Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to the NED Party.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
I'm Darren Moser, I'm Philip Guilphus, I'm Daniel Prue, and.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
This is City Alpha three. Hello, and welcome to City
Off of three, a Star Trek podcast here on the
Nerd Party Network. I'm Darren Moser and I'm joined as
always by Fleet Commander Philip Gilphis and still Ensign Daniel Prue. Hey,
(00:40):
if when you wear the costume, then we'll talk.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Okay, all right, I see at Daniel.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Philip always shows us up wearing like amazing costumes and
like sits in his replica captain's chair. It's okay, It's okay.
I at least have a Star Trek T shirt but
I just by chance put that on. But yes, but
we're back. We're going to talk about Star Trek. But
before that, as we usually do, we'll check in on
(01:09):
our rewatches. How is Prodigy coming along for you? Philip? Again,
no spoilers.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, I'm trying to remember where I am. Episode eight. Okay,
I just finished, because yeah, it's a there is no
they flipped it. What is it? There's no in beauty,
there is no truth because they flipped it from in truth,
there is no beauty which is the two US episode
where they introduced Medusa, and so i'll give you a
hint on whose character gets focused on that. But yet no,
(01:40):
still enjoying it. You know, I always feel guilty, like Coup,
I haven't watched a lot, but in some cases, I mean,
I don't want it to be over, so I'm glad
I'm sort of going slowly. I mean it's sort of
have what done like three three and then two episodes?
So yeah, they don't seem short, and I mean this
almost sounds like a complaint, but it's not, because you
know what twenty minutes or something they seen like chock
(02:04):
full of stories. So it's it's right.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Again the animated I'm always amazed by animated shows like
how well they can do. Maybe it's the nature of
like controlling exactly how long things are, but they pack
a lot, yeah, into like a twenty two minute time frame,
Like you couldn't pack all of that. You'd be zipping
around so fast on a on a live action show
(02:29):
that that short. But what about you, Daniel, movie rewatch
are we starting that? I actually I will say I
played a movie trivia game with my wife and I
had to either give a line, give a quote or
(02:50):
or acted out, and one of the cards said just
Star Trek, and I actually, there is no movie called
Star Trek. It's Star Trek the motion picture. Why did
they just call it Star Trek After the fact, I remembered,
Oh yeah, two thousand and nine was a thing. Uh yeah, okay,
I feel I feel dumb now, but yes, well you
know that's a great segue because, uh, someone posted in
(03:13):
one of the chats the other day where the the
composer from two thousand and nine had posted like this
cutesy little remixes of some of his songs that he
has done previously, and he had done I guess he
was calling him the exotic mixes.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Anyways, you know, a bunch of like sounded on like
Hawaiian or something like that, tropical. I guess I should say. Okay,
And he posted one of Enterprising young Men, the main
theme from Oh That's the Man. It's such a good theme, dude,
And then I just listening to it and I'm like,
maybe it's time for rewatch. So maybe upcoming we re
re re re review two thousand and nine Star Trek.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Just that one we don't have to watch, just watch
you know that after and Beyond, and yeah, we'll watch Beyond.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Because But anyways, because it's been quite quite a long time,
for quite a few years now since I've seen two
thousand and nine, I love that movie so much, and
so I think I think I might have a rewatch
for that on the on the Horizon for sure.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yeah, not to get into it, but I think two
thousand and nine I still will be like, oh that scene. Oh,
like I'll have a comment for everything beyond it. I
think I need to watch it again because I'm not
seeing like, oh, Beyond the greatest thing. But like I
don't remember watching it, being sitting there going the whole time,
like I have a comment about everything that's happening. I
just remember like, oh it's you know.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Enjoying on was really decent, Like I enjoyed it well,
you know anything after the dumpster fire that was start
trekking talking all right. But today we were actually just
browsing around on the Internet and I came across it's uh,
(04:52):
it's like it's like babcom you know, no, wait, that's
two chis but no, but we came across, say, a
large star trek auction that's going on in the Pacific
Northwest right now, and it just it was a lot, guys,
there was a lot of Star Trek stuff. But it
did make me think about, you know, my own collection
(05:15):
of things. And you know, Philip, I can always see
what's on your shelf in the background and posters, but
I thought it'd be fun to just share about, you know,
not to you know, brag and say like, oh I
have this and this, but more like, why did you
choose that? You know, there's so much Star Trek stuff.
There's there's even just there's way more Tos stuff, you
(05:37):
know than anything else. There's you know, everything and everything.
But you know, why did you pick the kind of things?
You know? Were they more keepsakes? Were you a every
Hallmark ornament every year? Was the the buy? Or did
your you know, toys start like mine did with playmates
(06:00):
that you never kept in your in their packaging because
they were meant to be played with and go on
fantastic adventures, sometimes mixed with Star Wars characters and or
g I Joe. So yeah, so I'll start I often
enjoy you know, having well it's the only place I
could find to put it. Philip knows this pain my
(06:23):
my playmate's bridge playset is like bolted to the wall
because the sucker is huge. It's like, oh, probably two
feet wide long andeen twenty inches wide. But whatever that
is in metric, Philip, you can you can quote them that.
But I love this. I'm man. We we never got
(06:47):
anything like this after this, like something so big the
entire like it really shows the peak of marketing that
T ANDNG had. It just had everything and it throws.
But this was, yeah, such a fun set and like
I said, many a action figure movie was made with this.
(07:08):
So yeah, I still have a lot of my playmates
action figures, but they're mostly up in the attic. There's
a few that sit on a couple of shelves, but
I can't. I can't part with them. I didn't have
like everything and anything because they started to like, you know,
Picard as Galen from you know.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
The dismissing it like he wouldn't have bought that, Like I.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Mean, I really want, you know, Jordie turning into a
blue fade transporter. You know, I never got you know, Lore,
which was probably wearing the same costume as Galen, you
know what.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
But finsight, Yeah, men, don more Doc you know, it's
all wait a minute, it's the same guy. Uh but yeah,
all that to say, man, they were just cranking those out.
And sure they had maybe one, two, three, four or five, six,
seven eight, like maybe.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
A dozen points of our ticket. Not a lot, guys,
not a lot. Sitting in the cabine chair looked very like. Yeah,
they were always like I want to sit with my
knees tucked up under me or something. Yeah, it's you
know what. It was enough for us, and we we
liked it. They were all man spreading every time they
(08:32):
sat down. All of them didn't matter. But yeah, but
that was my start. I just again enjoyed playing with them. Againt.
These were my friends. Were so kind to me because
my spring break was Hey, come moorder my house for
like three days. We'll stay up every night and we'll
(08:52):
make you know, a little video with my action figures
and it'll be fun. And it was fun. But also
I'm like, man, and my friends were the best, because
that's that's quite the ask. But what about you, Philip?
What kind of things started your trek collecting? Was it
(09:13):
like the model ships you had to assemble or was
it also playmates? I mean, we were all before the
Eagle Moss era of many tiny, perfectly replicated ships. You know.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Yeah, it's funny because I think, yeah, probably, like many
my collections, probably stem from what I couldn't get, because
it is weird when I think what did I actually
have as a child, And there's not much now that
I'm thinking about it. I mean, as far as Star
Trek stuff, I don't want. It was not deprived by
(09:50):
any means, but like as far as Star Trek stuff,
like I can remember my and this is a random thing,
so I remember my dad. I don't know if it
was Hot Topic or Spencer's gifts, but what had like
a huge like display from whatever Star Trek was selling
DVDs or whatever. But it was so like it was huge.
(10:10):
I mean basically I hung it from my ceiling fan
but it was like a monster where it's almost like
done four ways and each section was a different series.
It was like TOS and then TNG and DS nine
and then Voyager. I think it was Honkin, But that
was so cool. That's always like when I see movies,
like they're.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Just display, like you'll tell yeah, I'll just put that
in my room.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
No, like when the old Star Trek movies are. I mean,
they're all old at this point, but all the old
Star Trek movies are playing at cinemas. I'm always like,
if I see a post, I mean, they don't keep
those right, like you know, but then I don't think
that anyway. But long a story short, I mean, I
know I had playmates acting figures. Now I don't remember
I had a lot though. I mean I probably had
a pick card obviously, But like I'm trying to think back,
(10:54):
like I could tell you turtles how you know, it's
like I tell you the first one. It was the
spin on his back Raphael action one, but.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Yeah, that was only the.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Corner.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Now, it was like the whole action set like Donna
Tello was like a swimming one where you wound up
and then Rafael had like a little blue thing you're
really putting us back and you could spin them around.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Anyway.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Yeah, I don't think I have much cool but rude, yes,
because as I look around my room, my Trek room,
like anything original from Phillips Hands from the nineties, I
don't know if I have anything, to be honest, I mean,
this is all you know since you know twenty this. Yeah,
(11:42):
there's a lot of stuff either, I mean, nothing ever
got thrown away, but like, for instance, like I own
a Ultron from the eighties, you know with all the lions,
but that's mine. My mom threw mine away originally, and
so I had to buy a new one. So yeah,
it is hard for me to really look around and
see anything original that well. I mean, I don't know when.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
I got it.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
One thing I do remember having forever is the shill
Craft Goddard.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Ah.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Yeah, So have you.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
A lot recollected everything or is it a goal of
yours to recollect everything that you once have?
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Well, like I said, I don't have a lot, and
so I think it's really what I wanted. And then
I think and obviously TG person. But but then there's
a slight completionist because like you know, I'm looking at
my bridge TG bridge set, I have you know, all
the TG folks behind me that you can't see, you know.
I have like a DS nine shelf, which I wasn't
I'm still not a huge DS nine fan. But I
have like the original Das nine figures, and then I
(12:36):
have a few of the later ones, like Cisco in
a chair in the new uniform. I have warf in
the new uniform, which I use the TNG, but I
put them with the S nine. I have Dax in
the new uniform the wharf.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Why are you on this shelf? Well, I happened to
be in the sector and the movie was starting, so
I came down here.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
The same thing with Voyde and I don't really have
a complete forge something. It's kind of in the market.
I just don't think the figures look great of Playmate's Voyager.
So like, I don't have Neelix yet because I don't
think this looks really good. But I'll say to Neelix,
I don't have the doctor, but I have everyone who
should be on the bridge on the bridge. That's the
only thing I mean. And I got lots more than that,
(13:16):
but that's sort of long and short. And then Enterprise
they had like the big figures, and so I think
my archer that I think. I think the archer I
have may be original to me, but my to Paul
and then my Tucker. Tucker I got like three years
ago or something, and I think I got to Paul
the same year. So yeah, not a lot of original stuff.
(13:37):
I mean, you know, without me battling the whole time.
I think what really drew me, especially when I discovered,
you know, not sponsored, uh discovered that my person does
all the three D printing triple fiction productions. Because when
I saw what he was doing, because we all grew
up with the place that's like you said, Darren, and
the TG bridge said pretty good? Pretty good? Are the
other ones not what they looked like?
Speaker 3 (13:59):
I mean, I mean there was really three. It was
the bridge, the right and the engineering.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
Yeah, I have engineering because that engineer looks good. I
mean doesn't. It's you know, it doesn't have good long ways,
so you'd have to sort of where the you know,
the table and all that.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
It's like just enough to play you know it we
need it needs but it needs the pool table. Yeah,
and that ferjority to roll under check that figure.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Transporter room is not doesn't it doesn't. I mean I
don't want anyone who loves it and enjoys it and
you know has great members. Well it looked like the
transporter room.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
Right, because it was a practical effect, so it had to.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
Shake it big. But like I have the three D
printed transporter that looks like the transporter room, and then
I have the Voyager bridge, and then the you know,
without going into it, but so that's how I sort
of have crafted my collection is like oh he he
three D prints of these you know, bridge sets. He
does a bunch of stuff, but like, well then I
have to get everyone at their station, and so it's
(14:55):
sort of like I have these playmates, they can go
with the set, but then the set that requires more playmates,
and so it sort of built that. It was my
use but anyway, but yeah, so I mean I'm by
and large to stop talking is an action figure guy.
I do have some ships on the shelf because I
just always wanted that observation lounge thing. So I do
(15:17):
have like a shelf shelf shelf that has you know,
original A, the B. I never made a C. Don't
get me started. I'm in DENI So.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Yeah, I'd still always been on my list to make.
Eventually I want to make, i don't know, out of
foam or three D printing or something, a full size
replica of the Golden Enterprises on the wall from the
Observation because those stuckers are big. There's that like behind
(15:47):
the scenes picture of like Doug drugs are and a
couple of guys who like rescued them out of the
and like one of them is like six feet long,
like it's it's huge.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
It's got to be the B, right, the Enterprise, B,
the Excel whatever.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
It No, No, it was the it was the D.
Yeah it was uh yeah, the biggest one. But it
makes sense like they're along a wall, which is, you know,
twenty thirty feet long.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
But I think that wouldn't be too difficult, right, because
they're not super detailed.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
They're just no, they're very profile and they're purposely made
where like if you were to look down instead of
straight on at them, all of the features extend or
it's kind of like they're extruded back to the wall.
It's like in the Celle, is it floating there, it's
it's going all the way back for support. So nothing
(16:38):
is like dangly, like it's all just extra. It's all
chunky and thick.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
So one thing just was random. But when you said
the bridge set there, because I was thinking in the
back of my head other toy sets from the period
and your parent I'm sure you have toy sets that
you've had to deal with, but like I would say,
I don't know three four So play set are usually
designed to like fold up to travel because I'm thinking
of like, huh, I had that would fold up. I
(17:07):
had peeple with machines and that would fold down. And
then like but like, you know, this bridge set is
a monster. But then I think about like and I've.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
Never taking this to a friend's house. It was like
it lived on your coffee table and it didn't go anywhere.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
I mean I was not a G I Joe person,
but I remember like there was like a big sets
those that like that was another thing of like you know,
you put that.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
On the table and it lived there. Yeah. When I
was young, we always had like a group of friends
and each of us kind of had a thing. So
like one of my friends had like all the Lego,
you know, not that I didn't have Lego, but like
he had a huge collection. And one of my friends
had like G I. Joe and like one of my
friends had Ghostbusters and I had Star Trek and one
(17:48):
fred ed Turtles. So we just went over to whoever's
friend's house. We wanted to play that day and save
so much money or our parents' money. I guess what
about you, Daniel, were you action figure or poster or
collectible car game?
Speaker 1 (18:03):
The Techno Drome.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Or did you have the party wagon talking about Star
Trek filling Oh, oh, okay, I had both the Techno
Drome and the Bargoyles. I'll allow it because of the
crossovers and the.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
And the sewer. The Techno Drama attack. Wow, I had the.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Techno drove was awesome. Yeah, the front opened up and
the ball rolled down and crushed your ene means that
was cool.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
Yeah, I had all the Turtle stuff. I was big,
big into the Turtles Star Trek at the time, not
so much like you guys. I mean, you guys always
talk about the bridge place that I never had it.
Never had it again. I didn't have anything from tg
ERA except I had some first contacts, like really tall figures.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
We've talked about right around ninety six that kind of
started to do different scales. It wasn't just the playmates,
uh what three and three quarter I camera with the
exact size.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
But yeah, I had a couple of enterprises. But that's
probably that's kind of were like, so I'm not big
collectors really like you, Like you.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Guys are totally fine, Like that's not the point of
this to be like, well, Daniel didn't spend give his
lunch money to be a true fan in nineteen ninety two.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
If I were to and I kind of, like Philip mentioned,
like being a completion, it's like that's the thing. If
I were to get into it. That's why I kind
of avoid it. It's like, yeah, I want to do it,
because then lot all the tiny ships I can't get
all the time. Where am I going to put all
these tiny ships?
Speaker 3 (19:28):
I don't know, man, your little ships.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
But uh, you know, I get I get lots of
gifts and stuff like that, so I kind of have
like a mishmash of everything really, and like you mentioned
the the Hallmark stuff, I get a bunch of those,
and I have I have, you know, it's just some stuff.
I have stuff, but it's not I don't go out
of my way to collect because I think that way
would be madness for me, So to be on the
(19:54):
safer side, I just I sort of chilled.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
So when you say a bunch of enterprises, I am curious,
like what what form?
Speaker 1 (20:01):
And oh, at the time, well, I had the one God,
so I sent one on.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
The like the regular enterprise t you that didn't have
a stand and.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
You just yep, yep, yep. Put it also. I actually
put it in the chat if you guys want to
take a peep. But we were looking at that auction
from before, and it's the one where you put it together.
It was like it's called steel Tech. I had that
enterprise as well, and it had sound effects and lights
and it was very complicated and I remember rusting eventually,
(20:31):
so I had to throw it out.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Oh yeah, that's kind of like an erector set exactly.
It's it's like director set for the saucer and everything
else is plastic. That it made it look like the
enterprise because.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
Because that housed all the electronics and the and the
lights and stuff like that. So so yeah, so I
just like three or four of it, like different types,
and that was all into that. I had to define
it as well. It was one of those model kits
put together which were not good for playing. By the way,
you should not play with those, but I did at
the time, and it was very It was all break
(21:07):
because I never painted it or anything like that.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
So you're like, it's cloaked.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
It doesn't have to.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
I do remember, just because I am looking around and
like within arm distance micro machines, these are I'm kicking
with my foot were there? Those those are original to me,
I say, like original original to me contemporarily, but you know,
by bought whenever they came out, because I remember those
when the I don't know what to call it, the
big box of Star Trek micro machines came out because
(21:38):
they sold them at three.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
Because I remember, I remember it was it was like
Star Trek and then it was like Star Trek and
then had like packed two or something.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
But yeah, when that first one came out, that was
I mean I got that, and that's what all these
are for you. But yeah, those were that was because
it was like.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
We all recognize those like tear drop uh stands. It
was like it was like Ami white because lost and
broken and oh yeah because.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
The separated right that's what I remember.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
There's there's several what of the regular one and there's
a separate one that I got right here. This is
the one that separates right here. Yes, I remember the
main one that was special one.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
I wanted all those. I did want all of those.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
There's your tear drop stand But anyway, so but yeah,
because that first came out and the like, it was
like especially you know it's like you got all what
you would think you would get us all the ships
you you would think T O, S, Enterprise t G,
and there's like the special Enterprise A. You know, it's
like the special one on top. And then the second set,
(22:42):
the special one was the Enterprise E and that was yeah, yeah,
And it was like it's like Beatles when the Beatles
anthologies came out, like first volume, second blume and by
the third the kind of scraping the barrel and so
it's right after that it's like kson Fighter to if
it comes with the others, why not.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
It's kind of funny in this age of Eagle Moss
where it's kind of like, you know, man, I got
all these ships for a fraction of the price and
a fraction of the size back in the micromachines era,
like you know, rather than twenty five thirty bucks a ship.
I mean, obviously detail is different, but.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Because some of them I forget what they aren't always
have to like google, like volume two, then I'll pull
up my ship.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
What is this again?
Speaker 2 (23:23):
But Jeorde fighter or is that a hazea?
Speaker 3 (23:26):
What is this thing? Yeah? No, I was again like
like you said Philip earlier about the you know, the
three D printed sets that kind of like fill those
gaps that never came to be, because I mean, I
totally get I understand why Voyager didn't have a bridge
play set like that. There was just not the it was.
(23:46):
That wouldn't have been supported. That would have been a
bad financial decision. But you know, oh man, I think
we all dreamed of like some sort of promenade set,
you know, with Quark's Bar, and the thing would have
been massive.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
In that commercial time to go into Quark's Bar for
some the l at the Dado table, I'm all into
my goal press Latin.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Like the Double Girls like blurred out in the background.
It's like, we can't we can't actually show you that.
For the age of the Hollow Suite, I thought none.
He didn't exist in the future.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
It's more complicated than that.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Are you doing here putting down this illegal weapons trade?
Speaker 3 (24:36):
That's that's not a just street sign, that's ODO, you
know with more faction.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
That was just like the slime of like nineties area ODO.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Now yeah, I think, yeah, the more you actually say it,
the more I'm like, okay, I could kind of see
like that would really work as well. Although I always
wanted an ops like OPS was so cool even just
to understand where everything was, because I it was very
hard for me as a kid to get a bead
on like wait, like where's Dax. She's over there. But
(25:13):
but because it's just in the round, so it's very
very tricky, you know.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
One thing, so we're talking about like quarks and stuff
like that. One thing that I would be it's like
somewhat interested in doing is like either screen used or
replicant replicas of like like say you get like some
of those mugs.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Or oh yeah, those mugs with the flared base and
it like leaked all the time because like it wasn't
that well made. But when I'd already shown you guys
my cloaking uh clean on bird of Prey mug that
looks like the kind of misprint heat adhesive stuff on
the outside, it.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
Just it kind of works.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
But yeah, now I think you know, I've recently been
getting some more of the of the little ships, you know,
just to put on the wall and remember. But I've
gotten a lot of Gargoyle stuff with the recent Neca
figures because because those are all the figures we kind
of wish existed, because you look at Gargoyle stuff from
(26:12):
the nineties and it's very like was this mold original
or was this something else? Like it didn't quite look
like the show. They kind of had a lot of
artistic license. But yeah, but it's you know, it's fun.
It's fun remembering. You know, if I want to make
another Playmate's action figure movie, I could. I guess I
(26:34):
don't really desire.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
To YouTube channel here we come, but yeah, I think
for me is you know, is it not that I
go have gone to that many lately, but when I
go to cons, you know, my favorite thing else is
just really the vendor spoof that's really knowing what I
care about. I'm just looking at stuff and when it
(26:55):
comes to and I'm not talking about like say books
or posters or pictures, you know that all that wonderful stuff,
but as far as like stuff merchandise, toys, whatever you
want to call it. But like for me, accuracy was
always more important than say like completionist or da da
da da da. And I don't mean like it has
a hundred percent, but I'm like, well, if I'm gonna
buy a phaser, I wanted to look like whatever I'm
(27:18):
looking at a TG phase or TS phaser. But if
it's like, you know, here's the remote control, they're like,
what doesn't look like I mean, that's just my taste. People.
You know, you can very high.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
No, I know what you mean. It's like, this isn't
a phaser, this is a cash grab. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
But like you know, you were talking Darren earlier about
sort of like people who have maybe large collections, and
it's just like maybe it's just to collect, which is fine, nothing, nothing, not,
you know, yucking anyone jump. But like to me, it
was always like, I mean, it's got to look like
the thing for me, and that's what's cool to me, like,
you know, because I like living in the world. And
so even like the playmates, I mean, obviously there's a
(27:55):
completionist element to like a show. So like, well it's
Dgo and all of them don't care. You know, Riker
does look like Riker or something. But like beyond that
core group, if I'm going to buy like a oh,
I don't know my height stuff, but like old school
Barbie size whatever the hall that is, you know, Picard
or Q or whatever, like, I would never buy it
(28:16):
if it didn't look like like that. I remember it
was it first contact when they when they made the
bigger figures, like you know it was the old school
Geo G Barbie. Yeah, like they still had regular ones,
but they they started.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Having ones with like cloth clothes, and it was like
my little mind was like I can't dig this so much.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Even just out of curiosity. It looks so for example,
for your TG like the Voyager one would be easier,
but like for your TG Bridge crew, are they all
represented like from the same season, Like like is what
what what is Wesley wearing? Is he there at all?
Speaker 3 (28:51):
Like are they a good question?
Speaker 1 (28:53):
Stripes at all?
Speaker 3 (28:54):
The card have his commit captain Jetsker have a beard?
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Like is it is it? Does it all match up
in terms of timeline? I'm just curious.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
For me, yes, it has to have like a condeption
because like here's the thing, you know, not necessarily a
favorite character, but I felt like this was an example
of like it's not a completionist one, like I still
want to get is I got the YR playmates, which
you know is the season one y are and I
don't otherwise I do not own any Season one Season
two playmates.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
The Dwarfs always in yellow and not in.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
Red, so but like for Jordy, so like I have
ensign row at the Helm, but I do have a Wesley.
He's in my ten forward.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
I think, like, which one is it?
Speaker 2 (29:39):
The only I think they only made one, like in
the Command, you know, full crusher. I'm not counting in
Globe or whatever before Playmates was obviously that's a whole
other set of figures. But as far as Playmates, I
think they only ever made one Wesley. Feel free people
yell at me, correct me, but I think they.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
Always found there was like more like I like, I thought, like, I,
you know, sad them or all of a type, and
then I'd look at like some catalog. He'd be like,
oh my gosh, there's like eighty more than I didn't
know ever existed that they made this.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Well, the Great White Whale, of course, and I've seen it,
I mean not in person, but data data in red.
I mean, that's the it exists, and there's there, but
it was such a limited number. I mean, you gotta
sell your right arm to get it.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
These days, I think you should. You should get one
for each season and then populate them with figures appropriately.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
That's well, I mean then, of course, this is how
I you know, it has to be like every tableau
or set, whatever you want to call it does have
to be consistent. So like right here, my engineering sets
right here, I think I'm trying to remember how this started.
I mean I got the engineering set presumably. I mean
this is not original to fillow so but because I
(30:56):
have some variation of figures, like I probably have like
three per cards or something, but I don't know which
one of these figures started. But I had the generations,
So then that meant, well, if they're all going to
be generations, they're all going to be generations. So then
I have Jordie and the generations or Voyager or whatever
you call. And then I got the Burt Barkley. So
(31:17):
like that said, is all like everything has to to
be consistent or you know, my left right will start
blanking it or something. But yes, so yes, the answer
is yes, okay, yeah, so yeah, like I said, the
only season one season two is y'are no one else
has the But like I have a borg corner and
I'm not necessarily a bored guy, and I'm trying to
(31:39):
remember how I because you know this Christmas and birthdays.
You know, I'm easy to shop for and some of
those may be like old, like this twenty twenty fourth
and maybe twenty years old at this point. But like
I have some like decent sized special Borg figures that
they made back in the day, and I think I
may got one or two of those, and then later
(32:01):
years I'm like, you just sort of see it at
con to see like the like they'll sell stuff, and
I know you all know this, but like you go
to cons, they'll sell like the stuff that's on the wall,
but then they'll have like the bin of like you know,
two dollars each. Yeah, which by the way they get
into them, I mean, ben's what you're looking for. But
like so I ended up having like you know, two
(32:23):
generic borg a hue, yeah, there are three generic borg
but anyway, but it so now I have a little
Boorg corner even though it's not this, but it's just
you cumulate, like I have a Boorg Rubik's Cube. Actually
I think my mother in law gave it to me.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
You just win, You're always winning the boards.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
So like in that one, I end up buying a
because then I have my board cube micromachines, and I
end up buying I don't know what you call it.
You've seen them at Spencer's Gifts, Her Hot Topic or
those kind of stores where it's the circle light becau,
it's a small version, like you know, the big version
of like but like if you make a yeah, it'll
do the borg light. So I have that right there,
the things.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
At the top of the borg uh chambers.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
Yeah, gotcha.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
So very thematic. That's how my collection goes. I'm like,
because I mean I had a bunch of stuff because
like I have a bag. I'm not a big bag,
but like a plastic bag full of like extras that
like I will give away happily to anyone, just like
you know, figures are not crazy about or I've accumulated
or you know, you buy five and there was only
two I really wanted and you know, and so.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Well awesome. Well yeah, it's you know, I think, like
we said, some people collect for nostalgia, some for you know,
technical prowess, like you want to know, like, okay, what
does this ship look like? Like there's also some things on. Well,
there's some things on like like if they came out
(33:57):
with a even a big model or a of like
the the Sagan class uh from from Picard Uh, the
one with the four cells. I would buy that in
a heartbeat, like as a stargazer. A yeah, the Stargazer,
I'd buy that so fast. Like, I love the look
of that ship. So we each have our own ships
(34:19):
that we like. I got a nice you know XL
Eagle Moss Reliant over here that I just brought over
from its shelf to sit on my desk. I'm like, oh,
I want to look at that for a while right now.
That's such a fun ship.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
Yeah, there's some stuff like you know, you all know
we share similar tastes. But I ended up getting the
Discovery Eagle Moss. It wasn't I mean, I didn't you know,
Sello hand for it, you know, but nobody A, B,
C or F. Yeah. Well I think it's technically the
A because.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
You know, but are then the cells attached, Philip, That's
what I meant to detached.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Yeah, i' they're.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
Not actually detached because it's plastic physics.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
So you know, yeah, I don't I look at well, yeah,
technically I don't have anything from our card I guess
per se, But then what would I mean? You could
have the Serena, I guess, or the Stargazer or the
Titan Enterprise.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Don't talk about it, but I mean that's what I
think is that they need a transformer changer where you
take the Titan and you go and then it.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
Turns into the Enterprise to the Titan A and you're like,
how exactly did that happen?
Speaker 1 (35:37):
All you use a sticker for that. That's always yeah, because.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
I think I'm sad because or you know, sad that
it's just modern and we said this before, uh contemporary
Trek just doesn't seem to be have that merchandising arm
for whatever reason, because like lower decks are not lower
decks Prodigy. I'm gonna have Prodigy ripe with stuff it
should I mean they put out it should be, but
(36:03):
it's not because without even spoilering, I mean, well, like
this is the season one thing with uh Merph, you'd
have original Mirph and then you can sell or zero
modified zero has changed a whole bunch in the series.
So yeah, well hurt their their figure is cool because
(36:24):
you can actually modify it because you can put it
with legs or you can take it off and there's
like a plastic back you can put on it and
so it floats for the ball. Yeah, yeah, that is
pretty cool. But yeah, I'm sad because obviously there's not
well they haven't put out a rock talk or hologram
chain way, but.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
Oh well, so go watch Prodigy season on Netflix. Get
those numbers.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Over again.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
In the background the whole time. Let your pet watch it.
They'll enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
As I mean, with another discussion for another time. You know,
I'm not a hard media person. I don't really own
that much our media start Trek, I own all the movies,
all the movies, but the only thing other thing I
own is Productce season one. So I will buy Producly
season two when it comes out, just to be like,
please come.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
I did buy all of the I think Summer Gifted,
but I bought all of the lower decks Deep Blu
rays just to just to have, just because I also
don't trust streaming to never not show shows. And I'm like,
I like this show and I want to buy it
and show that I like it so people they'll see like,
(37:34):
oh look, people are buying this this physical media. So
physical media, physical toys. There's all sorts of things to collect.
We didn't even get into plates, but you know, we
don't have the time to get into the plates and
why plates you.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Have pass there are Ts coasters and again I sometimes
I don't even know where they get this stuff. I
cannot consciously remember spending my own money. I feel like
gift or somehow otherly acquired. I'm seeing if it's literally
around me, because it's like six of those. And as
I clean, you know, every year or whatever, I periodically
(38:11):
like I take everything out, put everything back in, and
like what's left over? And I'm like, do I want
to give away? And do I? Or is it like
a clever way of like I'll put like my Tos
figures or large TS figures and just put them on
top of the coasters. So I don't know, you always
just like I don't have I don't want to be junkie,
you know, even though it's close quarters here.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
But no, exactly all right, Well, didn't get to It's
been fun listening to Philip talk about his collection. But no, yeah,
I think I'm glad that it all is a franchise
that has a lot of stuff. I mean, if you
(38:52):
want Stargate or Babylon five, like, it's a little harder
to find those things.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
So I do have Bablon five on the bottom shelf rights.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Oh there you go, there you go. You're true fan,
true fan. Well those figures yeah no, yeah, look they're
all at an intergalactic piece submit somewhere, you know. Yeah,
the Babylon five people are like your space station doesn't
spin artificial what? But all that to say, if someone
(39:27):
wanted to find you, Daniel and mail you your wish
list figure, where did they find you?
Speaker 1 (39:35):
Man? If they knew that they would know me better
than myself, so you can find me at one of
den that's the number one, not the worst.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
And Philip, if someone wanted to send you filament to
three D print more of the Enterprise, where did they
find you?
Speaker 2 (39:50):
They can find me on Instagram at C A P
T S F U F P. And I have all
of my Doctor Who figures on there. I don't start
two stuff, I guess.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
And if someone wanted to watch my nineteen ninety four
or nineteen ninety nine home movies with my playmates action figures,
there's somewhere online I should link to them, but they
might be able to find it at Doctor sci Fi
dot com d R S C I F I.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
You take a big break between those, huh. I needed
to write the Sequela some time to fill the.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Bible figures, you know.
Speaker 2 (40:26):
Okay, all right, I'm Darren Moser, I'm Philip Gilphis.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
I'm danielper stranded here on city offa three
