Speaker 1 (00:00):
Right o, Welcome in to the Monday Recap this week
on a Tuesday, it's episode eight. Are we going through
some of the feature races over the weekend and we'll
review the best bets from the lads as well as
chat about anything of importance that we've got coming up.
And gee weez, it is starting to get to the
busy part of the season.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
We've got a lot going on over the next few weeks.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
So we'll kick it off and we'll jump straight and
we'll talk about the Blessed Bet and the Harness Halo
will go to the Harness Halo. On Friday night, it
was Addington Race too, a horse called the Mantis, and look,
this horse had a tough draw. It was the second
line drawer, but it got the perfect trip through. It
ended up in the one one and got the perfect
run and it looked a really good chance of the

(00:43):
eight hundred and then the horse just stopped and faded
and yeah, it's probably duist spell. I'd say, this horse
probably needs to go out into the greener pastures and
heat a bit of some of that lovely Cantabrian grass
and maybe come back again couple of months. Yeah, a
little bit disappointing for the Hardness Halo. It looked like

(01:03):
it was home for all money at the eight hundred
before fading and sending us home with nothing. And we
had the Blessed Bet on Saturday as well. It was
Ali's the race eight and it was horse called Son
of Son, which was actually my best bet of the weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
And yeah, look, this horse had the perfect trip in
the end of jump.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
It was just sitting in behind the speed, and I
think it was a bit of a slowly run affair
in the early stages, so it really ended up being
sort of a sit in sprint, which I don't think really.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Suited this horse.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Looking back at the race a couple of times, I
think that maybe just a few of these horses were
a little bit smarter and a little bit better, but
maybe with a little bit more of a truly run affair,
it would have had a chance to at least fight
out the finish.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
But it wasn't to be.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Son of Some run fifth in the end, which was
get disappointing race eight.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
But it is what it is. Will move on.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Interesting the ROI from the Blessed Bet and the Harness Halo.
So far we're basically putting an imaginary one unit bet
per week on and then we do the result minus
the investment to give us the total units of profit.
And so far the season, considering it's a long season,
we've got six point two units of profit on the

(02:23):
Blessed bet. So if you had one hundred bucks every
week on the bless bet, you would have six hundred
and twenty dollars worth of profit.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
As it stands, the Harness.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Halo is negative six units of profit and we'll be
looking to bounce back this weekend. It's only going to
take a couple of winners for the Harness Halo for
us to turn this ship around, right the ship and get.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Us on the right track.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Right. We'll move on now and review all the best
bets from the lads the both the harness and the
gallops community over the weekend, and of course my harness
best bet on the weekend was a horse called wag
Star was at Race ten at Addington and almost everything
went the way that I thought it would. It got around,

(03:09):
got to the lead, it had to do a little
bit more work than maybe we wanted it to, but
actually turning in for home he looked to be the
winner and looked to be traveling and actually looked like
he was gonna maybe kick away with it, but maybe he.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Was just short of a run second up. It was
only a second.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Run off a spell and probably has a little bit
more improvement in him. It was a good run to
run second in the end from Wagstar and his first
sort of run against really the big guns. So I
was really happy with the way that he run, but
just could have maybe finish it off a little bit
more impressively. But hopefully we'll see him on New Zealand

(03:47):
Cup Day in a race like the Junior Free for
All or something like that. I think this horse would
be a great chance in a race to that, and
I'll be looking to go chips in on some of
that if that pops up. Scan Man had the Manta
So that was the Harness Halo when we've already covered
that off. Markham's best was Addington Mediate Race five and

(04:08):
it was Boris o'caine and Markham is.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Starting to find some form.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
It was the best horse in the field and they
went really crazy, as you would probably expect from a
junior driver's competition. Well, it was actually the last race
of that junior Driver's Championship and then Boris Ocaine just
pulled out at the right time.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
And then it just crushed him by a distance.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
In the end, Markham, Yeah, really is starting to find
some form, So jump on his coat tails, because I'd
say as soon as these guys start to find some form,
you just start backing the ones that they're putting out
because they just tend to keep winning. Gasso went to
Race six, Triple G, and it all started pretty well
for this horse that got around and ended up in

(04:53):
the park position, and then I thought there was maybe
some strange tactics there when Jimmy James McGuire came up
for a look to potentially take the park position, Triple
G kicked up and ended up putting a bit of
pace into the race, which allowed a gap for Jimmy
James McGuire to get into the one to one, and

(05:15):
really that's probably what I would have said where Triple
G should have been. So he ended up stuck on
a limb, parked and really stuck on and fought on
bravely for fourth, but disappointing because there was some really
good each way value around Triple G. So we'll follow
Gasso next week. I'm sure he's going to find us
some more value again, Fitzi's best bet was moments like this,

(05:40):
and you look, you can probably forget that this horse
went around at galloping the score up and effectively started
from the unruly, which was like a length or two
of them at the start, and from that point it
was an impossible task. So moments like this will give
a forgive on that one for galloping. But yeah, a
little bit disappointing. That's best he had Lanikai and Yacky interest.

(06:06):
Things didn't quite go Lanikai's way. Yeah, I'm not sure
about this horse and what's next for it, but yeah,
just I think the way the races panned out at
Allesley on Sunday, I think there's gonna be a few
forgives there. When there's a slow tempo at Allesley, it
seems like there is very much an on pace bias.

(06:30):
I don't necessarily think that it's an on pace bias track.
I just think it's going to be tempo related, which
a lot of races are.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Like.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
If you get soft sectionals up top, typically the horses
up top tend to kick on. But it does definitely
seem a little bit pronounced at Allesley sona san We
already covered that that was my best bet.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Kemy's.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
This guy just cannot stop picking winners this season.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
He is on absolute fire.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
He went out as he meeting to race Sex and
he went with a horse called the Odyssey, and just
everything went to script for this horse and it actually
won really impressively, come down the outside and really put
a margin on him in the end and was almost
eased down and this was a really impressive win. I
think this horse now is three from three at the

(07:20):
twenty two hundred, so a really promising stayer of the
future and from all accounts it's sort of next main
target is going to be the County's Cup for this bloke,
which is definitely a race that he can win. We'll
keep you keeping an eye on that. I think that's
around the twenty fifth of the twenty sixth of November,

(07:41):
so we'll keep an eye out on where the Odyssey goes.
But yeah, he's definitely a stayer of the future, that's
for sure. Ted's best Unfortunately it was scratched and that
was Twain. Will follow Twain moving forward because I think
he can definitely pick up a win the Goat's best
bet was mean too, and it was at race one.

(08:02):
It was loose change and look, this horse had the run.
I got up the inside in the straight and had
every chance really to put them away and win. But yeah,
a couple of horses managed to come from midfield and
get over the top of them late. Just yeah, I'm
not sure this horse is going to get a better
chance than it did on Saturday to win a race.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Yeah, twenty two start made in now.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
I'm sure it'll pick up one at one point, But yeah,
I don't know if I can keep following that yet had.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Every chance and just didn't get the job done unfortunately.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
ROI for the best bets, and again, look, I'm keeping
track of all the best bets for the lads for
the whole year to see how they are traveling. We
put an imaginary one unit bet each way on each
of their bets for the whole season, and then we
do the total return minus the investment to give us
a units of and Kemmy's has fifteen point two five

(09:04):
units of profit for the season, which is just outrageous.
Ted sitting in second place with eight point five to
five units of profit, and the Scanman third with two
point six six units of profit, So the leaderboard hasn't
changed much. But look, there is still plenty of racing
to come and anything can happen over the next few

(09:26):
months as we go through New Zealand Cup Carnival and
in to January Kadaka Millions onto the Champions Day as well,
so there's a lot going on. Write a review of
the weekends racing. I'm only going to review a few
races this week. First of all, we're going to start
with the Everest, the big One, and what a race.
An outstanding win from bally Nipettina after having a sit

(09:50):
three wide and then just.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Tough them out in the end.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
I thought gigcock kick was huge and an outstanding training
performance really from Clayton Douglas. To have this whole come
back and be at its best peeking for the Everest
after what were really a couple of pretty lackluster runs.
I think a lot of people had written this horse off,
including myself, and gee was he just knew his horse,

(10:14):
he knew he was going to come back to his
best and.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
He sure did. He almost pulled it off.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
So yeah, out standing to see Giga kick those first
two sort of got away on them a bit, and
there was really a wall of horses after that, including
Jolly Starr, which I thought was a huge run coming
from so far back, growing Empire, Great Guns again as well,
Private Eye I thought was huge after sitting three wide
as well, and Laddie A Camanot and Sunshine and Paris.

(10:39):
All of those horses you could throw a blanket over.
They were pretty much in a line. A couple of
takeaways from the race. I think storm Boy needs a
chance to be ridden differently. They can't just keep chasing
this horse out like that. Again, he didn't finish that
far off them and was really brave. But the Everest
is not known to be a race where you can

(11:01):
lead and kick on and win.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Not many horses do that.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
I think even when Nature Strip Run won the race,
he didn't lead. He came from a trailing position. So
I think it proves that even good front running horses
don't win the Everest. And so I'm hoping that maybe
they give Stormboy a chance at taking a sit and
coming from behind them, because I think we might see

(11:26):
a better performance from this horse. I think, you know,
on face value, I wish I'll win. Was obviously disappointing,
had a really off day. It sounds like there's no
obvious issues with the horse, which is really good news.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Would have been sad to.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
You here that there were issues with them, but he's
definitely gone to the paddock now and had a rest.
He's not really had that many off days where I
wish I'll win, so you can forgive him for having one.
Is definitely obviously disappointing, in a bit of a shame,
but look, it is what it is. The other race
I wanted to talk about on the day as well

(12:04):
was the King Charles and a horse called Cheo Wolf,
and man, this horse has come onto the scene in
the big way after having a really big couple of
weeks last week, took out the Doncaster and now won
the King Charles.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
The third.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
I thought Pridor Jenny was made to work a bit
and that very strange early tactics there sort of five
and sex off the fence and then having to work
quite hard to get to the top.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Cheowolf had all the work to do.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
He was right back on the fence on the inside,
but as they came around the corner they spread out
a bit and he got the perfect run through to get.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
To the outside of Fangirl.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
I think about the three hundred, he still had about
five links to make up, and he really put in
some powerful strides in particular that last hundred, and he
ended up winning quite impressively. I thought Pride of Jenny
was really brave after fighting off my Oberon, and she
looks ready to step up to the two thousand and
forty meters now for the coxplate, So it's gonna be

(13:14):
really interesting to see how she goes on the Cox plate.
But yeah, cheer Wolf, Wow, this horse is a horse
of the future. Two big races back to back. I
wouldn't be surprised to see him in the autumn in
things like the Queen Elizabeth and taken on the absolute
top liners.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
The other one just to take out.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
From the weekend as well as obviously it was pretty
sad to see think about it go down at the
straight at Randwick. By all accounts, it sounds like the
horse is okay and it's recovered well and hopefully now
they're gonna retire that horse to you a nice farm
and it can eat some nice pasture and relax. Obviously,

(13:57):
it was the everest winner from last year. I was
very sad to see it go down the way that
it did, and you never liked to see it the
races when they pull the blankets up or pull the
sheets up around a horse, but they managed to get
this one back to its feet and it walked back
to the stables. So really nice to see that. And

(14:17):
hopefully he has a really nice retirement well now and
I'm sure he's going to be really well looked after,
and yeah he'll be beloved for sure.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Another thing on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
Was the Corfield Cup, which is funny because you know,
ten years ago or five maybe even five years ago,
this used to be Corefield Cup Day and that used
to be the major event, but now it's the Everest
Day in the Coorlfield Cup's almost like a play second.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
Fiddle to the Everest, which is very interesting.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
And nonetheless, the Corfield Cup was an outstanding run race
and Duke Decessa taking it out. It was a great
ride from Harry Coffee. He just sat in behind Deny
knowledge and talk about the six hundred when he took
off and put a gap on them turning for home,
which actually proved to be the winning of the race.
So outstanding work there. From Harry Coffee and Duke de Sessa.

(15:11):
A deserved win from them. I thought the run of
the race was Buckaroo. He was huge. He was so
far back. He was back near maybe fifth or sixth
last with Warmonger. Now he did get the gaps and
get the splits through the field, but he was the
best sectionals in the race and he came from a
mile back at the six hundred.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
To get within a couple of lengths.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
I'm not sure if they're heading to the Melbourne Cup
with this horse, but geez, he's found some form in
his last three starts and if they do lock this
horse in for the Melbourne Cup, I know I will
be backing it, that is for sure. Saturday as well,
the Scamman giving out some more same race maltis in

(15:54):
the BGP group on the Ossie Harness. He seemed to
make a bit of a habit out of this over
the last couple of weeks. So keep an eye out
in the Facebook group on a Saturday afternoon for the
scan man putting out these same race malties because they
seem to be paying good value. You get in five
six bucks for these same race maulties and he's like

(16:14):
a rain man. He can just figure out exactly how
a race is going to be run and manages to
find the race. Multis so follow the scanman for that
because he's been absolutely crushing it right events the event
on the weekend we seen the King of the Punt
at Everest and what an our standing event. I hope
everyone had a great day. I know I had an

(16:35):
absolute blast. We had fifty three teams entered and the
comp was really hitting up as we started to get
closer to the Everest. Different points throughout the day, I
think myself, the Goat and Matt Daddy will all have
the lead, and then I think we're all sort of
battling to try and find a couple more winners to

(16:56):
put a gap on the rest of the field.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
But I know myself, I.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Had a big lunges at a few horses and they
didn't come off, which ended up putting me in the
predicament of having to go all in on the Everest
to have a chance of winning.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
And I backed I Wish I win.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
I had a personal side bet on Private Eye obviously earlier,
so I thought I'd cover myself with a bet with
I Wish I win.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
I think.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Yeah, I'm not sure what the Goat and Matt Daddy had,
but a couple of young lads, Missy and Phoenix, from
a team called We Climbed Everest. They backed Bala Nipotina
in the Everest and of course Balla sitting three wide
and winning that race ended up projecting them guys into
the lead to win the.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
King of the Pump.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
So outstanding to see that it was in the last
race where they actually got ahead and got on top
and one so well onto Missy and Phoenix, absolute legend
guys as well. They were pumped to have won and
you love to see it as well. They were so excited,
they were so happy and really that's what it's all about.
So enjoy your prizes lads. Two K bonus cash, two

(18:08):
thousand dollars cash and a phishing charter out on Wish
for Fish, which it sounds like a couple of the
lads from BGP might be going out with you boys
on that charter on the day as well.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
So how good. It was really good to see so
many people in the room.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
We set a bunch of legends from the harness community
as well, Tony Hurley and Maddie White, Tony Cameron, Sala Shabanathy.
It was awesome to see you guys all out there
as well, and thanks for coming along. Thanks for everyone
for coming along to the King of the Punt. We
really hope you enjoyed yourself. Next events coming up, of course,
we've got New Zealand Cup Week. We're doing the National

(18:44):
Punters Club from Thursday through to Saturday. The Punters Club
is now open. You can go into your tab app
down the bottom right hand corner, there's a button where
you can click more. When you hit that up the
top right hand corner, you will see boys get paid,
you join into the group, and once you're in the group,
there are three options up the top. Up the top

(19:04):
right hand side you can see pot. If you click pot,
you can then into money into the Punters Club. So
a little bit of a different way now to enter
into the Punters Club. I think we've already got about
six or eight grand in the pot already. Obviously we've
got a few weeks now before we build in to
New Zealand Cup Week and start to get that up there.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
But we're going to have a crack at the tab.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
We're going to try and recreate twenty nineteen when we
backed He's a Doozy and Cyrus and we were taking
the bookies for a run before the race meeting on
the Saturday got abandoned. But yeah, we're hoping to rarely
fire it up again this year. So if you want
to be involved in the Punters Club, jump onto your

(19:45):
TB app. You can only do it through the app,
so you cannot join through the website or through bidding
retail terminals. You have to do it through the app,
So log into the app and join the Punters Club
for New Zell and Cup Week, we're doing a couple
events down at Cupweek this year as well. We're doing
an event at Thursday at the Pups and tickets are

(20:09):
now available. There are one hundred and seventy dollars per
person and it's an all inclusive experience so it includes
all your food and all your drinks and as a
private BGP area as well myself, Kemy's, Fitzi, Maddie, we're
all going to be down there, maybe even the Goat
I think might be coming on the Thursday as well
to the Pups, and we'll be looking to back another

(20:33):
gold Star car Lego and get up for the Punters
Club on that Thursday night, so one hundred and seventy bucks.
If you want a ticket, it's really easy. Send an
email to Sarah at christ Church Greyhounds dot cod at
z's that's sareh at chrish Church Greyhounds, dot cod and
z to book your spot. One hundred and seventy bucks,

(20:53):
all your food, all your drinks. It's actually really good value.
So yeah, it'll be a big night at the Pups.
On the Thursday night, Friday Harness, we have an event
at the Harness which is the new Twilight Meeting featuring
the two new five hundred thousand dollars slot races, the
Ascent and the Velocity. Tickets are available now and if

(21:15):
you buy your ticket to the Harness before this Friday,
you'll go in the draw to win two tickets to
the sold out Punter's Lounge on the Tuesday Cup day.
So if you're going to come along to the Friday
and you know that you're going to come, you might
as well buy some tickets now. Buy some tickets now
before Friday and you could go in the draw to

(21:36):
win two tickets to the sold.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Out Punter's Lounge. If you've already got tickets to the Tuesday.
That's or good.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
Maybe you could give away those two tickets if you
win them, or even sell them as well and get
a bit of cash to throw into the Punters Club.
Tickets for the Harness are one hundred and fifteen dollars
per person. That includes food throughout the day and you
get four drinks vouches as well. We're in the grass
right in front of the winning post, so we'll be
screaming home some winners for the Punter's comp as well.

(22:01):
Karrak a Million's tickets are available now as well.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Check out the BGP app for all the events.

Speaker 1 (22:06):
We're also selling tickets now to Champions Day, so you
can jump into the BGP app to buy those as well.
Karrak a million tickets. The early bird pricing is going
to go away soon, so if you want tickets for
the Karaka Million, they will sell out, and especially the
early bird pricing which is one hundred and fifty dollars
at the moment, they will be sold out and the

(22:27):
ticket price will increase for the Karaka Millions tickets the
same for Champions Day as well, So if you want
tickets and you don't want to miss out, I know
that a lot of the hospitality at Allisley is already
sold out, so if you want to come along, grab
your tickets. Early Melbourne Cup days coming up as well.
We're going to be at the full Time Sports Bar,

(22:48):
which is the new Warriors Slash Tab Bar in Kingsland.
It's not going to be a ticket at event, but
anyone who wants to come along, you're welcome to come
and join us and hang out for the day. We're
just going to be having a few bears and having
a bit of a punt. That's the full Time Sports Bar.
It's not a ticketed event, but you're welcome to come along.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Right. That's a wrap now for the Monday Recap on
a Tuesday, the.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
Podcast will take a week off, but we should be
back the following week in a lead up to the
Melbourne Cup and of course New Zealand Cup week as well.
We're really fired up. Keep an eye out for the
best of be GP and the Friday Phillip, thanks for
joining me in taking a listen today. Remember every week
comment your best bet for a chance to win one
hundred dollar bet.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
We had another winner this week.
