Speaker 1 (00:04):
The first NFL game of the season is in the books.
It was a good one. Plus apparently Darren Moojie is
still cooking in the kitchen and another trade is on
the way. Boy Green Daily starts now.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
I'm gonna lose my gas guarded bananas. Boy Green Daily
starts now.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Suets Boy Buggy D Buggy D Buggy.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Let's go.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
Do put your seatbelts on, getting ready for the ride.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
We're the freaking New York Jets, so we're built for
the ship.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Good morning, everybody. I'm Paul Aston Junior aka Boy Green.
I'm the New York Jets digital reporter for heavy dot Com.
Welcome to Boy Green Daily, a daily New York Jets
video show, and oh my goodness, we are two days
away from the Jets season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
If you guys are coming in, make sure you guys
like the video. Hit subscribe on YouTube. Baby Again, we
(01:14):
get closer and closer to eight thousand subscribers. We appreciate
we saw. We also have a phenomenal raffle going on
this month with the brand new item that was just added.
We'll reveal that in a little bit, But every Friday
here on the show, we're graced by the presence of
one of the greatest authors of our time, and his
name is Bob Lederer, also a wonderful New York Jets historian.
(01:37):
Let's bring him in. What's up, Bob? Oh yeah, baby,
look at that.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
It's I think I got a little bit of the
woody look there.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I like that though. But
it's a good look. It's a good look on your Bob.
It's great to see the green and white on any
part of your body as far as I'm concerned. So
that's true. Oh yeah, that's true. Yes, I I didn't
see that.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
It's just for you, boy, just for you.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
I appreciate that. Thank you kindly, Bob. So here we go.
We're gonna talk about the Jets Dealers game, for sure.
We're gonna take a bunch of questions and comments from
people in our audience. But the other thing I would
like to do right off the top is let's go
to some footage. This is from the flight Deck podcast
from Rich Somini. He believes that Darren Muchie is going
(02:26):
to strike a trade for an offensive lineman to help
build the board avoid left by Elija Vera Tucker.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
Let's say I think Darrenmugie's going to trade for a
guard in the next couple of weeks. Avt we talked
about his injury. As of this recording, it looks like
he's going to be out quite likely for the season
because of a torn triceps happened in practice on Tuesday.
We did not get any Aaron Glenn access after Tuesday's practice.
(02:53):
It was before the team was not required to report
that injury on Tuesday because the first injury reports come
out on Wednesday, and so it kind of slipped through
the cracks for twenty four hours there. But the bottom
line is this is a tough break for Avt, who's
in a contract year now. This will be three years
at a five where he's missed significant, significant time with
(03:17):
major injuries. It's rough for him individually. For the line,
they need they need another guard. I mean John Simpson
I think will start on Sunday the left guard, but
he's had a kind of a cranky back this offseason.
He was in and out, missed some practice time. I
don't think they can stay pat at guard. I think
for Sunday they will start Joe Tipman at right guard.
(03:40):
Simpson at left guard and Josh Myers at center. That's
an experienced trio, so they're not that bad there, but
death concerns, I think Muji makes a trade for a guard.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
I think okay, So Rich Tomiti again, there was on
his flight Deck podcast that dropped yesterday that he believes
of Duramuji this crystal Ball prediction segment, we'll be trading
for an offensive lineman sure rather than later now, Bob. Initially,
there's an article on the YouTube description down below that
has more details on this. But when I was trying
to look around the league at first to try to
find first of a team that'd be willing to trade
(04:14):
an offensive lineman and an offensive lineman willing to trade
for that was a difficult search Bob out there in
the universe. But I came up with a list today
for everybody, and this includes players that are on teams,
and there's also some practice squad possibilities that could be
possible here for the Jets, I'm gonna throw you guys
a bunch of names. And again I want to start
off this by saying I'm not going to reveal the
(04:36):
All Pro or Superstar here that's going to emerge, So
just sort of brace yourself.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Also make a little bit of a prediction that will
be what you're doing. Okay, the draft pick they trade
will be a twenty seven pick.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Okay, I like that. I like that prediction.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
He has too little already, you know, that he can
use in twenty six, so twenty seven, you know, and
the Jets would be better hopefully in twenty seven, so
the pick wouldn't be as valuable to the.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Jets exactly right. So okay, here's some of those names.
Cody Ford of the Cincinnati Bengals. He's a former high
draft pick of the Buffalo Bills. He's just sort of
settled into a backup role now he's in his late twenties.
There's Tevin Jenkins. He was a high draft choice of
the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
The Jets were interested in him when he was coming out.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
One hundred percent, and he's a backup now for the
Cleveland Brown So that would certainly make sense for the Jets.
Again their prior interest.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Name get it, but he also get He gets hurt
all the time, and that's why the Bears let him go.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Correct. Here's the name Jet fans will be familiar with.
And you're like, wait, this guy's still in the league.
Chuma Edoga. He is now on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Speaker 6 (05:44):
So.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
I'm not sure how you guys feel about that. In
the audience, there's Alex Kappa. He is a very experienced
offensive lineman on the Las Vegas Raiders. Again, would the
Raiders be willing to trade a very experienced backup offensive lineman?
That's I guess, But he's got a price.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
I suppose, along with a certain wide receiver a two
four some traft pick trade.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Yeah, you know they have to send a plane over anyway,
let's throw more bodies on it. I'm all about it.
That's more efficient this one no plane required. But I'm
not sure if the Jet fans will want this. Evan
Neil of the New York Giants, who didn't do very
well at offensive tackles. They put him at guard this
offseason and he lost out to other former Jet Greg
(06:30):
Van Roten. So again, that's not very high on my list.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Talk about a blast from the past.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
How about this. Here's a family connection that maybe some
Jet fans will resonate with Matt Hennessy, the younger brother
of Thomas hennessee our longest tender New York Jet. He's
on the San Francisco forty nine ers, so he could
be an option. He's got a lot of positional flexibilities
back up, and.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
You know, if you've got to get a player, get
him from an organization that is strong, that knows what
it's doing. Yesterday, to interrupt you just for a second, no, yes, sure,
I saw the Eagles had released an offensive lineman from
their tech from their practice squad, and so I said, wow,
you know, the Eagles have a great offensive line. You know,
anybody who's who's got even an opportunity that has been
(07:13):
their property might be worth looking into. And I looked
at him and he was, you know, graded out as
well below average, So you know, I don't think that's
a possibility.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Yeah, and shout out to Zach Quinn. Here Hennessy and
this is again Matt Hennessy is a younger brother Thomas
enness He can play center two, so he's pretty versatile.
So he'd be probably one of my favorites of this group. Now,
those were all players that the Jets would have to
trade for. They're on fifty three man rosters across the league.
This next last are practice squad players. All the Jets
would have to do is sign them. They would have
(07:44):
to give up no draft compensation, but.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
You have to put him on your fifty three, immediately.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Correct and then replace them or replace the person that
you'd be bringing him on for.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
But they can move any of those people down to
the practice squad.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Good sure, certainly. Yep, again another familiar name for Jet fans.
I actually interviewed him this offseason a couple of weeks ago.
Dan Feeney. He's on the Buffalo Bills. He could play
guard and center. I don't think he's great, but I
think he's solid and maybe that's what the Jets need
right now.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Considering it, I don't think he's starting material.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
Okay, here's another one. Now Jet fans are going to
know this name, but I'm not sure if they're going
to like it. But Matt Lombardo. It was a couple
of weeks ago, sort of floated him as a trade possibility.
Now a trade is not necessary. Cole Strange the former
New England Patriots first round draft choice. He's now in
the Cleveland Browns practice squad and he didn't live up
(08:39):
to the first round pick hype in New England obviously,
but that doesn't matter anymore. Now he's just a practice
squad guy.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
So he is Cleveland picking up every guy who's who
is a top draft pick of every other team and
putting it to the practice squad.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
That's official. Yeah, that's a that's as in Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
It's right there.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Okay, certainly feels this way. I saw this already in
the chat, so you guys know where I'm going with this.
A Dan Skipper, the eligible, not eligible Detroit Lions big
man offensive lineman. He's actually only on their practice squad,
which was from what I heard from Detroit people, a
surprising cut. Again, they were able to effort him back
to the practice squad, but most people thought he was
gonna do That.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Would make sense because you know, Glenn would be very
familiar with him and be able to really get an
provide an insight as to how capable he is and
how how easily it would be to fit him into,
you know, the scheme.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Yeah, and then this is the last name, and this
is a big, fat guy. He's got a lot of experience.
I'm not sure his experience at the guard position. So
unless the Jets are shifting other pieces around, just trying
to bring in the biggest name possible and then they'll
figure out Trent Brown of the Houston Texans. He is
a lot of experience at offensive tackle, not to.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
The experience with He was with the Raiders, wasn't he.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Yeah, Raiders, New England. Yeah, he's been in a bunch
of places.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
In fact, he was very so he was very sought after.
He got a lot of money, Yeah, to sign with
the Raiders. I know three four years ago, maybe it
was longer than that.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Yeah, yeah, that is correct. So you know he's out
there on a practice squad. So again, folks, if you're
just joining us, Rich Simini on the Flight flight Deck
podcast yesterday believes and predicted quite frankly, that Darren mugi
is going to strike a trade for an offensive lineman.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
I am meaning that, which means that Darren Muji is
no Douglas. An important player gets hurt, He's not going
to sit around and just throw in a backup and say,
well what else can I.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Do, which has to be refreshing for Jet fans that
there is not a complacency here from Darren Mugie. So
if you're a Jets fan, you should be excited now,
Rich Simini, I should also have noted this. He did
not name any potential names, so he said that and
then moved on. He didn't say, oh, here are three
names to watch before he didn't mention any names. So
I said, I took up onto myself. I said, all right,
(10:57):
but let me look around the lake and see if
there's anyone interesting. I come through every depth chart in
every practice squad in the National Football.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
If Rich, who is just an excellent Jets reporter and
noise and has known it for thirty years, if Rich
knows that they've made a decision internally basically that they
got to go get a good replacement, I think he
can go to the bank. And it's so fresh an
injury that the Jets themselves have probably had little or
(11:26):
no time as they're preparing for the game this week,
you know, to really give specific thought. Let zero win
and let's go get this guy or that guy, so
they'll have more time, certainly on Monday, you know, and
Tuesday next week to devote themselves to that.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
You nailed it there, Bob. We're just too it's unfortunate.
We're just too late in the week. Steelers game again
is two days away. Even if the Jets acquire the
greatest offensive lineman of all time to try to prepare
him in a day and a half with travel and
everything that he would have to do, that player were
not playing the game. So this conversation about Derrenmujie striking
a trade for somebody in the list I mentioned everything else.
(12:05):
It is a long term move in terms of the
rest of the season. It's not a week one thing,
and maybe it would be even difficult for a week
two things. So this is a long term thing. So, Bob,
this is your first chance getting a chance to talk
about it, you know, and marinate on the Elijah Vair
Tucker thing. And he was heading into the final year
of his contract this year. Just give us your thoughts,
your reaction to that disturbing news.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
That first reaction was the exact first reaction that you
had yesterday, which is, hey, guys, you want to you
want to tarn feather this guy because he got hurt.
That's ridiculous. I mean, he's he's down everything he can.
I'm sure to get healthy, to stay healthy and to
(12:49):
get hurt you know in practice, you know, before the
first game, I feel terrible for him. I feel terrible
because it is his contract year now. The only thing
on the plus side is because he is still considered
a high quality player, is that the Jets might be
able to retain him after the season for nothing near
(13:12):
what they would have had to pay if he had
said healthy. So whatever he's making now, what is he
making now? Four or five million year right now?
Speaker 1 (13:21):
So it's it's a little warped.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
So just for you because this is what this is
year five of the five year contract.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Fift year option. So he's making fifteen point three million
fully guaranteed for this oh wow wow? So which is
souped up that? Again, it's it's that's a warped number
because of the fifth year option compared to what he
was making before. But Bob, I just have to say this,
You're just too good, Bob, You're just too good for us,
because everything you just said actually is a column coming
out in about an hour, in fifteen minutes, because Connor
(13:50):
Hughes and Zach Rosenblood on Jets' Final Drive the S
and Y TV Show last night said exactly what you
just said that Okay, this sucks. ABT a twenty six
year old he's out of the season. For the third
time in five years, and that's terrible. But the silver
lining here is that the chances of ABT coming back
on a team friendly deal increased dramatically, they said, And
(14:12):
like I said, well a full column dropping on that
in about an hour, in fifteen minutes.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
I might feel a little he might feel a little
bit guilty about getting the fifteen million dollars, taking it
home and having it this season and not having played
it down, and feeling that he owes something to the organization.
So he might you know, sign a short term deal
with them unless they're willing to give him something it's
a little bit sweeter longer term. But you know, there's
(14:37):
no doubt that if he gets out on the market,
he's going to be one of the quality guards out there.
I mean, look at how difficult it is to get
one now or even during the off season. So this
is really an opportunity for him and for the Jets,
you know, maybe to make something work that works for
both of them. He's obviously not going to he's not
(15:00):
going to have the wheelbarrow ready to roll, you know,
you know, for the big bucks. And by the way,
I did not read Connor. I was actually out last night.
Didn't even see it down to the football game. And
so Connor, you're you're a smart guy.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
And that's what I would say. Is again, so people
are arguing in the chats, I'm sure that'll make the
phone calls lovely and a little bit about Ah, no,
just get rid of him, he's injury prone. Ah bring
him back on the one year deal. Everyone's disagreeing. I
would say, you know, you know for Abt, you know,
you never know. I guess a twenty six year old
offensive lineman, maybe someone will be willing to risk it
(15:37):
and give him a multi year deal because this is
such a rare opportunity and maybe someone's going to be
willing to do that. I would assume not based on
the history, which means his most likely solution is signed
a one year proven deal with the Jets, get decent
money with some incentives to a Tyron Smith incentive like package.
Prove that you're as good as you say you are,
(15:58):
and if you are, you'll get handsome rewarded by the
Jets with incentives, and then you get cash in when
you're twenty seven and go to town. And I think
that's ultimately what happens with abt. So you know, we'll see.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
That's But the really wonderful thing as a as a
Jets fan is that you have a general manager who,
unlike Joe Douglas, who did some good things. I mean,
I don't want to completely take him over the coals,
but you know, quarterback Aaron Rodgers got hurt. He did
not go out and get a reasonable, you know, replacement,
(16:32):
and last year with the kicking situation horrendous. Yeah, you know,
And and I think he let them continue to use
their kicker because they didn't have any better options or
they thought obviously they may have thought that, oh, we're
gonna he's gonna snap out of it, but you see,
you see in practice every single day that he wasn't
snapping out of it.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Yeah. Yeah, you know, Like I said, well, we'll see
where this goes for the Jets. A quick shadow. We
have three hundred people in the room. Make sure you
guys like the video, hit subscribe, appreciated, show your support,
and let's just do this right now, Bob. Let's let's
show the people. So we've got some big news. We've
had a raffle that you guys have all been bidding
(17:14):
on over the last couple of days, but a new
item that's perhaps greater than any other item that's ever
been in this Raffles history has just entered the proverbial
octagon and I want to give a big shout out
to Badshaw. So, folks, here's here's how it works. If
you're new to the channel, if you spend three bucks
on this YouTube channel at any point during the month
(17:34):
of September, you're eligible for a raffle giveaway. How do
you do that? Well, if you're watching on YouTube, there's
a money sign. You click that, a bunch of options,
pop cup, supersticker, super chats, gifting channel memberships and being
a channel member to the Boy Green Coffee Club gives
you all kinds of perks to early access videos and
in loyalty badges and things of that nature. But here
(17:56):
is our prize pack, and it includes a new item
that is beautifully placed. There right in the middle, there
is a personalized autograph copy of the greatest book of
all time, Beyond Broadway Joe, the Super Bowl team that
changed Football, that was donated by bad Shaw, bad Shaw's
purchasing the book and Bob Lederer for whoever the winner
(18:16):
is will personally customize that autograph for you out in
the universe. Who wins our raffle for the month of September.
So if you spend it for Johnson, okay, great, all right,
here you go, Woody. So yeah, if Woody or any
of you spends three dollars on the channel at any
point this month, you have a chance to win this
entire prize back that I will read out here in
(18:38):
a second. Uh, but we will give that away on
October first, So keep that in mind. So here's all
the items up for grabs this month. What a what
A what a prize? And I see people now saying, oh,
I'm betting on this. Okay, great, well, good luck to
all you guys. We have the random vintage Jets player
T shirt from the past, a New York Jets sideline hoodie,
a one of a kind Jet Zone banner from me
(18:59):
and my former co host Ty Butler who's now at
ESPN New York, with a MetLife Stadium drop back, a
New York Jets polo, and I just mentioned that personalized
autograph copy of Beyond Broadway Joe, the Super Bowl team
that changed football forever. In a big shout out to
bad Show, has been donating some books over the last
couple of raffles, which is really cool. So appreciate it
(19:19):
from bad Shop baby, and let's go. There you go, Bob,
thank you for donating your half of this, which was
an important piece of the puzzle. You autographing it, well.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
I was. I felt honored that bad Shaw wanted to
put this in, you know, as one of the awards
rewards for winning it. And I only wish I could
win it myself, but and I'd have to mail it
to myself.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Oh yeah, that's true. We'd have to figure that part out,
the science of that. But nonetheless we'll try to see
what we could do from that perspective. All right, let's
do two things here. First off, Philly Noodle says he
wants in on that action, and he just gifted a
Boy Green Coffee Club member. All right, That membership went
(20:05):
to Luke Hutchins. Luke Hutchins, you are now a member
of the Boy Green Coffee Club. In Philly Noodles, you
got yourself a raffle ticket to win that fabulous prize back,
which is your first Raffle of the month. So there
you go. Philly Noodles is in the raffle here, Bob nice,
All right, here we go. There's one other Devin.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
You said you'd buy the book if I'd be more
optimistic about the Jets. Well you won't. I won't have
to be optimistic and you won't have to buy the
book if you win the raffle.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Yeah, yeah, look at that. He's skirting around that, which
is very interesting. And now Philly Noodles sends in a
super chat here on the show, which we appreciate. Thank
you very much, Raw Philly, thanks for being a member
to the channel for fourteen months. Appreciate it. Copy what
the Eagles do and we should be all right. Yes,
the Philadelphia Eagles got the win against the Dallas Cowboys,
(20:54):
a fun game last night to kick off the NFL season.
Back and forth, incredibly long weather delay. I stayed up
for all of the festivities. The Eagles ended up winning
twenty four to twenty. And here were the stats of
one Jalen Hurts nineteen to twenty three, so incredibly efficient
but only one hundred and fifty passing yards, no touchdowns,
(21:15):
no picks, was only sacked once and had a ninety
three point seven QBR. He led the team in rushing
fourteen carries for sixty two yards and two touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
Oh really, yes, Bays. Green Bay's defense against the run
was much better last night than Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
The Cowboys, I'm sure, much better than had been advertised
in which your dad said would be vastly improved. Yeah,
the Cowboys better because of their defense.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
Yeah. So it did a pretty fair job against Saquon Barclay.
The only problem was and I thought the run defense
held up pretty well despite what some of the jokes
were on social media last night. I would say the
things that hurt him was a lack of a game
plan for Jalen Hurts, which is confusing because Jalen Hurts
his mobility is well documented and well advertised. So a
few times he just scrambled, looked around, saw open rushing lanes.
(22:04):
There wasn't a QB spy. There wasn't great RUSS integrity
by the defensive lineman or linebackers for that matter, of
trying to contain Jalen Hurts. So he just got to
sit in the pocket, up no one's open, swam outside
the stream, and then just walked into the end zone
for two big time touchdowns for the Eagles. The Cowboys
could have, should have word have won this game for sure,
(22:25):
but Jalen Hurts was just able to get loose. So yes,
Philly Noodles, you know, Jalen Hurts is a much more
souped up version of justin Fields than justin Fields, although
justin Fields is faster and thinks of that nature. But
Jalen heards some more accomplished quarterback, clearly, but in no way.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
I'm I'm sure we're gonna hear from Philly this morning,
but for sure, which what does he want us to
copy about the Eagles, what they did in the first
half or what happened after the rain That rain delay
was like watching a major league baseball game. We have
a great starting pitcher and he goes three innings and
then you know, the Skies open up up and the
team is not going to continue to let him go
(23:02):
out after one hour delay and the other team comes
back against the other you know, players on the other
pitchers on the team.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
Well, hopefully the thing that Jets don't copy is that
Porus Eagles defense last night and and Jalen Carter spitting
at Dak Prescott and immediately getting disqualified from the game
thirty seconds in so hopefully some of that because I
could definitely see Michael Clemons in that role. So I'd
love to not copy that part of the strategy.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
Philly noodles, but those words right out of my head.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, so let's avoid that. But no, in general,
though on a surface level, you know, black and white
with it, there's more to it. It's more complicated than that,
but yeah, copying some of those philosophies, right, Jalen Hurts
is going to win any MVP votes for his one
hundred and fifty yards passing, but it was just enough
to win a football game against what was clearly a
(23:53):
very competent and six seconds in, Stephen Fox corrected me,
thank you very much on Jalen Carter's decision. But that's
efficient football that can help win some games.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
So well, obviously, the game plan was not to take
risks to just dink and dunk and be satisfied. You know.
The other day, you know, Glenn and I think our
offensive coordinator said, hey, you know, we'll take the nine
yard passes that they give us. Sure, which is you know,
I think a lot of what the Steelers and a
lot of other teams are going to do so it's
(24:25):
going to be interesting to see, you know, third and
twelve whether that nine yard pass is going to get
him what they need for a first down. But you
know that's what that's why you play the game.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
So let's get into this Jets Steelers game, Bob, and
let's get your thoughts on it. We have all the
juicy revenge angles anyone could ever want. Hey, if you're
writing a book, you like all these storylines that you
have featured in it. With Justin Fields facing his ex
girlfriend the Pittsburgh Steelers, Aaron Rodgers facing his ex girlfriend
the New York Jets. What do you make of all
of it?
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Well, first things first, you know that that slide I
sent you yesterday, would you put you yes?
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Yeah, sure, let's I'm.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Always curious because there's a thing that tends to happen
here in Chicago for the first game of the season,
and if the Bears aren't playing the first game of
the season until Monday night or or whenever, CBS here
has a dilemma, they have a question are they going
to put up another NFC Central you know game. There's
(25:25):
obviously avid interest here in what the Packers doing, what
the Lions do, and what Minnesota does or do you
put the Jets in as your premier game on Sunday?
And so put up that slide, Paul.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Yes, so I'm just getting a cleaner version of it.
I have a cleaner version of it from ah here
it is from earlier in the week. I'm going to
grab this real quick.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Everybody, look at this. When you're a Jets fan and
you don't live in the New York metropolitan area.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Okay, let's see. Here we go. We'll have this up
here in just a moment, olks. Uh, hang on tay
with our I'm a monkey operating a spotlight over here,
though I appreciate any technical difficulties that are taking place here. Okay,
here it is. Okay, Okay, here we go. Here we go.
My apologies, folks for the delay. But here it is
(26:18):
right here on the screen.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Boom, presto Okeah you see you see all that that
kind of reddish color. That's not a political map to
show you where all the Republicans are the map of
that's the map of all the areas of the United
States that are going to see the Jets Steelers game
on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Mmm, that's a lot of coverage, and I.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Had to look closely at what what is the shape
of Illinois, and everything south of Chicago is getting the Colts.
Everything north of those blue lines that you see there
in the middle of the country. Yeah, those are that's
the Jets in Chicago. Nice And the only thing other
blue is down in Florida because a dollaturally right. Yeah, yeah,
(27:02):
but this is These are the twelve o'clock or twelve
o'clock for Central or one o'clock the early beings across
the country. Now, this is interesting and important to me
because if the Jets look really good on Sunday, we
may see more Jet games here locally on CBOs. All Right,
if the Jets, you know, don't look very good, that
(27:22):
this is probably the last time we'll see the Jets
here locally on CBS. So I've got a really extra
rooting interest that we just play really well on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
And thankfully, Bobby, either way, we have a picture of it,
so just in case the Jets do lose and it
starts going away, we can always remember this fondly with
this image that you've sent me here. So thank you
very much.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
But all I did is I asked yesterday I asked Google, Yeah,
where in the country are the Jets going to be
the Jet steel the game going to be seen? And
this popped up and I went, Wow, it's amazing. Look
at all that coverage. You know, the Patriots. The Patriots
are playing you know, Vegas, and that's the green in
the upper right hand corner. Yeah, and we cut off
(28:05):
the yellow there. So I'm surely sure exactly what that is.
But look at the coverage that they're giving the Jets.
So the CBS television.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
Network Arizona and New Orleans, Arizona, New Orleans is the yellow.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
CBS is really hyped about a New York team that
has the potential, you know, to be a very interesting
team for them to showcase week after week.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
And just in general, I think this game is just
fascinating to the casual fan. Of course, there's all that
interest first year aad coach, justin Fields, all that jazz
and Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh angle, But just in general,
I think the game is incredibly fascinating. And I had
Blake Jones, who's the NFL Senior director of Broadcasting. I'm
a big NFL schedule nerd Bob, and every year when
(28:55):
the schedule comes out. We have a member from the
League office, from their scheduling department, which is a department
of like four or five people that are making the
brain trust decisions on these schedule join us on the
show every year and we talk about some of those decisions.
And Blake Jones told me and so few words that hey,
(29:15):
if we knew Aaron Rodgers as signed, which they did
not know officially by that point, they would have made
that the Monday night football game. So your Bears locally
would have been kicked off Monday Night Football in place
of the New York Jets. I'm curious where that Bears
Vikings game would have placed, but that would have been
the Monday Night football game in Week one of the
Jets would have started back to back seasons with Monday
Night football. Of course, last year that forty nine Ers game.
(29:36):
This year it would have been Jet Stealers. But alas
it ends up being a one o'clock game mixed in
a pool of ten other games. But clearly the gods,
the television gods, are doing their park to make sure
as many people can see it in that pool of
one o'clock games as possible.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
YEP, so let's go Jets.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
All right, beautiful? So that is the chart on it.
Is there anything else before we get to all the
animals out there in the universe? Want to say on
this Jets Steelers game.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
I got a whole bunch of stuff and I don't
want to hold them. I don't want to hold them up,
so you know, let let them in. I'll throw in
some stuff. The only thing I'll say first, And I
was reading collecting stuff all week. Michael Nannia wrote a
column just last Sunday that talked about something that is
really hard to quantify, and that is the advantage that
(30:24):
Jets might have on special teams. You know, who knows
in the first part of the season, because you have
so many rookies playing special teams, how good those units
are going to be. But Nania said he thought the
Jets had a potentially significant advantage there. So you know,
with everything else that's going on, you know, we'll we'll see.
(30:48):
Now I want to give a prediction, but I also
want to say, first of all, I'm terrible. I'm terrible
with my predictions. I'm going to go opposite of what
I expect, Okay, okay, And I think the Jets are
going to win sixteen to thirteen. But don't hold but
(31:09):
don't hold me to it. Don't hate me on Monday morning.
I'm I'm always.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
Wrong, Okay. I wish you would have said that and
then picked the Steelers. That would have made me.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
I picked the Steelers. You know, my heart says Jets
and my brain says Steelers. But I you know, I
do believe what you have brought up several times, and
you know, I think it's important. Is that the track
record that Rogers has in first games, and I think
the track record even more so with the Jets last year.
(31:43):
And he did not look really sharp until they made
the trade for his buddy, and then all of a sudden,
first of all, he started throwing the ball more. But secondly,
that's when he started to look sharp. And he's had
only about a month in training camp.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
That's it to.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Work work with Metcalf and the other receivers. And he
crowed yesterday about all the great tight ends that they had.
I'm sure that's going to be, you know, somewhat of
a difference maker. But you know, their offensive line is
very similar to ours, as you've also pointed out. And
I'm sure, you're I didn't get to watch the interview
you did with the Steelers Insider, but I've seen a
(32:22):
couple of others during the week, and they make the
same point is that they have a young, learning offensive
line and it's going to be very interesting to see
what kind of tricks that Glenn has up his sleeve,
you know, because he's obviously like every other head coach
in the league. He's shown nothing during preseason as far
(32:44):
as his defense.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Goes, and nor should and nor should he, so there
will be the unscouted look.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
And I agree with you, and I think they've indicated
that Sauce is going to stay on Matt Metcalf no
matter where he goes.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
That's what it seems like. They haven't out right said it,
although Aaron Glenn speaks later this morning, so I'm sure
that question will be asked. But Jack's not.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
Gonna and he's not going to give an answer to
going to say. He will say Sauce will be out there.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
And that's exactly what he's going to say. Zach Roseblot
said last night, who covers the Jets for The Athletic,
believes that Sauce Gardner is going to travel with DK Metcalf,
So we'll see what the truth is on Sunday. Aaron Glenn,
of course is the one that holds the cards, uh
in that perspective, But that's what I would do if
I was running the defense.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
And I also wonder how much of the defense Glenn
is going to get himself involved with, since he's got
a very competent, ordinated Yeah, so I'm sure, you know,
I'm sure that there's going to have some input maybe
before the game and at halftime. But you know it'll
be interesting to see. Well, actually we won't see it
(33:49):
because the defensive coordinator will be up in the booth
and you won't see the two of them getting together
maybe as they come off the field to come on
the field. But although you won't see how involved Aaron
Gunn gets involved, you may see him talking a lot
on his headset.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
We have four hundred people watching and one hundred and
thirty of those people are on YouTube right now, but

Of course, we have Bob Letterer here, that handsome bastard.
He's here on the show as well. You know, he
brings the face to Boy Green Daily here. But we
have a caller, Bob that people have been waiting to
(35:58):
see for some time, and he's making his return to
the airwaves for the first I don't even know how
long it's been. Maybe people out there know, but it's
been months.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
It's not Helf, it's not Helf.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
Heap is waiting and norm I go to HEP. But
there's someone else we must go to. There is a
pressing call we must go to. And this is a
guy that has been gone for many months. You guys
have been begging for this guy. People have wanted to
see him, people have wanted to hear him, and now
they can without further at do. Let's bring him in.
(36:34):
He's back, baby. It's a Laan baby who's returned to
the show, the Iowa Hawkeye himself Alan.
Speaker 10 (36:40):
Welcome back, greetings and salutations boys. First of all, good morning,
good morning sir and Bob Shaba saloon just thank you,
same to you.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
Yeah, my wife is.
Speaker 10 (36:54):
A rabbi by the way, So really, where do you
Where do you live?
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Are you in Iowa?
Speaker 10 (36:59):
No, I'm ill. I Actually I'm from New York. But
I actually live in North Dallas right now, North Dallas.
Speaker 6 (37:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Yeah. I have a friend down the street has their
daughter who lives in Dallas. Yes, yeah, so, but I
grew up.
Speaker 10 (37:13):
I became a Hawkeye fan about twenty five years ago.
Been too Iowa a couple of times and love the Hawkeyes.
Huge game tomorrow, a huge game.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
Alon. Let me first off, just start off with it.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
I've been to Iowa a couple of times and I
was ready to leave pretty quickly. Yell, yeah, good for you,
you know, thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Yeah, I'll played the fifth on that one. I'm sure,
and everyone you're going to get to this thing I'm
going to ask, but let me just ask it off
the top. Was this date circled on the calendar? Was
something set or uttered into the universe that summoned you
like a genie from a lamp.
Speaker 10 (37:46):
I was pointing out this day because I actually work
my real job. My real job, I work.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
From home twice a week, Okay, so.
Speaker 10 (37:56):
I work Mondays and Fridays remote Okay, I'm in the
office Tuesday to Thursday. So your show here is at
six thirty in the morning. I'm usually in the car
around seven, so I listened to the first half an
hour and jump in the car. I'm usually in the
car at seven thirty. Quick question, pul did you actually
(38:20):
pick the Jets to win twelve games this year?
Speaker 1 (38:24):
You know, I have done a few prediction shows. My
pop was one that we did game by game together
where I didn't. He said, Hey, are you picking a
number in your head and then you're just going to
figure out your way to that number before we do this.
I'm like, hell no, I'm like, let's just go and
we'll figure it out.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
Were you sober when you made it all last weekend?
Speaker 1 (38:46):
My legal represent my legal representaations informed me to plead
the fifth on that question.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
Yes, so you actually picked twelve wins? Right?
Speaker 1 (38:57):
I did. Now, apparently according to Dny for Life, it's
a little low. His floor is twelve.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
So you know, is there a cup in front of you, Paul,
there's a bucket? Is there?
Speaker 10 (39:09):
What kind of alcohol is actually in the bucket?
Speaker 2 (39:12):
Moonshine?
Speaker 10 (39:15):
I appreciate it, Bob, Thank you so, Bob I have
a question for you. I give you loads of credit
having to deal with some of the dopes in this chat.
Oh come on, I'm your dope. These are good, honest
Jets fans.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Yes.
Speaker 10 (39:30):
Yeah, on your stance with Justin Fields, I'm in total agreement.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Okay.
Speaker 10 (39:37):
People think he's the next Messiah.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Here, can I can? I can I give the the
official description of what I expect from him this year?
Speaker 6 (39:47):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Okay, and this is something that I developed the last
couple of weeks. I'm not from Missouri. Show me. That's
a good way to put it.
Speaker 10 (39:57):
Again, when your issue with the quarterback is that he's indecisive,
and he doesn't go through progressions well, and he's throwing
his scatter arm. Yes, very very difficult.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
But that's why I said the defense. I said this
last week. The defense is so critical. They have to
give him an optimum number of opportunities because he might
look terrible in one series and the next one he
might look like like vintage Aaron Rodgers. So you know,
we don't know what we're gonna get. But that's the
way it sounded like in practice. You know, from the
(40:35):
all the reports we got that they'd come out on
the field, and they couldn't do anything right. He gets,
he'd get intercepted whatever, and then he would come out
later and he would, you know, throw touchdowns all over
the field. Don't worry.
Speaker 10 (40:48):
In eight months, we will find our real quarterback he needs.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
Come on, Justin Field's the guy.
Speaker 1 (40:55):
I got it on the T shirt.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
It's pretty official.
Speaker 10 (40:58):
Eight months, when we all be picking in the top eight,
we will be finding our real quarterback.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
Who is the Iowa starting quarterback?
Speaker 2 (41:04):
He sucks.
Speaker 10 (41:05):
Trust me, you don't want him.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
Trust me. The Illinois quarterbacks.
Speaker 10 (41:10):
The Illinois quarterback he's okay. I like, I don't think
he's a top.
Speaker 2 (41:15):
He's not, but he gets. He gets gotten better every year.
He's going to be a top. But he's going to
be an NFL player.
Speaker 10 (41:22):
A couple of comments, three season ending injuries in five years.
H No, I think it's time to part ways with
mister Vera Tucker. I hope he enjoys time on the
West Coast. He's from the West Coast. He can sign
his two year deal with the Chargers of the Rams,
(41:43):
make it, maybe have the first year guaranteed and the
second year not. He's not coming back here, and honestly,
I think it's a blessing in disguise for the Jets.
And I'll tell you why. I think the Jets were
really leary about giving him one hundred million dollars, and
that's what they were going to have to do if
(42:03):
he had played really well.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
So now they don't have to do it. Now They're like,
we don't have to pay him now, but now you
have to find somebody else. That is a really good
alternative to stick in there. And if you're talking about
a draft pick, you're not going to spend a first
round draft pick on a guard.
Speaker 10 (42:22):
Joe Timman the right guard, and I always thought Joe
Timman will be their right guard. They'll bring back Simpson
and play left guard, and Iowa center Logan Jones. Third
round mentored by the Great Tyler Linderbaum. Okay, the great
Tyler Linderbraum a lot.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
I can see why you're so favored by so many
Jet fans out there.
Speaker 10 (42:47):
I speak the truth, Bob. Other people are morons. That's
the difference. I speak the truth. It's the Jewish faith. Okay,
that's why.
Speaker 2 (42:55):
That's what given my wife my father used to call
everybody moron.
Speaker 10 (43:00):
So I get what you're saying, as far as Sunday
is concerned, I was thinking seventeen thirteen Steelers to start,
and that was before the injury. I think it's a
two score game on Sunday. It's a bad matchup both ways.
Josh Myers is going to get trampled over the middle
(43:24):
from the likes of Hayward and Benton, and I worried
defensively against the thirteen personnel of bat Friarmouth and john
Us Smith. Really tough matchup on both sides. Unless the
Jets can control the line of scrimmage keep the ball
for thirty eight minutes. I think it's a really tough matchup.
Speaker 2 (43:45):
Well it's it's you know, look, they're gonna They're gonna
run the ball and run the ball and run the ball.
This is the game where they're going to go for
it on the ground, absolutely pounding, pounding away, no matter
how much success or lack that they have, because they
have to establish that they have a running game. And
you know, if they can't, oh my god, with Buffalo
(44:06):
coming next, boy, that's that's really a fearsome situation.
Speaker 10 (44:10):
I actually looked at the two lines the next two
weeks Buffalo minus eight and a half next week and
Tampa minus eight in two weeks, So they better win
Sunday because I smell oh in three. Okay, that's what
I'm saying. As far as the season, six and eleven
is where I see this team. I see a top
eight pick for the Jets. Hopefully they can find a
(44:34):
real quarterback. Then maybe it's nuss Meyer, maybe it's Levitt.
I don't know if they'll be as bad to get
Eleanora Sellers, but they need to find a real quarterback
because hard ahead.
Speaker 1 (44:48):
Yeah, club Nick, that's Nyjetsfl's guy.
Speaker 10 (44:51):
Okay, he needs to play better than he did the
other night.
Speaker 2 (44:54):
It might be really hard to get a really good
quarterback with a top eight pick unless you're gonna deal
to get higher in the draft, which is I think
what they'd have to do.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
What was Josh Allen?
Speaker 2 (45:05):
He was like the seventh of ros He was the
seventh thick.
Speaker 10 (45:08):
Top eight is being conservative. I could see them being
a little worse. So I'm being ninth to the top eight.
Speaker 2 (45:14):
Do you think they're going to get better as the
season goes on? As I do.
Speaker 10 (45:18):
I think they will be two and six at the break. Again,
their only favorites in one of their first eight games,
that's the Carolina game at home. I can see them
winning one of the other games. I could see them
getting better. It's usually the Jets mo they usually start
out like crap and they win meaningless games in December.
(45:39):
So I can see them being a six and eleven team.
I could see them getting better, but I don't think
it really matters.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
Do you see the defense keeping them in games?
Speaker 10 (45:50):
I think the key to the defense is number one,
how effective Jermaine Johnson is early in the season. Again,
I have a problem people like, Oh, he's going to
be so great off the bat, guy's coming off an achilles.
I don't expect to see Jermaine being Jermaine until maybe
mid to late October.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
Again, So let's let's talk about that Alan for a second,
because I think you're right that it's going to take
a long time for Jermaine to get back. But then
how do we explain the Jets moves, Because the Jets
moves indicate that what the fans say, Jermaine's going to
be back immediately. Because if you thought that he was
going to take some time, let's say October, then why
(46:32):
wouldn't you have signed a competent defensive end or drafted
one or anything to help alleviate that pressure off Jermaine.
So you're not expecting Jermaine to be Jermaine off the
bat because they had Again, I've been pounding the table
for Clowney. If you don't like Clowny, fine pick your
person out in the universe. There's plenty of them out
there that could have been a guy when they didn't
add a guy. That says to me, damn, they must
(46:54):
really expect Jermaine just to come off the bat, because
if not, it doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 10 (46:58):
How do I explain the move I explained the moves
based on the fact that twenty twenty five is a
transition season. I do not think they're gonna throw all
their cards out there. And you mentioned Zadarius Smith and
Jadavion Clowney. First of all, Jadavion Clowney, as you said,
is a mercenary, but he also wants to get paid
and play for a winner. He's not coming here. Zadarius Smith,
(47:21):
I still believe goes back to Detroit. Push comes to shove.
So if you look at the Jets, especially week one,
Let's say I think I mentioned on another show sixty
offensive snaps for the Steelers, what percentage do you see
Germaine playing? Maybe twenty five thirty percent. See, you're basically
(47:43):
telling me thirty five snaps you're expecting to see the
likes of Michael Clemens and Brayden McGregor. That's a big,
big problem.
Speaker 2 (47:55):
Let me go back to the offense and to fields
in particular. Sure, and there's a big pro and a
big con here. The big con from the Jets perspective,
or the big pro from the Jets perspective, is that
the Steelers and and Paul had this, you know, with
his interviews, like a lot of other people did. The
(48:16):
Steelers had big problems with option quarterbacks last year, yep,
and and and and they had feels in camp on
the team probably running the practice team against them. And
so if they were going to ever be prepared for
that kind of a player, that should have been the situation.
(48:39):
And and that's what they're facing this this week. So
I mean, that's that's my hope about about fields is
that if they can just keep the offense and I
want to see the offense, you know, run really at
at a very rapid pace, don't give the Steelers a
lot of time to make adjustments to shuttle players in
(49:01):
and out. Let's let's almost run a two minute offenses
as often as we can and just have pre designed
a list of pre selected plays. My belief is on
their defense. I think that Queen is gonna be a
guy who spies fields. I would not be surprised if
(49:21):
they match up Peyton Wilson with Mason Taylor. He's a
guy who's always played well against tight ends, and with
the Jets inability to find themselves a number two option
at the wide receiver position, I can see their defense
sliding over and playing tight on Garrett. I just don't
think the Jets have enough weapons. I think they have.
(49:45):
The Steelers have an elite seven front seven. I think
they'll get penetration up the middle, especially without Vera Tucker.
I can see guys like Loudermilk and Benton and my
boy Black and uh Cam Hayward getting into the backfield,
and I worry about the matchup of a lot against men.
(50:08):
What about what about when we run the ball. Don't
you have any confidence that our offensive line can open holes?
I worry about that, especially with the right guard not
being there.
Speaker 10 (50:20):
I thought the biggest advantage the Jets had was when
you had Vera, Tucker and Membu on the right side.
It's definitely different if you move hit him into the
right guard spot and have him play next to Membuh,
it's not the same effectiveness. So I worry that the
(50:40):
Jets will not get as much six having as much
success on the right side.
Speaker 2 (50:48):
But membos members strength is the running game supposed to his.
His shortcoming that he needs work on is past protection.
I believe with that Tippett is going to be I
think Tippett and here are going to be able to
open to some holes there on the right side. Yeah,
I know.
Speaker 10 (51:06):
Philly Noodles mentioned that Hayward's not playing. Hayward is playing.
They already mentioned yesterday that Hayward, well, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
I was listening to a simulcast yesterday between a Jets
podcast and a Steelers podcast, and the Steeler podcast said
he's not playing, even though I've seen report after report
saying if they tell you he's not playing, don't believe it.
He's playing. But you know, I don't know what to
believe about that.
Speaker 1 (51:32):
I think me and Elana are about to say the
same thing. If you look at the injury report where
you have to give a designation, there was rest day
listed next to Hayward, so that appeared. Again that was
the big question. If that didn't appear, then he just
clearly skipped practice and said, hey Steelers, you know, go
pound some certain other objects because like that's not going
(51:52):
to happen. So that rest day to me says, okay,
maybe that calms down the situation. But again, we'll see.
We got another what today for today's Friday. We'll get
another practice report today, so we'll see what happens there.
Speaker 10 (52:03):
Again, the Jets better win Sunday because it's going to
be a really long September. If they don't, I don't
see them winning the next two weeks. I could see
an know win three, start going to Miami week four
Monday night, and I think that's gonna be an issue.
But again, I always looked at twenty twenty five as
(52:23):
that transition year. I didn't mind them bringing in Fields.
I was shocked they gave him thirty million guaranteed. That
that shocked the hell out of me. I thought they
were going to maybe give him two years at twenty
four million, maybe sixteen million. Guaranteed, but giving him thirty
million guaranteed, they definitely overpaid in my opinion. But again
(52:44):
I looked at twenty twenty five as that transition year,
and hopefully late April they will find themselves a real
quarterback because right now they do not have one.
Speaker 2 (52:57):
Well, whoever that real quarterback is, he's not going to
dark next year. He will not.
Speaker 10 (53:01):
I think he will play midway through the twenty twenty
sixth season. They can't cut Fields. His cap had in
twenty twenty six is twenty three million, with twenty two
million being dead cap, So I think he will start
next year, maybe play six to eight games, and then
transition over to their real quarterback in the middle of that.
Speaker 2 (53:21):
You know, that's going to create a big problem and
why I don't know why we're running into next year already,
but they'll create a real problem because it'll be hard
to find a quarterback in college that you like as
much alone as you might who's going to be at
all similar to Justin.
Speaker 10 (53:38):
Fields, Sellers is a guy who could be that. I
don't think it'n be that bad to be a Sellers
in that range. For Sellers, maybe a Matier if he
continues to play well. He's a guy who can be
drafted in the top fifteen. So those are very similar
type of quarterbacks as fields. Definitely RPO type of players.
(53:58):
But again, I don't look at twenty twenty five is
a season that this team could actually win. I think
they'll battle the Dolphins for the basement of the AFC
East and it's fine. I look at twenty twenty five
and I'll just conclude here as an opportunity for some
of their younger players, some of their twenty twenty five
draft picks, to really step up. Whether it's Membo, whether
(54:21):
it's Taylor, whether it's Smith. Maybe Malachi Moore can actually
step in for an ineffective Tony Adams midway through this season.
Maybe we'll see a little bit more Azy Thomas midway
through the season. That's what twenty twenty five is all about.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
So this is a big coaching up here. But alone,
I want to thank you for your Bryce. Bryce, guys
and Sunshine look at the at the upcoming season.
Speaker 10 (54:44):
Absolutely, Bob, and again I agree with.
Speaker 2 (54:47):
You, and don't don't be shy. We want I want
to hear from you every Friday.
Speaker 1 (54:51):
Well, that was going to be my next question.
Speaker 6 (54:52):
A lot.
Speaker 10 (54:53):
Is this?
Speaker 1 (54:54):
Hey, everybody, God bless And then you revert back to
the comments. This is now your entrance to the season,
and now it's a regular thing. What is your what
are your plans?
Speaker 10 (55:04):
I will not be on next Friday because I will
be in the air next Friday. I actually am going
to Vermont next week with my job so beautiful. I
have a four thirty am flight Friday morning back to Dallas.
So but I will be back in the few fridays,
And when the Jets are one in five, I will
call in and I will say to the people out there,
(55:26):
who are the ten and eleven win Jets fans, or
look in the mirror and realize that what I say
is right about the twenty twenty five Jets, six and
eleven top eight pick gentlemen, it's been a pleasure, and
again the pleasure is all yours.
Speaker 2 (55:41):
Thank you very much alone, thank you for gracing us
with your presence. And and I get critiqued for being
too negative.
Speaker 1 (55:50):
Well, Bob, you have not had a chance to meet
Alan yet. Well, apparently you're welcome. Wow, there is a
lot of callers waiting, and boy, oh boy, there's a
lot to unpack with that phone call. Mm, well, uh,
he told you what.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
He Hey, he told you what he thinks. He didn't
beat around the bush. He didn't you well, maybe this
and maybe that, and you know, I don't I can't
disagree with a lot of what he says, but I'm hoping,
beyond hope that a lot of what he said is
not actually going to come to pass.
Speaker 1 (56:23):
Yeah, I'm hoping his crystal ball is a little, you know,
off off kilter. Perhaps as he was looking through the seconds.
Oh sorry, it was turned to the left.
Speaker 2 (56:30):
Yeah, he picked up the wrong crystal ball this week.
Speaker 1 (56:33):
Perhaps, right, Yeah, he went to the wrong shop. That
hopefully that was it. So we got a lot of
calls to get to so okay, let's continue the train.
Help was up next, so hap, yes, what's good morning?
Speaker 7 (56:44):
Good morning guys. To answer Alan, the first thing I
would do is, I know we're nervous about that. Their
their defensive front. So first play, I would catch him
sleep and I would say, Arian Smith, go for it.
We're going downtown.
Speaker 3 (57:00):
Even if he misses it, just loosen up the middle.
Speaker 2 (57:03):
I'm not worried about their defensive line. I'm more focused
on on the Jets offensive line and what they can do,
because I think they're going to try to ram it
down their throats on the first series and if they
don't have any success, they're going to try it again
with some changes, some operations. I mean, you can't, you
(57:25):
can't be something you're not sure. You know, they're not
going to be throwing the ball all over the field.
Speaker 6 (57:30):
No, No, I don't think they're going to do that.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
I don't think going back and going for it with
Arian Smith on the first play or any any time
early is the way to do it. I think you
will agree if you think about it. Have the way
you do it is after you run it up their
gut about a dozen times and get yardage. And I
think they're going to be able to get some yardage
on the Steelers, because I would when they really start
(57:55):
to stack it, that's when you do a fly with
with Arion Smith.
Speaker 1 (58:00):
I think I have I totally disagree with Bob. I'm
with you, and this is what I would say because
Mike tom and I was listening to his press convernce
earlier this week, and Mike Tomlin said it several times
in his press covets. He this is his press conference
a little differently. It's unique hearing how guy's hand to it.
He does like a ten to fifteen minute soliloquy going
through the entire Jets roster. Before anyone asks any questions,
(58:21):
he gives his thoughts on the quarterbacks, the running backs,
the receivers, the offensive line. I'm it's just an overflowing
him out of information. I'm like wow. And in there
he's like, Aaron Glenn has made things very transparent. They
plan on running, running, running, running, and doing more running,
and I agree with you, that's what I would do.
First player of the game Jets received the opening kickoff
right jessin fields outside the huddle. He's getting it electronically
(58:42):
sent to him. Uh huh uh huh. And he goes
in the huddle and the teammates like, yeah, yeah, just
what's the play. He's like, it doesn't matter what the
play is. And he goes over to Arian Smith eighty two.
He's like, Arion, excuse my French. I want you to
run as fast as you fucking can't, Buddy, Okay, that's
the play, all right, break and then he just pump
fake who it just chucks it because something that's going
to happen. PI potentially or a long ball for a touchdown.
(59:07):
I agree that everyone's in the world that they can
run the football. I think the key app is doing
that and putting them on their te that's going to
back them up no matter what happens. I think, go ahead, Bob.
Speaker 2 (59:18):
We've talked about Glenn's similarities with Parcels.
Speaker 1 (59:22):
Sure.
Speaker 2 (59:23):
I would like to see Glenn be similar in his
approach to Lombardy and that is, here's here's what I'm
going to do. Stop me, because I think that's the
kind of offense and that that he wants to run.
They went the whole offseason and preseason running the ball. Now, yeah,
(59:46):
they do have to throw the ball at the right times,
but I think he's going to dare the Steelers to
stop him.
Speaker 1 (59:53):
But there will be nothing more demoralizing than say, hey, hey, buddy,
lean across the line of scrimmage. We're going to run
it right here. Okay, be ready, and you run it nothing. Okay, Well,
we're gonna run it right here. Nothing, all right, all right,
all right, now, we're gonna run it here. Nothing.
Speaker 6 (01:00:09):
And then Paul.
Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
It works in the movies all the time. That's true,
So it will. But that there'd be nothing more tomorializing
than that. They say we're running football team, We're gonna
punch in the face, and they go nothing punt that
that would be. That would be tough. But obviously that's
going to be. Like I said, the tone and everything.
I don't think me you are disagree with that, But
(01:00:32):
I think those shots can really back people up, especially
since everyone's anticipating run, run, run, run all over the place.
But we'll do it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
Can It can also back you up onto your own
one yard line, that's you.
Speaker 9 (01:00:43):
One quick thing.
Speaker 7 (01:00:44):
I wanted to mention about the match Noll situation. I
haven't I haven't let that go.
Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
You know, don't let don't let go of it. Help
Let's keep trying to find ways to make it happen.
Speaker 7 (01:00:55):
I've been watching Jake Jake's show, and I think the
key is to get Jake and other people have been
calling in. I saw a couple of super chats mentioning
Matt and one and he did mention. He said, Jake,
just say he goes. Yeah, I believe we should bring
him back.
Speaker 11 (01:01:11):
He goes.
Speaker 7 (01:01:11):
But it's not Woody's fault.
Speaker 10 (01:01:12):
I mean, he really didn't do the thing.
Speaker 7 (01:01:14):
Come on, Yeah, so I don't think I don't think
he really understands, you know, I think he I think
he should call up Jake, you should Bob and tell
him and say this is the plan.
Speaker 9 (01:01:27):
I mean, you inherit the super Bowl.
Speaker 7 (01:01:28):
You wear that around your neck like a trophy, right,
so you you know you also inherited Matt Snelsky.
Speaker 2 (01:01:34):
If Jake really did see it, did say that this
is not what he's fault that, would you know that.
I'm shocked that Jake would say that because he is
such a devoted longtime Jets fan. I mean obviously not
if one he's me, Yeah, but he just you know,
he wears the green and it's his whole life and
(01:01:57):
his whole business he around that, and it has nothing
to do with whether wood he is guilty of it
or not. It's what good he wood He can do.
Speaker 6 (01:02:06):
That's the thing.
Speaker 7 (01:02:07):
Yeah, I think he doesn't understand what what Woody can do.
And I think you got to give him the four one.
Speaker 1 (01:02:12):
On yeah, a show or Bob or something like hep said,
and then maybe you could just be able to you know,
sort of spiel or the key.
Speaker 7 (01:02:20):
Is the key is rich Eisen, because rich if rich
Eisen he has the Irachising's ear. If he does, Rich
Eiesen and rich Isen he goes, look, I got a
great story for you, Rich, Let's bring back Matt's now home.
Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
Let's bring him back home.
Speaker 6 (01:02:33):
This is how we can do it.
Speaker 10 (01:02:34):
Hey, that might be a great idea.
Speaker 2 (01:02:36):
Let me talk to you.
Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
So we've got to convince Jake, right.
Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
Yeah, it's Mike. It's Mike Greenberg too.
Speaker 3 (01:02:41):
Oh, Mike Greenberg too.
Speaker 1 (01:02:42):
Oh Greenie sure yeah. And both of them are old
enough that they have sort of the standing that I
think is required here. I don't think I'm trying to
think of a good example of a forty something year
old Jets man. It's not coming to mind. But you know,
rich Eisen and Greenie just have the standing that they've
been around forever, the old.
Speaker 10 (01:02:59):
Timers like me one hundred percent of the problem.
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
But the problem is the season starting, and the season
is going to be.
Speaker 1 (01:03:04):
It's gonna it's gonna wash. I agree.
Speaker 7 (01:03:08):
However, if if things start to dip and we don't,
if we have a if we don't do is great,
and then we come down, there will be a time
where we can get it in.
Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
I'm sure.
Speaker 7 (01:03:16):
But anyway, I'm still pulling, Bob.
Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
You got a lot of calls, Have.
Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
A great weekend, enjoy the game on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
There you go. Yep, all right, we again. We have
a ton of phone calls. We'll get to all you guys,
I promise. So I'm just gonna keep going in order
here and giving seniority to who called first. So up
next in that conga line is Indie Jets Indy, what's
up happening morning Indy?
Speaker 4 (01:03:40):
Good morning Bob, Good morning BD.
Speaker 6 (01:03:42):
Hey.
Speaker 4 (01:03:43):
First of all, yeah, you know, I really wanted to
come on after a line that wasnchel, you know. And
the difference and I'm gonna tell you the difference between
a line and every single person on this chat, including YouTube. Okay, Now,
we all have our predictions, you know, of what whether
whether we're going to be zero and three going into Miami,
(01:04:04):
whatever the predictions are. The difference is a lot hopes.
Speaker 2 (01:04:08):
That we lose, and none of us we can.
Speaker 4 (01:04:11):
We might sit here and think that. And he said it,
He actually said it in the chat. I got the screenshot.
He hopes the Jets lose. Now, that's the type of
fan that that that that Alan is and that he
that he literally hoped the Jets lose, not that we
all can predict, and we can all think that, hey,
(01:04:33):
we may not be very good, we may only win
six games. That's all fine. None of us hope that
we're going to lose, though. We're not going into the
Steelers game going, Man, I hope Aaron Rodgers just waxing
nods on us out Alan, Does I mean he won't
the Jets to lose this year?
Speaker 2 (01:04:49):
Yeah, you're correct, you know that hopes I have. I'm
is when they get to Game fifteen and they need
a really good draft pick to get that quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:05:02):
We're not talking about that kind of stuff. We're talking
about the beginning of the season.
Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
About the whole season. Yeah, yeah, I were talking.
Speaker 4 (01:05:08):
About the beginning of the season that Alan wants this
team to lose. What do you think I can't.
Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
I want a real QB is his response to you. Indeed,
I want a real QB.
Speaker 4 (01:05:18):
Right, And we all know throughout the throughout the history
of the quarterback drafts, that is the crapshoot. Sure, you know,
nobody would have predicted Tom Brady as the sixth round
pick to be you know, uh seven time Super Bowl,
you know, winner six time whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:05:36):
It was alot, by the way, contests that he said,
I hope we lose. He says, when I've got the.
Speaker 4 (01:05:41):
Screen, I've got the screen shot, so I will I will,
I will dig it out and find it. He did
say hopefully we lose. And I called him out several
times and he refused to answer me.
Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
If you have the screenshot, let me know. We will
present that evidence on the screen.
Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
Yes, And so you know, how many games? How many
games do you think is he going to win this year?
Speaker 4 (01:06:01):
I still say I'm at ten plus?
Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
Really? Wow? Okay, wow, okay, you know I really respect
your acumen.
Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
Well.
Speaker 4 (01:06:11):
And and you know, also when when Alan was talking
about his original prediction of the score for Pittsburgh was
thirteen seventeen, I believe correct, and we and we and
with the with the with the loss of AVT, he
changed that to a double digit score. Now you're telling
me that, and we all like AVT. But when you
(01:06:34):
break it down, AVT was ranked fifteen. You know, we
we go buy rankings. You know, PFF does a great
job of ranking players. AVT was ranked fifteenth as the
right guard. Okay, he was the fifteenth with his average
Joe Tipman as with his blocking was ninth, was ranked
ninth as a center. So now he's moving over. So
(01:06:56):
did we really lose a lot going from Timan to
right guard? We lost probably more going to Josh Myers
being a center than I lost.
Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
More than anything, what we lost at right guard is
the the relationship that Tipman and our right tackle now
have to begin with each other. Because one of the
things I really learned from my book is how important
it is for you to know exactly what the guy
(01:07:28):
to the left of you and the guy to the
right of you can do and what they can't do,
so you're prepared mentally and instinctively to respond to situations rather.
Speaker 4 (01:07:38):
Than Also why Aaron Glenn has rotated Titman to right
guard and left guard throughout practice, correct, I mean, that's
what he's done, Josh Myers. That's why there's a battle
for center. There was never a battle for center. The
battle was is we've got to keep Titman available because
(01:07:59):
we know one of the two guys is probably going
to go down.
Speaker 6 (01:08:02):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (01:08:02):
And he just knew it, and so he continued to
use Tipman at right guard and left guard to get
him used to well. He may have to go over
and be by Mamboo. He maybe he may have to
go over to aunt uh. And so they've already started
building that relationship just through practices. And that's why they
brought in you know, they they brought in this uh
(01:08:25):
Josh Meyer to have it supposedly a competition. It was
never a competition to be center. It was setting it
up so we don't have to go to a second
strint guard. We just moved Tipman over and he's already
got the familiarity.
Speaker 2 (01:08:38):
And it's for it to be a smooth transition.
Speaker 4 (01:08:41):
Right, And so they've already been practicing that. It's not
like it's something that we have to bring in Max Mitchell,
God forbid, you know, and so absolutely that you know
that they've already been preparing for for for this And
as far as Abt goes, look, you know, we we
(01:09:01):
can love great guys as a person, you know, as
a leader, but if you're not on the field, you're
not on the field. You know, he's had he said,
you know, this is this will be his third third
season where he's not going to you know, complete a
season he's only completed.
Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
Yeah, I got the city here. This is in my
article that's coming out in like twenty minutes. But so
when you consider obviously he's going to miss this entire season,
this is the number I'm about to say the games
missed across five years in the NFL, and that is
this And I wish his nugget wasn't true. He will
have missed forty two games across his five years in
(01:09:42):
the league. That's a lot of games. That's that's two
plus seasons.
Speaker 4 (01:09:47):
You know, you could have Bo Jackson on your team,
but if he's only going to play three or four
games a year, what good does it really do you?
So you know, I'm not I don't an ABT. You know,
I've heard people say, well, we were at seven games
with the loss of a v T. Now they're going
to drop our wins down to five. Is av T
(01:10:08):
going to get us two wins if he's in that game.
Is he actually going to be the difference maker in
two games? Probably not, And especially since especially since.
Speaker 2 (01:10:21):
The show, I think they are going to get another
very reliable guard or offensive lineman. If you lost, I
believe I believe that that Moodie's going to do that.
I really do.
Speaker 4 (01:10:34):
If I lost Garrett Wilson. I can see that win
lost total being affected. If you know, if you if
you lost brace Hall and and Braylan Allen, I can
see the win loss total. You look, you lose Sauce
in Quinn and I can see the win totals being
affected by players like that A B T who is
an average guard in the NFL. Even when he does play,
(01:10:55):
he's still just an average guard. There's there's nothing that
he does great. You know, he's not We're not talking
like Quenton Nelson here, He's not. He's not in the
top tier of right guards. So how does an average
guards now say we're going to lose a few more
games because of the loss of him. It doesn't make sense.
The math doesn't mask. I got one more question for you,
(01:11:18):
BG before I get off here, as Nick Ferry already
called and canceled for Monday, you know, because I know
that he does not want to hear how great Jalen
Hurts played last night.
Speaker 1 (01:11:32):
As far as I know, I've not received a text
yet from Nick Fluri from last night.
Speaker 4 (01:11:36):
So yeah, you know, because you know, I think that
what what Jalen did last night is very similar to
what we will see with justin.
Speaker 1 (01:11:46):
Fields passing sixty yards rushing.
Speaker 4 (01:11:50):
Yeah, I mean that's what everybody is actually expected out
of justin fields. Right, We're not going to pass the ball.
We're going to run the ball. He's going to run
the ball, Isn't that What we've been talking about for
the last two months is exactly what Jalen Hurts did,
is what justin what everybody expects justin fields to do.
Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
Hey, I just hope he's that efficient. Again, I think
Hurts was not. I don't have it up anymore, but
nineteen of twenty three or something like that. So, hell,
I hope he's that accurate. That would be terrific.
Speaker 4 (01:12:17):
And most of his passes were the tight ends. You know,
it's two wide receivers. It's two big time wide receivers
bought four balls.
Speaker 6 (01:12:26):
Yeah, you know A. J.
Speaker 4 (01:12:27):
Brown had one target and and help me out here
that the other wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (01:12:37):
DeVante three.
Speaker 4 (01:12:40):
You know that's pretty diff.
Speaker 6 (01:12:43):
That is that.
Speaker 4 (01:12:45):
Yeah, you're telling me that those two guys could only
get four targets. Uh, you know, I just but there again,
that's what everybody expects justin fields to be. And so
if he rushes for two touchdowns and we and and
we don't pass for any but we still win the
ball game. That's the kind of games that we're going
to be hit. You know, I think our defense will
(01:13:07):
play better than either one of those two defenses last
night in the first half.
Speaker 2 (01:13:13):
Holy in terms of elusiveness and getting out of out
of the pocket and into open spaces. Hurts is probably
as close to what Fields is as anybody in the
league is.
Speaker 4 (01:13:26):
Yeah, and it hurts our Fields is probably just a
little bit faster.
Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
Yeah, the difference is the differences.
Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
But we'll see, Hey, when there was a point, let's
just remember this for I see a lot of people
don't like these Jalen Hurts justin Fields conversions. But if
you go back to Jalen Hurts playoff game against Tampa Bay,
it was his first or second year, he was awful.
He couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. And I'm like,
oh my god, Eagles are clearly going to be looking
(01:13:58):
for a quarterback, and they were patient and quarterback development
and everything else, and then he ultimately became this this
this near borderline MVP last season that he had all
these crazy numbers where he was in Super Bowl MVP
and all those other things like that. He was in
that conversation with and then that Chiefs game the Super
Bowl they lost. He was very good too. He was
(01:14:20):
able to go from there to there, so they were
able to turn it around.
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
So you know they didn't.
Speaker 4 (01:14:24):
You know, that wasn't necessarily a jail and hurts thing.
That was the Eagles having one of the best offensive
lines in the league. Sure they bring in they bring
in it. You know, they've got two very good wide
receivers and then they bring in a Saquon Barkley who
had a tip on his shoulder last year. You know
from what the Giants did doing. So you surrounded a
(01:14:46):
guy with them, You surround any any decent quarterback with
a great offensive line, two great wide receivers, and a
good running back. Now, now tell me, is that not
the recipe for success?
Speaker 1 (01:14:59):
Let's hope.
Speaker 11 (01:15:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:15:01):
So I don't know. I mean, Fields doesn't have the
same talent around him, but this year he has more
talent around him this year than he's had ever in
the NFL. We can't argue that point.
Speaker 11 (01:15:15):
I concur.
Speaker 4 (01:15:17):
And so could he put up very similar numbers? Absolutely?
Why couldn't he?
Speaker 1 (01:15:23):
Let's see, I think the key for just will be
staying healthy. That's something he has not proven to be
able to do at this level. I hope he can
and if he can put up those numbers.
Speaker 4 (01:15:33):
Bob, you know I appreciate you coming in on every Friday.
We look forward to it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
You should see what I look like at five point
thirty in the morning when I get up to get
ready for this.
Speaker 4 (01:15:41):
Yeah, right, right. And did Bob say he was coming
to the game.
Speaker 2 (01:15:47):
Not no, I said, I said, at some at some point,
I've got to come east and and meet all you
guys and actually go to a Jets game, which I
haven't done since. I can't even remember the year, but
I moved here in nineteen eighty three, so I know
it hasn't been since nineteen eighty three.
Speaker 4 (01:16:04):
Well, you know I went to.
Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
I went to a game when they played the Bears here.
That's it. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:16:11):
Yeah, Week five would have been a really good choice
to make this year. You should have just come to
New York Week five. I hear there's something special going
on it.
Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
Yeah, there's some some food fest or something going on.
Speaker 4 (01:16:22):
Yeah, I don't know, some music fest or something. Maybe
next year about it, maybe maybe something. But anyway, I
need that I.
Speaker 2 (01:16:30):
Need that jersey. Everybody was promising.
Speaker 1 (01:16:33):
Me that's true. The what is it called the rivalry
rivalry jersey. We'll see if that is indeed coming up
in the cards. We have a lot of phone calls.
Let's get to a couple of super chats coming through here.
Backwoods aren't cool with a twenty dollars super chat coming
in here. Very nice that a six raffle tickets for
our contest. Well, I just got a head coaching job. Congratulations,
(01:16:57):
Backwoods aren't cool, and I'm very excited to be able
to get back to my Jets. Run the ball, rpo
them into submission them damn Georgia quarterbacks, Google CJ Seipher
give them Georgia boys a chance. So yes, Justin Fields
his original roots as that Georgia quarterback before he ended
up at Ohio State. So backwards. Arn Cole, congratulations on
(01:17:18):
the h C gig. Love it. And hey man, I
think we're all excited to get back to Jets football.
So that's that's gonna be quite a charm. I can't wait,
so beautiful. Thank you for that, and I see you
sent in another super chat back with jarn Cole a
five dollars Superjet. Thank you very much. Stop disrespecting the
Georgia quarterbacks. Let him cook. We see if they will
(01:17:40):
here back with jarn Cole. By the way, you have
eight total Raffle tickets for our contest. Thank you so
much for your super Chat combinations, my friend, I'll update
the banner here in short order.
Speaker 2 (01:17:50):
All right, that was like matt Ryan. He was a
Georgia quarterback, wasn't.
Speaker 1 (01:17:54):
It Boston College. Actually he's a Boston College guy, Matty Ice,
Matty Ice. But yeah, Matthew Stafford, Georgia quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
There is pretty I think he's been pretty good.
Speaker 6 (01:18:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
Yeah, two thousand and nine draft with that Sanchiz draft.
Very nice. All right, let's go to the phone lines
up next in order is in the full Jet Skiar
fail Phil ninety eight.
Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
Oh yeah, I tell you yesterday and I said, boy,
he never calls in here is Well.
Speaker 12 (01:18:22):
The reason I'm calling in again so soon is Paul.
You asked about a poem, which I you know, got
me thinking I hadn't updated the Jets coaching poem and
I thought it might be something that Bob, being the
historian that he is, might appreciate. Sure, so if if
you would indulge me. Some may have heard this before,
(01:18:46):
but I wrote this poem, Bob, twenty five years ago
when ourselves took the Jets to the AFC title game, remember,
and it was the week before the Denver game. And
as you remember, Mike Francessor was friends with Parcels and
people were calling in with all kinds of stuff. So
(01:19:07):
I wrote this homage to Parcels, and if the Jets
had won that game, I was going to call in
and ask him to let me read it. And of
course they lost to the Broncos. So that's what the
first part of this is that after I did this
and read it on this show, which I'd never shared
it publicly with anyone for twenty five years, I was
encouraged to pick it up from there. So I wrote
(01:19:29):
part two. So if you we're not further Ado, here
we go, Bob.
Speaker 1 (01:19:35):
There you go. Here's Stilliam right here. Okay, here we go.
Speaker 12 (01:19:39):
I remember the days of Broadway Joe, and the last
time the Jets were in the Big Show. He and
Web like Muhammad Ali, shook up the world and made history.
After Super Bowl three, the future was bright. The Jets
throttled up and seemed ready for flight. The decade ahead
proved to be quite confusing. No matter who coached, the
(01:20:01):
Jets kept on losing. It was the end of an era.
We said goodbye to Joe. We saw coaches come, and
we saw coaches go. Between you Bank and Michael's. There
were a few names, but none that were known for
winning football games. In the early eighties. We did have
some fun in a strike shortened season. We had a
(01:20:21):
good run, but a title game loss in the Mud
to the Finns pushed Walt Michaels out and brought Joe
Walton in. He had fits and starts and disappointments galore
till we screamed, Joe must go. We can't take any more.
Bruce Koslet brought youth an exuberant juice, but four years
(01:20:44):
later we cut Bruce loose. Pete Carroll had one year
to plan his attack, but a December swan song led
to him being sacked. Co Tit's two seasons were filled
with such pain it physically hurts me to mention his name.
He lost twenty eight and won only four and brought
(01:21:05):
the Jets to a low like never before. Then in
came the man with the Grand Master Plan, and he
vowed to turn things around for Jets fans. Things started
changing the day he got here, and we won the
division in his second year. Of all the great coaches
that history tells, there is none finer than Bill Parcells.
(01:21:27):
If he takes a third team to the Super Bowl Game,
they should build him a wing in the Hall of Fame. Now,
I've just won more. Wish that on Super Bowl Night
the Empire State Belt with green light.
Speaker 2 (01:21:43):
Frame it and put it in Woody's office.
Speaker 1 (01:21:45):
That's it, Tilliam. Yes, baby, I've asked and you have delivered.
I love it.
Speaker 12 (01:21:55):
For part two.
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
Yeah, yeah, that's great, and not just because everything that's true.
Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
That's pretty good. All right, go ahead, please fill him.
Speaker 12 (01:22:04):
Bill Belichick dogged us and went to the Pats and
Jets fans will never forgive him for that. We let
that be known. He heard our years, then went on
to screw us for the next twenty years. A reluctant
al grow didn't want to be here, so he left
to coach college the following year. Herm Edwards a man
(01:22:27):
of exceptional class, and if I were to meet him,
I would raise up my glass. Although he didn't get
us to the promised land, I'd offer him praise and
extend my right hand. We will always remember when we
heard him exclaim, hello, you play to win the game.
Then an aura of magic at next year's camp, as
(01:22:50):
though conjured from Aladdin's lamp, like we rubbed that lamp
to see what appeared. And that's how our Manginie got here.
With smoking mirrors, Mangenius was created, or so the New
York media stated. But a collapse with five in two
thousand and eight sent Eric packing to the Mistake by
the Lake from an NFL family, three coaches in all,
(01:23:16):
with a preference for the defensive side of the ball,
a culture change I will never forget. It was a
prideful thing to play like a jet. He made us
believe we could have nice things and defiantly refused to
kiss any rings. But after six years his act had
grown tired, and in twenty fourteen, Rex Ryan was fired.
(01:23:40):
Mangini and Rex share a very strange feeling. They lost
lots of weight, yet became less appealing. A somber and
stoic Todd Bowles came to town. There wasn't much reason
to keep him around, but after hiring Adam gase I
guess you could say bulls had a case a ridiculous
(01:24:06):
man with big crazy eyes. Thanks a lot, Peyton Manning,
you recommended this guy. After thirty two games, Gase was
out on his can and we turned our attention to
a guy from San fran A defensive coordinator known for
his fire. Most acknowledged it as an excellent hire. He
(01:24:27):
loves his cliches, all gas and no brakes, but held
no one accountable for making mistakes. Although his defense, his
defense brought opponents a level of fear, his offense was
stuck in a single gear. The side show created by
old Number eight and an impulsive owner sealed his fate.
(01:24:49):
Instead of Woody Woody hiring the coach of his dreams,
the process was handled by the thirty third team. An
extensive search yield the name of a player who's coached,
whose coach is in the Hall of Fame. A par
sales disciple from way back when Welcome back to New York,
(01:25:10):
mister Aaron Glenn.
Speaker 1 (01:25:12):
Wow, very nice, Billiam Or as we're supposed to do,
I guess in poem Land. Oh yeah, how.
Speaker 2 (01:25:22):
Long have you been a Jets fan?
Speaker 13 (01:25:24):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (01:25:25):
Since the mid sixties?
Speaker 2 (01:25:27):
Wow, so you well so you were you were I
was watching the Super Bowl.
Speaker 12 (01:25:33):
Yeah, so I have vague memories of my dad being
excited by the Super Bowl, but don't really remember it.
Speaker 14 (01:25:39):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:25:42):
Have you watched it on YouTube?
Speaker 12 (01:25:44):
Oh yeah, I've seen that. I've seen it many many times.
Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
Yeah, yeah, wow. You the thing about the game on Sunday.
Getting back to to Rogers and such, I was reading
up this week about Aaron Glenn's previous combats combats with
with Aaron Glen with Aaron Rodgers, and he always plays
(01:26:08):
Manda Man with Aaron Rodgers, and Aaron Rodgers has very
little success in the four games that he played against
Aaron Glenn when he was the d C in Detroit.
In fact, he had very poor fifty fifty seven percent
completion average running against Detroit and and their man to
(01:26:30):
man defense. So that's one of the other things I
expect on Sunday because I think that's the Jet strength.
Speaker 12 (01:26:39):
Well, I agree, and you know, we've all put our
faith in Aaron Glenn and I'm somewhere between Alan and Indy.
You know, I'm hoping for an eight or nine one
season and steady improvement. That's that's what I expect. Honestly.
But I'm just like we all hope all a lot
(01:27:00):
is wrong. I hope I'm wrong. I hope we're sitting
here in December, you know, waving flags and talking about
the Promised Land.
Speaker 2 (01:27:07):
But I hope so too. But I just want to
see improvement from week to week, absolutely, because that is
going to what that will be what drives us to
a better overall season. I mean, your chances against Buffalo
are still going to be rather limited, and you know
Dallas is going to be challenged. I mean, you saw
last night how good their defense can be, but especially
(01:27:31):
when you're they're defending against Barkley. You only had maybe
the best running running back season last year of.
Speaker 1 (01:27:38):
Anybody chances without Michael Parsons though, so thank you Dallas.
Speaker 2 (01:27:43):
Well I know you will, but they were pretty stout
against Philadelphia's you know, running game, and well, anyway, you know,
statistics don't really matter. The only thing that matters is
the final score.
Speaker 12 (01:27:57):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (01:27:58):
You know.
Speaker 12 (01:28:01):
I know there's a lot of people that want to
call I really wanted to share that with you, Bob,
because as a frustrated writer, I have great respect for that.
My daughter's trying to get a book published. He's a professor,
an English professor, and I've always had great respect for
the written words.
Speaker 2 (01:28:16):
So you know what, you know what I did, which
is totally against the grain. I wrote three quarters of
the book before I found myself a publisher.
Speaker 1 (01:28:24):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:28:24):
And usually it's the other way around. You find a publisher,
you sell them on the idea, and then you write
the book. And the publisher was and my agent turned
out to woman. It turned out to be my agent.
They were a stunt. You've already written the book. I said, Yeah,
why do you do that? I said, well, what else
am I supposed to do? We're supposed to get a
publisher first, And I said, but I want to be
able to sell it to the publisher, and I want
(01:28:45):
to show them what I've got.
Speaker 1 (01:28:47):
So well, you were being showered with the wonderful compliments
for that poem, and I said it way back when,
and I say it now for anyone that chooses to
share their gifts here on air. You clearly have a
gift your failure. But we appreciate you Uh being able
to be vulnerable enough to share it, especially as it's
(01:29:08):
been a twenty five years in the vault. That's too
bad for the twenty five years of other people that
could have heard wonderful poems. But selfishly, I'm glad you
saved it for us.
Speaker 2 (01:29:16):
And and in the word of Paul's daughter, wow, yeah
very much, gentlemen, did nice job. Have a great weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:29:26):
Play Wait wait whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa?
Speaker 4 (01:29:27):
Before we go?
Speaker 1 (01:29:29):
What yourr we rocket here?
Speaker 6 (01:29:31):
Huh?
Speaker 1 (01:29:31):
Who do we got? Let me let me go.
Speaker 2 (01:29:34):
This is one of my favorites.
Speaker 13 (01:29:35):
Man.
Speaker 12 (01:29:36):
This this is Mangol.
Speaker 11 (01:29:38):
I love Mangol.
Speaker 1 (01:29:39):
Oh yeah, baby, yes, okay, beautiful, okay, just.
Speaker 12 (01:29:42):
So, I actually saw Bob's hat and I was like,
I think I got the same one.
Speaker 1 (01:29:47):
Yeah you do? Yeah, see yep, yep, we got the
same hat. There again they.
Speaker 2 (01:29:51):
Told me no returns.
Speaker 1 (01:29:53):
Well.
Speaker 12 (01:29:55):
Oh and by the way, Bob, that that logo behind
me there, that was it. That's for in the late sixties,
and it was it was in my father's den and
when he passed, when he passed away, it was the
only thing I asked my mother for.
Speaker 2 (01:30:07):
Wow, ad vintage.
Speaker 1 (01:30:09):
Yeah, so touching. I love that, Filium, and I love
you sharing that. Thank you, Yeah, thank you, Phillium. I
appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
Enjoy the game. Sunday.
Speaker 1 (01:30:18):
There you go, and come on, you know, wow, that
was there was a movie.
Speaker 2 (01:30:23):
Got to find a really important and perfect place for
that poem.
Speaker 1 (01:30:27):
That's true. I'd love to and apparently it continues to
evolve because the Jets continue to give Filium new material
on a year to year basis with all of our
hard coachers. Hopefully this is the latest chapter for a while.
But all right, let's do this. We've got a ton
of phone calls. I want to get to all of
you again. We have over five hundred people in the room.
(01:30:49):
Like the video, hit subscribe one hundred and thirty six
and the five hundred are here on YouTube. If you're
watching on any other app, hop on over join the
growing army of the Boy Green Coffee Club and Boy
Green Daily YouTube dot com slash boy Green jew five.
We're trying to get to eight thousand subscribers, and like
I said, we're about fifty or sixty people away. If
we've got five hundred plus people in the room, I
imagine that math means there's fifty or sixty of you
(01:31:11):
out there that could hit that subscribe button. So join
the army. Maybe, all right, let's go to the phone
lines I believe hair and makeup has just finished up
with him, so he should be ready to go. Ah,
Philly Doodles is here to go.
Speaker 2 (01:31:24):
How you doing? Hey?
Speaker 1 (01:31:25):
You guys doing Friday?
Speaker 11 (01:31:27):
There we go pretty good. Hey.
Speaker 15 (01:31:30):
I want to say that that code type line was great,
and uh, the lin Jeanie and Rex losing weight and
just becoming more egregiously disgusting is great.
Speaker 1 (01:31:41):
He's just got so much good stuff and it's so
much that it's hard to appreciate each thing. So I'm
gonna have to listen back to this and get some
of it because it was so good.
Speaker 11 (01:31:49):
Yeah, Bob, I hope I win that book, dude.
Speaker 1 (01:31:52):
Yeah, so he wants to.
Speaker 12 (01:31:52):
We don't.
Speaker 2 (01:31:54):
If you don't, we'll buy it. I'll get it and
a really good process.
Speaker 11 (01:31:58):
It's gonna promise I'll like reveal it when I get it.
Speaker 14 (01:32:02):
But way so with Alan, I mean, I'm I'm hopeful,
but optimistically hopeful.
Speaker 11 (01:32:10):
But I'm like six to eight wins.
Speaker 14 (01:32:12):
Uh, eight would be sweeping the Fins, beating the Falcons
to me, if it could beat the Falcons, and you know,
they really could go on a winning stick at the end,
just losing maybe to the Bills. I have bills straight up.
Speaker 1 (01:32:27):
But yeah, back there, there's a lot of winnables.
Speaker 11 (01:32:30):
Yeah, so it is better.
Speaker 2 (01:32:31):
I mean, you know, it's hey if you don't have
optimism at this point before the kind and if you're
a Dallas fan, you have to wait ten days until
you can play again to get that first win.
Speaker 11 (01:32:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (01:32:47):
So I shared something with BGG if you want to
pull it up without being spit on. I was spit
on at work without the help from Jalen Carter. My
job needed me to paint the walls I work, and
this is the color I had to paint throughout the week.
You like, just imagine black and black and yellow. I'm like,
you gotta be kidding me, Bro, I'm like of the week.
(01:33:10):
I wore my Jets polo when I finished it.
Speaker 1 (01:33:12):
Yes, yeah, I was just about saying, did you walk out?
Did you say like enough is enough?
Speaker 11 (01:33:16):
Like what I was actually tempted to, like stencil in
the Jets somewhere.
Speaker 2 (01:33:21):
Yeah, right on Sunday night. You go in there and
you paint it all green.
Speaker 1 (01:33:25):
Oh there there.
Speaker 11 (01:33:27):
If I get fired on something, that would be the
way to walk out.
Speaker 1 (01:33:30):
Yeah, there's no better way to walk out, and and
you lose your job that supports you and your family
than just get in your jets where you can't go.
Speaker 2 (01:33:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (01:33:38):
Yeah, that was torture over the past week. So I
mean it is what it is. So I'll leave you
guys with that. I know you got callers. Let's go Jets.
Speaker 14 (01:33:48):
Like I said, if we can emulate what happened with fields,
meaning throw under two hundred yards and still win the game,
I'll take it.
Speaker 2 (01:33:56):
You know, I'm really resting, resting my hopes. On number
one one of the UH one of the podcasts I
heard from from Pittsburgh was talking about how they really
expect Rogers to throw the ball all over the field
because that's what he loves to do and he's just itching.
And even though he says he doesn't have anything that
(01:34:17):
he really cares about as far as the Jets do,
I think Rogers wants to go in there and show
the Jets that they made a mistake and that could
really work to the jets favor.
Speaker 1 (01:34:28):
If Aaron wants to do that, please, I Oh, there's
nothing more than I would like than that forty one
year old decrepit body throwing fifty times against his Jets
pass rush and not only and I now know that
you know the line of we thought we got our
guy from the West coast and San fran You know,
William said, like you know, our front four will get there.
(01:34:49):
F that Steve Wilkes is gonna throw the kitchen sink,
your mama, my mama. They're gonna throw everybody at Aaron
Rodgers and Blitz's ass. And I hope they run this, Saint.
I haven't said this anywhere, but I'll say it here.
I hope they run that same Blitz package where you
where you where you bum rush the A gap, you
double gap up front, and then Aaron's like can can can,
and then all of a sudden you have a bail
(01:35:11):
and that pick. Because Aaron got that against Minnesota, he
got that against Seattle. He is begging the gods to
get intercepted on that play every time when you when
you double mug up the A gap and he thinks
it's something, and then you have your linebackers or defensive
lineman and Leonard Williams case bail immediately to that pop
screen and intercept it. I could totally see will McDonald
(01:35:33):
go into the his het or Jermaine Johnson for that matter,
has already done that before mug front, bail pick and
then get Aaron Rodgers like two other teams got us
last year. There'd be nothing sweeter.
Speaker 11 (01:35:44):
One thousand percent.
Speaker 14 (01:35:46):
He We're gonna see so many drop screen passes to
Warren it's not even funny, like I know, people, it's
gonna be like evident, like right, probably probably the first
scripted pass may be a screen pass to Jayalen Warren
without without a doubt anymore, don't it's gonna happen. It's
not the fact that he doesn't have any arm talent left.
(01:36:07):
It's the fact that he cannot be as mobile as
he used to be. So if he can get his
four yard dump to a twelve yard completion, they're gonna
take it and get you can.
Speaker 2 (01:36:16):
Get him to have to scramble to the left.
Speaker 4 (01:36:19):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:36:20):
You know that's also going to be a problem for
him because as strong as his arm is, you know,
that's not his strong side. As far as throwing the ball.
Speaker 14 (01:36:29):
We've said it, uh before the season is going to begin,
We've been saying if they show up week one, it
is a tone setter for us of the season because
it is the hardest front bookends you're gonna find in
the NF almost in the NFL.
Speaker 11 (01:36:42):
And if our two young men can hold up their
sides of the ball, on both sides, we'll be all right.
If those guys don't show up.
Speaker 2 (01:36:51):
Quick hitters, quick hitters, that's right.
Speaker 1 (01:36:54):
Appreciate your Philly Sure Philly Noodles Friday Special as always. Wow. Okay,
we got a ton of people trying to call into
the show. Of course, why wouldn't they, It's game week, baby,
And up next we mentioned this man. I mentioned it
when Alan said, hey, uh boy, Green, did you really
pick the Jets to win twelve games?
Speaker 12 (01:37:14):
Did you?
Speaker 1 (01:37:15):
And I went, well, I did. But you want to
know something, there's another Jet fan in our universe that
said the floor is twelve wins and that man is
d n Y for life Death joined us here on
the show. What's up? Brother?
Speaker 16 (01:37:29):
Good morning fellas, Good morning gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
I'll get a good night's sleep last night.
Speaker 16 (01:37:34):
Well, I had a great night sleep last night. I
woke up this morning and I.
Speaker 8 (01:37:41):
Have the opportunity to bring my daughter to school on
you know, my flex Friday off.
Speaker 16 (01:37:46):
So that was awesome. Sat in this damn parking lot
and my card that just got.
Speaker 8 (01:37:53):
Tuned up and it's a twenty twenty one and the
motherfucker won't start excuse my language, damn in here on
the toe, but it gets worse. I'm glad that I'm
able to call in. I haven't been able to. Like,
all of a sudden, my internet dropped, and I'm like,
I have like five bars, why is my internet dropping?
Speaker 16 (01:38:12):
Then it dropped, it wouldn't come.
Speaker 8 (01:38:13):
On, so I'm like, man, no, I'm gonna look like
I'm not gonna show up for this bet that Bob
proposed to me, which I don't know what it is,
but I'm like, man, this sucks, and I'm supposed to leave.
I'm supposed to leave to go to Jersey today, you know,
for the game. But we have another vehicle, so that's that.
So we'll be a believe is that one but if needed,
but hopefully this one gets taken care of before.
Speaker 6 (01:38:35):
I have to leave.
Speaker 16 (01:38:36):
So yeah, my morning has been awesome and not awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:38:39):
So well, first off, der wife for life, what let's
put your full screen here? What did that looks like?
A beautiful Jersey? Who do we got?
Speaker 6 (01:38:48):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (01:38:48):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:38:51):
Coming? Yeah?
Speaker 9 (01:38:54):
Baby?
Speaker 16 (01:38:55):
Yeah, that's right, that's right.
Speaker 8 (01:38:58):
That's what's gonna carry us, That's what's gonna And I've
decided I'm wearing my JJ jersey to the game on
Sunday because the defense is gonna carry us.
Speaker 2 (01:39:10):
There.
Speaker 16 (01:39:11):
The defense is gonna carry us, and JJ is going
to do things that no one thinks that he is
capable of.
Speaker 6 (01:39:17):
All of this.
Speaker 16 (01:39:19):
It's gonna take a year to heal back from the Achilles.
I don't think that.
Speaker 2 (01:39:23):
I think this guy is gonna be different.
Speaker 16 (01:39:24):
He reminds me a little bit of.
Speaker 8 (01:39:27):
A Remember when Adrian Peterson came off as acl surgery
and everybody's like, oh, it's gonna take a year for
him to recover. Then he ran for like two thousand yards.
I got like, I feel like JJ is in that
same vein, and uh, it's happening. What's happening, Bob? But
how you guys doing?
Speaker 16 (01:39:44):
How you doing today?
Speaker 12 (01:39:44):
Bob?
Speaker 16 (01:39:45):
Are you doing this morning?
Speaker 4 (01:39:46):
I like you?
Speaker 2 (01:39:47):
I'm I'm I'm a little bit itchy about the game Sunday,
Although though the real positive thing for me is because
I'm in the Central time zone, game starts at twelve,
I have less time to wait than you do.
Speaker 1 (01:39:56):
Yeah, that's true. You get there faster that's the math
of it, I believe.
Speaker 2 (01:40:00):
Yeah, I must say one thing and still be ready.
Speaker 16 (01:40:05):
I'm gonna just interject this real quick.
Speaker 2 (01:40:07):
You could do what he wanted it.
Speaker 16 (01:40:09):
I'm not one. I mean, I'm a solution oriented person.
Speaker 8 (01:40:12):
So I just think of like, when there's a situation
and I don't care for I just create a solution
for it because I don't believe in whining. You know,
I'm an achiever, believe in goals and setting them and
achieving them. Yeah, I'm gonna tell you. I almost when
my NFL I was kind of good because I was like,
you know what, I can't listen to alone. I don't
I don't enjoy anything about him. I don't enjoy.
Speaker 16 (01:40:35):
I don't enjoy. I literally do not enjoy an i
yota of anything.
Speaker 2 (01:40:40):
He says.
Speaker 8 (01:40:40):
I don't understand how that person can claim to be
a Jets fan and never say anything that is positive.
Speaker 2 (01:40:50):
Like I just I just don't.
Speaker 4 (01:40:51):
I can't.
Speaker 16 (01:40:52):
So I can't listen to that.
Speaker 1 (01:40:53):
So you do chat, by the way, So let's give
a shout out here to leave van appreciate it, he says, Marshall.
Fuck all on, yeah, fuck all on here.
Speaker 8 (01:41:08):
Yeah, Wow, it's the season opener. Man, it's our season opener.
This is the beginning of the season. You know, it's
like the worst curmudgeting time to freaking call and it's like,
you know what I mean, like you gotta have a
whole like we could we could have speculations and say,
you know, we we expect the five win season, six
win season.
Speaker 6 (01:41:25):
That's fine.
Speaker 8 (01:41:26):
I don't have an issue with that, right because we
don't know what to expect, but just to okay anyhow,
I'm that's enough finagy on that because and.
Speaker 2 (01:41:34):
He made this like he made this feelings like world beaters.
Speaker 8 (01:41:38):
Right right right, Well we'll see and then there will
be well, no, I'm not gonna do that, but I
do love I did call a caught a little piece
of Ndjet with my.
Speaker 4 (01:41:46):
Internet was coming back on.
Speaker 8 (01:41:48):
You know, I like Indie Jets so much, man, And
you know, initially Indie Jet, I was like, I don't
know if you're gonna be an asshole or not.
Speaker 16 (01:41:55):
But Indyjet has turned out.
Speaker 6 (01:41:56):
To be a really good dude.
Speaker 16 (01:41:58):
I love I love it. I love his positivity and yeah,
you know, I'm a little bit hurt by this AVT situation.
ABT going down hurts tremendously, man.
Speaker 8 (01:42:09):
I I hope we can our offensive line can recover enough,
but we're definitely gonna miss him to where I feel
like that's gonna be a significant loss because it was
just more of the intangibles of what he does. It's
just it's not seen, and I think that's what's gonna
(01:42:29):
be felt. But I think you made a great point too, Bob.
I think when you said that, you know this might
be an opportunity for us to sign AVT next year
because I don't you know what, again, I don't deal
with the negativity.
Speaker 16 (01:42:42):
I don't want so.
Speaker 8 (01:42:43):
Yes, it sucks that he got hurt, but he is
a when he plays, he's one of the best guards
in the NFL, pero. So if we could get some
sort of deal, I want to back up for him
as well, you know what I mean, get somebody that
could maybe come in. We could even maybe, you know,
give him another couple of years and then you know,
work someone in as well, so you have someone to
(01:43:04):
fill that void if he ever goes down again. But
I do, I do I would like to resign av T.
I think that would be pretty awesome. I love Avt, man,
I love.
Speaker 1 (01:43:15):
These good people and it just became a team captain
and all that. It's just cruel unusual punishment for a BT,
so that'd be wonderful, and you're a sneaky. The other
reason no one's talking about about the A B T
thing is that Max Mitchell just got a step closer
to the field. And you may say, what are you
talking about? Well, if ol moi wah gets a it
gets a you know, a cold, and he can't show up,
(01:43:37):
the next left tackle on the depth chart is Max Mitchell.
I would have loved the fact that ABT right, if
anything happened to Olu Moue wah uh a b T
could have jumped Elija Viraa tackle instead of Tucker, you
would have been alive ver tackle. He could have got
out there. Now it's Max Mitchell, so hopefully Max Mitchell.
Speaker 2 (01:43:55):
Max Mitchell. His rookie year was pretty decent out there
until the start Week one.
Speaker 1 (01:44:00):
I was at his first game, which I don't think
anyone had on the Bingo card, his fourth round pick
out of Luisi and A Lafayette going from rageing Cajun football,
the starting left tackle for the Jets against of Baltimore
Ravens in MetLife Stadium. But I was there and went
what in the world a cavalcade of injuries and everything
happened where Max Mitchell went from fourth round developmental tackle
(01:44:21):
maybe he'll see the field this year to boo yeah,
day one start. I'm like, oh god, so yeah, it's
been quite a journey for me.
Speaker 4 (01:44:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:44:27):
But he but he was pretty good for I can't
remember the exact number a game, but he is, you know.
But but then he had he had an undisclosed problem, yeah,
which is sucked.
Speaker 8 (01:44:41):
After that took all of his whatever superpower he had
before he came back from a black colt and it
just was terrible.
Speaker 1 (01:44:49):
Yeah, the blood clots took any of his football builty away.
It was it was space jam. It was terrible. I'm like,
oh god, well listen, our.
Speaker 2 (01:44:56):
Little, our little gentleman's bet. Okay, the Jets, you know,
at six or seven wins and I think.
Speaker 10 (01:45:03):
You had twelve floor floor floor, Okay, so what.
Speaker 2 (01:45:11):
Do you want to do? You want to go you know,
plus or minus plus or nine or something like that.
Speaker 1 (01:45:18):
Well, if you're at five or six and he's at twelve,
the fair place.
Speaker 2 (01:45:21):
I'm trying to give.
Speaker 16 (01:45:22):
I'm trying to.
Speaker 2 (01:45:22):
I'm trying to give him a better a better chance
because I don't see twelve wins.
Speaker 1 (01:45:26):
Well, that's what I'm saying. Eight and a half. We're
going between your guys's two projections. That's plus on yours
and minus on his. That eight nine number seems like
a fair place. Yeah, yeah, eight and a half. Okay,
what's the bet? What's the bet here, Bob?
Speaker 2 (01:45:45):
Nothing, It's just it's just I don't bet bet. It's
just a gentleman's bet.
Speaker 1 (01:45:49):
Okay.
Speaker 16 (01:45:50):
And I got you, Bob.
Speaker 1 (01:45:51):
I got you, Bob, eight and a half. That's magic.
Speaker 2 (01:45:54):
And I you know what, I hope I'm wrong, as
I said earlier when I predicted the Jets do. But
I never get it. I never get it right.
Speaker 8 (01:46:02):
But Bob, but when we go, when we go over,
when we go, when we go over nine wins, okay,
when we go over nine wins, I don't know. I'm
gonna give you time because we got nine wins to
get to, right, I'm gonna give you time to think
about something that I that you can want for me
to do.
Speaker 16 (01:46:18):
But gentlemen's back, but every morning you come on in
here after the Jets have their ninth win the ninth win,
win number nine.
Speaker 6 (01:46:28):
When you come on here, I want you to say good.
Speaker 8 (01:46:30):
Morning, b g jay gee, Huts Juts Juts, and I
want all that passion right there by that.
Speaker 2 (01:46:40):
I do it in the house all the time, and
my wife says, what that are you doing?
Speaker 6 (01:46:44):
So we need?
Speaker 9 (01:46:45):
I need.
Speaker 16 (01:46:45):
I want to see it on here, Bob, and I'm
gonna see it all the bigger and all the passion that.
Speaker 2 (01:46:50):
You let me give you. Let me let me give
you a preview.
Speaker 1 (01:46:53):
Okay, okay, wait, let me go full screen. Here here go, Bob.
Speaker 17 (01:46:56):
Please say gee, yes, Juts, Juts, Jets, Yes, yes, Kevin,
all right, produce your team.
Speaker 1 (01:47:05):
Let's cut that. We'll add that to our video package.
Very nice, well done, Bob. Okay, we will add that the.
Speaker 8 (01:47:12):
Game after every win after nine, you have to come
on the next the next Friday, and that's your good morning.
Speaker 2 (01:47:19):
I hope, I hope I have to do it. I
hope I have to do it every week. Yeah, and
even I too, I have to spell jets correctly.
Speaker 1 (01:47:28):
You know, maybe raining defending Devin. The bet is on.
So again, to clear it up for everyone who's watching
and listening, DNY for Life is over of course on
the eight and a half, and Bob, you are under
on the eight and a half. We will see what
happens throughout the season. Gentlemen's bet, and you guys can
think of what you would want Devin to do if
(01:47:50):
somehow God forsaken the football got smite the Jets once
again and that happens.
Speaker 2 (01:47:56):
What you want Devin to do that it will come
down to game seventeen.
Speaker 1 (01:48:00):
Oh wow, God, that would be dramatic, that would be traumatic.
You know why? For life. I hope your your day
goes better, my friend.
Speaker 6 (01:48:07):
I appreciate.
Speaker 2 (01:48:10):
And then enjoy the game on Sunday.
Speaker 16 (01:48:12):
Thank you, fellows. Appreciate you guys.
Speaker 1 (01:48:14):
Let's go. We will have a watch party for those
who are curious the Jets Stealers game when that game's on,
about five or ten minutes before the game kicks off,
I'll have the game projecting over here. We tested it
out last night when I was on Rickey New York
Live show watching the Cowboys Eagles game. So I'll have
it projecting right here. I'll be in the studio and
we'll enjoy the game together. The phone lines will be
open and you guys can watch Jet Stealers with me
(01:48:35):
as I do play by play analysis of that game
on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:48:39):
That's that's chuper than an NFL Sunday ticket.
Speaker 1 (01:48:42):
There you go. You won't be able to watch it,
but you can hear my beautiful pipes and we'll see
where you go from there. All right, let's get a
few more phone calls in here. Actually, before I do that,
excuse me, let me get another membership being gifted from
our guy MFC. Here we go. Maybe you are in
the raffle for a personally autographed for everybody another reminder
(01:49:08):
here in a moment, by the way, that membership went
to Mizzo nine. Welcome to the Boy Green Coffee Club.
I appreciate you. And in case you guys missed it,
here's our prize pack for the month of September. We
have a random vintage Jets player T shirt plasts for
the past, a New York Jets sideline hoodie from last year,
one of a kind Jet Zone banner it has inside
the Jets stadium. It's a nice Jets banner. We have
(01:49:29):
a New York Jets polo and just added donated by Badshaw,
a personally personalized autographed copy of Beyond Broadway, Joe, the
Super Bowl team that changed football, whoever that winner is.
What will happen is is that we will reach out
to you and you tell us what you want Bob.
He will sign the book and say whatever you want
him to say in that book, and then we will
(01:49:50):
ship it to you. That is a new item that
is being added to the prize pool for the month
of September again. To be eligible, all I have to
do is spend three dollars on the channel. A boy
Green Coffee Club membership as EMBSC just did down below,
is three bucks. So that's the way to do it.
But you could do with supersticker, super chats and everything
in between. So good luck to all you guys out
there in the universe. All right, we got a couple
(01:50:11):
more calls to get to here, Bob. Up next is easy.
What's up, easy?
Speaker 14 (01:50:17):
Yo?
Speaker 6 (01:50:18):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (01:50:19):
Good morning?
Speaker 1 (01:50:19):
Easy on the show.
Speaker 18 (01:50:20):
Yeah, good morning, Bob, looking forward to getting your book.
You're going to the tailgate right now? Well, I'm what
I might do is I'm driving up. I might just uh,
it's on it's on the radio, right, I can.
Speaker 2 (01:50:37):
If you make a left turn and on your way
up from North Carolina, you go through Illinois and then
head east. You know, we could we could certainly meet up.
Speaker 18 (01:50:46):
Then not happen. But there were a couple of points
I wanted to make sure. Number one, I feel awful
for ABT, And I have a question. A trucep injury
is not a very common injury.
Speaker 6 (01:51:00):
For a player.
Speaker 18 (01:51:02):
I mean, you know, biceps and like the what is this,
the pecks, A lot of that can happen, but a
triceep and this is his second tricep injury, both on
each arm.
Speaker 6 (01:51:16):
Yeah, is there something maybe with his technique that is
hurting him.
Speaker 18 (01:51:23):
Maybe he's blocking in a certain stuff, maybe he's got
his arms too high or too low. I mean that
that's my first question because that is not a very
common injury at all.
Speaker 6 (01:51:34):
So I was curious to that. The second is.
Speaker 18 (01:51:40):
I think the Jets are probably going to be eight
nine wins, you know, because I think back to when
Sala first took over the Jets and he had that
they were what were they seven and three?
Speaker 6 (01:51:52):
Seven and four? And then the wheels fell off the
cart ye for some reason.
Speaker 1 (01:51:57):
Yeah, and that was with Zach.
Speaker 6 (01:52:01):
Now, this guy's way better than Zach.
Speaker 1 (01:52:03):
Mike White. Actually, yeah, Zach Wilson and Mike White.
Speaker 6 (01:52:05):
Yeah right.
Speaker 18 (01:52:07):
I mean we got way better quarterbacks than Zach and White,
and we got like the extra really good running back
in Allen. So now we have Brees and Allen. We've
got better tight ends now with Stone Smart and Mason Taylor.
And then I don't know how that new six foot
(01:52:29):
seven guy is, but all reports say he's not half bad.
And we still have Jeremy Rutgert. And I know Rutgert,
being from Lyndenhurst and being a Jet fan his whole life,
he doesn't want to go out, man.
Speaker 6 (01:52:41):
I know he doesn't. I know, you know, this is
for his dad's honor and everything.
Speaker 18 (01:52:46):
I think he's really going to try to pull his
shit together this year and really make a statement that
I am a local Jet fan and I want to
and I want my team to exceed.
Speaker 6 (01:52:55):
There are a lot of little extras going on here.
And now we have that really good.
Speaker 18 (01:53:01):
Guard that we picked up to me defensive tackle that's
going to be right next to Williams bull rushing in
the middle. And of course we got JJ back and
we got McDonald and I really think that the coaching
staff might have gotten into Michael Clements's head because he
is a physical specimen. If they could get through his
(01:53:23):
cloud whatever has been blocking him up, I think he
could be an impact player because he does have that nasty,
nasty chip on his shoulder.
Speaker 6 (01:53:31):
And I just looked forward to seeing him really try
to do something in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:53:36):
And little doubt about his football ability either. And when
I said there's no doubt about his football ability, it's
just it's.
Speaker 6 (01:53:44):
I think it's Sands with him.
Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
Yeah, just restraining his emotions, you know, get back to
Rcord for a minute. Record's got a real offensive line
coach this year.
Speaker 6 (01:53:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 18 (01:53:55):
Well, like I was saying, man, the coaching staff under
Salah except me maybe for Sala himself. Sala is a
great coach. I'm not going to take anything away from Sala.
But what Sala's mistake was being the head coach of
a football team is you have to notice if your
guys ain't cutting it, you got to have the balls
to fire them, you do.
Speaker 6 (01:54:17):
And the fact that he never fired Carter that was
a travesty.
Speaker 18 (01:54:25):
I think just by firing him and just putting somebody
else who was under him in charge would have made
a market difference. Because everyone says the team has the talent,
even what he Johnson said, it was the most talented
team that he ever fielded in his time as the owner.
Speaker 6 (01:54:40):
And it was just coaching.
Speaker 18 (01:54:43):
And that's where Sala being that what do you call
that the nice guy mentality hurt him because you know,
if Keith Carter was the coach under Bill Parcels, not
only would have Barcels fired him, he would have probably
buried him in the end zone. You know, Bill don't play,
so that was part of that problem. And here's my
(01:55:05):
third thing, how the hell do I get one of
them Gotham jerseys.
Speaker 6 (01:55:09):
I know some people hate them.
Speaker 18 (01:55:11):
I think they're absolutely bad ass. I like the diamond
plate that they have on the shoulder pads. I think
those are really cool jerseys. And I was looking for
them because and I can't see them in the jet shop.
So do you think they might be selling them at
the stadium because I'd really love to get one of
those jerseys. And I'm really not into those fancy, fancy jerseys,
(01:55:32):
but that's pretty That Gotham Jersey's pretty badass.
Speaker 1 (01:55:36):
Okay. Taylor Sterling just confirmed it September tenth, the Rivalry
jerseys drop to be purchased so five days away and
then you can buy them next week. I think they
look great, so I would buy one too, and maybe
I will sell a kidney to do it, because I
have a thousand jerseys in my closet. But I love
the jerseys. I think they look great.
Speaker 2 (01:55:53):
It's a good too.
Speaker 18 (01:55:54):
Maybe maybe we could maybe we could do like a
raffle at the tailgate. Everyone's pitching like three four bucks
because because it's gonna be with fifty people, everybody chipped
in three four bucks and that's a cover for the jersey.
Speaker 1 (01:56:09):
That's probably true. Yeah, then we can walk right over
to the gift shop and buy it.
Speaker 18 (01:56:13):
So yeah, yeah, I would love shit. Man, could you
imagine if that was their regular season jersey?
Speaker 6 (01:56:21):
Do you think? I mean, it's just so evil looking.
Speaker 1 (01:56:25):
I mean, I'm not ready to move on from the
jerseys we've just returned to you. I love those ones.
But yeah, we're gonna see it twice this year, so
I'm gonna love it when we do.
Speaker 2 (01:56:33):
To me, it looks like the a lot like the
Panthers jersey. The Panthers, no, because of the black.
Speaker 18 (01:56:43):
Yeah, but it kind of reminds you of if you
watch the you know the Batman movies, Gotham is Gotham
City was always like kind of dark and dark, green
and black and yeah, I mean emphasizes Gotham City.
Speaker 6 (01:56:57):
Yeah, real bad. Look I love it. I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:57:01):
Yeah, I think it looks great.
Speaker 6 (01:57:05):
So so anyway I think you.
Speaker 2 (01:57:09):
Do I do I wear the cap on Sunday before
the game? Or or no, do I wear Do I
wear shirt on Sunday for the game?
Speaker 1 (01:57:19):
Right now?
Speaker 6 (01:57:22):
Yeah, that's good. I just ordered from the jet shop.
Speaker 18 (01:57:26):
Like, like I told you, when I went up to
Jersey last month, I went to a couple of stores
I went to, like Dick's Sporting Goods and whatnot. Nobody
had a green hoodie with the with the with the
the with the eighties Jets logo, the one we have
now you know. So I just went to the Jets
(01:57:47):
jet shop and they were actually had him on sale,
green hoodie, uh with the with the Jets logo, with
the with the little jet plane on the top. So
I ordered that that should be here in a couple
of days, right, beautiful, So on the tenth, So the
tenth that Jersey's dropping on the.
Speaker 1 (01:58:05):
Tenth apparently that's what Taylor Sterling says, and I saw
something that they were coming out in a couple of days,
so that sounds right.
Speaker 18 (01:58:12):
So let's do the raffle for that at the tailgate,
and then if I don't win, I'm gonna buy the
damn thing.
Speaker 1 (01:58:19):
So it's a win win there you go. Well, yeah, yeah,
we'll see if we can put that together. Which, by
the way, I don't know if you guys know this,
I just just saying it. Today we are a month
away today from our Jets Cowboys tailgate beating. I don't
want to rush your process. I'm ready for Jets Steelers.
(01:58:40):
I don't want to rush to any of these games.
I'm gonna enjoy as we save with the flavor on
a week to week basis. But a month from today's
a Jets Cowboys tailgate, so I hope you guys are ready.
Speaker 18 (01:58:49):
The other thing is, if the Jets win the toss,
I don't want them to defer. I want to have
the ball first quarter and matriculate down the field all right,
and go up seven to nothing and then give the
ball to Rogers. This does two things. A it keeps
(01:59:10):
the ball out of Rogers hands a little longer.
Speaker 6 (01:59:13):
And b.
Speaker 18 (01:59:15):
If he feels that, oh, now the Jets have the lead,
I got to pass more. That'll just let us pin
our ears back and go. And I like the idea
that the other guy was saying about bull rush up
the middle and drop and drop the ends and coverage
and blitz the Linders and against Rogers quarterback. And this
(01:59:38):
is why the Giants were able to beat the Patriots
and the Super Bowls. Giants could get up the middle
with a four man rush and that was Brady's achilles heel.
He could not handle an up the middle rush.
Speaker 1 (01:59:51):
Yeah, so hopefully that could happen for Rogers. You're breaking
up there easy, but yes, we can't wait to see
you in a month. That'll be for the tailgate. For
people asking what I'm gonna be there, I'm gonna be
there as soon as we can get through the gates.
I will be there with Chef keV and shout out
to Louis, Superjets fan who's bringing the sprinter. It's gonna
be a lot of fun, very much looking forward to it.
(02:00:12):
We have another call to get to, but I also
want to say this. The next person that sends in
a ten dollars super chatter, greater We've got a special announcement,
a special surprise. So if you guys are watching on YouTube,
you see that money sign, hit the money sign and
gift a ten dollars super Chat or greater, and we
have a special surprise for you guys live here on
(02:00:32):
the show. Who knows, we just hit the two hour mark.
We got six hundred people in the six hundred people
in the room, so good Lord have mercy.
Speaker 2 (02:00:41):
Thanks, thanks everybody out there for you know, for being
so interested.
Speaker 1 (02:00:45):
Yeah, apparently all right, let's go to Johnny Boys next
year on the program's so Johnny.
Speaker 3 (02:00:50):
Morning, BG, Good morning Bob. Johnny guys are good after
that easy call?
Speaker 1 (02:00:55):
Oh boy, Yeah, it's a it's always a great adventure,
all of these death different things.
Speaker 3 (02:01:01):
So yeah, I hear that man six flags all day.
Speaker 1 (02:01:04):
Wait real quick, it just came in from for Lily
in Big d Go Jets with a twenty dollars super Chat.
So there's two things we immediately have to get here, Rah,
and we were able to do it before the end
of the show. The latest video package in the lineup
(02:01:26):
is this y E T.
Speaker 9 (02:01:28):
Yes juts jets jets Yes, Yeah, and I.
Speaker 1 (02:01:34):
Love that we have d N Wiper lives yet on
there as well. So the latest in the lineup?
Speaker 2 (02:01:38):
What na e t yes Juts Jets Jets. Yes, yeah, thanks,
thank thank goodness. My wife is having her hair done
and can't watch that.
Speaker 1 (02:01:50):
Okay, yeah beautiful. Well in case you missed it, one more.
Speaker 9 (02:01:53):
Day e t Yes Juts Jets Jets.
Speaker 2 (02:01:57):
Yes, yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:02:01):
Kids. So thank you Bob and thank you Blue for
the super chat. That is amazing.
Speaker 2 (02:02:06):
Send that too along with the poem I will do. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:02:09):
I think that's gonna be very moving. So yes, Johnny boy,
please go ahead.
Speaker 3 (02:02:13):
So shout out to philm Man. That was dope on
what he does.
Speaker 19 (02:02:17):
I love he gets on and uh, you know, start
spitting words like that, so shout them out real quick.
Speaker 2 (02:02:23):
So what do you think about Sunday and what do
you think about the season, Johnny?
Speaker 19 (02:02:27):
Yes, a couple of things. I think the rival jerseys
are trash. I don't like them. That's just my take
on that, right, that's my opinion.
Speaker 1 (02:02:37):
Wait, you think they're trash.
Speaker 3 (02:02:39):
I think they're trash. I don't like them.
Speaker 19 (02:02:41):
What Yeah, I don't like I don't like the fun
on them, I don't like the man whole look right,
I mean I could just see the memes start coming
out in regards to that.
Speaker 3 (02:02:52):
But that's just that's just my opinion.
Speaker 19 (02:02:53):
I was one of the guys I was rooting for
some type of like you know, smoke gray or or
something to that sense, a little bit something completely different, right,
that could have been something for us to be like, oh, snap,
you know this is this is a jet like the
jet after burner type of thing, right when you see
that gray smoke after us dusting people to whatever. But anyways,
(02:03:16):
I came on real quick because I just wanted to
talk a little bit about.
Speaker 3 (02:03:19):
The a VT.
Speaker 1 (02:03:20):
Yes, yes, of course so AVT.
Speaker 19 (02:03:25):
I feel bad for the guy, right, yeah, But at
the end of the day, and I'm gonna say it
with this, it's over, it's done with.
Speaker 3 (02:03:33):
We got to continue to keep moving forward.
Speaker 19 (02:03:36):
But I can't take the disrespect on a v T
as if this dude was a bump, because he was not.
Speaker 3 (02:03:46):
He was Wasn't he not a pro bowler with us
at one point.
Speaker 1 (02:03:49):
And I don't think he ever got that. But I
think the highest he ever was my brain's not working.
He was on the PFWA, which is a profa rids
of America all rookie team. That's the only thing he
ever made. So no Pro Bowls, no All Pros. But
just like from what experts say when they watched the
tapes and whoa in pockets, this guy was an All
(02:04:12):
Pro but again, just couldn't stay healthy enough of the
time for that to translate.
Speaker 3 (02:04:17):
And that's what I mean.
Speaker 19 (02:04:18):
I mean, I meant that is that people kept, you know, saying, hey,
this guy has all Pro caliber type of.
Speaker 3 (02:04:24):
Individual, blah blah blah. It just didn't happen.
Speaker 19 (02:04:27):
He was riddled with injuries and that's unfortunately what he's
going to be known for as a jet He if
he does come back, he needs to go somewhere else.
He needs to reset and get out of I mean, look,
I love AVT, man. I wanted Avt to be here
for the rest of his career and you know, build
a line together, like we were talking about the very
(02:04:49):
beginning of the season, that these guys meshed together and
build from there. But it's done right this upcoming weekend, Yeah, yep,
we have a chance to We need to win this
game first and foremost.
Speaker 3 (02:05:03):
It needs to be it needs to be a w
and all that.
Speaker 19 (02:05:06):
I feel like, yes, I always break balls, and I'm
always like, you know, Justin Field's MVP, you know, breaking
passing yardages and I'm just messing around. But do I
think that there's a lot of upside with Justin Fields
potentially here with us?
Speaker 3 (02:05:24):
I do you saw it last night? You could win
a game by running a lot?
Speaker 19 (02:05:30):
Sure, continue, continue to keep doing that, and hopefully that
our defense will be good enough to be able to
keep Aaron Rodgers at bay, which I think we can, Dude,
everything that I've seen on him so far at and
maybe just practice right, And I'm just saying this practice
and whatnot.
Speaker 3 (02:05:47):
You look slow. It looks a lot a lot slower
than what he was before.
Speaker 19 (02:05:52):
I saw your your thing yesterday that you have with
the guy from Pittsburgh, right, I forgot his name.
Speaker 1 (02:06:00):
Oh yeah, we did two and yeah, for those who
are looking for Jet Steelers coverage, we did two interviews.
Mike na Castro was yesterday and the day before was
Alex Kazora, so both great Steelers' interviews. So yes, what
about him?
Speaker 19 (02:06:12):
He kind of was like, dude, our defense and people
are saying that this is going to be an historic
defense and all that. Oh yeah, Brady talking trash man
so let's get in the ring and straight punch him
in the nose and watch that faucet of blood just
start coming out for them, you know, Like, I'm sorry,
(02:06:34):
but Aaron Rodgers, dude, I want that dude on his back.
Constant pressure on this dude. Do not show any type
of mercy. And if he's gonna throw the ball, let
our guys pick it off. Maybe Cisco is the individual
that is out there centerfield and maybe picked it off.
I would love for Sauce Gardner to be the individual
that does pick it off in a pick six.
Speaker 3 (02:06:53):
I just just wanted to come in.
Speaker 19 (02:06:55):
In regards to that, I think we win. If I'm
being honest with you, I think it's gonna be an
ugly game. I say it's going to be thirteen to nine.
I don't think we let Pittsburgh score a touch inn
at all. I think it's all field goals for them.
I think we do score a touchdown and we go
from there and we move on to the Bills and
we'll see what we have when we play on Week two.
Speaker 3 (02:07:17):
In regards to that, but Pittsburgh, first, let's get this
dumb and the last.
Speaker 19 (02:07:21):
Thing the JJ conversation, right protect the player from himself.
I understand that he's saying that he's ready and all
these things. Yeah, you know, it's about the long run
with him, and I want him to succeed as well.
(02:07:44):
But depending upon what kind of schemes are going to
be running, et cetera, et cetera. But again I have
them winning, Bob. I always appreciate you when you come
on here, man, I do look forward to the Fridays
when you come on.
Speaker 2 (02:07:53):
To the show. Thank you. I appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (02:07:56):
And I do have to say your j E T
s was very, very robotic. I thought you were doing
the robot when you were out here.
Speaker 2 (02:08:03):
So wait, yes, juts jets jets. Yes, yeah, almost I
almost felt like I had to add to it. I
love Fireman d too.
Speaker 3 (02:08:18):
That was awesome day et Judge ju juts. Let's go Judgs.
Speaker 2 (02:08:23):
Hey listen, this is uh, you know, let me say
one more thing about Sunday might be my last chance. Yes, uh,
defense and special teams can really make it easy for
the offense to do what it needs to do and
if we can pin them back in their own territory
through special teams. Hey, our new punter, I mean you
(02:08:44):
look like he was all world during the season and
and that's not something that you have to worry if
he's going to be able to duplicate that against second
you know, against first stringers like you do with everybody
else in preseason. I don't know what they did, you know,
to help improve what his punting skills are, but that
(02:09:04):
could really be a key because that way the Jets
know they don't have to take, you know, big chances
on third down and it can really shorten the field.
And so if the if they can pin the Steelers
back on the defense and hold them, you know, we
can have terrific field position to start, which will make
it much easier.
Speaker 1 (02:09:24):
That's for sure. Let's go to the man that is
responsible for this video existing on our new page, y E.
Speaker 2 (02:09:33):
T Yes, Jets, Jets, Jets, Yes, Yeah, I may not
be able to show up anymore after.
Speaker 1 (02:09:41):
That for thank you for that gift, brother, It's a
gift they get talk givin.
Speaker 2 (02:09:46):
Can you guys hear me? Okay?
Speaker 20 (02:09:48):
Yeah, okay, First of all, I you know, I want
to I wanted to call in because I want to
hear Bob do that live?
Speaker 1 (02:09:56):
Is that possible?
Speaker 6 (02:09:57):
Look?
Speaker 1 (02:09:57):
Can you do that?
Speaker 6 (02:09:57):
Bob?
Speaker 2 (02:09:59):
You want you want another example? Yeah, come on, all right,
ready you ready to take this all this time?
Speaker 1 (02:10:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (02:10:07):
There we got Jay g Us Juts, Jets, Jets.
Speaker 11 (02:10:15):
That was great. I think you're you're you're.
Speaker 2 (02:10:19):
I did the Jets were a little off, but I
don't know. I tried did the Jets thing backwards so that.
Speaker 9 (02:10:26):
Yeah, I don't know what was going the way.
Speaker 2 (02:10:27):
You can, you can, you can do away with a
Yankee cap. It's not a Yankee wait wait, wait, wait, well,
don't don't go there, Bob. Was it a giants gap?
Speaker 14 (02:10:37):
This?
Speaker 6 (02:10:37):
This is a green new.
Speaker 2 (02:10:40):
So happens, just so happens, and it has the Yankee
emblem on it.
Speaker 1 (02:10:45):
Yeah, but that is green. It's green.
Speaker 2 (02:10:49):
Who's whose uniform are you wearing?
Speaker 1 (02:10:51):
Oh yeah, yeah, let's oh come on, Curtis Martin baby hollo.
Speaker 4 (02:10:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (02:10:57):
I couldn't.
Speaker 20 (02:10:58):
I can't fit into my uh Freeman McNeil one. I tried,
but didn't fit anymore. I had some one, but I
don't know how many years ago. I think it was
fifty pounds or you know, Brian, But yeah, no, I
just wanted to call in and everybody's I missed the
beginning of the show.
Speaker 11 (02:11:15):
I missed Allan's Alon.
Speaker 2 (02:11:17):
Oh my god, I got that stuff I was doing.
I called, I go back and listen to you must
I go back and go back and listen to it.
So I missed that, and I told him, like I go,
everybody's hating ninety this morning?
Speaker 11 (02:11:32):
What the hell did you say?
Speaker 4 (02:11:32):
Wasn't it?
Speaker 2 (02:11:33):
Wasn't Alan? I mean, this is early on when I
first started making appearances. Wasn't Alon that everybody was trying
to vote off the island?
Speaker 1 (02:11:40):
Oh? Yes, who's that Scotty? Scotty, you wanted to ban
a lot of people, You want to send a lot
of people.
Speaker 20 (02:11:46):
Yes, Scotty's like you doesn't agree with him. So as
far as the season, I've been saying this. You heard
me say before, they're going to be six and six
after twelve game. You're going to be following a five
hundred record throughout the season and then maybe win eight
nine games.
Speaker 11 (02:12:06):
Okay.
Speaker 20 (02:12:07):
Now, if for some reason we're two and twelve after that,
it's probably because a major injury, and I do consider
ABT a major, But I think we have enough depth
in line it'll kind of keep us there.
Speaker 11 (02:12:23):
I hope that's what I'm hoping for.
Speaker 20 (02:12:25):
But you know, if like Garrett Wilson goes down, or
Fields goes down, or Williams brothers go down something crazy,
then we're going to be two and ten. If on
the other hand, we're ten and two, that means that
everybody's underestimated Justin Fields and his offense and they're running.
Speaker 2 (02:12:45):
But I'm not thinking that's going to happen.
Speaker 20 (02:12:48):
So I'm looking still at a five hundred season as.
Speaker 2 (02:12:52):
Far as all the week. Five hundred season would be terrific.
What four hundred season, five hundred season would be terrific? Yeah, No,
I think be eight nine wins is where I'm at.
I think that's what your dad said too.
Speaker 20 (02:13:04):
Yes, it'd be. It'd be a huge step up in
really would just like you said, keep getting better. I
don't know if Justin Field is our future quarterback and not,
but we're gonna find out.
Speaker 1 (02:13:17):
Yeah, we're gonna find out altogether. So again I have
to thank you, uh for Lily for giving us this
gift that keeps.
Speaker 9 (02:13:25):
On y e t yes, juts jets jets.
Speaker 16 (02:13:30):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (02:13:31):
Yeah, it just shows I'll do anything for nineteen ninety nine.
Speaker 1 (02:13:36):
Here go, there you go. Maybe twenty bucks is twenty bucks.
Thanks Pal. Anyway, all right, we have we have one
last call to get to because I don't want to
leave anyone hanging here. But then I have to go
do other shows. So yeah, so this is the last call,
but it is Neil Senior of course with fresh So good.
Speaker 11 (02:13:57):
Morning, Good morning, Bob.
Speaker 4 (02:13:58):
How are you.
Speaker 2 (02:13:59):
I'm fine? In two days before the first home opener?
You're not gonna go.
Speaker 6 (02:14:02):
To Oh yeah, you heard about that?
Speaker 16 (02:14:05):
Yeah I did.
Speaker 13 (02:14:06):
I you know, that's my first missed opener.
Speaker 3 (02:14:08):
I got to say in over twenty five years.
Speaker 1 (02:14:11):
Uh, I think still goes like he feels.
Speaker 4 (02:14:14):
The You know, I got a plan.
Speaker 13 (02:14:18):
I'm having a couple of real big Jet fans over.
Speaker 3 (02:14:20):
We're going to do our own tailgate and make a
day out of it.
Speaker 11 (02:14:24):
I Am going to be going to the Buffalo game.
Speaker 13 (02:14:27):
I have a good friend of mine who's a building
manager in the city, and he gets uh coaches club seats.
Speaker 9 (02:14:34):
You know, he's a big.
Speaker 13 (02:14:37):
You know, Neil, I got coaches. What he does is
he gives me the coaches club seats, and my job
is to drive him, pick him up him and Hassett
with his son, and drive him to the game.
Speaker 1 (02:14:48):
Reach him for coaches. I pick him up from here
from a sweet I got you.
Speaker 9 (02:14:53):
It's a but yeah.
Speaker 11 (02:14:54):
But let me tell you something.
Speaker 13 (02:14:55):
The reason he loves me to drive is I go
from the game. When I leave the game, it's like
a Formula one Nascar. I'm like a Nascar driver. I
come out of the park and I park in a
specific spot. I go on the shoulder, I jam it
over here, I race over there. I get home and
from met Life to Manhasset, which is about, you know,
(02:15:22):
pretty beginning of Nassau County in less than an hour.
Speaker 21 (02:15:25):
Every time I go, I was going to salute you anybody,
and to lie, I was going to salute you anybody
who would devote three and a half hours after the
game is over to get back home on the island.
Speaker 22 (02:15:38):
Because I was listening to Boomer and Geo the other
day and they had fan after fan calling up about
the horror of trying to get out of there and
get back.
Speaker 6 (02:15:49):
I don't know, I do it really right, Bob.
Speaker 3 (02:15:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 13 (02:15:51):
I have a good escape plan and everything else that
works out really well. But you know, I watched do
you guys obviously watched the game last night?
Speaker 1 (02:16:00):
I did. I don't think Bob did.
Speaker 2 (02:16:01):
Because other responsibilities.
Speaker 13 (02:16:05):
You know what's amazing to me, Art did not throw
a single pass to a wide receiver until like the
late and the third quarter poll.
Speaker 9 (02:16:15):
I think what, I think, what's his name?
Speaker 2 (02:16:18):
The big receiver had one?
Speaker 1 (02:16:21):
Yeah, he had.
Speaker 6 (02:16:23):
A fourth quarter one.
Speaker 1 (02:16:25):
Yeah, and that's all he had in the game. I
believe that's right.
Speaker 13 (02:16:28):
So the bottom line is he did it all on
his legs. And I told my wife because she doesn't know,
she's a Jet fan, but she's very frustrated. I said, Michelle,
our quarterback runs better than that quarterback.
Speaker 1 (02:16:41):
She's like, he's way faster.
Speaker 11 (02:16:44):
I go, you got, she goes.
Speaker 13 (02:16:45):
You gotta be kidding me. So that's not happening, I said,
you'll see, and I'm gonna tell you so. I was
very encouraged watching him run for touchdowns in the red zone.
Speaker 3 (02:16:54):
I'm saying to myself, this could be us.
Speaker 1 (02:16:57):
It could be us, It could be us.
Speaker 6 (02:16:59):
Yeah, why not?
Speaker 1 (02:17:01):
Why not us?
Speaker 2 (02:17:03):
I'm going to be fascinated to see what kind of
predesign play they can put together.
Speaker 6 (02:17:09):
And the other ones.
Speaker 1 (02:17:10):
Right, the two Jalen Hurts touchdowns were not orchestrated. They
were they were the pressure makes a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (02:17:19):
I don't watch a lot of games where the Jets
are not playing, but I distinctly remember that game the
Jets won when they played against Hurts. But how how
e loosely he was when they had a pass rush,
and how it would be third and thirteen and he
would run for eighteen yards.
Speaker 1 (02:17:35):
Well, now we don't have to worry about that. We're
blitzing the hell out of them, kitchen sink. It's going
to be great.
Speaker 13 (02:17:40):
Yeah, I will say this to you the way he well,
don't forget the Eagles when when he's being pressured, right,
there's huge gaps in the offensive line because their line
is just unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (02:17:54):
Oh, it's really good.
Speaker 13 (02:17:55):
Every guy on that line when they pff them in
the beginning of the game is top five, you know,
number one at their position, number two at their position.
I've never seen that before that an offensive line had
four out of five guys that were top five. And
the other one is the guard that replaced Bectin. He
(02:18:16):
doesn't have a ranking obviously, Yeah, right, it might have
had him in the four.
Speaker 2 (02:18:20):
They have any kind of a pass rush against the
Eagles last night, Yeah, some pass rush.
Speaker 11 (02:18:26):
They were pretty good.
Speaker 1 (02:18:27):
They did pretty all things considered without Michael Parsons. I
thought they did a very fair job.
Speaker 13 (02:18:32):
To be honest, I'll tell you the guy that the
guy that they got from Green Bay.
Speaker 6 (02:18:35):
Was was a record.
Speaker 1 (02:18:37):
Yeah. He had a unbelievable game. Yeah, really good game.
Speaker 2 (02:18:43):
Year.
Speaker 9 (02:18:43):
Neil.
Speaker 2 (02:18:44):
I wanted to know which tunnel do you take that
you are racing through.
Speaker 13 (02:18:49):
Well, what I do is, I'll take three to the
Lincoln Tunnel, both through Manhattan, shoot through Manhattan, out four
at Midtown Tunnel four ninety five, take the service road
on four ninety five, go through Queens and then bust
out by the Grand Siday, New York.
Speaker 2 (02:19:09):
To know, I lived long enough in New York to
know what you're talking about. But getting through that tunnel,
my wife and I were at a wedding back in
May and on Sunday night, just getting from New Jersey
back into Manhattan was a horror show. And my wife
was watching the Boomer and Gail thing the other day
with me, and she said, what takes so long? I said, Honey,
(02:19:32):
don't you remember how we sat in traffic on a
Sunday night at ten thirty at night trying to get
back into Manhattan. How it was bumper to bumper just
trying to get it, you know, into the tunnel. It's ridiculous,
It's crazy.
Speaker 13 (02:19:45):
I grew up in New Jersey and when I I
went to school at Saint John's and Queens. And when
I moved to Queens after high school, that's when the
Jets moved from uh from to.
Speaker 9 (02:20:04):
Met Life.
Speaker 13 (02:20:05):
So now I had to make a reverse commute going
the other direction, you know.
Speaker 2 (02:20:09):
When it was Do you see any chance that that
the Jets could build a stadium in New York?
Speaker 6 (02:20:15):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (02:20:15):
God, I wish they would.
Speaker 13 (02:20:17):
Yeah, I mean the perfect stadium is right by Arthur
Ash there, right in Queens.
Speaker 11 (02:20:22):
You got plenty of room.
Speaker 2 (02:20:23):
Really where right on right where you got.
Speaker 13 (02:20:27):
Your city field, right in your city field.
Speaker 2 (02:20:29):
Well, listen, I know that area too, the World's fare
the world's fair grounds. But you'd probably have to take
down the Unisphere to build build I don't even think
you have to do that.
Speaker 13 (02:20:40):
I mean, that's an amazing acredg area there. They did
that whole big renovation of the Arthur Rash Stadium there,
and there's plenty of room to put a football stadium
if there's any spot that has the best traffic flow,
I mean from that spot.
Speaker 6 (02:20:57):
You go Triboro, you.
Speaker 11 (02:20:58):
Can go Manhattan, you could go Queens.
Speaker 13 (02:21:00):
Could you know there's so much you know in and
out accessibility that you don't really get jammed.
Speaker 11 (02:21:06):
Up like you do coming out of met life.
Speaker 3 (02:21:08):
I mean, it's a catashony.
Speaker 2 (02:21:09):
I could have walked over there from where I used
to live.
Speaker 1 (02:21:12):
Well, boys, Neil, give us a before we sign off
on the show. Prediction or any comment you want to
make about Jets Steelers go.
Speaker 13 (02:21:22):
I think we're going to pull one out. I think
we're going to win the game. It's going to be
a slopfest.
Speaker 10 (02:21:28):
I think it's good.
Speaker 13 (02:21:28):
I think we get a touchdown early, and I think
the defense does a good job against Rogers.
Speaker 9 (02:21:34):
I'm going to say.
Speaker 13 (02:21:38):
I'm going to say ten thirteen, sixteen, nineteen four field
goals in a touchdown nineteen seventeen.
Speaker 11 (02:21:46):
Jets works for me.
Speaker 1 (02:21:48):
