How to study the Bible: IX. Being Unequally Yoked with the unbelievers. How do we unequally ourselves with a unbeliever/ In the world we live in today that has become easy to do, with so many that are living according to their own cadace, and not being obedient to the cross of Christ and the example of the apostles. Paul asked these questions, these questions should cause us to think: what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness or what communion that light has with darkness, or with what agreement that Christ has with Satan, or what part do the believers has with unbelivers, and the answer to all these questions is none.

Speaker 4 (36:53):
As I can.

Speaker 11 (36:54):
Now, I hope you do understand that it's not the
fact that I'm ignoring you, but it's just the fact
that we just get so busy try to spread the
gospel of Jesus Christ.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
Amen and a man.

Speaker 11 (37:24):
All right, all right, all right, my friend were here
the day. All you know is that time, what time
for the Oscar, Time for our chat? Of course, time
for our chat. And we hope that you still have
your ears on and that you're still listening to Broloscar

(37:45):
here on chatting from the.

Speaker 4 (37:47):
Word, my friend, we finday native to Friday.

Speaker 11 (37:51):
This is a new month, and this is August first,
and of course this is my birthday month, and August twentieth.
I'd be a a new age, a new age. They've
been older, and I just thank the Lord for keeping
me here just that long. We'd be three score ten,

(38:12):
which is seventy years old, and I just thank the
Lord for allowing me to reach set age. And some said,
with age come wisdom. I know some haven't received that
wisdom yet, I guess. But as long as I've been here,
I've learned a lot. I went to a lot, I
had my own struggles, and I thank the Lord for

(38:35):
allowing me to if August twenty had.

Speaker 4 (38:39):
Come for me to be here just that long, and
I thank him.

Speaker 11 (38:44):
I thank him every day for allowing me to share
this message of love, hopes of Asia with you. Every
day I thank him for that, and each prayer that
I offer up to him all been on my mind,
hearts and thoughts, and I try my best every time

(39:06):
I bring on the chat to try to help you
to grow in Jesus Christ this morning. And that's the
job of being ban is to be spread the gospel,
teach the gospel anywhere anywhere he can get to spread
the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. But let

(39:29):
me reiterate on this portion apart. I am still looking
for a place to work, but I also want to
go back to work. I want to go back and
behind the poor pedant preach and teach God's word.

Speaker 4 (39:43):
And if you are in a are you if your congregation,
I guess just the best way to put.

Speaker 11 (39:49):
It, are looking for a puppet minister or a minister
to be your servant.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
I am your man to do just that. So give
me a call, Give me a call, and some I'm
emma putting out resume resume out there, and I'm trying
to contact.

Speaker 11 (40:08):
Several churches I see in the ads for preachers of
the Church of Christ, and I am a Church of
Christ preacher.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
I don't believe an instrument of music. I believe in singing.
I believe in the elders and deacons being the head
of the.

Speaker 11 (40:26):
Being the elite Christ in the head of the church,
and they being in leadership and making sure that Christ's
work being done, and the evangelists teach and preach and
help others.

Speaker 4 (40:41):
To see Jesus Christ and him crucified.

Speaker 11 (40:46):
Okay, and that's what I believe, and I believe we
should minister to one another. Amen and amen. But before
we get into our lesson this morning, of course, you
know what brother Elsie going to say. Amen, Brother Oscar,
go ahead on and get relaxed, Go ahead on, have
your favorite morny drink, coffee, teine, milk, juice, hot chocolate,

(41:10):
cold chocolate.

Speaker 4 (41:11):
Knock the horse stuff, chunk that out the window. Throw
that out the window. You don't need that any kind
of way. Chuck that out the window.

Speaker 11 (41:24):
And if you and if you relaxed your reclining chair,
recline on out. If you're relaxing at tor dine on
that table, go head on and have a seat.

Speaker 4 (41:37):
But what we request of you to have as you
study a chat with us is a copy of a
word of.

Speaker 11 (41:45):
God, because that's all we're coming from is the word
of God, and nothing else and nothing less but God's word.
And that's what I continue saying here. If you have
seen that brother Oscar, have said something that's not according
to God's work, let me know, and I mean, and

(42:06):
I know many of you are not comm inter You
have poper disagree with some of the things I've said.

Speaker 4 (42:11):
Are the Bible to saying. So anytime you have disagreed
with me, don't agree with me, don't cut us off.
Let us try to reason together. And I as the
reason why most.

Speaker 11 (42:24):
Of us are not heading to heaven, because most of
us are so stubborn when they come to hearing the truth.
Most of us want to reject it, don't want to
receive it, don't want to hear it. Is it because
who's telling the truth or where the truth is coming from?

Speaker 4 (42:42):
Which is God's work? I just hope that it's not
those elements is the reason why you shut off us
here on chatty from the Word. But I hope now
I'm talking to a group of people.

Speaker 11 (42:57):
I love the Lord and love is Word, and we
share the methods of hope, love and salvation because that's
what we're talking about. Him chatting from the Word, we
bring it leftus that were healthy. We'll chatting about lessons
that would help you to grow in Jesus Christ. Get

(43:20):
that growth in Jesus Christ this morning, And we hope
and pray that y'all who have been listening to us
quite some time, we hope that you're doing that.

Speaker 4 (43:32):
We hope that you're learning Christ. We hope that you're
walking close with Jesus Christ on this jeutiful, beautiful morning.

Speaker 11 (43:41):
And Brother Oscar cannot put it no plaine under that.
That is my goal with this program.

Speaker 4 (43:49):
My goal is not becoming rich to asking for a
lot of money.

Speaker 11 (43:54):
Haven't maybe enough to Hey, provide for myself, but not
money to make me rich.

Speaker 4 (44:01):
Coumitt, Eventually you're not gonna be rich.

Speaker 9 (44:03):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 11 (44:04):
You see summ up there with millions and millions of dollars.
Other people are using the gospel. I'm not using the gospel.
I'm telling the others the gospel of Jesus Christ allowing
Christ to be the leader, the head, and our shepherd.

Speaker 4 (44:23):
This morning, so this morning, on the first day of August,
we have a beautiful chat.

Speaker 11 (44:30):
Of course, to some we've been this is not a
new chat because we've been chatting up this lesson for
a couple of weeks now.

Speaker 4 (44:39):
We talk about how to start the Bible.

Speaker 11 (44:42):
And manybody say, well, we're asking you've been talking about
this for the longest.

Speaker 4 (44:46):
My friend.

Speaker 11 (44:47):
The Bible contains sixty six books, and so if we're
going to chat about the Bible, we're gonna chat about
the Bible.

Speaker 4 (44:54):
If you want to learn the Bible, you need to
learn Bible. If you want to know Christ.

Speaker 11 (45:00):
But it's to his word, to the word of God
that we learn him intimately his word. And so yes,
please give that to us that time to exhaustively chat.

Speaker 4 (45:13):
With you by how to study the Bible call me.
He just don't know how. And I am so glad,
and I am.

Speaker 11 (45:23):
So delighted to be able to bring this lesson to
your listening years this morning, I really am. And right
now at this portion, we when we have been talking
about the patriarch Abraham, how God changed Abraham, name how
how God told Abel.

Speaker 4 (45:41):
Are circumcised.

Speaker 11 (45:42):
All that circumcised being token the covenment that between them
and between him and between them, and that h that
cutting off.

Speaker 4 (45:52):
Of a foreskin, which is circumcising.

Speaker 11 (45:56):
And of course we asked the question do we need
to be circumcised today of a foreskin as a religious matter, and.

Speaker 4 (46:07):
The abstitute that is, no, we don't need to be
cupercised in that matter today. And in the New Testament when.

Speaker 11 (46:16):
Circumcision is mentioned, it is talking about cutting off of sin.
It is talking about being a new creature in Jesus Christ.
That is our token today, is the life that we
live in Jesus Christ. That is our token, as we

(46:41):
called it the other day, token of love, because Jesus
themselves said, if you love me, keep my commandments.

Speaker 4 (46:48):
And I don't know about you. I love the Lord,
I love the Lord. Don't you love the Lord at
this point, and I hope you say yes, yes, yes,
by the Oscar, I love the Lord. And if you
love the Lord, live for him. Give him that token
of love, because he woke you up this morning.

Speaker 11 (47:11):
If you have read a beautiful age, he allows you
to reach that beautiful age.

Speaker 4 (47:19):
Give him the glory, give him the phrase, give him
the honor, and live for him. So this morning we
want to talk about the antidote of how to cut
off sin.

Speaker 11 (47:37):
And on yesterday we dive into a different if I
could use the word category of cutting off of sin
and second corrections, turn with me quickly to Shaca Correctiums.
And we left off on sacerd.

Speaker 4 (48:00):
Corinthians on yesterday, didn't we?

Speaker 11 (48:03):
And in Second Corinthians a sixth chapter, in the verse fourteen,
Paul is telling us if we want to be gift structed,
if we truly want to live for him, if we
want to be sanctified in his for his purpose and

(48:27):
for his nis, and to keep ourselves for him and
him only, Paul is saying that it is best for
us to be not unequally yoke with would be unbelievers.

Speaker 4 (48:52):
And then he asked these questions.

Speaker 11 (48:55):
He said, what fellowship, And I want you to think
about these questions.

Speaker 4 (49:03):
He asked the question what fellowship, what fellowship had righteousness
with unrighteousness?

Speaker 11 (49:17):
Think about that and the answer to that is none.
And then Paul's said, and what communion has.

Speaker 4 (49:29):
Light with darkness? The answer is none.

Speaker 11 (49:35):
Have you ever noticed when you come home and you
either go out to a restaurant or come back from
a trip, and you.

Speaker 4 (49:41):
Go to your home and it's all black, and it's
all dark. And we entered the room and you cut
on the light switch. What happened to the darkness? The darkness?
Anticipate the darkness goes away and the light shines through.
So what do again do dark light has to do

(50:05):
with darkness? Nothing at all. And then Paul said, what concord?
Concord has Christ with belt Ll and bell You know
who bell Ll is Satan? In other words, what do
these two have an agreement? What do Christ and Satan

(50:32):
have in agreement having concord? What do they agree on?
Not anything? Not anything? Remember when Christ came to this
world as a baby.

Speaker 11 (50:48):
You see what Satan did when Christ was hanging on
the cross or going to hang on the cross, He.

Speaker 4 (50:55):
Satan knew his mission he try to prevent that.

Speaker 11 (51:00):
So basically, Christ and the devil has nothing in common.
And I want you to think about that. I want
you to think about that, what do Satan and Christ
have in common?

Speaker 4 (51:21):
And the answer is nothing. It's nothing, thou fire. I
don't understand why most of us.

Speaker 11 (51:27):
We want to still deal with the world. We want
to still top our feet to the world music.

Speaker 4 (51:33):
We still want to talk like the world use worse juicy,
worse juicy. I believe I'm safe by saying that juicy
words as the world use. And we want to go
to the same places as.

Speaker 11 (51:53):
The world go to, and we want to still get
the hip hop killings in our bones move like the
world does. Oh, my friend, we need to stop allowing
the world to dictate to us. And what we need
to do is to be about Jesus Christ and him crucified.

Speaker 4 (52:18):
And then Paul said, what.

Speaker 9 (52:23):
Are what are?

Speaker 4 (52:29):
What part had he that believer looking in for their infidel?
Of course it's the office of a believer. INFI there
is a unbeliever. He's a unbeliever.

Speaker 11 (52:41):
And of course Paul here when he makes this statement,
he recognizes that sometimes we need we're going to need
to deal with unbelievers at work on our homes were people,
not families who don't believe. But here with Paul is saying,

(53:02):
if we are going to be strong in Jesus Christ,
we need to be around people that's going to help
us to be strengthen in Jesus Christ.

Speaker 4 (53:15):
A man of Oscar.

Speaker 11 (53:17):
But most of us, reason why we have so much
hang ups, reasons why some of us we cannot get
over some of the things we hung up on, is
because we are still hanging with those that got us
in that hang up in the first place. To like
someone that drinks get drunk, you think he's better off

(53:41):
dealing with someone else that's still getting drinking and getting
If he want to overcome that, he needs to deal
with someone that knows how to overcome back. He cannot
overcome drinking or getting drunk with someone that's still drinking
and getting drunk.

Speaker 4 (54:01):
All, my friend, are where's our veld oscar. If you're
dealing with someone, if you're wanting to hire a bad
mouth and love the curse, and.

Speaker 11 (54:14):
If you want to overcome cursing, but if you deal
with someone that they loved the cursing, don't even know
they are cursing. What you need to do if you're
not strong enough to let them know, that's not the
way to go. And then if you're not strong enough
to come back back, you need.

Speaker 4 (54:36):
To let them go.

Speaker 11 (54:38):
And although most today finds hard to let a best
friend go, some of them finding so hard not to
go around families.

Speaker 4 (54:52):
That is sinning and it's not easy.

Speaker 11 (54:57):
But what we need to do it is to do
as Paul says, here being the unequally yoked.

Speaker 4 (55:03):
Together together with the unbelievers and most of us.

Speaker 11 (55:07):
And I thought about this yesterday because I brought this
lesson to maybe twenty seven years.

Speaker 4 (55:13):
Ago, maybe over that time, longer than that. But when
we think about a yoke, a yoke, hy oke is
an instrument.

Speaker 11 (55:26):
Years ago, before tractors and the heavy equipped that the
dow forming came along, was an instrument to held a
team together to do the work.

Speaker 4 (55:39):
It could be two cows, to horses, to mules, but.

Speaker 11 (55:44):
The yoke was used so that they may be yoked
together to do the work. The yoke was used with
one turn right, they both turned right. With one turn left,
they both turned left. One goes straight, they both go straight.
And this is what Paul is trying to make us

(56:05):
to understand we should not be yoked together with people
that cannot as not striving to live for the Lord.

Speaker 4 (56:14):
Our strength comes from those that I was striving to
do what's right.

Speaker 11 (56:22):
I don't understand why many of us in the Body
of Christ fish in this area data the Church of
Christ is coising this doors.

Speaker 4 (56:31):
We should try our best.

Speaker 11 (56:34):
To keep the doors of a body of Christ open,
and if one body of Christ is having trouble, we
all should be able to lend a.

Speaker 4 (56:44):
Hand to help that church.

Speaker 11 (56:47):
To understand God's will. Ask can say they don't get
upset with me.

Speaker 4 (56:54):
I'm just a messinger and we need to stop hating
on each other because I dont going to Heaven.

Speaker 11 (57:03):
To me is so important now and not thing it's
important to Jesus Christ, or that what Jesus wants too.
He wants us all to be saved and coming to repentance.
That's why Jesus died on the cross, so that all
woo of us can be saved in his one body

(57:23):
and be unified.

Speaker 4 (57:25):
A man ber the oscar.

Speaker 11 (57:28):
But i's so many of us in the Body of
Christ having hatred for one another. If so many of
us a downing each other. If so many of us
cannot see eyther eye on doctrinal issues, we're not hurting ourselves,

(57:48):
but were closing out the kingdom to those who would
believe and understand the truth.

Speaker 4 (57:55):
We're hurting the cause of Christ.

Speaker 11 (57:58):
And if you love Christ, you will go back, especially
if you and the Body of Christ are not being
in obedient to the word. Go back to the word,
study it and see what Christ want you to do,
so that you may keep that the doors open. And
we got to give each other. We got to help

(58:18):
each other. We can't destroy each other. And that's the
bad part about us half the time. But my friend,
if you're not helping each other, be strong. You know what,
if you're not helping each other to see Christ Jesus,
you know what what you are. You're not a Christian,

(58:39):
but you are belly hell believer. Because christ Believers would
love each other. Christ believer will be talking about unified
Christ believer will do the best for the gathering that
they are act. They will allow growth to happen in
Jesus Christ.

Speaker 4 (59:00):
Amen and amen. So Paul is telling us here.

Speaker 11 (59:08):
That if we want to mature in Jesus Christ, we
need to be careful of who we surround ourselves with. Okay,
we need to be careful who we surround ourselves with.

(59:34):
And sometimes people that we surround ourselves with some don't
care if you try and go in Jesus Christ.

Speaker 4 (59:42):
Some of themselves are christ. In Jesus Christ, someone's to laugh.
Look at him. He's a Christian.

Speaker 11 (59:49):
He can't sing the same songs I'm singing, drinking the
same juice I'm drinking. Oh, you know what I'm talking about,
you know, bro, just talking about We're gonna be the last,
our last statement for this morning, and we're so delighted
to be able to bring this program to our ways.

Speaker 4 (01:00:10):
So to talk about Jesus Christ with you.

Speaker 11 (01:00:12):
And that's what we're talking about, Jesus Christ and him crucified.

Speaker 4 (01:00:16):
And we hope and pray that over time that may
of you have accepted Jesus Christ and had been daddy
to the body of Christ to.

Speaker 11 (01:00:24):
Come out here believe, repenting, confessing and being baptized, and
Baptists will place you, add you to the family of God,
to the body of Christ, to the body of God,
which is Jesus Christ. That being obedient to Christ's teachings

(01:00:44):
and following.

Speaker 4 (01:00:46):
The example of the Apostles.

Speaker 17 (01:00:50):
And so, my friend, we hope this weekend, this Sunday,
if you are learning something from us here, that you
go to Sunday seek out the Church of Christ.

Speaker 11 (01:01:03):
Those that do not play instruments, those that being going
to be into God's word and following the example of
the Apostles. And that's what we believe here on Chatty.

Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
From the Word, and you will see us. I hear
real Aska, you might see us. We might bring our
youth our YouTube TV before we're back on Monday. So,
my friend, we hope that you all have a good weekend.
Praise to Ward on Sunday.

Speaker 11 (01:01:33):
And on Saturdays too, again to studying God's word, love him,
learn him and love him.

Speaker 4 (01:01:41):
On this beautiful, beautiful weekend.

Speaker 11 (01:01:43):

to be a part of your morning. We pray with me,

be thy name? What? We want to thank you for
being putting us in this ministry for all. We want
to thank you for allowing us to teach us, to
preach your word or paraly keep us on the battlefield,

(01:02:05):

of your word.

Speaker 4 (01:02:10):
And Far we pray for all your listeners.

Speaker 11 (01:02:12):
