out at our regular scheduled time, this on SAT. But
you know what, we have so much to talk about.
(02:04):
You know, Look, I have to get the apology out there, guys.
I know, I know Saturday was a bus I was
not able to do the show, but I have a
valid reason, sports loveliest, Look, it was my twenty eighth
wedding anniversary, so I had to spend time with my
boot thing, right, I had to do the little stay caction.
But look, sports lovelies, I want to know this. It's
(02:25):
staycations a thing. I was pleasantly surprised.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
And let me tell you this.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
The background of our staycation. We definitely wanted to kind of,
you know, stay at home. We didn't really have time
to do the normal or the usual thing of going
somewhere on a Allen, you know, with me sitting on
the beach, you know, drinking my peanut colada, the usual suspects.
So whatever you want to say or you know that,
(02:52):
I love to do and love to drink, but most importantly,
I just enjoyed spending time with my significant other. I
will say twenty it's just very is a very very
long time for like eternity. But it was a beautiful
things for slutly.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
So here's the thing.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
My husband wanted to do this staycation was like, look,
let's recreate our first honeymoon. And trustingly, twenty years ago,
you know, a young y Carr who was just trying
to figure out life and everything else to being a
young mom. We didn't have a lot of money, so
we definitely wanted to do something a little different, you know,
(03:30):
this time around. So the first time, our first honeymoon,
we stayed at a hotel in downtown Atlanta, and we
really had the best time of our life. We rode
the horse carriages, I know they don't we don't really
see a lot of those anymore. We just hung out
in the city. I think it was Planet Hollywood or
(03:51):
I can't even remember what was it, Planet hot Hollywood
or no, it's not there anyway, but it was like
the best time, you know for us just to be
together and enjoy each other's company. So we did stay
and you know, the same hotel twenty eight years later,
and my takeaway from that experiences. I really, you know,
(04:14):
am digging my significant other right now. Okay, now ask
me next week. I may not have that same.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
I used.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
Just kidding, I'm just kidding. But second takeaway is, yeah,
I love Atlanta. There's no other place I would rather
be than Georgia. Okay, this is my home. This is
where I love this home. Movie always Atlanta will always
to be home. I'll forever be four all four. But
(04:43):
I definitely wanted to put it out there about these staycations.
Seems to be a thing. I've had friends kind of
co sign on what we should do and where should
we should stay at.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
You know, YadA, YadA, YadA.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
I'm like, but I would rather be on They're all
and so we're sipping my pancle. Lot of it sucks
on a bat That's what I love drinking.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
But you know, look, it.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
Really was a wonderful time just being together and I
really truly enjoyed it. Shout out to our hotel, the
Maria where keys. Those employees were really, really, really thoughtful.
We had a few bumps and humps along the way,
but they really did and went out their way to
(05:28):
accommodate us appropriately for our very short stay now.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Look, I know I had to get back to you,
guys who guts lesson.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
We got too much to talk about. So much was
happening while I was on my stadacation. I was like,
oh my gosh, I mean tweeting right now.

his shocking kidney cancer diagnosed more than a year after your.

Yes, look, retired NBA legend Dwayne Wade, He's opened up
for the first time I made about a life changing
health scare now. This happened on his latest episode of
this podcast, The Why with Dwayne Wade. Forty three year

kidney after discovering a cancerous tumor thirteen months atoll. Wait
(10:06):

after putting off routine physical as as for several years.

family to see you weep, he admitted.

out to d Wade. You know nothing but positivity will
be laid upon him and a speedy recovery right. You know,
I know this is like thirteen months ago, but I

Speaker 5 (11:27):
You know, just because you're a product of your parents,
do not make you just like your parents. Children can
make mistakes and children often do make mistakes. I can
say that for my kids, I can say that for
me being a child of my parents.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Right. But here's the thing.

Marcus Jordan, thirty four years old, son of legend Michael Jordan,
was arrested early on Tuesday in Florida on charges of
cocaine possession and driving under the influence again and Jordan
was trying to a possession of cocaine and resisting an
officer without boleance. He was booked into the Orange County
(12:05):
Jail and later released on bud U punished release. Jordan
has declined to speak to reporters now. As of right now,
neither Michael Marcus Jordan nor his representative have issued a
public statium a statement regarding his arrest. Now here's the
things firs loveliest wishing again another person is on their
(12:27):
healing journey as well.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Marcus Jordan.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
I know that we've had quite a few, you know,
scandalous topics with him and Scottie Pippen's ex wife, and
they seem to be an item and not so much
an item anymore.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
But here's the thing. Sounds like it's time.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
You know, time to rid of those demons, whether it's
in counseling or whether it is just going out to
just do a woosaw moment and figure it out. You know,
nothing but positive things had it his way. We're sending
it out, putting out there in the atmosphere because again,
we are all people. We've made mistakes, not condoning behavior,
(13:07):
not doing it spirtual love any But here's the thing.
Just now, we all aren't we all are not We
are not perfect. So yeah, Mark is I hope that
you know, figure these things out. I'm pretty sure you know,
his father can help him through whatever his struggles is.
And if not, I'm sure he cans.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
He has the access to attack.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
That sens Hello, coins up, the coins, up, the coins,
up the coins. But you know sometimes parents are that's
my coins, not true, you know what I mean, this
is my coins.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Not jealous. I played basketball notch.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
When I die, you luckily if you are in my
will not to say that's the case. But you know,
I'm just putting out there could be a situation that
could be a you know, supportive father. I don't know,
we don't know. We're just regulating here. But here's the thing, guys,
most importantly sending positive vibes out to markets Jordan. Hopefully
(14:07):
he can figure this thing out and figure it out
quickly before things turn for the worst.

This is a time. I will say this, guys, I did.
Here's some negative feedback and I was like, well, let's
that was so loud.
Speaker 6 (17:01):
Why you gotta be all naked tail? Why you gotta
say stuff like that, like go sit down and have
back way back there by yourself and I fat just
turn around, go sit in a corner. We don't want
to hear that look back. But now, seriously, this is
a great time for all the fans. I'm up the
(17:22):
city of Atlanta. They've come out and showed their support for.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Look and just the team. Beiji, you know, went through
her trials and her triplations.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
She's here and she basically said the reason why she
was coming to Atlanta was because of Ryan Howard, you know,

This is going to be bad.
Speaker 5 (18:12):
I am just so super excited about what the future
holds for our Atlanta Dream. Now, when you think about
the Atlanta Dream, what do you think about I think
about the future, you know, I think about the future
of these women who especially the women who sat down
and paved the way for these ladies to be where
(18:32):
they're at. But most importantly, we're killing it in the
city and it is going to be great, So I'm
not mad at it. In fact, I'm so super excited
about what is to come. And that's you know, that's
all I got. That's all I got, And this is

both women basketball and of course sports foot where Nike
has unveiled Aja Wilson's first sennature shoe, named the Nike
A one, ahead of as much anticipated release.
Speaker 7 (19:41):
Now.
Speaker 5 (19:41):
Wilson, a two time WNBA MVP and central figure for
the Los Vegas aces. She has cemented her legacy not
only gonna come, but also look in the sneaker culture.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
I'm on board with this. But here's the thing. Asia.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
On February second, the former her Gangcock was honored with
her number twenty two jersey retirement ceremony on February second
in South Carolina. This is going down for Agia. I'm
so happy for her. This is a great accomplishment and
look super proud about her everything she got going on.
(20:18):
As far as her shoe goes, she did mention the
shoot incorporated personal touches like pearl martifs, a nod to
necklace getting by her grandmother, and a Celtic symbol for
a mom and dad, celebrating her family's influence on her career.
I'm super excited. Yes, let's go, Asia, let's go, and sneakerheads.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
I saw the shooting. Not too bad, not too shabby.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
You know, lately, I've been filling my inner sneaker head,
and I've been you know, getting some new kicks here
and there, because look, once.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Upon a time, I was a sneakerhead. Gal.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
I love me some tennis shoes, and it seems like
I'm going backwards to that I'm kind of still loving
my heels, still loving my girly girlies, but snakers seemed
to be where I'm at right now.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
So if you might see me with some.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
ASILs or Asia ones, yeah, a one, I might have
that one, so you know, don't count me out.

You might see it.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
But most partly again, congratulations, salute.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
To the future for Asia Wilson.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
Yes, now, look, guys, my last story, I had to
say this because this is so freaking amazing and we
just you know, give the shout outs to the parents.
You know, every parent who has took the time out
to take care of their kids and just love on
(21:46):
their children and just invest in their future rate just
invest in fast. So injuries, she was able to pay
off her mom's mortgage with MacDonald's senature meal cash. Now,
this is crazy, because this is so inspirational. You know,
it's just to tell us success, gratitude about family. Angel Reese,
(22:08):
the Chicago Sky stand out for it used her earnings
from her mat donald sittingature meal to pay off her
mom's mortgage.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
Now, this again was a heartfelt gesture.
Speaker 5 (22:17):
Was really doing a special episode of her podcast Unapologetically Angel,
leaving her mother. Angel webbrees and tears of joy. I
am loving at I'm just love it at, positivity all
the way around, you know, swears lovelies. This has been
nothing but love, love, love love.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
I'm loving it.
Speaker 5 (22:38):
And you know what, Angel Reathes, keep doing it, keep going,
keep doing what you need to deal. Of course, Angel,
she's known for her dynamic presence on the basketball court.
Of course, she made history as the first female I
believed to have her own mat. Donald Mills dubbed the
Angel Reaths Special and the meal It featured barbeque bacon,
quarter pounder with cheese, large fries, and hot seat orange
(23:03):
lava burst. Not only that became a fan favorite, but
also a very lucrative venture for Reese. Keep those coins going, girl,
keep them going. And you know what, I'm going to
end on that positive note for our WNBA news. Now, guys, listen, listen, listen.
(23:26):
I know, I know, I know, wa NBA. The season
is slowly coming upon us, and I want.

and it's just going down and I can't wait you know, look,
Angel Reese, Kaitlin, and I have to give a shout
out to Kaitlyn.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
You know, she Klen Clark. She had sat a couple
of weeks back.
Speaker 5 (24:02):
She had a knowledge her privilege and at the end
of the day, you know, I know a lot of
people have a lot of things to say, but I
definitely want to say we are supporting all not one,
not two players, but all of the players in the
w NBA. Okay, that's what it is because we're all
(24:26):
about the wo Okay. Now, guys again, don't forget check

the value of your personal injury claim by focus on

healing catastrophic personal injury primis in personal liability, serious auto
(25:22):

Speaker 3 (25:53):
My god, Oh no she didn't.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Oh no she didn't. Oh I know this one for dny.
Speaker 5 (26:08):
Okay which lovely East Master mator o G moment is
upon it saying I had to just end with this
with our smjor o G. The trade that was heard
around the world. Ad to the maps, look to the
Leatos blockbuster NBA trade.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
It just sent shockwaves all across the world.
Speaker 5 (26:25):
Anthony Davis, look, God, Donna, look, it was a stunning
move that hasn't so many shockwaves. Of course, I'll tell
you I was on my bak action when all of
this happened, but I kind of came in late, but
I did see it.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
I did tweet it a little bit later than normal.
But it's okay. A girl is allowed to rest.
Speaker 5 (26:48):
But back to the story at end, of course, in
the stunning move that again just sent shockwaves through the
basketball community Los Angers.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
Lakers. They traded Anthony Davis to.
Speaker 5 (26:59):
Dous map This change for Luca Donna, This jaw dropping
trade again, it just immediately reshaped the future of both
franchises and raised the countless question about how each team
will adapt to their new roster dynamic. You know, maps
Ad they secured a premier two way player known for
(27:20):
his defensive prowess and his scoring abilities. You know, pearing
Davis with Kyrie creates a firmative duo. But however, Davis
does have injury history, right, could be a concern. You know, Lakers,
they're welcoming a new era with Donald now, Luka it is,
(27:49):
let's not get a choice. He's an exceptional playmaker. Scoring
capabilities make him ideal candidate to carre the franchise moving forward.
But the move also prompts speculations, Right, what about Lebron
James future with the team? What's gonna happen? This could
be an inkling up. Forty year old Lebron has previous
(28:12):
hinted at a possibility of retirement in the near future,
of course, he said in November, he stated, I'm not
going to play that much longer. To be completely honest,
so the rival of Luca could be seen as the
Lakers preparing well the future without James, leading many to
question whether this trade indicates that retirement is closer than

My next guest received her NBA from Harvard Business School.
After what she worked at General Mills and the Coca
Cola Company. She began her career as an entrepreneur to
leverage her industry and consumer knowledge to build valuable ideas
centered on food and family sports levelies. Please welcome founder
and CEO of Living Erica Total to Jickson spool.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
Erica.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
Welcome, Welcome to JICKSI Sports. Can you just tell me
what inspired you to create Living and how does your
background influence the way the company serves active families.
Speaker 7 (30:56):
Yeah, great question, and thank you so much for having me.
I'm excited to have this conversation. So I really became
more interested in starting something like living when I was
challenged with my own young at the time but increasingly
active family and finding ways for us to eat well.
I had grown up in a household that really you know,
(31:18):
valued coming together over a meal, a home cooked meal,
you know, fresh ingredients, thinking about our nutrition through food,
all of those things. And as I got older and
I you know, started building my own family with my
husband and had my own you know, job and career
that was growing, I just found that the time pressures
that I had on me, uh, really made it difficult
(31:41):
to manage meals well. There were a lot of options,
and we tried many of them, but none of them
really provided us with the nutrition, the convenience, and also
the enjoyment that we were looking for. And so Livin
really came out of that challenge that upbringing and my
desire to help only was like my own you know,
(32:01):
affordably have better meals in the home without having to
do it yourself. And so that's what Yeah, So that's
what we do. And my background, as you asked, was
really in the food space. So I started off actually
my first job at college was in services. I was
at American Express. But after grad school, I did want
to go into food and I wanted to go into
(32:21):
brand management to manage a business holistically, and so that's
what I did. I went to General Mills, got a
lot of exposure exposure excuse me, to the food business
and how it operated, how convenient foods operate. But then
I also had the opportunity to come down to Atlanta,
which is where I am now, and work at Coca Cola,
and there as well, I ended up leading the Coca
(32:44):
Cola brand food strategy, so thinking about moments of food
and Coca Cola, and so my team spent a lot
of time on that and just learning kind of the
continuous struggle people had with food and nutrition and convenience
and seeing it in my own life, not only through
my career, but through raising my family, it became very
clear that this was something I needed to do.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
I love it. I love it now.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Of course, I just want to jump in and talk
a little bit about the parents of young athletes and
how they've kind of struggle with mill preps just due
to their headtic schedules.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
Now, how does live and help alleviate some of that
stress while Issuran kids can get that nutrition that is needed.
Speaker 7 (33:24):
Yes, absolutely, So I myself am in face with this.
So my son is very into soccer and so his
schedule is now all soccer. Yes, yeah, and so we
are in the thick of that, and I do use
living and so it's been amazing for us as a
family because what happens is you're either at practice, or
(33:46):
you're at a tournament, or you're at a game, and
often those can take all day, and so right the
alternatives really are drive through if you want something quick
and easy. Sometimes you might have something in the freezer
or something in the fridge that you have or have ordered,
and the reality is that those things do not provide
you the nutrition that you or your child who is
(34:07):
very active needs. And I always tell people, I'm like,
you know, think about the last meal kid's meal you
ordered and was there anything green? Was there a vegetable
in there anywhere? Probably not? And so Livin really does
focus on fresh ingredients, but also you know, ensuring that
there is a balance there so that you do have
the vegetables, you do have lean proteins, that sort of thing,
(34:29):
and you have the option to customize. Right when you
have someone coming into your home as living chefs, do
you can customize for you know, maybe they do need
extra protein for their sports schedule, maybe they need extra carbs.
There are a lot of different requirements depending on the
activity your child is involved in, and that's something that
your living chef can absolutely help you with.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
I love that.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
I know you just kind of spook about it just
a little bit, just touched on it, just a small,
tiny bit.
Speaker 5 (34:58):
But can you just talk about just the process of
just living in home shelf services? How does it work
from just selecting like the shelf to milk planning and
just preparation.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
How does this process work? Yes?
Speaker 7 (35:12):
Great question. Can this somewhat new for people? I think
a lot of people think about having a personal shop
service as one being really expensive, but then two requiring
like some sort of special occasion, right, not an everyday thing.
But what live in is trying to do, and what
we do is we make it possible for you to
have someone cook your meals and prepare your meals in
(35:32):
your home for a really reasonable price and make it
every day. So what happens today customers can come to
choose live in dot com and that's really where the
magic begins. You're able to, you know, start by looking
at our menu, start thinking about when you might want
(35:53):
to have a chef come to you from our site,
you're able to select a date for your service. You
can also, if you subscribe, request specific chefs and you
select your menu and the menu changes monthly, so you
get some really great variety. But you also have the
option to customize right, so you can add notes and
provide color to the chefs so that they know how
(36:13):
to best service you and your family. And that's really it.
It literally takes minutes to place an order and then
the chefs in our network will be provided with that
job essentially, so they get that alert and they're able
to review all of your notes and to your menu items.
They get the recipes from Living and it makes it
really easy for them to provide excellent meal prep services
(36:36):
in your home, which means that you get a fresh, homemade,
more nutritious meal and they get a really awesome career
and work experience opportunity. So that's really how it works.
It's as easy as going to the site, placing an
order like you might do for any other kind of
food ordering site, and then just being prepared with tupperware
(36:57):
and an open door for your chef when they arrive.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Easy. Crazy.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
Now is there like a membership to kind of join
or how does that work as well?
Speaker 7 (37:07):
Yes, so we do both. There is a one time option,
but then also subscription, so you can absolutely do one
time and sometimes, you know, for busy families, that's what
it comes down to. It's like, this is just a
crazy week. You know, we're going to be on the
fields all weekend. We're going to need somebody to come
in and give us an extra set of hands or
some of our families know that, you know, ongoing their
(37:27):
schedule really does demand that they have some more help,
and so they can sign up for a subscription. And
the difference is there one time really is you're just
ordering a one time service a subscription. While it's completely flexible.
You are saying, Okay, I'm going to have a chef
come in at least once a month, and that can range.
You might say it's multiple times a month or whatever
it is that you need. But it does come with
(37:48):
a ten percent discount. You also have the opportunity to
request your chefs as I mentioned before, and you get
to keep your favorites. So if you have favorite menu items,
but that becomes like a custom menu for you that
is always available despite the fact that we change our
menu monthly.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
I love that now.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
I know, like, just in this crazy world, sometimes one
chef may not kind of fit for the family that
they kind of pick out. So is there a situation
where families can try different chefs under the subscription or
are they stuck.
Speaker 7 (38:21):
With that saying no, you can absolutely try different chefs.
You can try different chefs, different menu items, your men.
You can change every week from the selection that we
have available. And that's really great and I actually always
recommend it because every chef is different, right there, individuals,
and so they might seize the a little differently, they
might bring a little bit of different personality, and so
(38:41):
I always encourage families to find a few chefs that
they really love and just kind of build their team.
Speaker 4 (38:47):
I love it, love it, love it. That is wonderful.
That Erica, before you go, I know you're here in Atlanta,
please plug in one of your favorite sports team. Being
a sports month, I feel you, girl, I see you

mentioned we are deep in soccer and we love going
to the Atlanta United games. It's so much fun. The
first time I went, I was like, I gotta be
a fan because these fans are phenomenal, and so we are.

Speaker 7 (39:58):

game and for the kids when they're when they're done
