Speaker 1 (00:07):
Hi, everyone, Welcome to this week's episode of Beverage Chronicles.
Gary montros of here. I'm going to start by telling
you about an event coming up in Hamilton on Saturday,
March fifteenth, and this is from noon to five pm.
This will be the Hamilton Brewmasters Beer Crawl Saint Pattie's edition,

(00:32):
and I'll read you from the press release. Get ready
for a day filled with craft beer, good friends, and
lots of fun in Hamilton. Join us as we hop
from one brewery to another, sampling some of the finest
brews in town. Whether you're a season beer connoisseur or
just looking to have a good time, this event is
perfect for you. Hang out with the brewer of your

(00:55):
choice from either Chimney, Rustic Ales, Snouts and Stouts, or
Three Threes. You'll get to experience roughly an hour at
each of Hamilton's three breweries before returning back to your
starting brewery. Grab your green attire and get ready to
raise a glass with fellow beer enthusiasts. It's going to

(01:15):
be a day to remember. Okay, So this starts at noon,
As I mentioned, from noon to five pm. Groups will
depart their starting brewery at one thirty with the Chimney
group going to Snauson Stouts, the Snauson Stouts to three
Threes and the three Threes to Chimney. The second move

(01:36):
will be at three pm and the third move will
be at four thirty to return to your starting brewery.
That sure sounds like a lot of fun because in
part all three breweries in Hamilton are really sensational. Again,
that would be Chimney, Rustic Ales, the brand new snouts
and stouts and three Threes. Now you can get more

(01:57):
information by going to event Bright or if nothing else
in Okay you a good idea might be just to
contact one of those three breweries and get all the specifics.
And I also want to tell you about a sier
that I tried recently and enjoyed from a company called
bold Rock Hard Cider, which was founded in twenty twelve,

(02:22):
and this has become a top regional craft cider brand
in the United States. They are known for their hard
siders made from locally sourced apples in Virginia and North Carolina,
and in terms of distribution, they primarily cover twenty states,
mainly along the East Coast, and they have broadened their

(02:46):
offerings to include Hard Ta Hard Lemonade, craft spirits and
ready to Drink cocktails or the RTDs. So I recently
tried their Imperial r Insider, which features quite an intense
orange flavor with a truly refreshing experience. It comes in

(03:08):
it weighs at eight point two percent ABV, and this
cier combines apples from the Blue Ridge Mountains with orange
complimented by a very subtle touch of lemon and lime,
resulting in a really smooth and tasty drink. Now you
can follow this company by going to Boldrock dot com

(03:30):
and ask for it at your local store. And I
think they also have an Instagram account if I'm not mistaken. Okay,
let's get started with the rest of the show.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Hey, everyone, get ready because today we're taking a deep
dive into Dogfishhead Breweries twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Lineup exciting stuff, I know.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Right, And you know what's extra cool about this year?
Dogfishead actually asked their fans what they wanted to see back.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Oh wow, so they kind of crowdsourced some of these releases.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
They did, and let me tell you, they gave us
a lot to talk about, from year round beers to
seasonal ones, and even some old favorites making a comeback.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Throwbacks always get people excited.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
For sure, So let's jump right in and start with
what's pouring year round. First up, we have the return
of seventy five minute ipa.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Now that's a classic, and it's brewed with a touch
of maple syrup.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Maple syrup and an ipa. That sounds interesting, right.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Might seem a little out there, but you know, more
and more craft berries are getting adventurous with their ingredients.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
These days, so it's like a trend, definitely.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Pushing the boundaries of what an ipa can be.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
I like it. Speaking of pushing boundaries, have you seen
this tropical squall mango and pineapple in an Imperial Golden Ale?

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Oh? Yeah, that one's going to be a flavor explosion
for sure.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Imperial Golden Ale. So what does imperial even mean?

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Basically, it just means it's a stronger version of a
Golden Ale, higher ABV, more intense flavors. In this case,
those tropical fruits are going to really amp up the fruitiness.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Gotcha, like a flavor squall hitting your taste buzz?

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Oh exactly.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Now we've also got citrus squall, which is a double
Golden Ale with like Polona cocktail flavors.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Yeah, I saw that one, blue agave, lime and grapefruit.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
They're really going all in on those bright, citrusy flavors.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Well, you know, lots of people are looking for beards
that are refreshing and flavorful and something you can enjoy
a few of without getting too overwhelmed, sessionable, as they say, exactly.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
But for those who prefer something a little more classic,
there's always the sixty minute IPA, a.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Solid choice, a tried and true East Coast ipa.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
And for the more health conscious drinker, they've got sequench
Ale and Slightly Mighty.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Good options there. Sequence is a really interesting one. It's
actually a blend of three different styles. Three Yeah, Kulsh
Ghosts and berlin erwis.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Wow. That's a unique combination, it is.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
And it makes for a really tart, slightly salty, but
super refreshing, surreal.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
And then there's Slightly Mighty, which is a local ipa.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Yep, only ninety five calories per can.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Ninety five Seriously, that's amazing. It's like they say, you
can enjoy craft beer without the guilt exactly.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
It opens up a whole new World for people who
want to be mindful of their calories.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Love that. And before we move on to the seasonal stuff,
we can't forget about the Blue Hand pilsner.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Ah. Yes, they're locally sourced Delaware barley pilsner.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
So good. It's like a taste of their home.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
State, it really is. And you know what I find
really interesting about Dogfishead is how they balance all these
innovative flavors with more traditional style.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Yeah, they're not afraid to experiment, but they also stay
true to their.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Roots exactly, and that's what makes them so appealing to
such a wide range of drinkers.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
I agree. So are we ready to dive into those
seasonal releases?

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Let's do it. I'm ready for some serious flavor exploration.
All right. So we're back and ready to tackle those
seasonal releases from Dogfishead.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
I am so ready for this. My taste buds are
primed and ready.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Okay, well, let's kick things off with spring.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Shall we. Let's do it. What do we have on deck?

Speaker 3 (06:51):
First? Up, we've got the super Dope EO, a really
interesting Italian style imperial.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Tiltner Italian style pilsner. I'm intrigued. What makes it Italian?

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Well, it's brewed with spelt malt, which gives it a
unique kind of spicy, almost earthy flavor.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Spilled malt. Huh. I've never had a beer with spelt before.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
It's definitely different. It adds a nice complexity to the beer.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
I'll have to try that one. And then there's the
Spring Variety pack, which includes the sixty Minute Ipa and
Slightly Mighty that we talked about earlier.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Right, but the real star of the pack is the
new Midnight Cascade.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Midnight Cascade that sounds pretty intense.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
It is.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
It's a black eyepa, so you get that roasty coffee
like flavor from the dark malt, but then they layer
on a ton of.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Hots so like a hoppy stout.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Yeah, you could say that it's got a really interesting
balance of pine, citrus and roasty notes.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Okay, I'm adding that one in my list for sure. Yeah.
Now what about summer?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Summer brings us the Fastina peche a peach infused Berlin
or Wece.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Oh, that sounds perfect for a hot day.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
It is light, tart, effervescent, and that peach flavor really
comes through. I can practically taste it now and then
for those who prefer something a little stronger, we have
the one hundred and twenty minute.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
IPA's like the King of IPAs it is.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
It's massively hopped and has an ABV of around fifteen
to twenty percent.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Wow, that's a serious beer.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
It's not messing around. But you know, despite the high ABV,
it's actually got a lot of nuance.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Really, I always figured those super high ABV beers were
just all about the alcohol.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Nope, there's a ton of flavor going on in the
one twenty minute. You get citrus, pine, tropical fruit, even
a little bit of resin.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Wow. Okay, I'm definitely gonna have to try that one. Yeah.
Now moving on to Fall, what do we have?

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Well, of course we have the classic.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Punkin aal Oh yeah, everyone loves punkin Ale.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
It's a Fall staple for a reason. You know what
I love about dogfish Heads version.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
What's that They use real pumpkin. Oh so it's not
just like pumpkin spice flavor.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
No, they actually brew it with real pumpkin brown sugar
and spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
So it's like a real pumpkin pie and a.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Glass pretty much, but way more refreshing.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
And probably less guilt inducing. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
And then we have Liquid Truth Serum, which is an
IP made with multiple hop forms.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Multiple hop forms, what does that mean.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
It means they use different preparations of hops, like pellets, extracts,
and even fresh hops.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Oh wow, So I bet that gives it a really complex,
hoppy flavor.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
It does. It's super dank and piny with a nice
citrusy backbone.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
That's delicious. Yeah. And then the big news for Fall
is the return of two fan favorites in the Fall
variety pack.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
That's right, Raisin Detray and chickry Stout are back.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Raisin Detray that's the Belgian style brown ale right.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Yep, brood with beet sugar and raisin.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
I remember that one. It's so unique, it really is.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
It's got those classic Belgian yeast flavors, but then the
beet sugar and raisins add this amazing complexity.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Like a sweetened fruity but also earthy kind offlation exactly.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
And then there's chickry Stout, which is brewed with chickery
and liquor shroot.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Chickery and liquorice root.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
That sounds intense, it is, but in a good way.
The chickery adds a nice roasted coffee like flavor, and
the liquor shroot gives it a touch of sweetness and
a hint of anis.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
So it's like a coffee and liquor stout.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Yeah, it's really interesting and definitely worth trying.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Okay, I'm sold. And then finally we move on to winter.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Right, for winter, we have a brand new beer, the
Triple Decadence Worldwide Stout.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Triple Decadence. What makes it so decadent?

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Well, for starters, it's an imperial stout, which is already
pretty decadent on its own, true, but then they age
it in three different types of wood, Palasanto wood, dogfish
Head's own Let's get Lost, whiskey barrels, and Samuel Adams
Utopia's barrels.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
Whoa Utopia's barrels.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
That's crazy, I know, right, it's like the ultimate beer indulgence.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
So what kind of flavors can we expect from this
triple wood aged masterpiece.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Well, the Palisanto wood is going to give it some
nice coconut and vanilla notes. The whiskey barrels will add
oaky richness. And spice, and then the utopia's barrels will
contribute sweetness and depth.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
So it's like a symphony of flavors.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Exactly.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
I need this beer in my life like.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Now you and everyone else, I think.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
And then there's covered in Nugs, which is a more
traditional IPA.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Right, This one's for all the hopheads out there. It's
super dank and piney with those classic West Coast hop flavors.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
So good, back to basics kind of beer exactly. And
last minute, we have another throwback Pennsylvania Tuxedo.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Oh yes, the spruce infused pale ale.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
That was a real classic. I remember having it years ago.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
It's definitely a unique beer. You know, spruce tips are
actually becoming more and more popular in brewing these days.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Really.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Yeah, it adds this really interesting woodsy, almost pine like
flavor to the beer.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
I'll have to keep an eye for that, you should.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
So there you have it. Dogfish Heads twenty twenty five
Seedonal lineup.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Wow, what a lineup.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
I am seriously impressed. They've got something for everyone.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
They really do. They've managed to balance innovation with tradition
and create a lineup that's both exciting and approachable.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
I couldn't agree more. All right, all right, well let's
take a little break and when we come back, we'll
explore those lighter options from dogfish Head, perfect for those
easy drinking moments. Okay, so we're back, and now it's
time to switch gears.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Time for a change of pace.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Exactly. We've been talking about all these big bowl beers,
but dogfee Shed also has a lighter.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Side, right, some nice refreshing options and you know what.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
That's what we're gonna explore now. Yeah, those easy drinking,
sessionable bruise, that kind of.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Beers you can just kick back and relax with.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Exactly. So where should we start?

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Well, how about Sea quench Ale.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Ah. Yes, the one is like a mashup of three
different styles.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
It is caulsh Ghos and Berlin or Weisa all in one.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
It's like a sour beer party in a.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Can kinda and they add black limes, sour lime juice,
and sea salt to the mix.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Wow. So it's tart, salty and refreshing all at the
same time.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
It really is. It's like the ultimate thirst quencher.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
I can imagine myself sipping this after a long day
at the beach.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Oh yeah, Or by the pool.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Definitely a summer beer for sure.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
And it's surprisingly versatile too. You compare it with all
sorts of food like what well, seafood for one, the
tartness cuts through the richness of the fish.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Oh yeah, I can see that. And what about spicy food.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Spicy food too, the saltiness kind of tames the heat.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Okay, I'm sold. I need to try the sequent chail.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
You won't regret it.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Now.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
For those who want something light but still hoppy, there's
slightly mighty.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
The low cow ipa.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
That's the one, only ninety five calories per can.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Still can't get over that. How do they do it?

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Magic? No, I'm kidding. They use monk fruit as a
natural sweetener.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Monk fruit, what's that?

Speaker 3 (13:24):
It's a melon that's super sweet but has almost no calories,
so they can.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Get that sweetness without all the sugar.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Exactly. It's pretty ingenius, it is.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
And it means you can enjoy an ipa without feeling guilty, exactly.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
And then finally we have the blue hen Pilsner.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Ah. Yes, they're owed to Delaware brood.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
With locally grown barley.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
It's like a taste of their home state in the glass.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
It really is a classic pilsner done right, crisp, clean
and refreshing, perfect for any occasion.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
So there you have it, folks, the lighter side of dogfish.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Head a whole range of beers that are perfect for
those easies you drinking moments.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
And with that, I think we've come to the end
of our dogfish Head deep dive.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
What a journey it's been.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
I know right. We've explored their year round beers, their
seasonal releases, and even those throwback bruis.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
We've covered it all, and.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
I have to say I am truly impressed by dogfish
Head's commitment to innovation and quality.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
They're not afraid to push boundaries and experiment with new flavors,
but they also stay true to their roots.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Exactly and that's what makes them so special.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
I couldn't agree more so.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
To all you beer lovers out there, we hope you've
enjoyed this deep dive into dogfish Heads twenty twenty five lineup.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Cheers to dogfish Heads, and.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Cheers to all of you. Go out there, explore some
new beers and find your new favorites.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
