In this episode of Bring the Pain, I reviewed UFC 319, which featured Dricus Du Plessis facing off against Khamzat Chimaev. We all know by now that Chimaev is the new champion, and rightfully so after the way he dominated Du Plessis. I talk about all of the fights and how some of the upsets changed a lot of the DFS slates as well. Hear my thoughts about that and much more as we walk towards next week's UFC Fight Night in Shanghai, which Johnny Walker will be fighting the up and coming Zhang Mingyang. In the end, I talked about the upcoming Dr. Roto staff draft, which takes place tomorrow at the time off this recording. All right, Well, we going into last night once I
saw the King Green je fight drop with with Dere
with fi Era, and and then I saw three more
fights added one not another one taken away.

And then of course losing Rosie Boyev.

So Rosie Boyev and the King Green fight were huge
for me. Diego Fierira was a big part of my
DFS lineup, so I had to alter that, and then
I had to alter it, you know previously when you
know again when Rosie Boyev was out, Because once Rousie Boyev.

Was out, his price was perfect.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
I mean, they they had him so low. He was
probably gonna be around sixty to seventy percent owned on
you know the big slates, the GGPP slates and things
like that. So I was like, man, we're gonna do this,
you know, I'm I'm I'm taking my boy new Sultan
like you saw on the Fight Club Opinion. This is
what we were all about. And then everything changed right Friday.

So that's when I was like, you know what I'm done.
I'm not gonna play big. I'm not gonna play heavy,
not gonna play hard.

So I didn't.

I didn't do that, however, have although I will say
I did too.

Did pick DD I would have lost that one.

Having three favorites lose in having three favorites who were

Now that's the thing is is if you look at
that then and you take a step back, Now I'm
eleven and one again, but I'm not eleven in one.

Favorites that lost, and not only that, I invested two
of the guys.

Of course, as we'll get to it.

Two the guys were on about fifty sixty percent of
my DFS lineups. So it was just one of those
weeks where some upsets happened, and once those upsets happened,
it altered the DFS slate.

I'm happy I didn't go big.

I'm happy that I didn't invest a lot of money
into it. So that was a good part. Betting was
another kind of ride, though that was crazy. So let's
get to it, all right. So, of course, of the
ad fights for the UFC, I picked Morales in cesse
Chenko or whatever that person's name was. So I got
both those as win. I did pick cream Silva and

I picked Edison Barbosa. I lost that because Coss won. Now,
I really thought that Barbosa could have finished that fight
a few times, and that was probably the one fight
you could say that, you know, even though he was
the favorite, could have went both ways.

That was a pick him up. So I'm fine with that.
But then I get to.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
The Chase Hooper and Alexander Hernandez fight and I'm like,
all right, look the I So this was one of
my biggest bet fights.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
I had the most.

Practically of one of three or four fights, I had
the most money on this fight.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
So even though I was able to get.

That sub with Morales at plus sixteen hundred, yeah you
heard that, you heard that plus sixteen hundred.

I also I also was did not I paid up
for Chase Hooper on the fandual sites in DraftKings, and
I paid twenty one or twenty two and then of
course ninety three DraftKings, So it was it was a
big blow to lose that.

So then of course Loopy came through Luky Lupy Gordinas.
You know, we when me and.

Dan did a fast track of some of the fights
that we wanted to talk about real quick, we both
picked her as well too.

General Shark jered me, Shark, I think he's already dropped.
He's already dropped, so that's just wild. But McCall lose zeus.
We went heavy on that. So right about now, the
money that we lost for Hooper, that's where McCall actually
made that money back. So now we're sitting pretty again,
pretty enough to be like, oh man, kay Asakura should

get this fight easily.

Now there was a Tim Elliott call, so I want
to do I do want to say I did see
Angelo called that out. He said tim Elliott is gonna
be the dog, but pick him. On top of that,
when me and Dan did the run through. Dan got
to tim Elliott because he put him in his DFS lineup.

But He's like, tim Elliott's.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Gonna win, and I'm like, dude, a security is like bro,
even though they threw him to the Wolves and missus Dan,
he goes, They're still.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Gonna win and he goes second round submission. And it happened. Now.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
I will say, Assecurra was practically winning that fight that
was at the end, that kind of just a big
mishap happened. Where Assecura was controlling that fight at some points,
but he was so thrown off by tim Elliott.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Tim Elliott looked like a h He looked like he
was cracked out.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
He was spinning around doing wild stuff, jumping off the
cage sidekicking the cage before going in. He was just
jacked up and then slammed some more prime and I'm
sitting there like, this guy is just out of his
mind right now. So we're sitting here watching all this
wildness go down, and I'm like, wow, dude, are you serious.
So next thing you know, he just gets that he

gets that Lucky Pop turns it over point Assecura is
out of there. Now that's the loss. Now that's three
you know, that's three losses. That's that's fine going into
you know, the main card.

So I pay the MVP over canon here, but I did.

Use canon here in DFS and both DFS he was good.

He turned out well, I have protess.

You know that I'm a fighting Nerds lover and that
I love everything, and every time the fighting Nerds come
out and do protest, I had protests everywhere. That was
my guy, definitely. So then of course, you if you
watch the Fight Club of Pain, you know me and
Dan we're all about Laro Murphy.

You know, these have levels.

Pico looked insanely good the tape that I watched on Pico,
I'm like, Okay, this man's gonna be a problem. But
somebody like Laron Murphy can still break you down and
take you out no matter how good you are. And
and Murphy was kind of struggling. There was a few
times he was looking like he's not getting on the
bitter runs. But every time every time Pico rushed him,
(06:51):
it was like Murphy got some kind of punching or
a kicking or a kneat he didn't, and then he
just throws at elbo Boop, goes to sleep, and then
of course we get the we get Snoozefest for the
main event. We all knew if if if Hamza was
going to actually make this happen, then Hamza was going
to wrestle him and keep him on the ground the
whole time.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
And that's what happened. That's what happened. DDP had nothing
for it.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
The fact that DDP even sub didn't submit when he
was in that cross at the beginning.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
This like when he was like that at the beginning
of that fight.

The fact that he was held on getting punched and
punched and punched, nibble punched and nibble punched. The whole
fight was insane and DDP tried to really keep it up.
But the thing is is once he just got in
it because it's what happened, you know.

And both me and Dan did pick DDP.

And that doesn't mean that we didn't think that Hamza
couldn't win.

We were just like, okay, where do you go?

But I did see things come out that Hamsaz said
he would like to fight in October.

Whether that happens or not, that's that's a little soon.

In my opinion, So I don't think that's gonna happen,
but this division is definitely gonna shape up. Hamza problem
is most likely. I just feel like they're gonna stick
him with RDR real fast. But honestly, I think, like
Koyo Brallo, i'm amov, all those guys are gonna get
a shot. So I think that they can wait with
him right now. But it sucks because it's like, now

you gotta shift focuses and this is an exciting sighting
division and really Drunks takes no damage from this fight,
really just pride.

They couldn't really how strong he is and how quirky was.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
And this was a thing we brought up when we
said that there is opportunity to sub on the Jima
Bay side because Chime on his side, because he was
the way the DDP rolls and does those weird things
and you've seen it and once it was just the
way Humzat was able to control him with the leg
kicks and kicking his leg out underneath him to constantly

making it what was a boring fight but makes it
what you makes the UFC different. Look, if you can't
get up, then you can't get up and that's just
the end of it. And you lose to that guy,
and you may lose to those types of wrestlers.

You might get your heads busted in fighting somebody.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
That ground impounds you, that wrestles you, that convict that
you just get that. Sometimes you have somebody's number yourself,
and sometimes somebody has your number. And unfortunately hamzat and
it bought a lot of.

People knew he was gonna do it.

Look, DDP is still gonna be a great fighter going forward.
He's always gonna have that crazy style. He's gonna probably
lick his chin up, probably get in with somebody real
soon after this, hopefully. I mean, I'm not gonna see
at this point you could see I think Ddp's gonna
fight sooner, but you could see him waiting for another
Sean Strickland fight where kind of Sean comes back from suspension.

And then you get the DDP fight.

So that was kind of cool, you know, eight and
four overall, like I said, three and one for the
main card, Dan went two and two, No disrespect, We
got it.

We take some things, you know. Elliott. Elliott getting the.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Plus two thousand on that submission was amazing and that's
what really helped. So the Elliott and then.

That was that was a hedge. That was a hedge.

Because I had as a current everywhere, so you could
see kind of like as DFS was prompt starting to
get promising now because I stacked the main car because
it was the only thing I could trust. Now it
was like getting to where like the money was catching
up a little bit, but I was still up a
little bit, So going into the main card is that's
where it's ended up being.

So both on FanDuel I went too and two.

My best was like five fifty eight on fandueled and
I had like a four ninety eight and a four
forty one.

And I think the four forty one was right at
the line it.

Would it would have been, it would have been one
of those with fifty fifties out you kind of put
yourself in and go that.

And then all of course on DK I went three
and one. That wasn't too bad.

I had a really good I had really good lineups
on that one. Again it was a Tim Elliott lineup.
It was where I was able. That was where I
put Amza in and then I had Elliott. I saved
on that I decided to sway. That's what you do.
You sway with bet, you hedge, and at the same
time you sway with dfs. That's why some people that
make a you know, one hundred and fifty lineups sometimes

having advantage because they get all those factors, those parables,
whereas like somebody like me or you or anybody that
just puts in like three four lineups. Is that I'm
happy I kept it to a minimum. Unfortunately I did.
I really wanted to pull money from this this event,
and I did.

But the problem is I was only up twenty five bucks.
So I'm gonna be like, okay, I'm up across. Let's
just call it for what it was.

I had three favorite, well two favorites, one slight favorite lose,
and all my money was invested in.

So and but I was able to hedge and come back.
And that's where hedging comes in. If I would have won, yes,
I would have lost that hedge bet, but I would
have won a lot more money. I'd have probably won
like fifty sixty seventy eighty dollars more on top of
that for that. But that hedge allowed me to cover
all the hedge and that, and that's where some of
those big fights and that's what's going in. Well, that's

where Murphy getting that, Murphy getting the under with Murphy
and having those bets with him, and we have the
second round knockout with murphy't you know I always do.

First in the second round, So I was able to
pull that.

So even though within this confined and just not playing
a lot, we were able to hit a lot of bets.
So I gotta say, move on to next week. We
got UFC Fight Night in Shanghai. Of course this is
gonna be where we got Johnny Walker versus Zang ming Yang.

I'm just gonna you already know I'm picking Zang. That's
that's I'm picking Zang. Walker's gonna get his lights knocked out.

Now there was a Tim Elliott call, so I want

to tim Elliott because he put him in his DFS lineup.

But He's like, tim Elliott's.

Gonna win, and I'm like, dude, a security is like bro,
even though they threw him to the Wolves and missus Dan,
he goes, They're still.

Gonna win and he goes second round submission. And it happened. Now.

I will say, Assecurra was practically winning that fight that
was at the end, that kind of just a big
mishap happened. Where Assecura was controlling that fight at some points,
but he was so thrown off by tim Elliott.

Tim Elliott looked like a h He looked like he
was cracked out.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
He was spinning around doing wild stuff, jumping off the
cage sidekicking the cage before going in. He was just
jacked up and then slammed some more prime and I'm
sitting there like, this guy is just out of his
mind right now. So we're sitting here watching all this
wildness go down, and I'm like, wow, dude, are you serious.
So next thing you know, he just gets that he

gets that Lucky Pop turns it over point Assecura is
out of there. Now that's the loss. Now that's three
you know, that's three losses. That's that's fine going into
you know, the main card.

So I pay the MVP over canon here, but I did.

Use canon here in DFS and both DFS he was good.

He turned out well, I have protess.

You know that I'm a fighting Nerds lover and that
I love everything, and every time the fighting Nerds come
out and do protest, I had protests everywhere. That was
my guy, definitely. So then of course, you if you
watch the Fight Club of Pain, you know me and
Dan we're all about Laro Murphy.

You know, these have levels.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Pico looked insanely good the tape that I watched on Pico,
I'm like, Okay, this man's gonna be a problem. But
somebody like Laron Murphy can still break you down and
take you out no matter how good you are. And
and Murphy was kind of struggling. There was a few
times he was looking like he's not getting on the
bitter runs. But every time every time Pico rushed him,

it was like Murphy got some kind of punching or
a kicking or a kneat he didn't, and then he
just throws at elbo Boop, goes to sleep, and then
of course we get the we get Snoozefest for the
main event. We all knew if if if Hamza was
going to actually make this happen, then Hamza was going
to wrestle him and keep him on the ground the
whole time.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
And that's what happened. That's what happened. DDP had nothing
for it.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
The fact that DDP even sub didn't submit when he
was in that cross at the beginning.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
This like when he was like that at the beginning
of that fight.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
The fact that he was held on getting punched and
punched and punched, nibble punched and nibble punched. The whole
fight was insane and DDP tried to really keep it up.
But the thing is is once he just got in
it because it's what happened, you know.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
And both me and Dan did pick DDP.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
And that doesn't mean that we didn't think that Hamza
couldn't win.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
We were just like, okay, where do you go?
Speaker 3 (07:46):
But I did see things come out that Hamsaz said
he would like to fight in October.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Whether that happens or not, that's that's a little soon.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
In my opinion, So I don't think that's gonna happen,
but this division is definitely gonna shape up. Hamza problem
is most likely. I just feel like they're gonna stick
him with RDR real fast. But honestly, I think, like
Koyo Brallo, i'm amov, all those guys are gonna get
a shot. So I think that they can wait with
him right now. But it sucks because it's like, now

you gotta shift focuses and this is an exciting sighting
division and really Drunks takes no damage from this fight,
really just pride.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
They couldn't really how strong he is and how quirky was.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
And this was a thing we brought up when we
said that there is opportunity to sub on the Jima
Bay side because Chime on his side, because he was
the way the DDP rolls and does those weird things
and you've seen it and once it was just the
way Humzat was able to control him with the leg
kicks and kicking his leg out underneath him to constantly
(08:49):
making it what was a boring fight but makes it
what you makes the UFC different. Look, if you can't
get up, then you can't get up and that's just
the end of it. And you lose to that guy,
and you may lose to those types of wrestlers.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
You might get your heads busted in fighting somebody.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
That ground impounds you, that wrestles you, that convict that
you just get that. Sometimes you have somebody's number yourself,
and sometimes somebody has your number. And unfortunately hamzat and
it bought a lot of.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
People knew he was gonna do it.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Look, DDP is still gonna be a great fighter going forward.
He's always gonna have that crazy style. He's gonna probably
lick his chin up, probably get in with somebody real
soon after this, hopefully. I mean, I'm not gonna see
at this point you could see I think Ddp's gonna
fight sooner, but you could see him waiting for another
Sean Strickland fight where kind of Sean comes back from suspension.

And then you get the DDP fight.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
So that was kind of cool, you know, eight and
four overall, like I said, three and one for the
main card, Dan went two and two, No disrespect, We
got it.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
We take some things, you know. Elliott. Elliott getting the.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Plus two thousand on that submission was amazing and that's
what really helped. So the Elliott and then.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
That was that was a hedge. That was a hedge.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Because I had as a current everywhere, so you could
see kind of like as DFS was prompt starting to
get promising now because I stacked the main car because
it was the only thing I could trust. Now it
was like getting to where like the money was catching
up a little bit, but I was still up a
little bit, So going into the main card is that's
where it's ended up being.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
So both on FanDuel I went too and two.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
My best was like five fifty eight on fandueled and
I had like a four ninety eight and a four
forty one.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
And I think the four forty one was right at
the line it.

Would it would have been, it would have been one
of those with fifty fifties out you kind of put
yourself in and go that.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
And then all of course on DK I went three
and one. That wasn't too bad.

I had a really good I had really good lineups
on that one. Again it was a Tim Elliott lineup.
It was where I was able. That was where I
put Amza in and then I had Elliott. I saved
on that I decided to sway. That's what you do.
You sway with bet, you hedge, and at the same
time you sway with dfs. That's why some people that
make a you know, one hundred and fifty lineups sometimes
(11:03):
having advantage because they get all those factors, those parables,
whereas like somebody like me or you or anybody that
just puts in like three four lineups. Is that I'm
happy I kept it to a minimum. Unfortunately I did.
I really wanted to pull money from this this event,
and I did.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
But the problem is I was only up twenty five bucks.
So I'm gonna be like, okay, I'm up across. Let's
just call it for what it was.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
I had three favorite, well two favorites, one slight favorite lose,
and all my money was invested in.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Two of those fights.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
So and but I was able to hedge and come back.
And that's where hedging comes in. If I would have won, yes,
I would have lost that hedge bet, but I would
have won a lot more money. I'd have probably won
like fifty sixty seventy eighty dollars more on top of
that for that. But that hedge allowed me to cover
all the hedge and that, and that's where some of
those big fights and that's what's going in. Well, that's
(11:59):
where Murphy getting that, Murphy getting the under with Murphy
and having those bets with him, and we have the
second round knockout with murphy't you know I always do.

First in the second round, So I was able to
pull that.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
So even though within this confined and just not playing
a lot, we were able to hit a lot of bets.
So I gotta say, move on to next week. We
got UFC Fight Night in Shanghai. Of course this is
gonna be where we got Johnny Walker versus Zang ming Yang.

And we know Zang ying min Yang is in assassin.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
I'm just gonna you already know I'm picking Zang. That's
that's I'm picking Zang. Walker's gonna get his lights knocked out.
And but we'll talk about it. We'll talk about that

Practically the top three fights are the ones that we're
gonna end up covering for that. So look at that
