Speaker 1 (00:01):
Good evening everybody. As most of you know, I am
your host, Lori, but I got some bad news for
you all tonight. We're not going to have a podcast.
It's been canceled. I do apologize. Rebecca Shaper was supposed
to be on with me tonight, but she's not able
to join me because she had a very happy occasion

(00:22):
happened and she has a new member in her family,
so she couldn't be with us because of that, which
I am the first to congratulate her on the new
member and her family, so I'm very happy for them.
So hopefully I'll be able to get her rescheduled sometime

(00:44):
in the future. It probably won't be for a few
months because I'm pretty much booked up the rest of
the year. So that's a good thing though, because we've
got some pretty good podcasts coming up that are lined
up for everybody to listen to, and hopefully you'll all
be able to come back and listen to them. So
let me go ahead and at least tell you what

(01:05):
the next ones are going to be about. So on
September eighteenth, the podcast is Under the Desert Moon. I'm sorry.
Under the Desert Moon. Coyote journeys, and I'm going to
have Sarah Killingsworth on with me, and she's from Project Coyote,
and we're going to be discussing all sorts of stuff

(01:28):
about coyotes and hopefully dispelling some of the myths about
them and hopefully giving you guys, especially those of you
that live in the desert with a lot of coyotes,
a few tips and things of how you can actually
live with the coyotes a little bit better and not
have to worry about your pets and you know, having

(01:51):
a whole lot of coyotes around and stuff like that.
So hopefully Sarah I'll be able to give us a
lot more information on coyotes. I'm looking forward to that.
And then the next one after that it'll be October second,
and that podcast is The Animal Connection Finding Calm Together,

(02:11):
And I'm going to have Liz Clifton on with me,
and Liz is going to come on and talk with
us about some of the different things she does, like
she does reiki, reiki with animals, all sorts of.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
She's calm intuitive mentor is actually what her title more
or less is that just means Liz does a lot
of really cool things, kind of an intuitive and like
I said, she does the reiki, she does some calming things.

(02:53):
She works with rescue animals, supports their rehabilitations, helps people
and animals actually get some experiences in finding calm. I
guess you might say she has some different practices and
experience and stuff like that that she's going to share

(03:16):
with us, and hopefully maybe she'll be able to teach
some of us a little bit more about being calm
and maybe working with some meditation and stuff like that
along with our animals, because you know, animals get stressed
out just like we do. So that's going to be
I think a really good conversation to learn how to

(03:40):
come I can use some calm right now, especially just
because a lot of things going on in my life
and dealing with them, and boy do I need some
calming and some meditation, I think. So. I think it's
going to be great to be talking with Liz on
the second. So hopefully you guys will be able to
come back and listen in and learn more about coyotes
on September eighteenth, and then learn about some calming techniques,

(04:04):
meditation and reiki and how Liz helps animals and people
both and that'll be on October second, so don't forget
to come on back and tune in to listen to
those again. I apologize about Rebecca not being able to
be on tonight again though, I mean that's awesome that
they haven't. She has a new addition to her family,

(04:25):
so that's perfectly understandable why she wouldn't be able to
be on. So congratulations again Rebecca to you and your family,
and enjoy the new one. And guys out there listening,
come on back and a couple of weeks and listen
to the podcast Under the Desert Moon or Under the
Desert Moon about the coyotes. I think it's going to

(04:47):
be great to learn more about that. And again, if
you guys have any ideas, any suggestions, anything at all
that you would like to impart to me, I would
appreciate it. I would love any kind of feedback that
you guys would be willing to give me. Again, I
do have my email which is calling All Creatures nineteen

(05:15):
at gmail dot com, and calling all Creatures nineteen is
all lowercase and it's all together, no spaces or anything
like that. You can also find me pulling it up
right now. Hopefully here on Facebook. I do have my
Facebook page and I also have Instagram, although I'll be

(05:39):
honest with you guys, I don't post a lot on Instagram.
I only post my podcast announcements and stuff like that
on there.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
So.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
I don't post a lot on there unfortunately. But Facebook
is my main one that I use. So if you're
on Facebook and you do a search for Calling All Creatures,
you can find me through that, or I can give
you tell you what the little thing would be here

(06:12):
as soon as I can possibly get it up. I
guess my computer's running very very slowly tonight, so maybe
it's not going to come up here. There we go.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Okay, so, oh, I forgot Spreaker. I am on spreaker
dot com. That's where you can find my show. Just
look call it.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Look for Calling All Creatures nineteen or just calling Our
Creatures and it should come.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Up with that. So those I thought it would come
up with the link here, but it's not giving me
my link to well, I can't. Oh, there we go
with invite people.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
No, okay, anyway, I'm sorry, guys, go ahead and just
go on Facebook if you're on there and you can
search calling off creatures. It's real easy and it will
bring up my page and you can like and follow
it if you'd like. And then I put all my
announcements on here for all my upcoming podcasts, things like that,
some different things about my previous guests, things like that.

(07:31):
As a matter of fact, when I had Sheryl King
on from Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, she had was kind
enough to send me some photographs of some of the
tigers and lions and stuff like that that they have there,
and so I did post some in the Bear and
Bam Bam the Bear. So I did post those pictures

(07:52):
so that you guys could see them. So I do
post different things on my Facebook page, but that's what
I'm mainly on. But again I do have Instagram too,
but it's just literally all I do is post on
there when I'm gonna do my podcast. So and then
my podcast is on spreaker dot com or you can
find it on any of the podcast hosting platforms like Pandora, Apple, iTunes,

(08:17):
any of those. You can you know, find me on
there as well. Spotify and listen to YouTube. I'm on
YouTube Music, so you can listen to any of the
podcasts on there as well. They're being published there too,
So anyway, guys, that's pretty much it. I just wanted
to come on and let you all know that. Unfortunately
we did have to cancel. But again, congratulations to Rebecca

(08:38):
and if you guys happen to know her or follow
her or anything like that, tell her congrats. And with
that being said, you guys stay safe out there, don't
get into any trouble. And again, any feedback would be appreciated.
You can shoot me in the email. You can go
to my Facebook page. I'm not sure you might be.
I think you can even comment on my on my

(09:00):
breaker page and on my YouTube, so you can leave
different things anywhere for me and I will get them
and I would appreciate it. So all right, guys, have
a great weekend, and uh, we'll be back in a
couple of weeks. Bye now

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
