Speaker 1 (00:13):
What's up, everybody? This is Scott Jyeger here with another
edition of Challenge Mania. This nice little, mini snackable edition
of Challenge Mania is brought to you by challenge Mania
dot Shop, where we have a crazy sale going on.
That's right. We mark down everything as low as it
can possibly go. That's right. We set the prices as
as low as thread lists will let us make it
(00:34):
so it is basically whatever their base costs for the
items are. That's what you're paying. We're making pennies on
each item. Go to challenge Mania dot Shop today. It's
a great way to load up on Challenge Mania swag.
If you're going to be attending Chicago Bowls on May
twenty fifth, Saint Louis on June seventh, Pittsburgh on June
the twenty eighth, Atlanta on July the thirteenth, Road Rules
(00:56):
thirty on July the twenty seventh in Los Angeles, and
many men anymore. Go to Challengemania dot Shop. We're going
to run this promotion all week long. All right, what
am I doing today, guys? I am going to be
letting you know who won the Challenge Mania Awards. As
you guys know, the Podsquad votes. Over at challengemaniacs dot com,
all paid patrons got to vote in every single poll,
(01:18):
and we had two categories that even our free members
were able to vote in. Remember you can become a
free member over at challengemaniacs dot com. That means you
get a lot of our emails, alerts, announcements, things like that.
Sometimes we even do a pre sale for you guys
before stuff opens up to the public. So a lot
of great reasons to go to challengemaniacs dot com and
sign up, give us your email address, and start to
(01:39):
pay attention, even if you're not going to be paying
a dollar a month. Now, if you do pay a
dollar a month, you get involved in our all patron
pre sales. If you pay fifteen dollars a month, you
get all of our bonus podcasts and content. You can
watch the full video of our New York show. You
get full gorgeous video of all of our interviews that
we do, and sometimes you get them up to a
week early. Over at challengemaniacs dot com. We are really
(02:00):
excited to be announcing the winners of the twenty twenty
four Challenge Mania Awards. Obviously we're already in May. Here
in twenty twenty five, we've had a whole other season
that has aired, that is All Stars five. We are
not talking about All Stars five. So remember, although subconsciously
it may have been in people's minds, this has nothing
to do with All Stars five. Twenty twenty four included
(02:20):
All Stars four and Season forty. So I'm about to
go over all the winners and when it is relevant,
So when there was a close runner up, I will
give that announcement as well, with that percentage and things
like that. So shouts to everybody who participated, and shots
to everybody over at Challengemaniacs dot com. I believe coming
in June, we're going to be announcing officially and putting
(02:42):
on sale our return to Boston, Massachusetts. So this might
be the first year hearing of this Saturday, September twenty seventh.
Very excited to be returning to the Beautiful City Winery
in Boston. Boy do we have a hell of a
lineup plan. Derek is confirmed as being in the house.
I know Derek has not been in Boston since two
one thousand and eighteen, our second or third show. I
(03:03):
believe it was our third show ever. In Boston and
he has not been back since we have been back.
I believe it was twenty twenty one or twenty two,
but it was me and Mark and Michelle and Tina
and some other folks I believe, Jasmine, Emily Fitzpatrick, Ryan Keiho.
We have a great lineup plan for this September twenty seventh,
and we are going to be putting tickets on sale
as always to Patron's first over at Challenge Maniacs dot com.
(03:24):
Just a quick reminder, road Rules thirty the thirtieth anniversary
of road Rules. This is as close as you're going
to get to an official Road Rules reunion. Mark and
I are pulling out all the stops. We are bringing
in as many people as we can, and we have
invited everyone else. So in addition to the people you're
seeing on the flyer that we're guaranteeing that we are
going into our own pockets to make sure we'll be
at the Brain improv on Sunday, July twenty seventh, there
(03:45):
will be other road Rules of lums in the house
as well. We've let people reach out to us directly
names blast for the past. I even had to google
it's going to be crazy. If you're a road Rules fan,
if you're a road Rules super fan, you have to
be in the room on Sunday, July twenty seventh of
the brand Improv And there are still VIP tickets available,
which as you know, includes that post show meet and greet,
so you get to mingle with everybody after the show
as well. All right, here we go Challenge Mania Awards
(04:09):
and for future podcasts, we are going to be dropping
some og interviews as we have a little bit of
a lull here before season forty one. They did formally
announced season forty one, although you guys on the inside
kind of knew it was coming. I believe it's already
been filmed. But they did a variety panel. I believe
they're doing the FYC the four year consideration push for
the Emmys and other awards programming for season forty. So
(04:29):
they brought out le Roy and Rachel and Anissa and
CT Julie Peazy justin booth. They did a great panel
hosted by our good friend Emily Longretta in Los Angeles,
which we will be in Los Angeles on July twenty
seventh for road Rules thirty. But they're obviously there to
represent season forty but coincidentally some of those folks also
on season forty one apparently, and they have announced that
(04:52):
season forty one will be back, will be coming at
some point this summer and will have Lee Roy and
Denisa and ct on it. So apparently Rachel not going
to be on season forty one, but she was there
of course representing season forty which she won alongside with
Jenny West and Jordan Wisley. So shouts to them. You know,
(05:13):
some of us kind of knew this was coming, but
season forty one coming down the pike, and as you know,
we will be covering extensively over at challengemaniacs dot com
and over on our Challenge Mania podcast feed. On the
free feed is where we put all of our interviews,
and we normally put up a free preview twenty minutes
or so of our bonus episode breakdowns. But if you
want to hear Derek and myself breaking down every episode
in detail, our plus taking your questions season forty one,
(05:36):
Challengemaniacs dot com is where you get that done. So
we haven't had a full cast announced, we haven't had
a date announced, although I'm going to guess it's probably
going to be mid to late July would be if
I had to guess, I'm guessing July on the early
end for when it would start, and maybe early to
mid August on the later end. I do know it
will one hundred percent be up and running by September.
(05:58):
I would say I would be shocked if it is
started by, say, August fifteenth. I would say it could
start as early as July fifteenth. We'll see news coming soon.
And as you know, when that cast is announced. When
that date is announced, the place to go to get
the full breakdown of the cast the second it is
formally announced by our good friends and Variety or whomever
is to go to challengemaniacs dot com. We love doing
those cast announcements, those cast breakdowns some of our favorite
(06:20):
podcasts to do, so stay tuned for that. While we're
waiting on that, though, we're gonna dust off some of
the older cast members we have not had on the
podcast before. We've got three coming up we're very excited about.
We've got Vinnie Fote, who I know is a controversial figure.
I did go back and watch episode two of season
twenty two, so if you want to watch that in
preparationals the last time we saw Vinnie on the show.
(06:40):
Very controversial and justifiably so controversial finish for Vinnie on
the show. Him and Sarah had to leave that season
due to an incident due to an altercation Vinnie was
fully responsible for involving Mandy. So go back if you
want to watch episode two trigger warning, I guess if
you will. I just want to throw that out there,
But go and watch it because I think it's a
snapshot in many ways at how different the challenge was,
(07:02):
how different it was handled, how different things were depicted
back then. They do very much, so get removed from
the episode and from the season eventually, but not before
getting to vote Mandy and Wes into elimination. And that
is after the incident happened, and spoiler alert, Wes and
Mandy go on to lose that elimination. It's a pole wrestle,
actually one of the more under talked about pole wrestles.
(07:24):
Wes goes head to head with Lee Roy loses what
Leroy wins both head to head battles the first round,
then Mandy wins the second round. Then you do a
tiebreaker and Leroy pulls out that so Leroy a big
pole wrestle win over West, and I'll just say it
doesn't get talked about alongside the other pole wrestle battles,
and Leroy doesn't really get mentioned alongside the Poul Russell
(07:45):
Kings like the Derek's and the West's of the world.
But big win over West there. So anyway, I digress,
go check out that episode. We are going to be
talking to Vinnie. I get that. A lot of you
guys are probably like, why why Look, Derek reached out
to him, or he reached out to Derek for whatever reason.
Derek oought it'd be a good I did to talk
to Vinnie. We're obviously going to talk about that episode.
We're going to bring up the scenario. Hopefully the man
has grown, and we're going to find out that's next up. Now,
(08:07):
we're gonna be talking to Derek McCrae. Derek McCrae had
a very short run on the Challenge, not the most
illustrious run, but he's running a great bar down in
the Jacksonville area now, and so we're going to talk
to Derek. He's one of the few gaps in the
sort of og range from those you know seasons, whether
it's fifteen to twenty five whatever, we have never had
him on. And then we are working on scheduling with Cheven.
Obviously Chaven very much more than that famous incident involving
(08:29):
the implant popping, but we are obviously going to cover
that as well. She's all the way out in Hawaii,
so we're trying to figure out scheduling. She's six hours behind,
so when she's ready to go, it's like bedtime for
us with the infants, So we'll figure out what's going down.
But we're gonna get her on the show too, So
look forward to those three OG interviews coming to you guys.
Obviously they'll go up on the main feed with ads,
(08:49):
they go up AD free challengemaniacs dot com. And they
will also go up in full video at challengemaniacs dot com,
or at least that is the plan. Occasionally people are
not equipped to do video or can't do video, but
whenever we can do video, it lives exclusively over at
challengemaniacs dot com, as does the full video, and it's
a great wide shot where you can see everybody on
(09:09):
the stage. From Challenge Mania Live, New York, May the fourth,
great show, gorgeous room, amazing lineup, Big Tea coming in
all the way from the UK. Jay a great surprise guest.
He is becoming a fan favorite before our eyes. Anissa Tory,
Rachel Tina, Mark keyho Me Derek. If you haven't heard
the show yet, go and experience hitting video for him.
Trust me, it's worth the fifteen bucks, and I believe
(09:31):
you can actually if you want, just purchase that show
a la carte over at Challengemaniacs dot com. So go
to challengemaniacs dot com. Really gives you a great idea
of what a Challenge Media live show is like. We've
got some great ones coming up. Chicago Bowls is one
of our interactive bowling events. There won't be a live
show or panel, but you guys will be able to
ask the cast whatever you want while you're talking to
him while you're bowling alongside him. But then we're hitting
Saint Louis with Wes and Amber and Frank Durell John
(09:54):
a amazing lineup. Then we're coming back to Pittsburgh. Hopefully
we have some more guests to announce. I believe this
week for Pittsburgh, Saturday, June twenty eighth and the twenty seventh.
I might have said twenty seventh earlier. The twenty seventh,
Derek will be throwing out the first pitch the Pirates game.
We're very excited about that. The twenty eighth, we're coming
in hot celebrations. It's gonna be awesome. Go get your
tickets to Challenge Mania dot Live. But I digress. That's
(10:17):
my pitch. Challenge Mania dot Live. When we come back
after the break, you're gonna hear a little bit from
our sponsors. When we come back, I'm gonna tell you
who won the twenty twenty four Challenge of Mania Awards.
All right, Scott Yeager here back to reveal who won
(10:38):
the twenty twenty four Challenge Mania Awards, as voted on
by you guys the pod squad the Challenge Maniacs over
at Challengemaniacs dot com. By the way, another podcast hopefully
coming to you later this week. Friday night, I went
to go see Sinners again. I know I'm talking movies
here and not talking. I went to see Centers again
for the second time, which I was blown away the
first time, but it plays incredibly well the second time.
(10:59):
If you have not gone to see Sinners, which I
believe just grossed over two hundred million dollars. Ryan Kugler's
new film. That you know, people are calling it a
horror movie and a vampire movie. It is way much more,
way more than that. It is. It is just an
amazing movie. The first forty minutes don't even have a
vampire in it, and that first forty minutes should be
nominated for an Oscar. It is. If you're a music fan,
it is. It is awesome. It's about the black experience
(11:20):
in America. It is. It is very, very cool. You
have to check it out. Anyway, if you have checked
it out, you're gonna like a podcast. I think I
have bruined with Kyland Young. He and I share our
affinity for Ryan Kugler's Sinners. We're gonna talk about that
movie and then if you don't know, Kylan Young is
also a Marvel super fan, all right, he is a
Marvel maniac. I also got a chance to see Thunderbolts,
which has now widely been rebranded as New Avengers. Okay,
(11:42):
spoiler alert. He saw that of course as well. We're
gonna talk about thunder Bolts to talk about the Marvel universe.
As well, so we're gonna do kind of a double
movie pod Sinners and Thunderbolts coming at you pretty soon,
myself and someone who is well represented in the Challenge
Mani Awards, although I don't believe he won any. Kyland
Young obviously one of the runners up of season of
season forty, so his consolation prize, if you will coming
(12:03):
on Challenge made to talk a couple movies with you. Boy.
All right, here we go. It's gonna work our way
up to Challenger of the Year. We're gonna start with
best podcast episode. This was one in a landslide forty
one percent episode at four to twenty two. If you
haven't heard this, Rasio sets the record straight is what
the episode is called now. One of the most controversial
moments of the season last year, both on and off
(12:24):
the show, was a Rassio and Derek's awesome elimination. Awesome
elimination that was overshadowed by the fact that it was
edited a very patchy way. People who watched it on
TV thought it was weird that some of Derek's pegs
had fallen out. A lot of cast members took to
social media saying they thought Rassio was robbed. Rossio himself
even spoke out saying he thought he was robbed and
went as far as to say they were helping Derek,
and so they decided to put everything to bed, put
(12:47):
everything in the rest. They got Derek and Rossio on
a zoom with a ton of executives and they did
something unprecedented. They showed them the footage, unaired footage, uncut footage,
every single angle of the elimination and them hearing the rules,
where in fact they did tell them, if you're fall out,
they do still count and please don't try to get them.
We will have someone to replace them for you. So
I highly recommend checking out that episode. We had someone
(13:07):
if you listened to the New York Live show, there
was someone there who, like didn't really understand the controversy.
It's hard to believe, but a lot of people just
watch the show, move on, don't watch or listen to
a lot of the companion content. That is a must
listen to episode to fill in a lot of the
gaps from one of the biggest moments of season forty.
A lot of people questioned why we didn't have the
elimination nominated for elimination of the year and that maybe
it would have won. I thought that was a little bit,
(13:28):
you know, counterintuitive to how controversial and honestly, how much
of a failure the execution of that episode was. We
had so many issues with the logistics, with the handling
of it and stuff. And while they did kind of
right a few wrongs with showing them the footage and everything.
I think this podcast winning is sort of the way
to have gone with it. We'll talk about elimination a
little later. Best hookup by a landslide seventy three percent
(13:50):
Brad and Emily, and we have Brad here to accept
this award. If you want to congratulate him in person,
he's going to be filling in for market Chicago Bulls.
It's going to be Brad Olivia, Derek Shapmanz who you'll
hear his name quite a bit here today Anissa and
mister Ryan Keho Chicago Bulls Sunday, May twenty fifth, come
(14:10):
full alongside your favorite Challenge cast member. But here we go, Brad,
what do you have to say? Oh, you know what, Scott,
I have to say. It's an honor and I accept
this on my behalf and on Emily's behalf. And yeah,
when I saw her looking pretty good, I thought, you know,
this could be a fun you know, forty five minutes,
or you know, if I'm lucky, maybe forty eight. But
(14:32):
I never knew it would come with an award scatt
and I never knew I'd be holding a statue here today.
So I accept this proudly on behalf of me and
m and thank you very much. What do you know, guys,
a surprise appearance for Brad Beorenza work on our way
to best couple. This is more than just a hookup.
This is Best Couple winners. Devin and Michelle won with
thirty one percent of the vote, but it should be
noted runners up Cam and Lee Roy twenty two percent,
(14:55):
so sizeable victory there, but worth noting the runner up
Most Improved, Derek Javes ran away with this thing sixty
nine percent of the vote. I think he would love
knowing that he won with sixty nine percent, And here
we go a Male Competitor of the Year. It should
be noted the runner up was mister Derek Chavez with
thirty four percent, just barely coming up short to Jordan
Weisley Male Competitor of the Year. He's won this thing
(15:17):
in the past. Jordan Weisley thirty nine percent of the
vote for Male Competitor of the Year, which as you know,
is due to wins and doing it on the field,
and he won the toughest season ever, and he won
Season forty arguably the most important challenge season ever. Even
though he didn't have to go into an elimination, I
think people still voted with their heads and not their
hearts and gave it to the winner of Season forty.
(15:38):
Female Competitor of the Year, Rachel Robinson beating Jenny West.
So Rachel Robinson thirty percent of the vote, Jenny West
twenty five percent of the vote. Both of them had
some great elimination wins along the way. Obviously, Jenny West
won the old fashion weight, Rachel coming in with the
karma vote, they still went with Rachel. You wonder is
it a popularity thing? Is karma playing part here? Either way?
Shouts to our girl, Rachel. We just had her in
(16:00):
New York and we love miss Rachel Robinson. Go and
check out her fitness tour. She's coming to New York
and Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles. Check it out. You can
get tickets on all social media platforms. She's got the
link posted. She's doing a couple of city wineries and
a couple of other great venues, a lot of challenge.
Who's who are going to be in the house, Tory
and Anissa and Shane. It's going to be great, Ryan Keyhope,
check her, check it out, check her. Congrats to Rachel.
(16:22):
Now best elimination, This one's really interesting. The winner ends
up being Tory beating Kara in the final elimination thirty percent,
runner up twenty six percent. Corey beats Derek and Fate
of the Gladiators. But guess what Derek was in two
of the nominees here and his I believe his other
nominee against Mark came in third. I believe. Don't quote
me on that. John Headles did not provide that. But
(16:43):
what I do know is that if you added up
all the votes were both, it would have won in
a landslide. So hey, they say this happens all the
time with the Emmys and the Oscars and things like that.
There is such a thing as vote splitting. So Derek
fans not knowing which way to go. Do we go
with the Derek victory over Mark, or do we go
with Derek loss against and twenty six percent. Just lost
by four percent and Derek looks like he's going home
(17:04):
empty handed this year. Probably should have settled on one
Derek elimination. I'm just saying, all right. Female Personality of
the Year winner Tina Bridges forty two percent fit of
a landslide, runner up with Michelle Fitzgerald with twenty six percent.
For Tina Bridges, if you heard her on The New
York Show, you know why. When she's on a season,
she's one of the biggest and best personalities on the show.
And that's why we loved Tina. Male Personality of the
(17:27):
Year winner Derek Chavez again, I'm sure he's gonna love
hearing this. Just barely beat out Johnny Banas. This is
the closest race we had. Actually one more that's actually closer.
I'm gonna get to do it in a second. Take
that back, but the closest victory we have Derek Chavez
winning with thirty two percent of the vote, the runner
up Johnny Bananas thirty one percent. This next category best
(17:47):
female return. So guys, remember we didn't have any rookies
debut in twenty twenty four, so what we did. We
replaced it with Best Male and Female Return. Well best
Female Return, you guys could not make up your mind
tied at thirty one percent on the dot co winners.
Viv Bruno hasn't played since she won on Fresh Meat,
and Carl Maria Sorbelo, the female face of the Show
comes back, has a great run, making the final on
(18:08):
All Stars four and then of course almost making the
final there on forty but losing to the Elimination of
the Year. In the Elimination of the Year, I should
say to Tory Dial so shouts to Aviv and car
are both winning there. Best Male Return, Adam Larson wins
with thirty six percent of the vote, edges out Jay
Mitchell I mentioned Jay at New York. Everyone loves Jay
(18:29):
Adam Larson. Hard not to imagine that people know that
Adam won season five. So who really rode this return
into the sunset and now is engaged? Of course to
the beautiful Avery Trestler thirty six percent, and I'm sure
Adam will be very proud to have won that award.
Best Reality TV Crossover went to c. T. Tamborello sixty
six percent of the vote. What a landslide. I would
have given it to Trichelle, but that might be a
(18:51):
bit of a favoritism on my end. I'm a bit biased.
I love Trischelle, she's one of our featured guests in
Pittsburgh on June twenty eighth. But look sixty six percent
the vote, it's hard to argue. You see t Tambrello.
He is chow chow coming through. People love the guy.
This was the only category you could vote for him in,
and the ct fans came out in droves. All right,
here we go, Challenger of the Year. Close race, thirty
(19:12):
one percent to twenty eight percent. The winner again goes
to Jordan Weisley. He's won this before, he's winning it again.
He takes home Competitor of the Year and now Challenger
of the Year. And the loser or the runner up
I should say, Derek Chavez twenty eight percent. Heart fought battle,
giving it to Jordan once again. Guys, thanks again for
everybody who participated. Really appreciate you. Guys. Spread the word.
(19:35):
We're gonna start posting some of these announcements on social
media as well. But a lot of fun stuff in store.
