Highest structure yeah, so yeah, even a super sticker and
I'm not talking about what happened, and that's my boy
in the guest roole. But anyways, this show is going
to be special. I went to the tallest structure in
the world, more than a half mile high. I was
closer to God than anyone could get Shia being in
a space shuttle. Sure, I got some insights, ins and outs,
(04:52):
and ready to talk about them in Jets football.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Well, one of the insights you shared on the show
the other day, Pop was that the New Year York
Knicks have a zero point zero percent chance of beating
the Boston Celtics in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
And a lot of people are migrating over because again,
I haven't been on the Facebook page in a long time,
so it's going to take some time to get more
people over there on the Facebook side. But Scott would
(05:18):
like to share a nugget he has with you saying
the Celtics have a zero point zero percent chance of
winning the championship end quote. Suck it, Pop.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Well, you know, Scott's that's pretty original. But I'm glad
you brought that up because I didn't divulge all the
information I received. Oh there was more than a nugget
out there. There's one other nugget out there. Before I
get to that, though, I have to say that you're
a moron, boy Green.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
Me why taking shots at me?
Speaker 2 (05:49):
New York Jets for Life fan came on and he
showed you his jersey. You said, is that Charles Barkley jersey?
And Charles Berkley never played for the next moron?
Speaker 1 (06:00):
I didn't say Charlee whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa
whoa whoa Rolle. I didn't say Charles Barkley. I said,
is it Barkley? I might have said Charles park Yes.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Anyways, but well, the last fun fact is the New
York Knickerbockers uh and I don't want to even google
what that means. The New York Knickerbockers have a ninety
You probably can't see a ninety five. A ninety five
point two percent chance.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
You maybe get real close to the camera will adjust
to it. Yeah, Oh, there we go.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Okay, ninety five point two percent chance of getting their
ass beat like a rented mule.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Well that's wildly specific, but we appreciate it. Yeah, there
you go, and uh yeah, shout out to as Allen says,
a great win for the Rockets last night. We're going to
game seven, baby, you get a game seven tonight, get
a game seven on Sunday. Pretty good at a boom,
but a bing there you go. Well, let's get into it.
So the topic matter of choice here is again a
lot of decisions were made by the New York Jets,
(07:01):
the things they added and things they chose not to.
And one of the things they chose not to add,
which was surprising to a lot of people, was they
did not select a defensive tackle. Thirty defensive tackles from
rounds one through round seven heard their name called, and
the Jets didn't take a single bleep in one, which
(07:21):
then tells you, did the Jets just blow it? Or
do they believe in somebody on their roster that perhaps
has a chance to make some noise?
Speaker 2 (07:32):
And what could you do the draft chimes for you? Please?
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Oh? Sure, okay, I guess.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
With every single draft pick the New York Jets do
not select their largest need.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Ah. Well, that's what someone could have said. Perhaps and
again you could just say the Jets pull it, or
perhaps was there a secret winner on the Jets roster already?
Rich some mini from the Flight Deck podcast says, yes,
another winner, Leonard Taylor the third.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
And you're thinking, why would I pick a bottom of
the roster guy, Well, the Jets did not draft a
defensive tackle. There were thirty drafted across the league. The
Jets did not draft one, despite what I feel is
a need there. They signed three low cost free agents,
none of whom really are that impressive on paper. So
(08:30):
a guy like Leonard Taylor, who flashed a little bit
last year as an undrafted rookie, really has a great
opportunity to compete and perhaps win a starting job.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Wow, could win a starting job from undrafted free agent
to line it up next to Quinnin Williams this fall.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Mmm?
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Interesting? Quiet quite quitch? Fine? Now, before we even get
to Leonard Taylor the third, I would actually like to destroy. Destroy.
That's too aggressive. Let me just the Jets signed other
guys this offseason at defensive tackle, and at the time
I thought they were warm bodies, and I am only
(09:10):
further convinced they are when you look at the contract.
They say, the eye in the sky doesn't lie. Contracts
don't lie. And I bring up the contracts here because
the Jets signed three guys. They went dumpster diving in
free agency, some bargain bin shopping, and here are the
three defensive tackles the Jets added in free agency, Byron Cowart,
(09:33):
Derek Noddy, and Jay two Feley. Now you guys probably
didn't know any of those names, but let me help
you with this, because the contracts tell the truth. Byron
Coward signed a one year deal one point three million
and had one hundred and sixty seven thousand dollars or
one hundred and sixty seven thousand and five hundred dollars guaranteed.
(09:55):
So there you go for him. So not only guaranteed,
there does he even make the roster. Let's go to
Derek Noddy, who's the most proven of these guys. He's
a three times Super Bowl champion, has all this hoopla,
was a six year starter for the Chiefs before last year,
being a rotational guy. Okay, one year deal one point
four million, four hundred seventeen five four hundred seventeen thousand,
(10:19):
five hundred dollars guaranteed, so the most guaranteed of any
of these guys, but still not much. And then you
go to J two fele one one year deal one
point one million, zero guaranteed money. So you look at
these three guys. The Jets didn't really believe in any
of them. There's no guaranteed money. There's no anything eyebrow
(10:40):
raising about any of these guys. So before we get
to Leonard Taylor, the third and not drafting of the
defensive tackle, the money tells a different story about these
three guys than what perhaps the Jets may have indicated
by signing them.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
Yeah, you know in the let me channel my inner
Bobby the rain heen in here. Wow, all right, sure,
so here we go. Yeah, so what you really said
is we signed three ham and Eggers. Sure, that would
be another way to say that. That's that's above the brain.
Three ham and Eggers, and you know the one that
(11:15):
you described that got the most money. If you do
your math, go ahead and do that. Noise from that's
my boy there for me. Okay, yeah, uh he made
one point four million, I think you said, uh this year. Yeah,
I'm pretty sure that's the veteran minimum for a in
excess of a six year veteran, right because he is
(11:36):
going to be his eighth year. Yes, yeah, yeah, So
it sounds like, oh, they gave this guy one point
four million dollars. How much do they have to give
that guy? Let me check one point yeah, but so
you signed it for what you had to sign for, yes,
and the other ones you signed them for what you
had to sign nothing.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Okay, Wich again, by the way, let me throw at
the raffle leaderboard. By the way, j boys, and in
first place he has twenty two raffle tickets so far
this month, Ast ten and second Blights with twenty Paul
text or ten, Drake Ray and DNY for Life or
Tide in that last position there with a five Raffle
tickets apiece. So you guys can continue to get involved
in that feel free And again one more shout out
to the two hundred plus people in the room if
(12:18):
you're watching on YouTube. That's how you guys can get
involved in this giveaway. And I'll throw it up one
more time. We have a New York Jets commemorative coin
with a certificate of authenticity from this past season. Very nice.
It's a very limited edition item there plus a New
York Jets signature of football. Both of those are up
for grabs this month and if you want a chance,
you just have to purchase two ninety nine on the channel. Again,
(12:38):
that could be with a boy green coffee club membership
or super chat. And yeah, so long story short, you
said exactly it. These defensive tackles are no name guys
and they didn't draft anybody, which means there either has
to be something bigger at play here, like Leonard Taylor
the third potentially being the guy.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Let's get back to him in a second. Okay, I
do believe, especially with the wherever that guy is, the
vet minimum guy. I do believe that you know, ag
is not leaving any tone, any stone unturned, and we'll
talk more about that a little later on, right. Yeah,
and if anybody, if he can get any blood out
(13:20):
of the stone, so to speak, he's going to find it.
And so he's putting he's every which way but loose.
He is going to uncover stones. It does seem like
it was a miss to not and any of the
available picks, UH to not draft any defensive tackles. But
I think that one of these players is going to
(13:42):
work out. Leonard Taylor the third is what he is.
And just for the record, you know he wasn't a
starter last year. He did play in about twenty eight
point four percent of the defensive snaps of New York
Jets game numbers. Yeah, his numbers were not going to
light the world on fire. Whether it's tackles. He did
have a pass reflection one point five sacks, Yeah, seventeen
(14:03):
tackles a couple four tackles for loss. But you know
even that with those numbers based on his playing time,
and so that's what it's not. Well, he had seventeen
tackles one point in fact, that's how you look at
for by his percentage of playing time. Right, he was
ranked in the middle of the pack. Right, he did
(14:26):
much better, much better. Not that great, but he did
better against the pass than the run, which showed both
when he was on the field and the the Jets
defensive rankings. And so I think he has the opportunity
to step up to provide more than the you know,
a third of the playing time roughly speaking, and he
can bring some more to the table. But the question
(14:49):
is still out there. Right, we didn't get the mountain
from Kentucky. Bill sniped us on that one. Yeah, we
need to we need to figure something. We need to
a couple of big fatties. So and you look at
Leonard Taylor the third there and the picture you put
up there, he's looking very svelt. So we need somebody
(15:09):
in there that, you know, we need a Vince Wilfork.
And I'm not saying that because he was a patriot.
I'm not trying to poke anybody the eye on that.
I think that was Albert Hainsworth, but I get what
you're saying. No, it was not Albert Hainesworth stomped on
a cowboy's head with his cleat Andre Girard. Yes, Vince
Wilfork actually poked the guy in the eye right in
(15:31):
front of the referee. Wow, it was during the playoffs.
But anyways, I digress. So we need to get someone
the size, and we need a Warren Sap Vince Wilford,
if you will. And I don't see that. I'm looking
around the rocks. I don't see it, but I do
trust in ag until proven different.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
Well, first off, Warren Sapp will always be too soon.
So sorry, Kyle Brady, that draft if we can nineteen
ninety five.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
But yes, you know again, l we'll start getting that
sort of going.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
But no, I'm glad, Jojo.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
It's probably politically and politically incorrect to say that's gay,
but that's gay whatever. You just did. Never do that again.
We need to get some snacks in here, not for you,
We need to bring him.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Back, Yeah, David Snax Harrison. That a nice one. I
did was taka with Damon on social media and said, hey,
do you have any snaps left? An't you? And he
showed me like an old man with a walker, And
I'm like, oh, I guess not so thanks anyway, snacks.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
But I'm glad Jojo brought this up on YouTube.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
There's a reason LT three was a UDFA last season,
Like basically, Paul stopped blowing smoke up our skirts here, like,
come on, man, what's going on here? So I'm glad
you brought that up because we have a full article
on the YouTube description down below on this last year.
So right now, Leonard Taylor is twenty two years of age.
He'll turn twenty three at the end of the month.
Dane Brugler of The Athletic graded all the players as
(16:56):
he does in the Beast that's the most comprehensive draft
guide on the planet. Graded Leonard Taylor as a fourth
or fifth round pick last year, and he went undrafted
you'd say, Wow, what a fine, which is true. Wow
how they get that sort of talent of value after
the draft, But it's even more than that. Prior to
Leonard Taylor even being draft eligible, he was considered a
(17:16):
first round pick coming to Miami in the first place.
He was a five star recruit in the state of Florida.
There were three recruits that were in the top three,
Dallas Turner for who ended up being a first rounder,
j C. Latham who ended up being a first rounder,
and Leonard Taylor the third who had all that same potential.
Now he didn't live up to it for multiple reasons.
(17:39):
He had the talent, but there were questions about, you know,
consistency and maximizing the talent and some of those sorts
of questions. You know, the raw physical tools being there,
but the discipline on a snap by snap basis, some
of the production leaving on the field of not being
committed to certain things. But that's why you get a
(18:02):
guy like age and see if he can maximize it.
And if he can't, okay, you cut a guy who
was on an undrafted free agent contract or he's not
a big piece of the rotation, or he will be
and he showed pop last year, which makes you think
that he's going to be incredibly serious about making this
next jump. So right, was the an undrafted free agent
(18:22):
last season? He was, and it wasn't for lack of talent. Again,
it was for some of these other issues that we
brought up before.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Yeah, I have some breaking news. I just gonna sure
I saw you here, But it's like Adam Scheffler here,
I got a breaking news and so hey, hey, hey,
just so you know, fat Albert is available.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Okay, who is that fat?
Speaker 6 (18:46):
Help?
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Yeah, but who is fat Albert?
Speaker 7 (18:49):
Who?
Speaker 1 (18:49):
Who's the free agent?
Speaker 2 (18:50):
That Albert?
Speaker 1 (18:51):
He literally fat, Hey.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
It's fat Albert. He's available.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
Well, we could use him. I'm sure I wouldn't mind
at a run stuffer to the rotation. That certainly would
do some help a service. I will say that. For
Leonard Taylor, the third, it's now or never with the
Jets not doing anything, regardless of people that are, you know,
(19:17):
criticizing and saying they don't think he could do it.
They questioned his run stuffing ability. Sure he can help
quin In in pass rushing situations and all these other things.
I'm seeing all your guys comments this are flowing in
on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter and everything coming in for Leonard.
The Jets didn't do anything in the draft. They really
didn't do anything in free agency. So if you can't
seize the day now, my question is when will LT
(19:39):
three ever seize the day? So the opportunity is up
to him. We will see if he takes advantage of it,
and I hope he does because this is his chance.
It's the greatest chance he could possibly have. So we'll
see what he ends up doing with it.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Yeah, I'll tell you this. I believe in Aaron Glenn
for this reason. So you think bad, you know, to
some of the forty nine ers teams, even some of
the RAMS teams, and they won the fastest show on
turf for another ridiculous name they have for themselves, right,
some of those and even the great not goat Tom Brady, Right,
(20:18):
it was all about schemes, right, the DNK dunk stuff.
That's a strategy. You do that strategy because of the
personnel you have. And so those games were won by
those organizations I just talked about. And even the great
Patrick Mahons in the past year or two has done
this dink and dunk. So you're maximizing the most you
get at the personnel you have. You scheme for the
(20:39):
personnel you have. That's why they've been able to be
so successful. It's not the player talent, it's the scheme.
And so I would say it's gonna be Aaron Glenn
scheming the defense, coming up with the inside stunts, the plays,
the knick knacks, Patty Wack, Thorry Dog a bone. And
I'm going to tell you that he's gonna scheme his
way with these players. And I think there's a lot
(21:02):
to it, and coaching matters, and so I think he's
going to be able to do something with this, you know.
And and he's not leaving any stone unturned, any any loophole,
any nuance, anything he could do. And we'll talk about
in a minute. The guy from Germany will talk about
a minute. Right. That's just thinking outside the box. How
can I get the most out of the salary cap? Right?
(21:25):
How can I bring in this guy I got okafor
I got this guy. You know, no one else wanted him.
I think we can do something with him. And and
you know, that's how you maximize your roster. And that's
what he's doing.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Yeah, And here's the other thing. We still don't know
what Skimy's from. Is there gonna be three four, is
there're gonna be four to three? We don't know any
of those questions yet. So again that's coming up. We
have a ton of content coming up. So next week
is the Jets Rookie Mini Camp, so we'll have all
that content literally in the middle of this show because
it'll be Friday, Saturday Sunday. The week after that is
the NFL schedule release. The week after that is otating.
(22:00):
So Jets content is coming for the foreseeable future. Here
we will see what happens. But good luck to Like
I said Leonard Taylor the third and his efforts LT three.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
It is still as we leave this topic to go
to another one, right, it is disappointing. You can argue
if it's the biggest need or not. I think it
was the biggest need. But to let thirty players that
fill that position come off the board, and that being
whatever you want to call it, for the need level,
we let thirty but guys go down and go pass
(22:33):
us by, it's just yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Yeah, again, I will reiterate it. We'll trust whatever Moojie
and ag does, I suppose at the top, but it
is hard to rationalize because there are people that then
they're both on this call that said, boy, you could
have taken a defensive tackle at seventh overall, that there
was a world where that was possible if Mason Grant
(22:56):
slipped and to say that facts emphatically with your chest
and then we skip all the way to and raped
and it didn't end up taking anybody. That's just a
hard thing to sort of rationalize your brain. ABPP. Also,
because not only did quantity thirty guys get taken, that's
a lot of players quality got taken. Daniel Jeremiah grated
(23:19):
twenty four defensive tackles from this class that are going
to be starters in the NFL. So let's go to
your thirty number. If twenty four of the thirty players
are going to be starters, not one of them could
have fit the Jets board. And Darren Mugie's explanation take
it or not is he said, sure, maybe there's thirty
on the list, but character issues, medical issues, and if
(23:40):
you start going through some of those, Joshua Farmer apparently
had some issues Deon Walker the Mountain that you've called
him he had the back issue, so some of these
players could have just been completely removed off the Jets board.
And maybe to Muji's point, this list was a lot shorter.
We say thirty, but maybe he was like fifteen or twenty.
And then once you start divvying up rounds and picks,
(24:02):
all of a sudden you have to have big boy
conversations about things.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
So yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
All right, So let's go on here. We talked about
this earlier this week. Papa, this is going to be
your first opportunity. The Jets have dipped their toes into
the international pathway program here and after the draft, they
signed a former Germany I guess he'll always be German,
a German offensive lineman, and I got the pronunciation here
(24:30):
from a German television show where he was on. It
is Leonda the v Gund. Leonda v Gund is the
German offensive lineman they signed and they've added him in.
He had thirty eight bench press reps at two twenty
five that would have been number one of the combine.
That's five more than the next guy that was on
(24:51):
the list. So German strongest man they've added to this list,
and he's set to play offensive tack on. He got
two hundred and forty nine thousand dollars in guaranteed money,
which is one of the biggest in the National Football
League of any undrafted free agent that were signed, and
certainly biggest of the Jets that's been reported.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
Here's one thing you can be certain of, all right,
say his name again.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
It is Leonda V.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
Gund Yeah. So the average person with that name probably
get a lot of shit in grade school. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
I don't believe he did just for the run, I
would imagine not six foot six, three hundred and eighteen pounds.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
So yeah, so this is exactly what I was talking about, right.
The NFL allows this exception for international players. Currently, the
talent gets evaluated and they determine how many of these
players are going to be available for this supplemental drive.
They don't call it supplemental draft. I'm going to call
it supplemental draft. And this year there was seventeen of
(25:45):
these players available, and essentially what it is thirteen available, Okay,
and so es sense of what it is is now
not that you need an extra one when you have ninety,
but you get to have ninety one, correct, and the
more important one as you get to get an extra
guy in the practice squad. So you're not going to
get fifty four players on the roster, but you are
(26:06):
going to have plus one in the seventeen on the
practice squad. So this is again leaving it. Talked about
it again. What else can we do to bring in
talent and literally for almost no risk, right, you bring
this guy in. He super strong. He's going to learn
some techniques. You know, he's an offensive lineman, right, and
(26:30):
he's going to learn right and if he can learn
to move his feet and control his hands with that strength,
he's going to make some big money. You know, he
made some good money as an unrestricted free agent undrafted
free agencuse me? Yeah, but yeah, with that amount, and
that's significant, right, anybody that's bench press two twenty five,
(26:51):
you're excluded. Boy Green, you know, I know how mean
I could do back in the day, But you get
at the end of your rep right, you're one of
th a strong guy. And he smacked out six more
after all the other ones that tapped out. He's thirty
eight thirty eight.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
That's a number one. That feels like a lot. So
I'm glad that we could confirm it. With you for
being a lot. How many was yours on the two
twenty five he had to rack them for old combined days.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Yeah, I used to be able to do twelve or
fourteen in that. That seems like a lot too. So yeah,
I'll tell you if when you get to that number,
you're not doing six, you give me six more. No,
thank you. My chest is going to cave in here
as the bar bounces across it.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
So yes, So there you have it. So and you
explained it, and I just want to reiterate it because
it's a really cool program, this International Pathway program. It's
been in play since twenty seventeen. It's global expansion for
the league and it works out for teams and these
athletes that are from all these different countries. There were
thirteen players in this year's class, representing twelve different countries.
(28:00):
And that's the thing. Each year, a class is selected
from all around the world and they tell the NFL, hey,
here's the twenty twenty five class. Here are these players.
They're going to the IMG Academy down in Florida. They're
going to train with on field workouts, off field workouts,
and then at the end of that ten week program.
They're going to participate in the University of South Florida's
pro day, and you will see them just like you
(28:22):
would any other Syracuse or anything of that nature, and
bench press, reps, vertical jump, broad jump, all this jazz.
And then you can draft them straight up if you
want to, and we don't often see that. Most of
the time. These guys go undrafted, and then you have
the opportunity to select them. You get the roster exemption
for the majority of the off season until you have
to get down to fifty three man roster cuts. Some
(28:43):
people are saying in the comment section that the money
he is expected to get means he could make the
fifty three, and he totally could, so maybe you won't
even need the exemption. But if you end up developing
him on the practice squad, you get an extra guy
and it's not taking a spot from anybody else. It
just totally makes a lot of sense. Plus, if you
really evaluate the Jets roster, the starting five offensive element
look great, your top backup at right tackle and Chuck
(29:07):
wooma okorp four looks great. Josh Myers looks great, but
Chuck wumo o'corford does not play left tackle or does
not want to play left tackle. If Leonda Vegan can
play left tackle, then all this done. You've got true
backups at all these positions that in theory you'd either
feel really great about or are intrigued by. In this case,
(29:28):
so yeah, let's see what happens. But I like it absolutely.
And Elf is the European of league football. Just to
explain Elf for anyone who didn't know what that was,
that's where he came from. And he was an all
star in Germany and won a championship on a German team.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
Congratulations, World's best coffee.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
Yes, that's right, So that's pretty well done there. Again,
we got four hundred people in the room like the
video hit subscribe, guys, keep that rolling here on the train.
And the other A big news nugget pop that sort
of surprised all of us was Jordan Travis abruptly announced
his retirement from the National Football League. He never played
(30:09):
in a game, he never ended up being able to practice.
He was a fifth round draft choice. I believe on's
seventy one overall. I remember off the top of my
head correctly last year, and now he is retiring. And
he announced that four days after the twenty twenty five
NFL Draft.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Yeah, I just actually I'd like to take this moment,
just a moment, sure, okay, And I've actually been thinking
about this for a while, so, oh, I need a moment. Sure,
I guess I could get you emotional. This young man's
career is over, I guess. So, no, no, I would
like to announce my retirement from the National Football League.
(30:49):
It's official as of today, right, Jordan Travis and I
have played exactly the same number of each other. Nice,
and I would like to I would like to announce
my retirement. It's not a retirement. Goof you didn't.
Speaker 8 (31:04):
Make it, butter, Come on, man, this young man's NFL
football dreams are over mine door mine.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
That's class less. Come on, now, I agree it is classless.
He waited till after the draft, So that's the real question.
So did the agent get the last laugh? So agent
was yipping about how the Jets dorked around with the
rehab and they screwed it up whatever that happened, And
so the Jets came around slapped that agent around like
a rend and mule like a little bitch. And so
(31:40):
did they tell the Jets? And I can only imagine
they did not tell the Jets because what would be
the point to wait till literally one week after the
draft to announce it, And so it'd be a real
d move. And you know what the D stands for,
real dick move to to wait till week after draft
(32:02):
to let the Jets know. And I we'll find out
down the road. Somebody's gonna the information is gonna come
from some from someone at some point, you know, not
that it's that big of news. It's Jet news, but
is it real news? I don't know, but you know,
and if he truly didn't tell the Jets right for
the draft, that's a dick move.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Yes, I would agree. Now here's this is from Rich Simini.
I won't play the entire clip. It's a ninety second clip.
You guys can find it on my Twitter and Instagram.
Rich Simini on the flight Deck podcast had some additional
details about this Jordan Travis situation, and he believes Rich
Samini that they either knew Jordan Travis was set to retire,
(32:40):
or they knew that the rehab had gone very poorly
and thus, long story short, that they knew quarterback could
have been perceived as a need like they didn't factor
in Jordan Travis into their plans. Long story short is
Rich Simeni's belief because when Jordan travis has been asked
about before the draft, the Jets have dodged medical questions,
(33:01):
which put up Ritch Samini, as he was describing his
red flag of something obviously is wrong and they're refusing
to talk about it. So maybe they just knew about
all this and this is where we went. So that's
what they believe. Also, here's this, so you mentioned that
that occasion. It happened in early March. Jordan Travis's agent
reached out to Rich Samini and he was able to
(33:22):
put this in his column and said, hey man, the
Jets plan rehab plan for Jordan Travis did not go well,
and basically he believed the Jets botched it. They tried
to rush him back and do all these things. Rich
Samini gave the aftermath of that on his podcast and
said there was tension in the relationship. The Jets were
not happy that Jordan's agent told Rich that comment that
(33:45):
they believed nyj bots a rehab plan and a direct
quote here is I know the agent quote got an
earful from the Jets. So the Jets let the agent
have it after that, and then basically they all stopped
the conversation about his health and stuff publicly, and that's
where we all ended up going. So anyway, long story short,
(34:06):
the Jets ripped at the agent after making that comment.
But it seems like, again from rich Samani's note gathering,
that the Jets did know. They were not blindsided by this.
They knew his rehab was either going poorly or they
knew about the retirement straight up.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
Yeah, and so maybe they knew. And so it's going
to be one of a couple of things for me.
And then I'll tell you that. You know, people you
know slap around the Jets quarterback room. I think they're
they're pretty good shape. There is some risk there, you know,
Tyra Tela has had some injury history.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
Yes, you know fields for that matter.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Yeah, it was justin fields, right, and so the UFL
champion can't be the only answer, right, They've currently they
went from the right I was getting there, Hold on,
pup your brakes. Yeah, they went from five to three
and the blank of an eye. So they're going to
bring some more into the room for who's the other one?
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Undrafted free agent let Brady Cook the Missouri quarterback. Yeah,
I didn't know that, so oh yeah, so yeah, I've
got some stories up you get you can check them
out and people can check them out after. Yeah, he's
a drafted free agent, was an athletic quarterback from the combine,
was top marks at all the quarterback positions.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
Yeah. Absolutely. I actually looked at him today and I
knew that he had been not drafted. Who's towards the
top of the not drafted class. So I'm glad that
they did that.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
But I still fear things like carnival workers that have
small hands, a small cabbage, the Dutch, the Dutch. I'm
afraid of the Dutch. That And you know, if the
Justin Fields experiment does not work out and Tyrod, history
speaks itself with Tyrod where we at. So I think
(35:56):
there's still some more work to be done. I think
this signed the Missouri kids a great opportunity for him
and Adrian Martinez to battle it out for the you know,
you know, and then we move on from Adrian Martinez
experiment or whatever we do. I still think we need
to be combing the waiver wire and omber the things
and maybe we wait till the roster cut down. Right,
(36:18):
when whatever the number is, it's like twelve hundred players
get released in the end of August, there's going to
be somebody there that we should put in our back pocket?
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Is it that Cleveland quarterback room? Is someone about to
shake free from there? Baby?
Speaker 2 (36:32):
No, you have Shaudre Sanders derangement syndrome. There's a reason
that every single NFL team passed on that jabbroniwn four times,
four times, four times forget Booker team five times, five times.
Every NFL team passed on that goof four times.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
He got votes for the Heisman.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
What tra or your mom? It was a writing vote.
But anyways, let's but this guy's a cancer. There's zero
chance I would sign him. There's a reason AG didn't
even think about drafting him, right the kids in attitude case,
And I said it before, and now we have the
(37:19):
evidence that I was right.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
You can clean up your attitude. That can change and
maybe a slice of humble pie from the draft process
is good. He's got the talents. He finished top ten
in the Heisman. So did our boy Kyle McCord for
that matter too. He was a very he led college
football and completion percentage. Last year, he there was a
case for him to be in the first round. No,
only by you, only by me. People don't pay.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
There's film out there of him and cam Ward going
back and forth. Have you seen that? Yes, Sanders and
cam Wore going back and forth, and cam God bless him,
ripped him a new one. So much as shout or
walked away. I'm thinking I'm going home. I'm going over
to the bench, and you better get used to that, buddy.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
Well, the Browns have five quarterbacks. One of them won't
play this season, so sort of take him out of it.
That's Deshaun Watson. Then he got four others, two veterans
Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and then two rookies Dylan Gabriel,
Tradeur Sanders. Maybe they keep all four possible on the
fifty three man roster. Some teams keep four, but maybe not.
And if they let one of them go, they will
(38:26):
be subject to waivers, which will give an opportunity. And
when you are subject to waivers in the pre pre
dot dot dot season, I'm not saying preseason before season process.
The Jets have the seventh overall picking waivers, which means
they will have a very valuable asset to potentially scoop
quality players off when we fast forward a couple of months,
(38:47):
and that could include that quarterback room. No way, Hey,
Brady Cook, I will say this, he's got a clear path.
We talked about one or two.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
Right by, an opportunity for him. Sure, you don't know
what you and fields is kind of due. The Jets
did a non Jet thing, right, they put it. They
gave them essentially what you call it a proof of contract, right,
and that may cost you know, you may have to
pay that check at the end of the night, right justin.
But they're gonna smile right here, justin, thank you for
(39:19):
leading us to the playoffs. Sure, here's your new fat contract. Yeah.
And then the gentleman from a zoo and Adrian Martinez
and all these other snapperheads, they right off in the
sunset because we have our franchise quarterback. But now the
Jets have put themselves in a phenomenal position, right this
Jordan travising dorks up the bottom of the roster. Hopefully
it never matters.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
Yeah, yeah, hopefully not. And we'll see. But again, the
judge do have that valuable waiver position, so we will
see if that comes into play later. The top two
of the Jets quarterback depth chart is locked in stone.
That ain't changing, just outside of injury. Justinp Fins the
starter talvia Jeyler's a backup? Is there a QB three?
Will they even have one? I don't know. We don't
(39:59):
know move g Glenn's roster construction. We have no history
on it yet. But if there is a QB three,
and there will be one on the practice squad at
a minimum, Brady Cook is a great opportunity.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
Jared B. I'm willing to raffle off these dates to you. Dates, okay, dates, Yeah,
I sorted furited candy dates from from the UAE. I'm
willing to raffle them up. It's much better than popcorn,
Jared B. So let me know.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
Well, we've got four hundred people in the room, like
the video hit subscribe pop. Is there anything else you
want to get to before we open up the phone lines?
Speaker 8 (40:31):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Nope, nope. I did again come down from the mountain,
so to speak the structure birds if you will, and
I did. I just want to say, I did you
know I did feel like Clark Griswold Clark. Yeah, and
I'll explain that to you. So you know, you had
to buy the ticket. It wasn't cheap. And then you
(40:54):
spend like forty five minutes like walking like one of
those rat trail back and forth right, you know. Get okay,
go around here, go up there, You take one elevator,
get off, go up another elevator. And so after forty
five minutes of weaving through this building, you get to
the top floor. And if you remember from from National
(41:15):
Lampoon's Vacation, okay, they went to the Big Ball of
Twine and then they're running late, so they stopped there
and they nod their head a couple of times, get
back in the car and continue to go to the
closed Wally World. That was kind of like what the
Birch Cleaf was. We get up there and I don't
know what I thought I was gonna I didn't know
what it was going to look like. But I went
up there and I go, look, we're high up, all right,
(41:39):
I guess we're going down now.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
I mean, I took get a you know, yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
Took a selfie. I took other few pictures, but I'm like,
I don't know what I expected but anti climactic. Yeah,
it was like going on taking your sister to the prom.
There was a very no climactic moment, if you will Jesus.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
Okay, well, thank you for that. Hopefully not vivid picture,
all right. AnyWho, it's time to go to the phone lines.

Good morning fellas. How are you always?
Speaker 1 (44:34):
It's always a time A.
Speaker 9 (44:36):
Plus to you, Pops. You know, I caught your I
caught your quote from Animal House yesterday. I threw BG
out there and said, you know, and said, you know,
do you know what it was? And boy, he knew
it right away. So, you know, a plus to BG
for knowing it. But that just shows that you, I know,
you had to be responsible for making him watching. Yeah,
(44:58):
so yeah, good. You know we're we're about the same age, Pops,
So you know that just shows right there. That's you know, uh,
a great dad move, you know, just to to get
your kids to know these Animal House quotes.
Speaker 2 (45:15):
I appreciate that. It's almost like every before every draft
uh PG watching boy Green watches Draft day and before
he went on in any date, I had n't watched
Animal House.
Speaker 9 (45:26):
Oh nice.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
Yeah that set the tone. Yeah, yeah, yeah, good, good,
good for you.
Speaker 9 (45:33):
Yeah, that's that's that's dad of the year stuff right there.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
Yeah. Absolutely.
Speaker 9 (45:39):
You know we talked about at the beginning of this,
you guys were talking about getting a big fatty, you know,
but in all reality though, if you want to stop
the run, it's a team effort, you know what, Like
what like when they used to when we had Zach Wilson,
what did they do? They just loaded the box up
and just and dared the quarterback there Zack Wilson to
(46:00):
to beat them, which he couldn't. With With with Aaron Glenn,
he's going to load the box up and and dare
the quarterback to go one on you know, one on
one with sauce, one on one with I mean, he
he built this this defensive backs to be out here
on islands. He's gonna put everybody out here on the islands.
(46:20):
And and and instead of you know, playing a three
four or four three, it's probably going to be more
like a consistent four to four.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
That's that's a good point and and go.
Speaker 9 (46:31):
You know, if I think if Aaron Glenn was a
former linebacker or a former defensive and former you know, uh,
he might have leaned more towards bringing that big fatty in.
Speaker 1 (46:43):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (46:43):
But with him being in a defensive back and and
and a and a good defensive mind coach, he's got
the talent now to say, look, I'm gonna put I'm
not saying I'm not saying we have a whole bunch
of remises out there, but in the same sense, I'm
gonna put everybody on island and we're gonna we're gonna,
we're gonna use the team as a as a as
(47:07):
a whole to to stop the run. And maybe the
big fatty that's that's big and slow might not fit
into the scheme of you know, filling the filling the
gaps that that that he's gonna want filled. You know,
he maybe wants somebody a little bit lighter, a little
bit more athletic, and uh, you know, and and having
(47:32):
these defensive backs out there by themselves, and you know,
maybe maybe it pays off, maybe it doesn't. I don't know,
but I don't think a big fatty would is in
his scheme of things.
Speaker 1 (47:46):
What do you think the point it's a good point
there may not just be right because a lot of
people have said not even just defensive tackle that they
wanted to straight up true like almost three four nose tackle.
And I am sort of because again that wouldn't be
quinn In. So Quinnin in that three for what would
he be playing end? And then who is the note?
So like a lot of people have sort of been
speculating and looking back at Aaron Glenn's history at all
(48:07):
these different places and saying it so, to your point,
maybe it's just not that. Maybe the thing that we wanted,
the thing we coveted, the thing we graved, it just
wasn't ever in the parts that we would know that
not being in the room and him not spilling those
kinds of trade secrets live. Maybe you're just right, and
this is how it's going to be, and they are
going to be some of these Leonard Taylor types where
they're just sort of lighter defensive lineman in general. But again,
(48:30):
it's a more team approach. It's not just on one guy.
It's not on whoever that let's you nax Erison as
an example, him to just clog lanes and that loves
everything else. Maybe it is just that team equal effort
up front element that could make a lot of sense. Pop.
Speaker 9 (48:46):
Yeah, it's bodies on bodies, you know, you you know,
and if the defense can have just one more extra
than what the offense can provide, then hey, I think
that we can. Maybe that's it. I don't know, because
that's the only explanation I can even come up with
on why he didn't draft. I mean, there were so
(49:07):
many options there and he passed on. He passed on
all of them. I mean, you pick every round, he'll
kill you know, clear to the you know, fifth or
sixth round, and picked every round, and there was always
somebody there. He continued, he continued to pass on. So
there's got whatever his reasoning of passing on these guys. Uh,
(49:27):
that's the only thing I can come up with on
why he would do that is because it just doesn't
fit his scheme of of I don't need a three
hundred and thirty and forty pound guy because it's not
going to work for him. So maybe I'm yeah, hey,
I'm up a great show. Yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (49:43):
Boy. Green makes a good point. We should listen to him.
He's a pre med, pre med pre law. What's the difference.
Speaker 9 (49:49):
Yeah, right, yeah, there's that. But yeah, that's that's just
my two cents. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (49:57):
I just wanted to hear what you guys thought.
Speaker 1 (49:59):
Appreciate indeed, thanks for the call, brother, appreciate you. Yeah,
that's a very fair take a fair call. Again, there
is just a ton of speculation because ag and Darren
Mugie are pretty tight lipped and buttoned up, and maybe
we'll get that a little bit at It probably won't
be at Rookie Mini Camp, which is next week where
there will be some media availability with coach. It'll probably
(50:22):
be so three weeks from now basically, so ota is
when we're getting consistent things. Maybe that now we have
all the players together, although even then Age said he
wasn't even going to be talking a scheme until we
got deeper. So we'll see even if he has those
answers for us, or is that going to quite frankly
be a training camp conversation. So a lot to be
determined there, but we'll see. I've seen there's a lot
(50:43):
of love for Derek Noddy in the chat being the
guy that freed up Apparently Chris Jones, we can't sit again.
He didn't really do that last year. He is only
playing twenty percent of the defensive snaps, but over the
course of the majority of his career, six of the
seven years he played forty percent of the defensive snap
so he's a fine player. But again, the contra speaks
to everything. Sometimes you can get a steal Zach Bond
(51:03):
last year, right the Eagles signed him for no nothing
money and he was a defensive Player of the Year candidate,
and then they gave him big money after the Sometimes
you can get a steal and maybe that's what not
he is. But boy, the contract seems to just suggests
that they're not expecting what some people seem to be
expecting from him in the comment section and.
Speaker 2 (51:20):
Right, it'd be very similar, different position. Obviously, it didn't
fit what the kansasity was looking to do anymore. And
everyone else interpret that is washed Like you look at Conkland.
We talked about before, you gotta scrap above the veterri
minimum a little bit more, but you know, and it's
the same kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (51:41):
So yeah, so and yeah, Conkland got three million from
the LA Chargers. Excuse me, there was another compic update.
We talked about this a couple of days ago, but
Lance Zerline's latest projections have the Jets receiving three picks
in twenty twenty six, would be a four rounder and
two seventh rounders for their losses for Solomon Thomas who
(52:04):
went to your Dallas Cowboys, and then Toddler Conklin did
the Chargers, and then obviously his son Redick who went
to the Bucks. So we'll keep an eye on that
because the while no future signings the Jets do will
affect that any longer because we're past the compict deadline.
It will now be based on percentages snap percentages of
what these former Jet players do in their new homes
(52:25):
of how much playing time they get. So we'll see
what those picks end up. Where one hundred percent getting
a pick for Hassan Redick, the other two or three
are sort of floating on percentages. I imagine Conklin's going
to get a lot of run. They do have Roondi
Getzen out there in LA two, but I think Conklin's
going to get his snap percentage. So I don't think
that's going to be a problem for that seventh rounder.
But we'll see. On Sally, I don't know how that's
gonna work for the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
Line, right, Yeah, it's uh, did you You're not supposed
to say the other person's name anymore. He's left.
Speaker 1 (52:55):
Oh yeah, I'd rather not say his name ever again.
But the thing I would say, though, as Ritz Suman,
he said, it's going to go down as one of
the worst trades in Jets franchise history, and you know
it was embarrassing and public facing it look really bad.
But if it ends up happening how it's projected to,
you gave up a third round pick in next year's draft,
(53:16):
and you're going to get a fourth rounder back in
that same draft. You dropped the round. Okay, that's not
the worst thing in the world. The all the embarrassment
you got was bad, But like, if that's all that happens,
I don't think that's that bad at all.
Speaker 2 (53:30):
Except the money you could have used.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
Well, the season's fucked now, that's sunk in cost, it's
sunk in cost fallacy, there's nothing now, but it's over,
like we can't go back. So I'm just saying that, like,
you know, the season got aft and we didn't and
the season sucked, but like you know, it's too late now,
you know for some of those other conversations.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
Yeah, but I do believe Aaron Glenn has taking the
philosophy don't say anything you don't have to say, and
right now he has to say nothing, right, So you
know what, I think it's a refreshing approach that when
there's nothing to say or he doesn't have to say
it he just doesn't say it.
Speaker 1 (54:11):
All right, Scott on our Facebook page again at boy
Green two five on Facebook. If you guys are Facebook watchers,
We're no longer on the heavy on Jets page. You
can check it out on the boy Green page my
personal professional page coming up over there. We got Scott
giving some suggestions on who the Jets could chase a
defensive tackle. Because it's not over, so I'll throw a
couple of names out there. Poppy, you tell me whether
(54:32):
you'd buy it or sell it, and I'll tell you
whether it's trade free and sere what have you. I
like this one. JFM, the guy everyone risk complaining about.
He is one year left on his deal with the
Denver Broncos. Maybe he trade for him back and realizing
it was a mistake, and he can add to that front.
Speaker 2 (54:48):
Jets Freakin' magic. That's what he stands for sure, and
so depending on the cost, I'm all in right, come home, yeah,
come again. Versatile can play multiple positions on the line.
We gave well we'd swuap like late round picks, so
we really didn't even get anything for JFM, so that
one would be interesting. I like that, Scott, Let's go
sign me up. Quinton Jefferson. He was most recently, I believe,
(55:11):
on the Buffalo Bills, and he had good success with
the Jets. He set a career high in sacks with
five and a half. What about Quentin Jefferson, He's a
straight up street free agent right now. It would it
would depend on the cost and and does it fit
in with what they're trying to do. And it's not
clear at least in my eyes. Maybe to someone is
you know what that looks like and you know what
(55:34):
the cost is what he's gonna you know, and so
you could probably get him on the cheap. And I'm
all for, you know, using those ninety one bodies. We
have a room to fill, and you know it costs
nothing to bring I mean obviously cast something. But yeah,
bring him in, try him out, see if he fits
in the package.
Speaker 1 (55:53):
Yeah, he seems to more a pass thrush juice, which
is not a problem necessarily. And again we still don't
know the ag Darren Bujie thing, so we don't know
what trying to vibe for in terms of the skill talent.
But I thought Q was awesome here. He went to Cleveland,
things didn't really work out there. They ended up in Buffalo.
I'd love Q back Q and Q Quinn Williams and Quintin.
That would be wonderful. And one last name, let's go
(56:16):
to it and it is a fully fatu Kasi. That's
a popular name. He's a big boy, which would certainly
make a lot of sense. Former Yukon six rounder by
the New York Jets. He sort of bounced around the league. Again, Man,
we want a mountain of a man. Fully Fatukasi sort
of checks it off in the run stuffing role more
so than pass rushing.
Speaker 2 (56:37):
Yeah. Absolutely. And I remember when we were waiting for
Dingle Dork to figure out what he was going to do,
and we didn't realize that you could time his forty
with a sun dial. That this was one of the
names that was getting tossed around for in season trade
last year to bring it. I can't pronounce his name,
(56:59):
but I know, and I think Jerry b had some
love for him and really thought we should have gone
after mid season. We're dorking around with that douchebag. So
that sound reddick. I'll tell his name to douche bounce nice.
So I definitely think he would be uh someone we
should and he's a fat Yusaki. Is that how you
(57:21):
pronounced his name?
Speaker 1 (57:22):
I don't believe so, just like we have an undrafted
free agent name Fotorma that some people are pronouncing fat
Orma so fat you you know, however you want to
pronounce that is up to you, your mama. There you go.
Six foot four, three hundred and eighteen pounds. He is thirty,
which apparently Aaron Glenn is a thing against older people.
(57:43):
So I don't know how that will play, but that
would be a wonderful one. All right, thank you guys
for all of those. Let's go back to the phone launch.
Speaker 2 (57:51):
Here. We've got Ricky New York live here on the show.
What's up Ricky?
Speaker 1 (57:53):
In good morning?
Speaker 10 (57:54):
What's happening? Guys?
Speaker 2 (57:56):
Look at that backdrop?
Speaker 1 (57:57):
Nice so.
Speaker 10 (58:00):
On on paper? Nothing that looks too impressive with our
defensive tackles. Is that what you said?
Speaker 1 (58:08):
Yeah? Yeah, maybe Williams obviously three.
Speaker 10 (58:12):
Time Super Bowl champ, seems pretty impressive. I don't know
what kind of paper you're looking at. I mean, there
aren't a lot of guys with three Super Bowl rings.
I mean, what do you guys want Tom Brady to
play defensive tackle for US? I mean goodness, gracious.
Speaker 1 (58:27):
It's interesting that again he got basically the veteran minimum,
which means no one else wanted him. That to me
is sort of curious.
Speaker 10 (58:34):
You know, it's weird, Like I know, he battled some
injuries last year and they and I think it's one
of those things where like because he was a free
agent the year before too, and he you know, did
a team friendly deal, went back for a year, and
I think it was one of those things where he
(58:55):
thought like, oh, they're going to take care of me
on the next one, and they went, Haha, we're just
gonna go ahead and bringing a guy out a rookie
contract and keep rotating that thing around and so uh
but I mean, coming off and down the year, we
got him for a deal. I'll take that. I'll take that.
Speaker 2 (59:14):
Uh Yeah. I think we both said, I'm sorry, Ricky.
I think we both said, you know, it's it's one
of those this is what ag is doing, right, He's
he's uh, he's checking the clearance aisle uh and finding
the diamond in the rough.
Speaker 1 (59:26):
And he's the best guy if we Byron Cowarts, Derek
Noddy and J two Fele Derek Knotty is clearly the
most prominent of any of those, both with championships and
with like legitimate experience that just weren't bouncing around. So
Derek Naughty is the best of the three man group,
and it's not close.
Speaker 10 (59:45):
Right, I think he's still got some left in the tank.
I mean, you know, is he a long term long
term I mean, of course not. He's not like a
building block type guy, because he's you know, he's got
He's probably gonna turn thirty before the years over leave,
So I mean, he's not necessarily a spring chicken.
Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
But uh, twenty eight. Actually he's twenty eight. He turns
twenty nine and next week.
Speaker 10 (01:00:12):
Oh okay, okay, okay, a little younger than I thought,
to a year younger than I thought.
Speaker 1 (01:00:16):
Yeah, right, exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
Yeah, I mean, at the cost, I agree with you, Ricky.
You know, had a down year before that, he was
very productive, and what he did in Kansas City is
exactly what we'd like him to do with Quinton Williams,
right for you, fre quitting up to eat.
Speaker 10 (01:00:32):
Yep, absolutely, you know so. And I think Cisco is
kind of the same way. Cisco was real good, had
a down year, and we got him for a deal.
So I don't mind the proven guys that we got
for a deal. But then I guess we kind of
did the opposite thing with Stevens, like the kind of
(01:00:53):
questionable guy and we paid big for him.
Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
So yeah, right, weird, Yeah that was confusing.
Speaker 10 (01:00:59):
Yeah, I don't know that that one was a little
bit confusing to me.
Speaker 1 (01:01:03):
However, you know, I'm curious to this, Ricky to throw
this in. I wonder if we could have given Ag
a Chrystal ball and say, AG, look into the future
and the draft. In the third round, you're gonna get
some guy named azari A Thomas. Do you still want
to sign Brandon Stevens right now? If we put him
on Pop's highest mountaintop that he has access to, does
(01:01:23):
AG go? I would have then not signed Brandon Stevens
because azari A Thomas would have been my star opposite side.
I'm curious what his answer would have been with the
truth serum of knowing that.
Speaker 10 (01:01:35):
Yeah, I at that point, I think we probably would
have signed a different corner for less money if he
could see the future, right right right, That's just my feeling, dude.
I didn't expect him to be there in the third round,
like you know, when I was doing mocks, I'm thinking,
you know, he's going to go to Detroit or Philly
(01:01:57):
or one of those teams at the end of the
first like you know, yea beginning of the second. But
you know what, I didn't see Emon Worry falling out
of the first round. I didn't you know, I didn't
see six offensive linemen going in the first round for
goodness sakes, like, yeah, you know all those things, you know,
delusions of grandeur I had, you know, oh, you know,
(01:02:20):
there's a lot of offensive lene there's you know, a
lot of defensive tackles. We can get, no the cream
of the crop. Defensive tackles five in the first round, boom,
you know, and then there were none in the second round,
and then Darius Alexander went top of the third. But dude, yeah,
I wouldn't have thought that one third of the first
(01:02:41):
round was going to be all offensive and defensive tackles
like like that.
Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
Yeah that you know.
Speaker 10 (01:02:48):
That shows you can do as many mocks as you want.
But you know, there there's always going to be uh
an Arian Smith or you know, I'm just poking fun
him as an example, but there's always going to be
those picks that you just never see coming, you know,
guys that get taken way too early. But all I
(01:03:09):
all I know is is a good thing that I'm
not the GM. Because Tyleek Williams not there at forty two,
Ozzie not there at seventy three, my draft plan would
have went up in flames very fast. So you know,
And and you know, I toyed around with you know,
(01:03:30):
Golden or war On or one of those guys. But
seeing the way that the run went on offensive tackles
like we made, we made the right choice. Drafted Memoo.
So credit to ag. You know, he had a plan
stuck to it. My plan, which I thought was a
really good one, wouldn't have worked at all.
Speaker 1 (01:03:48):
So hey, that's a good point. And Ricky, I appreciate
the call. That's what I would say too, right, I said, ah,
get your offensive tackle on the second round. Boy, they
would have listened to me. Boy, they would have been
ship out and let's say, would have been smart enough
to go, oh shit, we better get Ozzie right now.
Ozzy Trabillo out of Boston College, who ended up going
shortly after the Jets pick that tackle run I did
(01:04:08):
not predict, so good on Moojie having a good temperature
chick saying we're just gonna get our right tackle right
now and there's gonna be a good tight end left later,
which they believe there is obviously in Mason Taylor. Everyone's
sort of debating about that. But Mason Taylor coming in
as a plug and play guy, so you know what,
that's why I'm not the GM they are.
Speaker 2 (01:04:27):
So it looks like they made good sense. And yes,
shout out to Ricky for the good call.
Speaker 1 (01:04:32):
There you go. I'd love from the comment section, what's up?
Speaker 5 (01:04:35):
Hop?
Speaker 2 (01:04:36):
I was just said plug and play. You know, I've
gotta share with the coffee club a moment. I'm well known.
There's actually a T shirt evidence and Johnny Boy I
think he took the picture of he did in New York.
So the struggle is real over here in the Emirates
(01:04:59):
because it is difficult to find bacon. They're not big
on the bacon.
Speaker 1 (01:05:04):
Isn't pig a sacred animal over there?
Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
Is what it is? It is?
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
You know, I don't even know if you're even you
talking about it on the show right now, about eating
their pig.
Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
I don't know if there's someone at the door.
Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
I bet there is, but.
Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Dragged out there is an updates, there is an update.
So at the buffet here in Dubai, right, sure, I'm
walking around, there's there's the buffet is incredible, all these
different types of food and all these different stations. Sure,
I walk around, I'm like, what is that? What does
that say? And it said pork station. And there was
(01:05:42):
a pork station and it had sausage and bacon. So uh,
but it was not so it was there's clear that
there's a whatever it is turkey bacon and duck bacon,
and but this was pork bacon. The only difference was
you had to use a completely different colored plate. It
(01:06:03):
was the plate was a different shape. The fork and
knife and whatever utensils were there, and they were different colors, okay,
and you had to use those utensils and those You
couldn't just take the bacon and put on your regular plate.
You had to put on a special plate so they
could clean it separately. So it's a bacon. Yeah, it
(01:06:25):
was good. But when I picked up the bacon and
the tongus, like it was almost like back in the
day when E. F. Hutton speaks, that was a commercial
back in the day for an investing guy. Ever in
the room was quiet. It was like, no, let's do
a better one. It was like it was like when
the guys went into that club, an animal house, right,
(01:06:46):
and all of a sudden, if I was you, I'd
be weaving, what a good idea? So anyway, as I
picked up the tongues to get the bacon, the entire
room when there was you know, one hundred, the room
when dead quiet, and everyone started looking at me, and
(01:07:07):
I did what any self respecting red blooded American would do.
I put more bacon on my plates. Oh Jesus, well,
I'm sure that rev of the room like nobody's business
with that beautiful story.
Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
Back to the fellow tapp here on the show what's
My Bath?
Speaker 6 (01:07:25):
Can we do you mind if we dance with your dates?
Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
Do you mind if we dance with your dates? If
I was you, what a good idea?
Speaker 6 (01:07:35):
Hey? Pop? How are you doing over there? Hey?
Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
I was checking out the tape on Cook and this
kid is fast, he's fearless, he's got a good he's
got a good arm.
Speaker 6 (01:07:45):
And it just got me thinking. I was starting to
Paul Boy about this the other day.
Speaker 3 (01:07:49):
It looks like Glenn has a type and the type
is the running quarterback. And I think that's the evolution
of the NFL, and we're going to try to get
there first.
Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
Nope.
Speaker 3 (01:08:02):
Yeah, so I think that's where that's why maybe he
passed on a lot of these other quarterbacks.
Speaker 6 (01:08:07):
Also, maybe they just didn't fit the mold.
Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
You know, absolutely that's gonna be the case.
Speaker 3 (01:08:13):
Yeah, I think you're right. I think that's where we're going.
And this kid that's getting a lot of a lot
of heat, the fourth.
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
Round pick Smith, the Georgia.
Speaker 3 (01:08:24):
Yeah Smith, Now he he he admitted he has that problem.
But the thing he does have is that speed. You know,
he's a track star, and even if he just takes
the top off, that's gonna loosen up the bottle underneath stuff.
So you know, just having him even going out there,
even if he drops the ball, you know, but if
he if you know, if he hoists a seventy yard
pass and he drops the ball, that's still gonna put
(01:08:44):
you know, put.
Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
Put the fear of God in him, right. Yeah. And
the words that dan Aykroyd step one, identify the problem,
step two wash it out, Yeah, boy exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
So anyway, just want to check in. Let you I'll
see you guys on the prebound.
Speaker 1 (01:09:04):
Thanks, hep appreciate that. And speaking of random food stores, here,
we'll go back to the phone line. Here just a moment,
I'll show you this soft air pop that the chef
Kevin Gilbert has finalized the menu for the Boy Green
Tailgate and you'll get a sneak peek at that and
again more coming. We're eleven days away from the schedule
being released, and then quickly we will pluck that game
(01:09:25):
and then you guys will be able to sign up
for going to that game.
Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
Go ahead, Pop, and yeah, just for the record, we
will not be serving government cheese down by the river.
Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
That is confirmed. That is confirmed. Back to the phone lines,
we've got Southern jet Rich here on the show.
Speaker 4 (01:09:42):
What's up buddy, Hey, good morning gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
That sounds like a rock band.
Speaker 4 (01:09:48):
Yeah, I was gonna I was thinking when somebody said
something and delirious before, I was thinking that'd be a
great rock band.
Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
Sure, that's got potential. I like that.
Speaker 4 (01:09:58):
Yeah, to your dad, I would have used a freaking
pink Barbie plate to eat the bacon. I could care
less what kind they gave me, especially if i'd been
jones and on not having it for a while.
Speaker 2 (01:10:13):
That's a good point.
Speaker 4 (01:10:14):
But that smell must have hit your nose like a
Muhammad Ali punch, you know. Yeah, I saw your commemorative coin, yes,
and it said nineteen sixty. And I remember, you know,
beginning of the AFL. I remember watching the first time
the Titans. I was a Bills fan at the time,
(01:10:37):
but I'm at first I was eight years old, but
I remember the Titans playing their first game in War
Memorial Stadium in nineteen sixty with Dick Wood as our
starting quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:10:51):
Sure, and you know.
Speaker 4 (01:10:53):
A lot of people see that famous football card with
Dick Wood at My question was, well, first of all,
I think we all look pretty good about Do you
think the the Jets know about Travis's You do.
Speaker 1 (01:11:12):
I do? And Rich, like I said Ritzeman, he didn't
one hundred percent say so when it initially happened, Richarmy
said it's unclear if they knew, and then on his
podcast that dropped yesterday, he said, by all accounts, I
believe they knew, and if they didn't, straight up now
that he's about to announce his retirement, they knew that
his rehabit was going so poor that like they couldn't
(01:11:33):
rely on him basically as part of the quarterback conversation
and thus which is just as good as knowing, because
if they wanted to replace it, they would have anyway.
Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
So I believe they knew by the way that, Yeah,
there's an actor named Dick would but that's a different
kind of movie.
Speaker 4 (01:11:47):
Yeah. Yeah, that was in the sand Fernando Valley. That's
where they filmed that, that movie.
Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
Which is unbelievable. But yeah, so I believe they knew.
I do.
Speaker 4 (01:12:00):
The uh uh you pop through me off for that
funny one the uh uh? Yeah, So that meant that
that's good to know because if that's true, it means
the Jets purposely passed on a QB, you know, and
we're happy with this kid. They must have thought this
kid's a hidden jam or something.
Speaker 2 (01:12:20):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:12:20):
My question was, though, I don't see any receiver out
there that is worthy of a fairly decent draft pick
free agency, I mean a trade, a trade receiver. Uh,
I don't want to give up a decent draft pick.
(01:12:43):
We have to pick whether we want to maybe eke
out a halfway decent season or whether we want to
keep our picks for a quarterback of the future. If
Fields doesn't come through and keep all our picks for
next year. That's the conundrum the Jets have this year
is that, you know, you know, it'll come at the
(01:13:08):
trade point, the midway trade point. If we're playing five
hundred ball, they might just go do it, and Fields
is playing okay. But if the Jets are like, you know,
two and fours, you know whatever, whatever, it'd be. Yeah,
and please don't give up draft picks. You know we're
gonna we're gonna have to. I guess it was one.
(01:13:29):
Was it mcshae who said we're picking first.
Speaker 1 (01:13:32):
Yes, Tom McShay has his projection picking first. ESPN had
us fourth, but they I don't know. I can't speak
to mcshay's why I had them number one if he
just thinks they're gonna be really bad. Jordan Reid for
ESPN in their mock draft, having them at four was
purely based off of their analytic betting system, so he said,
it's not my opinion whether or not they suck or
(01:13:53):
not or yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:13:55):
But mcshae whorries you know that that one kind of says, hello, sweetie,
mca uh McShee worries me a little bit. But so
is this quarterback we got. Is he a pocket or
does he have legs?
Speaker 1 (01:14:11):
Who he's having Britty Cook? Yeah, yeah, Brady Cook does
have legs. As a matter of fact, like I said
when I joined late, Sorry, yeah, no, I got you.
When he came out of the combine, he was number
one in every athletic category that was forty yard dash,
ten yard split, twenty yard shuttle, broad jump, vertical jump.
So athleticism, no question running ability, he was the fastest.
(01:14:33):
I think he ran a four five nine at the
forty yard dad. So he's not Lamar Jackson Jalen Milroe,
but he could take the green grass ahead of him
and more times than not, you know, he won't beat
a corner or something, but he's got decent enough speed.
So two HAPs point about type, right, Justin Field's mobile guy,
Tyrod Taylor mobile guy, Brady Cook mobile guy. They all
(01:14:54):
sort of fit the same profile of what they look for.
So yeah, he's got decent legs. And again the path
seems pretty clear for him to be QB three. Asian Martinez.
I was really high on last year and he showed
some huts. But in the preseason. But I'm kind of
curious if they just want to sort of reset the clock.
I get a younger guy just sort of marinate on.
Speaker 4 (01:15:12):
It's interesting with the legs aspect because you know, everybody
keeps saying, oh Glenn, you know, all he ever says
is Detroit, Detroit, Detroit, Detroit. Well, you know, they went
with GoF, who was a pocket quarterback, and so maybe
you know that that's a good sign that he's not,
you know, so married. You know, he's got his own,
(01:15:33):
his own vision. You know, you know he's not married
to the pocket system because that's exactly what GoF was,
you know. So you know, but apparently Aaron Glenn wants
which you know what if you think back to when
he played your dad, you know, you know that that
was his game, you know, and you know, kind of
(01:15:55):
hard hitting. You know, you know, he went up against
a lot of running quarterbacks as a corner and so
he respects a quarterback who can run. I once read
that that cornerbacks respect running quarterbacks almost more than anybody
because they're the one, like you were just saying, Paul jr. Uh,
(01:16:16):
they're the ones meeting them trying to come around the corner.
You know what I mean when they scramble the quarterback.
So you know, all right, guys, uh, you know, I
have a good weekend and yeah and and uh, enjoy
your buffet. How much did they charge?
Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
It's free free if you're a Hilton whatever whatever. Members.
Speaker 4 (01:16:40):
Oh oh oh oh.
Speaker 2 (01:16:42):
By the way, I'm not paying anyways the company.
Speaker 4 (01:16:45):
Well, I understand it's you're writing it off, but but
I was just curious what they were charging for it.
Speaker 10 (01:16:50):
You know, like.
Speaker 4 (01:16:53):
Bill, what's that one in Vegas? The famous one in Caesars?
Is that like a eighty nine? They had a TV?
Speaker 10 (01:17:02):
I wanted.
Speaker 4 (01:17:02):
It's ridiculous. How much food goos to there? Right?
Speaker 1 (01:17:05):
Love it? Thanks Rich, appreciate you man, Southern jet Rich.
We got one more caller before we wrap up the show. Here.
Let's go to our guy MJ. Here on the show
with five hundred people in the room. What's up, MJ?
Speaker 7 (01:17:17):
Hey, guys, good morning, how y'all doing. I was wondering,
what's your popped out of the Cowboys draft overall?
Speaker 2 (01:17:27):
Yeah, I was pretty pleased with the later rounds, not
very fond of the first round, but I know they
had to replace Zach Martin, so right, but I think
it'd be interesting. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:17:41):
Well the reason I called I think, Paul, you didn't
you interview Josina Anderson?
Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
Yes, I have, yes, Yeah, what is your impression of her?
Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
That's a good question. H The thing I would say,
especially right here live on the show, having my daughter
on my lap, is that it's it's a tough business,
uh in general. Uh so, just regardless of gender, it's
a tough business. And when you're you know, when you're
a female in this business, you almost have to do.
Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
Uh go ahead, honey, It's okay, You're okay.
Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
Uh, you have to like it's sort of crazy, like
you know, like uh, jeez, you know, uh, guys, let
me just reset. I'm sorry, honey, uh when one second,
(01:18:39):
one second, I'll be right back.
Speaker 2 (01:18:45):
Oh there he goes.
Speaker 7 (01:18:47):
He's uh you know, because you know, I'm the uh
you know, I'm a jeffs fan, you know, living in Dallas,
you know, and uh, I bet you, I bet you
and I could we could talk cowboys for hours, probably
because I'm probably as big as a cowboys famish you are.
Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
Okay, yeah, sorry about that. So yeah, any who again,
long story short, it's very hard to do this business
in general, because there's only so many limited spots. When
you are a woman in the business, it's almost like
we're guys and I'm like, hey you it's almost default
that I assume you know, not just me, but like
people assume that guys know football. When a woman is there,
(01:19:22):
we go like, hey, what's the blood type of justin fields?
Oh you don't know that? Like we almost have to
for whatever reason, and it sucks, but we put people
at a default level. They have to prove themselves in
terms of sports. So I love that we have, you know,
join Anderson and hopefully many even more women. Obviously there's
more women that just earned the business, but as a
(01:19:44):
NFL insider, breaking stories and things of that nature. I
think when she joined us the last time, we had
a kind of a candid conversation about some of the
criticisms that people have of her, because some of the
criticisms people say is she said, like, she'll say a lot,
but then you go, huh, what's you say? It almost
sounds like she talks in riddles sometimes, and she sort
of explained the thought process of that. And when you
(01:20:06):
hear the thought process of someone that you assumed you knew,
why the riddle thing was, and then you hear the answer,
it makes you think twice. So she talks about the
information that insiders receive and they sometimes can't be straight
up and just share what they heard, so they have
to sort of veil it to protect their source, but
also they want to show that, hey, we know what's
going on. So it's kind of an interesting So whoever
(01:20:28):
didn't see that interview months ago, I highly recommend checking
that out. There was sort of interesting because I think
there's a lot of assumptions made about Josina Anderson out
in the universe, but if you listen at an interview,
I think she did a really good job of explaining
sort of the why behind some of that for Josina.
Speaker 7 (01:20:43):
Yeah, I got the impression too that she, you know,
she was somewhat intelligent. And does she cover the Jets
quite often.
Speaker 1 (01:20:51):
Or Jets connections? Yeah, Okay.
Speaker 7 (01:20:55):
The reason I'm bringing that up is because you know,
I'm a Livan Dallas. I was telling your dad, you know,
I'm a Cowboys fan. I live in Dallas. I'm you know,
I was just randomly on Twitter looking at something, you know,
I I follow some of the mAbs tweets, and I
saw this mAbs tweet was a response to one of
her tweets that she after the after the Lakers lost,
(01:21:17):
you know that when when they when they lost to
you know, to Minnesota. You know, she basically sends a
tweet of she basically says, are you Twitter trolls now
going to apologize to Nico Harrison? Nico Harrison was a
GM that basically traded the generational talent Luka Doncic to
the Lakers. And people are still incensed about that trade.
(01:21:41):
I mean people are It's been three months and people
and she is getting ripped. I mean people are saying,
you know, and it just makes me wonder. Now. I
know that her thing is football, but man, I mean
for her to send a tweet like that, I mean,
there are thousands of people that are just saying, are
you tarted? You know for sending that.
Speaker 2 (01:22:02):
I mean, that's like a Babe Ruth trade. You know,
we traded Babe Ruth.
Speaker 7 (01:22:06):
Now. I know that Luca didn't look great in the playoffs,
but this guy's a generational player, talent and forgetting. And
Anthony Davis is not bad, but he's not Luka Doncic,
you know, I mean, and Luca is going to win
a championship. The question is win, and you know, people
talk he's being ripped by the media about being out
of shape and all that. But I'm telling you, it's
(01:22:27):
just like it just makes me wonder about someone's intelligence
to even did you understand?
Speaker 2 (01:22:33):
I mean, yeah, no, I got you, m Jay, So
I appreciate I appreciate it. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:22:37):
I would say this just in general. The thing that
makes Dallas look bad is that they made this STrenD
and said we can win. Now they got eliminated in
the playing round, so it looks really bad on them. Also,
I just want to clear something up. So Jo Homes said,
when Josina Anderson mistook Data White for Joe Rogan, I
was howling, you have that wrong, Yo Holmes. That was
Sage Steele who mistook Data White. She's doing a one
(01:22:59):
on one inter you Dana. Sage Steele was doing a
one on one interview with Dana White. You guys could
google it. Dana White mistaken for Joe Rogan, she said
in front of him, and then asked a few questions,
and Dana White's like, do you think I'm Joe Rogan?
And then it all turned into the soccer thing. So
not Justine Anderson, that is Sage Steele. I wanted to
just make sure that's very clear.
Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
Another name of an actress in some of those special movies.
Speaker 1 (01:23:23):
Well, there you go. Yeah, so that is a that's
a different African American female reporter. So you know Holmes, different, different,
different on the program. All right, pop, that's gotta wrap
up the show.
Speaker 5 (01:23:38):
Here.
Speaker 1 (01:23:38):

Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
I actually walked through the buffet playing Hulk Hogan's theme song.
Speaker 1 (01:23:58):
Yeah, I bet they were. I appreciated that. Yes, did
you tear off your T shirt? Did you motion to
the crowd, and did you say, let me tell you something, brother?
Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
