(00:00):
Bear Talk is produced by the Golden Bear Gazette Mount Jolay High School student newspaper.
(00:04):
Hi everyone, welcome back to Bear Talk. I'm Katie and here are tell you seniors
everything you need to know about the ACT that you will take on campus on October 29th.
(00:29):
First it's important to be well rested and mentally prepared on ACT Day so make sure you get
plenty of sleep. Try to eat a good breakfast before the test unless breakfast isn't your thing.
And on the way to school listen to some relaxing music or an interesting podcast to make sure
you are calm, cool and collected on your drive-in. And don't forget to charge your Chromebooks
(00:49):
the night before. Make sure you remember to bring all those essentials. Hey Katie, where is everybody?
What are you doing here Brady? I came to get information about the ACT. Aren't you going
over the details? Yes, I'm recording it for Bear Talk. Oh, whoops guess I interrupted, huh?
(01:13):
It's no problem. Can I get back to recording now? Oh yeah, sure thing. I'll just sit here and listen.
Okay, back to the essentials. In addition to your Chromebook and charger you also need to bring
your driver's license, permit or school ID and... Hey Katie. What now Brady? What if I lost my wallet?
Well you should probably cancel your debit card. No, I mean what if I don't have an ID? If you don't
(01:34):
have an ID you will have to find a teacher in the building to come to your testing room and identify
you. Better just to find your wallet and get in with an ID than to deal with any extra stress.
That makes sense. I'll be quiet now. Please do. Anyway, calculators will be provided if you need one,
but you also have the option to bring your own trusty calculator if you prefer. Just check the ACT
(01:55):
website in advance and make sure it's an approved calculator. Hey Katie. Not now Brady. Sorry, I'll
sit with it. Let's recap. Make sure you do bring your charge Chromebook, charger, your driver's license,
permit or school ID and an ACT approved calculator if you wish. The most important thing is to be here
on time. You will not be able to take the test if you show up after it starts. You will also not be allowed
(02:19):
to have your phone or smartwatch on during the test. You may want to leave you these in your car.
If you are not a fan of that idea go ahead and turn your phone off and put it in airplane mode
and put it in your back. You'll also put all your stuff in the front of the room when you walk
into your test room. You will also have a break in the middle of the test. PHDSO is providing snacks
(02:41):
so this is a good opportunity to take a bathroom break, eat a snack and have a drink. Just don't
overdo it. Finally, and most importantly, make sure to bring a note from your parent or guardian
giving you permission to leave. You'll also give your note to your test proctor. Don't forget,
believe me, you'll want to go home and take a nap after the test. That's all for now seniors.
Good luck on- See years. This is just for seniors? Why am I here?
(03:03):
I've been wondering that myself. Don't worry. Juniors will get to take the test for free in the spring
so you can use all this info then. That's all we got for this week. Keep it Classy MJ and
good luck on the ACT.
Classy MJ and good luck on the ACT. Good luck on the ACT.
(03:32):
One more time. Three, two, one.
