The following program was pre recorded andnow here's Hank Canagraph. Thanks so much
(00:52):
for Andy. We will go directlyto our calls. First up today as
Dennis. He's listening in Houston,Texas and the way. Hi Dennis,
Hello Hank, thanks for your ministry. I'm a Christian artist, music artist,
and I'm wondering how do we recossizeearning money from record sales if the
Gospel is supposed to give it freely. And also one other question is that
(01:14):
I heard a lot of Bible teacherstalk about stewardship and a new tessment.
I'm wondering if this is how neededis biblical, and if so, does
my ties and offerings have to goto a church or can they go to
fund my own music industry or anyoneelse in the industry that I've wanted to
give money to. Yeah. Well, first of all, remember, though
the gospel is free, someone hasto put in the plumbing. In other
(01:36):
words, it takes resources to doanything. And if you want to pursue
the particular career that you're pursuing, one of the ways you can do that
is through selling the music products thatyou develop, and through those resources you
can invest in developing more of yourmusical talent for the glory of God and
(01:57):
for the extension of His kingdom. So there's absolutely nothing wrong with selling what
you have. I mean, aworkman is worthy of his wages, and
certainly you would be in that categoryin this particular circumstance. Secondly, let
me say this that as far asstewardship is concerned, this is the New
(02:19):
Testament principle. We are called tohold everything we have with an open hand
so that God can take out andput in as he sees fit. Tithing
is but a means towards this verypractice. It is learning to depend upon
the arm of God as opposed todepending upon the arm of flesh, and
as such it has been rightly calledthe training wheels of giving, or the
(02:44):
training wheels towards stewardship, where yourecognize that you simply cannot outgive the Lord.
Okay, so you think that benstewardship, that I could still give
towards any ministry have to go.Well, the reason why I'm asking,
I want to a word of faithchurch, and I left that church in
light of your ministry and listening toyour ministry and find it out true,
(03:06):
true, and so we decided notto give our ties to that church any
longer. And so I'm wondering becausethat basically, could I support any other
ministry that you know, maybe Ichose to or even like I said,
fu my own ministry. Well, let me give you the basic principle.
The basic principle is that the churchis the God or in dane vehicle through
which we worship the Lord and spiritedand truth through which we experience oneness,
(03:31):
and through which we are equipped togo out and impact the world. So
I think the church should be aprimary place of support. But having said
that, I think that ultimately justas you if you were investing in a
company, you would do your researchand you would make sure that your investment
is really a wise investment. AndI think when we exercise stewardship principles with
(03:54):
respect to the Kingdom, we wantto do the same thing. We want
to invest in ministry that are bearingabundant, abiding fruit, ministries that God
has ordained and opened up a fruitfuldoor of ministry. For this is a
wise stewardship investment for kingdom purposes, indeed, for the consummation of the kingdom,
(04:17):
which was inaugurated by Jesus Christ duringhis first coming and will be consummated
when he appears the second time.Okay, thank you, you got to
Dennis. Thank you so much foryour call back to the phone lines.
We'll talk next to Peter in Hastings, Nebraska. Hi, Peter, Hi.
The question I have for you ismy wife is divorcing me, and
(04:42):
the question is is it okay forme to remarry? Well, if an
unbeliever is not willing to stay inthe relationship, the believer is not bound
in that circumstance, as indicated bythe apostle Paul in First Corinthians chapter seven,
so the answer would be yes,if she is an unbeliever leaving the
(05:02):
relationship, you're not bound in thatcircumstance. Now, having said that,
the greatest good always comes when youleave open the door for possible reconciliation,
because that becomes the greatest of alltestimonies to the world. But remember,
forgiveness is always a two way straet. It takes someone who is willing to
(05:26):
forgive, it also takes someone whois wanting to be forgiven. Without that
two way process, reconciliation ever takesplace. Right, I understand that now
you mentioned that if she's an unbeliever, that I'm not bound anymore. She
claims to be a believer, Well, there's a big difference between a said
(05:46):
faith and a real faith. Anyonecan say that they're a follower of Jesus
Christ, but followers of Jesus Christlive as apprentices of Jesus Christ. They
live their lives in concert with Hiswill, his way, and his purposes.
And of course, the Bible isvery emphatic that we shouldn't seek a
(06:08):
divorce. Now, there are somecases in which there are activities that take
place within a marriage that rise tothe level of desertion or adultery, and
that then make divorce a possibility. But even there, because I mentioned just
a few moments ago, we shouldalways seek to work towards reconciliation. So
(06:30):
if she is genuinely a believer, that's her heart, that's her goal,
that's what she wants to strive towards. If there are no compelling reasons to
get a divorce, we shouldn't geta divorce. And when I talk about
compelling reasons, I'm talking about reasonsthat would have a biblical basis for ending
(06:53):
the relationship. Right. I talkedto her yesterday. She cites a number
of different reasons, But initially Icommitted a sin about twelve years ago that
I confessed a couple of years ago, and it would run along the lines
of being sexually immoral, and thatwas her initial reason. Right. But
(07:15):
even here, I mean, ifwe sin, we confess our sins and
know that God is faithful and just, and we'll forgive us our sins and
cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Andif God is willing to forgive us of
our sins, we ought to bewilling to forgive one another as well.
That is not an easy thing. To do, because when there's marital infidelity,
(07:40):
there's a breach of trust and it'svery hard to regain or rebuild that
trust. But this is the kindof thing, this is the pattern,
this is the example of living thecrucified life. We're living not by the
world's standards. We're not living fortemporary fixes. We're living for eternal verity.
So even in that kind of acircumstance, we shouldn't invoke an escape
(08:05):
clause. We should invoke the opportunityto exercise the principles of the kingdom.
Right, I agree, Thank you, Hank. You got it. Peter.
Back to the phone lines. We'lltalk to Melvin next in Dallas,
Texas High Melvin. How you doing, Hank, I'm doing well, thank
you. I have a question foryou regarding faith healing. If I'm studying
(08:28):
the Bible correctly, I'm noticing thatin the Book of Acts is where you
seem to see the biggest event orthe biggest portion of faith healing. And
I felt like it was just togive validity to the Gospels. And then
I believe when you get into theepistles, you don't really have as much
or I really don't see them asmuch. As see that much faith healing,
and so I was just wondering whatyou thought about that. Well,
(08:52):
certainly Jesus and the disciples are ina unique category as the cornerstone of the
church, the foundation of the church, and therefore they're encounters with evil,
with Satan, with diseases and sicknesses, the maladies of this world. Are
(09:13):
encounters that are going to be alltogether other than the encounters that we have,
because we are neither Christ nor arewe those upon whom the foundation of
the Christian Church is built, orthose who comprise the foundation of the Christian
Church. So we can say that, yes, those miracles, those cases
(09:37):
of deliverance, attest to who theyare, and therefore what they're doing is
not normative. The normative state ofthe human condition is that we all get
sick and eventually we all die.The death rate is one per person.
We're all going to make it.It's not until Jesus appears a second time
(10:01):
that a new order of things isushered, in an order in which there's
no more death, mourning, crying, or pain, for the old order
things has passed away. Behold, then everything becomes new. So we are
looking forward to what we do notas yet have, and we are waiting
for it patiently. In the meantime, Because the miracles of Christ attest to
(10:26):
Christ, and the miracles of theApostles attest to their authority, we can
test all things in light of whatthey have written and hold fast to the
good one O the quick appended note, and that is that faith healing has
a prostituted sense of what faith isin most circumstances. To begin with,
(10:48):
to the faith healers in the modernChurch, faith is a force. Words
are the containers of the force, and through the force of faith one can
create their own reality. Biblically, faith is a chance of living trust between
an individual and their God, andtherefore faith is only as good as the
object in whom it will be placed. We'll be right back at just a

Once again, here is hand cautigraph. Thank for my trendy. We'll go
right back to the phone lines. We'll talk next to Pat listening in Tyler,
Texas. Hi, Pat, I'vehad a burden on my heart for
some time. This happened many yearsago. I've been a Christian a long
time. But I was on atrip with my husband, and I felt
so much love for God in myheart, and I thought, I want
(15:30):
to dig them up out of theditches if I have to. I just
felt like I was spilled with theHoly Spirit. And I don't know why.
I'm on that trip. In theclouds got dark looking and all and
I looked up and I said,God's coming again. And I'm not ready
for him. And then all ofa sudden, on the radio, a
broadcast come on, and Sarah hadlaughed when God told him she's gonna have
(15:50):
a baby in her old age,and said, you have put your hand
to the plow and you're not fitfor the Kingdom of God. And I
felt like God had just said thatdirectly to me. I don't know why
I wasn't worried about anything all ofa sudden, It's just like God could
say that to you in a radiopicmonitor. Hmm. And that's my question.
If I am blasing the Holy Spirit, pat if you had blasphemed the
(16:15):
Holy Spirit, you would not becalling me with concern in your voice.
You would not care about Jesus Christ, and you would not care about the
Kingdom. The very fact that youcare means that you do not have a
hardened heart. You have a softheart towards the things of the Spirit.
And blasphemy the Holy Spirit is neveran act that happened at a particular time,
(16:40):
confirmed by radio broadcast. What itis is it is a continuous,
willful, ongoing rejection of the loveand grace that could be yours. So
as long as you are in theflesh as you are now you realize you're
a sinner. You've repented of yoursin, received Jesus Christ as Savior and
Lord. You are his and heis yours. You are now a living
(17:03):
stone in the temple of God.You're not perfect, neither am I.
But you are a living stone inthe temple of God. You have received
the righteousness of Jesus Christ. You'rea child of the King. And don't
let Satan deceive you or put doubtin your mind. If Jesus says,
whoever here's my word and believes himwho sent me has everlasting life, you
(17:27):
have to say, I trust Jesus. If you hear his word and believe
in Jesus Christ, you have everlastinglife. Well, thank you very much
for taking mon coal. You gotit my privilege. Pat thank you for
your call. I want to goback to the phone lines. Tracy next
(17:48):
listening in Illinois like Tracy, Hi, how you doing, appreciate your ministry.
Glad to talk to you. Niceto talk to you. Story.
I Christian since I was in highschool and for many years I believed in
the left behind style of rapture belief, and in around two thousand. Around
(18:08):
the year two thousand, I startedto realize it didn't seem right, and
then I figured out kind of whatI believe. And then when your book
The Apocalypse Code came out, itbasically reinforced what I do. My feeling
was that why I was here itwasn't right. I really appreciate your writing
that book. What I called abouttoday was something of modern the newest thing
(18:33):
to come on the market, whichyou mentioned yesterday, the Harbinger, and
I've read it. I saw avideo about it first, and I've read
it, and I believe also thatit's a newspaper theology and it's sensationalism.
Again. But I do have aquestion about it. Isn't it possible since
the Bible shows us principles about howGod works the same yesterday to day and
(18:56):
forever, isn't it possible that Isaiahnine is a blueprint for how He judges
nations, If not, how doeshe judge nations today? Well, I
think certainly it is true that thisis a principle that can be applied in
general. But Isaiah ninety ten doesnot have to do with the twenty first
(19:21):
century. The prophet warned of comingjudgment upon the unrepentant people of the Northern
Kingdom of Israel, and their dayof reckoning came to pass in seven twenty
two when the Assyrian hordes took theminto exile when the Northern Kingdom was destroyed,
and then later judgment of course cameon the Southern Kingdom. But I
(19:45):
don't think that we can take thisnow and make it a blueprint for saying
that what happened then is going tobe exactly what happens to other nations when
they rebel. I don't think wehave the warrant or the prophetic prowess to
say that. Can we say,in principle blessings for those who follow,
(20:06):
in cursings for those who rebel?Yes, but I don't think that we
can make the direct application such thatnine to eleven was God's judgment on modern
day America. Certainly there is aconsequence to sin, and we face those
consequences, But we dare not gobeyond what the Bible says, or take
(20:29):
something that has nothing to do withthe twenty first century and then project the
words of Isaiah into the twenty firstcentury. We can take the pattern,
We can take the principle. Butwe can't take the text and say this
has to do with the modern epic. Okay, so it's taken. The
person who's writing the book is takingthat isolated as to that and making a
(20:55):
chapter in verse the same today insteadof just taking the principle involved realizing that
it's blessings for those who who followGod and out for the other. Yeah,
and when the Lord talks about thetwo salom, he makes very clear
that we shouldn't make the application, that that is not a prerogative that we
have. That's true. Well, that's good. I wanted to hear that.
(21:18):
I really like your ministry and Iappreciate all you do. You got
a tracy. Thank you for yourcallback to the phone lines. We'll talk
next to Lynn Estonia, North Carolina. Hi Lynn, Fine, how are
you doing good? Thank you friendsof mine who said that if we're following
Jesus, we need to do whatJesus did. And Jesus was just Jewish,
(21:41):
he practiced Judaism, so we shouldbe at least somewhat observant. Poor
observant, you know, fixed prayersand observing feasts and the tabbas. What
do you say to Yeah, whatI say to That is what the writer
of He would say to you.If you read through the Book of Hebrews,
(22:03):
you find that the clear truth iscommunicated that to go back to types
and shadows when the ultimate sacrificial Lambhas fulfilled those types and shadows is ten
amount to trampling upon the sacred bloodof Jesus Christ. So Jesus Christ comes
into an epic of time in whichthe temple sacrifices are being followed. But
(22:30):
Jesus says, I am the livingTemple in your midst. And therefore he's
pointing to himself, not to luminouslimestone or glistening gold. He's pointing to
himself and saying, I am thesacrificial Lamb. And thus when the sacrificial
Lamb comes, there's no need forperpetuating temple priests and sacrifice. The problem
(22:53):
in his day is that this isprecisely what the teachers of the law wanted
to do. They wanted to perpetuatetheir traditions though they had been fulfilled through
Jesus Christ. And that is whatis ultimately the great crime. It is
not recognizing that the living Temple fulfillsthe promises fulfills the type and shadow that
(23:18):
was first given with the Tabernacle andlater manifested in the temple. So when
the substance comes, we have toleave the shadow behind. Doesn't mean that
there is not historical significance or meaningthat can be garnered, but we should
not go back to type in shadowwhen the ultimate sacrificial lamb has come back
(23:41):
to the phone lines. Want totalk next to Justin. He's listening in
Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Hi, Justin good, How are you good?
Thank you? Just one question isI heard somebody say that the four
major prophets Daniels, he kills,Jeremiah, and Isaiah, we're all alive
(24:03):
at some point at the same time. Is that true? No, I
don't think that the stretch of theirlifespans would permit it, Okay, because
I heard that Jeremiah would have beenyoung, and Isaiah was Ezekiel was the
oldest, and Isaiah was fairly oldas well, and then Daniel was also
young, and at some point theywere all alive at the same time.
(24:26):
So that's not accurate. No,I don't think so. Because of the
time that Isaiah prophesied. I thinkthat that epic of time would preclude that
possibility. Okay, okay, okay, I did have one other question.
I don't know if you have timeor not. You have time for us?
Yeah, go ahead. In theBible talks about seven different baptisms,
(24:52):
and I'm just wondering, like baptisminto body baptism, to suffering baptism,
to fire baptism as the Holy Spirit, baptism into the cloud water baptism.
How do you go about finding outmore about what those mean for us today?
Well, context is always determinative, and if you go to each one
of the passages and you look atthe context, the context tells you what
(25:17):
is in view. And this isa great object lesson the question that you're
asking, in that we need toalways interpret words and phrases in the context
in which they're used. So theword God, for example, can be
used in many different ways. Theword God can apply to Satan, he
is the God of this world. It can apply to the representatives of God
(25:41):
to the people though they are notontologically God, and it can apply to
God himself. But the context determineswhat is in view, and the same
thing is true with the idea ofbaptism. The context in each one of
the cases that you mentioned will tellyou the meaning of what is in view
(26:04):
in the particular kind of baptism thatis being communicated within the context of scripture.
