like this mellow indie song thatwasn't rock and roll. I was pleasantly
surprised to find that I was wrong. It wasn't like hardcore death metal rock
and roll, but sort of reminiscentof like the Foo Fighters style, not
in really like definable way, Ithink, but they sort of had the
same kind of upbeat, feel goodrock sound that The Foo Fighters has.

(07:46):
Another point on the album that reallystood out to me was a transition from
the songs Polaroid to the song whenWorlds Divide. One of my favorite things
when listening to an album is oneof the songs perfectly blend into each other
without missing a beat, and thesetwo songs do just that. Polaroid ends
with a rhythmic beeping, likely fromtone on the organ, followed by one
long beep that carries into win World'sDivide. When that song starts, the

(08:07):
background instrumentals pick up, with thedistinct guitar riff popping into the background.
The organ fades away perfectly and thenpicks back up again later in the intro,
and it sounds beautiful, like it'sactually seamless. It's kind of crazy.
Overall, the clutters are great.I know I've already said this,
but I think they might just bemy favorite band we've reviewed so far.
If you want to give them alisten, I've put their album T and

our Instagram bio at MJ Underscore bearTalk. That's all for now, thanks
