Speaker 1 (00:02):
EGM Network.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
From Studio A in Sunny Florida. Welcome to Beauty and
the Beach Radio, where it's all about who's beautifying Vero Beach.
Today's show is brought to you by Dale Lawrence in
Real Estate and here's your host and Glamour Girl makeup
artist Cindy Gets.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Hey, guys, welcome back to Beauty in the Beach Radio.
I am so excited. I hope you're watching me on
Vimeo because I have a little tray of treats and
it actually has a lot of my favorite things. But
you guys, it's fall. I know. Last week Cindy and
I helped you get ready for fall with your house. Cindya,
(00:49):
I think you were going to clean up the front
yard or do some painting. Did you get fall ready?
Speaker 4 (00:53):
So you know what I did. I cheated.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
You just got a new pillow?
Speaker 4 (00:57):
No, no, no, I didn't. I didn't. I didn't. So
I said to myself, so I have a person that'll
cut my grass when I can't get to it or whatever.
Friday it was super busy and I was like, oh no,
I forgot to call so and so to do the
grass right because I got to leave the money in anyway,
I got the lawnmower out, filled up with gas, reeled
it to the wheeled to the front yard, and who
shows up, Oh, your kid or your No, him the
(01:19):
guy that cuts my grass because he does some other
people's in the yard. And I was like, oh my,
and usually he does it in the morning, so this
was like two or three in the afternoon. So I'm like,
oh my gosh, it's you.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
But you didn't cheat.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
So he cut the front and I cut the back.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Oh and you didn't cheat. You said you wanted to,
you know, clean it up.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
It didn't have to be you, right.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
So yeah, we talked last week about how to get
your home fall ready, how to get your business fall ready.
I know, I said I was going to change out
my pillows. I did a little extra than that. I
actually did some decluttering Sinday. So you inspired me on that. Okay,
So this week, you guys, we're going to be talking
about fall foods to give you that beauty. You know
(01:59):
here on Beauty in the Beach Radio, we're all about
beautifying your life, and so I thought, why not let's
dive into some fall foods that really make you look
and feel more beautiful.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
And you know I'm ready for the fall foods. Yeah,
I know it's still kind of sticky here, but I
was gonna wear blah blah blah clothes and I'm like, no,
summer's done. I need to go to the fall. Totally done.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
It's totally done. So I have a train in front
of me, and we have we're gonna be talking about
these fall foods right in front of me. So just
like a pumpkin, let's get carbon.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
That was I do this? I should have had I
should have had the button?
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Do we have a boy? I totally give you permission
to boin, gone, gong me, whatever it takes. I'm totally
up for that, all right. So guys, we are we're
falling in love with fall foods that don't just taste amazing,
but also keep your skin glowing, your hair shiny, and
(02:59):
your body. Hell these so from pumpkin uh to to cranberries,
we are gonna we're going to cover cover it all, Okay.
And so since we're talking about carving pumpkins, I'm going
to get right to my first and my favorite. And
I think we all think about pumpkins, whether we have
them outside of our front door, whether we're making foods
with it. Pumpkins are just so magical during fall? Wouldn't
(03:22):
you grease? Indy?
Speaker 4 (03:23):
I totally, And you know what I'm gonna say, I'm
gonna I'm going to out myself. I did not realize,
you know, all the years that you carve pumpkins. I
was like, Oh, you can actually eat them?
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Oh my gosh, stop it. You're the one that eats
all the raw food I get. Okay. I was like,
oh you can. I cannot believe you.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
I cannot believe you.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Sure, Okay, Well, how cute is this little guy? I
wish I wish I did a little face on it
for you. But I'm holding just a small little pumpkin
in my hands. He will go on my counter after
the show. But we want to start with pumpkins, you guys,
I will not reject pretty much anything with pumpkin. Pumpkin muffins,
(04:04):
pumpkin bread, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin lattes. Girl, I'm like pumpkin.
Middle name Pumpkin, right, Sindy just got me Cindy Pumpkin.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Yeah. Yeah, I even eat the pumpkin stuff out of
the can. Yes, yes, I love it. And you know what,
I put it on pancakes with Makah.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
That's a great idea.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Yeah, it's like a stuffed pancake.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
So pumpkins are rich in beta carotene, so that gives
the skin a beautiful sun kiss glow. Okay, so the
beta carotene, you've got that in your pumpkins. And it's
also high and vitamin a. Now, vitamin a helps skin
repair and stay smooth. Okay, we're all about smooth skin
right now, right, Sindy.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Any day of the week, any week, right.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
So, I you know, I Cindy just shared with you
how she loves to eat pumpkin. I think I just
told you I'll have anything. And I will say, kind
of going off a way you just said earlier about
you didn't know you could, you know, eat literally the
pumpkin part. But when we would carve pumpkins as a kid,
and of course the pumpkins would come out of our garden,
(05:11):
Mom would roast the seeds.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Yeah, yea, so good, so good.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
You never did that or you hate them. I'm not
sure why you're being quiet right now.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
I don't really like them. I like to buy the
ones in the store, but I never got the trick
to make them good myself.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
I just salted up.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Yeah. I don't like salt.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Oh that's the problem. Okay, Well, anyway, seeds for me, Cyndy,
seeds for me. So guys, get your pumpkins. It really
doesn't matter if it's in a can. But it's got
that rich bit of caroteene and vitamin A, so good
for you. Okay. So the next thing we're going to
talk about, Oh, by the way, a little tip you guys,
(05:55):
pumpkin smoothies. So yeah, so you're going to use that.
But you're also going to use sweet potatoes. And now
I learned something a long time ago from Cindy. Now
I don't know, you said you would eat potatoes raw.
Does that include sweet potato?
Speaker 4 (06:14):
They're too difficult to eat? Why? Different to me? It's
just it's too hard to chew through this thing.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Just different color.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
No, they're not. The sweet potato ones are more stringy
where the white potatoes don't have the stringy stuff to it.
In my opinion, that's my opinion. I eat the raw
white potatoes.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Okay, Well, guys, this is another fall product. It's your
sweet potato, and of course it's got the fall color.
Because it's orange, so easy to remember. You got your pumpkins,
you got your sweet potatoes. So sweet potatoes are also
rich and beta caroteen, which converts to the vitamin A.
Sweet potatoes also help repair skin damage and keep it soft.
(06:57):
Lots loaded with antioxidants, which helps to fight skin damage.
You'll see a lot of Skinker products and they promote antioxidants.
That's what they're doing is combating the oxidation of your cells.
So sweet potato so good. So let's let's do a
little pumpkin smoothie pumpkin roast sweet potato. So you just
(07:19):
you know, put those two together purea, maybe with a
little oatmeal. It's I've not tried it, but you know,
I thought it sounded pretty good.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
So I think with yogurt, maybe in some honey. That's
the other thing with the sweet potato is you have
to actually, like when you just said roasted sweet potato,
because that's the stringiness of it. To try to do
it ross. If you put the raw in this moothie,
it's not going to be that. No.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
No, it's got a roast.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Yeah, yeah, it's got a roast. The other thing I
was thinking to a lot of times people will make
a casserole with the marshmallows and the sugar and all
that stuff. You really have to eat this sweet potato
with just like nothing on it after it's roasted.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Well, I was gonna say that was going to be
my next thing, is how do you like to eat?
Speaker 4 (08:03):
I just eated plain?
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Okay, So I do love love love love a Thanksgiving
when you have that sweet potato cast roll with the marshmallows,
with the pecans, all that syrup. Love love love love.
But you're right, Cindy, I digress like this, you know,
just a sweet potato, maybe.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
A little butter. I don't put the butter on it.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
I like it's too good.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
No, it's not that I'm good. I just don't like
I put a ton of butter on like raisin bread
and bagels and stuff that I do.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Well, potato, if you can eat this roasted a load,
it is so good for you. Let's just say that,
all right. So you've got your pumpkin, you've got your
sweet potato. The next thing that is great for fall,
and it's got you know, not orange, it's reddish and
it is cranberries. Now, so okay, wire cranberries. So they're
(09:00):
they're really powerhouse for anti aging. So they're high in antioxidants,
which we just mentioned, and also vitamin C VITAM and
C is so good for you, you guys, I'm going
to put this in the other hand.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Yes, vitamin C is phenomenal. And you have to replenish
vitamin C every day. Yes, like a stay in your
body d you will. But see no, I'm good right now.
I got too many buttons suppressed crane berry. Yeah, but
the CEA you have to do every day. I think
it's like a thousand mili. I don't quote me on that.
Something every day just drop.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
So that's oh my gosh, so good. So okay. So
cranberry is high inoxident vitamin C okay, mentioned earlier. They
fight the free radicals. It's going to brighten your skin.
It's natural detoxifier for a really nice, pretty clear complexion.
Great for immune support. Yes, during seasonal changes yep. Now
(09:54):
we don't have a seasonal change as much here, but
we still have it. We still get cold, we still
get flues, and so load up on your your cranberries. Now,
I will say, my mom every morning she has this
crazy concoction. Cindy She has cranberries every morning, and what
she does is she sprinkles it on her oatmeal, hot oatmeal,
(10:18):
which doesn't sound too unusual, but she also loads it
up with so many other things, including chocolate chips.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
You know, I try, she loves. I tried chocolate chip
oatmeal a while ago, and I don't like oatmeal. I
don't like it at all. I'd rather have grits, just
me or whatever. Yeah, well, I'm.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
A Southern girl, but I can't do grit I.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Love grits, but that chocolate chip oatmeal was to die for.
That would be the only way that I would eat
oatmeal well.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Every morning, and I swear my parents are going into
one hundred and she is having her cranberries every morning.
She does not miss. If you go to my house
in Virginia right now, there is a good stash of
these in the pantry.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
Yeah, no, I can't. And then the chocolate, and you
know what, that gets your chocolate fixed too, But it
actually gives you a better fix because now you're eating
the silly oatmeal and I can't stand. But it's good
for cholesterol.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
And all that.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
She that she loves her hot oatmeal. Yeah, but the
only cranberries are some chocolate chips.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
So there's my tip for you for some crap. Now.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
She also makes We've talked about this around Thanksgiving, but
she also makes a really yummy jello jello salad for
Thanksgiving that has cranberry whole whole cranberries. It is so good.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
I love jello salad in that. If you mentioned that name,
it's always no good. But I love jello salad. My
mom used to make the orange one with apricots and
our peaches or whatever. It was like a PTA thing
that she brought this like first signature dish for the PTA.
I loved it. This was the sixties, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Oh my god, so good. Yeah, So guys, you know this.
This is a great little snack. You know, you can
just travel with these. They're just easy to carry around.
So grab yourself some cranberries, all right. So the next thing,
and I cannot live without these. They're everywhere in my
in my condo. And that's nuts and seeds. So I mean, Cindy,
(12:21):
I love pecans, I love walnuts, I love cashews. I mean,
oh my gosh, I love cocktail peanuts. I just love them.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
I love any nuts but almonds.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
I love almonds. I do not like a basso here.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
You want a peanut, No, I can't because I got
I'm going to be chopping.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
I know you turned me down on cranberries.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
But god, I love these. I love them. I love them.
I love them, and then I eat too many of
them because I love so many. Because you know, that's
the other thing. You gotta watch the one you're eating too.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
That's true. That's true, And.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
You got to go lift and weights. That's what I'm doing.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Well, okay, well, one thing at a time. Let's just
talk about food. Yeah, okay, So nuts and seeds really
good for hair and skin strength, so pecans, walnuts, pumpkin seed,
cindy high in omega threes and zinc. We don't really
talk about zinc too much.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
But thats a big deal.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Zinc is a big deal. So you get great shiny hair,
strong nails, very supple skin like all those things that we.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
Want, right, and it works for me. Yeah, and then
you get the free radicals or whatever and the antiaxidents
and all that.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
So you can make a really fun trail mix. Now,
I gotta tell you again, we're kind of going off
the grid. Here because but anyway, we're just talking about fall.
My friend makes the most yummiest and you're not gonna like,
get the most yummiest trail mix for fall. She takes
cocktail peanuts and she mixes it with candy corn. It
(13:53):
is but you know, I love a candy corn. I
could go through a whole bag. Oh my gosh. Yeah,
it's like pure sugar butter. It's delicious. No, she will
mix that with some peanuts and it is like the
yummiest shut up, the yummiest fall trail mix so good.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
You know what I do this? I found the button.
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
Now, it's whatever. It's different than M and m's in
a trail mix.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
It's sweet, right, I just don't like candy cores. Okay,
it's okay. I mean if you like it, it's whatever
you like. Listen, I'm eating raw potatoes and you have
candy corn.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
I'll ry. I think that's a good deal, all right,
So definitely definitely.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
Not some seeds.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Yeah, got some seeds right now. Of course, if you're
gonna be carbon pumpkins, get those seeds roasted so good
for you. Do not throw them away?
Speaker 4 (14:51):
Yeah, no, I buy them and you know what. The
other thing that I love to is pistachios, the shell pistachios.
I could eat them all day long. Oh yeah, and somema.
What's the one to eat? Sunflower seeds? Oh, they're so
love for you to love them, love them.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Love, love love. But I don't like to pluck them
out of this Now I.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Cheat and buy the hits done. Yeah, I mean it's
a couple of bucks more, I'm.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Not gonna Okay, So the next thing on my tray,
the final thing for all all fall foods. We've got
the pumpkin. We have the cranberries, the nuts, the sweet potato.
The last thing and I think you when I mentioned
it actually at the last show.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
Cinnamon totally. And you know what I was going to
say that when I because I didn't see your tray
until you came into the studio. That is the other
thing too, that be mindful of the different herbs, seasonings
and stuff like that with they in part for your
body as well. Cinnamon is phenomenal for diabetes for sure.
(15:50):
Not Meg, you got all these other ones that you
don't use all your life.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
It's not terragon.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
I mean those a summer kind of ones. But yeah,
be mindful of those seasonings.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
So so cinnamon U is for circulation, Okay, so you
boost circulation, which obviously is going to give you that fresh,
healthy skin tone. Okay, natural? Uh, it just it just
kind of helps to heal the inside of the body.
I know that sounds kind of crazy because it's just cinnamon,
but it really does. Now, I I will tell you
(16:22):
my how I like to use cinnamon for fall. I
know it's it's muld cider.
Speaker 4 (16:29):
Did you ever love? I could drink that?
Speaker 3 (16:33):
Just know what that is?
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Do you want?
Speaker 3 (16:35):
So it's it's basically apple cider, and then you put cinnamon.
You can you can do a nutmeg, you can do
some citrus, like some orange if you want. But it
is to die for good, Like it just warms the
soul and you gotta you gotta drink it warm. But
there's cinnamon in there, you guys, it's so delicious. So
(16:56):
if you want a reason to to use cinnamon, and
you can. Actually I've put it in my tea hot
tea before I have to, and I hot chocolate put
cinnamon in it.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
But you gotta be mindful of the sugar with some
of that stuff too, that mold cider has got a
ton of sugar. So if you can get ones that
likes fresh pressure or something. I was in New England
last fall and that's all I went from place to
paste drink and mold cider.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
So is there something else that you like to use
cinnamon for Cindy?
Speaker 4 (17:23):
Well, I do it within any of the breads and
stuff like that that I bake, or apple pie and stuff.
I overload the spices because I like it that way.
You know when they tell use a teaspoon, I'm using
like a couple of tablespoons. Good because I just like it,
and I just pull back on the sugar.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
Right, good for you.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
I just pulled back on the sugar. All right.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
She's gonna save the marshmallow sweet potato cure.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
You guys.
Speaker 3 (17:48):

We talked about pumpkins, We talked about cranberries, We talked
about nuts and seeds, and we talked about cinnamon. We
(22:34):
talked about sweet potato. Cindy, do you have a favorite
out of that?
Speaker 4 (22:40):
You know what? I think probably all the seasonings. Okay,
so cinnamon, salamon, nutmeg. You know the pumpkin pie spices
which is cinnamon, nutweg ginger things like that. I love
those spices. I do rosemary, some of the ones that
are like heavier spices that maybe you don't use as
much in the summertime.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Well, and we were talking off the air that these
things are so accessible, they're natural and so good for
your body.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
Yeah they are, and fresh better than dried. Right, but
those are relatively inexpensive, right, I mean, then that's a
buck fifty or something for a whole hand of whatever.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
Yeah, Cindy, So do you do you make pumpkin bread?
Can I talk you into making? I don't know, I
have I do somebody, maybe some funking bread or pumpkin pie.
I love pumpkin pie. Ye may make pumpkin pie. I
do you make really good pumpkins?
Speaker 4 (23:31):
I do, and I make. I do make pumpkin bread.
I use the can stuff, organic can stuff. I can,
I can.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
I request that I'll make it break Yeah, I will.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
I'll make it my.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Yay, where's my favorite button?
Speaker 4 (23:43):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (23:43):
I love pumpkin pie. And it's sad to me that
it only happens usually only during fallen holidays, you know.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
Yeah, I wish you could, but well, I make it
when I want to have it, I'll just make it
and like or something.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
And I cook a turkey in June too, I don't care.
I buy two of them at Thanksgiving, put one in
the freezer because they're dirt cheap at Thanksgiving, and then
I'll cook it in June or July. I love it. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
We got to get our butterball friends on the again
this year, so I love having turkey talk with them.
All right, you guys, Well, hopefully we got you ready
for being more beautiful, feeling more beautiful inside and out

think I'm gonna maybe dive into my cranberries right now
