Speaker 1 (00:02):
Okay, I'm gonna be them.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
I'm gonna be the voice, gonna be the voice that
says something different than the normal the way we also saying.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Hi, I'm James Lott Junior.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
This is bone before we wind our show on JILJ
Media where I rewind something or some storyline or a
person from the show and we talk about it. This
rewind is the Ridge Carter relationship and how this past
(00:35):
Monday's scene. How what I was just saying this Monday's episode?
Speaker 1 (00:43):
How do I feel about it? Meaning?
Speaker 2 (00:46):
The episode aired on President Day twenty twenty five, and
the scenes between Carter and Ridge. Episode was co written
by Lawrence Saint Victor, who plays Carter, directed by Heather
Tom he plays Katie.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
You guys might try to make sure I mentioned that.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
I have a problem with how Carter's being portrayed.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
It's left a bad taste in my mouth.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
And that's one thing now, as you know, several things
can be true.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
The other thing.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Other side of it. I actually want to praise Lawrence
for showcasing his talents through this storyline. I know you
play they Okay, I'm confused James doesn't like the storyline
or Hew It's being treated. But so this storyline to
(02:01):
me is preposterous and sha, it could have done better.
Coup takeover a whole thing, whatever, But it's given Lauren
Saint Victor the front burner status that I feel he deserves.
He's put in the time as an actor on the show.
(02:22):
Now he's writing and acting on the show, which is great.
He's been around, he is a leading man type.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
He is he is and in.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Real life just one of the nicest guys in their business.
He knows this and if he listens to this, Hi, Lawrence,
you know I'm a huge fan.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
I love you. So all of that is true.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
The fact that decided to give him a major storyline
put him with one of the major actresses in the show,
and I couldn't know well who I love che as
my girl with some love Monika of cameraon as my girl,
putting them together, and it's kind of daring storyline.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
When I first started out was all for it.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
So rewind to the beginning of it, of them thinking
about it, and these are two basically good people who
are caught up in ego and feelings. I mean all
that I love, Oh my god, I'm like, okay, I
get it. There's a new Hope in town, a new
Carter in town. They're trying to you know, they have ideas.
They feel dismissed. Bush Aside, Carter feels Noble's talking about
(03:37):
the logan girls.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
All that.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
I'm like, okay, I'm for it. I am in like Flynn,
I'm in the problem I have maybe because I'm a
fellow black man, and maybe they'll show it. Maybe they
will show it at some point.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
They're playing Carter as this pussy whipped I can't think
for himself, infant, instead of someone who.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Is smart.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
He's a lawyer, he's smart, he knows the business that
he's saying, his family, he has a mind of his own.
It's not about his Hope chick. They're not playing it
that way, and that part, to me bugs the shit
out of me. I don't.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Like that.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Now, let's flip it. It's the flip side of that.
I know I'm going back and forth, but here's the
flip side of that. I always advocate. Maybe you guys
know this, for black actors, I'm stopposed to be able
to play whatever or a character, whatever emotion. They should
be able to be as well rounded as the white actors.
And I still stand by that, and I agree with
(05:09):
that and all that, and I'm always asking for a
diversity of story on screen.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
So I stand by that.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Also, I don't follow keep following what they stand by.
That also, however, common when you have very little, sometimes
it can trigger an audience that's looking to see themselves
(05:41):
represented and they think it's being represented in a way
that's demeaning or less than or inauthentic because there's option right,
the optics may not look it's like, well, that does
(06:03):
not a good lord. If it was a white character,
because there's so many of them on the subs that
have to get a chance to play everything, I may
still feel the same way, but I may not.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
So I'm torn.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Because he is getting praised for some of the by
some for saying it's the best work of his career,
because because I can see it, he's acting his ass off,
he's tried, he's doing it, and the sea with Ridge,
I'm talking about you or my brother. You are trade me.
You know, you know I'm right. You know they hug
(06:45):
at the end, and Hope walks in it. Just it's yes,
it's soapy goodness for some but I'm just like, yes,
there was a friendship, and I'm all for romances and
all that.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
I'm all by too, But I feel like.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Carter's being sacrificed, his cars being sacrificed. Then he turn
gets so then I gets hopefully sacrificed sacrifice.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
It doesn't feel good to me.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
I want to praise Victors Lawrence for just this incredible,
you know, performance stuff, But I don't like the storyline Turn.
I like, I don't like to portrayal so so again
it's sound. I know it sounds confusing. I don't like
the storyline I like to portray. I like the way
he's portraying it. Yet he's doing a good job as
(07:42):
an actor and writer and was an actor. Say he's
writing good stuff for himself. He's writing stuff, but I'm
not Turn but he's but it's it's all soap stuff.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
I know.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
I probably the must confusing episode ever, right. I think
the bottom line for me is the story of this
storyline is doing a bad taste in my mouth, and
maybe it's maybe.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
It's supposed to.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Maybe it is. Maybe that's the point. It's supposed to
be a bad taste in my mouth. And maybe you
know this is kind of gross. You know, maybe I'm
supposed to feel like, well, they cart really get led
by hope, are they really?
Speaker 1 (08:23):
I mean that that is that?
Speaker 2 (08:24):
I mean it does happen in real life, right making,
body moving all the time. Like for maybe I'm supposed
to feel like, God, Carter, come on, maybe it's gonna
lead to you know, as we fast forward.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Here, I'm bone bell rewind.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Maybe a lead is something where it's gonna be like
this incredible redemption story.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Or I mean maybe it's maybe it is.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
I'll continue watching, of course, and commenting and on our
show on Sundays, The Bone Up Me Spotlight every Sunday
eleven thirty. It's a bad time, am a certain time?
We will Me and Tammy Ovay a man of rust
and Cannas back will scream it out?
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Will we will? And I just I want soapy goodness.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
I want strong I want strong portrayals. You know, it's
Black History Month by my black actors, no matter what
it is, I want good writing for them, I want
good acting for I want good direction from them.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
But like you at home, do you other rights? Not
like a storyline? Right that? I guess that's the bottom line.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Also too, I've a right to like the actor, like
his work, but not the storyline.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
I guess that's the bottom line. I'm James E.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
