Build each other up and speak life.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Into each other along this journey. It's time to get started.
I am Christy Kemmel of b HOW, and I am
here with Champagne Good from True North Ministries and with
Tiffany Burquette, and we are thrilled that you are listening in.
We are going to be discussing worship and warfare. So

(01:10):
let's all claim a seat at the table today that
the Lord, who is the Bread of life has prepared
for us. According to Psalm twenty three, this podcast is
like a great smelling loaf of fresh baked bread and
we are breaking it open now and we are going
to pass it around so that everyone can rip off
a chunk, place it on their plate and enjoy. So

(01:32):
the question of the day, ladies, is what is your
definition of worship? So we're going to go to champ. Okay,
what you've got?

Speaker 3 (01:40):
All right? What is worship? Well, you said something to me,
Christy was really important in the message when you asked
me to do this podcast, and you mentioned a word
and you said worship is hard to to find, and
I totally agree with that, Like it is no one thing,
no one word. So I started to ask the Lord, like,
what does what is worship? What does it look like
to you?

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Lord?

Speaker 3 (01:59):
What is worship? And I looked up the English definition
because I love to dissect words, like I got to
know the depth of things. And is the feeling or
expression of reverence and adoration like the two coming together?
And I think of all the Bible characters throughout history,
like reverence is falling down on your face, like falling

(02:20):
before the Lord. It's honoring the Lord in a moment,
it's obeying the Lord, and it brings about a repentance.
But at the same time that needs to be rooted
in affection and adoration too, because I feel like a
lot of times we get caught up in worshiping from
obligation if we don't have the affection side of it. Yeah,

(02:41):
And I even think about Jesus when you met the
woman at the well and he said, a time is coming,
and it is even here now. It is here now
where worshippers will worship and spirit and truth. And the
Father is desiring such those to worship them spirit and truth.
And what does that look like? And I can only

(03:01):
think of the logos word and the ram a word
like the written foundational word that we read and we
know truth because we see it, we see it from
history like we know truth, and that is what brings
us into repentance in awe. And then there's a spiritual
side of it, the ram a word, the right and
now word. We get to experience that in a moment

(03:24):
in his presence, the rate now word. Yes, isn't that amazing?
Experience that? And it's so awesome to me. But the
Father is seeking those to worship him and both spirit
and truth. Amen, So what does it look like to
worship in both spirit and truth. It's obedience and love.

(03:45):
It's where obedience meets love, and that's the response to worship.
That's response to the Lord Yes, to give him her yes,
and to give him our heart.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
And we're going to be talking along the way about
people's yesses.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Yeah, that's good.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
And we're going to learn about people who just said
yes in the moment and then.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Proceeded to follow through.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Amen. So we were looking at Second Chronicles twenty and
talking about Jahosha fat Well. First of all, any other
definition of worship. Worship for me is it's a lifestyle.
And I know, like I've heard people say that before,
but like honestly, like what does it look like to
make Jesus Lord of my life? Yeah, Like that's worship

(04:27):
for me.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
And so just positioning my heart to Jesus daily all
like all through the day. Like it's not just singing
a song to him, it is including Him in.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Every aspect of my life.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Amen.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
So when I'm at work and I'm struggling, I say, Okay, Jesus,
I invite you into my life right now, like this
moment of my.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Life, honoring Him in a moment, Yes, and.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
Even if I'm not in a hard place or or
you know, it's Jesus, I am so glad you're here.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
I am so glad you're with me, and I just
praise you. I worship you.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
But it's not like like I have to do this,
because what's that word like obligation?

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yes, thank you.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Yeah, it's not an obligation. It's that I I want to.
When my husband walks in the room, I'm gushing over him.
I'm like, Yay, he's here. I'm I love that he's
with me, and even through a hard time, he's with
me to help me process through things. So it's like
that to me, is worshiping Jesus as Lord of my life.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Yeah, yeah, amen, Amen, thank you for that, Tiffany. My
definition of worship is to me, it's going all in
for the Kingdom of God with all of my heart,
my soul, and my mind and my strength and building
that one to one relationship with God. So talking with him,
trusting him, listening to the sound of his voice in direction,

(06:00):
and discerning the desires of his heart, and taking action
to give God his heart's desire. And we will be
talking about relationship too along the way. You know, worship
is also relationship. Yeah, and jehoshah Fat, we found out
in Second Chronicles twenty had a type of relationship with
God and he knew how to worship, and we're finding

(06:23):
out that that is in Second Chronicles twenty. That's what
saved them. God moved and he heard God's voice and
he deserned that God said this is you know, this
is my battle, not yours. And God told them what
to do. He told them where the enemy was. So
let's look at that. So starting with verse one, a

(06:43):
vast army from Edom was marching up on them from
beyond the Dead Sea, and it was really close, and
they didn't have much warning. I mean, the message came
and the enemy.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Was already upon them.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
And jehoshah Fat, it says he was terrified and he
was looking for guidance. And the first thing he did
he ordered a fast.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
And after he ordered the fast, it said that he
apparently had said that they well, I'll read it. Jehosaph
Fat was terrified. This is verse three. Jehoseph At was
terrified by this news and begged the Lord for guidance.
He also ordered everyone in Judah to begin fasting. Verse
four so people from all the towns of Judah came

(07:26):
to Jerusalem to seek the Lord's help. So what are
we seeing there. We're seeing them unite. We're seeing them unite,
they're fasting, they're united. And then jehoshah Fat stood before
the community of Judah and Jerusalem in front of the
new courtyard at the Temple of the Lord. And you
think about it, back in those days, where was the
presence of God. Yeah, it was in the Temple, and

(07:51):
very few people had access to God. You had to
be a holy priest chosen by God from a tribe
with the DNA. You had to go through the purity,
the purifying ritual to enter into the presence of God.
So jehoshah Fat was not that man. But standing in
the courtyard of the Temple, he got as close to
the presence of God that he could. And from there

(08:12):
he prayed. And it says specifically what he prayed. He said,
Oh Lord, God of our ancestors. And this is where
he acknowledges God. This is where it shows a relationship
that he wasn't just saying words. He knew it from
his heart. You alone are the God who is in Heaven.
You are the ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth.

(08:33):
You are powerful and mighty. No one can stand against you.
So right there we could see he acknowledged God. He
proclaims and stands on truth.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Yeah, Yeah, acknowledging God for exactly who God was. He
didn't throw himself down and say, woe is me, Lord,
help me? How can you help me?

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (08:53):
He went to God and said, this is who you are.
And that's a beautiful posture to be in. Yeah, said,
it's face to seek the Lord. This was the time that,
like you will read all through the Old Testament. Like again,
the people disobeyed the Lord, and jehost of fact comes in.
He starts religious reforms. So he sets the Levites back

(09:14):
into position where they should be. He had an understanding
what worship was. The people of the time turned worship
about themselves, and he's putting it back on God. Amen.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Yeah, amen.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
And then going on from let me see her verse seven. Yes,
Verse seven is where he kind of related to the Covenant. Oh,
our God, did you not drive out those who lived
in this land when your people Israel arrived? So he

(09:49):
acknowledged that God drove them out. Yeah, and did you
not give this land forever to the descendants of your
friend Abraham? And if you see that is one question,
but is to so power pact with the fact that
God was friends with Abraham. God established the covenant with Abraham,
and part of that was that his descendants would just

(10:10):
be as the sands or as the stars. They were
just going to be uncountable. You know, if that is
a word and numerous, and that it was forever? Did
you not give this land forever to the descendants of
your friend Abraham? Your people settled here and built this temple?
And why did they build the temple? This is verse
eight to honor your name. So he's going to God

(10:33):
and he's pointing all this out. He wasn't crying out
to God. He was saying, Hey, this is your part
of the covenant. Abraham stood before you and he did
the ritual, and this is what you gave us, and
this is what you drove out the enemies for. This
is what we fought for and it belongs to Uh.
It's a promise, absolutely, and he stood on that and
that is worship. Yeah, you gave us a promise and

(10:56):
that is truth. And we're standing on that and we're
not we're gonna claim it. Yes, yeah, we're not leaving
the spot. This is where we're gonna dwell on our
thoughts right now. We're focusing our thoughts right here. Yes,
and that's worship. And then he goes into verse Well,
verse ten talked a little bit, you would not let

(11:18):
our ancestors invade those nations. And now here they are.
You didn't destroy them. Here they are basically verse ten,
I paraphrase that. And then in verse eleven, now see
how they reward us, for they have come to throw
us out of your land, which you gave us as
an inheritance. So now they're referring to Hey, this is
our inheritance. And the enemy has surrounded us. We didn't

(11:40):
see them comming, and they're about to throw us out
of our land. And then twelve, Oh, our God, our God.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Won't you stop them?

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Because we are powerless against this mighty army that is
about to attack us. We do not know what to do,
but we are looking to.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
You for there it is.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
Our eyes are on you. My version says, our eyes
are on you. Could you imagine, could you imagine like
a multitude, a great multitude of enemy nations is coming
and they're outnumbered in every way. And doesn't that feel
so real sometimes?

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Oh recently in the past few years in America, Oh yeah,
how many times have we been hit by an enemy?

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (12:27):
And how many times have believers in Christians united yes
and stood before.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
God and said, it's all about you Lord. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
And the power and the unity of coming together?

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Men, And speaking of unity verse thirteen. And I love
this about the men of Judah, you know, I just
want to pat them on the back like it's I'm
respectful of this as all the men of Judah stood
before the Lord, which is how a man of God
showed Amen.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
And then it proceeds to say with their little ones,
wives and children. Yes. So these true men of God
didn't just say, hey, take care of the kids in
the house, I'll be back. I'm going to Jerusalem or Judah.
They brought their family along. Okay, So we're all going
to Jerusalem together. We are all going to fast together,

(13:23):
and we are all going to stand before the temple
and the courty are together, and we are going to
worship God together. Right, Kudos to the men of God.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Right there, right, It's beautiful, is beautiful, Yes, And that
is strength. Yeah, that's not weakness in any way. If
you think about like, the enemy does not fight fair.
He might not be coming directly for you, but he
will go after your children, your family.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Amen.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
So to come in the power of being united. That
was strategy in warfare.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
And then what happened when they united there? The spirit
of the Lord came upon one of the men standing there.
His name was Jehaziel, son of Zachariah. And then it
goes on with his lineage.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
He was a leevite.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Yeah, And in verse fifteen he says, listen, all you
people of Judah and Jerusalem, listen, King Jehoshah Fat, this
is what the Lord says. So he's prophesying. The Lord
came through him and spoke out of his mouth. Do
not be afraid. Don't be discouraged by this mighty army,
for the battle is not yours but God's. And I

(14:39):
just wonder how big the cheer was that when I
got that.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
You don't have to fight in your own strength.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
And prophecy will tell us about tomorrow. But not always.
Sometimes God just says, like with Abraham, hey, get up
and go yeah, and you just have to say yes,
and go right. But the Lord here says, tomorrow, march
out against them, and then he gives up the enemy's strategy.
You will find them coming up through the ascent of
Zizz at the end of the valley that opens into

(15:08):
the wilderness of Jiuel. He's like, so here, that's where
they are just letting you know, but you will not
even need to fight. Take your positions. This, this is it.
This is it worship and warfare.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
So positions that we take, yep.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Anybody want to mind size, stand firm, hold your position
and see your salvation.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Hold your position, hold.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Your position, hold the line. Think of how often it
is so easy to move out of position.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Mm hm.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
And he's just saying, in this moment, be still in no,
yes that I am God, be still in null.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
This comes down to a matter of trust. Will you
trust me completely?

Speaker 2 (15:54):
I was just thinking obedient.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
Yes, yeah, yeah, hold the line, stay and obey.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
M And we see that all through the word. And
we're going to talk about some of this stuff along
the way in these podcasts. You know Mary, all the
things that she stood up against and just said yes,
let it be to me as you've said. Yeah, and
we'll talk about that in depth another time, but it's
all the way through, and in my version it says,

(16:25):
stand still and watch the Lord's victory.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
So God was God was Father there, Father God, he
was Yahweh God, he was the God of God's right there.
All in one.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
It's like, okay, you're my children. What would I could do?
Just watch this? Yeah, I'm going to be victorious right
in front of you.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
My glory is.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
All over this. Just stand still watch. That was their job.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
Yeah. Sometimes waiting and watching is protection.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Amen.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
He didn't say step out, put yourself in the line
of fire. He just said stay here, yes, watch my handwork.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
And then he said, of people of Judah and Jerusalem,
do not be afraid or discouraged to go out against
them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you. And here's
another posture, another position, verse eighteen in the second Chronicles twenty.
Then King Jehosha Fat bowed low with his face to
the ground. That was their king, in front of everybody.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
I always say it matters who leads.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Yeah, because you're.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Going to read this in the next line. When he
bowed down, what did the rest of Judah do? And
all the people of Judah and Jerusalem did the same. Yeah,
worshiping the Lord. Wow, yes, so important. And then we
see another change of posture in verse nineteen. Then the
Leevites from the clans of Kohath and Kora stood to

(17:55):
praise the Lord.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
So now they stand. Yeah, the Leevites stay up the
God of Israel with a very loud shout, very loud,
very loud.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
Isn't that amazing? Like when the posture of worship was
his face to the ground. Like warship gets low, it
bows down, praise gets high, it gets loud. It's like
the victory shout. Amen, they knew, they knew they were
going into battle.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
It was the battle cry.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
Something that always made me wonder is how sound multiplies,
Like it like multiplies, It gets bigger and even bigger
and even bigger. And it's like a crowd sounds like
a humongous roar. Yes, but a voice alone can't get
any louder than it can.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
So it's always made me wonder, like how does that
even happen? How does one sound only go so far?
But a humongous amphitheater sound is like louder than.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
I don't know. That was just the thought that I'm like.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
That makes me think of the power of unity.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
Though.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
If coming together like a great multitude, yes, a great multitude, like,
what will that sound like? It'll be unlike anything we've
ever heard. You're right, you're right. That's why we need
the unity and we need to come together because the
sound just gets bigger and bigger and bigger as we
come together. And we don't see other realms, so we

(19:34):
don't know how much of Heaven.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Shouts with us. Oh wow, So it's magnified on top
of that because we do have that great cloud of witnesses.
So if you think about that, when you're on Heaven's
side and Heaven is on your side. Wow, there's no
stopping God.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
There's just no stopping God. Okay.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
So early in the morning, the army of Judah marched
out into the wilderness. I'm gonna paraphrase that a little bit,
and then it said that on the way, Jehoshah Fat
stopped and said, listen to me, all the people of
Judah and Jerusalem, believe in the Lord your God, and
you will be able to stand firm. Believe in his prophets,

(20:21):
and you will succeed. So now we're talking about belief.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Oh, the power of belief.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
So their second assignment. So they're standing, they're believing. And
then after consulting the people verse twenty one, the king
appointed singers to walk ahead of the army. So here
comes the worship excited.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
They're rallying. Praise God for our worship.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Teens, yeah, singing to the Lord and praising him for
his holy splendor. And then it records word for word,
this is what they sang, give thanks to the Lord
is faithful love indoors forever. At the very moment they
began to sing and give praise. At that very moment,

(21:12):
the Lord caused the armies of Ammen, Moab, and Mount
Seir to start fighting amongst themselves. So now the enemy
is fighting amongst itself. The armies of Moab and Ammon
turned against their allies from Mount Sier. They turn on
their allies, yes, and killed every one of them. After
they had destroyed the army of Syr, they attacked each other,

(21:36):
so that in verse twenty four, when the army of
Judah arrived at the lookout point in the wilderness, all
they saw were dead bodies lying on the ground as
far as they could see not a single one, not
a single one of the enemy had escaped. And then
it took them, I believe, three days to clean up

(21:57):
the plunder. And then i'm a skipped here to verse
twenty seven. Then all the men returned to Jerusalem when
Jehoshah with jehoshah Fat leading them, that's a great king,
great king, overjoyed that the Lord had given them victory
over their enemies.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
They were overjoyed.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
They marched into Jerusalem to once again the music of harps,
liars and trumpets, and they proceeded where they proceeded to
the Temple of the Lord. So they started the battle
at the temple, and they finished the victory of the
battle at the temple.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Just as close to the actual presence of God on
this earth as they could possibly be. And then I
love verse twenty nine because it's residual. So when all
the surrounding kingdoms heard that the Lord himself had fought
against the enemies of Israel, the fear of God came
over them. And verse thirty, jehoshah Fat's kingdom was at peace,

(22:57):
for his God had given him rest on every side.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
Yes, no, I want to shout yeah, but I will.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
How about that. This is a beautiful picture of like
we got to see there, like I envisioned so much,
so like I put myself there, Like what is it
to be on the watch tower and see all that territory,
like all those men just wiped out gone. This was
the first picture where we get to see that praise
goes first, amend what I means. Praise, Absolutely, praise goes first.

(23:32):
The singers, they went first.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
And again the focus of their song was on God. Yes,
his love endors forever, Yes, his love.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
I think about how it says, is it in the
Psalms about he's enthroned upon the praises of his people?
Like he literally comes and sits upon the praise of
his people. And they had an understanding of that, because
he came to that battle to sit and to roll
and to rain and to bring about the victory. Yes,
that's what praise does.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
Yes, I mean God was showing off.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
Yeah, I love it when he does. Look what I
could do.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
Yeah, So praise can be a form of prayer also,
and our prayers are incense.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Yeah before him.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
And then to think when they did that in that moment,
the Lord sads an ambush like praise confuses the enemy. Yes,
it sets confusion the enemies camp and they start attacking
one another.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (24:37):
I think that really points to where what we're focused
on matters, you know, because if you think about when
the Israelites went to look at the Promised Land and
the focus was the enemies, then they thought we can't
conquer that. But when the focus was on the milk

(25:00):
and honey, it was like, that's truth. When we focus
on truth, then we you know, we stand in agreement
with truth. Right, when we focus on the enemy, we
stand in agreement with the enemy. Even if we're like
in fear, we're still agreeing with the enemy.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Yeah, right, you're right.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
And that's his tactic, the enemy, to intimidate, to get
you into fear. Like Eliath SAIDs stand tall, that's stand big.
Let's get you to retreat. But when we look at God,
he's so much bigger than that. He's bigger than any giant,
any amount of fear, way bigger.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
Right, It's magnifying him. Yes, over everything. What you magnify
will manifest and that comes from that relationship of worship
with him. I know you can do this right.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Right, and having a history with him watching his hand.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
Work, right, And I'm thinking too, like when we focus
on ourselves is not the same. You know, we'll go
to Him in hurt and pain and in too. And
they there was a little spot where they went to
God with that, and it's okay to talk to God
about that, like, Okay, here's the enemy. They're surrounding us,

(26:10):
and look at the reward. They're about to take our
inheritance God. Yeah, but they were also acknowledging the fact
that it was an inheritance and that it was not
okay for them to take it. Yeah, So they did
step into the physical. I can see this with my eyes.
Here's what I see with my eyes.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Lord.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
But then the shift of the focus back on God.
But here's who you are, yes, And that was part
of that worship. Yeah, And that was part of that warfare.
And God responded and he responded quickly. He did like
he acted in the moment.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
That's might.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
And I think about like they weren't just concerned about themselves.
Those men, like you said, you pointed out those men,
they stood there and had their families with them. They
had the understanding of what I do now, what I
do in this moment, my reverence, my honor and packs generations.
It impacts my family, and it impacts my children, and
we even get to see here that it was bigger
than that because it impacted surrounding kingdom, surrounding nations.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
That's good.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
Yeah, that's like a crazy amount of confidence and.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
Who your God is?

Speaker 1 (27:18):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Yeah? And how do we how do we grow in
that confidence?

Speaker 1 (27:24):
You know?

Speaker 2 (27:26):
Worshiping and like how faithful God is.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
He's always faithful, right, and standing in his faithfulness and
us being faithful is it's almost a chore because you know,
within our disobedient nature, we're standing looking at all of
these you know, enemies coming at us, and God is speaking,

(27:57):
stand firm, praise me. Yeah, And all we can think is,
but you don't understand these guys are coming after us,
you know. But growing in faithfulness to me means I
know that I am scared, but I choose to follow

(28:17):
your direction and to stand firm in what you're speaking
truth over me and watch him work right, right, you know?
And I think a lot of times we do watch
him work, but even to completion we're like, Okay, that
was good God, but I'm still scared. Okay, that was
good God, but I'm still scared. You know, we kind

(28:38):
of like turn ourselves away from it, and it takes
active self control to say.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
Okay, yes, that's a fruit of the spirit too.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Yes, absolutely absolutely.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
You asked a question though, you said, how can we
grow in confidence? And like I ask people who are
watching this podcast too, like, how do we grow in
that confidence? Because I could only think of David in
this situation, like confidence to come up against the giant
when you're untrained, unqualified, you grew up in a field,
you have no war experience. These were men of war

(29:17):
standing back, intimidated and afraid of a champion giant. And
David comes on the scene. Where did he get his confidence?

Speaker 1 (29:26):
Well, those guys that were fighting Goliath had Saul's armor on. Yeah,
I'm sure their armor looked much like his, and it
was kingdom armor from Saul's kingdom. When David was in
the wilderness, he perfected skills that he didn't realize he
was going to use later. And when God puts us
in a wilderness or or we enter into a battle,

(29:48):
it builds skills in us that are used later on
for other things. It's not I mean, we use it
in the battle that we're in, but it's perfected for
the next level battle. It skills. He knew his sling
shot is I had now probably could load it, unload it,
fixed it right dark right. And then when it came
to the line and the bear, he defended the sheep,

(30:08):
which is what another thing that Jesus commanded us to do.
If you love me, yep, they were his father's sheep.
They were his sheep, yes, and he was all about that. Yeah,
I'm I've had these sheep entrusted to my care and
i will lay my life on the line for these sheep,
which is it's a shadow of Jesus and what Jesus
commanded us.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Right there, right there. It is like you just said it,
like confidence, Like how do we grow in that? It
comes down to connection, Yes, connection with the Lord. And
David's confidence came with his connection with the Lord.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
Relationship.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
Yeah, it's all about relationship.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
So I had talked to you earlier. I wanted to
discuss trials and I'm just gonna look it up. I'm
trying to find the verse.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Okay, trials.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
James one two through three counted all joy when you
fall into various trials knowing that the testing of your
faith produces h huh, produces something patient, keep going.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
I'll have to look it up.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
It's layered in there, patience.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
I'm going to look it up in my actual body.

Speaker 1 (31:16):
I believe his patience produces endurance, and endurance produces Oh yeah,
it's close.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
You might be right with that, But I love how
one leads to the next leads to another. Like as
we're walking out our faith with the Lord, as we're
walking out relationship. Sometimes it's one step at a time. Yes,
you'll get the patience, and it's like, all right, I
feel your patience today, Lord, but it's going to produce
the next step.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
And if he would have taken that victim mentality, well,
my dad kicked me out here because I'm the baby
of the family and my big brothers get to go
to war. And he ran from the lion, and he
ran from the bear. I don't care about the sheep.
I'm saving my life. Then when he faced the giant,
would his heart have said, how dare he defy my God? Right,
I don't want your armor. I don't use his sword.

(32:04):
I use a sling shot, and that's how I kill stuff.
And I hit spot on and later on he had
trained his men to use a sling shot in that
manner to be accurate like that. He had those skills
from that. So did you find it, Tiffany, Yeah, okay,
this is new King James version. Count it all joy.

(32:27):
When you fall into various trials. I think it's interesting
and says.

Speaker 4 (32:31):
When you fall, not when maybe other versions say when
God gives you. I'm not sure. But when I stumble
and fall into a trial, knowing that the testing of
your faith produces patients. So right there, when I stumble
into a trial, my patience in being obedient within that,

(32:57):
choosing to turn to God. The testing of your faith
produces patients. But let patients have its perfect work, that
you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any
of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives
all liberally without reproach, and it will be given to him.

(33:17):
But let him ask in faith with no doubting.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
For he who doubts. It's like a wave of the seed,
driven and tossed by the wind.

Speaker 4 (33:23):
So I think of as an infant or a toddler
learning how to walk, Like my trial at that moment
is falling down, stumbling and falling down. But my faith
is that I see this is a truth that I
can stand up and walk. So I'm going to stand
up and walk now. As I get older and go

(33:45):
through life, those trials aren't as clear and evidence. But
every day, the various trials that come at me, it's
almost like stewarding those trials to sharpen my faith.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
We get to exercise our faith.

Speaker 4 (34:06):
Yes, yeah, and faith is like a muscle, right, You're right, absolutely,
So when I'm exercising my faith, then whenever these this
massive army is coming at me, it's almost or like
you were saying about David sharpening his slingshot skills when
he gets up to Gollith. It's like, the truth is

(34:28):
I know how to use a slingshot. The truth is
I have faith in God to bring forth his promises.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
Right, right, Yeah, that's beautiful.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
And no matter what the enemy says, no matter what
Goliath said in that moment, I mean he laughed at David,
he mocked him, he mocked God, and David was just
he knew truth. He stood on that right, he stood
on that relationship with the Lord in that moment.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
Right. And I want to point out too that you
know his older brothers were not nice to him about
being the shepherd of the family and being the youngest,
and I wonder, I don't know if he was a
little bit spoiled. Some people say he was rejected by
his father. We don't know, but whatever the reason. So
just before he fought the giant, his big brother steps up.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
Why have you come down?

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Yeah, like picking a fight with him, And he had
to choose his battle right there, which one Do I
defend God or do I offend myself? And he chose God.
So I always like to make that point. And I
was thinking about two points stuff when you were talking.
When you're watching your babies learn how to crawl and walk,

(35:40):
you don't necessarily get down and help them all the time.
You might give them a cure, little help here and there,
but you don't get down and crawl with him every
single time.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
It'll make their.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Legs go where they're supposed to go, and you stand
back as a parent. And so I just felt led
to kind of point that out, Like there are some
people who come to God and think I have to
fix myself up.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
I have to approach him in a certain way.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
No, you're gonna fall on your face, you're gonna let
go of the coffee table and fall over and bump
your head. The Lord knows you, he created you, he
knows your journey, and it's okay to come to God
and say, I am trying to crawl, but I can't
get that other knee over. And sometimes he'll nudge you,
and sometimes he'll watch you and say, to make you stronger.

(36:23):
I'm just gonna let you figure this one out on
your own.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
But I'm here.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
I'm here, and when it comes time, I will help you.
But let's let you get stronger in that first. And
then we were talking about faith being a muscle. When
you go to work out, it's not fine. You come
out of it sore, You come out of it dirty
and smelly, and you have to sweaty, and you have

(36:47):
to congratulate yourself and say I did it today and
I'll do it again tomorrow, regardless of how it makes
me feel. So yes, disciplines, that's a big deal.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
But you come out strong.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
And then when you go to lift your groceries, you're
not putting your back out for six weeks, right, yeah,
or losing a knee in the process. But it's you know,
people look at somebody who's fit and go, wow, great job.
But they don't realize that they've been up since four o'clock. Yeah,
that they were there for two hours and they're sore.
There was a perseverance that came.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
I'm tired.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
So very good.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Any other comments on that.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
I think I just want to like touch on what,
you know, what that brought about. When they praised and
God brought about the victory, they entered into what rest
they had, rest in peace in their kingdom on every side,
on every side. Yeah, and the surrounding territories, Kingdom's nations
saw that.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Oh, they saw that.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
So when we walk in peace and we walk in
the rest of the Lord, people are watching there and
they're like, they're questioning, what is that? What brings that about?
What is different about you?

Speaker 1 (38:06):
Yeah, when it feels like all of the United States
is falling apart, the United States of America, the United
States of America, we have so shortened that. You're so right,
and I've been trying to make a point of pronouncing
the whole thing.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
Yeah, I just had like relation the United States.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
It looks like it's falling apart, and we don't recognize
it anymore. We just need to remember we have Yahweh God.
And when we stand united in prayer, like we really
united in prayer the believers across this nation and around
the world, for the United States of America during the
election time even and all these things, these events are happening,
and Yahweh made a window and.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
He said enough.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
He's very real and he acts, and he is God
and he knows what to do. And so when we
stand still and just turn our attention to him and say,
I am trusting you as God. I don't need to
tell you even my problems in this area or any
fears or discouragement. I know that your God, and that
you are sovereign, and that you know how to handle this.

(39:08):
You know how to turn the tide. He's just waiting
for us to magnify him here.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
Yes, I think of that. That goes back to what
Tiffany said earlier about sound like the more together, the
louder it gets. So as we unite and we proclaim
Jesus and his name, there's so much power in that name.
There's so much power in that name, and it just
gets louder and louder. And if you think of what
like prayer is. We have to realize this, like let

(39:35):
this be revelation, like catch this by the spirit today.
If anything, prayer is substance. It's not just words that
fly into the air and go nowhere. It's not just vapors.
You know, they talk about incense, Like prayer going up
is incense in the Bible. It's not just a vapor
that goes into the air and disappears. It's substance. In heaven. Amen,

(39:57):
our prayers arise, they go to heaven and they're putting
golden bulls. Literally, the Lord is capturing our prayers and
putting them in these beautiful golden bulls. And I hope
when we get to heaven we just have all these
balls all around us of the prayers of the saints.
You know, they are substance, right, Prayer does something, it does.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
It does.

Speaker 1 (40:23):
All right, Champ, Do you want to say a prayer
for those who are listening in sure?

Speaker 3 (40:28):
Absolutely, Heavenly Father, we just set our eyes on you.
We look to you and our battles and our circumstances.
And if we learned anything here today, Lord, it's that
we can't go in our own strengths. We go in
your strength. So no matter what we're going through, whether

(40:49):
it's fear, anxiety, chaos and her minds, we just look
to you right now. We look to you right now,
and we say that the battle is yours. You go
before us, you come behind us, you're all around us.
You fight our battles. Lord, we just have to be

(41:11):
still and we just have to wait, and we just
have to look to you, and the victory will be yours, Jesus,
The victory is yours. And Lord, we just pray for
unity in the body. We just talked about our prayers
or substance, So we pray for unity to come in

(41:31):
Jesus' name, that our towns will stand together, our churches
will stand together, your people will stand together, nations will
stand together to declare your name, Jesus, and there will
be peace all around. When we proclaim who you are
and what you're doing, Jesus, we come into agreement with heaven,

(41:54):
and we just declare that there will be peace all around.
There will be rest all around for your people. So Lord,
right now we release control. We put our hands up
to you, and we say the battle is yours. We
don't go on our own strength. We go in your strength.
We go in your mighty name, Jesus, So Lord, we

(42:16):
praise you, we thank you, we honor you in this
moment today and every day in Jesus Name, we pray. Amen.
