Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the show.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Today we are joined by CEO and founder of Simplified COO,
Kevin Willer. He is not only a business coach, but
he is an experienced author and hopefully one day we
will get a chance to see more of him on television,
as he has a few television appearances.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
I'm coming up in.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
A few weeks, but you guys join me and welcoming
Kevin Willer to the show.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Kevin, Welcome, Thank you, Thank you, jose It's great to
be here. Appreciate you well.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
We're so happy to have you on today's segment. And
I know that before the show start out we were
talking a little bit about just kind of the state
of businesses today. I know our audience out there, those
who are listening on the podcast, we know that the
state of business just globally, no matter what really billed
you happen to be in people find themselves in this
mindset where they are struggling to get ahead, whether it

(00:56):
be get ahead of the competition, maybe just get ahead
of their own scaledles. I think the trend that we've
been seeing in twenty twenty four is is businesses endeavoring
to push ahead despite so many insurmountable, seemingly.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Obstacles that they're facing.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
And the problem I'm noticing, Kevin, and maybe you can
jump in here and and interject, it's, you know, is
I see a lot of people right now are in
this survival mindset, you know. There it's like they're they're
trying to stay afloat with the competition. They're trying to compete,
They're trying to survive with just how you know, price

(01:36):
inflation and with everything going on in the world, and
I think their business minds are are stifled in this
at this point for a lot of them.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Does that make sense?

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yeah, you know, it gets into kind of fight or
flight mode right when we get into that stata what's next?
And you know, we have an election year, so many
things going on globally that can distract consumers, can distract employees,
distracts us as business owners, and.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
So we're launching forward, going what next? What next? What next?

Speaker 3 (02:13):
What I would like to stress to the business leaders
out there is this is actually the time to be
more intuitive. We live in a really fast paced society.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
But if we try to.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Go out as you know, in track and field they
call it the rabbit and just completely run until we
can't run anymore. We physically don't feel good, We mentally
can't offer what we need to to our family, friends
and to the business.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
That we came to love so much.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
So I say, actually uniquely, that you take a step back.
It's almost as if you're swimming right. You're exhausted, you're
not sure you can make it to sure. What I
would tell to someone is turn around and load on
your back for a minute and think about what your
next move is, and you're gonna be okay. As you

(03:06):
sit there and float, you're gonna come up with your plum.
So we call that, you know, in my circles, going
back to the basics, there was something there that was
working really well that only hit a point of stagnation
or decline because of us not adapting to the outside

(03:28):
influences and not staying true to what our core values work.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
We just start to run or swim right.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Absolutely no, that's that's a that's fantastic advice. And so
as people take that advice, let's say they say, they say, okay,
let me let me, let me take a break, let
me take a let me pause for a second, and
let me think about my next moves. Let me go
back to this, this this basis as you say, so,
I think that's really calming effect because I think, like

(04:02):
you mentioned, people are in this fight or flight, so
they're either going to fight to stay afloat, or they're
going to run and hide and say hey, forget it.
You know, they're going to throw in the town. I
think what you mentioned too, with this taking a step
back and taking a little of a break, it does
give people an opportunity to to more reflect what's the

(04:24):
word where, you know, because when you start getting frustrated
so much, you start to get desperate. So I think
taking that break allows them to kind of think more
realistically about the situation and the problem and then properly
execute an action plan to move forward.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
So that makes it makes perfect sense. Cavin.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Now, I know that in your experience, you work with
a lot of businesses, a lot of business owners who
needed to do just that. And what were some of
the results that people experienced when they did that.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Well, you know, it's never a waste of time to
go back and say, look, whether I wrote it down,
I always recommend writing it down.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
But whether I wrote it down or.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Not, I had a vision I had a mission statement,
I had core values that I wanted to build my
business on. That's where it's a pause to let me
go back and go do I still have the same
core values?

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Do they apply to what I want to be?

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Have I taken myself or my team away from the
core values and they're off now in the weeds, and
so you know, not to spend it spends how much
time people sometimes go but going.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Backwards, no, you're not.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
You're building your foundation or you're rebuilding your foundation. So
I've had great success in going back into the core
values and.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Seeing where they align. You know, are are we living them?
And then maybe they need to change. Maybe they were
Yeah that made perfect sense nine years ago, but it
doesn't today.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
And so they are coming out of what I would
call a strategic planning meeting with either re information that
these are the core values or here are the core values,
and then rolling that out to.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Your team excellent, excellent suggestions, excellent suggestions. And you know
that that moment of self reflection and and really personal reflection,
I think is a great tool for professional development, not
just for your team, but more for you as an individual.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Who's who's who?

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Put in the works for so many years and now
may find yourself at this particular crossword roads that you're
now facing. And I think it's absolutely wonderful Kevin, that
that people out there, businesses out there, I have professionals
like you who strategically have guided them through life's challenges
and storms and helping them to come out on the

(06:55):
other side on top. I think that's the power of
a business coach is as an individual that can come
in help us to execute a well defined plan, self
reflect and then move forward. And you've done that time
and time again for so many individuals, and you've taken
the time now to help us to do that exact
same thing. So, Kevin, before we let you go, I

(07:16):
do want I do want people to know how to
get in contact with you if they personally need some
professional help and support taking them taking their business to
that next level.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Yeah, well you can reach me, you know on the
various social media outlets. I'm on LinkedIn, you know, Instagram, Facebook.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
My website is a great opportunity.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
It's Kevin Wheeler dot org and I look forward to
anyone reaching me out.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
I have many different types of businesses reach out from.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
That you can track down my phone number and I'll
actually pick up my phone if you want to call,
so you know I'm here to keep people centered during
these challenging times through that is amazing opportunities.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Absolutely, And I love the fact that your website is
Kevin Willer dot org because I really and maybe a
lot of people don't know this about you, but you're
someone who's who gives a lot back to the community
with your own personal projects. And I know that you
have a project coming up in September for the Fallen

(08:24):
Firefighters Foundation and even in connection with the Phoenix Children's Hospital.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
What are you doing there? Yeah, so I've been in
a few different stair climbs.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
It's been a while now, so you don't have to
try to get back in shape and get up there,
get up those stairs. But it is to to recognize
the victims that are still out there trying to survive
through all these years, especially when it comes to mental
state of the tragic nine to eleven event with the

(08:57):
Twin Towers where several gentlemen and women lost their lives
racing up to help others.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
And so that is something near and dear to my heart.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
With that in my background, I also have some great
connections with the children's hospital, and so I'm really looking
to help both organizations maximize me trying to get my
butt up one hundred and ten flights of stairs to

(09:28):
recognizing people that definitely need to be recognized.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Well, well, thank you so much Kevin for doing that.
You know, it's it's yeah, I think I think all
of us can remember where we were on the day
of nine to eleven and remembering the firefighters and all
the first responders. It really it does make you emotional,
at least it, you know, it makes me very emotional
when you think about just what everybody went through on

(09:54):
that particular day. And I really think that what you're
doing by taking the time to do this climb on
behalf of the fire fighters and children in the hospitals,
it speaks to your character and it's it's truly special.
So I want to I just want to again thank
you for taking the time to be on today's episode
and for doing so many wonderful things for other individuals
and organizations outside of just yourself.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
