In this episode of Bring the Pain, Dan and I are fresh out of the Fight Club of Pain, ready to slay another slate. With so many fighters dropping out and being matched up with others, we had to wait for many of the sports books to catch up before we could even see the odds. That made me think about how much the landscape has changed since we started the Fight Club. We'll discuss that as well as some fight theory for four of the main fights that we thought should be looked at deeper. at any moment at work, right and then all of
a sudden it seems like you're the only guy around.

So crazy, so crazy. But everybody that's new to the
fight Cup of Pain. Of course, what we talk about
is the UFC UFC only it's just what we do.

We focus on four fight It's four fights that luckily
didn't have any shenanigans.

One of them did, but that's okay.

We'll stick to that because those are the four fights
that we have been looking at the longest.

Sucks is that I wasted a lot of time, at
least over the past two weeks looking at some of
these soup cans, and and now they're not even fighting
because their visas didn't work or whatnot.

Yeah, I'm tired of these lame UFC cords that they're
just I feel like they should pay me to watch
these fights. Sometimes.

fight We have a cooler name than any other podcast
out there that covers the UFC.

But why we want to talk about We want before
we get into the bets, before we get into the fights,
and before of course we do our DFS picks. At
the end of the show, I'll do my lineup. Dan
does a live lineup unless he's got it ready already,
and that's okay, we'll do it live anyway. We'll just
throw something together because that's the fun of it. That's
the fun of what we're doing. And so many of

these fights can go either way. And now that some
of the fights have changed, like some have become one sided,
some have actually became a little more even and so
that actually happened in one of the fights. So that's
that's the cool thing to do. And that's when, you know,
the one of the fights were covering. So that being said,
what i want to say and what I've been talking

about and what I've noticed since taking over and doing
the Fight Club of Pain with Dan and everybody else
in the club that weighs in and gives their messages
and doesn't come on the live show, I'm calling all
of you all out. Y'all have to come on. I'm
talking about Jonathan anybody, Oh y'all. I mean Jonathan was
on the one time, so at least Jonathan came on.

But we got to get more of y'all into this,
more of it. So anyway, before they all get here,
because that'll just be a wild time. There could be
like eight of us in this room.

I want to talk about how the sites are behind
on dfs for UFC. Now, we talked about that briefly
for our NFL show a couple of weeks ago with
ed and you know what did you take from that?

I don't know, man the site that the sites are
a little iffy sometimes.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
So what is going on is as as of today,
FanDuel released their numbers. DraftKings had those out now. FanDuel,
of course the money lines were out. The money lines
didn't come out to earlier in the week. The DFS
lineups didn't.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Go live till yesterday late.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
So like literally when I when I joined the DFS slate,
it was like twenty six people. Now FanDuel or DraftKings
has had theirs out a couple of days earlier. But
what has happened is, and I know that they're not
all that behind the times. So before I start wrapping
you out FanDuel and DraftKings, I noticed that you guys

aren't releasing your lineups till later in the week, especially
you FanDuel.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
You are waiting a while.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
And it's for reasons like this, with all of the
fights canceled because of what happened, and then people filling in,
I mean people like of course now we have Billy
ray gofffighting Ramierz Brahmanage right so now, and those two
guys were supposed to fight, so you know, that was
one of the picks. And then you have you have

Trevin Giles now fighting Gustason and which a lot of
people still feel up and down about that. You have
as of yesterday, literally as of yesterday, Michael Aswell is
facing Bilogie Oki now and it's just totally thrown off.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
So I'm not to.

Say that it kind of the way that these fights
happened and canceled all the way up until yesterday, I
can't blame them for waiting. But at the same time,
let's get some numbers out there, let's get some ideas,
let's get some feels. You know, we already caught FanDuel
already canceling a contest on Friday. So when we say

that you guys are behind in times, you're behind in times, and.

You're scared shitless.

All the DFS sites are scared shitless because they can't
And most of these guys aren't real fighters. They're not
people that are active in the ring. And if they are,
I'm proud of you. But at the same time, yes,
I'm on a soapbox right now before we get into it,
But if you're What makes UFC dfs more unique than

NFL dfs, MLB dfs, NHL dfs, and NBA dfs is
the fact that at any one moment, a fight can change.
Any one moment, a stoppage can happen. We talk about this,
but this is a vital thing that's being overlooked in
the DFS sports.

Dan, I know you know a little bit about that.
What's up with the fight theory?
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Like compared towards football, Like why, what do you think
is the difference? Like, if you're gonna put your money
down on something, what would you do?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I would, truthfully, with the UFC, I'd do my homework. Man.
You have to actually know these fighters and know where
they're coming from, or watch us one of the two,
watch us and get watch us and get some pointers.
But you actually have to know what's going on because I,
like you said, like you said, any fight could stop
at any time, anytime. Yeah, I had one second someone

could be winning, the next second they're out cold.

Exactly what happened this weekend.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Unfortunately, you know to you know my daughter, it just
is one of those moments. And we're fighters, and we're
point fighters, and I went in and I dominated, but
you know, and there was some ref problems I had.
I got actually yelled at online because and that's okay,
because I deserved it. Because I think, you know, if
you win to fights and you extend your championship and

you are the try State champion, the blitz king himself, mister.

Right, if you're gonna do that.

Sometimes you do get a little full of yourself.

And so when you don't get a perfect call or something,
or somebody tells you they kick him in the butt,
but you really kicked him on the side right under
the armpit for the point. You know, you get a
little mad about that. But then you got to keep that.
You gotta leave that in the thing, because again, this.

Is martial arts. We should be showing respect, we should
be humble.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
So that's the fight theory that kind of needs that
ask that people have to understand that we're going at
you as a former boxer, you know, me as a
current point fighter.

I'm seeing punches.

I literally thought somebody knew for the first time. Unfortunately,
I did walk through Robert. I won thirteen to three,
not the mercy rule, but I was nice to I
did not use my clubb laying tech techniques and go
running through him. I actually let him be the more
aggressive fighter, let him. I mean, that's kind of bold,
but it's what happened, and I was able to take

him apart, and you know, both of us leave not sore,
not bruised up, not battered out of that fight. So
you know, that's something that was missing for me last
year where I was running through and I was training
fuls and I was getting knocked outs. You know, in
this sport, it's not you don't want the knockout. That
shows that you have no control over your power, honestly,
Whereas a UFC you have to knock your guy out.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
So yeah, boxing you got to knock your guy out.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
But in karate, in point fighting, in some tournaments not
all because you know sport karate, it is for the knockout.
And that's what a lot of people have made. So
that's the comparison and that's the expertise that Dan was
talking about that brings it. But you know a lot
of these sites don't have people like us, and that's
what's taking over.

And as we started it, this whole thing and getting in.

Before I pore everybody out of here and start getting numbers.
That is why they're all behind. That is why they're
scared of people like us. Since we took over. Fanduly

All right, we have Jeffelle Philo verse Alan not Cemento.

Tell me what, yes, Ah, Philo Filo or how however
he pronounce his name. He has a lot of momentum
right now. He has back to back first round submission
wins in his last two fights. Uh. He has beautiful
and slick wrestling in a very high level BJJ. Man,

he has potential and he knows how to finish fights.
He's four and one in his last five and uh,
Nomento needs to left. Watch out for that left hook
because he has a mean left hook.

Nomento hasn't fought in two years though.

No, no, he has not. He's taking some time off.

It's because this fight was actually scheduled about a year ago,
and even then he was about a year and a
half or so out.

he took some time off and now this sticks it.
But even then it was probably gonna be the favorite then.
Right now he's right there, he's he's actually the underdog.

He hasn't fought in two gears. I mean, he's also
a skilled grappler and he has a great fight I Q.
He does like the he likes to fight out of
his guard on his back. Man and and he could
scramble with the best in the division. What I saw
from Phillow is this is just wrestler versus wrestler right now.

that's all it is.

too as well too as that, you know, I think
Philo is the more active of the two fighters. I
think he has the better hands of the two. Because
of that, I want, I definitely I love the Philo
side of this. So for me, when you see all
that and you see the more activity, I mean, I
will say Nasa Mentu does try to use his sweeps
(12:38):
a lot. He does, so that's that's good and of course,
but those sweeps are just so he can try to
wrestle you down and get the BJJ going. But I
think you could be right. They both could be scared
to get down on the ground, or not scared but
just don't want to go that tactic. This gets stand
up for a little while until one of them figures
out that they might be losing, and then they're gonna
go for that BJJ.

Do you see a finish in this or do you
see a going decision?

I do not see a finish. I see Phil Hoo
winning by decision.

And you know I got Phil Hoo winning too, and
I do have the decision decision is the actual method
that we're going to go with this? However, you know,
on the like Club of Pain, I was already looking
at some things, so before I go to the go
a little bit on, I do want to say that
what I don't like about Nasamento, and this is what
leads to, you know, hump a mania, is his takedown

defense is sixteen percent. Yeah, his average is at least
one and a half a fight, but overall, man, his
accuracy sucks too, which will play into Phil Hoo's defense,
which is at fifty five percent, So therefore, I mean
he's a little at his strikes are a little up,
but phil Hoo doesn't absorb that much, so that's gonna

come down.

I think they're gonna be that.

I like what you're saying, but I'm gonna say I
don't mind the Phil ho second round knockout, Wow, sixteen
hundred plus sixteen hundred. If you want to seya, that's

two to three is a plus one thousand, and knockout
period before between either fighter, even though they're both BJJ

the distance with their money lines on this pick.

his last fight. It was a hard fought contest man
against Trey Waters.

It's like when you're in the heat of the moment,

He has a great gas tank, has relentless pressure, and
he's very durable man. He has a very high striking
output output, and he has an aggressive style. Plus he
has a one takedown defense. Whoa and brahamas Uh. He

just got his first UFC win by knocking out Mickey
Gall you know, a couple of months ago.

He has the superior grappling in this. We both know
that he's getting better with his stand up. But he

Goff is highly active. We've explained that we got he's

got great defense. But what I did like about this
is that both these fighters both had their fighters, you know, cancel.

And then they just they got together to make this
fight happen.

So at least both fighters have a chance in this
fight because they kind of both had a camp going
into this.

Like what you saw, like what's going on with Gustason
and Giles. Even though some people think that Giles is
probably the better fighter, Gustafson's gonna run through him. He's
literally gonna run through him. So I definitely have some
knockout props on Augustus in because you know, when you
look at the whole the land scene and what happened
to this card and all these like all these scribbles

I had to make right there, that that that changed
the entire landscape. So for me, if you're gonna make
money this week, you're gonna find the money here. And
that's why I again we picked these four fights, is
there is money to be made on these four fights.

There is so many different angles you could go at them.

Had the two BJ jays with Philo and Nasamento, now
we have the striker and golf with a little more
on the a wrestler's side with.

So let's get to another one. Let's get to the
comin event. Let's get to Matteo's gam rod first, Ludvig
Klein talk to a stand all.

Right, gam rock man. He's a he's an elite wrestler.
He has a great pace and he has the cardio
to match man. He is awkward yet effective striking like
he's so awkward when he comes in.
Speaker 1 (20:36):

He sets up his takedowns and clinches with that awkwardness.
But he has been dropped or wobbled in several fights.
In several of his last fights, Climb, he's on a
four fight winning street man. Uh. He hasn't faked faced
any top ranked fighters. Though he's a power You're right,

it's a powerful striker, great great takedown defense. He's smart, technical,
and he's quick on his feet. This is the classic
wrestler verse striker match man.
Speaker 1 (21:15):

I love the way this is it because we know
the we know the main event's gonna be fun. But
you know, so here we go. We got gam Rock
right again, awesome wrestler. So really, if you want to
do and I do think he's gonna do this, if
you can find this, find this line takedowns plus one
right you want to play game Rock takedowns. I do
(21:36):
think that he will be able to take down Klein.
But Klein is actually really good at with his defense.
As I pull that up right now, that that to
me with the Kleins like he's the kind of guy
that he battles out of the clinch instead of clinching
and trying to get out of the takedown. He kind

of hits his way out of that. So for me,
I mean, he's got a ninety one overall, but so
does gam Rock. So almost feels like if either one
of them cannot take the other one down, Gamrock's at
a serious disadvantage. But I do still feel that he's
gonna get that takedown. He's got the the experience, he's

been in the ring with better people. I mean, you know,
you could even say Ludvig Klein is kind of like
Raphael Vazeve in this way, you know, and we know
that you know, unfortunately got injured in that fight with yeah, Gamrock,
but but if Zive was lighting him up as well too,
and he has decent takedown defense as well too. So

I still think that Gamrock can get that one plus takedown,
which is easy money.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
I mean, he's got a whole fight to do.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
It, and Klein can definitely get taken down. But I
think when it gets down, Klein's gonna get backed up.

But overall, I don't see this going the distance. Man,
what about you?

I disagree. I think it's going to distance. I got
Gamera up by decision, Gamra up by decision.

You know, it doesn't surprise me that you're a game
Rock guy, you know. I I I'm trying to be
flashy because when I saw game Rock, this is the
first time I'm gonna watch him live. And you know again, yes,
I know, I'm a baby to the UFC because I
didn't watch it consistently and I'm a I'm a football hero,
but I'm the same time I look at the I

look at the Gamera out side, and it was my
first side.

I was like Gameracks winning.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
But then I looked more at Kline, and I looked
at the way he likes to battle out, and I
think that if he gets if gam Rock misses one
of those takedowns badly and Klein's able to hit, and
Kline has enough power, then he's gonna be able to
knock him out.

No, will the fight got the distance? The books think so, yes,
they think it's gonna go to the distance.

lineups didn't.

So like literally when I when I joined the DFS slate,
it was like twenty six people. Now FanDuel or DraftKings
has had theirs out a couple of days earlier. But
what has happened is, and I know that they're not
all that behind the times. So before I start wrapping
you out FanDuel and DraftKings, I noticed that you guys

aren't releasing your lineups till later in the week, especially
you FanDuel.

And it's for reasons like this, with all of the
fights canceled because of what happened, and then people filling in,

ray gofffighting Ramierz Brahmanage right so now, and those two

Trevin Giles now fighting Gustason and which a lot of
people still feel up and down about that. You have
as of yesterday, literally as of yesterday, Michael Aswell is
facing Bilogie Oki now and it's just totally thrown off.

Say that it kind of the way that these fights
happened and canceled all the way up until yesterday, I
can't blame them for waiting. But at the same time,
let's get some numbers out there, let's get some ideas,

but it's what happened, and I was able to take

him apart, and you know, both of us leave not sore,
not bruised up, not battered out of that fight. So
you know, that's something that was missing for me last
year where I was running through and I was training
fuls and I was getting knocked outs. You know, in
this sport, it's not you don't want the knockout. That
shows that you have no control over your power, honestly,
Whereas a UFC you have to knock your guy out.

So yeah, boxing you got to knock your guy out.

But in karate, in point fighting, in some tournaments not
all because you know sport karate, it is for the knockout.
And that's what a lot of people have made. So
that's the comparison and that's the expertise that Dan was

of these sites don't have people like us, and that's

but those sweeps are just so he can try to

think you could be right. They both could be scared
to get down on the ground, or not scared but
just don't want to go that tactic. This gets stand
up for a little while until one of them figures
out that they might be losing, and then they're gonna
go for that BJJ.

But Klein is actually really good at with his defense.
As I pull that up right now, that that to
me with the Kleins like he's the kind of guy
that he battles out of the clinch instead of clinching

I mean, he's got a ninety one overall, but so
does gam Rock. So almost feels like if either one
of them cannot take the other one down, Gamrock's at
a serious disadvantage. But I do still feel that he's
gonna get that takedown. He's got the the experience, he's

been in the ring with better people. I mean, you know,
you could even say Ludvig Klein is kind of like
Raphael Vazeve in this way, you know, and we know
that you know, unfortunately got injured in that fight with yeah, Gamrock,
but but if Zive was lighting him up as well too,
and he has decent takedown defense as well too. So

I still think that Gamrock can get that one plus takedown,
which is easy money.

fight that he's in. But I think he has the
cardio to withstand that.

to He's already conditioned to go three rounds and so
for me, that's that's huge, that's huge.
