Speaker 8 (07:21):
I gotta see what a great d A lot of
good football games are.
Speaker 11 (07:25):
On tap all over the world of college football, the
big games coming up the Ohiose State versus Texas. They'll
try and be the good old boys up from the
great North. You'd be nuts to go against Ohios Date
in a game like this, their favorite by one all's
free level word. I want to find out what a
good old friend of mine thinks about college sports. Oh
(07:47):
my goodness, and can't wait for the kickoff. I want

Even then, you guy said, look to be like, I'm

college football. I'll get back into the moment. All right,
(08:22):
I'm back from the Big Seed Ball. Also on that

Speaker 8 (08:32):
Oh oh bah, the black hole in the universe. What
a great name. It's college football and it's week two,
even though they call it week one. Some teams playing
last week.
Speaker 11 (08:42):
But I got a great friend on the phone by
the name of Jimmy, and Timmy knows this thing about
college football, the fast and e collegiate referee.
Speaker 8 (08:49):
Timmy, how's it doing and your deck in the woods?
It is hot in California.
Speaker 10 (08:54):
Yeah, well, we actually have a cool down out here
in Mestlahoma. It's uh.
Speaker 8 (08:58):
We've been saying it however tongue and.
Speaker 10 (09:00):
We see temperatures not get into the eighties. Yeah, you know,
we start the mornings off that way, you know, me
in August. But it's been pretty cool, it's pretty nice.
Speaker 11 (09:09):
So well, it's one of us wonderful I'll get right
to it. Obviously, college football it's only second.
Speaker 8 (09:15):
To pro football. And before I even get into that,
I want.
Speaker 11 (09:18):
To get thoughts on your great friend Jerry Jones deciding
he does not want Michael Parsons might.
Speaker 8 (09:23):
Be the best even as a player in NFL football
right now. He decided to let him go to Green Bay.
But why let him go to your own division? Your thoughts?
Speaker 10 (09:33):
You know, according to what he said, he was shopping around,
and he said, if he only wanted to trade Mica,
if a team that has has enough room on the
cap and that can also return a alignment the defensive
calcul ready to play right now. Yeah, and so you
know he's not too concerned about Micah for whatever reason,
(09:57):
he doesn't want to take that big money next year.
You don't think him this year? Yeah, so you send
him on off. You know, Jimmy Johnson being something similar
when he first got there, he had herschall walker. Yeah,
that's why I said Herschel in Minnesota, and then Minnesota
sent uders the draft picks and then what came out
of that, well they winning three Super Bowls. Yeah after that,
So it may get a pretty big moves.
Speaker 8 (10:18):
It might be some overall because three heads are better
than one.
Speaker 11 (10:22):
But right now you're not gonna see I mean, how
many more moves do you have if you're Jerry Jones
and you want to win a Super Bowl?
Speaker 8 (10:30):
Right now, they have a pretty decent offense.
Speaker 11 (10:32):
Defensively, I think they let go their best defensive player
to get guys that are not going to be as good.
Even if you get three players for him, you can't
put those three guys on the field at the same time.
Speaker 8 (10:41):
But it's his money. He's a multi billionaire.
Speaker 11 (10:44):
Why is it a multi billionaire concerned about an extra
million dollars here there for an athlete?
Speaker 8 (10:48):
Your thoughts?
Speaker 16 (10:50):
You know, I.
Speaker 10 (10:52):
Haven't believe that there's more, there's more to the story. Yeah,
but you know we we we met day in time
where folks steel of the white hood mentality without wearing
the hoots.
Speaker 16 (11:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (11:06):
Yeah, it's so, you know, they just don't He's not
gonna He's not gonna be celebrated in one of the
best defensive players. Think Charles Henley's you know a few
years ago as Henley, which is damn it, you know,
but he didn't get he didn't get all the phrase
in glory that he should have got you. Yeah, So
I don't believe the Jerry's willing to do that to
(11:27):
put somebody on the pedistal, to put him you know,
uh in the Star. I'm just saying, he appears to
me he's just going to unpurpose, not to allow folks
to progress to that level.
Speaker 11 (11:39):
Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. A lot of people
in Dallas, even some of the greats, are wondering, why
let this guy go? I mean, a guy that can
ship the field, why let him go? Especially when you
open up and gets the defending Super Bowl chap in
Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 10 (11:53):
At thoughts and Eagles are in their division. Yeah, you know,
that's just a vision. You know that the Congress's division,
they seem to people twice a year. Yeah, and that
makes it tough. But I just don't I don't believe
that Gary is counting a positive season. That's just my opinions,
and make moves like that. You you killed the momental,
(12:14):
you killed the excitement level. Uh, this seems like the
number of jerseys, the number of the eleven jerseys, the
number eleven jersey get born. Yeah, across the across the
country with passes on the back of it. Yeah, okay,
and Willions ship them away. That's the same. That's pretty
much the same to the move. If we give with
Luca Duncis, yeah, sing him to the Lakers.
Speaker 8 (12:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (12:33):
I guess the city of Dallas doesn't want to have
marquee players. See if they want to start with some
guys that they can keep rebuilding all fair level war
But his money and a billion that does?
Speaker 8 (12:44):
What a billion that does?
Speaker 11 (12:46):
I want to jump down to the world of college football.
There's no bigger game in the world of the college
football this weekend than the good of buds in the
Texas Longhorns and all of that tradition and oil money
going up into the state of all oh that's what
he hates, think of the woods. But this Ohio state
under Ryan Day, they don't resemble anything that what he
hates put on the field.
Speaker 8 (13:07):
Give me your thought as.
Speaker 11 (13:08):
A good boy that follows those programs down in Oklahoma
and Texas down the SEC. Now, give me a feeling
about Texas being able to go up there with the
high control winner.
Speaker 8 (13:17):
They say, they already say he's a winner that potrophy.
Speaker 11 (13:20):
I don't know if Manag's going to be that yet,
but your feelings are in Texas being able to go
up there and compete, and that knows one hundred and
four thousand your thoughts.
Speaker 10 (13:27):
Well, you know in our opinion. You know, I've watched
Texas over the years, and they have they have as
much money as any of the program in the in
the country. Yeah, okay, so you can get all the
players that you want to get, Yeah, and they have.
It was just the players what they do they wouldn't
get They got no start in there. Yeah, and so
Esus has made a major difference. And so now he's
(13:49):
taking his dictionary skills, you know, his father like attitude,
you know, hold the field and with these players and
they still have forget some of the best recruits across
the country. Yeah, now they can play, they can make
sense in playing the games. I like what they have.
I like how they sat there and I believe they're
gonna beleave the key all year because of the coaches set. Yeah,
(14:12):
the coaching half has made a difference, you know, for
the University of Texas nown Texas, but they've always had
great recruits for yet years, but they never had this
level of a great coaching chaff as they have now.
So I believe they're going to go into Ohio State,
go field Columbus, and I'm believe they gonna call off
an upset where I don't know if it's an upset
when you're ringing number one, right, Okay, they you know
(14:33):
home field advantage, Yeah, definitely, it's planted, you know for
the shooting.
Speaker 11 (14:38):
Yeah, the Buckeye is the obviously Ohio Sates for everybody
won to one and a half depending on who you watched.
But last time when they played in the Cotton Bowl
or House State beat them.
Speaker 8 (14:47):
It was twenty eight fourteen.
Speaker 11 (14:49):
Saxons are trying to go on and and tie the
game late and fourth, but they had the intercession return
for a touchdown. But that was a game that was
played neck and neck down in Texas and the neck
of the woods in the out. But now they grow
up and they play outside where obviously Ohios is gonna
be waiting for them. Now under Ryan Day, they've only
lost three times at home. They lost once to Oregon.
(15:10):
They lost twice to Michigan Texas the same kind of programs.
They have a new quarterback they're starting out up at
Ohio State. But all the talk right now is on
sophomore Archie Manning, the nephew of Peyton Manning and Eli Manning.
In a course, you know, his granddad did his thing
in the Hall of Thing. But there's so much talk
about the boys coming in town from Texas that this
(15:32):
really may not be as much pressure on the boys.
Ryan Day and the Buck guys they lost in Oregon
twenty twenty one, Michigan twenty twenty two, and twenty twenty four.
Speaker 8 (15:42):
Do they lose again to a team.
Speaker 11 (15:44):
That they just finished beating up one and gave Texas
that last lost of the season.
Speaker 8 (15:48):
Last of your thoughts?
Speaker 10 (15:50):
So they you know, Ohio State has no pressure. They're
playing at home, they have they have every good to
be a band shit for me because they are the underdog. Yeah,
that cooks a pressure of them. So if they go
out and just do their regular routine, okay, very well,
they're disciplined. Yeah, and that's the least thing about watching
these guys play. Yeah, they're very disciplined. They come from
(16:11):
disciplant programs, you know, from high steel. Yes, they know
what they're doing, and so I believe they're going to
believe the road on on that field and just relaxed.
Texas has that chip on the shoulder because they have
something to prove. Yeah, because and so that gives a
little bit more oily just tightened up the butt checks
and that's.
Speaker 11 (16:31):
What it does.
Speaker 8 (16:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (16:34):
I love the way you're good boys talking about intensity
at the same time as it typed up the spectre.
I kind of look at our house state. That could
put a lot of fear in a guy that could
be playing in the NFL. I know people say that,
but Jeremiah Smith one of the best receivers in color football,
A Heisman's favorite at whide out. He had a true
reshman season last year, seventy six sketches, thirteen hundred earths
(16:55):
and fifteen touchdowns on seventy six receptions.
Speaker 8 (16:59):
He's a guy they can take at the house any
time and get the ball in his hands.
Speaker 11 (17:02):
I'm not saying Randy Moss yet, but he surely has
a lot to look at when it comes to Randy
Moss and a guy that gets like a fear in
any defense, Your.
Speaker 8 (17:10):
Thoughts and how they get the ball to him early
and offen against Texas.
Speaker 10 (17:13):
Your thoughts, Well, they're gonna I think Texa's is gonna
end up putting it, putting two men on him. I
don't believe he's gonna be running aund just running free
all day longer. Right, So they'll disguise with as a man,
and they're gonna get in a zone, you know. But
I believe they're gonna have They're gonna have a defense
for him, because the guy is very exciting. First of all,
(17:33):
come in as a freshman building he did last year.
Those numbers are out sandy, and you know they're definitely
concerned about his His benning distressed at field. You know
that at speed, So you know there's a Burker game
for him right there. Texas also has players of that
same caliber, Yes, and so, but when you can put
two people on him versus just m yes, okay. So
(17:55):
I believe that the second receiver for Ohio State isn't
have a much better game.
Speaker 8 (18:00):
They're gonna have to.
Speaker 11 (18:00):
Even when you think about Ohio State on the offensive
side of the ball, they have a former five star
prospect rest Reads freshman Julian saying at quarterback it doesn't
have a lot of experience. But anytime you go to
one of these big programs Ohio State Texas, you already
are a shoe in to start if you were at
probably half the other programs in the country. So it's
(18:21):
going to be a freshman in their quarterback resor freshman Sarkesian.
They have to blitz and blitz and blitz and blitz.
They have to try to do something to get that
young man a nerve that makes sense to you. But
if they blitch a lot, and you know, Ohio State
already saw what Texas gonna throw out him last year
in the Cotton Bowl, it seems like it's a neck
and neck game. If this game were in Texas and
(18:43):
it wasn't Texas last year and Ohio State still won
that game, do you think Ohio State's not getting maybe
what they call the respect that they should to come
into their house and do with only three teams have
done under Ryan Day and that's beat them, that's been
Michigan twice Oregon.
Speaker 8 (18:57):
Once your thoughts.
Speaker 10 (19:00):
May yeah of house say they okay with having less coverage,
they're having less attention. That hints up so much more
off the players. It makes it easy for the coach,
and they having coaches media. I don't believe that that
it's going to make that big of a difference to them.
But the list the media is focusing on Texas. That's fine,
(19:20):
they're group of fact. They wish the media was focused
there on Ohio State. Is not happening. Yeah, when when
you have her, you know, Archie Man's grandson coming up
in the South. You know, all all his kids went
to school there in the South, Archie, so this kid
arch his dad supposedly was a better player than both
(19:40):
Hayden and in Eli. He just had an injury. And
so you know, with all this pressure, that's all the
media coverage there. This this is kind of like an
easy thing. They don't of Hallows State a favor in
this situation as far as the media pressure goes. But
I don't believe that Ohio State. It doesn't matter where
they play. Yeah, a big game, Yeah, I cannot play
(20:03):
the last time I watched the game Ohio when they
laid down, No.
Speaker 8 (20:08):
Never, I haven't seen that.
Speaker 11 (20:09):
Even when they lost that Oregon last year on the road,
they were about a second away from kicking a field
goal and that's an often stadium by a University of Oregon,
so their top team. We know that they have not
even the Big Ten champions, but they are the national champions.
That's how competitive the Big Ten is. A lot of
people looking at bench State as well as Oregon this year.
But when we go back to Texas, think about some
(20:30):
of the great players over the years. I look at
the best quarterback I ever saw play at Texas. Vince
Young set road gold records against Michigan and against USC Now.
Manning does not have his pettigree, doesn't have his running ability,
doesn't have his thorn ability, but he does have the
name Manning. When I look at top quarterbacks, Vis Young
winnip the in Ohiwase date and beat them when he
(20:51):
was a senior at Texas, I don't see the same
talent that Manning has the way Vis Young had as
a running pass. Austin set to roadbow records as total offense,
but he's getting more pressed than Bess Young had. Ask
your question as a as a little official, Timmy, if
Texas loses this game.
Speaker 8 (21:10):
Is it the coach's fault?
Speaker 11 (21:12):
I want they say this guy's a little bit overhyped
because of the name when it's Jersey, your thoughts.
Speaker 10 (21:18):
You know, Texas and doesn't get the blame. You know,
he's the only he can get the blame is if
he makes a bad decision in the Larne teen minutes
of the game. You know, if he pulls arch me
in the other game, in the in the second crip,
he made the curioticism. But the game is gonna be
determined by the by the players. Yes, the coach is
(21:38):
going to call their players. Okay, And one thing I
learned from my college coach, he obvious say it doesn't
matter what they do. It don't matter what you do.
What you do, So the matter players run, you still
gotta do what you're supposed to do. You still got
to execute. So if Ohio, say, comes out victorious, you
should go back to the drawing boy and looking for pimacy,
you know where the where the problems were. Yes, but
(21:59):
it's not gonna you know, you became the finger at
one person.
Speaker 6 (22:03):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (22:03):
You know, there's a whole lot of time. There's there's
sixteen minutes in the Gagos game, fifteen minute quarters. Yeah,
and then we thrown it and then we've been throwing
another quarter called time called t V time out.
Speaker 16 (22:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (22:14):
Yeah, it's a whole bunch of times every quarter. Yeah,
for you CEV timeouts, and so who's gonna get the
most rest? Yeah, this is gonna be kind of a
neat thing from Texas because they're going they ain't even
from the heat of Texas to go playing this cool
air in Ohio.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
You know.
Speaker 8 (22:33):
Yeah, you're saying it doesn't get cold in Texas.
Speaker 10 (22:36):
Toy it does, but it's also it's not very often.
Speaker 8 (22:42):
Yeah, no, not at all. Let me let me ask you.
Speaker 11 (22:46):
I saw I cover sports all over the country, high
school and also college and president. I saw a game
the high school it's called the Kickoff Classic down in Florida.
They had the nation number one Modern Day High School
out of Santa Ana, California. Down in Los Angeles.
Speaker 8 (23:01):
They took on the sixth time.
Speaker 11 (23:03):
Defending Florida state champions Saint Thomas Aquinas out of for
a lot of them now, and at halftime it was
twenty sixty three for the California team. In the second half,
Saint Thomas came back. They had one hundred and sixty
yards of penalties called against Modern Day, only twenty five
against the home team.
Speaker 8 (23:23):
Say toime as a quiet as now. Some people say
the officiating was so rapid. I know you didn't want
to hear that as an official team.
Speaker 11 (23:30):
Okay, but when one team has one hundred and sixty
yards at penalties and one half and the home team
has only twenty five, that smells like home cookid.
Speaker 8 (23:41):
Do we see anything like.
Speaker 11 (23:42):
That at Ohios? They are your thoughts on the high
school level, does that happen? Does that make any sense?
Speaker 8 (23:47):
Your thoughts? One safety to twenty five penalties? Your thoughts?
Speaker 10 (23:51):
You know, I talk about that one because if here's
the world thing, if you, if you, if you winning
by twenty three points, why are you so aggressive that
you have to have pilotis call against you? That's just
through and so chance is pretty good that that that
was not exactly what what they wanted it to be.
(24:13):
But there's I just can't. I just think I've never
seen that before in my life, where a team is
winning that bid and till they started coming without some
type of encouragement. It mights of the scene. And remember
the Titans when they when they're planning, they planning, okay,
(24:35):
and uh, you know, coach Boone was really upset about
what was going on with those filmies being called. Yeah,
and so the other coach steps so, hey, I know
what's going on here, we go call the game. And
that's what that seems like, you know, whenever you got
things being done intentionally, because I'm almost certain that the
officials that are officially that being in Florida and Port
(24:57):
Lauderdale did not travel from No.
Speaker 8 (25:01):
But they were homegoing. They were homegrown.
Speaker 10 (25:04):
But you I'm guarantee that in the Columbus Ohio right now, yeah,
we have a crew from the from the east offer
yeah there for the game to know.
Speaker 11 (25:14):
Yeah, that's all fair level where I'm talking to the
great tim I tell you, Timmy, when I when I
talk about college football, I love it.
Speaker 8 (25:20):
I love it so much.
Speaker 11 (25:21):
So when we look at the game Texas and Ohio State,
I think the team that scores the most.
Speaker 8 (25:27):
Points in the second half will win.
Speaker 11 (25:30):
And that's somebody's gonna have to throw the football because
defense is a pretty stack.
Speaker 8 (25:33):
That's my opinion.
Speaker 11 (25:35):
Before we get into the next game, I want to
talk to you about Notre Dame at Miami that, in
my opinion, for a hon State to win, they gat
to find the way to get the ball into their
passing game. You're gonna run the ball, of course, but
you got to throw the ball against this Texas team.
Just press that defense, your opinion and that what it
takes to win on your side, your thoughts.
Speaker 10 (25:53):
I believe that, you know, it's the defense that's what's
gonna take. Yeah, that's who that's that's where. That's where
it's gonna be one right there. It's gonna be run
in the trenches. Yes, because it's you're gonna be pretty
It's pretty comparable on both sides. Both teams have with defense, Yeah,
(26:15):
I think yeah, And so what is really gonna what's
gonna stay out the most okay in this situation, Well,
it's gonna be whoever makes the biggest place, who who
has the most negative yards?
Speaker 8 (26:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (26:26):
Okay, which defense has produced the most negative yards? And
that's where that's where I believe that the biggest takeaway
it's going to be right for an area.
Speaker 8 (26:34):
Yeah, it's gonna be a fantastic game.
Speaker 11 (26:36):
This is basically Sphere talking about the good boys kickoff
from the horseshoe. You know, I don't I don't think
take it on that take us long hards. I want
to take what's called the big s pauls off and
on as the big D time out want to come back.
I'm gonna ask Timmy about luserveame at Miami. I'll be
back at this a moment.
Speaker 10 (27:11):
When you're with ANX platinum, you can go the distance

the enter our happy place. As long as elephants still fly.
Speaker 8 (27:49):
Hey, the bubbles carcross the.
Speaker 9 (27:51):
Last, and the heroes are simple.
Speaker 6 (27:57):

Speaker 9 (28:01):

Speaker 13 (28:08):
That hugs warm our hearts so small, as long as

Speaker 2 (28:33):

Speaker 4 (28:39):

Speaker 9 (28:50):

Speaker 10 (29:21):

Speaker 8 (29:23):
The steal bank. Still doing my thanks to something that take.
Speaker 10 (29:28):
Too much change. And even when I was close to defeat,
I go see across the still get him still taking my.
Speaker 11 (29:48):
Shot alright, went back from the Big Sea Bos also
known of the Big Seas Out. You can follow the
VAC Sports twenty four hours a day, seven days a
week in thirty two podcasts platform Low Lah Blah, the.
Speaker 8 (30:07):
Black hole in the universe.
Speaker 11 (30:09):
I got a great day, flee stand up for the kickoff, Well, Timmy,
I know where they're kicking offs up in Ohio, Columbus
the Horseshoe University of Texas taking on the Ohio State
buff Guys.
Speaker 8 (30:20):
Depending on what oddspeak could you look at Ohio State's.
Speaker 11 (30:23):
Favorite by one to one and a half and some
other good boys to that Texas is favored by one
and one and a half, you're over on a forty
seven and a half. I want to take it to
another big game down in the state of Florida at
hart Rock Stadium, number six ran Notre Dame versus number
ten rank Miami. It's August thirty first at five to
(30:44):
thirty pm.
Speaker 8 (30:45):
Kickoff.
Speaker 11 (30:45):
Mountains dent a time in the Hurricanes in the Fighting
Average they face off in a big time game. It
used to be Lou Holtz and Jimmy Johnson and they
had something about Catholics versus Convicts.
Speaker 8 (30:57):
I thought that was beneath Notre Dame to do that,
but now you can sell it on the field.
Speaker 11 (31:01):
I believe it was nineteen ninety one where Notre Dame
beat the Hurricanes and they gave Miami the only lost.
At the end of the year, Notre Dame chose to
face an undefeated West Virginia at Major Harrison quarterback and
as the post had taken on Miami in Part two,
I still feel Miami was a better team and they
would have won Game two.
Speaker 8 (31:22):
But the Great lou Host said.
Speaker 18 (31:23):
No, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 8 (31:24):
He knows when to hold them, when to fold them,
when to walk away, and know when to run, and
he chose to beat West Virginia in a bowl game.
Now they have another rematch down in Miami.
Speaker 11 (31:33):
Give me your thoughts on Notre Dame, the runner up
to the Lasty's National championship to Ohio State.
Speaker 8 (31:39):
Your thoughts to me.
Speaker 10 (31:41):
You know, it's every four years, four to five years,
if Notre Dame is gonna end up in the DCS
playoff for the House about playoff and when I've never
really been a fan of the school, and especially with
this ticular thing going where whenever you win particilarly you
get older. They nobody.
Speaker 8 (32:04):
Now, you know they can't have money to God. Okay,
they get it all to God.
Speaker 10 (32:06):
To me your thoughts, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've never I've
never appreciated Notre Dame for that. I mean, you know,
they played, they playing the Big East and they play
in the Capitol Conference. But in football, that's the powerhouse,
(32:28):
that's the Golden You know, you can see the Golden
Dome when you fly over, said.
Speaker 8 (32:33):
The golden Did you say the Golden Goose or the
Golden Dome?
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Me?
Speaker 8 (32:36):
I didn't understand you.
Speaker 10 (32:41):
The Golden the Golden Goose on the Golden Dome. Yeah,
but you can see that from miles away. You know,
it's it's it's it's pretty cool looking. But I don't
what I don't like. I don't like the buying of
religion with college with college football. And that's what and
that's kind of what what that ring say. But when
you have two captain excols playing against each other, you
(33:02):
know why, why is one more deserving any other? So yeah,
it's like Notre Dame in Sandford. But on the field,
that's where the numbers are gonna be, That's where the
numbers are gonna be generated. Yeah, but I believe that,
you know, we're gonna see, we're gonnae this some high
pound offense.
Speaker 8 (33:17):
Is going on. Yeah, go ahead to then go ahead too,
you know.
Speaker 10 (33:22):
But yeah, no, like the Notre Dame. Is they coming
off that that defeat, you know the lads ball game, Yeah,
they're fired up, But how many people did they lose? Okay?
How many people are returning? If they have the same
continuities and they have the same leadership, that is what
counts is who is going to show up in the
leadership role on that field and so and we'll see,
you know, who decides to step up for that challenge.
(33:43):
But I believe that notibating, like you know, I'm a
I'm a road, I'm a road.
Speaker 11 (33:48):
I believe the team that's that that's soubing is gonna
win that pressure, right, Timmy your thoughts, that's right, and the.
Speaker 10 (33:56):
Pressures on that home taket.
Speaker 8 (33:57):
Yeah, Miami normally yeah, normally.
Speaker 11 (34:00):
I look at the Fighting Iris coming off an impressive
twenty twenty four They finished runner up to Ohio States
in the National Championship Game, winning three College Football playoff
games in the process, and although they lost key players
to the NFL Saches, quarterback Ryany Leonard. Notre Dame is
reloaded and looking to contend again in twenty twenty five.
And the thing that I want to talk about is
(34:22):
head coach Marcus Freeman, one of the best coaches in
all of football.
Speaker 8 (34:27):
He'll have his team ready to play early in his
road test. And then Notre Dame.
Speaker 11 (34:31):
They kick off last season with a big road win
against Texas A and M And now they go down
and take a Miami program at the hart Rock Stadium
and for Lauderdale, where they should be a tact house,
but Notre Dame because it's.
Speaker 8 (34:45):
Such a national draw.
Speaker 11 (34:47):
It's not like they're going to have the smallest crowd
base even if they get out drawn. And fan wise,
Notre Dame fans they do travel your.
Speaker 10 (34:53):
Thoughts, Yeah, they travel, but they also live there.
Speaker 8 (34:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (34:58):
Yeah, Yeah, you get a lot of you got a
lot of folks who just actually just gonna go Notre
Dame things that's going to just go, you know, down
the road to the stadium. Yeah, because there are many
people that are there so that their fans are all
over because again this is a this is a religious school. Yeah,
and so you know when you get finished that you
know you can run we're in the country. Yeah, you
(35:19):
you connected into the right network and so in which
Notre Dame does how that network? Yeah, and so you
know they're there's gonna be quite a few fans because
you Wantington House and routing mind you think. Yeah, and
those those are the folks that I love to listen to,
you know. Yeah, we were there just last last year
on our annual golf ship. In the golf ship. Yeah,
(35:39):
we went by the stadium on our way into Miami
to play to play one day and I just got
to look at that place. I'm like, you gotta drive
a long distance away to the stadium.
Speaker 11 (35:47):
Yeah, it's a long way to get to that stadium.
And the thing too that I look at this game
and obviously it's a national game. No one's pretending that
it's not a national game, but I do look at them.
We talk about how when Trophy Notre Dames loaded, they
have a running back that's Jeremiah Love.
Speaker 8 (36:05):
They say he's going to be the guy that they
got to get the ball with his hands.
Speaker 11 (36:08):
As a junior had eleven hundred and twenty five yards
and seventeen touchdown on the team that have also loaded However,
in Miami's.
Speaker 8 (36:15):
Favor, if history makes any difference, and it.
Speaker 11 (36:17):
Really doesn't, Notre Dame in their last six trips to Miami,
they are opened six and have lost by an average
of twenty eight points per game. Now, Notre Dame has
not beaten Miami in Miami since nineteen seventy seven. In
the last matchup coming in twenty seventeen, the number three
ranked Iris, they were beaten Miami by forty one to eight.
Speaker 8 (36:39):
Again, that's in the past.
Speaker 11 (36:42):
The past of that always ink of the future, and
I don't think these plaints events think that way. But
when I look at Freeman going in there as another
African American head coach for Notre Dame, you know they
also had Tyron Willingham back in the day. They've been
willing to give more coaches the color opportunity. And this
is a different Notre Dame team. This is not like
your Notre Dame team prior to free when they've been
(37:04):
going there and kind of fold. Give me your thoughts
of what it means if Miami goes in there and
get to win, they will snap a six game losing
to your.
Speaker 10 (37:11):
Thoughts, well, I said that it's expected it's expected for
the folks stemming on another day, they expect, they're expecting
to win. Okay, Coach Freman is not teaching, not coaching
these fellas to go in there and to lose by three,
to lose by field goals. He's coaching to go in
and to win a ball game. So with his focus
being owned to win on winning, I believe that they're
(37:34):
gonna They're gonna be They're gonna be ready again. This
is opening this is opening game. I just remember back
in the day when I was my freshman year at
Okama State. Yeah, we're open up against a small team
poll in North Texas State. Mean Green. One thing that
ever come over there, I guess it was the mean
Joe Green. Yeah, I think that's where he came from. Anybody,
(37:54):
if the mean Green and and and all of this
sight about what we're doing, we only came from with.
It wasn't the national pubage, but the way we focused
on the first game of this season. We focused on
that game started in spring mold in the early March, yes,
and all the way through.
Speaker 16 (38:12):
Now.
Speaker 10 (38:13):
We didn't just talk about that one game. We talk
with other games, and we put that heavy focus on
that one game, so another day was focused on this game.
They know what the record says, you know, you just
you don't talk about it. They haven't won in quite
a while over six. Yeah, they are aware of that. Yeah,
and they do not They need to get rid of
that blemish.
Speaker 12 (38:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (38:32):
And these guys weren't going at the time anyway when
they went wide. But I want to just cover this
before we close out on this game. Mario christ Ball,
in his fourth year with his alma mater, still looking
for a stigma to win. Despite coming off a successful
campaign in twenty twenty four, the Cams went ten to three,
recorded their first ten win season since twenty seventeen.
Speaker 8 (38:55):
Timmy and Chris of Ball still has more to prove
of the program now.
Speaker 11 (38:58):
Both teams are going to feature new quarterbacks, with Miami
starting Georgia translit cars In Beck and then Notre Dame
rolling with red shirt rest with CJ.
Speaker 8 (39:06):
Carr.
Speaker 11 (39:07):
Beck has more experience than car Di been seven twelve
yards and fifty eight tests down at Georgia, and car
saw limited playing time last season while sitting behind Leonard.
Experience at quarterbacks ship playing at pivotal role in this
early top ten matchup, but it's all new for these players.
They're tired of playing each other in spring games. They're
(39:27):
tired of playing the red team versus the black team
in practice. Now they get to fight somebody that's on
the other uniform. Emotion is such a big part of
college football. Is there any emotional edge when you're in
Miami that has perception of a more laid back campus.
Speaker 8 (39:44):
Your thoughts, I think, you.
Speaker 10 (39:47):
Know, I'll watched Michael Irvin getting fired, you know, in
a ball game. Yeah, early. And this is one thing
Jimmy Johnson talled us back.
Speaker 8 (39:54):
In the day.
Speaker 10 (39:54):
I don't remember a whole lot of he talked, but
I remember the sid if you never get to hash
out of his streets, Yeah, never get to go out
the feat and that and that injury energy level that
you come out to play with. You don't let all
that out in the in free in free game, you
don't express all your energy in the first foord. When
you do that, you take away what you what you
(40:14):
need in the fourth port. And so whoever comes out
with the most energy, okay, most positive energy, you know
that's gonna be good for them. But they don't need
to express too much emotion into what's going on, and
when you score, put the ball down the display, various sandwards,
put the ball down en zone to official, go to
the sideline. All the high five and three sixty turns
(40:36):
and backflips and all that stuff that that that doesn't
do anything but heres energy for for whoever's doing it.
And so hopefully Miami has learned a lesson through the
past and they want to come out with all of
that emotional celebration and so and I already know this, No,
they never have that concerned.
Speaker 8 (40:57):
So that's not what they do. Very bus like that.
I wish some nothing but the best.
Speaker 11 (41:01):
Both teams obviously should be great football. I want to
close out talking.
Speaker 8 (41:05):
To you, Timmy about a TV icon that will.
Speaker 11 (41:08):
Actually be at the Horseshoe in Ohio watching Ohio States
take on the good boys from Texas. The great Lee
Croso actually played football at Florida State back in the day,
and Bert Reynolds was his teammate, the late Burt Reynolds.
Lee Crosso has an emotional farewell to their plan for
college game day at Ohio States.
Speaker 8 (41:28):
Holds a special significance.
Speaker 11 (41:30):
He's the guy that has the personality always putting on
the mascot's helmet of what team he thinks is gonna win.
Speaker 8 (41:36):
Give me your thoughts about the great Lee Crosso been
doing his thing for a long long time.
Speaker 11 (41:41):
They were trying to kind of push him out of
the broadcast even the last year or two. But he's
been a lot to college football in a stateroom in
college football game.
Speaker 8 (41:49):
That your thoughts.
Speaker 10 (41:51):
Yeah, he's been He's been there for many, many years,
and you know that's becoming an out come is something
that you able to do as a director of sports,
so you can put food back there you want to
put out there. And so he was the man that
that that received this particular honor. Uh to do that,
He's he's been there. I've never agreed with him. I
(42:13):
shouldn't say never. I don't agree with him often. For
them to go ahead and recognize him, I think it's
a wonderful thing to do. You know, everyone needs their farewell.
You know, Jimi Johnson got he's farewell from from Fox.
You know, it doesn't there's a time and a place
for everything, and so you know, yeah, kudos to the
lead corsal. You know, hope wish him the best in
(42:36):
his men's endeavors.
Speaker 16 (42:38):
Up.
Speaker 10 (42:38):
He just you know, just chill out. You know he's
he's doing it because he enjoys. He enjoyed doing it.
You know, he was doing what he does. But you
know it's it's time to move. Move, move to show Wolds,
so to speak. They always think it's it's a great
gesture that they're doing for him. So he has he's
been I mean every sering. You know, we defend us
in his face. Yeah, Kirk ert Street. You know these
(43:00):
guys when they come h just last year. You know,
Kirk travels with his dog. Yeah, you know he has
he has chairman dog.
Speaker 8 (43:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (43:08):
And then McDonald said, a mid field with me before
ball games. I remember watching you know, uh he was
there with the Uh was the Tennessee Yeah, ou and
Tennessee last year yep. And then who came back with
the O U versus Alabama? Yeah, and then Tony Romo
was there. But you know, I unders said, we get
these folks who are pushed out in front of us,
(43:29):
no matter what we think about what their careers are doing.
Speaker 16 (43:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (43:32):
There they are the people that we listened to every
Saturday on game day. Game Bay start really even be
early for some people.
Speaker 11 (43:40):
Yeah, I want to before we close out together with
the Great League Crossover, the very best. I want to
just get your thoughts in the last in the last
two minutes. You're down there in Oklahoma, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
Speaker 8 (43:54):
They're not like.
Speaker 11 (43:56):
Texas and Alabama. But give me the filling for Oklahoma football.
Visit your and Oklahoma's date and allowed too many?
Speaker 8 (44:02):
Is your thoughts to me?
Speaker 10 (44:04):
Well, I saw Okaoma State player last night. They had
a pretty good sized crowd early, but the second half
that folks, who don't you know you can see all
the silver, all the silver seats, the aluminum in the stadium,
but you know they played us in all the school
University of Tennessee Martin.
Speaker 8 (44:20):
Yeah, and so.
Speaker 10 (44:22):
You know, there's a lot of controversy about Mike Dundy.
You know, I appreciate Mike Dundy as a human being.
You know, I don't know, I've watched him as a
coach where he leaves the guys. He does a good
job and a father figure. Yeah, but you know, the
intensity is not where it used to be with him.
Speaker 16 (44:40):
You know.
Speaker 10 (44:40):
You know, you get to be in the job for
so long you just get pretty relapsed. And yeah, he's
pretty much settled in, so uh, the intensity is not there.
So uh, you know, who knows what the fans, which
fans are gonna show up when you put the script
and go down the road in Norman, and I don't
care what you do. And you saw that because everyone's
ready to see the seniors come out. They're playing in
It's Illinois State tomorrow, five o'clock kick off, Central time,
(45:04):
and and it's ain't to be crazy. They're gonna go
wild and that's because that's what they do until the
team shows them that they're not really you know that good? Yeah,
but there, everyone's always shouted up there. There's always high expectations.
So we get this new kid from into town with
the offensive coordinator out of Washington State, so there's a
lot of hype around him, and folks want to see
(45:27):
what he can do. And I guarantee his first his
first run that makes the first down. Oh yeah, they're
gonna be very related. I don't get a chance. I
don't get a chance to hear all of that because
I'm wearing a head handset and I'm communicating listening to
the guy upstairs, the recent official. But every now and
then I'm gonna peak and I'll just open the up
just to listen to the crowd. The crowd is that's
(45:49):
what very fanatic, Yes, very fanatic.
Speaker 8 (45:51):
That's what it's all about. Tell us about the Cord Boys.
Speaker 11 (45:53):
The bands plan also U c l A taking on
Utah and by youth playing Portland State.
Speaker 8 (45:59):
That's all we have for you right now.
Speaker 11 (46:00):
But what will they have at halftime when they have
the Big Sea Burger or some ribs up in Ohio
when Texas come to town with all that barbecue ribbles,
what would they put on the ribs?
Speaker 10 (46:10):
Tim of your dugs man, I said, they need a person.
It's it's some Kenyans, real class and needing. That's what
they need to put on that.
Speaker 8 (46:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (46:17):
And then yes, yes, and he goes good on anything. Yeah,
and it goes in first, it goes the best on
your fingertip.
Speaker 11 (46:24):
Yeah, well you don't need a napkin. Well, Timmy, I'll
let you run. I'm gonna say thank you for bed
on Big S Sports. I can't wait to see some
college football this weekend. After he's stand it for the kickoff,
I think let's call the Big Sea Ball and I'll
be back and just a moment, Timmy, thank you, sir,
having a super factactic days.
Speaker 10 (46:43):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 8 (46:44):
You do the same.
Speaker 10 (46:51):
Hurry up, Come on, I'm a baseball dad. Just because
I didn't go pro, it doesn't mean my kid won't
that no pressure kid, just everyone watching coach. It doesn't
matter if you win or lose the game. But that's
what the losers say.
Speaker 19 (47:03):
Yes with those hips right, and you gotta swing. And
if you don't have the right assurance, you can be
paid for this yourself, so you can all stay and
save money.
Speaker 10 (47:17):
And people take it.
Speaker 7 (47:17):
From Mayhem Like me in life, it's best to check
before you commit to something. You might end up in
a pickle. With quick checks, you can check if you're
eligible for a Capital one credit card without affecting your
credit score. That's what anyway, and you'll always know the
(47:51):
APR you'll get before aplying credit As you surprises.
Speaker 11 (48:05):
The mouth watering Big Mac with a savory filio fish
and a tasty my chicken.
Speaker 13 (48:11):
My goodness, that looks good.
Speaker 8 (48:14):
Oh you're making McDonald's menu.
Speaker 3 (48:17):
Have yes a land air at sea?
Speaker 6 (48:21):
Oh, tip over, you know it gets good, very stable.
Speaker 11 (48:25):
Order the lamb there and see by name, build it
by hand and hat to the McDonald's menu.
Speaker 9 (48:30):
I'm surprised at how attracted I am to an man.
Speaker 10 (48:36):
Hello, can you play in the NFL?
Speaker 16 (48:38):
No?
Speaker 10 (48:38):
But with the Old Spice NFL collection, can you smell
like you play in the NFL? Yes, I'm the coach.
Speaker 11 (48:43):
Now Old Spice makes you smell powerful enough to throw
a touchdown around the planet and back to yourself.
Speaker 16 (48:49):
Except now the ball is signed by you, and it's
worth of a jillion dollars.
Speaker 8 (48:53):
I'm out. Listen. Is that the smell of other men
wearing your name.
Speaker 10 (48:56):
On their backs?
Speaker 16 (48:57):
Get on?
Speaker 10 (48:58):
Yes, touched out? That was my look. A football.
Speaker 6 (49:07):
Reparations has been here and have been working on for generations.
From the very beginning, people were knocking on the door saying,
we are old for our labor.
Speaker 10 (49:18):
Callie House she was born a slave.
Speaker 18 (49:21):
She went out all around the community to other black
people that they ought to ask the government to get
somebody because they were pulled and they were desperate. By
the nineteen hundred, she had three hundred thousand dues paying members.
Speaker 10 (49:36):
It was the largest organization of black folk that had existed.
Speaker 18 (49:42):
Pretty soon, her activities came to the attention of the
government and they convicted her a fraud. The federal charge
was that at a time when you should have known
that the federal government would have never give negroes anything.
While we telling negroes they should organize to try to
get something, they sent her to prison to serve a
(50:07):
one year term. She got out of prison, she went
back to Nashville to this shotgun house.
Speaker 10 (50:13):
She got ut ay cancer, and she died.
Speaker 18 (50:19):
You can draw a direct line from Kelly House to
the reparations movement today.
Speaker 11 (50:34):
Leaves on the.
Speaker 8 (50:35):
Mission ship by.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
Black leaves in the mission ship befire.
Speaker 8 (50:53):
At the very same.
Speaker 16 (50:54):
Time that America refused to give the negro in a
land of Congress, our government was giving away millions of
acres of land in the West and the Midwest.
Speaker 2 (51:08):
Lord.
Speaker 8 (51:08):
But not only did they give the land, they built
land grant colleges. The government money to teach them how
to farm.
Speaker 10 (51:18):
Not only that they.
Speaker 16 (51:19):
Provided county agents to further our expertise and farming.
Speaker 8 (51:24):
Not only that they provided low.
Speaker 16 (51:27):
Interest rates in order that they could mechanize that farm.
Speaker 10 (51:31):
Not only that, but.
Speaker 16 (51:33):
They many of these people are receiving millions of dollars
in federal subsidies, not the farm.
Speaker 8 (51:39):
And they are the very people telling the black man
that we ort.
Speaker 10 (51:42):
To lift himself by his own bootstraps.
Speaker 16 (51:46):
This is what we're faced with and this is a
reality now when we come to Washington.
Speaker 8 (51:53):
In this campaign, we are coming to get our check.
Speaker 11 (52:02):
All right, back from the Big Sea Paul also known
as the Big Seed tip out, we can follow up
the Big Seed Sports twenty four hours a day, seven
days a week, or thirty two podcast platforms all the
black hole, the univers I want to say, what a
great day talkeeting college football. At the same time, I'm
not someone that's a sick offence of us going on
as a siding as we are planning, stand up with
(52:24):
a kickoff, pay attention.
Speaker 8 (52:26):
To what's going on and Gord Deck.
Speaker 6 (52:27):
Of the Witch joining us now.
Speaker 20 (52:28):
Former acting Vice Chief of the National Guard Bureau, Major
General Randy manor Major General, thank you so much for
being with us. And at the moment, it's still unclear
whether the National Guard will be used in this immigration
operation in Chicago, But from your experience, would it make
sense for the Trump administration to send the National Guard
in to assist with an immigration crackdown or to even
(52:49):
quell protests that might result.
Speaker 21 (52:52):
The National Guard is not there to be political pawns
the way that they were in the District of Columbia.
This is not alitary operation at most, this is a
law enforcement operation. The President insists on using our National
guardsmen armed with heavily armed vehicles as photo ops in
the district. It's not appropriate for this mission.
Speaker 6 (53:13):
It should absolutely not be used, and we should not
have the young men and women doing this. The National
Guard Bureau right now is trying to resource what.
Speaker 21 (53:23):
The requirements might be for something for Chicago for next week,
so they're scrambling. It's not as you can imagine. Decisions
apparently have not yet been made, but it takes a
lot of planning before those decisions are made. And that's
what's gone going right now.
Speaker 20 (53:39):
I want to play some comments from President Trump's borders
are Tom Holman this morning about the pushback against these
immigration crackdowns.
Speaker 6 (53:46):
Let's listen to that.
Speaker 10 (53:49):
So when you get pushed back as you head into
Chicago from people like Mayor Johnson, what's your message to
the mayor?
Speaker 6 (53:58):
All the way are going to do it? If he's
not going to do it, President Trump's going to do it.
I would think he'd be shoulder to shoulder with us,
But it's disgusting.
Speaker 16 (54:06):
That he's not.
Speaker 6 (54:07):
But we're going to be there anyway, So if you
don't want to help, get out of the way, we'll
do it. So first, sir, your reaction to that, that
sounds like a dictator right there.
Speaker 21 (54:17):
That sounds like someone is imposing the will of a
dictator on the duly elected individuals from a state.
Speaker 6 (54:23):
This is all about states' rights, and he is trampling them.
Speaker 21 (54:26):
It should be just a total affront to every American,
whether you are in Illinois or you are in Texas.
The idea that the president is ignoring the wishes of
a governor to achieve his own personal objectives is appalling.
Speaker 20 (54:40):
So is it within the purview of the National Guard
to be deployed to the streets of our cities in
order to assist in these kind of operations? And what
kind of training do they receive? I know you alluded
to it, but what kind of training do these National
guardsmen and women received that may make them equipped to
deal with this particularular scenario.
Speaker 21 (55:02):
In our history, there have been only a small number
of situations where the president has moved a National Guard
into an area against the will of the governor. And
we know that whether that was in Alabama or Mississippi
back in the sixties, it's a very small number of
these situations.
Speaker 6 (55:22):
It is a backup. It is rarely invoked.
Speaker 21 (55:24):
Remember that the National Guard is the strategic reserve of
the United States to be able to defend our country overseas,
and it's an asset that is available to the governor
in the case of disaster recovery, whether that means forest fires, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes,
and then of course in a very distant last place,
(55:46):
would need to back up law enforcement officers and being
able to carry out what they are doing.
Speaker 6 (55:52):
The President is.
Speaker 21 (55:53):
Breaking not only not within the guard rails, but previous administrations.
He is crushing and destroying the guard rails of the
proper use of our military.
Speaker 6 (56:03):
It is not appropriate that are.
Speaker 21 (56:05):
Young men and women we've put into American cities to
basically to be occupying them and to.
Speaker 6 (56:11):
Be intimidating the local population. They are not trained for it.
Speaker 21 (56:14):
Whereas, whereas law enforcement officers received four to six months
of training to be a qualified officer, our young men
and women received single digit hours, maybe ten hours, twenty
hours the very very most literally before they go into
the situation.
Speaker 6 (56:31):
They are not qualified to do this mission. They are
excellent at fighting the enemy and destroying the enemy.
Speaker 21 (56:38):
Last time I checked, we don't have the enemy in
the streets of Washington, Chicago, or Los Angeles, or for
that matter, in any city, whether it's red or blue.
Speaker 6 (56:47):
There are no enemies within.
Speaker 21 (56:49):
We've got to stop the use of the military in
the way that the administration is presently doing it.
Speaker 10 (56:56):
Welcome to the News Hour.
Speaker 6 (56:58):
A dramatic move by President Trump tonight.
Speaker 22 (57:01):
He's trying to single handedly block nearly five billion dollars
in foreign aid already approved by Congress, and he's doing
it by invoking a little known power play called a
pocket recision, effectively cutting lawmakers out of the process.
Speaker 23 (57:15):
That is, when a president asks Congress to cancel funds
so close to the end of the fiscal year that
Congress can't act on the request and the funds expire.
In this instance, three point two billion dollars will be
cut from development assistance, along with eight hundred and thirty
eight million dollars from peacekeeping efforts, five hundred and twenty
million dollars in contributions to the UN, and three hundred
(57:38):
and twenty two million dollars from the state Department's Democracy Fund.
The Republican chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Susan Collins,
publicly criticized their request, writing in a statement that quote,
any effort to rescind appropriated funds without congressional approval is
a clear violation of the law. Missouri's Republican governor is
(57:58):
calling lawmakers into a special session to redraw the state's
congressional maps. Mike keyhose announcement is just the latest move
in a nationwide battle over redistricting ahead of next year's
midterm elections. Just hours earlier, in Texas.
Speaker 6 (58:14):
I'm about to sign the law that created a one big,
Beautiful map.
Speaker 23 (58:18):
Governor Greg Abbott signed into law a new voting map
designed to help Republicans gain five more seats in next
year's midterms. An emergency hearing about President Trump's firing of
Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook concluded today with no immediate
ruling from the district judge. Cook's attorney left the courthouse
in Washington, d C. After more than two hours of arguments.
(58:41):
He urged the judge to allow Coke to stay on
the FED Board, underscoring that Trump could soon begin the
process of filling her seat. The President fired Cook on Monday,
citing allegations of mortgage fraud. It's a significant escalation in
Trump's battle with the politically independent Central Bank.
Speaker 6 (58:58):
The judge requested more written our dguments from both sides
by next week.
Speaker 23 (59:03):
Iowa Senator Jony Ernst reportedly will not seek re election
next year. That's according to multiple media outlets and first
reported by CBS News. The Republican is expected to announce
her plans not to seek a third term next month.
We have had very frank conversations that correct mister Hegsell
(59:24):
and Iraq veteran. Ernst played a vital role in confirming
Pete Hegsett as Defense Secretary earlier this year, despite his
past comments about banning women from combat roles. Ernst joins
a growing list of Republican lawmakers choosing not to run.
That's given Democrats new hopes of picking up seats in
next year's midterm elections. President Trump has revoked the Secret
(59:46):
Service detail for his twenty twenty four opponent, former Vice
President Kamala Harris. For protection officially ends on Monday. Vice
presidents typically get six months of federal protection after leaving office,
The former President Biden reportedly extended Harris's through next July.
Mister Trump had already cut off protections for other Biden
officials and family members, plus perceived enemies from his own
(01:00:10):
ranks that includes former Trump National security advisor John Bolton,
among others. In Minnesota, local media is reporting that Governor
Tim Walls is floating the idea of an emergency legislative
session following this week's Catholic school shooting that left two
students dead. In a social media post, Walls wrote, quote,
it's time to take serious action at the state capitol
(01:00:32):
to address gun violence, but he provided few details. In
the meantime, the second victim of Wednesday's shooting has been
identified as ten year old Harper Moyski. She died along
with eight year old schoolmate Fletcher Merkle. Harper Moyski's family,
in a statement, demanded that leaders address gun violence and
the mental health crisis in the country, saying quote, no
(01:00:54):
family should ever have to endure this kind of pain.
Change is possible, and it is necessary.
Speaker 24 (01:01:00):
Trump's administration has told Congress the plans to cancel previously
approved funding for four and Aid. In a letter to
House Speaker Mike Johnson. Posted online by the White House
Office of Management and Budget, the President said he was
proposing cuts totally nearly five billion dollars and that cook's
funding for the State Department as well as the US
(01:01:20):
Agency for International Development, or USAID. Back in February, the
Trump administration announced plans to dismantle USAID as well as
its overseas operations, with its remaining programs placed under control
of the State Department, and in July, the House and
Senate approved an additional nine billion dollars in cuts to
(01:01:41):
the agency. For more on this, let's bring in CDs
News Congressional correspondent Nicole Killian and Nicole, thanks for joining
us tonight. This nearly five billion dollars in foreign aid
funding and had already been previously approved by Congress. So
how is the president able to block this additional funding
for USAID.
Speaker 17 (01:02:00):
Well, we can't say it's a done deal just yet
because there are a lot of lawmakers who are pushing
back against this from both parties, most notably with respect
to the Appropriations Committee, which controls you know, a lot
of the funding here on Capitol Hill and how it's allocated.
Speaker 8 (01:02:16):
Drafts a lot of.
Speaker 10 (01:02:17):
The appropriations bills.
Speaker 17 (01:02:18):
Of course, it ultimately fund government, and so we did
hear a pretty strong statement earlier today from the Senate
Appropriations Committee Cheer Susan Collins, a Republican from Maine, who
basically said more or less that this is an attempt
to rescind a congressionally appropriated fund, going on to suggest
that that was unlawful. That is also the same language
(01:02:39):
that we are hearing from Democrats like Chuck Schumer, who
also called this unlawful, as did Jean Shaheen, who oversees
the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, who called this dangerous.
Speaker 8 (01:02:50):
So our look, this is.
Speaker 25 (01:03:05):
For Friday nights. It's a Saturday nights the Chapel Hill
to a passive dinner, the crackers.
Speaker 4 (01:03:18):
Down with spies, tradition, attention.
Speaker 6 (01:03:25):

Speaker 25 (01:03:48):
And a nice place where the crown ship doesn't or
