West Coast offense were starting to be copied by a
lot of teams in the league. So, you know, Scotty,
the thing is is the system allowed me to go
out and not have to change. When I got in
the West Coast system, you know, I had a better
understanding of the game of football. And as slow as

the game was for me as a veteran, it slowed
down even more getting that system. And you know the
thing about catching one hundred passes is you got to
have a quarterback that that will give you opportunities. And
I had Don mccowsky for that first year under Mike
home Grin, and then I got Brett Farr, and those
guys gave me probably more opportunities than any receiver could

that score. So yeah, they made it easy for me
to get to one hundred. To let me say it
this one, they made it easy for me to be
the first to catch a hundred passes in back to
back season.

So when I look at the wide receivers who are
in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, I'm looking around.
I see Charlie Joiner, I see Paul Warfield, I see
guys Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, But I.

Don't see a guy who is built like you.

I think guys who are general managers and personnel directors
started to try and find the next sterling Shark.

everybody played straight up, bump and run.

The safeties were two and two.

the corners were long guys yep, you know. So for
me in order to balance out because I had to block,
because I played inside a lote, I needed to be
a part of that four hundred and six hundred club,
four hundred pounds dance, six hundred pounds squad, and I
had to find a way to balance out these corners

with their speed. So I had to develop a power
game that would allow me. I'm not gonna be able
to run forty fifty sixty yards with these fast gals,
but what I can do, I can beat them down
on hitchies and slaves and let's see what they look
like after seven eight to nine tackles.

And that's what I've tried to take pride in as
a player.

a violent art, form but it's beautiful because you're trying

position that you can dominate them and that you can
and have. Success so that's the PART i really loved
about it was that mental challenge and how AM i
