On the 4th of october 1875 , in Pembroke new Hampshire 17 year old Josie langmaid, a girl described to be well liked, pretty and ,intelligent was preparing for her walk to school, from her family farm where she lived with her mother father and younger brother.

Josie would normally walk to schoolwith her brother Waldo , but he had already left and gone on ahead of josie .

This was because josie was actually planning to meet her friend , on the way to school and they would walk the remaineder of the way together

Josie set off for school that morning a little late at around 8.30 and 845 , and alone. Josie made her way to school ,a two and a half mile walk via the dirt paths of the woods that stood between her home and her school.

But josie wouldn't make it school on that fateful day
