Speaker 1 (00:04):

(01:36):
all right, making me look a real nice lug and
that could sometimes be a challenge. So shout out to
my fiance out there in the universe. Now, let's talk quarterback, baby,
and there's some interesting takeaways for this NFL draft and
one thing we'll do later on the show. Depending on
when you're listening, it's April twenty ninth at a little
(01:57):
after seven thirty in the morning. At three on April
twenty ninth, later today, you guys could check that out
in a live video section. We're gonna be talking about
the biggest winners and losers from the Jets draft. And
one of the winners I thought was Jordan Travis. The
Jets didn't draft a quarterback. That's good news for Jordan Travis.
In theory, he has been crowned as the developmental guy.
(02:18):
If the Jets would have drafted a rookie quarterback like
so many wanted out there in the universe, Jordan Travis
would have been thrown out with the bathwater. Probably in theory,
not immediately, but in training camp eventually but there's just
been a lot of twist and turns to this story,
a lot of twists and turns. So let's try to
unpack it all here on the show if we can.
(02:41):
So let's go back all the way to the beginning
of the OP season. Beginning of the op season, Ritzemini
came out with a piece in early March in a
Sunday Morning column and revealed a direct quote from Jordan
Travis's agent, Derrick Jackson. Here's what's what his agent had
to say. His rehab with the Jets was not the best.
(03:04):
They tried to rush him. It was too fast. There
was pressure on the coaching staff, and they tried to
get him going sooner than the timeline really was. That
caused the setback and we had to shut him down completely.
So Jordan Travis' agent straight up blamed the Jets for
how the whole thing imploded. Last year, Jordan Travis didn't
play in a game. He didn't practice, Yes, Alan I said,
(03:27):
we're talking about practice. He didn't even practice this past season.
After being drafted in the fifth round by the New
York Jets. The Jets took a risk on this guy
because he went later than expected. Because of his injury,
and that injury was he fractured and dislocated his ankle
while also stretching some ligaments during his final season at
(03:48):
Florida State that thanks to NFL insider Tom palliserro that
information Orthopedist doctor Robert Anderson, who performed that surgery, said
that Jordan Travis should be cleared by training came in
late July. That's what Peliser had said in April of
twenty twenty four. Of course, we all know that never happened.
So again, I thought, so we have that at the
(04:10):
beginning of the obviousason, right, agent blames Jets and technically
it's the old regime because they're fired. New regime come in.
I'm like, what the hell is going on here?
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Right?
Speaker 1 (04:20):
So I thought, so we hear that. I'm like, Lily,
that could be bad news. And then Aaron Glenn was
asked about the Jordan Travis situation at the NFL owners meetings. Okay,
so let's bring up this clip. This is between ag
and Rich Semini on Jordan Travis. Shortly after that story, Jordan.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
Travis will be ready to go grow tas and what
are your plans right now?
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Well, I'm not a doctor, So I can't tell you that.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
What are your plans for this year?
Speaker 4 (04:48):
If he's ready to play, he's gonna compete, you know.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
I mean, we obviously haven't seen him because of his
college injury. To you, how much do you know about
him through the scouting process and what.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
Kind of quarterback game?
Speaker 6 (04:58):
Well from the days in college, I think with a
pretty damn good player, you know. So once he gets
a chance to be clear to getting ready to compete,
to compete.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
That's one of my favorite quotes. Hey, Jordan Travis is
gonna be ready to go for rots. I'm not a doctor, Rich,
I'm not a doctor. Oh okay, I didn't ask you
if you were dis asked if he was gonna be
ready for ots. That was sort of funny. That was hilarious.
Not ready, he says, not ready. By the way, let

Below's only two ninety nine a month, help support the

your name and all kinds of cool perks. So take
full advantage to nine to nine more on Jordan Travis right,
(07:51):
so his agent blames the Jets earlier this offseason. By
the way, quick detour on that that doesn't seem to
make Why would the Jets have been rushing Jordan Travis
they had Aaron Rodgers? Why would they Again, not that
I want to talk about Aaron Rodgers again, but like,
why would they have rushed him? Like it would make
sense if they didn't have Jordan or excuse me, they
didn't have Aaron Rodgers and they're like, oh, geez, we
(08:12):
need to get Jordan Travis on the field. But he
like wasn't even gonna get on the field outside of practice.
So I that part kind of confuses me, but whatever,
that's uh, that's the agent's sake. Then you hear that
from a g where he's like, I'm not a doctor,
I don't know. And then we're like, oh, okay, and
now let's like sort of fast forward here on your
tv O. I don't know if people still have that,
(08:32):
but anyho, we fast forward to the draft, and again
there's a lot of hubbubbo. They're just gonna take a quarterback,
or they gonna take a quarterback high? Are they're gonna
take a quarterback in the middle, Are they gonna take
a quarterback late speculation, speculation, speculation, and they don't take
a quarterback again me, I'm like, oh, great news for
Jordan Travis. That's terrific, amazing. That gives as I'm throwing
(08:58):
things around here, that gives Jordan Travis a great opportunity. Correct, Well,
let's go to Darren Moji, the general manager who spoke
after the draft, was asked about Jordan Travis twice.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
How much consideration did you give that any point to
a quarterback in the fact that you didn't draft one.
Is that sort of an endorsement as Travis is your
quote unquote development.
Speaker 7 (09:21):
Yeah, we talked about a lot of the quarterbacks obviously
going into this draft and then throughout the process, and
there was some still on the board now, I believe,
and we'll see after the draft if if we address
that with these undrafted free agents. But we're always talking
about guys remaining and how they would fit and their
value no different than any of their position.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
At the quarterback.
Speaker 8 (09:43):
Where is Jordan Travis in his recovery is Yeah.
Speaker 7 (09:49):
I won't speak on any of the player's medical publicly
right now.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
So in case you're missed on the first question there,
I paired those two together because there were Jordan Drivers
questions that from points of the presser number one, okay, Rizomon,
he asked, you know about the whole quarterback conversation in
the draft? Did he ever think about it? And and
since you didn't take one, does that crown you know
you want to crown on the crown? They're asked, does
(10:16):
that crown Jordan Travis as the developmental guy for your system?
Durrenmdgie completely ignored that part of the question, and then
we just get a straight up Jordan Travis question later, like, hey,
what's the medical update? We're not going to talk about
medicals now. Maybe Darren Moujie just doesn't like giving out
unnecessary information. He doesn't have to. But you would think
if Jordan Travis is very close to being medically cleared, which,
(10:39):
by the way, uh, Jordan Travis's agent told rich Sarmony,
he's optimistic, he's going to be good to go. We'll
see what that means. Different people have perceived that in
different ways. Optimistic, oh, which totally happened. Optimistic, Like why
do you have to be optimistic? Why can't you just
say he's going to be ready to go? So either
Darren Muchie doesn't just want to share that information publicly
for whatever reason, or people are saying saying, well, if
(11:02):
he was ready to be healthy, wouldn't you scream that
from the rooftops Anyway, the reason why we bring this up,
and good morning to a step ten baby boom, Good
morning sir again A step ten. You are in a
second place currently in our Raffle contest, seventy five Raffle
tickets so far this month, only two days left, so
keep that in mind. But good morning, my good sir.
(11:23):
And so they didn't draft the quarterback. You're like, oh, okay,
that must be pretty good news. But Riz Samini, coming
off of that press conference said mixed signals on Jordan
Travis is what Ritz Semini wrote. They didn't draft the quarterback,
which could be seen as an endorsement of Jordan Travis's
or qute unquote developmental quarterback, but at the same time
they refused to give an injury update on Travis, with
(11:45):
Muji saying he won't discuss medical situations. They probably should
have drafted a quarterback. Can't bank on justin fields as
the long term answer that came from Riz Samini. Zach
Rosenblatt described the Jets as cage when talking about Jordan Trapp. Okay, cage.
The Jets refusal to even comment on his health status
(12:06):
isn't a great sign, according to Zach Rosenblatt. So we're
having a lot of interpretations of what this could mean.
And again I thought it was good news. But let
me tell you this, this is why, all of a sudden,
I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. They signed an undrafted
free agent quarterback that I'm not gonna say was supposed
(12:29):
to be drafted or anything like that. But Brady Cook,
well he can cook. Okay, Jordan Travis should be on
upset alert with Brady Cook joining the squad, I think
he should be on upset alert because following the draft,
the Jets signed Missouri quarterback, reuniting it with armand Membu
(12:50):
as an undrafted free agent quarterback. Brady Cook is twenty
three years of age, spent all five if of his
collegiate seasons at Missouri. He racked up during that time
ninety two hundred passing yard, sixty six percent completion percentage,
and finished with a forty nine touchdown to fifteen interception ratio.
NFL drafted analyst Lancer Line described it as a tantalizing
(13:12):
prospect with athleticism and arm talent. His physical traits and
athletic ability are worth a discussion as a developmental prospect.
He possesses a strong arm with relatively effortless delivery. And
here's the thing, folks about Brady Cook. Now you may
look at Brady could go who the hell is this?
(13:32):
But you dive a little bit deeper. Brady Cook, he's
got a little something something to him. Look at what
he did at the NFL combine. Right, He measured it
at six foot two, two hundred and fourteen pounds. He
destroyed the combine. Listen to this. Let me run through
it for you. He ran the fastest forty yard dash.
(13:52):
And all of these little nuggets I'm about to give
are all at his position. Obviously at quarterback, he's not
the He didn't run the fastest forty yeard dash quarterbacks
and running backs or just quarterbacks. But I want you
to keep this in mind. Right, So we ran the
fastest forty yard desh of the combine among quarterbacks four
or five nine. He had the fastest ten yard split,
which is normally an indicator of explosiveness, things of that
(14:13):
nature one point five to three. He had the best
vertical jump thirty seven inches, He had the best broad
jump ten to eight. He had the fastest three cone
seven oh one and the fastest twenty yard shuttle four
one seven. Literally every single measurable thing in Indianapolis, Brady
Cook was in first place of all the quarterbacks that participated.
(14:37):
There's some good stuff there, some real good stuff. And
also he's a capable runner. You want mistaken for Lamar Jackson, hell,
you want mistaken for Justin Fields. But in his career
he added twelve hundred rushing yards and twenty touchdowns. And
I think Dane Brielgler wrote it well on the B
saying he's not elusive, but he's an underrated athlete who
(14:57):
consistently picks up positive yards and he could take the
green grass in front of him, which, like I said,
we've been complaining about quarterbacks not doing that, of not
taking that grass in front of him. Brady Cook can
do that, So I like that from Brady. He's also
team captain in his final three seasons, so to me,
(15:21):
I think Brady Cook could totally be QB three on
this Jet squad. That's totally possible if they keep three quarterbacks.
It's hard to know because we don't know what this
new regime is, right, we don't know their philosophies. That's
another thing that'll be interesting. I saw Zach za Blatt
put out a fifty three man roster prediction for right
after the draft, and normally, like for instance, in the
(15:42):
Solid regime, he liked keeping ten defensive linemen for his rotation.
So that was something we could sort of pencil in
when we're talking about roster construction. Oh he keeps this
many this. Oh he normally keeps this many receivers. Oh,
he normally keeps this. A brand new regime, we have
no friggin idea what their thought process ease on roster construction.
(16:03):
So this will be interesting. So we'll see on the
quarterback conversation, we'll see. But obviously Justin Fields is the guy,
and again at three o'clock will really dive deeper into
this thought of who won or lost the Jets draft
based on what they did right like Justin Fields, you
could say he's a big winner. They didn't draft the
quarterback and they built around Justin Fields. So Justin Fields
(16:24):
is a winner. Right, You could say that Jeremy Record
is a loser. Right, the Jets drafted Mason Taylor, So
Jeremy Records on borrow time, and again we'll get more
into that at three o'clock live on the show. I'll
be at the radio station for that one. So that's interesting.
But again, when you bring it to this, I thought
Jordan Travis was a winner, but now that they added
(16:45):
Brady Cook, I think Jordan Travis will have some serious
competition that QB three role, and we will see his
agent seem to indicate he's going to be ready to
go and ready to compete, as Aaron Glenn likes to say, compete.
We will see because Jordan or excuse me, Justin Fields
is clearly QB one. Iye, oup, Tyron Taylor is clearly
(17:08):
QB two, eye up, and the conversation is QB three.
Even if the Jets are going to have a QB three,
which they may not, they may just shoved that guy
in the practice squad potentially. So it is that battle
between again Jordan Travis and Brady Cook, which again I'm
sort of intrigued by. Let's see, I think Brady Cook
was a very fascinating QBN. Now, I'll tell you this
(17:29):
a couple of nuggets. If this guy would have made
it to undrafted freecy, this name I'm about to say,
I think he would have been the guy for the Jets,
not Brady Cook. But he ended up getting drafted at
the end of the draft. That was quin Youwers out
of Texas. Now, he is a very polarizing guy for
a lot of reasons. But the Jets met with him
(17:50):
three times during the pre draft process. They liked quin
you Weers a lot, and I believe that was their
plan at quarterback post draft, but quin Youers just taken
so then that plan was taken away and then they
pivoted to Brady Cook. I think Brady Cook sort of intriguing.
I'm just saying, I'm just saying, I think there's going
to be a nice little conversation there, a nice little
(18:12):
conversation there. But again for Ricky New York out there
on the audience, the massive Jordan Travis Florida State guy.
I hope Jordan Travis gets a chance because quite frankly,
he didn't have a shot last year because of the injury.
So hopefully could get healthy and you could see it,
because the worst thing possible will be us all around
the water cooler. What if What if Jordan Travis got
(18:35):
a chance, got a shot to be healthy and kind
of go through his process and then maybe light up
the preseason like, Hey, there he is Jordan Travis. You know,
so we'll see in the same breath. I'm glad that
Justin Fields get his opportunity to to be the guy
the Jets did not take the quarterback from the apple
tree of ooh, ooh, look at this tantalizing guy. Look
(18:57):
at this tim Together Jets went, now we're runing with
your Fields and we'll see what's up.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
But I like that.
Speaker 1 (19:04):

Speaker 11 (22:05):
Good?
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Because uh no my head set? Yeah yeah, you sound
a little quiet.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
Oh well, uh I think that except Mike is a
fading fast. It was only a forty dollar ahead set.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Anyway, I usually talked to fucking a loud anyway, So.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
Anyway, there go.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Richie from Jets Richie was on you know Richie from
Jets Media.
Speaker 10 (22:27):
Yeah, Island.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Yeah, he went to the draft in Green Bay and
he was talking with Jets form a tight end.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Johnny Mitchell.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Oh really, let's go. I haven't heard from Johnny in
a long time.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
Anyway.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Johnny Mitchell was saying, I'm a I'm a football coach now,
and he was praising the living hell out of Justin Fields.
He was saying that kid should have been the second
pick in the draft after Trevor Lawrence. He said he
should have been on the Jets all along. And he
said he has had the the worst luck with coaching
(23:08):
of any quarterback he's ever seen.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
That's probably true.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
A different offensive coordinator like almost every year.
Speaker 11 (23:16):
Of his career.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Yeah, there are two names that stand out to me,
Jason Campbell and Yesteryear's pasted an Alex Smith, who both
got dicked around with a lot of different offensive coordinators,
so they would both be on the list. But yeah,
Joseph Field is totally up there anyway.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
According to Johnny Mitchell, he said, this kid has got
every tool in the tool box.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
He's big, he's stressed.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
He's fast, he's got a cannon for an arm, and
he's smart. So he's like, if this kid can just
get some continuity, I mean, he's gonna be great. I
mean he's five years in the league now, and you know,
my I'm always talking about some guys take a little
bit longer to develop and get get up to speed
(24:02):
with the actual speed of the NFL and and the
pros and the professional football game is much Yeah, in
college years, he has improved every single year.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
I'm not gonna sit here and hey, real quick, easy,
I can hear you, but the the audience cannot for
whatever reason. A hold on a second, Yeah, okay, I'm
gonna have to get rid of the headphone. Okay, sure,
(24:35):
can you hear me? Now oh wow, loud and clear. Yeah,
can you hear me now? Yes, loud and clear. Yeah,
we put it on the speaker. Okay, there you go.
It's not like that springt commercial. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (24:51):
Well, however it works out, they've been saying, like I said,
Johnny Mitchell said that this kid is going to be great.
Speaker 4 (24:59):
H talking about Justin Fields.
Speaker 8 (25:02):
So the other the other point I want to make
is there has definitely got to be something with with
Jordan Travis where they refuse to talk about him. I
don't understand the cageness not wanting to talk about him.
Maybe because he's still hurt they can't justify not taking
(25:22):
a quarterback, or maybe because he's not hurt, they just
don't want to talk about it. But I mean, all
they're doing is delaying the inevitable because if he's hurt,
we're all gonna freaking find out about it.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Yeah, right, exactly.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
That's childishness at this point.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Yeah, it just seems. It just seems odd because, like
I said, if Jordan Travis is healthy, you'd think they'd
want to screen that. Hey, everybody, we're excited to say
Jordan Travis is healthy, He's going to compete. You would
think that they would want.
Speaker 11 (25:50):
To do that.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
So yep.
Speaker 8 (25:54):
Anyway, I'm having problems hearing you now, so let me
let the next guy on. And uh, I don't know
what the hell the Jets are doing. I just don't
like this. This, this caginess and this and the and
the bullshit. Yeah, either be up. They should just be
upfront about it. Look, we have high hopes for him.
We don't know if he's ready yet. That's all up
to the doctors, but at least say something. Don't don't
(26:16):
you know, bullshit about it, because we're too intelligent an
audience to deal.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
With that kind of nonsense.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Yes, we are easy and sorry about your microphone there.
People said they sort of enjoyed that. I was kind
of interpreting what you were saying, so like, whatever you
were saying, I'm like and then responded, and then they
sort of guessed what you were saying, so yeah, compelling. Nonetheless,
let's go back to the phone line. Jer We got
Philium here on the show. F L Phil ninety eight.
Speaker 10 (26:45):
What's up, brother, Good morning, Paul, how are you?
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Oh excellent? Thank you listen.
Speaker 10 (26:52):
I've been listening to the show afterwards a little bit lately.
I got the shout out the other day. I appreciate
that you brought up a couple of things I had
said about the rule changes, and one of them, one
of them, in particular, the kickoff. I don't know if
you remember. You probably don't, but last year when they
made the change, I said that bringing the ball out
(27:13):
to the thirty was not enough of a deterrent, and
I thought they should have brought it out to the
thirty five or forty because now it's situational. There's going
to be times you're still going to want to kick
it into the end zone. There's going to be times
that you're not. So I like that changed a lot. Yeah,
and what that brought to mind for me is I
got a hot take for you, very.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
Very early hot.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Come on, let me hear it, baby.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (27:38):
Arian Smith is going to be our kickoff and punt
return guy. I think it's why they took him. He's
going to replace the very mediocre Xavior Gibson in that role.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (27:51):
So, I think besides the fact that obviously, you know,
a couple of times a game at least they'll throw
them out there to try and spread the feeld, you know,
take the shot down field, with him, for sure. The
speed is all about but you know, the drop thing
is a concerned A lot of people have some doubts
about the guy. My assumption is that he's gonna be
(28:12):
able to catch a kickoff and with the proper training punts,
you know, that kind of thing, with that kind of speed,
given you know, a five yard cushion, this guy could
be dangerous, man. So I wanted to throw that out there.
And then one other thing was, you know the the
playoff thing, which was it may right, is when they
(28:34):
have the next meeting.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Yes, that's correct, so it's only like, well, let's see,
so schedule's fourteenth, so it's like the I believe it's
a twenty first. It's after it's like after that week
of schedules. So yeah, it's like the twenty first, twenty
eight something like that is when the next they convene again.
For some of those alternative like the ones that they
punt and say, hey, well we're gonna wait on this.
I think it's to collect vote, So it's, uh, what's
(28:56):
the what's on tush push? This divisional playoff thing? Those
are like two of the main things. I think there
might be another item or two that they're going to
rack around the room.
Speaker 10 (29:07):
Yeah, that was the thing, the playoff thing. You know,
we did have a spirited conversation about that in the past.
And the one thing I want to stress is that
you still have a reward for winning your division. You
can be seven and ten and win a division and
you're in the playoffs. So to me, that is your reward.
We should also reward teams that win a lot. So
(29:31):
you know, you brought up the other day when you
when you brought this up, you said, you know you
had like, you know, a Detroit and Vikings thing where
you know, a fourteen win team goes on the road.
You know, that's That's all I'm talking about, is that,
you know, I think your reward for winning your division
is a playoff berth. If you're the second or third
best team, you're still going to get your your home game.
(29:53):
It's really just that one team that kind of lucks
into the playoffs because they're in a weak division. All
your take away from them as that home game. And
I think that's a good idea, I truly do. I
think it rewards teams that win a lot of games,
and that really is the whole point, right you want
to win as many games as you can. So that's
just my take on it, and I really appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
Paul, and real quick for before you get out of here.
Like I said, the strongest thing I've said where I'm
in my I say, I'm open, right, But then I'm like, wow,
this is mar Tak, this is Oar Tak, and I'm
at the radio station. I'm spewing the same thing I'm
selling you. I'm like, I'm like, this is the stupidest
thick about time. Keep it exactly how it is. And
then I told you. Someone countered and said, well what
(30:36):
about the NBA. I'm like, what do you mean about
the NBA? Like, like, what division is this team in it?
And they started listing them. Right here are all the
names where people don't know, the Atlantic, the Central, the Southeast,
the Northwest, the Pacific, the Southwest. No one on any
show even references these silly things anymore. They don't mean anything,
but they just stack them all up. The best teams
(30:57):
are here, the worst teams are here, and it's an
overall thing. But my only fear is, and maybe it
doesn't work this way because it's football versus basketball. Is
what I just said about the NBA, no one gives
a flying who or probably knows if I did a
trivia dek my radio stach day. I don't think every
one of my sports studio could name all of the
different divisions in NBA. I would hate if that ever
(31:17):
happened in the NFL, because, like I said, the divisions
mean so much to me, like there's just a special
juice there. I hope that because I feel like, and
maybe it's just me, maybe there are a lot of
NBA people who say, oh, no, I know all the divisions,
but to me, my gut tells me they don't, which
means that they sort of lost it over time when
they flipped to that the modus operanda. That part would
(31:39):
make me feel very sad, because the divisions are cool thing.
That we have this special thing with Dolphins, Bills, Patriots
that we all hate each other's guts. So I would
just want to make sure that, no matter what, we
didn't lose whatever that special genisa qua is.
Speaker 10 (31:54):
Yeah, but you wouldn't because no matter what, you're still
fighting for that division crown to get a playoff, you know,
so don't I don't think it would change I really don't.
And again the other thing about you know, lousy teams
sometimes make the playoffs because they won their division. And
that's fine. It's about division means something. Winning your division
(32:16):
means something. It earns you something. But you know, don't
forget there are teams every year with better records that
don't even make the playoffs. So again I keep saying
that the reward for winning your division is you get
in the dance. I think that's a significant reward that
will always be important. And whether it's you know, a
(32:39):
seven or eight win team or whatever, or a fourteen
and a fifteen fighting for that title, you're still fighting
for that type. So I do think it would it
would still be relevant. Then football is so different than
basketball that that will never change. Man, That that division
rivalry that you know, everybody knows the divisions, everybody knows
(33:00):
who's in him. You know, that's not going to change
in my view. So again I appreciate the discussion. And
you know, remember who said Smith was gonna be our
kick return guy?
Speaker 1 (33:11):
I love it, Filium, thanks for the call. Yeah, that's
a great take on Arian Smith, and good lord, anyone
but Xavier Gibson. He had the Week one touchdown, We're like, oh,
against the Bills a couple of years ago, Like, yeah,
it's been all downhill, So yeah, I would be totally
cool with somebody else. They talked about him as a
gunner too, so it seems like special teams will certainly
(33:34):
be a factor there as well. I see some more
questions in here. We'll get to all those. Excuse me,
we have four hundred people in the room. Like the video,
hit subscribe. Let's go back to the phone lines. We
got a mindset jet here on the show. What's up?
Speaker 11 (33:48):
Now's so?
Speaker 1 (33:49):
So, how you doing? How you doing? I'm doing great?
Thanks for calling in, Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 12 (33:54):
First of all, let's go Jets. First of all, I
know I'm wearing my Knicks hat today because they played course.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Okay, good luck to your next take care of let's finish.
Speaker 12 (34:04):
Game five, Game five. But anyways, uh draft, I thought
it was amazing B plus. I gave it a great
B plus. Uh Adrian Smith, I like the guy. It
needs to improve on his route running and catching. Obviously,
that's the obvious two things. Let's see uh Malachai Moore
(34:27):
Malachi more really interested about him. I want to see
how he develops. As a safety and see if you
can actually start.
Speaker 11 (34:35):
That's what I.
Speaker 12 (34:36):
Really and as Thomas and as Tom, I think you could, really,
I could. I think you really start. I think you
just start with sauce straight away. O. God, I'm afraid
of that. I'm already afraid of that.
Speaker 11 (34:50):
If you're you're a Dolphins, you better run. I'm sorry.
If you're Dolphins, you better run. Ty Hill. I don't
really care about Tyrek Hill.
Speaker 12 (34:56):
Sorry, guys, that ayways No, But what you were saying
earlier about Brady Cook, I saw some highlights yesterday actually,
and I was very interested about him.
Speaker 11 (35:09):
And the guy can play, the guy can play.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
It looks like it.
Speaker 12 (35:14):
I mean I don't I don't know about Jordan Travis
and all the whole injury like nonsense. But like, whoever's
gonna get the third spot is maybe, hopefully maybe our
future quarterback.
Speaker 11 (35:30):
I'm not gonna lie. I'm not gonna lie our future quarterback.
I think I'm not gonna lie. Brady Cook might be
our future quarterback.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
OK, it doesn't work out.
Speaker 12 (35:40):
If Justin Fields don't work out, that's fine. Look we tried,
we tried, but I think he I think he can
still be our starter our started for a couple of years.
M h, it's a it's a one year contract already.
It's already one year contract.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
So for who for fields two years deal?
Speaker 11 (35:58):
Well it feels like a one year.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
No, no, but no, to your point, it does because
whatever happens this year is going to sort of determine
where we go. If he stinks, Jets are like, all right,
how the hell do we get out of this? And
if he's good, then great, let's sign him even longer
than this. So yeah, it's essentially for all for all
intents and purposes.
Speaker 12 (36:17):
So when I just saw a name on the on
the undrafted free agency that we picked up, Donovan Edwards,
nobody's talking about.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
They should be talking about it because I did a
mock draft last week obviously before the draft, my final one,
and I Donovan Edwards is the final pick to the Jets.
I love Donovan Edwards. So many people have overlooked this guy.
I think he's the biggest name of the undrafted free
agent list the Jets in draft are running back. I
think the rest of the room should watch it. I
think he's gonna make the rosters the fourth guy.
Speaker 11 (36:46):
I also think he's gonna make the rosters before the
guy him straight.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
Great, yeah, give him a scream, give him one scream.
Speaker 11 (36:54):
Watch Watch what we do? Watch what was he gonna do?
Speaker 12 (36:58):
They were they were writing about all he did anything
in the last two years. But the guy can run,
the guy can catch, he's he's he's a he's a
good running back.
Speaker 11 (37:08):
Like, what do you want from him?
Speaker 1 (37:10):
I can't believe he wasn't to be honest with you,
so nice that I'll find here exactly.
Speaker 11 (37:16):
Oh yeah, yeah, I mean I'm excited for this this season.
I can't wait.
Speaker 12 (37:23):
I can't wait to go to the games, can't wait
to watch on my TV, you know, just chill, relaxed,
watch scream, scream my fucking lungs out.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Yeah, I love it.
Speaker 11 (37:33):
I can't wait, man, I can't Well.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
I'm glad that you called in, and hopefully you call
it more often the film.
Speaker 11 (37:39):
I will, I definitely will. All right, thanks this morning,
this morning I got fair enough.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
That's a good point.
Speaker 11 (37:46):
It's good.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
Good luck to your next tonight. Pal. Thank you, thank you,
Yeah you too, mind set jet Let's go, okay, I
love the energy, baby fired up, nice some good takes. Yeah,
you know, we haven't really talked about it much. But
Donovan Edwards absolutely love. What was that three years ago?
So twenty twenty two, he averaged over seven yards a clip.
(38:07):
He looked like he was going to be a top
one hundred player, like he looked awesome. Donovan Edwards was
sick and so Donovan Edwards looked really good. Brady Cook
jumping over to Brady Cook maybe being QB three. Oh boy,
here we go. I know this always comes up. DJ
(38:27):
Jerdy Couch heard me say, your Nicks is Boy Green
and Nets fan? Hell no, how many Nets fans are
there even on this planet? Okay, No, I'm not a
bleepant NETS fan. And I know what I'm about to
say is going to be controversial because people forget the
NBA team that I have, Like you see it up
here right there's this NBA champagne up here that I
can open when my team wins a championship. And I
(38:50):
should probably just open this up right now because we
know it's gonna happen. And again, as Boy Green, the
Jets guy, you don't want to hear this. People, you
don't want to hear this, but I will tell you it.
I am a Boston Celtics fan, and I know that
makes people angry. How did the Boston the Jets? How
did that all happen? My father was born in Godnam, Mass.
(39:12):
My mother was born in Rhode Island. If you want
someone to blame, don't blame me, blame my parents. Okay.
That's why I'm a Celtics guy.
Speaker 8 (39:21):
That's why.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
Okay, And I know it's disgusting people don't like it. Okay,
but here's the thing. I wish the best of luck,
and I mean it to the New York next take
care of those shitty Detroit Pistons, and guess who's going
to be waiting for you in the next round. So
we'll see you. Hopefully it's competitive and we'll see what happens. Okay,
I hope. So great question from wrong verb. Let me
(39:45):
throw this up so uh okay, So, why aren't you
a Patriots fan? Excellent question. I'm a Red Sox fan.
I'm a Celtics fan. Obviously.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
I think.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
That it's a sort of obviously why I don't bring
those things up on a New York Jets show because
I imagine a lot of you guys aren't gonna be
vibing with that now. Why am I not a Patriots fan.
I don't know. I just never liked the Patriots. My
father's a Cowboys fan, my mother is a Patriots fan,
and like my entire family is eclectic. I have a
brother that's a sat fan, of brother that's a Ravens fan.
They're all over the place. So I guess there wasn't
(40:16):
that attachment to Patriots, thank God, because I hate the Patriots,
so I never liked them. But I was always a
Red Sox Celtics guy. And then my dad tried to
make me a Cowboys fan because he's a Cowboys fan.
And then when terrible things are happening to the Cowboys,
I felt nothing. But my dad was on the ground,
like in the fetal position, like when the Cowboys made
these boneheaded things that cost them games, right, he was like,
(40:37):
ah geez, And I felt nothing. But then I said
to myself, you know, a fan has to live on
the edge. They have to feel the highs and the lows.
That's the cool part of being a fan, riding through
the highs and lows and things of that nature. So
I was looking for a team, and God rest his
soul right there. My grandfather is the reason I'm a
Jets fan. When I was a young kid, he gave
(40:58):
me the nickname the jet Jet, and I guess it
was because I was bolting around. I have no idea why,
and he kept making me do this jet chant and
I'm like, we would do it, you go, Joey, and
I'm like, what, Grandpa, what the hell? Who the hell
are the Jets? And he's like, what the hell, let's
turn on the tube and boom. I was shoke twenty
(41:19):
something years ago, and I've been a diehard fan ever since.
It's the truth. So no patriots, never been patriots, never
will be patriots. Let's not mix the lines. I'm a
Jet guy until I'm dead. I'm all in on the Jets.
It's the sport I care about the most. It's everything,
A hundred percent. Taron Selsa's pour one out for Grandpa.
(41:40):
Damn straight baby absolutely loved the Jets boycott Activision says
Grandpa was a good man, and I love being a
part of this community. It's awesome. But for like I said,
for obvious reasons, I don't really bring up the Red
Sox or Celtics stuff, but I may bring it up
a little bit in the next round. I may need
to bring it up a little more in the next
round when the Celtics are beating the next square garden
(42:05):
the better garden, TD, got it. We'll get into that.
I'll get into character when when when business is required.
But hey, Celtics up three one, Nicks up three to one.
We'll see in the next round. Baby, and my radio
partner is a diehard Knicks fan. Oh, I can't wait
until we're in the studio together for this series. Oh, baby,
(42:29):
in due time, in due time. Any who. That's making
me tear up a little baby. Any who, Let's go
back to the phone line. We got happier on the show.
What's up peppen?
Speaker 11 (42:36):
Hey, Paul?
Speaker 9 (42:38):
Just to quick jump on, I was thinking about Smith,
our new wide receiver. He can pair up well with
as far as feels throwing the ball because fields can
really throw really.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
A long way, and he's more. This makes no sense.
I need someone to probably explain this to me. Right,
So you'd think if me and Justin fields are like
ten yards apart, like that would be an easier throw
for Justin fields. But actually his accuracy deep is terrific
from what I hear, and I have to look at
some of the deeper level numbers. But from what I
hear and what bears and seers into the deep ball
(43:12):
he could hit, I'm like, well, how the hell does
that make any sense? But any of who? So, yeah,
that part excites me. Taking the top off a defense.
Speaker 11 (43:19):
Yeah, come on, now, well, Smith was out running.
Speaker 10 (43:21):
He was out running the He was running so fast
that he got to run back.
Speaker 1 (43:25):
He had to come back for back, right, I know,
that's awesome.
Speaker 10 (43:28):
The only thing I suggest.
Speaker 9 (43:31):
He introduced himself, and I said, welcome to the Jets,
young man. Just a couple of suggestions. One is living
living justin Field's back pocket, and the other one is
start juggling bricks.
Speaker 10 (43:44):
That's an old Jerry Rice drink.
Speaker 1 (43:45):
Hey, right, Hey, if Jerry Resh did it, you should
do it.
Speaker 4 (43:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (43:49):
Yeah, he did pretty good. You know.
Speaker 9 (43:51):
I think that's what Jerry Rice was. He worked with
his father, bricks, bricks. I mean that guy, that's amazing
that I would be probably be part of my regiment.
I said, this is it, guys, all the wide receivers
go to the brick counter.
Speaker 1 (44:03):
Right, and I'm sure he's going to do the goofy
thing we all did in high school. If we fumbled
or dropped the pass. My coach put a football in
my hand and for practice he would duct tape it
around my body and you're just carrying this for the
rest of practice. I'm like, okay. And then when practice
is over, thankfully, they cut off the duct tape and
I said, you're walking around. You're going to your math
class top the ball high and tight, and I'm like, okay, coach.
(44:26):
And everywhere we went school, this all sleeping at night,
I'm kind of leg up with the football and until
you don't drop the football. So hey, man, Arian's got
to do whatever he's got to do because that God
given speed. It would be a shame for that to.
Speaker 4 (44:40):
Go to waste.
Speaker 1 (44:41):
I agree, Thanks guys, appreciate it half. Thanks for the call. Brother. Yeah.
Arian Smith obviously is getting beat the hell up by
Jet fans right now, and I get it. He's the
only I know all the numbers. He's the only power
for player in college football. Last year to have double
digit drops. He had ten drops. He'd a sixteen point
seven percent drop rate on catchbow passes. That is awful,
(45:03):
absolutely awful. But I said it the same thing with
Josh on the other day. I didn't think if you're
not actur in college, how could you possibly get acurate
at the NFL level. If you can't catch a college
how could you possibly catch footballs at the next level.
Confidence is a big thing. If you instill confidence in
a player and you tell him he's great. And apparently
the Jets when Aaron Smith was drapped, they said, you're special.
(45:24):
We see something special in you. You build up the
confidence in his head. He makes a couple of players
and boom, he's off. I think confidence is a big part.
It's kind of like kickers. I never thought it'd be
making a kicker comp but coming off the hep call
feels appropriate for kickers. You think all the kickers can
sort of do the kicking thing. It's the mental part.
They all have the talent to kick it this, that
(45:45):
or the other. Now, maybe some can't kick it sixty
five yards or something because they don't have the leg,
But for the most part, it's a confidence issue, right.
Mental they believe in themselves and if they do, you're
in a momentum. Greg Zerlin, right, a lot of people
believe the Jets are just gonna move on and go
to some other kicker who they did sign a UDFA kicker,
and we talked about that yesterday, But did they eventually
(46:07):
move on Greg Zirlin? What was it two years ago
if you don't count this latter. So two years ago
he had one of the best Jets kicking seasons of
all time. He was thirty five of thirty eight. He
was terrific. It was clutch, it was lega trod. Unfortunately,
that season sucked for the Jets, so it was kind
of all for not But then when the season should
it could have would have mattered, he ended up blowing
him all last year. But again, it's confidence. Greg Zerlin's
(46:30):
a former Pro Bowl kicker, former All Pro kicker. Of
course he knows what he should be doing. But it's confidence.
It's mental, mental, mental. So I'm intrigue by Orinemisso if
Philliam says, hey, he can be a returnment god, I
hope so, because Xavier Gibson's been a tough watch and
I hope he could be that deep threat. I'd love
nothing more than seeing Justin Fields on cork a bomb
(46:52):
for a tuddy and it finds in the waiting arms
of one Arian Smith. I mean, us Jet fans are
going to get excited when we see that in the
pre season, when we see Brady Cook get it, Brady
Cook and then also Brady Cooked and he's on cork
and bombs to Harriet Smith for fifty yard touchdowns in
the preseason. Hell yeah, that can rev my engine. I'm
(47:13):
excited about it. So hey, now let's go. And I
would also say this, all right, j boys bringing it up.
We shouldn't hate this kid over Allen's drop history. Definitely not.
But the thing I would just say about this is
what we said.
Speaker 4 (47:27):
Before the draft.
Speaker 1 (47:27):
Remember the lesson that we said. I said, whoever the
Jets draft, whether you like them or not, we will
embrace them as Jet fans, and we will hope for
the best, because what other choice do we have. We're
going to root for someone to be terrible all the Jets.
And no, that doesn't make any sense. So the Jets
have drafted this young man. They believed in this young man,
(47:49):
they brought him in for a top thirty visit, and
now we must embrace this young man and hope he
seeses the day. Maybe he won't, I don't know, but
let's see what happens real quick. I've seen a few
more comments about this Isaiah Bond. Isaiah Bond signed, Isaiah Bond,
the Texas wide receiver. That's what all these people said.
(48:10):
How did Isaiah Bond not get drafted? How did Isaiah
Bond not get drafted? Well, while at one point he
was heralded as his high pick, he has some off
the field issues that he's dealing with here. Okay, some
off the field concerns of things going on. I don't
(48:32):
have his full story in front of me, so I
don't want to speak at a turn, but you guys
can hit the Google machine on Isaiah Bond.
Speaker 11 (48:41):
Here.
Speaker 1 (48:41):
It is so sports illustrated. I'll just bring it up
real quick here. This is Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond.
He was not selected in the draft. Part of the draft,
Bond turned himself in into Frisco, Texas Police Department on
an outstanding warrant for sexual assault before being released on bond.
He then filed the federal against a woman that accused
him of sexual assault. He released his statement after turning
(49:03):
himself in when he maintained his innocence regarding the quote
regarding the accusation made against me, I would appreciate the
time and opportunity to defend myself and prove the claims
made patently false. I am in full cooperation with the
authorities will remain a willing and active participant in the investigation. Unfortunately,
it cames like these proved to be harmful to all
involved absent full review. I kindly request that all reserve
(49:24):
judgment until the authorities provide a complete report based on
the truth and the evidence. And so far that process continues.
So so no Isaiah Bond for the current Yeah, all right,
let's get a few comments in here, then we'll go
back to the phone launch here. Ja boy says he
(49:49):
said that bag of one hundred gest to gleud right now,
if you were to cut Allen Lazard today, Hey, there's
still a chance to get traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers
if Aaron heads over there. So they'll keep that in mind. Yo,
Holmes one hundred percent. This time for draft criticism is over.
We all had time to vent now better or worth.
These are our guys. Let's go. That's a good way
to put at your homes. That's a good way to
put it. Yeah, all right, let's go to the phone line.
(50:12):
It's been a while since we had this guy on
the show, Let's go to n y JKO. Baby, what's
going on?
Speaker 4 (50:16):
Man? So good morning brother, how you doing.
Speaker 1 (50:18):
Yeah, it's been two damn long. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (50:20):
Man, it was a couple of times I tuned into
this show and I think it was just like I'm
about to go to the radio station.
Speaker 4 (50:27):
I'm like, wow, Dlody.
Speaker 1 (50:30):
Glady called in. We got time now.
Speaker 6 (50:32):
Yeah, man, I definitely want to say that this regime
did their thing with the draft.
Speaker 3 (50:38):
I love that.
Speaker 4 (50:39):
On my memo pick, I kind of figured he was
either going to get him.
Speaker 6 (50:44):
Because after watching the combine and for a man to
be that massive and to move how you move and
great past blocker, great run blockers like it was it
was a home run. There's no way you can pass that.
It's no way, it's no way you can pass it.
Then we know we're young and all while we have
for Sean on the other side. Then for the next
(51:04):
ten plus years, you know, got a v T who
showed went healthy, he could be all pro guard keeping
mac guard got Tipman in the middle. So I like,
I like, I love the pick because I was at
Penn State. I have to go watch my brother play
spring ball, and yeah, guy, chances meet Todd Warren a
dual Carter wasn't there, but you know, great, it was
(51:26):
a great sight.
Speaker 4 (51:29):
But for the most part, I love I love I
love azy times.
Speaker 6 (51:33):
I loved that pick. Like you can see the guy,
the guy like he can scratch his ankles, long arms,
god busted. He played, he played good in coverage I watched.
I watched a couple of games before the State.
Speaker 4 (51:45):
The guy. The guy's all over the place.
Speaker 6 (51:48):
It's hard to complete the pass on him because he
really he forced his quarterback to make a perfect pass.
Basically because you know his attangibles, you know the speed
he breaks on the ball. Malaco more. I like that
pick because he can play in the slot. He could
play in the box. You know, it's jack of all
trays basically in the secondary.
Speaker 4 (52:07):
What else?
Speaker 6 (52:08):
I like the linebacker from from the you that he
picked up what's his name? Oh yeah, Keiko? Yes that
that guy with him got him. Sherwood and Quincy all
fast guys. But but that guy, he flies to.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
The world and he's he's he's got, he's got coverage.
Speaker 6 (52:27):
Great and coverage. He definitely gets a lot of tf ls.
But the only thing, my only issue with uh one
part in the draft was we didn't draft a defensive
That's the only thing that bothered him, because you know,
I wanted Dion Deon Walker from Kentucky de Tagle Buffalo
(52:49):
guys him. I feel like Buffalo was really doing things
to Tony annoy his purposely. Yeah, and I'm like, you know,
I'm like, if we get this guy along Quin along
Quinn Wings and the guys we have already, we're gonna
wrek have it every week because we got we got
a plugging play guy who can rush the past, to
(53:10):
close the pockets, play the run well. Get Jamaine Johnson
Hoo can set the edge. You know, I think Will
McDonald he you know, he's actually good at the run.
I watched him last year. He can actually play a
gets the.
Speaker 4 (53:21):
Run very well.
Speaker 6 (53:23):
He might not be the best, but he can definitely
play the run well. You know, we know we can
do as far as get at the passes. So yeah,
you know, we're definitely looking young. And I love it,
you know, And it's the best old line. Just Justin
Fhiels played behind is gonna do. And you know I
saw a lot of Justin.
Speaker 4 (53:42):
Being negative about you know, Arian Smith.
Speaker 6 (53:45):
You know one thing in this game. You can't coach
the speed for sure. You can't coach speed.
Speaker 4 (53:51):
You know.
Speaker 6 (53:51):
Hell, I'm pretty sure he gonna be with guys like
the likes of Garrett Wilson, who's gonna gonna help him
get better as far as catching the passes. Man, But
one thing for sure, if somebody slower to him, I put.
Speaker 4 (54:03):
My money on him. I got my money on him.
Speaker 6 (54:05):
Blown Bytom every chance he can't put a line back
with that guy's he's fast. I watched him play this
year too. He he definitely has blazing speed, blazing like
the guy can you can't. Like it's like, you can't.
You can't try to gym him and miss him because
it's over.
Speaker 1 (54:23):
He's gone, you know.
Speaker 6 (54:24):
And with Justin justin physics, we know he could throw
that ball. Just Trailer has a kin on him. So
I can't wait to see, you know, I think what
it's telling me. As far as height end, I believe
that we got faith in Geremany Rutgers. You know, shot
the Jeremy Rutgers because he's a Long Island native. I'm
from Long Island, so I love to see you see
a guy get opportunity and do his thing. And it's
basically it's like renamed the college again. And don't and
(54:48):
don't be surprised if Jeremy Rooker have a breakout year,
don't be surprised. Don't be surprised at all. You know,
I'm telling people that, don't be surprised because you know,
he has a quarterback that knows him, knows where.
Speaker 4 (54:58):
You know, we're going to be a he knows.
Speaker 6 (55:00):
I just I know he's gonna put the ball over here.
I'mna be right there. So we got a good, a
good young team. That's one thing I like about the draft.
You know, we got very young, young and athletic, frequently athletic.
So you know, I really I can't wait. I can't
wait till this until this season kicked off, because I'm
definitely gonna.
Speaker 4 (55:18):
Lose my mind. I can see it already. You know,
Aaron Glynn, old school guy. I believe.
Speaker 6 (55:24):
I believe he's gonna bring the best out of the secondary,
you know, specifically. Yeah, I think I think he's gonna
have guys. So it's going to be a much better
tackle under under him.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
I hope better, you know.
Speaker 6 (55:38):
And I saw a lot of people was against you know,
a g but I'm like the guy played, you know,
the guy, the guy knows exactly he knows, he knows
the New York Jets and look at the Detroit Lions
defense that he had no glays.
Speaker 4 (55:51):
He had the guys flying around everybody.
Speaker 6 (55:54):
You know, but if it wasn't for them guys being hurt,
you know, the AID and hunter sins and you know,
because I think the whole like had they started Universe, it.
Speaker 4 (56:01):
Was hurt, it was on.
Speaker 1 (56:02):
Yeah, they had like eleven event sure, because there are
so many that eleven starters throughout the year ended up
on I r as definitely.
Speaker 6 (56:09):
But look look at just look how the trick was
eleven stock the league. Now that these guys super bow attenders,
and you know, it's just like wow, like look like
they turnaround and getting the right guys and really just
you know, make the city just go go insane again.
Speaker 4 (56:25):
You know. So but I know, you know what what
picked surprised me. Kenn Grant.
Speaker 6 (56:29):
I believe that if we didn't get Mason Graham, I
had I had Kendi Grant going us in the second round.
Speaker 1 (56:35):
He went he went thirteen Miami.
Speaker 4 (56:37):
Yeah, I was actually shocked.
Speaker 6 (56:39):
I'm like, wow, nobody too, where's rich But I'm like,
nobody had him rad it in the first round, like wow,
because I'm like, I'm like Mason Gren. Don't think we're
gonna get him. But I said, we don't get him.
You gotta get Kenni Grant because Kendi Green he closed
that pocket. He's a very strong man. Or even what
about is Chris Jenkots Junior.
Speaker 1 (57:00):
He's for the Bengals. I believe he was a top
fifty pick last year. Yeah, yeah, see, but you know
I would have loved him. I would have loved him.
That would y Yeah, you know it's just oh and
shout that Mason Taylor.
Speaker 6 (57:13):
I'm an LSU guys, Baby, Mason Taylor is gonna he's
going to be a stud.
Speaker 4 (57:18):
He's going to be a stud. And that right now,
he's going to be a stud. Like the guys. Just
dangerous all over the field. You know, you want to
show in the media. He could do in the media.
You know, he can stretch the field.
Speaker 6 (57:30):
And he's very physical too. He's physical in the run game.
So it's we're looking good. I'm loving it. I just
can't wait.
Speaker 4 (57:37):
I kill you. You know, we see it on Sunday.
That's yeah, well, unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (57:42):
We'll see if it happens. N Y j k Oh,
thanks for the call, brother, good call, good call. Great
to have you back on the show. And I love
that you have faith in Jeremy record. God, I help
you right. The connection with Justin Fields can't hurt, I guess,
but I will be very blunt. I am very low
on Jeremy record. I will discuss that more at three.
We're going to talk about the winners and losers from
(58:02):
this draft. But Molief, I don't think it's humanly possible
for me to be any lower on Jeremy record than
I am like to be bluncked. I mean again, we'll
get more into that at three o'clock. I'll try it.
I'll try to hold hold cause yikes, but Mason Taylor
(58:23):
stuck up having a tight end and a plan to
use it. That's great, Cops, first time concerned. Five hundred
plus people in the room like the video. Hit subscribe baby.
If you're watching on Facebook or Twitter, open up a
new tab. Hop over on your phone, or if you're
watching another computer, go over to YouTube dot com. Slash
Boygreen Chu five. We're trying to get to ten thousand subscribers.
I believe we're two point three thousand away. So chip chip,
(58:45):
Chip chip, and we'll see if we could get there. Baby,
I love doing this. Let's go, Let's go back to
the phone lines. Ricky in New York Life.
Speaker 10 (58:54):
I'll let it go on, Paul, Hey, what's going on
over Hey?
Speaker 1 (58:57):
I feel like it's almost like Jordan Travis. There's a
bad signal and Ricky shows up.
Speaker 13 (59:04):
Yeah I know, but I literally just walked in during
your last phone call, so I have no idea what
you were talking about before.
Speaker 1 (59:10):
Okay, excellent, Okay, great.
Speaker 13 (59:13):
So at any rate, I don't think there's really that
much mix mixed signals going on with him. I mean,
Moojie didn't really address it. But the last time, like
when AG talked about it, he was like, you know,
(59:34):
I'm not a doctor, but he was like, uh, he
was like, you know, yeah, he did a lot of
good things in college. He's a damn good player, and
if he's healthy, he's going to compete. So you know
that tells me if he's healthy, he's going to compete.
And uh, now we have the cook kid to give
him a little bit of extra motivation and put a.
Speaker 1 (59:58):
Good little there.
Speaker 13 (59:59):
Yeah, so, uh, you know, I'm I'm not gonna lose sleepover.
There's nothing I can do about that situation. All I
know is I like the direction that we're heading in
as well. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know what's
up with Rutger. Uh you know, coming out of college,
(01:00:24):
I really thought he had some potential. And uh, maybe
I may be wrong about this, but uh, justin Field's
last game, they're like when they had their championship game
or whatever, did didn't Rucker catch the fucking game winner
in that game?
Speaker 1 (01:00:44):
Let me see if I could find that real quick.
Speaker 13 (01:00:46):
Let's see, man, I maybe maybe I'm wrong about that,
but I don't think I am.
Speaker 10 (01:00:52):
I could swear that I could swell about.
Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
Okay, let me go to his twenty twenty game law
here for Uh, it's possible. It's very possible. That would
be nice. Well because like Jeremy Rucerd didn't have many catches,
so that should be easier to find. Yes, in the
National Championship game. Unfortunately, Yeah, they lost the National Championship
Game twenty four to fifty two.
Speaker 10 (01:01:15):
So uh well, okay, what in the game won?
Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
But yeah, let me see here, let me see how
Jeremy Rucker. Did we have the box score here? All right,
Jeremy Record, Jimmy RUCKERD where are you up on Alabama? Whoops?
All right, let's bohrtes State? Yeah? Yeah, to one catch
for thirty six yards. It was not a touchdown though.
Speaker 10 (01:01:33):
Okay, I must be thinking of something else.
Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
But he had good plays, don't them wrong? I mean,
the whole the whole conversation about Jeremy Record is there's
untapped potential here. This is a guy that Ohio State
you a kajillion wide receivers. He didn't get a lot
of rock obviously, look at all the other town on
the team, but boy, the times he did catch it.
He had one handers in this crazy Look at he's here.
(01:01:58):
He could come here. What's the conversation? And unfortunately we
haven't seen it yet. And the most disappointing part to
me is actually not the receiving, while we did have
high expectations for that, that he showed clubses here and
he could be this.
Speaker 14 (01:02:09):
The blocking is the thing that I am just baffled
by because you would have thought he could have been
our h back, fullback guy at a bare minimum, which
made me stockwise when they draft him, say, oh, at
least I know it's floors here here, can't be any
worse than at least this, And unfortunately we haven't seen
that at this level, which is crazy to think about.
Speaker 13 (01:02:28):
Yeah, you know what, I was about to say that too,
Like when we drafted him, that's all I heard was like, Oh,
he's a pitfull in the run game, he's this, that,
And man, I don't know, maybe maybe blocking the bigger,
stronger grown men in the NFL is just not as easy.
Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
Just that simple, maybe, I guess.
Speaker 10 (01:02:50):
Yeah, I mean, you know what, not for nothing that happens.
Speaker 13 (01:02:55):
There's there's guys in college that that you watch their
tape and you're like, oh, this guy's a beast, But
it's just because they're bigger, stronger than all the other
kids that age, and they can just throw them around.
And then all of a sudden they get into a
league where everybody's just as big and strong as they are,
and they're not very impressive. So, I mean, I've definitely
(01:03:16):
seen that a time or two. And you know what,
I'm not gonna sweat our draft. Like Glenn got guys
that fit his system, fit his culture. Uh so that
makes me happy. And I'm not gonna sweat other people's
drafts either, because you know what, uh.
Speaker 10 (01:03:36):
Yeah, you know what.
Speaker 4 (01:03:37):
Uh.
Speaker 13 (01:03:37):
The Patriots, they got Travion Henderson, super fast blah blah blah,
but had injury concerns in college, got banged up a lot,
didn't stay healthy a lot.
Speaker 10 (01:03:50):
Uh.
Speaker 13 (01:03:51):
They also got Kyle Williams, which you know, I was
real big on Kyle Williams. You know what, a z
handled him at the senior ball and shut his ass down.
So I'm not worried about that. You know, I'm not
really overly concerned with anything that anybody else did. I
(01:04:18):
think we're I think we're in decent shape. And man,
I'll tell you what. For a while, I was saying, like,
you know, hey, if Fields doesn't work out, you know,
we can always grab like Drew Aller or something next year. However,
(01:04:38):
listen to Aaron Glenn and you know how he wants
the dual threat quarterback, that the guy that could really run,
which which don't get me wrong, I mean Drew Aller
can run. I mean he's not like a running quarterback,
but he's he's mobile. But then, like there's a guy
(01:04:58):
that I watched the movies cond and I've talked to
back and forth. That was like, yeah, man, he was like,
I'm getting ready to do like my way too early mock.
And I'm like, oh, you're for next year, all right,
you're kidding me, Like you know. Uh, I was like, so,
who are you gonna have the jets taken? And he
(01:05:20):
was like and he cited all those things that I
just said about Aaron Glenn in the kind of direction
He's like, you know what, he was like, I really
like uh Leonora's Sellers from South Carolina for you guys.
I think that's gonna be the thing. And so I
was like, okay, man, I went back and watched the tape.
Holy cow, this kid has got wheels on him. I mean,
(01:05:45):
you know you talk about like that Justin Field's you
know quarterback that can take off and run like that.
This guy can really really run. And he's he's good
from the pocket too. Like so I'm and he was
a freshman, you know, rest freshman or whatever. But I'm like,
holy cow, that's uh that fits in with our getting
(01:06:08):
everybody extra young too. So uh now I got another
prospect that I'm gonna have to really keep an eye
on this upcoming year. But yeah, at any rate, Yeah,
I'm not gonna over stress about anything that happened in
the draft, because hell, we win that.
Speaker 4 (01:06:25):
We used to.
Speaker 13 (01:06:26):
We win the draft almost every year and then thinks
don't work out so and everybody thinks we didn't do
a good night. Well that just means we got a
really good season in store for us. So I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (01:06:40):
Well, awesome, thanks for the call, Ricky. I appreciate it.
Oh man, Let's let's get through. There's a lot of
connective tissue here. Let's go to a super chat shadow here.
This is from Hennessee Heisman. Every time we get one
of those, we're from my daughters Ryolina. Everyone loved Coraley,
(01:07:01):
but he couldn't see the field, which feeds into another comment.
We got Hennessy Heisman, So let's throw that up and
thank you for being a member on the channel for
seven months. Appreciate the support. Pal Uh. We got this
from Stephen Fox, who asked, do you think there's a
chance Malachi Corley improves this season? Well, it's gonna be
hard for him to disappoint anymore. I mean, he was here.
(01:07:24):
It's gonna be hard not to improve by default, because
you get too much worse I made, you know, but
in all honesty jokes aside, this is a brand new
coaching staff. We'll see what happens. You obviously have Garrett
Wilson up top. You got your two physical blocking receivers,
and Josh Reynolds and Almlas our possession solid guys. And
(01:07:47):
then you kind of have this mosh posh mix of
Malachi Corley's like a gadget receiver. You have Arian Smith,
who's a speedster. You have this Tyler Johnson, who's this
young cat who's sort of interesting. So like, how to
wide receiver three, four, whatever you want to call it,
because I don't know who wider dure two is. But however,
the math works of like who of that group wins
(01:08:10):
of those three? Malachi Corley, Tyler Johnson, Arian Smith, who
wins of that group? That's what I'm sort of curious about.
So can he improve? It'll be hard for him not to,
but we'll see what happens. I'm rooting for the young man.
He made a stupid ass mistake last year and that
was the telltale of the season. Unfortunately, hopefully he matured up.
(01:08:31):
Hopefully he attacks this out. He looks like he's in
great shape. I saw some of the photos. I wrote
a piece about a couple of weeks ago, like, wow,
he looks jocked. I mean he looks he looks like
he's in great shape. But a few people accused him
of looking like Tarzan playing like Jane. So you're gonna
need to see a different mentality from one Malachi Corley
as far as I'm concerned. But if he attacks this thing,
(01:08:51):
he's got a chance. He's obviously very talented. The yeah King,
you got a YouTube super check coming in here from
our boy. Easy, Wow, Rutcker can block Eith Carter was
the coach. Maybe that's it easy. Maybe you're right, my friend,
that Jeremy Rucker is better than we think, but the
coaching was so shitty that we couldn't tell possible. I
(01:09:13):
will leave that door open for that possibility. Yes, I
will possible within the realm of possibilities, hopefully. Like I said,
if I'm the Jets, here's what I'm doing. If I'm
the Jets, here's what I'm doing. Okay, I'm saying, Jeremy,
you're playing fullback or whatever you want to call that,
full back, age back whatever. We're like, that's where you're
lining up and you're going to block the bleep out
(01:09:36):
of guys, and every once in a while we'll throw
you football. But as far as you're concerned, you are
captain blocking and we will see what you do with
that energy and everything else in between. But that my
expectations are quite low one Jeremy Rucker. But when my
expectations were high, he disappointed. If we lower the bar,
maybe it'll be easier to impress.
Speaker 4 (01:09:57):
We will see.
Speaker 1 (01:09:57):
We got five hundred people in the room. Like the
video hit some. We are now graced by the presence
by guy who's not underwhelming. He's not the Jeremy Record
of jet Schollars. He may be the Mason Taylor of
jet cars. Hell, he may be the Jason Taylor of
jet collars. Terrence Hall of Famer. Jorded us here on
this show except Terrence.
Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
So what's up are you doing?
Speaker 1 (01:10:15):
Boom? Your mic problems are magically fixed, Terrence? You sound christy?
Speaker 3 (01:10:20):
Oh good?
Speaker 1 (01:10:20):
Yeah, yeah, sound great.
Speaker 15 (01:10:22):
What happened was my for some reason, the webcam mic
was hooked up to my computer. I see whoever who
ever put that in the comment, thank.
Speaker 1 (01:10:32):
You, okay, yeah, thank you for whoever that was I
remember that. They they said that the wrong might seem
to switch show and thank you for whoever said that.
Appreciate it, Terrence. It's great to have your back, brother.
Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
Yes, it's good to be back. Good to be back,
Good to have the draft over.
Speaker 1 (01:10:47):
Yeah, Mirror, it's funny.
Speaker 15 (01:10:49):
I got a lot of things obviously haven't called. Sure,
yeah right, yeah, But everybody who's.
Speaker 3 (01:10:55):
Talking about these defensive.
Speaker 15 (01:10:56):
Tackles mm hmm, Hey, we didn't draft on it was
so many, Well shouldn't there be so many undrafted defensive tackles.
Speaker 1 (01:11:07):
We did get one guy. His name is either a
Fatoruma or fat Orma. People are preferring fat Orma because
maybe that can indicate what he can possibly provide the
Jets as a run stuffer, but that is TBD. He's
the one defensive tackle I've seen. But again, someone also asked,
I'll just address this. They said, hey, Paul, can you
run through the list of undrafted free agents? Everything is reported,
(01:11:27):
it's not official yet. The Jets when they officially sign
all of them, they're gonna give an announcement and then
we could properly go through all of them, like Brady
Cook was reported. I talked about him today, So we'll
wait one set's official, then we could sort of really
go through the entire list. But right now, I think
I've only seen one defensive tackle reported and it's that
kid from International Waters.
Speaker 15 (01:11:50):
So that's cool, man. I mean, I mean we're not,
you know, just the first disease, first year, first draft. Yeah,
you're not gonna get everything in the first draft course,
but I think we got up and and I just
want to reiterate what I said before since you didn't
hear me because of the micy Yeah. Right, Aaron Glenn
is producing a team of players that are competing within
(01:12:11):
each other where it's like Michael Clemens last year, he
was horrible. We hate him, but maybe it wasn't him.
Maybe it was the coaching. That's why he's still on
the team. Alan Lizzard same thing, right, couldn't catch. Maybe
it was the coaching. I just quoted a new thing
called the school of hard drops. That's what the Jets
(01:12:35):
are doing with these receivers. Set me tell you what
they're gonna do.
Speaker 3 (01:12:41):
Three. It's three that I know, right. Priese Hall dropped
a few last year.
Speaker 15 (01:12:45):
Aaron Lizzard, he dropped a few, few, few few few
last year and everybody's talking about this Smith guy can't catch.
Speaker 10 (01:12:52):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:12:53):
Well, here's the deal.
Speaker 15 (01:12:54):
Let's say they compete and there's the first, second, third place,
and first place at least the amount of drops, and
they get a five hundred thousand dollars signing bonus something
like that. Something that these guys can compete to to
not drop a catch that towards the end of the season,
they're gonna get some.
Speaker 3 (01:13:12):
Reward, like we all love rewards.
Speaker 4 (01:13:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 15 (01:13:16):
Sure, that's another lane of competition, as you could put
guys that have problems dropping the catch in that situation.
Instead of having one guy on your team consistently dropping passes,
now you got three and they're all competing not to
drop catches. That might help them. Like you said earlier,
(01:13:37):
with competition. That one guy, the one that called in
that you said didn't call in for a while, Yeah,
he had an awesome tape.
Speaker 3 (01:13:46):
Good call, brother.
Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
OK.
Speaker 15 (01:13:48):
The team is forming perfect not perfectly, but it's forming
into that perfect realm. And so guys, the Jets are
going to shock the world this year. Put on your
seatbelt and let's go for this vibe. Don't get you,
don't don't get don't get heart problem, because when you're
on that rola coaster, you might catch a heart attack
(01:14:10):
and missed the end of the season.
Speaker 1 (01:14:12):
I don't want to try.
Speaker 3 (01:14:14):
I want to be calm, collected, be relaxed. He hyped up.
Put them seatbelts on, stopping tight.
Speaker 10 (01:14:22):
Un.
Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
Peace y'all, Let's go Jts. I haven't done this in
a while. Let's dust this one off. Here we go.
We'll be doing that for a Jets tailgate, baby again.
More details to come, I'll tell you this. I was
on the phone with Chef Kevin Gilbert last night and
(01:14:45):
we were putting together a potential menu for the Boy
Green tailgate where he's going to be catering. So folks,
that's going to for a little bit of a tease.
We got the schedule coming out in two weeks. Okay,
We've got with the schedule coming out in two weeks,
we're gonna be taking a Jets home game. We're gonna
be doing a big tailgate before the game. We're gonna
pick the game. We're gonna have a nice little food menu.
We're gonna have tickets group ticket discount where you guys
(01:15:09):
can all sit together. Boy Green and everybody else, so
that'll be terrific. So we're working on that behind the scenes.
Hope you guys are ready for the for the first
ever official Boy Green Tailgate special. We're working on that
behind the scenes. Now. I had this question. I think
it was from Luca. Let me see where was Luca's question?
School of hard Drops. That's funny. Oh yeah, so Luca
(01:15:29):
asked about the offseason schedule for the Jets. Here it is.
So they're already been doing voluntary workout programs for the
last three weeks. They have a voluntary mini camp which
already happened. That was last week twenty first to the
twenty third. OTAs get started in a little less than
a month. That is May twentieth is when they start,
(01:15:51):
and those who'll run through June fifth. You have three
different sets of them. May twentieth through the twenty second,
the twenty eight through the thirtieth, and June second through
the fifth. Mary Minichamp is June tenth through the twelfth,
and then the team will break and then you have
training camp which will be late July. So that is
the schedule coming up there for you, Lucas. We've got
plenty of things to talk about. It will be a
(01:16:12):
lot of fun again. Oga start in the third week
in May. Then they run through early June. Then we'll
have a week break or a couple of day break
excuse me, not a week break in the midstory mini
camp the tenth of the twelfth, and then the team
departs and we go on the great break for training camp.
So I can't friggin wait, Baby, it's gonna be a
lot of fun. We've got another super chat coming in, baby,
(01:16:36):
let's put that one up on the big board. Yeah,
let's go for Lily into Big D Baby. All right,
let's put that towards for Lily's totals. So for this month,
appreciate it. Thank you kindly with your prior super chat
combinations for Lily. You just got yourself two raffle tickets
(01:16:57):
beautiful two more, and you've now tied yourself with d
Wife for Life aka Devin with the twenty six. Will
update the board here in just a moment. Let's hope
the winner of that doesn't have ten drops love the
School of our Drops. Let's uh please hope not ten
drops feels like a very large number, to be honest.
Let's hope that does not happen. That would be That'd
(01:17:20):
be my hope. And like I said, we'll see if
you know, we could get some more love in that category,
but not drops. No, thank you, But I do sort
of like the idea. I mean, I don't think we
should have to incentivize people that make millions of dollars
with more bags of money. But whatever works, man, whatever works,
(01:17:40):
So we'll see. But thank you for a lily for
the super chat banter updated twenty six Raffle tickets for
you and D and WY for life. And I agree
with R and R. It's okay to be positive. It's
totally free again. I you guys are probably tired of
hearing this, but I say this phrase all the time.
I try to live my life by this, my truck.
(01:18:01):
We do not control the cards we are dealt in life,
and that can mean all kinds of things. Born with
some deficiency, born into poverty, born into this, or even
like your job right your your boss is in a
crappy mood. You can't control that what you can control
or any anything in your life. Suddenly our lives are
(01:18:21):
hit with something intense. I can't control the random things
that are dropping in my life. By that, But what
I can control is how I react to it. I
can't control the cards that are dealt, but I can
control how I respond to the cards. And I believe
truly in my bones that if you have a positive disposition,
that can be infectious energy and if you attack things
with the right mentality. Okay, and it's not always easy.
Speaker 3 (01:18:44):
I'm not saying it is.
Speaker 1 (01:18:45):
You know, when you get punched in the face, it's
hard to smile, But I feel like that's a way
to go. I think that's the way to go, is
to control the way that you look at things. With
that being said, thank you to everybody joining us here
on the program. Shout out to Terrence, Welcome back, brother,
glad to hear your We got your mic issues all
(01:19:06):
cleared up. We got nearly six hundred people in the room.
Like the video hit subscribe. We will be back on
Live today at three o'clock, myself James Woody. We will
be deeming winners and los us from the Jets draft
and they will be specific things. Again, you guys will
sort of understand the theme when we get there Live
at three o'clock. I'll be at the radio station, but
(01:19:27):
we're deeming winners and losers from the draft who water
lost because of the Jets decisions. It's not just draft
grades a ABCD, we did that yesterday, but this is
about the winners and losers from the draft. I think
you guys are gonna really like this. A lot of
creativity here, but like the video, hit subscribe. Thanks for
supporting baby again. Another shout out to my beautiful fiance love.
The new baseball jet skier sort of merged here, very nice,
(01:19:50):
the cursive Jets lettering. Thank you very much, honey, and hey,
now we got more coming up on the show. We'll
see you guys at three o'clock. Take care and be
good to thy neighbor again. You can't control the cards
your dealt life, but you can control how you respond
to them. Keep that in mind. We'll see at three o'clock.
Take care,
