Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome into the Boys Get Paid podcast. These are your
best bets of the week listening to what the lads
had to say. So let's get cracking with the harness bets.
I can kick things off perhaps with the scan Man
on Friday night Addington Race too. He's going for the
Mantis paying two dollars seventy when a super race against
some nice three year olds last week and was unlucky
over the last three undred menus when looking for gaps

(00:21):
the start prior an a slashing second when doing plenty
of work with any luck. Looks tough to beat on
Friday night. So that can kick your night off well
at Addington, Dan, you found something at at Alexander Park
as well, mate.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Yeah I did, and I've gone to Ray seven the
Group one Canusius Club Phillies Classic. I'm Sandra d now
fresh up. This horse went huge, It had the last,
the fastest last mile eight hundred, six hundred, four hundred
and two hundred, came from last and flew home, came
home quite nicely. Two starts ago this horse I galloped twice,

(00:56):
still went around race really fiercely, sat parked and then
still stuck on really gamely for fourth. This is a
really big, strong shrapping Philly. I think she's really progressive.
They're going to go really hard in this race. The
big money's up. I think she's going to get a
nice drag through. Hopefully she's on a better sit, a
little bit closer than she did last week. Eight dollars

(01:16):
and two dollars forty. I'm big on this one, very.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Big, love it and Fitz he's gonna Macha karata is
that on Sunday Sunday On Sunday Sunday session. He'll be
at church so he won't be able to watch it.
But take after him, take after me and race number
five grand Campaigner has great manners. Expect him on speed
in the fast lane, in the fight late on in
the fight lane, fucking.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Fight late Where am I? That's about all we go?

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Matead to see him in the fucking yeah? Oh fantastic.
I don't think guess I guess I was on a
race ten, but he's been scratched in So do you
have old Maddy Markham's harness halo and best bit for
this week?

Speaker 4 (01:55):
In mate?

Speaker 1 (01:56):
You Guesso's given us another one is good late mail,
So we should tell the other one that he liked too,
that old twenty six dollars of buckskin. Oh no, it
wasn't one of these races.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
It was Diesels.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Diesel.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Yeah, throw that in a little bit, was it guesses Diesel?

Speaker 2 (02:13):
So guess he's got a moder carra On Sunday Race
eight Zea Bromac. The odds are not out yet, but
we might get eight dollars racing well of late. Usually
an on pace runner, but from the draw will settle midfield,
big long, straight, will suit grass, no issue loves a
stand start. So that's Sunday Motorcarrara Race eight Zea Bromac.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Okay, there we go and the Harness Halo rack men
the Harness.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
Hello, Maddie Markham.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Markham has gone to Race seven and Addington Charlie Brown
two brilliant seconds and the two lead up races to
the New Zealand Trotting Cup behind Dalton Shard to start
the campaign.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Unlucky to have not won both of them.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Great form from the stand will eat up the twenty
meter handicap and it runs anywhere up to his us
to efforts.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
He'll win this seventy open grass hardest. It's Addington it's
Addington standing.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Start, this thing goes alright, and then we've got to
boost it out to three dollars fifty two seventy out
three fifty crazy dollars.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Gamble responsible Yeah yeah, maximum bit job brack man. Anyone
can bet on.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
It, anyone, any even Charlie Brown himself.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
That's the hardest salo on Friday night, Charlie Brown Race seven.
Have a crack at that. On the futures page. What
is that the futures page of the.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Racing it's it's the racing section on the futures.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Yeah, just find it there on the left hand side,
harness section of the racing futures. Yeah, was it so hard?

Speaker 1 (03:47):
It's a real tongue twisted.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
He will put the link into the app for those
of you who can't find it, you'll be able to
click on the link and you will take yourself to
the futures section of the racing page.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Se it's a bloody good idea, Luke. That's outstanding, mate.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Easy, we'll put it. We'll put it in the email
tomorrow as well.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Good. And there you can also find the blessed bet
this weekend, which yeah, like I said, for some reason,
it's been given to me, but I think no one
else put their hand up, and everyone was very keen
on the arras, and I've made it my best bet
for this weekend. The tab have boosted it out from
two dollars and five cents to two dollars fifty, which
at this point in time looks pretty silly. Money. Was

(04:23):
the best bet for me a couple of weeks ago
when it got crunched into a dollar eighty. Couldn't quite
get the job done that day over sixteen hundred meters.
Many Cartwright was running racing on Wolfgang, who beat it
that day. Many Cartwright jumps on the ras this Saturday
up to twenty one hundred meters. Loves that distance, two
from three over that, and I think all of those
punters that lost their money on it two weeks ago

(04:45):
could hopefully get their money back.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
On it this week.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
That's the blessed bet in thearraus two dollars five out
of two dollars fifty race too, Elsie Ragman.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, man, I'm going to Allesleie Meeting to race three
Jack Crab, and I think this one was actually one
of Ted's best bets.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Hopefully it doesn't run like a crap.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Hopefully goes straight and fast. Run well last start at
Rua Kaka. Still look to do a few things wrong.
It was a little bit green down the straight. It's
drawn well again. Matt Cartwright riding out of his skin.
Two do oh five looks good enough for me.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
I'm gonna do fong going to e erase number six. Jbjesus,
I hope this horse wins the Dream Team combine. We
get Adriaanbull times Kelly Myers like Matt car Right riding
out of her skin. This horse loves the wet track,
loves the mile and loves the track as well. Time
to get our Cup week cash back. Get it done,

(05:37):
JBG will put the yellow caps up?

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Is there a first pass the posts? Market on this
race too?

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Lop? This is.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
One right?

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Yeah, good race, isn't it right?

Speaker 3 (05:49):
There you go?

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Tied's best is actually tomorrow at Topepaw Topoor Race seven.
My Any Bell paying four dollars forty nice man resuming
following a trial at Tarappa last month, and the half
sister to Melody Bell did well on debut, so she
does go well fresh. I know Ted's like this horse
all last season say he's taken the opportunity to make

(06:11):
it his best bet. Topaul Race seven my any bell,
who's got the Goat's lads?

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Who's in the goats? You'd be laughing all the way
to third Taylor's house with this one. If I'm going
to erace number seven, comedy trialed nicely on a wet
track before it's the last run at Hawk's Bay, so
should handle the wet. If I'm going to be track
on Saturday, looks a winnable race for it gets stuck
in outstanding.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Like we said, when goat is on here is going
to be on. I think that's paying some good money
there too, so you might as well have a crack
at it. Those are your best bets for the week.
They'll get you paid. Make sure you follow us on Facebook,
Instagram and other social media channels. Tune in next week.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
