Speaker 1 (00:04):
It's me James Lodd Junior again at the couch, the
famous couch behind me, and I just finished watching Fridays
and Today Mondays, the summer twenty nine episodes of The
Bold and the Beautiful, and I have to say it

(00:26):
was kind of exciting. I am curious to what they
ended it in a really good cliffhanger. So spoilers. If
you had to watch, spoilers, sporter, spoiler go away, watch
us afterwards. But if you have watched, let's talk about it.
So Katie started her own fashion house or whatever was it.
I didn't care so much and that, but then I

(00:47):
was like, okay, we're harkening back to the days of
rival fashion house. I want more fashion on Bond and Beautiful.
That's what the show's all about, so I want more
of that. So I'm like, what are we gets us there?
I'll take her, and it's exciting possibilities, like maybe Eric
goes to work for them, maybe Deeke is there. There's

(01:14):
some exciting possibilities, right. But the one thing that came
up that I did not even think of the name,
I guess I think I just assumed it'd be Spencer
Designs or Spencer fashion. I didn't even I figured since
she married, since Katie married Dollar Bill, it would be

(01:40):
a Spencer something because it's also Spencer Publication, Spencer industry.
I'll be that did not see any of this coming
where she says she her name of Logan. I have
to give Katherine Kelly Lang some credit because as Broke
Homegirl was like, what bitch, excuse me? Her face was like, well,

(02:02):
and it's a cute logo, which I used the thumbnail.
Just use a thumbnail for this episode. I like it, Logan,
just by myself Logan. What it did is it opened
up a part of storyline that I just didn't even
think about. And it's kind of exciting to me as
a person who has his own companies and who should
always creates shows and things and we and we always

(02:23):
have to think about what we name something. We have
to go search it and see if it's already named
already and if it's trading. We had a situation one
show a few years ago, and we figured it out
and I learned also a trademarks a little side note,
you have to make sure it's all coporate or trademarked

(02:45):
under the type of media or whatever. A business you're
going to use it for someone else can have the
same name. I mean you could, you could argue they
shouldn't and all that stuff, but you can have the
same name if it's a difference listed differently under a
different type of meat or something. So we kind of
came across that maybe that's all I'm gonna I'm gona
tell you, that's all the story today's episode where they're like,

(03:10):
Carter is at one computer, leg was at another. Because
the trademark of Logan Designs and Logan was up for grabs.
They both pressed that button what do we have it?
Do we have it? And it went to black. I
was like, Oh, I'm actually literally I caach tomorrow. I
cannot waiting tomorrow's episode or which this airs will be
today Today's episode to see what happened. I'm actually excited

(03:36):
like this part. And so let's break it down for
a second. Rich Colsbrook Logan always has but you've always
been known as the Logan Sisters, the Logan Girls, the Logans.
It's always the forces versus the Logans. So the name

(04:00):
is synonymous with Katie, Donna and Brooke and by extension,
Hope bridget Flow. There was a few the other other
logan and some of the guys, but the girls logan
has always been that I weirdly enough, I would split

(04:24):
down the middle. At first, I was like, it was
ridging and Brooke just like bulldozing Katie, I thought first,
But then I was like, no, actually, I kind of
get what Brooke is saying. In the fashion business, she

(04:49):
is known as Brook logan and the person did I
get what Katie? They were kind of saying, But nobody
everything is under Forster Creations. You named it. It was belief,
you named it Brook's bedroom. Hopefully you're not or there's
there's no logan kind of out there for Forrester. It's like,

(05:09):
get what she's saying, and it's just it's confusing. So
I'm like, but then I get brook cycle. But it's
my identity, and I guess, you know. On Young and
the rest recently had a whole thing with Abbot Communications
and Jack being against it, but Billy is Billy Abbot,

(05:30):
but he but Jack was like, but then we have
Jabbo just known as run by the Abbots and they're
highly respected. So it's this whole notion of will discet
be connected to the larger piece and take that down.
So I kind of I kind of give them on

(05:50):
the side, but but everybody figures the rights unless you
totally trade mark the name. Everybody has rights you used
that if that's their last name and logan some like
if someone do a Lot Industries, Okay, you know I'm
James Lott Junior, probably one of the more famous famous
the lots out there. There's Ronnie Lott and myself, my

(06:11):
cousin Nick Lott. And there's some lots who aren't lots
that they're o the last names a few, but the
lot name. Like what if I if I cousins sell
named mine lot media, I may not like it but
a little bit, but like, but I'm think but it's

(06:32):
because they're thinking lot media and people who know me,
we go it was to James's. But there are a
lot there. They're able to say that I have cousins
and sis siblings who on Instagram we have I blog
a lot, She's a lot, got a lot. I mean,
it's like kind of cute. The lot name is a
lot name. But how would I feel about that? And

(06:53):
like they said, is they're gonna do j l psych
Sometimes I have a friend who did something recently where
their company is initials like mine, and I kind of
made a joke about that. I said, not interesting, sounds
like the media and we're not even related he or anything.

(07:14):
But I'm just like, we're friends. But I'm just like
m M, so I just I just really want people
to I guess know that I am this and then
you see, you know, my company is run by me
and it's me, and I guess my siblings and relatives

(07:37):
that's theirs. Unless we collaborate, it's not my business, it's theirs.
So Brooke in and the case is very interesting. I
didn't even think about this. I'm didn't even see the
story coming. It's part of storycoming because it's layered and
so may different things. And the way we're just like,
don't worry. They won't even have a debt on us

(07:58):
because they're just starting. And I get what they're saying.
So I got fashion houses a big deal, but this
is soap opera, so of course think I'm like a
debt quick in real life we know it takes forever.
But I've been enjoying. I really enjoyed this part of
the story. I'm like, okay, so let's see what happens.

(08:19):
This is bone beautiful. Rewind here on jailj Media. We're
mostly audio, but first I do a video occasionally. Bones
from the Spotlight will return in January. We have a
date yet for its tenth season. We will return, but
right now we're on hiatus. But you can find us
where we find podcast and on YouTube at jailj Media.

(08:40):
Stay with this show and thank you so much. Happy
New Year.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
