Speaker 1 (00:23):
What's up, everybody.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
This is Scott Jaeger here with another installment edition episode
of Challenge Accepted. This is My All Q and a
podcast where I answer your questions from challengemaniacs dot com
about anything and everything, some about the Challenge, Reality TV
Challenge MANI events, whatever you guys want, whatever you guys ask,
I will at least attempt to answer, of course, in
(00:46):
a spoiler free fashion. But I also love this podcast
because it gives me a chance to unpack recent festivities,
things going on in the world, things I have thoughts on.
I don't need a burden day or a guest with
so this has no time limit. It's just me shooting
the shit with you guys, and I appreciate you guys
(01:06):
who do listen to this podcast. It also gives me
a chance to kind of info dump and let you
guys know about stuff we have going on. I always
like to kind of begin every episode making sure you
guys are fully downloaded. And it's Wednesday, December tenth, which
means we're in the thick of our pre sale for
Chicago Bulls. By the time you're hearing this, you might
be able to get tickets a challengemaniacs dot com. It
(01:28):
might just be up and might be able to find
the ticket link at challenge Mania dot Live, so check
that too. But we do often roll out our tickets
in a pre sale format over at challengemaniacs dot com
in the order of Savage, Diesel Maniac and then all patrons.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
And the reason we.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Do that is because you know, it's meant to highlight
and reward the loyalty from you guys who support.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Us year round.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
You know, we know that, like you know, and the
bonus content goes up at fifteen dollars a month and
that's you know, it's our most popular tier. For that reason,
a lot of you guys are sticking with us for
the bonus content or the video and add free audio
and things like that. And so we know that, you know,
fifty dollars a month, you know, the extra thirty five
or or in some cases one hundred dollars a month
(02:15):
for the for the Savage level. You know that extra money,
A lot of it comes from you guys who just
want to be extra supportive and and so to reward
you guys, we want to make sure you guys have
first crack at vip tickets.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Never miss out on the perfect.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Seat or the ability to meet a cee tier at
Johnny or whomever you might want to get tickets to
an event for. And it's not unlike I've used this
analogy before, the way that you know the Yankees or
the Dodgers, you know they've got eighty three or eighty
six home games or whatever it is all season, you know,
and when, and not all of those are sold out
or really sought after tickets.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
There's a lot of them.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Some of them are during the day, some of them
are against the uh, you know, the Raise or whomever.
But then playoff time, everybody wants tickets. So who do
they roll out tickets to? First and ticket holders, the
people who buy tickets to all their games, who come
to all their games, or even buy tickets to games.
They don't even come to you during the regular season.
And so that's sort of why we roll out our
tickets in that way. Now, the one hack that you
(03:13):
know that they don't really provide is that, let's say
you find out, oh we're coming to Chicago, Oh we're
coming to Philly, we're coming to Texas, we provide you
with a little bit of a heads up where if
you just want to go Diesel or Savage for that month,
make sure you get the tickets, you can go ahead
and do that and then you can go back to
maniac level or not.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Even being a patron at all.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
I do encourage people to go to challenge maniacs dot
com and sign up at least at the free member
level so you don't miss out on alerts or announcements
or emails, which is something Patreon didn't even offer for
the first few years.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
They've recently started it.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
And now, look, we know money doesn't grow on trees,
and even if you don't have a dollar or five
dollars or fifteen dollars, we want to make sure you're
on our email list, you know. And we kind of
use Patreon as a newsletter as an email list, and
if you are signed up over there and you give
us the keys to your email, basically we're going to
make sure you never miss out on an announcement or
an on sale. And it pains me when we do
one of these events and photos go up and I
(04:05):
read the comments as people saying I live in Atlanta,
how did I not know about this?
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Or what have you? Or you know?
Speaker 2 (04:10):
And and truly, I don't know, you know, and I
know that algorithmically Facebook and Instagram they do sometimes bury
or hide posts, particularly ones that look like advertisements. So
it's funny that, like, you know, to me, I feel
like we post these flyers incessantly, but these social media
platforms they don't love putting flyers on people's feeds, you know,
they like organic content and whatnot. And then after the event,
(04:32):
when we're posting, you know, what looked like more classic
Facebook photos because it's just people hanging out or having
a good time or posing with cast members, then that
does show up on your feed, and by then it's
obviously too late and we're probably not coming back for
a year, so you'll never miss out on if you're
listening to this podcast, you have any interest in us,
clearly you have a little bits you're listening to me,
talk to myself.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Go to challengemaniacs dot.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Com because I do put this podcast up on the
free feed, and I know many of you guys live
over there. You wait for podcasts to go up over there.
You're cool ads, et cetera. But challenge Maniacs dot com
maniac level or above gets you early in ad free content.
You'll never hear another advertisement again. You can watch things
in full video. And also you'll never miss out on
an announcement. You can even get those announcements, like I said,
(05:14):
for free. So we've got New York coming up next
on January twenty third. I put this together because I
wanted to make sure we got all four cast members
in the same place who just got these Tops Allen
and Ginter cards. And for those of you guys who've
been following so, Tops, Allen and Ginter is a line
of cards that come out towards the back end.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Of the year every year. They've been doing it for
years and years, and at its core, it's a line
of baseball cards, you know, baseball stars of.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Today, Aaron Judge, Wan Soto, whomever. And then they sprinkle
in you know og baseball players Babe Ruth andk Aaron,
and they also have a wide variety of celebrities. They
also even have more you know, interesting things. They'll have
dogs or pets or dinosaur fossils, state birds will have cards,
and then celebrities ranging from you know, this year has
(06:05):
Brian Cranston and Al Pacino and Larry David and Drewski
and DJ Khaled to some reality stars, including this year,
we have Wes Bergman in there, Mark Long, Carl, Maria Sorbelo,
and Michelle Fitzgerald. And I'm proud to say, I do
you know, play a part in getting these guys in
this line, and did play a part last year and
(06:27):
getting Derek and Cet in there, and was very happy
we were able to get it from two to four.
And I can tell you that Michelle, because we're getting
a lot of why Michelle questions and if you read
the back of her card, the challenge is mentioned. But
Michelle was someone they wanted and I was asked about
because of her Survivor prowess. You know, Michelle is a
modern day Survivor goat over there. I mean, she's never
(06:48):
been voted out of Survivor. She makes the final three
on Winners at War. She's on Winners at War because
she won Survivor co wrong. And also in this line
is Ethan Zoon, who won Survivor and is a great
I didn't play any part in him getting in the line,
but he happens to be in it. And then another
one is Jamie Chung who Real World is mentioned on
the back of her card, but she was probably courted
(07:11):
and booked for this line because of her.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Acting prowess and the fact.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
That she's really developed into a great female and television
actress and personality, and it just so happens that she's
a Challenge champion two so five challengers and and an
extra survivor in this line, which is very cool.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
And what's cool.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
About this line is they get relic cards. So for instance,
you know, Mark submitted a couple of bandanas of his,
you know, Carl Maria submitted one of her jerseys, and
some of them the relic cards. Now they have numbered
relic cards. They didn't have them numbered in the past,
but they will contain a piece of this Challenge artifact.
And Derek's last year if you remember, I had a
(07:51):
piece of his orange Dirty thirty jersey that he came
in second on that season, and then a couple of
years before them, I think it was actually it wasn't
even the year before. It's probably two three years before
or Johnny and CT got cards in this line. So
if you're sort of catching up and building an Allen
and Ginter Challenge collection, you can go on eBay and
you can start it today and you can get Johnny bananas.
(08:11):
And Johnny actually clarified the relic in his card is
the jersey that he wore to take the money from Sarah.
So I always say, I tell these people, I recommend
give them the coolest thing, and sometimes they play coy
and they're like, I want to keep my cool stuff.
I'm gonna give them this backup jersey, or I'm gonna
give him this jersey from you know whatever it is,
Champs versus Stars. But I think the cooler the moment.
I mean, what's cooler than having a jersey of yours
(08:34):
or a moment of yours immortalized with a TOPS card.
You know that people are gonna be able to collect
and buy on eBay, and people are gonna be having
you signed for the rest of your life. So I
think it's awesome that Derek submitted is thirty thirty jersey.
I love that it's colored, it's orange, it looks really cool.
I just found out this week that that's this jersey
Johnny submitted, and that makes it even cooler that it's
one of his most famous jerseys. And I love the
(08:54):
bandanas that Mark submitted are very colorful. They look very
cool and those are a great fit. And I think
Michelle mentioned I forget what she submitted, but Wes, I
think our pants. But they're pretty dark in one note,
but still cool, you know. And some people put zero
thought into the relics that they deliver. But I always
tell you, I go, I go. This is your one
(09:14):
chance probably to have like a relic card. Use a
cool jersey, Use one that pops, use one that looks cool.
I love ones that have like lettering and stuff because occasionally,
you know, a lot of the patches are single color,
but some of them will be multi color. You get
a letter or a logo in there, and that's really cool.
It adds to the value of the card, secondary market
and everything. So today go on eBay, grab Johnny, and
grab TJ, and grab Derek and grab CTCT unfortunately doesn't
(09:38):
have any ReLit cards. But they also have signature cards.
You can get them unsigned and then bring them to
our event and they'll sign them. Or you can get
the limited editions signature once that they signed four tops
and this year, of course, you can get Michelle, you
can get Wes, you can get kr you can.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Get Mark Long.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Mark Long actually got a first pitch card as well
this summer from a first pitch you throughout with us
in Arizona last year, and that came out in Tops
MLB Season two, Series two, I should say, this year,
so you can find those on EBA two. You Mis
has the first pitch card too, if you want to
add him.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
To this collection.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
And then as I said, you can get Jamie Chung
and Ethan's on of course, Jeff Prop's got one last
year if you want to broaden out and do Survivors
as well. And so we have this event on January
twenty third, and I put this event together because I
want to get all four of them, at least the
four that I was responsible for getting in the line
there together so that you guys could get your cards,
(10:34):
bring them, get them signed. They'll have extras there as well. Fanatics,
which owns TOPS. They're based here in New York, so
we're hoping to have a lot of the people who
work for Tops and Fanatics there, whether they come out
on stage and maybe give us some background or help
us kind of tell.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
The audience how the stuff comes together, or they're just
there to support.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
It'll be cool having them in the room for sure.
So put that on your coundar. They're still tickets available Friday,
January twenty third here in New York City, Big roomed
City Winery. And then and by the way, by the way,
I'm just gonna throw this in here as well, a
little humble brag. But when I say I'm like responsible, okay,
(11:17):
it's like, you know, I put them in touch, you know,
or you know, I give them, give them ideas, but
a lot of the time they kind of have in
mind who they want. But and a lot of the
and again a lot of them have been to our
shows in New York, so the scene, the way that you.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
React to people.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
But uh but yeah, and I, you know, just connect
them with people. And I also this year, I'm happy
to say I connected them with the representation of a
few actors that got in this line.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
It's very cool.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
So you might see Britney Snow in there and Skyler Aston.
Both of them were in Pitch Perfect, Brittany Snow's now
in my favorite Netflix show, Hunting Wives. They are and
there because I connected their reps with with the team
over there. And then Bill Fickner, William Fickner, who you
guys might know from Dark Night you and your friends
(12:01):
are dead from that opening scene in the bank. He's
also and heat goes in ice arm again. And I
when I was a kid, I used to before I
even knew his name, I just called him evil Tony
Hawk because that's what you reminded me of. But he's
in here, and that's really cool. So shouts to Ethan
over there who worked with those guys and helped get
them in the line. So as a as a collector myself,
(12:22):
I'll admit I'm not like a massive card collector and
that I like, you know, flip and make money on it.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
But I love you know.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Cards and collecting in general and memorabilia. So it's really
fun connecting that world with UH, with the challengers and
for a lot of them, I know it's a dream
come true. So and you know would be for me
as well. And it's even a dream come true to
be involved in any way. So that is a long
seguay to say that. We also have another event that
you can bring her to west Bergman and mark long
Cards too, which is Chicago Bulls. Tickets are on sale
(12:51):
for that today and that's on March the first, and
and these bowling events, of which we do maybe one
maybe two a year. I love because you know, it's
a little change of pace. We're doing it in Chicago,
where we will get back later on for a live show.
But truth be told, my first attempt for this weekend
would have been a live show, but City Winery wasn't
available either day. Selfishly, I picked the weekend because WW
(13:12):
has elimination Chamber there and so I hit him, my
man Brian at Bowlero, and we found this new location.
We're doing a slightly different location than we did last year,
but that went so well that we're coming to the
Deer Park Bowlero location.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
What I love about these is the price of the
ticket includes four hours of free bowling.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
So if you do that math I mean almost covers
part of, if not all, the ticket to begin with.
Then you get a chance to meet take photos with
everybody throughout the afternoon. Some of you pay a little
mortget to be at a lane permanently stationed with a
cast member, play alongside them, compete with them, have them
on your team. However you guys decided to do it
at that lane. We give away prizes to the top scores.
It's a really fun interactive event. It's not Champ Camp,
(13:52):
don't get me wrong, but it's as close as we get,
you know. And by the way, I love what Jordan's
doing with Champ Camp. I think it's really cool. It
is something I have zero interest in doing that style
of thing where I mean this guy literally, I mean
I saw it, you know, because I was with him,
and I think our first question is actually about that.
But I was with him this past weekend. He briefly
(14:13):
came to Over the Edge Celebrity weekend. When I say briefly,
I only say that because he was up all night
the night before and the day before and had to
leave again to go back in the middle of the
rain to literally go and build these competitions from scratch
and these apparatuses from scratch. He goes to home depot,
he buys the wood, he buys them metal, he puts
(14:33):
them together. And if you've ever seen clips from these
Champ camps, he's out there with a drill like fixing
them on the spot. So he does it. He builds
the damn thing. He does it from the ground up.
It's super cool. And for those of you guys who
have ever wanted to test your luck or test your
speed or your strength, agility or eating prowess against the
challengers of today and yesterday. I mean, that's something he provides. Now,
(14:58):
as far as I'll go is, I'll have you a
bowl alongside West and an Amber and Mark, and we'll
obviously we'll have at least three more cast members as
well for that. So if you're listening to this and
the pre sales going on, go to challenge Maniacx dot
com or like I said, you might be listening this
towards the back half of the day, and I've already
made it available at Challenge Mania dot Live.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
So check that out. First.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
Questions about Jordan Bronco, Brad says, saw the Reality weekend
you were at. Had Jordan any chance we see him
at a Challenge Mania and or on the pod this year?
Speaker 1 (15:26):
I hope.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
So, so we did a Challenge panel. He took part
in that. Unfortunately it wasn't recorded against as it wasn't
my event. I sort of relied on them. I floated
it out there to omar, hey, anyway we could record this.
Some of the guys that might have been able to
do it were kind of busy. Shouts to Joe and
Nick from the you know, I'm right podcast they were
like doing their own content at the time.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
We didn't even really get great pictures of the.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Panel, but all I was doing was hosting it, so
I kind of couldn't be doing a million things at once.
But but he was nice enough to do it. I
think it went well. You know, he's got his own
stuff going on. I think, you know, since he and
I don't necessarily have a relationship, not a bad one
by any means, but we don't really have an ongoing relationship,
(16:11):
and anytime I reach out to him bout it, he
kind of just gives me the you know, maybe later
or next time. And him and Derek, I don't know
what you would call it, but they have this kind
of healthy competitive rivalry where Derek definitely doesn't feel comfortable
kind of flat out, you know, hard pitching him as
much as we might need from him for Jordan to
end up doing it. And that might sadly be what
(16:32):
Jordan's looking for, Like he might be looking for Derek
to really, you know, ask or say, hey, do me
a favor, or we'd really like to have you.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
On this one.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
But I just, you know, I can't say why he
doesn't do more of our shows. I can say this
half of it, which is, you know, a lot of
the people we get recurringly, we get because I'm very
persistent with them and have like a text relationship with them,
and I don't have that with him. So you know,
that's something missing that I think would help. And if
(17:02):
you're asking if this weekend we began that, I wouldn't
say we did.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
He was there briefly and sadly.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
I mean, the only reason I totally would have gone
to champ camp on Sunday, and actually, you know, was
planning on it and had a flight out of Orlando
until fairly recently.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
And then and then.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
A couple of things happened recently, which was Derek McCrae,
who lives in the Jacksonville area, owns a bar down there,
is very connected with the Jaguars and the fan base
and goes to a lot of the games and former
season ticket holder and all that. You know, he really
when we were in Buffalo with him a couple of
weeks ago, he was just telling me, you know, you
gotta come down, you gotta come down to a game,
(17:43):
blah blah blah blah blah. And then another thing that
happened was the Jags, you know, have kept winning and
now we're nine and four, and this well, we were
eight and four going into Sunday, and this game Sunday
ended up being on paper, one of, if not the
most important regular season Jaguars games ever and certainly in
recent memory, and certainly I mean, without question, in the
(18:05):
last ten years. And it was eight and four Jacksonville
against eight and four Indianapolis for sole place of first
place in the division. Now there's a lot of games
left to play, you know, and Houston's been winning. They
just took down Kansas City. And you know, just because
we went on Sunday doesn't mean we're gonna win the division,
(18:26):
doesn't even make mean we're gonna make the playoffs. But
still got another game against the Jets this Sunday, We've
got the Titans coming up. It's looking okay, it's looking good.
And so when I saw hey, and and then mccraig
puts on the hard cell, He's like, hey, look, you
can get to here, you can get to Daytona from Orlando.
I'll pick you up from here. So I basically ubered
about halfway. He picked me up, took me to the game.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
I was able to leave my suitcase and stuff in
his car.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
They took me right to the airport after and it
worked out, so I switched my flight to Jacksonville and
was able to go to that game.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
We ended up winning, sadly, Daniel Jones is out for
the year. Who knows if we would have won either way.
I think we would have. It was a great game
anyway by us, and now the.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
World's kind of turned around on the jack So I'm
happy I was able to go. The one casualty was out.
I mean I was in that uber by by you know,
seven forty five am, so I wasn't able to go
to Champ camp. And so you know, I really only
spent maybe an hour tops with Jordan on Saturday when
he kind of came in.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
I think he did a little bit of the meet
and greet, and you.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Know, he missed the challenge leg of the meet and greet,
so he had to get kind I think tacked on
the end of the Big Brother one.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
But he did that.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
He was nice enough to do the panel with me,
hung out in a room a little bit with him
and his his lovely girlfriend and and some other folks
and then they were out of there. They had to
go and go, you know, pick up and start moving
in and loading out equipment and things like that.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
And yeah, so.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
You know, had I gone on Sunday, maybe we'd be
talking about something differently. I'm not positive, but but.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
Yeah, so really only got like an hour with him
went well.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
But you know, it's not like I don't you know,
we're not you know, text buddies yet and that I
get again. That is, you know, when you look at
the people who do a lot of these and the
ones who either never do or rarely do, that's normally
the the you know, the the cognizance. No, that's not it.
The I don't know what the word I'm looking for is,
(20:13):
but it's usually the catalyst there we go. It's usually
the catalyst for the you know, is that like ease
of like okay, I don't need and when we started,
you know, I almost exclusively needed Derek for to be
the kind of person who broke her these deals or
you know and whatnot. And now for ninety percent of
them I don't and the ones I do need him for, sadly,
(20:34):
sometimes he doesn't like to be as persistent as you
need to be sometimes to get people on these pods
or to get him to come to these events and
shows and stuff.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
So but loved, loved hanging out with them.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
And if you've seen the clips and stuff from the
event on Sunday, just like the Jaguars, Jordan and Champ
Camp did not let the rain stop them, and neither
did the fans and the and the people who competed there.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
So it looked great.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
And congrats to him and this team and everybod buddy
helping out with that, because now they've done two of
them and they looked like they.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
Went really well.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Mary says, where do we rank Olivia now amongst female
Challengers all time? I feel like she just broke the
top ten four seasons in a row, two finals, one championship,
ten daily wins, five and two in eliminations.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Here's what I'll say.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
So, I think that the fact that the Challenge format
has changed so drastically a few times in that I
mean the first I don't know how many seasons, ten
seasons whatever, there weren't eliminations right then.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
For the first fifteen or so seasons it was large
group winners. You know.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Then we work into maybe a couple, you know, pairs
winners and some individual winners, but now we're almost exclusively
one male, one female winner, with a few exceptions. Obviously,
you get your War of the World's twos and things
like that, and you get longer seasons, more eliminations, you.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Know, the resume.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Sometimes you can have someone like Olivia four seasons in
a row, two finals, one championship, ten daily wins, five
and two eliminations. That resume on paper looks as good
as like an Emily Schams.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
You know.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
So where do you have Emily Sham. I mean, she's
in the Challenge Mania Hall of Fame. So I don't
scoff at Top ten at all when you say that.
I think the OG fans who don't love to put newer,
younger cast members in that sort of territory right away
would scoff at that or would have issues with it.
(22:35):
If they do, I'd say, name me ten that are
blatantly on paper better than that. And I said this
on the podcast with Derek recently when we were breaking
down the finale. It's like, you know, you rarely get
that validation and reward of like a main character, especially
someone who's the main character from like the second they
step on the show more or less. You know, you
could argue she was a supporting character or a breakout
(22:58):
performer on Rider Dies, but after that's she's been a
main character throughout that they end up winning, and especially
winning so earlier in their career. So I'm with you, Mary,
I'm an off and I'm gonna say, yeah, I'm gonna
put her in there. Actually, you know, but I'd have
Tory in there too, you know. Paul says Netflix won
the bid for WBD.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Is this bad? This is bad for the consumer? Right?
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Also, what does it say about theatrical movies that Warner
Brothers says objectively one of the most successful movie years
in modern history and is being sold right after? Yeah,
I mean, sadly, the two things have nothing to do
with one another. This was a great year, especially critically
but also financially for movies like Centers, one battle after another.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
There's another one in there. I'm forgetting Superman, I guess,
but yeah, I mean, look, those movies could have made
three times as much. Probably wouldn't matter.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
I mean, now we've got the hostile takeover bid by Paramount,
and I don't know that that's much better. So if
I had picked tween the two, I might even want
Netflix to have it over them. You know, there's a
lot of other reasons involved in that. But so this
is just the way it's going no matter what, and
I think we just have to stand and take it sadly.
But yeah, it's I mean, you wrote this question five
(24:03):
days ago. It's there's been a lot of stuff developing
since then, so it's hard to even answer. But you know,
I think I take Netflix over Paramount, But that's just
kind of how it's going.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Unfortunately.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
I do think that the reason a company like a
Netflix would be seeking to absorb a Warner Brothers would
not be to at least immediately completely cut out cinematic
experience and things. I think it would be also to
keep that going at least in some form of existence,
whether it's like you know, but those IMAX movies you
(24:33):
know that costs thirty dollars, or movies that are being
repurposed for the sphere and stuff like. I wouldn't be
surprised if you see Harry Potter in the sphere, you know,
I would see Wizard of Oz in the sphere. They're
charging one hundred dollars to three hundred dollars for those tickets,
and it's Aaron seven times a day, and a lot
of people are going, so, you know, and that's there's
only one sphere. Now, there's no reason there shouldn't be
four spheres, one in each, you know, corner of the country.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
And the big cities.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
And you're going to see, you know, a Harry Potter
that was re edited and redesigned for the sphere, and
they own all that. And that's in addition to the
fact that the whole Harry Potter library and the new
you Know is on Netflix, and that the new Harry
Potter series would be on HBO or Netflix eventually. So
I don't think it's spells doom for the Batman's and
the Superman's of the world, or even the occasional Ryan
(25:16):
Cougler or Christopher Nolan or Paul Thomas Anderson movie. I
think that's the direction this world is going in no
matter what. So Paul says, I'll be buying the Book
of Luke based off your wreck. What are your top
books you have read or listened to this year. I
don't think I read or listened to a single book
this year other than the Book of Luke, and I
told level this that it's like my comparisons are limited
(25:38):
because I'm embarrassed to say that my reading has decreased
so much. I don't know if this was this year,
but like the books I've even remember remember reading recently
are like, you know, the MCU book The History of
the MCU that Joanna Robinson wrote, I read recently.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
I forget if that was this year prior.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
You know, it's hard for me because in the moments
that I would usually read now, I'm either listening to
a podcast or scrolling or working or things like that,
and it's like, not only has it ruined my attention span,
but also it's just like those pockets of time that
would be reserved for reading or next.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
To none as far as listen to.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
I've never really been able to do audiobooks, and I
think the problem is I'm such a podcast junkie that
when someone's reading something, the fact that it has that
pacing of being something that's already been written, Like, my
brain is so used to organic in the moment discussions
where you're hearing people and they're articulating a thought they're
(26:38):
having in that moment, or they're responding to something that
was just said to them, Like, for whatever reason, listening
to people read feels less than you know, And so
I almost never listen to audiobooks, even though people would say, Oh,
if you're a podcast guy, why don't you listen to audiobooks,
maybe that's for you, It's never been for whatever reason,
and I think people assume, oh, podcast guy always has
an earbudt in, just make that an audiobook instead. But
(27:00):
the amount of podcasts I listened to I think has
ruined my ability to listen to audiobooks and process them
the same way. And it's like, there's this guy, Matthew Berry,
the talented mister Rodo. He's a podcaster, he's a fantasy
football expert, right, and I listened to all his podcasts
or he talks to people, and once a year he
reads his love hate column live on the podcast, and
(27:21):
I almost wish instead he would just kind of organically
get cued up for his love hate column and talk
about it with someone, but instead he choose to read it.
And I always find it so jarring and unlistenable because
I'm used to this guy's voice in real time having
conversations and here it is him basically just reading something
that's already been deciding so decided, so I know how
I react to that, and the few times I have
(27:42):
tried to listen to an audiobook that it's just it's
not for me. So I'm embarrassed to say. But that
being said, Book of Luke phenomenal, I told Lovell, I said,
my book references are limited because I read so one frequently.
But it reminds me of just stylistically in the way
he kind of like you know, has big cliffhangers at
the end of a chapter, and he like dropped this
big reveal that he won't even follow up on in
(28:02):
the next chapter. But it's sort of, you know, systematically
and gradually telling you about backstory and things that happen
to these people, whether it was in the moment that
you're reading or just something that happened in their past.
Reminded me very much of Ready Player one Dan Brown's
books like The Da Vinci Code, And again this goes
to show how few books I read today that my
references for his book and books that reminded me of
(28:24):
are so you know, they're ten to twenty years old.
But obviously this book exists in the.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
World of reality television.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
The reason it reminded me of of Ready Player One
is Ready Player one has so much to set up
in this world of like they're essentially, you know, AI,
living in like a lived in video game world, and
Ernest Klein has to kind of set that up and
set up the rules of the video game world, set
up the rules of this game and this challenge that
this mastermind set up, and then through that he's dropping
(28:51):
little references to Hollywood in the past and back to
the future in Spielberg movies and things, and if you've
seen the movie all that stuff comes to life, but
does something similarly where he creates this world of Endeavor
that's very familiar to us because it feels like the challenge.
It kind of feels like Survivor, and it he's dropping
a lot of references to stuff that does exist in
our real world, but also just like reality TV references
(29:13):
you may have heard on our show and things like that,
and the way these shows work while creating this fully
artificial world of not just Endeavor, which is a fake
show that exists in the world of the Book of Luke,
but the twenty Sister shows that these people came from
So for you those you guys who don't know the show,
endeavor in his book is not unlike the challenge in
that people are coming from a ton of different shows.
So in the book he's referencing a lot of these
(29:34):
people's original show as well, and they're very funny and poignant.
They remind you of real shows and stuff. So yeah,
that is my answer to your question, Paul, I wish
I had some better. I guess my top book would
be the MCU book if you have anything, if you
have any interest in like the story of the MCU
and how Marvel went from like a floundering comic book
company that couldn't even make a good movie to the
(29:56):
you know, juggernaut that it is today and Kevin Faige
taking it to the top and now he started as
an assistant.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
And all the behind the.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Scenes stories from like Edward Norton on the Hulk to
you know, the different casting what ifs and stuff, to
the kind of plateauing of Marvel in the recent years.
All of it's covered brilliantly in that book. So check
that one out. Paul says, have you watched Pluribus One
of your boys did a cameo. I don't know who
my boy is because I only watched part of the
first episode. So many people who I respect their opinion
(30:23):
on TV have told me I will love the show.
I'm not a big zombie guy. I'm not a big,
you know, sort of a you know, dystopian guy, so
those shows don't really.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Like stand out to me. I don't love them.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
I try to get into them, like I try to
get into the Last of Us Walking Down, et cetera.
I always quit them, and this, I think feels a
little different. And I know it's got Vin Skilligan at
the helm, but so far I've not been able to
get through the first episode. I'm sorry, so maybe I'll
give it another shot one day. I've just been lately
just watching land Man. I mean recently, I really only
(30:59):
have time to watch one episode of a show in
a week, which is crazy, but so I've been watching
the one episode that drops of land Man while also
trying to catch up on some movies I hadn't seen.
I just watched Frankenstein. I stopped to watch Trading Dreams.
Try to stay plugged in with that so I can
vote for the SAG Awards justly having seen everything. So
Mary says, Okay, Scott, go back and analyze the editing
(31:21):
was part was the finale, part two ending refilmed or not.
Word on the street is that they refilmed it because
the weather conditions were too bad, which is why TJ
wasn't there. I know you have the t don't hold out.
Someone said something about when Olivia was on the ground
hugging Jeremy saying I love you, she had a different
hair color.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
I mean, I don't know if the hair.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Color would change, because I would feel like if they
reshot it or had been shortly thereafter or whatnot. I
don't doubt that they refilmed something because the weather or
whatever it did look like it was filmed via a drone.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
I did notice TJ wasn't there.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
I also excuse me, I didn't hear what he said,
but I heard TJ commented on this, so by now
you probably have the explanation. But yeah, I'd imagine it
has something to do with maybe the weather being able
to get him up there. You know, they obviously climb
up there and the thing is living up there. But
I wouldn't be surprised if it was like unsafe to
have like regular folks or TJ get up there, or
if they wouldn't weren't able to get like a helicopter
up there or whatnot. But as I said, you guys
(32:11):
probably already know this by now.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Paul says, what is the last good reunion that you
tell people to check out? What makes a good reunion
in your opinion?
Speaker 2 (32:18):
I mean, I would never just like tell someone to
go check out a reunion. I occasionally one will pop
on when I'm like, you know, I throw on the elliptical,
I'll throw on the Pluto TV. And what's fun about
Pluto TV that you know, Challenge channels, they'll run through
a whole season and then they'll play the reunion. I
will say, they used to be a lot shorter and
more action packed. I think they they've gotten long and bloated,
(32:39):
and I don't think in a good way.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
But I mean, what makes a good reunion?
Speaker 2 (32:42):
I think, you know, obviously, it's great when they look
good and whatnot, and it's great when they you know,
there's a little bit of fireworks and whatnot, and you
get a little bit of tea, get stuff you didn't know.
I think podcasts have kind of taken away a little
bit of the luster of the reunion, if that makes sense, right.
So what used to be great about the reunions is
at the end of a season you would learn a
lot from a reunion because you hadn't already heard people
(33:04):
on forty podcasts talking about it. Now, for the most part,
the reunion is sort of like rehashing things that are
like sort of podcast cliff notes. So it's sort of
like the best of the podcast fodder that already the
Paul Schaylers of the world have heard, and then not
only do they film them and then air them on
a two month delay, that like you know by then,
if you think about it, it's like, whatever was top
(33:25):
of mind for Mikayla or Olivia or Sydney or whatever
that's airing tonight on Wednesday, December tenth. You know this
was top of mind to them in October when they
filmed the reunion, and thus it's probably something they tweeted
or said on a podcast shortly thereafter or whenever these
episodes aired in real time.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
So I will say that what makes.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
A good reunion is sort of maybe not even possible anymore,
because what made a good reunion back then from some
of those memorable reunions when they were even a bit
more finite. They didn't even bring it as many people,
and they were all wearing regular clothes, and was just
that they were sort of the one podcast.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
To sum up the seasons. That makes sense, Chad says,
just don't have an idea.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
We all miss Real World and Road Rules because we
got to know everyday people over the course of several
months before they migrated to the Challenge. They've done some
launch specials recently. Why do you think of an What
do you think of an idea where rookies for a
season fly out a couple weeks early and live in
a house together serves as the prequel to the actual
season of the Challenge. Lets us form an opinion, lets
us get to know to them like we did back
(34:23):
in the day, versus coming from all these shows and backgrounds.
Now probably wouldn't work for a thousand reasons, but wouldn't
at least be a fun idea to talk about. Yeah,
I mean, look, I wouldn't do a couple of weeks
I think. I mean, as is made clear by the
abbreviated shooting structure of let's say a Real World homecoming,
I think you could get this desired effect by bringing
them out three days early, four days early, and do
(34:47):
you do a whole series out of it? Maybe not,
but maybe you do an episode or two. I think
that'd be fun. I think they should get more creative
in general with additional content like this. I don't know
why they don't have the Official Challenge podcast for instance,
like on Paramount. I don't know why they don't have
you know, weekly after shows for instance on Paramount. I
don't know why Survivor and Big Brother aren't doing multiple reunions,
(35:10):
throwback cast reunions, things like that on Paramount streaming.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
And this is a great idea too, you know.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
I think, like you know, whether it's bringing out the
rookies who are fairly low cost to begin with early
and shooting content like this, or doing like a little
mini live together and watch some old episodes kind of
homecoming style stuff with recurring cast members. I don't know
why they don't do this stuff, so I'm sure they
have their reasons. Maybe they don't test well right well,
maybe people don't watch them, But for sure, it's a
(35:38):
good idea. Trevis says, great work on Survivor Mania, thank you,
And I did a full kind of you know, if
you listen to Survivor Maania this week I talked about
this weekend. It was so cool hanging out with all
these survivors, legendary survivors, newer survivors.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
They're all super chill, super cool.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
They love talking about the show, talking about the game,
meeting each other. It was really cool watching like them
meet each other, and like the adoration they have for
each other is really cool. So I saw many of
them show up to stuff like this because it's to them,
it's like they're almost like coming to a high school
reunion or something, or an alumni.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
Weekend, a homecoming weekend. I think it's a better analogy.
Jesse says, would love to hear about your time with
Sydney the other day, like anything interesting or fun or
tea worthy she may have talked about in terms of
returning for another season or Turbo or whatever.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Whatever you're willing to share, Okay, So Jesse, Yeah, so
hung out with Sydney at the Game Jets. Game Jets
were super cool. Shouts to Justin by the way for
setting that up. And it was me, Sidney, Jay, Ryan Leo,
and Michelle and then my son Brock came. What I'll
(36:43):
say about Sydney is I love Sidney. I think you're
hearing more and more like she has a pretty high
approval rating among the people who play with her and
know her personally. People who dislike her from Afar, I
don't think people like rookies who come in a little
bit hot and cocky.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
People who maybe.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
Don't remember her from Survivor or feel like they watched
her on Survivor and she doesn't deserve to have the
ego that she has.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
Maybe don't like her.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Then I think there's people who don't like her for
personal reasons where they feel maybe they feel like they
disagree with their politics or you know her.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
I'll just flat out to say it.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
Her support of Israel, I think could be very polarizing
among certain people if that's something you care about. But
I mean, I'll just say as a person, like, if
you hang out with her, you're probably gonna like her.
And I do like her, And it's funny that you
know her and Derek don't really seem to. I mean,
it's not that they don't like each other, but they
don't if they feel like kind of oil and water,
if you will, But she's more my type, and I
(37:36):
think I'm more her type.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
And that's fine.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
That's why Derek and I are a good mix, because
only you only have.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
To like one of us, you know. But so as
far as like future seasons, I will.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
Say, look, so I want, you know, I want to
keep things in confidence. She's been pretty outspoken about not
wanting to do another season. I think I think that
that may change. I'll say that, you know, I wouldn't
be surprised if they talk her into doing one, whether
it's forty two or forty three or forty four. She
does have a great job. She lives here in New
York City. She's a working attorney, you know, so obviously
(38:07):
it's hard to get out.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
Of that those commitments and things. But I would not
bet on her being a one and done. I'll say that,
you know.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
And as far as Turbo goes, they do not like
each other. That is legit emit. You may have seen
he blocked her. She does not like him. I wouldn't
be shocked if her prerequisite for doing another season is
I don't want to do it with him now, knowing
the challenge. God's it's going to be the opposite, you know.
But it'll be we want both of you or neither
of you. But you know, we'll see how that goes,
(38:35):
all right, Chrisy says, and I think I mentioned this
on the podcast already, but if you haven't heard it yet,
sums up Sydney in a nutshell. When the Jets posted
us or I don't even know if I was in
the picture, but them on they're like, you know, here's
what celebrities wre at the game post on Instagram. Instead
of like thanking them, she said like, you're welcome Jets
for my presence, So not even breaking character for a
(38:56):
thank you to the Jets, Chrissy says, Scott, please men.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
Explaining the beck test.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
For me, I'll admit I had to google what this is,
but I did know what it was. I just didn't
know if I name. It's like the amount of women
that are on screen and movies and whether they're a
large enough character and whether they're talking about anything other
than men.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
That is what the Bechdel test is.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
I believe you are phrasing it this way because we
had a large conversation about man splaining and man spreading
on the podcast recently, so you haven't heard that that's
the impetis of that question. Mary said, And by the way,
thanks for the kicks, Chrissy. I don't know if you saw,
but I wore them in Florida. I wore them at Orlando.
I think I'm actually if you look at pictures from
the panel, I think I'm wearing them that day. So
if you look at those panels I hosted, we didn't
(39:37):
even get any good pictures of me doing the Challenge panel,
but we took a group picture after. I think you
can see him in that probably, and then if you
see me doing that Survivor panel, you'll see I'm wearing
the shoes. Chrissy very nicely made me a custom para
and nikes that have like some Challenge Mania logos and
some art me and Mark and it's cool.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
And they were a hit. Who loved him?
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Somebody loved him best? He loved him. Mary, I have
so many questions. Scott have been holding on to them waiting.
Have you tried or would you consider trying to get
Turbo on the pod? That is so intriguing to me
would be great. I DMed him, he didn't respond. I
think he might be filming something. I think Derek's tried to,
So what hopefully we get them? Mary says, logistical question
(40:22):
for Derek or Scott if he knows. Are the interviews
and all the talking head stuff that we see from
cast members during a season done at the end of
their run. If so, what interviews do they have to
do throughout the show? Also, don't you think it would
be better and more drama if the cast members were
required to do regular confessionals like on Real World or
were a Big Brother? This would get in the moment
thoughts and opinions rather than the aftermath.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
So they do do them.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Scheduled throughout the season, so a lot of the interviews
are seeing are done like the next day. I think
the way that it goes is it'll be like daily
elimination interviews, daily elimination interviews, and there's an off day
in there in between or whatever, or when they're doing
the interviews, it's an off day for you when you're
not doing the interviews or whatever I use off day
(41:05):
in quotes, whatever.
Speaker 1 (41:07):
So they are doing interviews throughout the season.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
They also at the end of the season very much
so do a wrap up interview for people when they leave,
and you're often at that point maybe doing some pickups
as well. Maybe the producers on site know what stuff
they need to get from you. Maybe they just go
through and ask you about general thoughts about people and
things like that. Obviously, at the end of a season
there's additional wrap up stuff as well, and then if
(41:31):
they don't do this anymore, they used to sometimes fly
people out to LA to do a final interview as well.
What will often happen is, you will, once they start
editing this stuff, they will realize, oh, we need this
person saying this thing or the other. This is kind
of the missing piece of the pie here. Hopefully they
have it. If they catch it while they're still filming,
they'll have them do the pickup there, and if not,
they'll they'll bring them out to LA to do it.
(41:53):
So you'll often see that with and it's very easy
to kind of just match the look. And that's why
they moved to if you notice they all kind of
wear the same wardrobe throughout. They do that for flexibility,
so they can kind of, you know, fit things in
out of context, use them out of order, use a
pickup where it matches, and they kind of just have
to match the background, which is usually green screen and
(42:14):
whatever that one interview look to have for the year is.
So that's to kind of have the flexibility to plug
and play a little bit more, and they will often
do that, like extra interview with people at the end
where they fly them out sometimes based on scheduling conflicts
sometimes like if they wrap for instance, like maybe if
they wrapped in a country where they weren't fully set
(42:35):
up when they used to do finals in different countries.
And also just like if they have like a winner
that they just like definitely want to like get more from,
because you got to remember, sometimes these shows are not
necessarily you know, covering someone to the extent that they
then need to cover them if they win, someone comes
through as a surprising winner at the end or something
like that happens, whatever, you might need to fly them
(42:57):
in and completely kind of do an interview with them
now through the lens of the fact that they that
they want or you maybe need to get added conjecture
from them. Moments that you're going to have to inflate
or highlight more early on in the season because they
end up winning and sometimes they don't bet on the
right people. That happens too, and that ranges from show
to show. You know, everything I just said does not
need to be the way that they do it for
every challenge season they're constantly adapting or every reality show.
(43:20):
Every show does it differently, but that's how a lot
of them do it or have done it. Mary says,
any new announcements for Philly, come on, Tina. I don't
think we'll be adding Tina of those or that. So
right now, the structure is Derek, myself, Jody, and CT.
In Baltimore. I will probably have one or two additional
names in Baltimore, but it's gonna be like Trey and Cook,
(43:43):
and I haven't talked to Cook. I know Trey will
be there, so we just haven't announced him yet, but
like I'll be honest, it's going to probably be people
like that. And then Philadelphia, obviously we're leaving Jody back behind.
Unfortunately she can't come, although I did invite her, and
we're picking up Anissa and Philly. It will be me, Derek, Anissa,
and CT, and we're probably gonna have one or two
additional names, but it will probably be like an Ed
(44:05):
or someone like that, and maybe one other person. So
when we have a CT, I'm gonna be quite honest.
For the most part, you'll notice that the shows, you know,
with a few exceptions, you know, our sort of CT
is the bread and butter of the lineup in the show. Obviously,
for this one there's additional hurdles. We're doing the two
cities back to back and whatnot, so there will be
new announcements. But unfortunately, and I hope you take this well,
(44:28):
we're not probably going to be bringing in a Tina
for that, although I know you guys love Tina and
maybe you'll see teen at the next Philly show. You know,
it's just kind of how we like to spread things
out and when we have someone like a CT like
I'll give you an example. So this Saturday, we're coming
to Texas, and you got KA.
Speaker 1 (44:46):
And you got CT.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
Well, let me just tell you, you guys are lucky that
when we put this thing on sale, was not meant
to have CT at it. You know, Carl was meant
to be the headliner, and full disclosure, the tickets did
not move as well as I would have hoped. And
we had you know, Kara and Tina and Jeremy and
Jeremy and Jeremy and Justin, I should say, and and
so we added CT after the fact.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
Now that's why you guys are.
Speaker 2 (45:08):
Looking into a CT plus Kara dynamic lineup that has
additional names as well and maybe some surprises and whatnot.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
But that would not have happened in the other.
Speaker 2 (45:16):
Way, because how do we put CT on the on
the bill to begin with? That thing probably would have
sold out in a day or two like it did
when we added him, and then no offense, But we
wouldn't have had a reason to add car Maria and
all those additional expenses.
Speaker 1 (45:30):
Not that we don't love you guys.
Speaker 2 (45:32):
We're not trying to deliver tremendous value for you guys,
but you know, it is a business and we ultimately
are trying to, you know, give you guys the best
lineups possible while working within our budget. And you can imagine,
you know, sometimes the caliber of the guest comes with
a higher price tag overall, and much like the challenge
has people with high price tags and then people sometimes
(45:53):
with lower price tags, or people who are you know,
maybe even less of a bottom line number to begin
with because they live locally and they don't need or
hotel and things like that.
Speaker 1 (46:01):
We try to bounce things that way, so.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
We'll probably be local ish guests that are added to
Baltimore affiliated fill those out. Bronco Brad says, are you
able to actually avoid knowing who wins before the season
starts or do you know and are just great at
avoiding letting it slip? I clicked on something by accident
and found out in a comment section who won like
two episodes ago, which was annoying.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
No, it sucks and it's a minefield out there for
you guys. Part of the reason I will say, and
I said this on Survivor Mania the other day for
the challenge, part of the reason I flat out have
to know and need to know and find out is.
Speaker 1 (46:37):
Because of what you just said.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
So because we were not only a podcast, you know,
where we have people free flowing and talking about things,
but we're also managing a lot of pages here, whether
it's my page, Derek's page, our Facebook page, our Patreon page,
where people like to get cute and occasionally spoil something.
I have to know that they're spoiling something cause you know,
a lot of what we do here is also we
(46:59):
predict things, talk about things right, and so I need
to know the difference between someone getting cute and flat
out trying to ruin a season for you guys, and
someone who just has a pretty damn good prediction. You know,
sometimes maybe someone's just predicting something and it's so did
on that I deleted anyway, because I'm like just in case.
And that's why I love Survivor for me, because I
(47:22):
don't have that. I don't need that, and so I
don't Since I don't have that responsibility, I feel like
I can stay unspoiled, and often do, and spoilers are
less rampant in that world to begin with. But so
I love that I get to watch that show and
never know what happens, that I get to predict things
justly and you know, be right or be wrong and
get credit for it, and things like that, and the
(47:43):
way we choose to cover the show, and and just
is that I mean, first of all, Derek, I mean,
you know, like Derek is covering a show that he
was flat out there for, you know, and he's you know,
in some instances he's not there obviously this season he
was there for some not there for others. And then
I'm watching and covering a show where look, I do
know broad strokes and That's the other thing is I
(48:04):
know broad strokes, but stuff I don't need to know
in grave detail, like I don't need to know engrave detail,
like I'm still watching and finding out things the same
way you guys are, and that could be helpful because
it also tells me like what they want us to see,
what they want us to know, and whatnot. Occasionally I'll
hear that something happened, and then I watched the show
and oh, it didn't happen. They didn't show it, And
then I'll be able to kind of either bring up
(48:25):
on the podcast, Hey I heard this happen, Why do
you think they didn't show it? Whatever, or sometimes we
kind of maybe don't mention it because we know, oh,
they clearly don't want that to be something we're talking about.
Speaker 1 (48:33):
You know.
Speaker 2 (48:34):
So it's just kind of the way that the cookie crumbles.
It's part of the you know.
Speaker 1 (48:38):
I think it makes me better at doing my job.
Speaker 2 (48:40):
It helps me book the show, it helps me plan ahead,
it helps me police the comments and things like I
just said.
Speaker 1 (48:44):
It also helps us make sure that we never indirectly
or buy mistake violate that sort because because here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (48:51):
Right, on one hand, you would go, oh, if he
knows what happens, maybe he could spoil something and they
get in trouble and they try to show done the podcast.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
For me, it's the opposite.
Speaker 2 (49:02):
If I know what happens, I'm never gonna unintentionally say
or doing anything that looks like I'm spoiling something or
allows someone, whether it be a guest who slips Sometimes
we have guests who slip up. They forget what week
it is, they forget what episode it's on, and they
spoil something by accident, and I have.
Speaker 1 (49:15):
To go edit it out.
Speaker 2 (49:16):
And I wouldn't know to do that unless, like I said,
so Bronco Brad again, seeing when more guest announcements will
be made for NYC Sydney please already having my front
row ticket bought, but I bought personalized gifts for the cast,
so I don't want to leave anyone out. I can
tell you probably gonna have Ryan Keho there. I can
tell you that if she can get off of Night Court,
Sydney will be there, so hopefully your prayers are answered.
(49:38):
But I've already talked to her about that, and as
soon as she lets me know for sure, we'll truss
around the flyer, But those are two people I've spoken
to directly.
Speaker 1 (49:45):
But it's New York.
Speaker 2 (49:46):
We always have at least two to for, you know,
surprises in New York if not announced the guests. So,
Sean says, I have heard people theorize her guests that
Jamie Chung will be there because she got a card.
Like I said, I was not responsible for that one,
and I don't think she's coming. Who knows though, never
said ever, but I doubt it. I did say next
to ro on a flight once, she was very nice.
Sean says, do you think the show would be better
(50:08):
or if it's even possible for challengers to have to
sign like a three year contract for how much I
like Sidney?
Speaker 1 (50:12):
She's a wasted cast member. She's a wasted cast member.
Speaker 2 (50:16):
She acts like the greatest run runs her mouth, but
has said she's never coming back, so it's easier to
run a season knowing she'll never have to deal with
a follow up season. I'd love to see her against
Laurel Leacara, but that won't happen now, Yeah, I mean, look,
that's her saying that. So I think three year contract
or not. You know, you're gonna get people who decide
they want to not come back or come back and whatnot, you'd.
Speaker 1 (50:36):
Have the show.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
I mean, you know what I mean, Like, would the
wo a three year contract be two way? Would a
guarantee her three seasons whether she sucks or not, whether
she's not interesting or not. So doors got to swing
both ways, right. If the show cannot call you back,
you have to be willing to say no to the show.
I don't think the three year contract thing would even help,
you know.
Speaker 1 (50:54):
In fact, they do.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
Technically have that in that the terms of their pay
and then and that they don't go up until they've
done four or five or whatever, So in a way
that already exists, you know. I think that you're using
the Sydney example. She's like the rare instance of a
cast member who I think unconditionally everyone would like to
see back, or was good enough to cast again, who
(51:16):
has been very outspoken about not wanting to do the
show again. That doesn't happen a lot. You know, most
of the time people do want to do the show again.
Maybe she wants to do the show again, and more
often than not, it's the other thing where the show
doesn't want you back. So con spanatic Horn says, will
you ever get LaToya Jackson from Real World Saint Thomas
(51:38):
and the Potter at a live show?
Speaker 1 (51:39):
Hey? I would, I totally would.
Speaker 2 (51:41):
So, you know, during these off seasons, that's usually when
we dig up some of the ogs, some of the
people we've never had on fill those gaps.
Speaker 1 (51:48):
So that's a good idea, you know, maybe that's a
nice little person to sprinkle in here in the next
couple of months.
Speaker 2 (51:52):
Jamie says, do you think the show will continue going
forward with these wonky challenges and eliminations?
Speaker 1 (51:57):
You think they'll actually listen to us fans of the show.
Speaker 2 (51:59):
I apologize, as it has been asked, It's never been
asked in that way, but no, they don't listen to us.
Speaker 1 (52:04):
They really don't.
Speaker 2 (52:06):
And when it comes to eliminations, they do like to
reinvent the wheel literally, they do like to get creative.
So I think we're going to keep seeing eliminations that
are gonna sometimes be wonky, dailies that are gonna be wonky.
Speaker 1 (52:18):
You know.
Speaker 2 (52:18):
I don't think they'll you know, make them simpler, make
them more physical, go back to doing certain ones we
like multiple times a season.
Speaker 1 (52:25):
I don't think.
Speaker 2 (52:26):
I don't think that I think we'll move with the
other direction until eventually they pivot and decide let's move
in the other direction.
Speaker 1 (52:31):
Because that's interesting.
Speaker 2 (52:33):
Brad says, I feel like this has been asked before,
but this season's argument between Ashley and Anissa have me
wondering if a cast member is on a edicate medication
that isn't necessarily impacting their physical ability to stay alive,
like diabetes medication for Kyle et cetera, for example, something
they help with ADHD. Does production hang on to said medication,
distribute to the cast member or they allowed to keep
(52:54):
it with them themselves or is a big or is
it one big no go to even bring it? Now?
Speaker 1 (53:01):
They can bring anything they're prescribed, they can bring, so, you.
Speaker 2 (53:03):
Know, I think people get confused because so many people
make a big deal about that, like Johnny Adderall scandal.
I mean, if Johnny was prescribed for adderall and he
might be now I don't know, but then it wouldn't
be an issue. You know, it wouldn't have been an
issue then. I mean, clearly they didn't even see it
is that big of an issue then. But but I
think that, I mean, there's multiple people who are prescribed
for adderall and other ADHD medication.
Speaker 1 (53:24):
Yes, they hang onto it. The reason they hang on
to it though, is.
Speaker 2 (53:27):
For the other people not being able to access it,
to make sure they don't go through it too quickly
et cetera, overuse it.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
You know, someone steals it, et cetera.
Speaker 2 (53:35):
Does that mean that the person doesn't maybe sneak in
an extra stash that they're able to self medicate even
more so, or dole out to their friends. Who knows,
you know, But I do know they monitor it. It's
very one floor over the cuckoo's nest, right, It's very
like here, here's your ration for the day. But they
do stay on top of that, and mileage varies based
on the medication and how much other people would need
(53:57):
it or use it, et cetera. But they definitely do
monitor that. All those things do need to be approved.
You do need to have a prescription for it. Paul says.
You've done football games, wrestling events, basketball games, comedy shows,
and bowling events that are challenged related. If you do
any other type of live event and have a guaranteed turnout,
is there anything else you'd like to cross off doing so?
Speaker 1 (54:17):
I'll be honest.
Speaker 2 (54:17):
So when it comes to like having the football events
and basketball events be stuff that you guys can attend.
Speaker 1 (54:23):
I love that for you guys. I think it's cool,
But I don't.
Speaker 2 (54:25):
Even like the pressure of like having to sell tickets
unquote for that that's usually something the team likes to do.
Some of them are kind of back ending it that way.
You know, some teams just like having us there as
sort of celebrity guests and whatnot. They see the value
in that, Like that Jets game, we didn't have to
do a single thing, you know.
Speaker 1 (54:42):
And then other teams, for whatever reason, you know, it helps.
Speaker 2 (54:44):
Them to be able to quantify, like, oh, fifty people
bought tickets just to see these people. That's why we're
able to give them, you know, ten tickets on the
floor or you know, open bar or whatever. You know,
So that I mean, I would like, I trust me,
and I love that you guys come in and get
to see us do the stuff on the court and
things like that. But you know, having to like do
a meet and greet either before or after or during
(55:05):
or whatever, that kind of turns it into extra work
and stuff. And then sometimes, like I'll be full fully
transparent with you in Orlando. Ten people showed up for that,
so it's embarrassing. It kind of feels like a waste
of time. I'm sure those people loved having you know,
thirty minutes with you know, there was more of us
than there were of them, you know, but that's the
way the cookie crumbles. You hear me shit on Florida
a lot in this in this podcast, and that's kind
of why. Granted it was during the day ish, you know,
(55:28):
late afternoon on a Wednesday, things like that, And like
I said, Florida is a hard nut to crack at
tenants wise, but so I prefer to even if we're
going to continue to do the football games, basketball games,
first pitches, et cetera. I love doing the stuff on
the court. I love doing the you know, the photo ops.
I love doing the interactive stuff, the first pitches, you
name it, but the like when you say have a
(55:49):
guaranteed turnout, like a there's no such thing as that,
and then be like, no, I don't love kind of
having those be double as work, you know. I love
to just be able to relax and enjoy the game.
You kind of run around anyway doing all this stuff.
The T shirt tosses the trivia stuff anyway, So to
not even be able to use halftime to hang out
and have to like meet a bunch of people. As
much as we love hanging out with you guys, I'd
love to do that the next day at our event.
Speaker 1 (56:08):
You know.
Speaker 2 (56:09):
Plus we don't make any money off of that, you know,
not not to say everything has to be for money,
but sort of, you know, anyway, if you could do
any other type of event, I mean, wrestling, that's the
other I mean, so like, you know, the wrestling stuff
we do at BRCW, that's kind of the labor of love.
We do it for funks. We love wrestling again, comedy shows.
I wish we could do more of the comedy shows.
I wish we could do more of the roast. Maybe
we are going to. I know Cara is begging us
(56:31):
to do one for her for next year around her birthday,
So I think we're gonna do maybe the roast of
car Maria.
Speaker 1 (56:35):
So stay tuned for that. Those are always fun.
Speaker 2 (56:38):
I will admit though, that like to just to admit
to you guys like the comedy stuff. Anytime we do
something kind of outside the box, it does not equal
to some of its parts.
Speaker 1 (56:49):
Right, So last week I just.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
Mentioned, like, you know, only ten ticket people bought tickets
to that game and whatever it was seventy dollars and
you got to go to a magic game. And then
for thirty minutes or whatever before the game, they brought
you into a little sweet and you got to hang
out with me, Mark, Gabe, john A, Kara and Paulie.
You know, I think they gave you a couple of
drink tickets and you got to watch a magic game
for seventy bucks.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
All right, this might make me, might make.
Speaker 2 (57:12):
Me sound like an asshole, but like if I was
doing an event where you would meet all those people
and not see basketball, it would cost more than seventy bucks.
So I mean, but the logic you would think it
just doesn't apply, you know, because for whatever reason, you know,
I get, there's some other things. You're going to an arena,
Maybe you don't like huge crowds, maybe you don't like basketball,
maybe you're working on a weekday, maybe parking, whatever it is, fine,
(57:33):
let's play Devil's advocate the idea that ten people would
do that, and if honestly, if we did like a
Challenge Mania event with those people a few months promotion
whatever I think it would maybe if it didn't even
do well even by Florida standards, would maybe do fifty
tickets forty tickets, So four times the amount of people
would rather just meet them and not go to a
basketball game, if that makes any sense. Same thing with
the comedy shows. When we put a comedy label on stuff,
(57:55):
it does not drastically less, but it does less than
just a challenge Benia show. For whatever reason, we call
challenge Maani a laugh, we say comedy, we're telling jokes,
we're roast in his person, it just doesn't do as
well as just we're gonna talk about the challenge. And
as much as I love telling jokes and I think
it's funny and I think it's a great change of pace,
for whatever reason, it does get in the way. So
your thing about guaranteed turnout. Yeah, I mean, I'll just
(58:17):
flat out and tell you that if I knew that
I could sell as many tickets and you guys would
be as happy doing like exclusively roast and comedy and
things like that, I would much rather be doing that.
Speaker 1 (58:27):
You know the reason.
Speaker 2 (58:29):
The reason Sometimes you don't get to pick your path
in life, right, I always want to be like a
TV show host, talk show host, comedy comedian.
Speaker 1 (58:36):
Podcast or whatever.
Speaker 2 (58:37):
But I would love like this podcast or listening to
right now, I would love to be able to go
around and just talk about whatever I want. I'd love
to be able to go and talk about one battle
after another or the fact that Quentin Tarantino has been
shitting on Paul Dano and his performance and there will
be blood and talk about schalame going on Cody Rhoades's
podcast or whatnot. But that's not the hand I was dealt,
right I'd love to be able to go out there
and just tell tell jokes and whatnot or rose people,
(59:00):
but that's not the hand I was dealt either. The
hand I was dealt is, for whatever reason, the challenge
audience really likes to be served, challenge conversations, challenge guests,
challenge topics, challenge subject matters. And since I've been able
to turn it into a business, that's the hand I've
been dealt. So I try to find the little pockets
within a live show to get a jab in, to
get a joke in, to get a pun in, and whatnot,
(59:22):
And that's how I get to kind of cathartically I
get to sort of live my dream, but through through
this vessel, right, and you've seen me try to doubt,
you know.
Speaker 1 (59:31):
You know, we get to do the wrestling thing. But
again that doesn't mean we're.
Speaker 2 (59:35):
Gonna do twelve wrestling events a year, because again it's
fun for that night. But I can tell again to
go back to like the you know, like our event
the day before challenge accepted, the wrestling event had two
hundred people at it just talking about the challenge. The
next day, I tell you, hey, we're all going to
go watch the wrestling. It's again a fraction of the price.
Everyone could have just come and met Devin and Tory
and everybody there, spent a third a quarter of the
(59:57):
price and seen a wrestling show. But they didn't, you know,
because for whatever reason, that's just not how people think.
And so when you say, like, if you could do
any other type of live event and have a guaranteed turnout,
I mean it's like, I mean, if I could have
a guaranteed turnout, you know, then I would be doing
conversations and talks and things about tons.
Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
Of stuff, you know, and I would do a ton
of other stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
So a lot of this, you know, a lot of
the integration with the sports teams and things like that
is that's just like, you know, kind of dream stuff
for us to be able to kind of do cool
things that not even money can buy a lot of
people and a lot of experiences are even on the
table for regular folks to be able to go on
the court, kick off a game, things like that, feed
off that energy, get to you know, rub elbows with
(01:00:38):
the players, see warm up things like that. We do
that because we're huge fans of those sports and those teams.
Some people aren't, though, Like car Maria flat out asked
the person who worked for the Magic is this a
professional team or what league is the team?
Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
She like?
Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
And they thought she was kidding, right, And so, you know,
mileage varies on whether the cast members really care. But
a lot of them do. You know, Some of them
are big wrestling fans. Some of them could not be
caught dead.
Speaker 1 (01:01:00):
At wrestling, you know, some of them would. Some of
them would need to be paid to go.
Speaker 2 (01:01:03):
To wrestling, you know, whereas like I pay to go
to wrestling, you know, so anyway stuff to cross off doing,
and it's like, uh, you know, I think if you know,
you don't have to listed on here. But like, uh,
you know, we go to a lot of concerts. We
truly only go to those for fun. Occasionally someone might
give us free tickets, but for the most part, we
buy every one of those tickets.
Speaker 1 (01:01:21):
I love concerts.
Speaker 2 (01:01:22):
I'm a music junkie, so I mean, yeah, I mean
as much as much as I could possibly be involved
in the myriad of things that I love, whether it's
working for it, working at it, bringing cool people to it. Uh,
you know, you see me out there. I'm doing all
this stuff for fun. So as far as when it
can cross pollinate with the work stuff is great. But
(01:01:43):
like if you're saying, I take I have like I
ate like a magic bean pill or whatever. I made
a deal with the devil Regon it's stap my finger
and I could be doing all the stuff I do
for fun, but it also is like a business then,
you know. Yeah, But but that's kind of you're seeing it, right.
What you're seeing is the way that I'm able to
kind of take the hand I was dealt and that
(01:02:04):
you guys are giving me with the Challenge World and
the Challenge talks and things like that, sprinkle in all
the stuff that you've just named. But but yeah, I mean, look,
you would know it if those things had guaranteed turnouts
and whatnot, and those subjects in those worlds had guaranteed
turnouts for us, because we would be moving in that direction.
Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
You know, we'd be doing more stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:02:22):
But as you see, we keep coming back to the
challenge because that's what you guys love.
Speaker 1 (01:02:27):
Paul says.
Speaker 2 (01:02:27):
One of the plans for the off season not sure yet,
Bad Bobby says, bring back meet the Patron's here's.
Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
What I'll say. Plan for the off season.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
We don't have concrete one yet, but you know, as
somebody as Belatoya, we'll probably try to think of some
fun names. We're always looking for recommendations from you guys,
people to talk to. We'll try to catch up on
some of those New Threat interviews we haven't done yet,
your your Leos, your Sydney's and whatnot.
Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
Your Adrians. Try to have some of these you know.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
Obviously, have to do like a season victory lap with Olivia,
some people that we didn't talk to during the season,
and then yeah, find some ode, maybe get some more
suggestions from you guys, and find some fun ways to
fill the time because I don't think we're getting another
Challenge season until.
Speaker 1 (01:03:06):
I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 2 (01:03:07):
I would say the earliest we're getting it is the summer,
so as far as Aaron on TV, because they're.
Speaker 1 (01:03:11):
Filming it mid February.
Speaker 2 (01:03:12):
So but we got Traders in January, so you know,
Lindsay and I'll be talking about that. We got Survivor fifty,
which clearly we'll be covering on Survivor Mania, but you
know we'll be able to kind of really really full
into dive into that. You know, we want to have
the Challenge competing at the same time, which for you
Survivor maniacs will be fun. So Paul says, if you
(01:03:39):
could wave a magic wand at the start of the
season and have one pair win it, who would it be.
You can pick any two people, but they have to
be a man and a woman. They have to be
a VET and a new Threat. Just one pair doesn't
have to be the finalist. It can be somebond who
went home Week one. So I said this, I commented
on this. I'll say, that's an easy choice. So it
would have to have been Derek, because you know, so
(01:04:00):
Derek does not have that First of all, he doesn't
have a quote unquote single or pairs win to go
with his team wins. He doesn't have a win since
his comeback. He doesn't have a main season win without
the Kennys and the Evans of the world and whatnot.
Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
And I just think it would mean a lot for Challenge,
many would mean a lot for him.
Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
I think it would just be a big monkey off
of his back, a big weight off of his shoulders
if he'd.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
Get that win.
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
And selfishly, it's the one that I'm most directly tied to,
so for a million reasons, and I think the fact
that a lot of you guys would love it, I
gotta go Derek, right, So if Derek's the male piece,
and then you have to have.
Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
A female new threat to be his partner.
Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
Look, I think it would be disingenuous for me to
select anyone other than d just because I know she
was his partner, so I don't need to kind of
fantasy book this and pick a new person.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
I think D's great.
Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
I think it's cool that she stepped right from the
Survivor winner circle onto season forty one of the Challenge
if she had picked up a win there and then
goes to compete again on Survivor fifty. That's money. So
let's say D and D win this thing. That's a
double dose to D. Give me the double. D's last question,
Sarducci says, any plans for a live show in the
Bay Area this year? Yeah, percent, gonna make it happen.
(01:05:02):
Can't say where or when. I don't know what specific
part of the Bay area, but I've actually been talking
to some folks with the Oakland Athletics now the Sacramento
Athletics soon to be the Las Vegas Athletics, and we
love that area. We do far better up there in
northern California that we do in southern California.
Speaker 1 (01:05:18):
And we did not get there at all. No, we
did get there early.
Speaker 2 (01:05:21):
We went to Sacramento ish for a for a bowling event,
so we did get there early twenty twenty four. Man,
the year is so long that that feels like three
years ago now and that was last February. Well, but
we'll be back. Yes, we're working on Sarducci. Thank you
guys for all the questions rambled for a good hour plus.
Speaker 1 (01:05:38):
Hopefully you guys like this.
Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
Headed Challenge Mania Dot Lie for tickets Challenge Maniacs dot
com to support the podcast will make it.
Speaker 1 (01:05:43):
Worth your while.
Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
And yeah, happy birthday to anybody whose birthday is this week.
And by the way, if you guys have been following
that scandal with Quentin Tarantino shitting on Paul Dano, I
think Paul Daneo is pretty damn.
Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
Perfect and there will be blood if I do say
so myself.
Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
And check out Timothy Shalloon on the Cody Rhodes podcast.
If you thought he knew ball on College Game Day
talking about college.
Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
Football, which he did. I was very surprised with his
wrestling knowledge.
Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
Not to say I don't think he's watching every week currently,
but like he knows the shit.
Speaker 1 (01:06:13):
So uh, that was cool to see.
Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
I cannot wait to see Marty Supreme if you're looking
for some movie Rex. By the way, I've said it
a million times, one battle after another's great. Oh Golden
Globes noms came out. Shouts to Dwayne the Rock Johnson,
who got a nominee for a nomination for Smashing Machines.
Still haven't seen it, but I'm going to, I promise,
and I need to watch Train Dreams. As I said,
Frankenstein was pretty good. I dug it didn't love it,
(01:06:36):
but it was good. A lord he was was interesting
in that part.
Speaker 1 (01:06:40):
Wouldn't have thought of him for it.
Speaker 2 (01:06:41):
But you know, he he managed to get the physicality
down and whatnot. And Germo is a good craftsman. It's
very well made movie, of course, even if I'm not
like obsessed with the story or anything like that. And then, uh,
is this thing on? So I went to a screening
of it here in the city, got to talk to
Bradley Coop for about This movie is like a love
letter to stand up but it's kind of wrapped in
(01:07:02):
a relationship drama. So it's like, to me, it's like
marriage story meets funny people. Will Arnatt plays this guy
who is having a midlife crisis, just walks into the
comedy seller starts doing comedy. It's got a lot of
New York City comedy mainstays in it. Sam Jay is
in it. Jordan Jensen, who's one of my favorite local comedians,
is in it. She actually has a pretty big part.
And Peyton Manning is in it, has a cameo and
(01:07:23):
he's actually really funny in it. So check that out.
Will Arnett Laura Dern, directed by Bradley Cooper. I told
him this I minute, sincerely. They don't make movies like
this anymore. It's just kind of a movie that's getting
lost in the shuffle with like everything being Marvel or
streaming whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:07:34):
So particularly if you like comedy, check it out.
Speaker 2 (01:07:37):
Is this thing on should be in theaters soon, if
not next week, I think, And yeah, I cannot wait
to see Marty Supreme. So hopefully I'll get to check
it out next Thursday before we go.
Speaker 1 (01:07:45):
To Florida for the holidays.
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
Yeah, New York City, Chicago Bowls, We've got Texas weekend.
Excited to see many of you in Plano if you
were at the last one. The club has been completely
redone Hillary who owns the club. She owns the Microp
Comedy Club also in San Diego, which we love, and
one of our favorite parts about it is the decor
and stuff, and she assured me, you love it. Last
time we were there it was House of Comedy Plano
(01:08:09):
and the green room was like a fucking utility closet.
So hopefully they've updated that, she says. They have so
very excited to be there with you guys. Sold out
room CT Kara, Jeremy, Justin Derek, I believe Mikayla is
gonna come, and Tina of course the Great Tea ut Bridges,
so great.
Speaker 1 (01:08:24):
Show this weekend. Then we're done.
Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
We are done until New York on the twenty third,
then back to back shows Philly and Baltimore. Both those
are sold out, that's why don't mention them too often.
But we're gonna keep rolling through with the dates in
twenty twenty six. I'm really hoping to to not have
just gotten you guys addicted to that live in person
version of Challenge Mania. We did three episodes of in
Nashville and then we just don't get to it again
for a week. So I'm trying. I don't know what
(01:08:47):
we're gonna have to do. But you know, Sketch was
not available to come. Sketch Media is this a great
couple and they're the people who have helped us with
this whole mobile studio thing, and they are unavailable this
weekend to come to Texas.
Speaker 1 (01:08:59):
Then of course is not coming to New York. Then
we have the back to back.
Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
In Philly and Baltimore, which just doesn't really lend itself
to having extra time for recording. Uh, And then you
know who knows who might be gone filming the challenge
and whatnot, and what we'll have at our disposal.
Speaker 1 (01:09:11):
So I'm trying.
Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
I am trying my best to make sure that we
don't get you guys addicted to this new content we
can't really deliver on.
Speaker 1 (01:09:17):
So stay tuned. Hopefully we will have.
Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
You know, a way that you will be able to
look at us sitting on a couch talking to someone
because let me know your thoughts. But I just feel
like those interviews they flow a lot better. Obviously, selfishly,
it looks a lot cooler, it looks modern, it looks
higher production value, you feel like a real podcast. But
the other thing is, I just felt like the conversations
felt so much more organic. I feel like, for whatever reason,
(01:09:40):
when you're when you're when you're doing it remotely on
stream yard, you even know you're looking at each other
and stuff, you're kind of tagging in, tagging out. I
say something, you say something blah blah blah, and it
doesn't have the same vibe, even have like a slight
delay and whatnot. But so I just, you know, I
really want to get back to that as much as
we can. I set a goal of forty percent. Now
that doesn't even sound like a lot feeling a lot,
(01:10:01):
it's not. I mean, I would love it to be
fifty or sixty percent, but I'm gonna realistic goal at
forty percent. We're gonna have forty percent of our interviews
in twenty twenty six be in person.
Speaker 1 (01:10:08):
I'll be happy. I feel like we're on the road
to that pathway. So thank you guys so much, really
appreciate you, guys.
Speaker 2 (01:10:14):
Thanks to my lovely wife Lindsay for watching the family
and the kids from last Wednesday morning when I left
to Sunday evening. When I got back. I was gone
one of my longer trips recently. And like you know, again,
I did a little bit of work obviously a lot
of networking and whatnot and hosting the panels, but and
we have the Challenge Mania night at the Orlando Magic Game.
But other than that, it was really cool for once
(01:10:36):
to just be a guest at somebody else's event, take
it all in, really.
Speaker 1 (01:10:39):
Get to meet a lot of cool people and have fun.
And I couldn't have done it without her. So thank
you to Lindsey, and thank you to my kids for
being okay with me being gone.
Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
So yeah, and got them a couple of Hanukah gifts
at the Jaguar game that I had to wrap, but
hopefully I'll make up for it. All right, everybody, have
great week. Justin interviews up for patrons. It will be
up next week on the free feed. We did put
up a preview and we'll be back breaking down the reunion.
Haven't gotten it, so we're gonna watch it live and
we'll put up a question threat for you. All Right, guys,
(01:11:08):
this sends your time here on Challenge Mania.
Speaker 1 (01:11:10):
Take care of yourselves and hopefully we'll see in the future.
